A Children’s Thanksgiving story – The First Thanksgiving

by Nora Smith

Nearly four hundred years ago, a great
many of the people in England
were very unhappy because their king would not let them
pray to God as
they liked. The king said they must use the same prayers
that he did;
and if they would not do this, they were often thrown into
prison, or
perhaps driven away from home.

“Let us go away from this country,” said
the unhappy Englishmen to
each other; and so they left their homes, and went far
off to a
country called Holland. It was about this time that they
began to call
themselves “Pilgrims. ” Pilgrims, you know, are
people who are always
traveling to find something they love, or to find a land
where they
can be happier; and these English men and women were journeying,
they
said, “from place to place, toward heaven, their dearest
country.”

In Holland, the Pilgrims were quiet
and happy for a while, but they
were very poor; and when the children began to grow up,
they were not
like English children, but talked Dutch, like the little
ones of Holland, and some grew naughty and did not want
to go to church any
more.

“This will never do,” said
the Pilgrim fathers and mothers; so after
much talking and thinking and writing they made up their
minds to come
here to America. They hired two vessels, called the Mayflower
and the
Speedwell, to take them across the sea; but the Speedwell
was not a
strong ship, and the captain had to take her home again
before she had
gone very far.

The Mayflower went back, too. Part of the Speedwell’s
passengers were
given to her, and then she started alone across the great
ocean.

There were one hundred people on board
– mothers and fathers, brothers
and sisters and little children. They were very crowded;
it was cold
and uncomfortable; the sea was rough, and pitched the Mayflower
about,
and they were two months sailing over the water.

The children cried many times on the journey, and wished
they had
never come on the tiresome ship that rocked them so hard,
and would
not let them keep still a minute.

But they had one pretty plaything to amuse them, for in
the middle of
the great ocean a Pilgrim baby was born, and they called
him
“Oceanus,” for his birthplace. When the children
grew so tired that
they were cross and fretful, Oceanus’ mother let them come
and play
with him, and that always brought smiles and happy faces
back again.

At last the Mayflower came in sight of land; but if the
children had
been thinking of grass and flowers and birds, they must
have been very
much disappointed, for the month was cold November, and
there was
nothing to be seen but rocks and sand and hard bare ground.

Some of the Pilgrim fathers, with brave Captain Myles
Standish at
their head, went on shore to see if they could find any
houses or
white people. But they only saw some Indians, who
ran away from
them, and found some Indian huts and some corn buried in
holes in the
ground. They went to and fro from the ship three times,
till by and by
they found a pretty place to live, where there were “fields
and little
running brooks.”

Then at last all the tired Pilgrims landed from the ship
on a spot now
called Plymouth Rock, and the first house was begun on
Christmas Day.
But when I tell you how sick they were and how much they
suffered that
first winter, you will be very sad and sorry for them.
The weather was
cold, the snow fell fast and thick, the wind was icy, and
the Pilgrim
fathers had no one to help them cut down the trees and
build their
church and their houses.

The Pilgrim mothers helped all they could; but they were
tired with
the long journey, and cold, and hungry too, for no one
had the right
kind of food to eat, nor even enough of it.

So first one was taken sick, and then another, till half
of them were
in bed at the same time, Brave Myles Standish and the other
soldiers
nursed them as well as they knew how; but before spring
came half of
the people died and had gone at last to “heaven, their
dearest
country.

But by and by the sun shone more brightly, the snow melted,
the leaves
began to grow, and sweet spring had come again.

Some friendly Indians had visited the Pilgrims during
the winter, and
Captain Myles Standish, with several of his men, had returned
the
visit.

One of the kind Indians was called Squanto, and he came
to stay with
the Pilgrims, and showed them how to plant their corn,
and their pease
and wheat and barley.

When the summer came and the days were long and bright,
the Pilgrim
children were very happy, and they thought Plymouth a lovely
place
indeed. All kinds of beautiful wild flowers grew at their
doors, there
were hundreds of birds and butterflies, and the great pine
woods were
always cool and shady when the sun was too bright.

When it was autumn the fathers gathered the barley and
wheat and corn
that they had planted, and found that it had grown so well
that they
would have quite enough for the long winter that was coming.

“Let us thank God for it all,” they said. “It
is He who has made the
sun shine and the rain fall and the corn grow.” So
they thanked God in
their homes and in their little church; the fathers and
the mothers
and the children thanked Him.

“Then,” said the Pilgrim mothers, “let
us have a great Thanksgiving
party, and invite the friendly Indians, and all rejoice
together.”

So they had the first Thanksgiving party, and a grand
one it was! Four
men went out shooting one whole day, and brought back so
many wild
ducks and geese and great wild turkeys that there was enough
for
almost a week. There was deer meat also, of course, for
there were
plenty of fine deer in the forest. Then the Pilgrim mothers
made the
corn and wheat into bread and cakes, and they had fish
and clams from
the sea besides.

The friendly Indians all came with their chief Massasoit.
Every one
came that was invited, and more, I dare say, for there
were ninety of
them altogether.

They brought five deer with them, that they gave to the
Pilgrims; and
they must have liked the party very much, for they stayed
three days.

Kind as the Indians were, you would have been very much
frightened if
you had seen them; and the baby Oceanus, who was a year
old then,
began to cry at first whenever they came near him.

They were dressed in deerskins, and some of them had the
furry coat of
a wild cat hanging on their arms. Their long black hair
fell loose on
their shoulders, and was trimmed with feathers or fox-tails.
They had
their faces painted in all kinds of strange ways, some
with black
stripes as broad as your finger all up and down them. But
whatever
they wore, it was their very best, and they had put it
on for the
Thanksgiving party.

Each meal, before they ate anything, the Pilgrims and
the Indians
thanked God together for all his goodness. The Indians
sang and danced
in the evenings, and every day they ran races and played
all kinds of
games with the children.

Then sometimes the Pilgrims with their guns, and the Indians
with
their bows and arrows, would see who could shoot farthest
and best. So
they were glad and merry and thankful for three whole days.

The Pilgrim mothers and fathers had been sick and sad
many times since
they landed from the Mayflower; they had worked very hard,
often had
not had enough to eat, and were mournful indeed when their
friends
died and left them. But now they tried to forget all this,
and think
only of how good God had been to them; and so they all
were happy
together at the first Thanksgiving party.

All this happened nearly four hundred years ago, and ever
since that
time Thanksgiving has been kept in our country.

Every year our fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers
have
“rejoiced together” like the Pilgrims, and have
had something to be
thankful for each time.

Every year some father has told the story of the brave
Pilgrims to his
little sons and daughters, and has taught them to be very
glad and
proud that the Mayflower came sailing to our country so
many years
ago.

How to tell the true story to kids

Most people hear the story of Thanksgiving from a young age and it’s pretty simple. A group of Pilgrims, fleeing religious persecution, sail to North American and settle on Plymouth Rock. After a hard winter, they celebrate a successful harvest with their new neighbors, Native Americans. Everybody’s grateful; the end.

But that’s only half the story. The Wampanoag tribe, the Indigenous people who lived at Plymouth Rock, experienced this moment very differently. Are your kids ready to hear the real history? The answer is probably yes.

“Parents can start by telling their kids the truth and offering their children the more complex narrative. Kids are smart and capable of understanding,” Matika Wilbur of the Swinomish and Tulalip tribes told TODAY Parents. She co-hosts the podcast All My Relations, which aired an episode called “Thanksgiving or Thankstaking?” that aims to understand the Wampanoag perspective.

“Thanksgiving is rooted in a historical fallacy,” Wilbur said, and the story is tied to the idea of white supremacy. “The main Pilgrim narrative coincides with colonization that was inherently oppressive and brutal.

Parents might balk at introducing the “real history” to their children because they think their children can’t handle it. But that’s not giving them enough credit, Wilbur said.

The backstory of Thanksgiving

Wilbur — who traveled to over 400 Tribal Nations for her documentary Project 562 — and her co-host Adrienne Keene, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation who is an assistant professor of American Studies and Ethic Studies at Brown University, spoke with Paula Peters and Linda Coombs, Wampanoag historical scholars, for the episode.

Peters said sharing the Wampanoag perspective is essential but can be tough for parents.

“It’s difficult because we have to talk about some raw topics in order to get a fuller, clearer understanding,” Peters, a citizen of Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and a researcher and journalist, told TODAY Parents. “Quite honestly, cherry picking that moment when the Wampanoag and Puritans happen to break bread as the ‘Kumbaya’ moment really does not do it any justice. The Wampanoag have been marginalized and forgotten and the back story is so incredibly critical for what ultimately happens.”

Prior to the Pilgrims landing, the Wampanoag had experienced a plague that devastated their community. A “plague” is something Peters thinks children can certainly understand these days.

“This is all (relevant) right now,” she said. “Think of what we (had) to say to our children, why they can’t go to school and parents can’t go to work — to protect our elders.”

She says how parents share information with their children is “very personal” but believes they should introduce Indigenous history early and encourage their children to think critically about what they read. The Wampanoag people did not rush out to welcome the newly arrived Puritans, for example. They took months to observe them.

“Being able to talk about the true trepidation that the Wampanoag had with forging a relationship (is important),” she said. “It wasn’t like new neighbors moved in. It was very different.”

Children definitely get what it’s like meeting someone new who seems unlike them.

“That is a creative and personal way to make it clear … You get a new neighbor next door. They don’t speak your language. They don’t go to the same church. They do everything differently,” Peters said. “How are you going to engage with these people? These were all questions the Wampanoag leader had to ask himself.”

The Wampanoag Tribe also knew that other people who were like the Pilgrims had raided their food supplies in the past, so they felt wary.

“What if you had a new neighbor that moved in and the first thing they did was take your cereal and Cracker Jack and not even leave a note?” she said. “These were new neighbors who came on the same kinds of ships that would have stolen from their fathers, their cousins, their uncles.”

Who was ‘Squanto’ and how did he know English?

Another part of the story that parents can encourage their children to think deeply about is that role of Tisquantum, aka Squanto, who served as a liaison because he spoke English.

“We all had this story of the Mayflower and Plymouth colony and wasn’t it wonderful that they came and they met with Squanto and he spoke perfect English?” Peters said. “Children are going to question, ‘Well, how did he learn to speak English?’”

That’s a natural place to add more information. “Squanto” had been kidnapped by European settlers and held captive as a slave years earler.

“The answer to that involves all of those other things, being kidnapped, the plague,” she said. “Those parts of the stories are very tragic.”

There are few books by Indigenous writers for children looking at the history of Thanksgiving, Peters said. And, Wilbur said only a handful of states — including Montana, Washington, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Mexico and New York — mandate Indigenous history in the curriculum. Parents can reference these curricula online or turn to something like the Smithsonian’s Native Knowledge 360º Education Initiative for resources.

“It should be in the schools,” Peters said.

How to learn more about Native American history

Peters participated in Plymouth 400, the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower landing. The website and events includes Wampanoag history. Parents can explore this and the British sister project Mayflower 400 to learn more.

“There was a great interest worldwide in learning the true story,” she said. “We were a little bit nervous: ‘Would they really hear us?’ In the past there has been a history of not interpreting what we say properly.”

But people did want to listen.

“I was really surprised by how welcome it was,” Peters said.

And, Wilbur saidAll My Relations will be hosting an anti-racism book club in its third season.

“That’s definitely something parents could follow along with,” she said.

Peters suggests that families who want to learn more start by learning the Indigenous history of where they are. You can look on this map to see what Native American tribe lived where you live now.

“The very first thing they can do is acknowledge where they live,” she said. “Just understanding where you are and whose ancestral land it is and just asking the hard questions about history.”

Wilbur agrees.

“The path to reconciliation begins with developing relationships with the Native people whose land we occupy. Everywhere in North America has an Indigenous history and story, and there are still Indigenous people living here,” she said.”There is an opportunity to build relationships with Indigenous people and support their cause.”

And families who want to do more can do more, while perhaps creating new traditions.

“They could become an ally to Indigenous communities by supporting their causes, either with donated time or money,” Wilbur said. “Thanksgiving allows all of us to evaluate how we are being of service to community, so rather than centering what I’m grateful for once a year, we could ask ourselves, ‘How we are expressing that gratitude in a way that gives back?’”

History of MBDOU -Information for parents

WE HAVE A GLORIOUS HISTORY, A WORTHY PRESENT AND PROMISING FUTURE!

The history of the development and formation of our preschool educational institution dates back to 1985 of the last century.

March 8… We celebrate this day as a holiday for mothers, grandmothers and all women. And, it so happened that the concepts of “holiday” and “gift” have become in principle inseparable. Probably, this is exactly what the administration of the Shakhty branch of the Novocherkassk Electric Transport Engineering Plant (ZETM) in Shakhty reasoned when they gave their workers an invaluable gift – March 5, 1985 was put into operation nursery-kindergarten No. 75 “Zhuravushka” Shakhty.

Elena Ivanovna Komolova was appointed head of the nursery.

In the 1990s, the system of teaching six-year-olds was tested in the country. A new type of institution has emerged, carrying out the continuity of preschool and elementary levels. The existing conditions made it possible to open an experimental first class on the basis of a nursery garden in 1987 for teaching children from 6 years old.

Along with this, in order to experiment in raising children at home, having studied the experience of the Kama plant in creating home-based nursery-kindergartens and, having agreed on the issue of opening a nursery-kindergarten at home with the administration of the plant, the kindergarten staff took part in organizing kindergarten branch. For its functioning, a two-room section was equipped in a working factory dormitory. In October 1989, the nursery-garden at home began its activities. The Sumshchenko family was engaged in raising children. In total, 10 children aged from 2.5 to 7 years were brought up here. This nursery-garden at home, a branch of kindergarten No. 75, has been successfully operating for more than three years.

In 1993, due to a sharp deterioration in the economic situation of the plant, kindergarten No. 75 was closed. In April 1994, the nursery garden was transferred to the municipal ownership of the city and since September 1994 it has completely resumed its work.

Since 1998, the municipal preschool educational institution has been headed by the head, “Honorary Worker of General Education of the Russian Federation” Padashul Nelli Viktorovna.

Profound transformations in the social, economic and socio-cultural spheres of life of our city, as well as the whole country as a whole, had a great influence on the further development of the kindergarten.

The teaching staff of the preschool institution got the opportunity to independently determine the content component of education, use new technologies, programs, which required the development of a new concept and development program for the institution itself.

Understanding the complexity of this issue and the need for scientific guidance, since 1995, the preschool educational institution has been cooperating with the Department of Preschool Pedagogy and Psychology of the Rostov State Pedagogical University.

Thanks to close interaction with the candidate of pedagogical sciences, professor L.V. Kompantseva, the kindergarten team enters into a mode of experimental work, which determined new prospects for the development of a preschool institution.

Scientific and practical seminar at preschool educational institution No. 75
(second from the right – Ph.D., Professor of the Russian State Pedagogical University L. V. Kompantseva)

V. Padashul conducted scientific research on the problem of developing the artistic and creative abilities of children. The role and significance of this research in the development of pedagogical science and practice, the main theoretical and methodological provisions are reflected in a number of books by leading scientists of the Russian Federation:

Kazakova T.G. Theory and methodology for the development of children’s fine arts: a textbook for university students studying in the specialties “Preschool Pedagogy and Psychology”, “Pedagogy and Methods of Preschool Education”. M.: Humanitarian publishing center VLADOS, 2006. pp.15-16., 206-209.;

Kompantseva L.V. Innovative activities of preschool educational institutions to ensure the quality of art education. Scientific and methodological manual. Rostov-on-Don; Bulat, 2008., p.110-123.;

are awarded by A.M. Strauning, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. (j. “Preschool education” No. 11/1997, p. 29):

are included in the Program of artistic and pedagogical practice in the specialty “Pedagogy and methods of preschool education” -031100, RSPU, Rostov-on-Don, 1997.

The teaching staff supported the ideas of their leader. Innovative activity prompted the creative group of the kindergarten to determine the development paths that are consonant with the interests, training, and professional competence of each teacher participating in it.

On the basis of a preschool institution, a model of an artistic and creative complex (CTC) is being developed, consisting of several interconnected components in which various areas of the pedagogical process are carried out – familiarization with cultural values, accumulation of social experience, search, cognitive, artistic, communicative activities of children .

In the artistic and creative complex of the preschool educational institution, the process of cultural identification of the individual is created and implemented, the epicenter of which is the child as a free subject of life creation.

The developing content of children’s activities, the introduction of new technologies of education and development, provide a student-oriented interaction of all subjects of the pedagogical process.

Developed by the head of the preschool educational institution Padashul N.V. and aimed at developing the artistic and creative abilities of older preschoolers, the author’s program “Flower-Semitsvetik” was tested, introduced into the educational process of kindergartens in the city and region, published by decision of the editorial and publishing department of the Rostov State Pedagogical University in the methodological guide for educators “Search. Initiative. Creativity. – Mines: RSPU.1996, as well as in the journal “Preschool education” No. 2, 1999. – P.6 – 16.

children in general.

The experimental experience of the kindergarten on this issue was presented at the regional scientific and practical conference “Modern problems of preschool education in the South Russian region on the way to the XX I century”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Z. V. Lishtvan and the 70th anniversary of the Russian State Pedagogical University (Rostov-on-Don), on the pages of the Russian journal “Preschool Education” , in the collections of scientific papers of the Rostov State Pedagogical University, widely studied and implemented in the work of kindergartens in Rostov, Volgograd , Voronezh Region, Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk Territories, as well as in the work of kindergartens in neighboring countries – Ukraine and Georgia.

In 2001 for the first time in the history of preschool education in the Rostov Region and the North Caucasus District, the head of a preschool educational institution, Padashul Nelli Viktorovna, was awarded a degree – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences.

In January 2001, according to the results of state certification and accreditation, the kindergarten was assigned the high status of the Child Development Center , which was successfully confirmed during the next certification of preschool educational institutions in 2005.

Working in depth on the problem of teaching preschoolers the rules of the road, the staff of the preschool institution in the 2004-2005 academic year became the winner of the All-Russian review competition of educational institutions on the prevention of children’s road traffic injuries.

In 2009, on the basis of a preschool institution, regional seminar was held for traffic police officers to sum up the results of the regional review competition “We will protect you, baby!” (the photo report of the seminar was presented on the pages of the regional newspaper “Avtodon” No. 15 (397) dated April 22, 2009). The kindergarten became the absolute winner of in three nominations in the regional competition “We will protect you, baby!”

Until now, the kindergarten annually wins prizes in this area in municipal and regional competitions.

In 2017 the kindergarten became the winner in the regional competition “Journey to the Land of Road Signs”, in the nomination “For the best thematic Internet page on road safety” (as part of the implementation of the “Decade of Action to Ensure Road Safety 2015-2020” program).

Over the years of existence of the preschool educational institution, one of the unique traditions of the educational institution has developed in the team – the need for continuous improvement.

Being in a real professional and creative search, preschool teachers work out the optimal conditions for the full development of preschoolers.

Kindergarten teachers take part in All-Russian, regional and municipal show jumping. In different years, they were attended by:

  • educator Golendukhina N.A. – winner “Best Pedagogical Worker

preschool education of the Rostov region”,

  • educators Prokopenko A.A., Boyko G.B. – 1st place in the regional competition for traffic rules “We are

“We will protect you, baby!”,

  • A.K.

activities of psychologists’ offices in preschool educational institutions, early

in teaching a foreign language, awarded with a silver medal in the All-Russian

competition of innovative ideas and projects for teaching, educating and developing children Diploma of the laureate in

All-Russian competition of original ideas, promising initiatives “Vocation-educator”

  • educators Kurdupova L. V., Orlova A.V., Liguta N.V., Prokopenko A.A. – Participants of the city competition “Teacher of the Year”.

The administration of the preschool educational institution has always sought and created conditions for the search work and scientific research of teachers: opening an experimental site on the basis of a preschool institution; development and approbation of copyright and variational programs; participation in scientific and practical conferences, seminars, publication of articles in collections, journals.

In 2012, MBDOU No. 75 completed work in the status of municipal experimental site on the problem: Pedagogical innovations and the organization of their implementation in the activities of the preschool educational institution as a means of its development (Order of the Department of Education of the Administration of the City of Shakhty No. 558 of November 19, 2009 “On the assignment and confirmation of the status of the municipal experimental site of the OS in the city of Shakhty”).

Based on the materials of the experimental work, together with the Pedagogical Institute of the Southern Federal University, , a methodological collection “Pedagogical innovations in the activities of preschool educational institutions as a means of its development” was published / L.V. Kompantseva, N.V. Padashul. (Rostov-on-Don-Shakhty, 2009.).

Work experience of a preschool institution is included in all-Russian project 2012-2013 “School of the Digital Age”.

According to the results of work on the ecological development of preschoolers, the kindergarten was awarded by the Mayor of Shakhty The badge of honor “For the purity of native nature.”

In 2015, scientific and experimental work was completed on the problem “Peculiarities of the development of the cognitive and emotional sphere of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in a situation of semantic initiations”, carried out in 2013-2015. teacher-psychologist MBDOU, postgraduate student of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “Southern Federal University” Mazina A.K., under the guidance of Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education Abakumova I.V.

As a result of the work carried out, the following tasks were solved:

– a study was made of the development of behavioral and emotional characteristics in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in senior preschool age in a situation of semantic initiation;

– the latest empirical research on the origin of the development and correction of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in preschool children was studied;

– a diagnostic system was developed and tested for collecting psychological anamnesis about the manifestation and origin of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children of the main and risk groups;

– a correctional and developmental program was developed and experimentally tested, stimulating semantic initiations for children of senior preschool age with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Orientation to success, high emotional saturation of classes, constant reliance on interest, fostering a sense of responsibility – all this had a positive effect in the psychocorrection of the behavior of hyperactive children, a more complete disclosure of creative abilities, the development of self-awareness and self-esteem of the child, which undoubtedly helped to provide equal opportunities for the full development of each student.

In 2014, the teaching staff received a letter of thanks from the Department of Psychology of the Southern Federal University for fruitful cooperation on the problem of psychological support for older preschool children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which ensure the effectiveness of psychocorrection of the behavior of a hyperactive child.

In June 2014, the experience of the kindergarten on the problem “Development of the communicative competence of a preschool child as one of the conditions for the implementation of GEF DO” was presented at the Interregional scientific and practical conference “Resources for the development of the educational environment of preschool educational institutions in the context of the implementation of Federal State Educational Standards preschool education “(Materials of the interregional scientific and practical conference on June 26-28, 29014 –Zlatoust-Moscow, pp. 13-16).

In the same 2014, due to the long queue of children for admission to the preschool educational institution, a major reconstruction of the physioblock of the institution was carried out, as a result of which an additional 20 places were opened for preschool children . Another group began to function in the kindergarten.

One of the important pages in the history of the institution is the interaction with the GBU DPO RO “Rostov Institute for Advanced Studies and Professional Retraining of Educational Workers”.

The result of this cooperation was the organization of innovative activities of the preschool educational institution, in the status of the regional innovative experimental site for testing and implementing the main general educational program “World of Discovery”, which was assigned to a preschool institution by Order of the Ministry of Education of the Rostov Region dated April 16, 2013 No. 267.

Under the guidance of L.V. Bekh, scientific consultant, candidate of pedagogical sciences, senior methodologist of the department of preschool and primary education of the RIPK and PPRO, the process of updating the content, forms, methods of working with children, teachers and parents was carried out in a preschool institution.

Changing the form and content of the activities of the DOW, in our understanding, this is an objective-observant process that is a response to time challenges, a change in childhood model, a sharp acceleration of scientific and technological progress, expanding the role of information and cmmic technologies, global requirements for the transition from accumulation knowledge to the formation of competencies.

The desire of teachers to interest parents, to involve them in the experiment, to make them their assistants, was rewarded by increased activity of parents during parent meetings, joint events for children. So, on one of the sunny April days of 2015, in the kindergarten, in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, the action “ Victory Lilac. The veteran of the Great Patriotic War S.N. Dolgopolov was the guest of honor of this extraordinary holiday.

Children with special diligence planted lilac seedlings. Parents did not stand aside either – fathers and mothers unanimously helped young patriots. And as a wish for the future, the words of Vladik Mazin’s grandfather sounded: “Let our children grow up, and this lilac planted by their hands in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, and let them enjoy spring and a peaceful sky every year!”

One of my favorites was doing rhythmic gymnastics after sleep, together with my parents, during which A.I. Burenina’s program “Rhythmic Mosaic” was implemented.

When conducting experimental work on testing and implementing the World of Discovery program, in-depth attention was paid to the integration of basic and additional education, while new tasks were identified not only to improve the quality of educational services, but also to meet the needs of parents in an increased level of education children, the maximum satisfaction of the requirements of the school for the future student.

As a result, the regional components of preschool education have expanded, new narrow specialists (choreographer) have been introduced to the staff of the preschool institution, which made it possible to include new subjects, integrated classes in the curriculum, to search for organizational and content aspects of the activities of teachers in possible models of interaction based on competence orientation of preschool education as one of the conditions for the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard.

The main result of the activities of the MBDOU was the mastering by the pupils of the MBDOU a set of competencies – integrative personal characteristics that determine the child’s ability to solve a variety of available life tasks.

In April 2016, at the Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference “Implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard: Problems and Prospects for the Implementation of the Educational Program of Preschool Education” World of Discovery “(Rostov-on-Don) with the report “Educational program as a basic basis organization of an integrated educational process in the preschool educational institution “, the head of MBDOU No. 75 Padashul N.V. In May of the same year, she presented the work experience “Innovative educational model of a modern preschool educational institution in the conditions of the Federal State Educational Standard of Education” for regional seminar-meeting at the Rostov Institute for Advanced Studies and Professional Retraining of Education Workers.

The organization and implementation of innovative activities in the pedagogical practice of preschool educational institutions have always been considered by the teaching staff as a huge potential for improving the quality of education.

For several decades, MBDOU TsRR No. 75 has been a pilot (base) educational institution of the city in the artistic and aesthetic direction.

On the basis of a preschool institution, city methodological associations, scientific and practical seminars for teachers and specialists of kindergartens in the city and region are constantly held at a high professional level.

The experience of innovative work of the MBDOU Central District Hospital No. 75 of the Shakhty on the problem of “System Management of Innovation Processes in the Preschool Educational Institution” was represented by the head of the MBDOU No. 75, Schakhty Padashul N.V. at III All-Russian Congress workers of preschool education , held in 2013 in Moscow (magazine “Modern preschool education” No. 8 (40) / 2013.).

In October 2016, the head of the preschool educational institution Padashul N.V. – Delegate of the IV All-Russian Congress of Preschool Education Workers.

One of the most memorable events of this forum was the meeting with Veraksa Nikolai Evgenievich – Doctor of Psychology, Professor, Rector of the Moscow Pedagogical Academy of Preschool Education, author of the program “From birth to school”, according to which our preschool institution works

In November 2015, the results of the I V All-Russian Educational Forum “School of the Future: Problems and Prospects for the Development of Modern Education in Russia” were summed up. As part of the forum, an independent public council, which included the chairman and representatives of the State Duma Committee on Science and High Technologies, held a competition among institutions of preschool education in the Russian Federation.

According to the results of the All-Russian competition kindergarten was awarded: Laureate diploma and gold medal “100 best preschool educational institutions in Russia”, head Padashul N.V. – Diploma of the winner in the nomination “Person of the Year” and the Badge of Honor “Head of the Year -2015”.

According to the results of the regional competition “Kindergartens for Children” our preschool institution in April 2016 became a silver medalist in the nomination “The Best Municipal Kindergarten of the Rostov Region”.

The competition was held with the support of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov region, the Rostov regional branch of the United Russia Party in order to identify, support and disseminate innovative experience, determine the best kindergartens, as well as effectively working teaching and management teams of the preschool education system in the Rostov region.

The nomination “The best municipal kindergarten in the Rostov region”, according to the Regulations of the competition (No. 02.9.-207 of 12.23.2015), was aimed at identifying municipal MBDEIs that successfully implement innovative mechanisms for the modernization of municipal systems that provide affordable high-quality preschool education in conditions for the introduction of GEF DO.

The experience of the kindergarten was presented by at various international, regional, regional conferences, published in a number of various scientific collections and teaching aids for educators.

The achievements of the team of teachers and children of Preschool Educational Institution No. 75 were marked by numerous certificates, letters of thanks and diplomas of various levels.

This became possible because, in our understanding, a modern kindergarten is one where harmony reigns: professionalism and science, work and rest, search and discovery.

Analyzing the work of the institution, the conclusion can be traced – the institution is not just functioning, but actively developing, which can be seen in all areas of the institution.

Throughout its history, the kindergarten team has been actively involved in the life of the Frunze village, where the kindergarten is located – this includes annual work on the improvement of the park, and the holding of environmental campaigns “Plant your flower”, “Clean morning”, and participation in concerts programs and competitions, both village and city, taking place in the park

All this so that each of our pupils can proudly say: “My small Motherland is the village of Frunze. City of Shakhty.

In 2015 the kindergarten celebrated its 30th anniversary. In honor of this event , a mountain ash alley was laid. Our guys named it – Friendship Alley. Why Friendship? Yes, because these fragile rowan seedlings were planted by graduates of our kindergarten, together with graduates of secondary school No. 14. And this is also a symbol of friendship and continuity between kindergarten and school.

Now 30 mountain ash, donated by the director of the trade enterprise R. Dallari, and planted by the thirtieth anniversary graduation of children, will decorate the entrance to the kindergarten.

In August 2016, the kindergarten team, following the results of the city competition “Blossoming City”, was awarded a Certificate of Honor for winning the nomination “The most landscaped territory of an educational institution”.

Today MBDOU No. 75 is an educational institution of a modern type with established traditions and introducing innovative scientific achievements, which has been awarded the status of a municipal methodological resource center by the Ministry of General and Vocational Education of the Rostov Region. The kindergarten is a base of excellence for teachers of preschool institutions in the city and the Rostov region.

Our mission is to bring together the preschool educational institution and the family to create an environment that reveals the individuality of each child and contributes to the formation of competencies that will ensure his success today and in the future.

Kindergarten is really the first stage of education. It is the development of the child, his familiarization with culture, the development of intelligence, the protection and promotion of health. It is here that our future, the future of our Russia, is being laid.

THE FUTURE STARTS TODAY!

MEETING WITH LOVE, SEEING OFF WITH PRIDE!

90,000 History from 1975 to today

History of any team, any enterprise, including kindergarten, consists of the fate, life and labor paths of people, dedicated to the upbringing of children.

At the end of the distant year 1975, nursery school No. 53 was formed on the basis of the State Committee for Agricultural Engineering. He invested a lot of strength, energy, labor and love in creating a nursery garden.
Directly nursery-kindergarten No. 53 belonged to the Syktyvkar Rayselkhoztekhnika. The manager was Pavel Evaldovich Gromov. He paid great attention to the nursery garden, helped in all matters, acquired modern equipment.
The first workers entered the new nursery. According to the teacher Timashkova Tatyana Semyonovna: “Before the opening of the kindergarten, the entire teaching staff worked in the pedagogical office. The cabinet was replenished with hand-made manuals. Produced didactic material and teaching aids. From candy wrappers they cut out counting material for mathematics classes, drew posters, plot pictures for classes on the development of speech and acquaintance with the outside world. They designed albums on the topics: seasons, professions, etc.”
On March 1, 1976, children’s voices sounded in a new large and comfortable house.
A very responsible and conscientious specialist, Raisa Ivanovna Rozova, was offered to head the preschool institution. She ran the nursery from 1976 to March 1994.

The teachers Elizaveta Panteleymonovna Kozlova and Galina Mikhailovna Belozerova came to work with her in the new nursery-kindergarten. It was these people: young, energetic and literate, with advanced pedagogical views, with an active life position, who set an example for their colleagues for many years.

The nursery-garden lived a bright, creative, active life, accepted more and more new pupils. Conferences and meetings were regularly held on the basis of the nursery-garden. Every year, students of the Syktyvkar Pedagogical College No. 2 underwent pedagogical practice. Many high-level public events were shown for students of the Institute for Teacher Development courses.

At that time, the kindergarten was the base for labor education. In the manual labor room, wooden toys were made, they were engaged in weaving (M.A. Punegova and L.F. Bykovskaya) and embroidery (L.A. Kazanova). Ms. Bowman took with her to Holland gifts made by the hands of kindergarten workers and children.
In the guest book, which is still kept in the kindergarten, Mrs. Bowman left an entry: “To all the children and their teachers, I want to say that I really enjoyed visiting the kindergarten. Thanks a lot for all the gifts. I am glad that I can show these souvenirs in Holland. Thank you for the welcome and welcome.”

This is, first of all, Rudy Tamara Anatolyevna. She accompanied us from the junior to the preparatory group. This is a teacher called “master”, finally, a sweet, beautiful woman, with whom it was pleasant to meet every day. Thanks to Tatyana Semyonovna Timashkova – she quickly won the love of my son. All these years, the high methodological potential of the kindergarten, good technical equipment, as well as the goodwill of all employees attracted attention. I think that behind all this is the leader – Raisa Ivanovna Rozova with her exactingness, efficiency in resolving all issues. I wish all employees of the kindergarten health, new successes, and excellent mood.”
On April 2, 1983, a conference on mental education was held. An exhibition of children’s works, works of parents, an exhibition of culinary products from stale bread, with recipes for their preparation, were arranged for the conference.

You and your team have invested a lot of work to create such a cultural center in our city. In a good way, I envy the children who live in “Your House” under the guidance of a glorious team. I wish you happiness, health, well-being of the heart and a smart and talented team that is destined to educate our young generation in order to build communism and peace on our planet. With deep respect, veteran A.P. Danilova. Thank you for your hospitality”.

On March 12, 1988, a conference was held for parents on the moral upbringing of children.
For many years, kindergarten was considered the base for physical education. We were the first in the republic to start physical education classes on the street. It was 1977. Galina Alekseevna, an energetic teacher Chernykh, began this work. How many difficulties there were with the selection of clothes and shoes, but the educators, together with their parents, overcame these difficulties. Children love the cold season for physical education and sports. This experience was heard at many republican events. The kindergarten worked under the motto: “If you can sit, don’t lie down; if you can stand, don’t sit; if you can run, don’t walk!” The work of Chernykh Galina Alekseevna was continued by an energetic sports worker – Lubova Margarita Vyacheslavovna. Many diplomas and awards were collected for participation in sports festivals and competitions organized by public organizations of the city.

Under the leadership of Raisa Ivanovna Rozova, the kindergarten was awarded the title of “Exemplary Kindergarten”.

From March 1991 to February 1992 Emilia Anatolyevna Potapova directed the kindergarten.
Sidorova G.N.

October 1, 1991 our kindergarten was transferred to the balance of Gorono.

From April 1994 to January 2009, the kindergarten worked under the direction of Galina Nikolaevna Sidorova. From the first days, she began to enjoy respect and authority in the team and among her parents. She gave all her strength to work, skillfully managed the kindergarten. Under her leadership, a friendly and energetic team has developed. The teachers and all employees of the kindergarten worked with enthusiasm. Strengthened material and technical base of the kindergarten.

Since 1999, physical education and health work with children has become an officially documented priority in the activities of the kindergarten.

The search for the effectiveness of measures aimed at recovery is of paramount importance. The teaching staff developed and implemented recreational activities aimed at improving the health of children, reducing morbidity, creating a need for a healthy lifestyle, rational organization of the daily routine, stimulating optimal physical activity, and creating a reasonable hardening system.

Since January 2009, the kindergarten has been headed by Svetlana Pavlovna Kosareva, a young, energetic and proactive leader who boldly introduces new technologies. Under the leadership of Svetlana Pavlovna, the kindergarten operates in a mode of effective development, where at every step one feels care for the child, his health and a happy future. To ensure the quality and accessibility of preschool education, short-stay groups have been created, the educational process is being improved taking into account the requirements of the time, and the material and technical base is being strengthened. Employees, children and parents of the kindergarten actively participate in city, republican, federal competitions of artistic, aesthetic, sports, intellectual and scientific orientations. On the basis of the kindergarten, students of the Pedagogical College named after Kuratov annually practice. PEI teachers share their experience with students of the State Autonomous Educational Establishment (PC) SRK “KRIRO”.
Since January 1, 2011, the kindergarten has become an autonomous institution, and these are new opportunities and prospects for the effective functioning of the institution.

Kindergarten has always been famous and proud of those people who gave their whole soul and give their all to the cause in raising kids. Very kind, caring, child-loving educators, teachers over the years have worked and are working in the kindergarten: Chernykh Galina Alekseevna, Timusheva Valentina Alekseevna, Kristofor Galina Davydovna, Evroshyna Irina Vladimirovna, Pyankova Tamara Leonidovna, Lukoyanova Roza Ivanovna, Bykovskaya Lyudmila Fedorovna, Lubova Margarita Vyacheslavovna, Porubova Maria Egorovna, Pasynkova Natalya Aleksandrovna, Ogibina Galina Nikolaevna, Sharapova Tamara Sergeevna, Kozlova Elizaveta Panteleimonovna – the senior educator, enjoyed great respect and well-deserved authority. Timashkova Tatyana Semenovna, Mozymova Vera Ivanovna, Pysenko Albina Nikolaevna, Sevryugina Galina Nikolaevna, Koval Nadezhda Nikolaevna, Kaneva Valentina Mechislavovna, Rupnyak Snezhana Ravilovna and others. They found and find their own approach to each child. After all, a teacher is truly a second mother.
Music directors: Reish Maya Valentinovna and Porubova Irina Petrovna, Markina Maria Borisovna, Perminova Galina Vasilievna, Punegova Natalia Nikolaevna are gifted, creative, talented teachers. How many bright unforgettable holidays with children they have spent and are taking part in artistic and aesthetic competitions.

The first assistant to the teacher, just nannies, people of the kindest soul: Pyatkova Albina Petrovna, Yurkina Nina and others. Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

How they are brought up in the Netherlands: “Freedom of choice, and no lisping”

our mothers abroad
April 10, 2018

About kindergartens, schools and socialization of children in Amsterdam.

Anna Abrosimova has been living in Holland since 1991, she left with her parents after graduating from high school. Anya is raising her daughter Nika, 4.5 years old, who was born in Amsterdam.

Children in the Netherlands are involved in the educational system as early as possible.

Early socialization is practical

The Netherlands is a country constantly arguing with one of the most changeable elements – water. Half of the country is below sea level, so water for local residents is both a helper and a threat. It is this controversy that they like to explain the nature of relationships in society. To live in such a geography and with such a capricious neighbor, it is useful to be pragmatic, compromise, cooperate and involve others in the solution of any issue. Such involvement in the system presupposes, first of all, the early socialization of children.

Another reason for early socialization is the diversity of Amsterdam society, where people of 180 nationalities live. So that no one feels that they know the language worse than others, and so that all children are approximately equally prepared for their future independent life in Holland, they are involved in the educational system as early as possible.

Among the household rules for children are: “be kind and nice within the family”, “do not lie” and “do not use foul language”.

In the provinces, the situation is somewhat different, but in general the system is common for the whole country. A child is considered obligated to study from the age of 5 to 16. In Amsterdam, from the age of 2.5, a child must go to kindergarten or spend at least four times a week for about 2.5-3 hours a day in the so-called “preschool”.
Children go to primary school from the age of 4, immediately the day after their birthday. About a week before starting elementary school, the child comes to his future class for half a day to look around, get to know the teacher and classmates.

How children are brought up

If earlier children integrated into the lives of adults, now children dictate their own rules to their parents. I think this is a growing global trend. Otherwise, children in Holland are treated almost like adults. They don’t wrap them up, they don’t wipe their snot, they don’t lisp with them, they practically don’t force anything, they don’t stuff them with food.
Children are allowed to choose their own clothes. They let them go for a walk in different socks and boots, in any outfit that they inventively picked up from their wardrobe, and even in pajamas. They talk with children, negotiate and establish a few simple but unshakable rules. Among the most important household rules are: “be kind and nice within the family”, “do not lie” and “do not use foul language”.

Responsibilities for the care and upbringing of children are divided between parents almost equally. And dads with a stroller in the zoo, on the playground, in the pool, in the theater or dads carrying children on a bicycle, you meet no less than moms.

Kindergartens – only private

Parents choose a school very responsibly, visiting at least three to five schools on open days. In Amsterdam, one in five residents attend an educational institution, and most of them attend a primary school. The principle of walking distance to schools applies here, where children study from 4 to 12 years old. That is, the primary school should be located at a distance of about one kilometer from the child’s home.

On a special municipal website, by postal code, it is easy to determine the list of schools where you can enroll on a pre-emptive basis. An added benefit is attending an appropriate preschool or having an older sibling who is already in primary school. Younger children automatically go to schools where older ones study.

Younger children are automatically enrolled in schools attended by older children. There are no state kindergartens and nurseries in the country.

There are private (paid) and public schools. But there are no state kindergartens and nurseries in the country. There are many private ones, and the level of payment depends on the income of the parents. Parents with low incomes or single parents receive a variety of subsidies. Maternity leave for mothers – 3 months.

Grandparents take part in the life of their grandchildren, but help no more than 1-2 days a week. Primary school hours are from 8:15 am to 3:00 pm on weekdays, except on Wednesdays when the school closes at 1:00 pm. How do Dutch mothers solve the problem? They often go part-time or work 4 days a week. In addition, parents resort to the services of a paid extension, nannies, or – less often and not regularly – the help of parents of classmates.

If a child wants to go to school in winter in shorts and flip flops, they often let him go.

Kindergarten and elementary school

The child’s interest in elementary school and his happy stay in it is supported by a turbulent social life outside of it. Children early begin to agree on trips to visit each other. And the parents who pick them up often return home with not one, but two children.

There is no strict uniform program in the first classes of elementary school. I will tell you a little more about the first and second groups of elementary school. There are children from 4 to 6 years old. The number of children in a group at the beginning of the school year can be 15-17 children and grow to 26-29 by the end of the year. Children enter school the day after their birthday. As a rule, one teacher “leads” the children for two years.

In the classroom, children of different ages and abilities receive different tasks.

They teach school material not within the framework of subjects, but by topic. City, space, Easter, “spring fever”. In the lessons, children of different ages and different abilities receive different tasks and study at their own level. A lot of time is devoted to learning in the game. Children are given time to find solutions, the right to fail, they are allowed to make mistakes, choose their own activities, toys and games.

Once a week, usually on Wednesdays, is Toy Day, i.e. each child can bring their own toy to school, come dressed as Superman, Easter Bunny, Dragon, etc. Children are required to go for a walk in almost any weather. If a five-year-old child claims that he is hot and wants to go to school in shorts and flip flops in the winter, then he is often let go. Freeze – get dressed. Hungry – eat.

In Holland, it is considered reckless waste to buy expensive or even new clothes for children, because they grow up so fast. Therefore, shops and online platforms selling used clothes and shoes are popular. A child in a sweater three sizes too large, torn socks and a jacket from his older brother’s shoulder is a common sight in the schoolyard. Children sit and lie on the floor, on the ground, on stones. Toddlers are taught to put on jackets, which they throw in front of them on the floor or on the ground, and then put on in one motion, passing both hands through the sleeves.

Primary school should be comfortable, safe and fun, as the Dutch say.

Food at school is also treated lightly. Breakfast and lunch are sandwiches. With marmalade, jam, peanut butter, soft cheese. Hot breakfasts and lunches are the luxury of the weekend.

The teacher can bring her dog to class once a week for the whole day, with which the children actively and in their own way communicate.
Not everywhere, but many schools have a “cool soft toy”. A bear, a bunny or a donkey who spends every weekend with another child from the class. The toy goes to visit for the weekend with a diary, where text, photos and pictures taken together by the child and parents reflect the joint pastime. Primary school should be comfortable, safe and fun, as they say in Holland.

Preschool institutions and kindergartens in the Netherlands

If you live in the Netherlands, here is a guide for children and preschool education ( liver ) in the Netherlands.

Many Dutch women return to work after their statutory maternity leave ends – usually 10-12 weeks after the birth of a child – and childcare in the Netherlands is very extensive. Partou Daycare, one of the most popular chains of child care centers in the Netherlands, talks about all the options you can find to make sure your children are well cared for in their first years, from preschools and day care centers to nannies and household helpers.

Contents

  1. Partou Daycare is one of the most popular child care centers in the Netherlands. Partou Kindergarten With 300 centers and over 3,800 employees, Partou is one of the largest child care organizations in the Netherlands. They invest in quality, development and innovation to maintain a high level of service quality while keeping each Partou center small, cozy and welcoming to both parents and children. Their staff speak English and they are very popular with expat families.
Preschools in the Netherlands For many expat families, the Toddler Preschool (peuterspeelzaal) is their first introduction to the Dutch school system. Peuterspeelzaal is an educational program that helps children between the ages of two and a half and four prepare for school. Preschool institutions are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Social Security and Employment. First of all, preschool institutions are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Social Security and Employment. Toddlers learn intellectual, emotional and educational skills such as language and counting, social interaction, following directions, play, sports and music. The Peuterspeelzaal is open five days a week (Monday-Friday). You can choose to send your child for three or five hours (excluding/including lunch) and one to five days a week (some centers require a minimum of two days a week). Most preschools open at 8:30 am and the day lasts until 3:00 pm. The cost of childcare is shared between parents, their employers and the government in accordance with the Dutch childcare law passed in 2005. The contribution of parents depends on income. There are government fact sheets that provide complete information about child benefits. A 12-page booklet published by Sardes provides additional interesting details about the early childhood education system.
Choosing a preschool in the Netherlands Choosing a peuterspeelzaal depends on three main criteria: location, methodology and accessibility. Language is also a strong factor: a large percentage of pre-schools teach exclusively in Dutch. However, there are also a significant number of English-speaking kindergartens, especially in the vicinity of The Hague. By location, you can choose one that is in your area, or one that is associated with the elementary school your child will later go to. There are several teaching methodologies that target different areas or styles of teaching. But in the end, space can be the deciding factor.
Typical day 8:30-9:00: Arrival and play with parents. Parents should wave goodbye before leaving.
9:00 am: Play activities – drawing, coloring, crafts on the theme of the month
    10:00 – Snack
10:30 – Circle – related songs and stories
10:45 – Play outside or indoors if it rains/snows
11:45 – Pick up children staying for 3 hours
12:00 – Lunch – bread and cheese or hagelslag
12:45 – Activity – movement or creative activity
13-13:30 – Pick up children staying for 5 hours
Kindergarten in the Netherlands Another option for children aged 0 to 4 is day care, where the children are looked after while the parents are at work. Children are divided either vertically, when all age groups are together (from 0 to 4 years old), or horizontally, when children are the same age. Kindergartens usually repeat the working day and are open from 7:30 am or 8:00 am to 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm. Some centers operate for half a day, and some even 24 hours a day. The flexibility of such centers may be one reason why waiting lists tend to be very long.
Child rearing The main options are childcare (oppasmoeder, gasthouder) or babysitting/couple services. The main differences are that a caregiver looks after four children in their home, while a nanny or au pair looks after your child in your home. Typically, you sign up for your own nanny or au pair, who usually looks after four children at home. This can be a very flexible option for parents.
Preparing for the first day Get some buzz around the upcoming start day. Take your child into the building with you so that he can see where the school is and look through the windows. You can talk about how your child is getting older and is already a big baby. Most importantly, be positive The first day can be overwhelming for both parent and child. Here are some tips on how to deal with it:
    Start with a good breakfast.
Remind your child of the fun of going to school (that they’ve already been there, etc.).
Perhaps offer a gift at the end of the day for good behavior.
If your child is potty trained, be sure to show him the toilet and explain who will take him away while you are away.
Reassure them that you will be there to pick them up at the end of game time.
Leave at 9in the morning, regardless of your child’s reaction – caregivers are trained to help children settle in.
On the first day, set aside time to meet with caregivers to discuss specific needs (pacifier, favorite toy, toilet training information, etc.).
    General Tips
Label clothes and bags with your child’s name
Bring fruit or snacks with you – some schools provide snacks, some do not
Bring a pair of soft, closed shoes for your child
Prepare emergency information and doctor contact information (you will complete the form on the first day)

    Preschools in the Netherlands

For many expat families, Toddler Preschool ( peuterspeelzaal ) is their first introduction to the Dutch school system. Peuterspeelzaal is an educational program that helps children aged two and a half to four prepare for school. Preschool institutions are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Social Security and Employment.

First of all, pre-school institutions are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Social Security and Employment.

Toddlers learn intellectual, emotional and educational skills such as language and numeracy, social interaction, following directions, play, sports and music. Peuterspeelzaal is open five days a week (Monday-Friday). You can choose to send your child for three or five hours (excluding/including lunch) and one to five days a week (some centers require a minimum of two days a week). Most preschools open at 8:30 am and the day lasts until 3:00 pm.

The cost of childcare is shared between parents, their employers and the government in accordance with the Dutch Childcare Act 2005. The contribution of parents depends on income. There are government fact sheets that provide complete information about child benefits. A 12-page booklet published by Sardes provides additional interesting details about the early childhood education system.

Choosing a preschool in the Netherlands

The choice of peuterspeelzaal depends on three main criteria: location, method and accessibility.

    Typical day

8:30-9:00 am: Arrival and play with parents. Parents should wave goodbye before leaving.
9:00 am: Play activities – drawing, coloring, crafts related to the theme of the month
    10:00 am – Snack time
10:30 am – Circle – related songs and stories
10:45 am – Playing outdoors or indoors if it rains/ snow
11:45 – Pick up children staying for 3 hours
12:00 – Lunch – bread and cheese or hagelslag
12:45 – Activity – movement or creative activity
13-13:30 – Pick up children staying for 5 hours

    Kindergarten in the Netherlands

Another option for children aged 0 to 4 is a day care center where the children are looked after while the parents are at work.

    Childcare

The main options are childcare ( oppasmoeder , gasthouder ) or babysitting/couple services. The main differences are that a caregiver looks after four children in their home, while a nanny or au pair looks after your child in your home. Typically, you sign up for your own nanny or au pair, who usually looks after four children at home. This can be a very flexible option for parents.

    Preparing for the first day

Make a fuss about the upcoming start day. Take your child into the building with you so that he can see where the school is and look through the windows. You can talk about how your child is getting older and is already a big baby. Most importantly, be positive

The first day can be overwhelming for both parent and child. Here are some tips on how to deal with it:

    • Start with a good breakfast.
    • Remind your child about the fun of going to school (that he has already been there, etc.).
    • Perhaps offer a gift at the end of the day for good behavior.
    • If your child is potty trained, be sure to show him the toilet and explain who will take him away while you are away.
    • Reassure them that you will be there to pick them up at the end of game time.
    • Leave at 9 am, no matter how your child reacts – caregivers are trained to help children settle in.
    • On the first day, set aside time to meet with caregivers to discuss specific needs (pacifier, favorite toy, toilet training information, etc.).

    General advice

    • Label clothes and bags with your child’s name
    • Bring fruit or snacks—some schools provide snacks, some don’t
    • Bring a pair of soft, closed shoes for your child
    • Prepare emergency information and doctor contact information (you will complete the form on the first day)

Dutch kindergarten//Kindergarten in Dutch – Time to get out? All about immigration. — LiveJournal

Let’s start with the fact that everything Dutch is called Dutch in English. And no, it doesn’t mean “Danish”, it means “Dutch” or “Dutch”.

Today I want to write a little about Dutch kindergartens. Again, I already wrote a little about this on Instagram. Now there will be a little more information, since we are already finishing going to the garden.

My son went to the Dutch Garden right after we moved. Just in a couple of days. We didn’t have time to stretch the adaptation period especially, because I had to go to work in a few days, and my husband – a month after arrival. Accordingly, during this month we needed not only to find a kindergarten for the child, but also to have time to adapt it, because, despite the fact that our child is unusually sociable and in all previous kindergartens, his adaptation period took about a couple of hours and he stayed from the first day for the whole day, yet the garden in another language is a completely different story.

Gardening in the Netherlands starts at age 0. Yes, there is no maternity leave like in Russia here. She gave birth, a couple of months to return to herself and work forward. Accordingly, a 3-month-old child in a Dutch garden is the norm. In this case, the garden lasts up to 4 years. Without exaggeration, the next day after the child’s fourth birthday, he goes to school. Despite the fact that a garden for a working woman is a forced thing, they are infinitely expensive here. To make it clearer, for a 5-day full-day week, we give away almost 2,000 euros per month. We both work full-time, so we pay the maximum for the garden.

For this reason, Dutch mothers don’t work the way we used to. As a rule, they have a 3- or 4-day work week, and even with possible home offices during these 3-4 days. If you start a conversation with a Dutch woman and say that if you have a child you work full-time, she may not say it out loud, but she will definitely think that you are a “bad mommy”.

Yes, the balance of life, or rather the Dutch approach to life balance, is very felt from our first days here. But, however, let’s continue about the garden. Not everything is so bad with its high cost. The social system provides for compensation for kindergarten, but only if both parents work. It is logical – if you both work, then you both pay taxes (which are huge here, by the way). The amount of compensation is determined individually and directly depends on income. The scale of taxation here is progressive. Accordingly, the less you earn, the more you are compensated and vice versa. Compensate up to 90% of the cost of the garden. We, of course, will be compensated much less, because we do not belong to the low-paid class. But you have to come to terms with this, the whole of Europe lives like this.

The good news is that school starts early and is free. My son turns 4 in October and is going to a public Dutch school. We will not pay for it, but only daycare will pay – what is called an aftercare in Russia.

A garden in Holland is not at all equal to a garden in Russia. The first thing that shocked me was their approach to nutrition. After Russia, where children are given the first/second/fifth/tenth, nutritional value and calorie content, etc., Dutch food in the form of sandwiches for children was nonsense for me. Yes, they are not fed porridge here, what soups are in the Netherlands they don’t know at all, and bread and cheese is considered a completely normal lunch. They are given fruits and vegetables with sandwiches. They don’t drink tea here. The son says that they give only water and milk. At first, of course, I could not understand this fact, but then I reconciled. Here it must be understood that the Dutch are not at all Italians or French in relation to food – they do not make a cult out of food. Replaced the feeling of hunger with a sandwich and will be with you. By the way, I have never seen a complete Dutchman or a Dutchwoman. They are all very tight. And high. Therefore, I myself cook the first thing at home, so that in the evening after the garden and work, the husband and child must eat a full hot meal.

They don’t really care about conditions. In the garden, everyone wears outdoor shoes, no shift. The beds are bunk beds, the lower level is right on the floor. That is, completely on the floor – the base of the bed, on it is a mattress and immediately a child. Drafts do not frighten the Dutch, sanitation is not sanitation – not a question at all. In this regard, Russian gardens are much more scrupulous.

And speaking of upbringing, there are children of different nationalities in the kindergarten. A larger number, of course, are Dutch, but there are also Indians, British, we are Russians) By the way, in our garden we are the only ones from Russia. I like that my son learns from the cradle to see the world in its cross-cultural diversity.

    Educators involve children in joint activities – they cook food together, sing songs, pour water on the street. A couple of weeks ago they were taken out as a daytime activity to the NEMO museum. Those who have been in it understand how cool it is – this is an incredibly interesting scientific children’s museum, where adults often have fun no less than kids. There, the exhibits describe physical phenomena, experiments, chemical laboratories, the planet and space, the evolution of light bulbs, and gravity are described. Everything is interactive;

They also have an application into which they upload photos every day. Especially for my husband and I, they write comments in English, because we still learn Dutch only from the lessons that our son gives us.

Well, the last thing I wanted to say is language for a child. The language was my biggest concern. My child catches on quickly, he spoke Russian very well for his age, teachers in the Russian garden repeatedly told us that for his age he speaks too complicated and full. This, of course, affected his sense of self in the group – he felt confident, because he quickly found contact with everyone, he could easily express himself and ask for what he needed or explain what exactly he did not like, so that they would help him. After the habit, it’s so easy to feel like in a team, at 3.5 years old to be surrounded by no one understands you at all, and moreover, you don’t understand anyone yourself … Oh, that was my biggest experience. I was afraid that psychological problems would not begin, as if the child would not become isolated.

Fortunately, none of this happened. Now, after almost 6 months, the son understands everything that the teachers tell him in Dutch and already replaces Russian words with Dutch ones.

The Ultimate Guide for Throwing Your Dog a Birthday Party

Dogs like humans deserve to celebrate their birthdays. After all, who doesn’t love delicious cake? In fact, nearly 11% of Americans have thrown birthday parties for their dog and 30% treat them to a special birthday present each year!

If you thought celebrating your dog’s birthday might be weird – it’s not! It’s time to get on board and throw a party for your pup, and it doesn’t have to be a fancy affair.

Not sure where to start? How is a birthday party for your dog different than a human party? We can help. Here at Dope Dog, we’ve compiled a great guide to throw a fun birthday party for your dog. Read on to learn more:

Who to Invite?

All party planning needs to start somewhere and the most natural first step is determining whom to invite. When planning a birthday party for your dog, knowing who’s coming can help you figure out where to have the birthday party for your dog and what theme to choose.

Fellow Dog Invites

As it’s a dog’s birthday party, start by listing other dogs that are good friends with your dog. Be careful and only invite dogs that have already met and familiarized themselves with your dog. Dogs that are not well socialized make bad party guests. If dogs that aren’t acquainted with your dog come to the party, this can create a stressful time for both the dogs and their owners.

When it comes to creating a list of invitees, an excellent place to start is by brainstorming other dogs your dog has played with either at the dog park, at a friend’s home, or at family gatherings. If it’s unavoidable and you need to invite dogs that haven’t been introduced to your own, then be sure to carry out introductions outside the venue rather than inside to avoid any initial territorial issues. You want the birthday party for your dog to be enjoyable for all the dogs and not become a territorial dispute.

Inviting Humans

When inviting your friends and family, check to make sure they will be comfortable having many dogs around them. Also ensure there aren’t any medical conditions, like allergies, that might make it impractical to have them there.

And finally, when or if you invite children make sure they are comfortable with being around a lot of dogs. Or if you have medium to large dogs, have the parents prepare their children for being around larger dogs. Kids may need supervision when near the dogs at the party and very young children may not be comfortable or may get scared easily by the many dogs present.

Choosing a Theme

Now that you have an idea of who will be attending, you can start brainstorming an appropriate theme for the party. There are various themes you can choose from such as:

  • A princess theme
  • A leopard theme
  • A jungle theme
  • A super hero theme
  • A generation theme (like the 70’s or 80’s)
  • A movie theme (like Star Wars)

The possibilities are only limited by your imagination and don’t have to be creative – even a simple idea such as a backyard barbecue can work! Go with a theme that sounds fun and fits with your dog’s personality. Need some inspiration? Here’s a list from The Dog People that may spark some ideas!

Picking a Venue for Your Dog

With a theme in mind, you can now start looking for an appropriate venue. Our recommendation is to keep it simple and in a familiar place that your dog is used to and feels comfortable.

We recommend a good-sized backyard. Picking an outdoor space allows you to have plenty of pups around without worrying too much about what they may do. Make sure the invited dogs are well trained if you decide to choose an indoor venue such as your house.

If you don’t have a spacious backyard or in a city, then inquire with your local doggy daycare on whether there are other appropriate venues pet owners may be allowed to rent out for special occasions. With the growing popularity of owning a dog, there are now more venues that cater to dogs. You may be surprised to find several places or businesses available to host a birthday party for your dog. Also, we’ve heard the next best option has been your local dog park or dog beach and it’s a great way to meet new pet owners who might be at the dog park during the party!

If this isn’t feasible, explore a friend or family member’s place that may have a spacious, fenced backyard you can use.

Invitations for Your Dog’s Birthday Party

Once you’ve got a list of invitees for the party, a theme, and venue. The next step is sending out invitations.

The easiest way to do this is digital invites and there are plenty you can choose from online. In your invitation, be sure to list out the details of the event beyond the when, where and theme. Let your guests know if other dogs will be in attendance and that they’ll need to let you know if they’ll be bringing their children along.

Give Your Dog a Birthday Makeover

Now that the invitations have been sent out, your pup needs to look his or her best for all their canine pals. Plus, a little puppy pamper here and there is always greatly appreciated by your dog—birthday or not!

Give your dog a fresh wash and shampoo using Dope Dog’s CBD shampoo. The shampoo is made specifically for dogs and fights against inflammation, itching, and any dryness your dog may be experiencing. Soothing Suds will have your dog smell great and be birthday-ready, leaving their coat and skin soothed and moisturized.

If you’re short on time and can’t pamper your dog yourself, you can always take him or her to a dog salon before their big day!

Food & Drinks for the Pups

All the best parties serve great food. And a birthday party for your dog is no exception. Here are a few suggestions to elevate your dog’s birthday party.

A Birthday Cake is always fun.

It’s not a birthday party without a delicious dog birthday cake for him/her. You can either choose to bake the birthday cake for your dog or pick one up from a bakery known to make pet treats.

If you’re thinking of baking a cake yourself, there are plenty of online recipes you can follow. Here’s a great one to check out.

Dogs love a variety of different dog treats.

In addition to baking a cake for your dog, you should have extra treats around for your dog and other dogs in attendance. Not all dogs have the same taste in treats, so get a couple different treats for variety or dietary needs. Try to stock up on quick treats that are smaller in size and save the more ‘rewarding’ treats, such as chewy bones, as a departing goodie bag item.

Treats are great but also let your guests know to use them sparingly with their dogs. It’s an easy way for dogs to get territorial and aggressive if they see other dogs snagging lots of treats they’d like. If any of the pups get too anxious, consider giving them a CBD treat, with their owner’s permission, of course!

Drinks are essential.

When it comes to drinks, place plenty of water bowls around so that water is readily accessible for all the dogs. Be mindful of topping them off should they run out. In a backyard on a sunny day, this can happen quite often, especially depending on how many four-legged pals arrive.

Now that we have the dogs covered, make sure you plan to have a nice spread of food and drinks for the humans too!

Activities for Dogs

Another critical element needed to throw a dog-themed birthday party is having some fun activities for the puppers in attendance. This will minimize the chaos and keep the dogs busy in a constructive way. You know your dog best, select some of their favorite things to do. Not quite sure what to do with a bunch of dogs? Here are a few suggestions:

Swimming

Swimming is a great activity that most dogs enjoy. If your dog’s birthday falls during the spring or summer, then cooling off by the pool will be a welcome activity. If you have a pool or are near the beach, let the dogs swim and play to their delight. Another option is to put out several kiddie pools and let the dogs have a splash party.

Do you live in Southern California? If so, check out our list of The Top 5 Dog Beaches in Los Angeles and Orange County.

Spa Treatment

Some dogs just love to be pampered. If your dog and her friends love to be groomed, then invite them to a total spa treatment. This can include:

  •  Doggy Yoga
  •  Pup Pedicures
  • Massages and Belly Rubs
  • Coat Grooming and Doggie Hairstyles

Your dog will love the extra attention and look great afterwards. Who doesn’t want a day at the spa?

Obstacle Courses

One easy activity that the dogs will love is to build a small obstacle course in your backyard. You can get creative and build some tunnels and jumps out of PVC pipe and sturdy storage boxes lying around, or you grab some pre-made obstacle courses. This is a great activity for everyone as it lets the guests get engaged, play with their dogs, and it creates some funny, hard to forget memories. Don’t get discouraged if the dogs don’t quite understand how to navigate the course, remember this is just for fun.

Clean Up

Now with all these treats, cakes, and excitement comes a lot of clean up. Prepare yourself mentally, a birthday party for your dog can be messy depending on what you serve or do with the dogs. Also, you’re going to want plenty of poop bags around so owners can pick up after their pets during the party. It’s also a smart idea to have scheduled breaks where the dogs in attendance can be taken for walks in case they’d like to relieve themselves.

In addition to all these, it’s good to have a few general cleaning supplies around such as pet stain and odor removers, lots of paper towels, and some lint remover for the human guests.

Planning a Dog Birthday Party for Your Pup

Nothing says “Happy Birthday” like a party thrown in your honor. And even for the adopted pups who didn’t come with a specific birth date, there is a simple option to celebrate their Gotcha Day, which is the day they joined your family. First, we are going to cover a few of the main points you should think about when planning a party for your animal best friend. can be customized

Where To Throw Your Birthday Bash

When you begin the party planning process, the first thing to think about is where you’re going to have the party. If you have a bunch of small dogs, you can easily choose a dog-friendly place, like a brewery, where they can mingle and so can the humans. If you have a group of larger dogs, you might want to have more space for them to run, like a dog park.

Many people choose to throw the party in their own backyard, especially if it’s fenced in because then you don’t have to worry about disrupting others. Consider the number of people you would like to invite when you decide on the place because you want to make sure it can comfortably accommodate the guests you are inviting.

Your Dog Birthday Party Guest List

Once you’ve got your spot picked out and you know the number of guests you want to attend, you can start putting together the guest list. List out both the human guests and the dogs so you can plan for the right amount of attendees. This is especially important for food and party favors, since you’ll probably offer items for the dogs and not just the dog owners.

Since dogs don’t come home and tell you all about their friends, you might be struggling to figure out who to invite. Check with the doggy daycare to see if there are any dogs that your pup plays with all the time. You could then reach out to the pet parents and see if they are interested in coming to the birthday party. This could be a fun way to meet more people with dogs like yours. Otherwise, you can stick with neighborhood families and friends that have or love dogs. The guest list is totally up to you and your pup will most likely be happy to see anyone that shows up.

Party Supplies for Your Doggy Party

Party decorations and supplies for your dog’s birthday party can be very simple. Puppies of any age aren’t going to have any demands on certain characters or themes, so it is completely up to you how much effort you want to put into it. There are lots of great DIY ideas and party games you can put together with little effort. Etsy is another great option to order something fun and personalized (plus you’ll be supporting a small business.)

One popular idea that costs very little is party hats. Have you ever seen a dog in a party hat? It’s wonderful. A photo booth is another easy party activity to set up. Hang a backdrop and set up a few photo booth props that match your theme and invite people to take selfies or use a phone stand and self-timer to take some pictures. For some special photos of the birthday pup, you can also utilize a chalkboard to let everyone know how old they are, some of their favorite things, and maybe a funny habit they have.

Special Dog Treats to Serve Up

Food is the central focus for any party planner. You have to prepare snacks of some kind for both your human guests and the four-legged attendees. Plan for some finger food that is easy to grab and snack on because it’s not always easy to sit down and enjoy a meal with a bunch of dogs running around and playing. Chips, veggies, fruit salad, cheese, and other similar items are simple and work as crowd-pleasers.

And of course, you need a dessert. Standard cupcakes or cookies work for people, but you can’t just use a normal cake mix for a dog cake. Check to see if there is a dog bakery in your area that does dog birthday cakes or pupcakes. You can also find some cake recipes that are dog friendly and include their favorite flavors, like peanut butter and pumpkin. In addition to dessert, make sure you have lots of water bowls out to rehydrate while playing. Maybe include some small dog treats on the tables so that the pet parents can easily reward their pups for good behavior while playing.

It’s important to remember that, like humans, some dogs have dietary restrictions, so make sure to label the items in case there’s a dog or two who needs to stay away from any of the treats.

Ideas for Doggo Party Favors

Party favors can be a fun way to thank your guests for coming to celebrate your birthday boy or girl. If you are sticking to a theme for your party, you can find a party favor that goes along with the theme. Dog toys are popular… because what dog doesn’t love a tennis ball or squeaky toy? You could also put together little goody bags with treats. Bandanas and bow ties that attach to the collars are adorable and can be used by all dogs.

Don’t go overboard on the party favors, but have some fun picking out some small gifts for the other attendees of your party. If you put them out at the beginning of the party, you’ll be able to let the whole group enjoy the toys as well.

A Dozen Party Themes for Your Dog’s Birthday

When it comes to themes and dog birthday party ideas, you have tons of options. You can ask yourself “does my dog have a favorite toy” and then build the theme around that. Did you name your dog after a character or something that you could build a theme around? Do you have children that can help you come up with a theme? This should be a fun process with very little pressure.

1. An Ice Cream Party (Complete with Doggy Cones)

Many ice cream shops offer a smaller version of the basic vanilla ice cream for dogs because it’s one of their favorite treats (always in small doses). So why not bring that concept to your pup’s party? Especially if you are hosting an event in the summer heat, this is a perfect dessert to serve that is fun for the dogs and the humans.

You can set up two separate sundae stations, one for dogs and one for humans. Include a variety of toppings that you can set out ahead of time. For the dog side, think of things like kibble, shredded carrots, bananas, coconut, and other dog-friendly options. Once it’s time to let people start dishing up. Bring out the ice cream from the freezer.

If you want to simplify the dog ice cream treats a bit, you can find Ben & Jerry’s dog ice cream, as well as other brands like Frosty Paws. These can be found at many large grocery stores around the country as well as pet food stores.

2. A Puppy Pool Party

Another great idea for warm weather celebrations is to incorporate water. Does your dog love to spend some time hanging out in the kiddie pool? Have a pool party. If you don’t have access to a pool, you can collect as many kiddie pools as you can from neighbors and friends and set them up in your yard for the dogs to splash and play.

You can also incorporate water toys that kids love like a slip and slide or a sprinkler to run through. Make sure to leave out some old towels so your party guests can be toweled off before getting back in their cars to drive home.

The water theme could be incorporated into the decorations by getting some fish balloons or handing out some cool water bowls for the party favors.

3. Tennis, Anyone?

If your dog can’t get enough of his tennis balls, build that into the theme for your party. You can visit a party store and find balloons and decorations with tennis rackets and tennis balls. Maybe you show old rounds of Wimbledon on screens in your yard for the humans and enjoy the signature drink from the U. S. Open that year.

You can also find great tennis-themed printables that will be perfect for the photo booth. Each dog can take home their own fresh pack of tennis balls as a party favor. If you’re really creative in the kitchen, you can make some tennis ball cookies and cake pops for the event as well.

For a unique event location, you can check with the local parks and recreation department to see if it’s possible to rent out the tennis court at the local park for your dog’s birthday party.

4. A Fancy Function

Give the pups a chance to put on their fanciest outfits by hosting a fancy doggy dinner party. Imagine all the cute dogs running around wearing bowties and ear bows. You could put out a red carpet (or green turf to be more on brand) for the pups to show off their outfits. Many dog owners have purchased ridiculous outfits over time, so why not invite them to dress in their Sunday best and take photos with all their canine buds.

You can serve champagne to your human guests to include them in the glamorous event. You can find little steak-shaped treats for the dogs. Put together little swag bags for favors and have fun with the party decorations using gold and silver balloons and some confetti if you’re feeling ambitious enough to vacuum it all up later.

5. Puppy’s First Birthday

Puppies are a treat, but they are also a ton of hard work because you spend the first year trying to potty train them and work on obedience. You’ve survived the first year with a lot of middle-of-the-night potty breaks and lots of chewing. So, having a puppy birthday party to celebrate your dog’s first birthday is a fun way to say goodbye to the puppy phase and usher in the “teenage” years.

Think about all the things that parents typically do for a one-year-old’s birthday party and alter them to work for a dog. Work with a dog bakery to make a smash cake that you can give to your pup while you are holding a camera and get some great photos of them just crushing it. Hand out party hats and have everyone sing along and celebrate this special milestone birthday.

6. A Breed-Specific Bash

Incorporate the breed of your pup with their party. There are many ways to do this. One way is to think about where the breed originated. For example, if you have a German Shorthaired Pointer, you pay homage to the country that the breed comes from and have a German birthday party. There is dog beer that you can find and you can serve pretzels and make it an Oktoberfest theme.

Each dog breed has a special skill and you can incorporate that in the party. Herding dogs are able to round up a field full of farm animals, so you could throw them a farm-themed party. Another option is to celebrate famous dogs of the same breed, so if you have a Dalmatian, you could have a 101 Dalmatians themed party.

Many dog trainers say you should lean into the things that each specific breed is known for because it provides great engagement and works their brains and bodies in a way that feels natural for the dogs. Have some fun with that when celebrating their birthday.

7. Pup Pampering With a Spa Pawty

Do you want to really spoil the pups for your event? Host a pampered pooch party for your dog and some of their pupper friends. Hire a mobile groomer to come to the party. These services are available now in most cities and the groomers arrive with all the supplies and tools. This can be a big benefit for the other pet parents who might struggle to find time to bring their pups in to get their nails trimmed or get a nice bath.

Have some fun with dog-friendly hair dye or nail polish if you want to give everyone the chance to do something a little funky and unique for their pets. Make sure that, if you want them all to have playtime, you do that ahead of time so everyone can get their energy out and relax during their pampering session.

If you want to do something special for the people who come, you can lay out face masks, have a masseuse come to do quick shoulder or foot massages, or just serve some great detox juices and healthy snacks.

8. Canine Cinema

Some of the best movies that have come out of Hollywood center around dogs, so why not throw a movie-themed birthday party? Some dogs even tend to perk up and pay attention to the screen when they hear dogs barking and playing. Choose between classics like Lady and the Tramp, Scooby-Doo, or Homeward Bound and put it on a big outdoor screen in the backyard.

Make sure to serve popcorn and some puppy treats to the guests during the show. Lay out blankets and set up chairs in the backyard for everyone to sit back and relax. For many Disney movies, you can easily find party decorations with those characters on them if you want to really stick to the theme.

9. Doggo Games and Obstacle Courses

High energy dogs will need a high energy party. Consider setting up an agility course for your pups. Some dog parks already have these obstacles set up, but you can also DIY them in your own backyard. Using treats, you can invite each pet parent to guide their pup through the obstacle course. The common items include bars to jump over, hoops to jump through, or tunnels to crawl through.

You can make it into an Olympics theme or even feature your favorite professional sports team with your decorations. Make up some awards, like the most creative maneuver in the course or the fastest time. Have fun with it and, hopefully, you’ll all leave the party with worn-out and happy dogs.

10. A Canine Costume Party

Do you have a drawer in your home somewhere filled with Halloween costumes for your dog? You are not alone, so why not give everyone a chance to use those costumes for an event other than Halloween. Invite your friends and their pets over and ask them all to dress up. You can serve classic birthday cake and have fun playing and mingling.

To really encourage participation, hand out some awards for things like the best dog costume, best human costume, and even the best pair—so people can dress up to match their pup!

11. Over the Hill

Many adults have big milestone birthdays for their 40th (or even 50th) birthday party where they have an “Over the Hill” theme. This is a funny play on the fact that they are over the hill of their life and are in the second half of their lifetime. Black is usually the color of choice and there are all kinds of silly gag gifts that come along with these parties.

Any theme you can do for people, you can make a few changes and put it together for pups too. If your dog is reaching their later years in life, it doesn’t mean they can’t have some fun. Throw your pup an Over the Hill party and take advantage of all the fun decorations they have for people and make it work for the pup. Give out joint supplements for dogs as party favors and include party activities that involve lounging around and being a little lazy instead of high-energy activities.

Birthdays can be celebrated at any age, so have some fun with your event! We promise, your dog can take the joke and won’t be upset with you. They will love getting extra attention and ear scratches for the day.

12. Laid-Back Hawaiian Luau

Hawaiian-themed parties are always a blast. There are Hawaiian shirts for people and dogs of all sizes and shapes, so it’s easy to help people get in the mood. You can make shaved ice treats for all attendees and even serve up a roasted pig if you’re having a huge party (with tiny bits that the dogs can sample).

Set up a Limbo game for humans to try and lead your dogs through. Put on a nice soundtrack of music that you would listen to at the beach or next to the pool in a tropical location. Mix up some fruity, ice-cold drinks for the people and maybe some simple frozen fruit treats for the dogs as well.

Start Planning a Fun Dog Birthday Party!

Remember, this process should be fun and never stressful or overwhelming. Dogs don’t know when it’s their birthday, so they definitely aren’t going to notice if you skip a year or only do this once in their life. But the parties are a time to make some great memories, take some great photos, and surround yourself with dogs having fun which is the greatest gift itself.

Looking for some nice and simple ways to celebrate your dog’s birthday? You’ve come to the right place.

Our dogs are part of the family, so when it comes to their birthday we want to make it special. The good news is there’s plenty of fun and easy ways to make your dog’s birthday memorable.

So if you’re not sure what to do to celebrate your dog’s birthday don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. From hosting a doggie birthday party to having a special movie night, here’s 10 fun ways to celebrate your dog’s birthday.

1. Host a Doggie Birthday Party

If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate your dog’s birthday you can host your own doggie birthday party. Invite some of your friends and family over (along with their friendly dogs) to celebrate.

If you’ve never had a bunch of doggie guests over to your home before I recommend starting small. When it comes to doggie birthday parties there’s nothing wrong with keeping it intimate; having a few doggie friends over will be more than enough to make it a memorable day for your dog. You can serve dog friendly cake, give out “doggie bags” filled with treats & goodies, and play some fun doggie games.

If you’re going to be holding your dog party outside remember to make sure that all of the dogs have access to fresh water and shade at all times. And remember to keep an eye on things and make sure the dogs are supervised at all times.

2. Let Your Dog Pick Out a Gift

If you’re looking to get your dog an extra special gift for their birthday try letting them pick it out themselves. Take your dog to your local dog-friendly pet store and have them browse the aisles and pick out their own gift.

3. Make a (Dog Friendly) Cake or Treats

You can show your dog some extra love on their birthday by making them a special treat. You can make your dog a pupcake (dog friendly cake) by using some puppy cake mix, or you can make one of these homemade dog cake recipes:

  • Doggie Birthday Cake
  • Mini-Berry Almond Cake
  • Grain-Free Peanut Butter Apple Cake
  • Dog Friendly Cake

If you prefer treats over cake check out these 25 easy homemade dog treat recipes.

4. Explore a New Trail With Your Dog

How much does your dog love their daily walk? You can make your walk extra special on their birthday by taking them somewhere brand new. Explore a new hiking trail together or take your dog to a new park. To make it even more fun for them remember to give them some extra time to sniff around and take in all those new and exciting smells.

5, Pamper & Spoil Your Dog On Their Birthday

If you want an easy way to make your dog’s birthday extra special make it like a doggie spa day by pampering them. Spoil them and give them some extra love and attention on their special day. Give them a nice homemade meal, an extra long walk, a stuffed Kong, a relaxing doggie massage, and some nice cuddle time on the couch.

6. Turn It Into a Game Day

Another fun way to celebrate your dog’s birthday is by turning it into a game day. Rather than celebrating your favorite team together set aside some time to play some extra games with your dog. Our dogs love to play, and engaging in some extra games on their birthday is a simple way to ensure it’s a fun day for them. Some of my favorite doggie games include:

  • Fetch/Frisbee
  • Hide & Seek
  • Tug of War
  • Food Dispensing Toys
  • Find The Treats

7. Let Your Dog Unwrap a Present

My dog Laika gets a fun new toy on her birthday, and I make the unveiling process a little more exciting for her by letting her unwrap it. If your dog doesn’t have unwrapping experience keep it simple by using a gift bag. Remember to watch them closely — some dogs have a tendency to eat anything in sight, including wrapping paper and shredded bags.

8. Set Up a Doggie Playdate

Another simple way to make your dog’s birthday extra fun is by setting up a doggie playdate for them. Invite your dog’s best dog friend over for some play time. It may seem rather simple, but that one on one play time is really fun (and exhausting) for your dog. Just remember to keep an eye on things, and make sure the dogs have access to fresh water at all times.

9. Take Your Dog For a Swim

Most dogs love to swim, so if you want to make their birthday a fun one turn it into a swim day. You can take your dog to the local beach, or search for any dog friendly pools in your area. Just remember to keep an eye on your dog at all times, and follow the basic swimming safety tips for dogs such as bringing along fresh water and cleaning them off afterwards.

10. Have a Doggie Movie Night

One of my favorite ways to celebrate my dog’s birthday is by having a movie night. Put on your pajamas, make some popcorn, and cuddle up with your dog on the couch and watch some movies together. Bonus points if you watch dog movies.

How Do You Celebrate Your Dog’s Birthday?

How do you celebrate your dog’s birthday? Have you ever hosted your own doggie birthday party? Do you wrap your dog’s presents? Does cuddling up on the couch with your dog watching movies sound like a perfect evening, or is it just me?

How to celebrate a dog’s birthday?

When organizing a celebration, an individual approach is important – so you can please your four-legged pet as much as possible. Draw on your pet’s key qualities, habits, and preferences when designing your dog’s birthday party concept.

Let’s remember the main points, without which the festive atmosphere is unthinkable:

Among the many fun and easy ways to organize a dog’s birthday in a special way, we suggest taking note of the seven most interesting congratulation ideas.

1. Treat your pet with an entertaining gift

Do you want to give your dog maximum pleasure on his birthday? Start with gift wrapping. Wrap a toy or other item prepared for the occasion in special paper, and let the dog try to unfold it on its own. To rustle, turn over, gnaw – how interesting it is! Make sure the birthday person does not accidentally swallow a piece of gift wrapping.

2. Organize a game day

A dog’s birthday will be special for him if he spends it actively: frolicking, running, jumping, sniffing and looking for hidden things. Use interesting games:

Take a break between games, allowing your pet to quench his thirst and hunger. End the play marathon on your dog’s birthday with a special treat to help replenish their lost energy.

3. Trust the birthday boy to choose a present

An excellent way to make your dog’s birthday unforgettable is to let him choose a present himself. Find a pet store that you can go to with your pets and go there with the birthday boy. Let your dog walk around the store and choose the most attractive toy, and maybe several.

4. Go to the “amusement park”

Today there are many specialized places where you can have fun and usefully spend a dog’s birthday. Take your pet to one of these establishments or organize leisure activities yourself, for example:

  • set up a massage parlour;

  • fill the dog pool;

  • equip an obstacle course;

  • fill the room with tennis balls;

  • hang dog bones at different heights;

  • arrange a photo shoot in dog costumes.

5. Walk a new route

Take an unusual and uncharted route on your dog’s birthday. You can take your pet to a large park that you have not visited together and let him sniff all the paths, benches, and bushes. So the pet will show his instincts and satisfy curiosity, enjoy new exciting smells.

6. Organize a dog party

Invite your friends and relatives to a party along with their friendly pets. The presence of a few dog friends will suffice.

The dog’s birthday will be fun and easy if the guests have something to do all the time. To do this, make a holiday program, for example:

  • welcome guests;

  • handing out festive caps;

  • taking out the dog cake;

  • sing a song for the birthday boy;

  • handing out bags of dog treats;

  • play games.

In warm weather, you can have an outdoor party for your dog. The main thing is that pets have free access to drinking water and the opportunity to hide from the sun in the shade.

7. Help other animals

Make the most of your dog’s birthday by asking invited guests to donate to an animal welfare fund or any dog shelter in need of financial assistance to keep their pets. A donation is a wonderful alternative to a gift.

How to organize a dog’s birthday and what to give a pet

How to celebrate a dog’s birthday? This question is often of interest to owners of four-legged pets. Undoubtedly, with the appearance of a furry critter in the house, each of us understands that he used to live an incomplete life and can no longer imagine life without a little fluffy “robber”.

We forgive them any pranks: chewed up new expensive shoes, “eaten” sofa, sleepless nights due to the fact that your dog ate some disgusting thing on the street and he is sick and weak.

We suffer and find no place for ourselves when they are sick and sick, and we just rush about, not knowing how to help them.

And, in the end, we rejoice in each of their achievements, each new command executed the first time. We are glad that the baby pooped on the diaper, ate well, did not bark when you left for work.

And all this because we love them boundlessly. We love not for something, but we love for the fact that it is they who, with their boundless devotion and faith in us, make us be a little kinder and more responsive. We are everything to them, we are the whole world to them.

Therefore, a dog’s birthday for a four-legged owner is no less significant event in life than all other holidays. But your beloved dog will not be able to say what gift he would like to receive and how he would like to celebrate his birthday. Therefore, you will have to think for yourself how to please your faithful friend and celebrate the dog’s birthday.

Choosing a place to celebrate

Let’s try to think not like a human, but like a dog. So, I am a dog.

How do I want to spend my holiday? At home, in an uncomfortable cardboard cap that keeps slipping off and scratching your ears? Or maybe I want to dance around me and sing songs?

No, it’s not for me. Of course, you can put on a cap, like that for 2-3 minutes, but only in order to take good photos. Well, then – get out of the house, into the street, run, jump, frolic!

So, the best way to celebrate a dog’s birthday is a trip to nature:

  • A few hours in the fresh air, carrying tasty sticks, frolicking and chasing pigeons and ducks, wallowing in fragrant grass, or swimming in a warm pond – that’s it dog happiness.
  • And in winter – in winter you can swim in the snow, dig tunnels in it, eat snow and jump after fluffy snowflakes – unforgettable impressions.
  • Yes, you can just lie in the shade in the fresh air, enjoying various smells, listen carefully to every rustle, basking under the owner’s barrel.
  • And you can gather all the yard four-legged friends and arrange crazy games with catching flying saucers and tennis balls.
  • Or even just chase the neighbor’s cat in the country, catch a frog and dig a huge hole, trying to get a mole.
  • Well, in the evening, after returning home, munch a delicious congratulatory treat and fall asleep, cozying up in your soft and warm couch.

Well, how do you like this dog’s birthday? Really great?!

What to give your pet for his birthday

Choosing a gift for a dog’s birthday is easy and difficult at the same time. I want to give everything to my beloved prankster. You go to the pet store – your eyes just run up. Beautiful collars, fashionable outfits, goodies, luminous medallions. But does your furry need all this? He doesn’t care what collar he wears, what bowl he eats from, or whether he’s wearing a jumpsuit from the new collection and not from last year’s collection.

Better buy your favorite prankster a toy. But one he really likes. You must know what he likes.

Well, the best gift for a dog’s birthday is to spend the whole day with his beloved owner. Yes, not just lazily sitting at home on the couch, but so that the owner runs, has fun and jumps along with the tail. I would throw sticks and toys to him, swim with him in the lake, lie on the grass.

How to make a delicious birthday treat

Some pet owners allow their pets to swallow a piece of sausage or a delicious candy to celebrate their birthday. Under no circumstances should this be done. Otherwise, the dog’s birthday may end up going to the veterinary clinic.

Do not disturb your usual diet. You can only pamper your pet a little with small pieces of delicacies, the recipes of which I want to offer you today.

Cottage cheese casserole

You will need:

  • 2 tsp. butter.
  • 200 gr. cottage cheese.
  • 2 yolks.
  • 2 tbsp. l. oatmeal.

Mix everything well until smooth and steam for 10-15 minutes. Or pour into a mold and bake for 10-15 minutes in a preheated oven.

Cabbage cutlets for the dog’s birthday

You will need:

  • 500 gr. meat (beef heart, poultry meat, chicken liver – all in equal proportions).
  • 100 gr. cauliflower.
  • 1 egg white.
  • 5 tbsp. l. buckwheat porridge (not cereals, but ready-made boiled porridge).
  • Some milk.
  • 2 tbsp. l. bran.
  • Bone meal and dried seaweed, half a tablespoon each.

Mince meat and cauliflower. Add buckwheat porridge, protein, milk, bran, flour and dried cauliflower to this mixture. We make flat cutlets and bake in the oven for 20 minutes. A great treat for a dog’s birthday is ready.

Sweet biscuits

You will need:

  • 3 cups of flour.
  • 1 cup applesauce.
  • 100 gr. butter.
  • Half glass of water.
  • Olive oil and honey, 2 tbsp each l.

Mix everything except flour until smooth. Add flour, mix thoroughly. Form cookies, put on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Turn over and leave in the oven for another 10 minutes.

Chicken balls

You will need:

  • 300 gr. chicken liver or any other chicken meat.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 200 gr. flour.
  • Some milk.
  • Greens.

Grind the chicken in a meat grinder, add eggs, milk, flour. If the mass turned out to be liquidish, then you can add more flour.

You can also experiment and add zucchini, carrots, grated on a coarse grater to the balls. You can add some boiled rice and greens.

Shape into small balls with your hands. Boil them in boiling water until they float, or bake them in a preheated oven. Let them cool slightly to room temperature. You can serve your pet!

Liver cake

You will need:

  • 300 gr. liver.
  • 150 gr. zucchini.
  • 1 carrot.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 100 gr. milk.
  • 150 gr. sour cream.
  • 100 gr. flour.
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil.

Scroll the liver and zucchini through a meat grinder, add milk, 2 eggs, flour, vegetable oil and mix everything thoroughly. Divide the resulting mass into 4-5 equal parts.

Spread each part in an even layer on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Remove from the oven, cool and turn the resulting liver pancake onto a cutting board. We also bake the rest.

Boil carrots, rub them on a coarse grater. We put the first pancake on a plate, grease it with sour cream, then put the grated carrots, and then the next pancake. And according to the same scheme, we lay all the other layers.

Top the cake with sour cream. You can boil another egg and grate it on top on a grater. We remove the cake for 1-2 hours to the side so that it soaks. I think that such a tasty treat will be a great gift for a dog’s birthday.

The liver cake can be made even easier:

  • We twist the liver in a meat grinder, add an egg, milk, a little flour.
  • We bake liver pancakes in the oven.
  • Lay on a dish, soaking each layer with kefir.
  • Top with grated cheese and grated boiled carrots.

You can watch the video recipe for making beef liver meat cake.

And in this video, see what a jelly cake we made for Jack on his ninth bone day!

Well, today I told you about how to celebrate a dog’s birthday so that your beloved pet is happy.

Love your furry and take care of them. Well, if someone is ready to share their recipes, we will always be glad to see new dishes that you can pamper your four-legged friends with.

How to celebrate a dog’s birthday?

Celebration, gifts, congratulations to the dog on his birthday – this is not at all stupid, as it may seem from the outside. Dear dogs, we are the happiest people, because we always have devoted, infinitely loyal friends who do not notice shortcomings and forgive any insults! Why not celebrate the day on which the irreplaceable tailed miracle was born?

It’s a pity that you can’t ask your pet what he would like. Rather, you can ask something, but getting an answer, to put it mildly, is problematic. You will have to think for yourself: what to give a dog, how to please a pet, where and with whom to celebrate a significant date? You can do like most: read happy birthday poems to the dog, feed the pet with ice cream and sweets, dress him up in a cap and a funny costume, call a bunch of guests.

Only now, an uncomfortable cap and an elaborate outfit hinder movement, sweet things make eyes water and stomach itch, noisy guests annoy, and happy birthday poems make a dog neither cold nor hot. No, you can wear a cap, for example, when meeting guests or taking pictures. And inviting friends, four-legged and two-legged, is also a great idea if the pet is sincerely happy about their arrival (although dogs don’t know how to rejoice in another way, for which we love them). But still, it’s better to try to think like a dog than like a human. After all, it’s the dog’s birthday, and the main goal is to make the pet happy.

Home comfort or new experiences?

How wonderful that all dogs have a unique disposition! Only give one free will – they will wind up kilometers from morning to night. Others are absolutely happy, lying next to their beloved owner on their own sofa. What is your pet’s personality?

The best birthday greeting for a dog is a trip to nature. Spending a few hours outdoors chasing squirrels and carrying delicious sticks, chewing juicy grass and basking in the sun is unforgettable! What if it’s winter? Well, many dogs love to dig in the snow, dig tunnels and, pretending to be deaf (Spit, who do I say?!), stuff their mouths with snow.

Your dog doesn’t like running and fuss at all? Grab a blanket and goodies for guests of all stripes, sit in the shade. And let a clumsy fat man or a venerable dog slowly explore the surroundings, smells and sounds of nature. Even just lying around and breathing fresh air, not hurrying home after “peeing” is already happiness. And if the dog’s birthday fell on absolutely unacceptable weather for such outings?

You can sit at home and arrange crazy games. The pet is not very athletic and likes to take a nap? For such a dog, the height of pleasure is to spend the whole day in the company of a loved one, “talking”, basking in affection and looking into the eyes of his best friend. It seems to you that such a pastime is a little like a holiday. But the doggie, who sees the owner in the morning and in the evening, considers every weekend a holiday.

Does your pet love meeting new people and craving new experiences? Then how to celebrate the dog’s birthday depends only on your financial capabilities. If your pet does not have enough communication with their own kind, go to the exhibition. As a spectator, of course, in the ring – this is not a vacation. You will definitely like the audience there. And the birthday boy will have plenty of fun with well-mannered, non-aggressive, healthy and clean dogs. Why not a birthday present for your beloved dog? If the pet prefers to communicate with bipeds, go to the spa for dogs, where the attentive staff will kiss on the nose and massage, and bring beauty. Dog, not you. Dreaming!

On the way, you can look into the dog cafe, where the hero of the occasion will certainly be fed with various goodies and useful things. And without risk to the stomach – no “hangover” in the form of heaps and puddles in the morning. Maybe your friend likes to swim? Then to the lake, and in winter – to a rented cottage with a swimming pool. Expensive, of course, but you will rest with the whole family.

What can I give you, not my dear man?

Choosing a gift for a dog’s birthday is both simple and difficult at the same time. You go to the pet store – your eyes run wide. Shiny bowls, collars with rhinestones, trendy jumpsuits, luminous key chains, cosmetics, combs! But answer honestly, does the dog need it? Affectionate fool doesn’t care what bowl she eats from and what collar to wear, a new shampoo will not touch a furry soul, a haute couture dress will only excite a dog neighbor.

Buy a toy for your pet. Yes, not simple, but … No, you don’t need gold – this is again human aspirations. Buy a toy that is interesting, interactive or logical, something that will really captivate your pet. Sonya can be pleased with a warm lounger with comfortable sides. In general, sit next to the dog, but look into her eyes. You will see how an excerpt from a children’s song sounds in them: “Finally, all dreams come true! My best gift is you! The attention of a loved one is the best gift for a dog’s birthday, and no material values \u200b\u200bcan replace it.

Treat

Many owners allow their pets to “in honor of the holiday” eat a piece of fatty sausage and sip a chocolate bar, and some (“some”, if you are reading this, hit yourself lightly on the forehead) even pour a glass! A kind of fun: first we think about how to celebrate the dog’s birthday, and then we wonder how to pump out the birthday boy and which clinic to run to, because the unfortunate man returned a half-digested treat a couple of hours ago, but continues to stain the furniture with liquids of a cheerful color.

If your pet has health problems, don’t think about deviating from the usual menu. If a happy gourmet easily tolerates a change in diet, we offer several recipes for dishes for dogs. Compared to the “human” ones, they may seem modest, but you are preparing for the dog’s birthday, and here the main thing is taste and safety, and not the pretentiousness of the ingredients. And to add solemnity, you can give the treat a thematic form.

Tasty morsels:

  • butter 2 tsp;
  • non-sour curd 200 gr.;
  • 2 yolks;
  • oatmeal 2 tbsp;

Mix well, stick on heart bows, steam for 15 minutes.

Cutlets “Cabbage Delight”:

  • kidneys, beef, poultry meat in equal proportions;
  • cauliflower 100 gr.;
  • protein 1 pc.;
  • buckwheat porridge (not cereal, already prepared porridge) 5 tbsp;
  • some milk;
  • bran 2 tbsp;
  • bone meal and dried seaweed, half tbsp.

Turn the meat in a meat grinder, mix everything. Milk is needed to give the minced meat a consistency (buckwheat and flour take moisture, minced meat will turn out dry without milk). We make flat cutlets of a festive shape, and bake in the oven for 20 minutes.

Cookies “Sweet moment”:

  • flour 3 cups;
  • half glass of applesauce;
  • butter 100 gr.;
  • half a glass of water;
  • olive oil and honey, 2 tbsp each

Mix everything except flour until smooth. Add flour, mix thoroughly. Form cookies, put on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Turn over and leave in the oven for another 10 minutes.

Layered Surprise Cake:

We bake cakes according to the recipe for cabbage cutlets (layers of any shape and in any quantity). For the filling, we take meat or fish, turn it through a meat grinder and mix with mashed boiled or raw vegetables (potatoes, carrots, the same cabbage – the taste of the birthday man).
