I just took my 4 year old for a normal well check. They wouldn’t cover the basic check up. I have paid close to $7,000 in insurance this year and my children only went to the doctors once this year for this well check. Guess I should have not even bothered with insurance and I would have an extra $6,000 in my pocket right now. Shame on you United Health

The prices of the premium are NOT affordable. Please look elsewhere. Do not use them. I was told one thing and on my portal was another price. Then I was not aware of an application fee. I was being charged that plus my premium. No way!!!!!

I pay $129 a month and haven’t gotten ID cards for a month and a half. Says viewable online but are not there. I try to email them but it says “No coverage change was request because your coverages were not found in the system. Please try again later.” I have record of them taking money out of my bank account and I have a policy number. Apparently that is not enough information to pick up my prescription from CVS or Walgreens.

I am incredibly disappointed in this insurance company. They do not value women’s health; they do not offer birth coverage nor do they honor basic women’s health services. I pay $240 a month for this insurance and my Nexplanon insert must be paid entirely out of pocket – a whopping $1300 for birth control that protects me for 5 years. I figured US Health would cover it because this procedure will save them money in the long run; 1 fee and I will be protected for an extended period of time. There is no appeals process or a way to get financial help. This is the only service I have used in the entire year. Do not use this insurance, look elsewhere.

I’ve been with this company for 8 months now and they have been amazing. My agent has been so helpful since the start. I went and got my physical done last month and they sent me a check for $12 because they paid more than it costed!! 10/10 recommend.

Run away! We purchased the family plan, which cost our family of five $1600/month. Despite what we were told by our very nice advisor, this insurance company was more than happy to take our money and pay for NOTHING – not even our normal annual physicals! I lost all confidence were we actually hospitalized they would be there for us. We dropped the coverage after 8 months because we were so frustrated. All of our doctors were calling us and telling us this insurance company rejected all claims. We ended up paying our doctors cash – despite being “covered” by US Health Group. We would call and no one would ever answer the phone or call us back. In the end we gave this company $10K and got 2 worthless insurance cards in return. If you have questions you can email me at [email protected]

This insurance is deceptive and misleading. I had to pay astronomical bills for preventative services said to be covered. If you are considering this insurance please prepare to pay more for healthcare on top of their monthly rate.

If I could put less stars I would. Started the process of getting health insurance months ago. I am HEALTHY. Take zero prescription meds. Normal BMI. I had palpitations 7 years ago. Had to send them ekgs, an ECHO, etc. from 7 years ago. All negative. Had phlebitis in my leg following a surgery. Completely resolved. Letters written my surgeon stating benign, short lived, no further treatment necessary. Then sent my labs and one lab value was slightly elevated. They have M O R O N (can’t putt letters together or it won’t post) underwriters sitting behind a desk with minimal medical knowledge making decisions based on their ignorance. Put me thru months of this to deny me. Don’t waste your time.

It’s hard to fathom how a company can legally operate like US Health group does – taking $10,000 per year in premiums for more than a decade and then ignoring/losing every bill we submit when we finally have a few claims 10 years later. We were fortunate to not have any health issues for the first decade we had this insurance, which is how we went so long without knowing how awful they are. However, for the three claims we’ve had in the decade we’ve had this insurance, they’ve done everything possible to avoid paying anything. We’ve had to fight every step to get reimbursed.

Most recently, our daughter needed surgery as a result of 2 different accidents. The surgeon required us to pay his bill up front because his billing department said US Health Group had too horrible of a reputation for doing anything possible to avoid paying claims. US Health Group ignored our claim for three months and kept asking us for the same information over and over again, so it became clear that they were deliberately trying to avoid paying anything. Worried that they would cause our daughter to not get the medical care she needed, my wife posted a negative review online, and US Health group had a representative (Karen Falgoust) reach out and facilitate all the bills for this claim for the next several months.

However, as soon as we had a second claim (which made only our 3rd claim in only a decade of them collecting premium for us), Karen stopped answering her emails and we’re now back to having US Health group ignore their obligations to us.

We pay our premium every month without fail and have for over a decade. How is it not illegal for US Health Group to not pay medical bills that are covered under our plan? Since our medical provider knew that US Health group would do anything to avoid paying, we had to pay the surgeon’s bill ourselves to get our daughter the care she needed, which has put a tremendous financial burden on our family. The $100,000+ plus we’ve paid them over the years would have paid these bills many times over. I cannot express how much regret I have in trusting that US Health group would operate with integrity and honesty when we actually needed the coverage we’ve been paying for for so long.

Katrina Schlothauer is AWESOME!

Katrina Schlothauer was referred to me by my sister and has been amazing to work with! Although, we live in different states (I’m in Indiana), she is very knowledgeable about all the products USHealth offers and worked to tailor a policy to my specific needs. Any time I have had a question, she is very quick to respond and get me an answer. She truly goes above and beyond in customer service! If you’re looking for an agent who is knowledgable and cares about their clients, Katrina is your girl! The hardest part of working with Katrina is pronouncing her last name! LOL!

BEWARE

BEWARE! I had to go to ER. Insurance company paid $450 of the $38,000 thank goodness the hospital took off $32,000. But left me with a bill for $5,252. + $1,788 to ER Dr. 1 week my husband landed in hospital with leaking appendix, was in hospital for 6 days. They have not paid, said “we are not covered for hospitalization. ” Our current bill for that $98,000. Not including his 4 Dr. Caring for him. Still needs to have surgery and when I called,
“sorry that’s not covered, buy more insurance, pay $6000 deductible and we still won’t pay it all. What the hell kind of scam company is this?!?

I would highly recommend USHealth Group

When I signed up with USHealth Group about 2 years ago, I was overwhelmed at first, as changing insurance companies can be daunting. Immediately, I realized how caring and helpful everyone is that works for USHealth, from the customer service reps to the field agents. I was guided through every aspect of the new insurance, step by step. Every time I reached out for assistance with a claim or seeing if something was covered, I always got the answers I needed, right away. My field agent even did a 3-way call with my dental office to remedy a problem! I would highly recommend this company, just for the fact that they truly care about you and are willing to help any way they can!

Absolute worst insurance

Absolute worst insurance. They told us that we needed to add surgery benefits for a specific surgery and surgery center then refused to cover any of the surgical bills once added. So basically paid extra for several months unnecessarily, waiting on their response for them to then refuse service and increase our contracted rate with our provider. Avoid this company like the plague and find coverage literally anywhere else.

Total misrepresentation of the plan

Total misrepresentation of the plan. Paying almost $500 per month for what we were told was a plan that turns out to be all lies. We were told our primary, OB & Derm had neve heard of the plan and had on idea how to charge us. We have paid almost all the bills. most recent was 2 sonagrams. Almost $300 and they paid $50. Talked to their customer service and they said that is their limit per day. Total lie on what they told us during the purchase.

I purchased this policy specifically to cover a surgery

I purchased this policy specifically to cover cataract surgery. I told the agent this repeatedly (Kevin Cross). I have paid over $350 dollars a month for the past year. After waiting a year so it wouldn’t be considered a pre-existing condition, I went to the opthalmologist to schedule the surgery. First, they denied paying for over half of the office visit. Then, I was informed that the policy I purchased does not cover surgery. How could someone sell a policy that doesn’t cover the one item that the individual was needing covered????
Total joke, yet I still wanted to try to work it out since I need the surgery to do my job effectively. So I called to increase my coverage and pay even more money….but they never answered the phone and never called back!!
Total waste of time and money!!!

Kat is awesome!

Katrina Schlothauer is awesome!! I was referred to Kat from a friend and I’m so happy they shared her information with me! She is extremely knowledgeable about the industry and guided me toward the best policy! It’s a much better plan than what I previously had and at a lower cost! In addition to her insurance knowledge, her customer service is stellar! Ultra responsive and she’s followed up with me several times to ensure I’m happy. I’m so thankful that I was referred to Katrina! She’s fantastic!!

Katrina Schlothauer is incredibly…

Katrina Schlothauer is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Though this plan did not cover maternity when I unexpectedly found myself expecting she was so helpful in getting me to the right places that covered more costs upfront for me. She truly goes above and beyond and is always a call or text away. Aside from that I didn’t use this insurance a ton besides an urgent care visit here or there but I can safely say she was very helpful!

Wish I could give zero or negative…

Wish I could give zero or negative stars. This “insurance” is a complete scam and will not cover anything when you need to use it, so you’d end up paying for all of your medical bills anyways, despite having to pay them hundreds in premiums every month. DO NOT choose them if you value your physical medicine benefits, including Chiropractic care.

Saddened by false information.

Saddened by false information.

My agent before I signed up I let her know since I am in Michigan I require a letter to my Auto insurance (no issue with this from BCBS or Atena) and she said she would send it, she said she did send it. She has not and now has been avoiding me. I reached out today and she told me not to bother her. I tried to switch my agent and they will not allow that, I called her supervisor with no return call. I am paying double for Auto because I cannot get a personalized letter stating I am covered in an event of an accident. Dental, I was told to wait 6 months for extrications, needed one, waited 6 months, it was not covered. When my policy is up, I will not be going back. I am a medical professional and this agent and company disgusts me.

Extremely poor provider

Extremely poor provider. I purchased a policy for my daughter in 2019. The selling agent assured me coverages I wanted for her (reproductive, pregnancy, mental health, etc. ) were covered. I never saw a policy as they worked directly with my daughter; I just pay the bill through bank draft.

3 years later, she is expecting and guess what…NOT COVERED! Seems like a bait and switch to me. We’ve been trying to get in touch with her “agent” to see what our options are. He won’t answer the phone, or return messages.

USHEALTH agents will lie

When you apply with USHEALTH the agent will sell you a dream. My agent is a total liar and didn’t update my policy. So I have extra bills from a mistake she will not own up to. In my opinion USHEALTH needs recorded conversations on ALL phone conversations to insure the agent is being honest. Once the agent gets paid they don’t care. I have been dealing with customer service and consumer affairs. They are quick to take the agent side like humans dont lie or make mistakes. I even said in good faith can we make this right.

Bait and Switch by Agent

I believe my agent did a bait and switch. He offered me a policy at a certain price but I’m being billed over $100 more per month. I called him on it and everything he replied with didn’t make any sense. I’m worried he had me leave my prior provider for a total scam. The Company called to follow up on this review. They said they would investigate and get back to me within 5 days. That was two weeks ago and no one has followed up!

The absolute worst insurance company…

The absolute worst insurance company ever. I’ve been going back and forth with them and my hospital for 2 years over a $21,000 surgery of which my insurance covered $150 for the Covid test only AFTER the hospital reached out to them to dispute it. 90% of my other medical bills have had zero coverage. I pay nearly $300 a month for pretty much nothing and am to the point where I’m nervous everytime I have to make a doctor appointment because I know I’ll be billed for nearly all of it. The representative who initially signed me up didn’t warn me about any of this and has been completely unhelpful or unresponsive anytime I’ve reached out. I’ve had to take entire days off of work just to sit on hold with their helpline and billing offices. The stress I’ve endured dealing with this company has been never ending and I will be switching as soon as possible and never looking back, I’m also talking to a lawyer because none of this seems right.

Great

So far its been great! (located in Pennsylvania) Katrina Schlothauer is who I work with for any medical questions and claims. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. So far I have had 4 or 5 chiropractor visits. All are $45 per visit and one was $65. I have been fully reimbursed for every session. I still have one more I can claim. I haven’t had to use medical yet, but I have been directed on places to go for lower costs. So far all is well. Premium pricing is kinda high, but most places are way more expensive so it’s affordable for us. Better than no insurance.

Who is USHEALTH Advisors?

USHEALTH Advisors is a wholly-owned national sales and distribution subsidiary of USHEALTH Group, which is one of the largest employers of health insurance agents in the United States.

The company was established in January 2002. It is based in Grapevine, Texas, and is licensed in 35 states.

What does USHEALTH Advisors sell?

USHEALTH Advisors sells individual health coverage plans and a number of related supplementary products underwritten by The Freedom Life Insurance Company of America and National Foundation Life Insurance Company, both of which are wholly-owned subsidiaries of USHEALTH Group.

USHA specializes in marketing innovative and affordable health coverage plans. Instead of having to pay the high premiums typically associated with comprehensive health coverage, their customers can choose a plan that allows them to pay only for the coverage they need while they are healthy. They can add more coverage later on if they need to cover the increased medical costs related to a serious accident or illness, for example.

Who does USHEALTH Advisors sell to?

The company is focused on providing healthcare solutions to individuals and families, but also self-employed and small business owners. The USHA agents specialize in tailoring their products for this largely underserved market.

How do USHEALTH Advisors leads work?

USHEALTH Advisors owns a growing database of more than 4 million insurance leads for their insurance agents. The company funds the production of targeted, qualified leads from proven marketing channels.

For example, they work closely with local sales management to identify the most effective lead sources. USHEALTH Advisors continuously tests new insurance lead generation techniques for their agents.

In addition to being given company-generated leads, USHA agents have access to numerous tools and resources to help them effectively market their products.

For example, these include professionally designed print ads and direct mail pieces, templates to use in email campaigns, their own agent website, and other resources to help them get the most from their marketing efforts.

The company also manages an Online Dialer software that calls leads. Until they start producing, agents are asked to pay $75 a month for the Online Dialer, after which USHA takes over the payment.

How does USHEALTH Advisors training work?

USHEALTH Advisors offers comprehensive training opportunities for their insurance agents.

For example, all USHA agents are required to complete specific product training and meet certification standards before they can become authorized to represent and sell their products.

The company provides everything from national online webinars and web-based product certification to local insurance sales training in the field, so that the agents can gain all the necessary knowledge and skills for selling insurance.

The USHA training is done either online where agents can participate from their home office, in the classroom, or in the field where the sales professionals teach techniques that led them to success including cross-selling, referral networking, and benefit package sales.

In addition, agents regularly receive updates from the USHEALTH Advisors Home Office via emails and newsletters, as well as through the company’s informational meetings and webinars.

Is USHEALTH Advisors an MLM Or Scam?

USHEALTH Advisors is not a pyramid scheme multi-level marketing (insurance MLM) business opportunity.

In other words, it doesn’t have multiple layers of agents, mentors, and trainers and is not suitable for agents who are primarily looking to recruit.

Also, USHEALTH Advisors is not a scam. This is a legitimate company with an A+ BBB rating. With a mission of Helping Other People Everyday (HOPE), the company focuses on a highly positive experience for customers, agents, employees, and shareholders.

USHEALTH Advisors is the winner of numerous awards including the 2019  Insurance Company of the Year and Gold Stevie award.

How To Quit USHEALTH Advisors

There are many reasons you may want to quit USHEALTH Advisors, for example, you ran out of money to invest in leads, you ran out of prospects to sell to, or you simply found that the business of selling insurance wasn’t a good fit for you.

The good news is, quitting USHEALTH Advisors is easy.

Here’s how to do it.

First, start by doing your due diligence and find another insurance agency to work for. We recommend you review our Free Agent Resource Guide here for tips on finding a quality insurance agency to join.

Once you find a new agency or carrier to join, you can go ahead and switch your affiliations.

You should keep in mind that as an insurance agent, you are licensed by the state and not by the company. No insurance agency can prevent you from stopping your affiliation with it and doing business with another organization.

You may need to cancel the affiliation with USHEALTH Advisors. The termination usually needs to be filed within a 30 day window, however canceling affiliation is not always mandatory.

To become properly appointed with the new insurance carrier or agency, you simply complete contracting with the new insurance carrier.

Typically, the window for companies to process affiliations is very short, with most companies approving insurance agent carrier appointments within 1 to 2 weeks on average.

Bottom line, quitting USHEALTH Advisors is no big deal. Simply find another organization that’s better suited to your insurance sales career goals, submit contracting through the new organization, and within the next few weeks, you’re good to go and can stop doing business with USHEALTH Advisors.

Freedom Equity Group focuses on selling life insurance and annuities. Its main product is indexed universal life insurance, a form of permanent coverage that provides a cash value in addition to life insurance.

My Thoughts

Here are my thoughts as an experienced insurance agent and agency owner on becoming an agent with US Health Advisors.

Vesting

My advice to all insurance agents joining any agency is to ensure you own your book of business. “Vesting” is the industry term that indicates who owns future income streams of said clients.

Wonder why that’s a big deal? For example, what if you leave US Health Advisors for another insurance sales opportunity?

With many insurance sales opportunities (like in my agency), when an agent moves on, he continues getting paid the commission from those past sales.

However, while I’m not sure whether or not this is the case with USHEALTH Advisors, many insurance agencies do NOT let you take those commissions.

So, check the contract and ask your recruiter about vesting and ownership before you sign up.

Selling Multiple Companies

One important piece of advice to any new agent is to consider becoming an independent agent versus a captive agent.

Wonder what that means?

For example, a captive agent usually only sells one type of product, and an independent agent sells a variety of insurance products.

Independent insurance agents more easily custom-tailor their insurance products to the client, as they are not forced to sell one product like captive agents do. This means independent agents usually have better products with better pricing relative to captive agents.

When selling for USHealth Advisors, most likely you’ll have to agree not to sell for any other health insurance carrier, which means you’ll be captive and have a restriction on your policy options.

And while that isn’t the end of the world, you will experience the product restrictions above, which could have direct consequences on your ability to close more health insurance policies.

Summary

So there’s my thoughts on how a career with USHealth Advisors works for agents considering jumping in.

I hope you enjoyed this article and understand a little more about how an insurance sales career with US Health Advisors works.
