From the creator of Busy Toddler, this is a new kind of homeschool preschool curriculum. Fast, easy, and affordable.

Playing Preschool Year 1 is a 19 unit curriculum designed to introduce children to a variety of learning concepts in a fun and exciting way. This program is play-based, hands-on, and designed for at home use. Playing Preschool is “evergreen” so you can start this program at any point in the year, in any hemisphere of the world!

  • This program is not time consuming. Each day takes about 45 minutes.
  • This program is not sit and do work. These activities are all about moving and playing.
  • This program is not going to cost you an arm and a leg to set up. Most supplies are already found in your house.

For even more detailed information about the Playing Preschool Program, check out this giant post.

YOU CAN ALSO CHECK OUT THE PLAYING PRESCHOOL FAQ PAGE FOR MORE ANSWERS.

Playing Preschool Year 1 is designed for children ages 2.5 – 5 years old. The program is incredibly open-ended and full of opportunities to adjust the level of activities to meet the needs of the specific child. My children were 2.5 and 4 year old when I wrote this program and they both learned so much.

I was very deliberate in designing a program that can be used with multiple ages of children. You’ll even find my “extension” notes throughout the program with my ideas for how to extend an activity to meet different developmental needs.

The beauty of an open-ended program is its ability to meet the child where the child is at.

It’s a homeschool preschool curriculum built on simple, engaging, and active play-based learning. Each unit in Year 1 is two weeks long so it’s a 330+ page program with 190 days of activities.  And that’s what this is: educational activities, full of learning but without the pressure, length, or expense of traditional school.

Plus, there’s a clear sequence and progression of skills in this program so as children grow and develop, so do the activities. You’ll notice quickly that the activities in Unit 19 are a lot more challenging than in Unit 1.

Here’s a look at the skills your child will work with each week:

  • Sorting
  • Predicting
  • Alphabet Knowledge
  • Recall and Retell
  • Shapes
  • Measurement
  • Number Sense

But that’s not all! This program is full of science activities, fine motor skill, gross motor activities, art and sensory based activities.

This program is so much more than just straight academic learning. It’s about building background knowledge of key skills and information that will help your child in their “school years.” The 19 topics introduce your child to so many important and new concepts, ones they may not have considered yet.

Don’t forget about my giant blog post – the one that goes into way more detail. Find it here.

There’s also the PLAYING PRESCHOOL FAQ PAGE.

I hear you and that’s great!

The goal with Playing Preschool is to move kids away from memorized learning. We want them to understand letters as a building block and tool for reading, to see letters in the world around them, and to form a base for when they are ready to read. We want our kids to really know their letters. Not just have some symbols memorized.

Here, we are going deeper and moving away from surface level learning. Many of the alphabet activities in Playing Preschool are ones I used as a first grade teacher – because even seven year olds who are fluent readers still need these kinds of alphabet lessons.

What we are working on in Playing Preschool is moving beyond basic low level skills like listing, repeating, and stating facts. It’s fairly easy to memorize the order of numbers or letters in the alphabet (it’s actually similar to identifying animals – you are learning the name of an object and the sound it makes: “That’s a cow. It says ‘moo.’” “That’s an Aa. It says /aaa/.”)… which is why, we want to go so much deeper with these skills.

What about numbers? Same thing. Kids need to learn more than the order of some words (that’s all counting is). In Playing Preschool, we work on understanding value, comparing numbers, and using numbers to measure and discuss data. We order, label, discuss, and dissect numbers. This is so much more than counting.

Remember: repetition and practice are a good thing. It’s important. Consider LeBron James: he still goes to practice every day and takes simple shots. Why? Because he knows that repetition and practice are important.

A week is 5 days of learning activities. Here’s what each day looks like:

  • Start the day: calendar, song/poem, and an introduction to the topic
  • A read aloud hand picked to fit the theme
  • “Things to Talk About”: a conversation to have with your child about the book/theme
  • A learning activity – an activity usually done by parent AND child to develop a targeted skill and fits with the unit theme
  • An easy activity – a quick & easy themed activity that the child can typically do independently

First of all, I created an amazing 20+ page document to show you the ins and outs of this program. In the Start-Up Guide, I’ll share with you my tips and tricks for teaching Playing Preschool, because I know what it’s like trying to learn a new curriculum. I want to give you all my teaching knowledge to help you (and your child) be successful.

Each week has a unit overview so you’ll get a snapshot of how the week will look.

Each day has a detailed lesson plan so you’ll have clear directions for how to teach your child.

Does workplace financial wellness just mean an employer paying off debts?

While offering to help pay off an employee’s debt may be one of the benefits offered by an employer, workplace financial wellness also includes coaching and financial training for employees.

How is workplace financial wellness linked to healthcare spending?

Employees that are financially stressed are more likely to fall ill and require medical attention. If an employer provides health insurance, this cost will be paid by the company. An organization may find it to be cost-effective to increase workplace financial wellness in order to reduce healthcare spending.

What are some challenges when implementing a workplace financial wellness program?

One of the most commonly reported challenges for increasing workplace financial wellness is in how to reach the appropriate employees. Given how delicate the issue of personal finances can be, it is no wonder that forty percent of employers surveyed find this to be an anticipated or actual challenge in implementation.

Can workplace financial wellness include an employee tuition assistance program?

Student loan repayment benefits, an employer educational assistance program, or an employee tuition assistance program may be a part of a workplace financial wellness program, and are powerful tools for helping employees achieve financial wellness.

Why would anyone want their employer to know about their debts?

When people are in debt, the experience can be overwhelming. Debt consolidation or counseling services sometimes require people to take out new loans, and it can be hard to sort through it all. An employer actually has an interest in helping their employees become financially well.

Preschool age is decisive in the formation of the foundation of physical and mental health. Until the age of 7, a person goes through a huge path of development, which is unique throughout his subsequent life. It is during this period that the intensive development of organs and the formation of the functional systems of the body take place, the main personality traits are laid, the character, attitude towards oneself and others is formed.

It is very important at this stage to form a base of knowledge and practical skills of a healthy lifestyle in children, a conscious need for systematic physical education and sports. The prevalence in the structure of the revealed pathology of diseases of the nervous system, organs of vision and pathology of the musculoskeletal system (especially in the age group of 6-7 years) in most cases indicates the inevitable involvement of preschool children in the age of information technology (long-term viewing of television programs and access to computer games ). And the upcoming years of schooling, inevitably entailing increased demands on the still unformed central nervous system, musculoskeletal system, as well as increased loads on the visual analyzer, emphasize the relevance of all recreational activities carried out during this period.

The formation of a viable younger generation –

One of the main tasks of our kindergarten.

The first steps towards health, the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, self-knowledge, and the formation of a health culture are taken in a preschool institution.

In our garden, an integrated approach to the organization of a health-saving space: strengthening, maintaining the health of our pupils. The team of employees is purposefully working to create a favorable health-saving space, is looking for new modern methods and techniques that are adequate for the age of preschoolers, and uses best practices in their work.

9 00, 00 00 05 005 A range of measures aimed at maintaining the health of the child at all stages of his education and development is being mastered in our kindergarten. There are various forms and types of activities aimed at preserving and strengthening the health of our pupils. Their complex has now received the general name “health-saving technologies”.

One of the most important stages in the life of every child is admission to a preschool institution. The kindergarten has created optimal conditions for a comfortable stay of children, as well as their comprehensive development.

The formation, preservation and strengthening of the health of all preschool children.

  • Compliance with the temperature regime, ventilation, according to SanPiN.
  • Lightweight clothing in kindergarten (inside the institution).
  • Morning exercises.
  • Gymnastics after sleep.
  • Tempering procedures (according to the age of the children).
  • Ribbed tracks – for the prevention of flat feet.
  • Proper organization of walks and their duration.
  • observance of seasonal clothes of pupils (individual work with parents).
  • Elbow-deep washing of hands with cool water – middle-older age.
  • Vitamin therapy
  • Health Week (2 times a year). Three times a week, children attend physical education classes conducted by a physical education instructor, including once (according to weather conditions) physical education classes are held outdoors (on a specially equipped sports ground). In addition, sports games and competitions are held, including outdoors.
  • Folk remedies (wearing pendants with garlic) are used to prevent viral infections.
  • During the period of increased incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and acute respiratory infections – vaccination of kindergarten students (with the consent of the parents) and employees is carried out.
  • In groups, educators conduct corrective and breathing exercises with children after daytime sleep.
  • Air, solar hardening is carried out (in summer).
  • Regularly carried out gymnastics for the eyes to prevent myopia. An important role in the framework of health-saving programs is given to anti-epidemic work and medical control of the catering unit in accordance with the current sanitary and hygienic rules.
  • Vitamin prophylaxis is carried out (vitaminization of third courses).
  • Sound and articulation gymnastics are also carried out with children; logorhythm (with the participation of a physical education instructor, music director).

The above recreational measures are aimed at maintaining the existing health potential and at timely correction of emerging deviations. For this purpose, children attending kindergarten are annually examined by a pediatrician, older groups by narrow specialists.

Much attention is paid to sanitary and educational work. Folders for moving, screens for parents are drawn up on various topics: “Adaptation of children to a preschool”, “Hardening a child at home”, “Rational nutrition and daily routine”, “Dirty hands are a source of intestinal infections”, “Prevention of colds”, “Prophylactic vaccinations and their significance”, etc.

Today I baked an interesting apple pie. It is interesting because the filling is triple, and at the same time very simple. And the taste is incredible!

I have success, I have issued and started taking the child to kindergarten. After 3 days of visiting the garden, my daughter got a runny nose and cough. I remembered all the recommendations of doctors, especially regarding drinking plenty of water, and I try to give my child water as often as possible.

In order to make the process of tea drinking more interesting, I decided to bake an apple pie for my daughter. But not a simple pie, but with a twist.

The filling in this apple pie is apple halves stuffed with tangerine and cottage cheese with honey. In other words, the cake is maximally saturated with vitamins and minerals for the speedy recovery of your beloved child.

There is little dough in the pie, but there are a lot of juicy fruits. Mandarin with apple gave the taste a pleasant sourness, and honey – a mild sweetness. The pie tasted very good.

Difficulty of preparation: medium

Cooking time: 1.5 hours

In order to make an apple pie we need:

For the test:

  • milk – 150 g (I try to take homemade, fatter)

  • butter – 50-60 g (vegetable oil can be used)

  • granulated sugar – 2 tbsp. (for lovers of a sweet taste, I recommend taking a little more sugar)

  • salt – 0.5 tsp

  • fresh yeast – 20 g

  • wheat flour – 500 g (amount may vary slightly depending on flour)

For the filling:
– apples – 6 pcs.
– tangerine – 1 pc.
– cottage cheese – 100 g
– cream or sour cream -100 g
– honey – 1 tsp slide

We heat the milk to 40 degrees (approximately). Put butter and sugar in milk. Add yeast and wait 7-10 minutes for it to become active.

Gradually add flour and salt. Knead the dough.

We leave it for half an hour to come up.
At this time, wash, peel and cut the apples into halves. Clean out the middle.
You can do this last so that the apples do not darken. Or you can sprinkle them with lemon juice.
We wash, clean and disassemble the tangerine into slices.

In a separate bowl, mix cottage cheese, cream and honey.

From half of the dough we form a circle with a diameter slightly larger than the width of the baking dish. Thickness not more than 0.7 cm.
We place it in our baking dish, on parchment paper.

In the cleaned middle of the apple half, we put a spoonful of curd filling or a slice of tangerine.

We place the halves of apples with the filling on the dough. As you noticed, we do it stuffing down.

Then, from the rest of the dough, we form another circle, this time with the diameter of our shape. Let’s cover our cake. We pinch the edges.

Brush with beaten egg or sweetened milk if desired. And put in the oven for 30 minutes at a temperature of 180-190 degrees.

This is the pie we got.

I recommend letting it cool down a bit, then the juice from the filling will have time to soak into the dough and it will become simply divine.

Happy tea drinking and good health!

Calming for children: the best drugs, reviews

All parents love when the baby is happy and contented. His spontaneous smile warms the hearts of all family members. Then the mother is calm, and the night’s sleep is full, and the day is productive. But with tearfulness, capriciousness, irritability, increased excitability, a sedative for children may be needed. It is important to choose the right medicine so that it does not harm the baby, but helps solve the problem. An overview of ways to improve the condition of the child’s nervous system is presented in the article.

Irritability is in vogue today

Today, the child’s free expression of his emotions is the norm. Loving parents are in a hurry to please the baby so that he rejoices again. It is important to determine what the cause of concern is. The child manipulates you or is afraid of something. Only after analyzing the condition of the crumbs, one can wonder about finding a sedative for the child. Often the baby cries not because he has a mental illness. In most cases, the cause of this condition will be conflicts with adults, the stress experienced by the baby after visiting kindergarten, a quarrel with friends.

Prescription drugs for prevention

Sometimes pediatricians practice prescribing sedatives for children to improve the sleep of a small person, relieve him of fears and worries. Also, drugs will help speed up the development of the child.

It is important to remember that you cannot prescribe sedatives to a baby on your own, even if they are recommended by a friend who gave the sedative to her children. Due to the individuality of each organism, the reaction to the same drug can be very different.

Properly selected treatment will help an excited child calm down, protect him from tantrums and prevent their subsequent occurrence.

Let’s deal with the question of what sedatives can be given to children. Medical science has carefully studied how drugs can influence the cerebral cortex in order to control the processes of inhibition and excitation. Varieties of sedative methods, in addition to medicines, can be used:

  • herbal medicine – the appointment of decoctions and teas for which medicinal plants are used;
  • folk remedies;
  • ways of influence by pedagogical methods;
  • homeopathic methods from traditional healers.

Use of herbal treatments

For parents, the use of sedatives for children in the form of herbal remedies is more acceptable than the use of pharmacy chemicals. Herbal medicine allows you to achieve the results of calming the nervous system and the whole body without many contraindications. The use of herbal preparations is allowed from the age of one. It is important to strictly adhere to the dosage of funds and take them only after consulting with pediatricians. After all, allergic reactions are possible, which parents do not even suspect.

Among the most common herbal preparations that can be prescribed as a sedative for children under one year old are the following:

  • lemon balm;
  • peppermint;
  • Valerian officinalis.

Let’s take a closer look at the properties of the listed medicinal plants.

Taking medicinal valerian

Valerian has long been known to calm nerves and relieve spasm. Due to the unique combination of beneficial components, there is an expediency for the use of herbs to reduce nervous excitability and restless sleep. Moreover, valerian can be given to children even in infancy for internal use or by adding to a bath for bathing. Sometimes it is practiced to sew small bags with medicinal herbs inside, which must be placed near the baby’s crib.

The use of peppermint and lemon balm

Both the stem and leaves are useful in this plant, which makes it possible to successfully prepare a variety of drugs. Even a simple mint tincture has a pronounced sedative effect. Peppermint is rich in substances, the combination of which provides the effect of anti-stress, anti-depressant action and relieves nervous tension.

Lemon balm also has similar properties. Plants differ in taste. According to doctors, lemon balm is a more vitamin plant with a mild antihypoxic effect and anticonvulsant effect. The purpose of such decoctions is shown as a sedative for children and adults.

Prescription “Persen”

This pharmacy medicine contains a lot of active herbal ingredients, including the aforementioned valerian, mint and lemon balm. Pediatricians will recommend taking this natural herbal remedy if the baby has:

  • Emotional anxiety.
  • Excessive physical activity.
  • Insomnia.
  • Increased level of excitability.
  • Manifestations of irritability for no reason.

Persen is produced in the form of tablets or capsules. The tableted remedy is indicated by pediatricians for use no earlier than from 3 years. Capsules can be taken from the age of 12, they are very difficult to swallow for young children.

Medicinal tea drinking

Herbal teas and decoctions are widely used and especially popular. The range of pharmacy products is also offered in the form of sedatives for children, the reviews on the use of which are in most cases positive. You can buy granulated tea or bags, which are very convenient to brew, and you can not go wrong in terms of dosage. The composition of such herbal preparations are, in addition to the above-mentioned plants, herbs of fennel, motherwort, chamomile, linden.

Due to the safety of these drinks, pediatricians have been prescribing them almost from birth. The presence of a plant such as fennel in the composition of tea will also normalize bowel function.

Herbal teas for children are made without preservatives and coloring additives, in order to benefit only the baby.

Which tablets can be given to children

What kind of sedatives are given to children? We continue to consider drugs and move on to medical options for sedatives. If herbal preparations have little effect on the child, herbal baths do not help, the pediatrician may consider the appointment of pharmacy chemistry:

  • Citral syrup – the composition of the mixture is distinguished by the ability to improve the quality of memory. Can be used from infancy.
  • “Glycine” – the most popular due to the absence of side effects and increased mental activity. The tablet remedy relieves emotional stress, helps to improve the quality of sleep in children from the first months of life.

It is advisable to start with herbal preparations, and if they are not effective, then move on to medications under the strict supervision of a pediatrician.

Professional psychological help

Sometimes the cause of concern for a child who is already attending a children’s group may be misunderstandings with people around him. Also, stress causes a change of residence, scandals in the family. Then only medicines alone, no matter how strong they may be, will not be able to improve the child’s condition. It is important to show the child to a professional psychologist who can determine the cause of anxiety and suggest ways to solve the problem.

Sometimes the baby’s tears and screams are caused by the teething process that is common in children, when it is important to give painkillers to relieve the condition.

Advice from grandmothers

What sedatives can children take? Among the variety of drugs, you can try to use the proven methods of our grandmothers:

  • Using a special herbal pad if the child is not allergic to herbs.
  • Before going to bed, bathe the baby in a decoction of soothing herbs, and up to 1 year it is better not to combine plants, but to prepare a decoction from one type of herb.

Making sea salt baths is good for fighting rickets, eliminating postpartum injuries. After bathing in saline, be sure to rinse your baby with fresh water.

Caring for a favorable psychological climate

The baby should feel safe. To do this, parents should take care of maintaining a favorable psychological microclimate in the family. With a child, you can’t sort things out, quarrel. After all, he, like a sponge, absorbs all the emotions of his mother.

It is important to follow a daily routine, providing daily opportunities for the child to communicate with peers in the fresh air, play and move. Parents should behave kindly, make demands in a calm, confident voice. It is important that the child gets enough sleep in accordance with their age norms.

Summing up

Having considered the question of what kind of sedative can be given to a child per year and having collected recommendations for helping children of different ages, we can come to the conclusion that the advantage should be given to herbal preparations. The choice of a sedative should be performed by a pediatrician, taking into account the presence of allergies and contraindications.

It is important to identify the cause of the concern. It may consist of teething, conflicts with peers or family troubles. If a problem is identified early, it can be fixed quickly and effectively. And the baby will again please you with a unique smile.
