Delta employment benefits: The Delta Airlines Perks & Benefits That Attract Employees

The Delta Airlines Perks & Benefits That Attract Employees

Delta Airlines is an award-winning company with an excellent reputation in the air passenger transportation sector. Some of the stand-out Delta Airlines employee perks are its effective leadership and how the company treats its employees.

In fact, Delta CEO, Ed Bastian, won the Best Executive Leadership Award at the 2021 Airline Strategy Awards. The award recognizes outstanding leadership and planning through the Covid-19 pandemic.

It’s often said that employees leave managers, not jobs. So, strong leadership through challenging periods is a major benefit of working for Delta. It can make employees’ work lives much more secure.

However, a secure job often isn’t enough to retain talented employees on the lookout for better opportunities. So, let’s take a look at the Delta Airlines employee perks and benefits that keep their staff happy.

Eight Delta Airlines Employee Perks and Benefits

1.

Profit-Sharing

Employees sometimes say they don’t have time to use the benefits they’re offered. So it’s best to show them the money first. If you decide to provide a profit portion to staff, make sure they understand how the system works. Otherwise, they might feel misled.

Delta Airlines lets its Red Coats (that’s their cool title for employees) in on profit-share from their first day with the company. This helps attract new talent all the time.

Before the pandemic, Delta shared at least $1 billion in profit with employees annually, which was close to one fifth of its income. In 2020, this hit a staggering $1.6 billion paid out to its 90,000 employees.

Sadly, after the pandemic hit, the airline suffered a $12.4 billion loss, and profit-sharing was put on hold. But the airline is weathering the storm much better than many other carriers worldwide. So, the future looks promising for it to recover and resume profit-sharing at some point.

2.

Attractive Retirement Savings Plan

Today, fewer Americans decide to have children than compared to the past. As such, employees are motivated to ensure that they can care for themselves after retirement.

Delta offers its employees a 401(k) retirement plan to ease their financial situation when they can no longer work. This plan includes 401(k) savings with tax benefits. When an employee joins the company, Delta automatically places them on the plan, diverting a percentage of their paycheck to a retirement investment.

Employees can also choose how much they want to put away for retirement and the type of retirement plan they prefer. This helps them feel more in control of their future.

The employer adds an automatic contribution of 3% of the employee’s salary. They also provide a 100% match for the first 6% contributed by the employee.

3. Training and Professional Development

Delta is highly rated for training courses and mentor programs to assist both new and long-time staff. Over the years, they have continued to improve the quality of the training provided significantly.

Pilots can attend training at Delta Air Lines Aircrew Training Center in Georgia. There are about nine other training facilities around the US. Trainee flight attendants take an 8-week course and get paid while they are learning.

Customer service agents and supervisors attend workshops to help them learn how to deal with difficult, unexpected circumstances. An ongoing interactive training series is also held for all employees on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

They also send managers on a development program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Plus, their pilots can attend a special career program at Western Michigan University, among other programs, especially for Delta staff.

4. Competitive Life Insurance

Delta Airlines’ perks include basic and optional life cover for full-time employees and dependents. This includes accidental death and injury insurance.

The insurance pays out a lump sum to beneficiaries to a maximum of $50,000 on the basic plan. The maximum is $500,000 if employees take the optional cover. The final amount paid out depends on the individual case.

5. Comprehensive Medical Insurance, Including Dental and Optometry

Delta’s benefits include various healthcare insurance options for employees to choose from. The options depend on where they live.

The airline lets employees decide between different dental coverage options. This gives them more power of choice to meet their needs.

The company partnered with a popular service provider to help meet their staff’s eye-care needs. Dental and vision cover lifts another weight off employees’ shoulders and reduces what they have to pay out of pocket when they need essential healthcare.

6. Paid Leave Benefits

The longer an employee stays with Delta, the more leave they are entitled to. This includes vacation leave and time-off of up to 5 weeks a year. Sick leave comes standard.

On top of that, the airline adds bereavement, family responsibility, maternity, and paternity leave. Expecting and new moms can take six weeks paid leave plus 16 weeks unpaid leave, which is four weeks more than average.

Another employee benefit is military leave. This applies whether employees are on active or inactive duty in the US forces and is a key consideration for prospective employees in the airline industry. These individuals often have a military background, such as security guards and pilots.

Overall, it’s a fine example of how companies can appeal to potential employees’ career and personal goals.

7. Free and Discounted Flights

Delta Airlines employee perks include occasional free and discounted tickets. Family members can also get discounted tickets.

Travel benefits encourage employees to take vacations away from home so that they return to work feeling more refreshed and motivated.

Flight discounts are also available for Delta’s Ready Reserves. The reserves are part-time and temporary employees on customer service and airport duty, who help the company keep up with periods of erratic demand.

8. Gym Membership

The Delta workforce has been rated as one the most healthy group of employees in recent years. This is partly owing to free and subsidized memberships at Delta Air Lines Corporate Fitness Centers.

Conclusion

Delta Air Lines really goes the extra mile for employees. They are now ranked number 20 on the Forbes World’s Best Employers list. They don’t just offer the usual sick leave and occasional bonus.

The company is also ranked among the 50 most community-minded companies in America today. Its employee perks and benefits are sure to have contributed to this positive company image.

Employment of the disabled. Benefits when hiring a disabled person / News / Municipal formation “Dzerzhinsky City District, Moscow Region”

The issues of providing jobs for people with disabilities are especially relevant today. Despite the automation of work and the existence of numerous professions and jobs in which disabled people could work, enterprises and companies are reluctant to employ people with disabilities. This is largely due to the availability of labor benefits for people with disabilities, and the registration of a disabled person for work is considered problematic.

Meanwhile, the employment of disabled people according to the legislation of the Russian Federation is not a right, but an obligation of employers. According to labor legislation, it is impossible to refuse this to an employee due to his disability . The only possible grounds for refusal can only be an insufficient level of professional knowledge or their absence.

Thus, if a disabled applicant has the necessary education and professional competencies that meet the requirements of a manager in a vacant position, then the enterprise is obliged to hire a citizen with disabilities.

At the same time, today each employer is obliged to calculate the quota for hiring disabled people .

In addition, when a disabled person is refused employment, the employer is obliged to substantiate the reasons and state them in writing , and the disabled applicant, in turn, is given the right to demand a written refusal from the employer .

A written refusal gives the disabled person the right to restore and defend their rights in court. So, if the court recognizes the refusal to hire unreasonable, then the employer will be obliged to provide the disabled person with a workplace, according to the existing quota . The latter determines the provision on the quota of jobs for the disabled in the organization.

Modern Russian legislation does not provide for any restrictions, as well as special advantages in the employment of citizens with disabilities.

In general, employment for people with disabilities of groups 1, 2 and 3 in Russia is carried out on the general basis provided for by the labor law. General provisions are enshrined in Art. 64 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

A number of requirements, by virtue of which the employer cannot restrict the rights of disabled persons in employment, are provided for by the law on social protection . Also among the additional legal acts can be attributed to the law on quotas for jobs for the disabled.

The requirements stipulated by these laws are as follows:

the executive bodies must set the minimum number of jobs to be provided by companies operating in the region within the established quotas;

State authorities determine the percentage ratio of the number of employees with disabilities relative to the number of employees on the payroll, the established quota for hiring people with disabilities is, as a rule, from 2 to 4%.

exempt from the need to establish a quota for disabled workers are public organizations of disabled people, as well as companies in the authorized capital of which there are shares of citizens with disabilities.

At the same time, benefits are also provided for enterprises employing disabled people.

The main functions of employment and professional retraining of people with disabilities are entrusted by the state to Employment centers . In general, the employment of disabled people through the employment center is carried out on a general basis, as well as retraining.

When visiting the territorial office of the Employment Center, a citizen with disabilities must provide a standard set of documents:

the main document of a citizen is a passport;

documents confirming education and course and professional training and additional education;

information about work experience or work book;

insurance and tax certificates;

medical documents or other document confirming disability.

During the reception, the question of how to enter the labor exchange for a disabled person of the 2nd or 3rd group is decided. It is noteworthy that disabled people of the 3rd group receive this right on a general basis.

Labor relations with citizens with disabilities, despite the fact that they are based on the general principles adopted for all other citizens, have a number of features. In particular, the features of an employment contract with a disabled person of the 3rd group are as follows:

exclude the possibility of involving a disabled person to work in especially dangerous and harmful conditions;

do not contain clauses about traveling nature of work;

reduction of working hours, provision of wages for disabled persons with reduced working hours and the procedure for its calculation;

impossibility of being called to work on holidays and weekends;

an indication of how many sick days per year a disabled person is paid;

the moment of a standard vacation is not 28, but 30 calendar days, as well as the provision of additional vacations.

For the convenience of employers, a standard sample of an employment contract with a disabled person of the 2nd group has been developed. Without fail, the contract must contain clauses that reflect the nature of the work, a set of functional duties that meet what the medical and social examination allows, the remuneration of the disabled of group 2 must additionally be reflected, as well as the procedure for its calculation and periods of payment.

Additionally, sick leave payment for disabled people of groups 1, 2 and 3, calculation features and payment procedure are taken into account.

Employment of a disabled person for an employer is associated not only with great responsibility, but also with a number of financial costs associated with the organization of special working conditions and attestation of workplaces. Because of this, the law provides for benefits to employers when hiring a disabled person, consisting primarily in tax breaks, in particular in reducing the tax base .

In order to receive benefits, the employer must notify the employment center of the employment of disabled people and a certificate of quota fulfillment. A similar document is submitted to the tax service.

Visually impaired are the most difficult category of citizens with disabilities to find employment. Thus, in some cases, the employment of the visually impaired involves retraining and additional training. In addition, there are not so many enterprises that are ready and able to provide jobs. Today, work for the visually impaired is organized on by the All-Russian Society of the Blind and is in the field of assembly and packaging operations. Call centers have become a new direction for the visually impaired.

In general, at the present stage of development of the labor market, citizens with disabilities may well find themselves not just a suitable, but a fairly well-paid job. It should be noted that many enterprises provide options for home and remote work related to the Internet and information processing.

Miners went on strike in the Urals

BIROBIJAN, JUNE 10 I, NABAT. – In the Urals, 80 miners refused to go to the surface after reports of a massive reduction, writes Sovetskaya Rossiya.

The Mariinsky mine in the Sverdlovsk village of Malysheva is the only emerald deposit in Russia. On June 8, after the end of the shift, 80 miners refused to rise to the surface, declaring their disagreement with the upcoming large-scale reductions.

Employees of the mine said that a few days ago, the management held a meeting with them, informing them about the plans for the phased conservation of the mine and staff cuts.

“In the near future they want to lay off about 180 people, that is, the entire underground group. They explained to us that it is unprofitable to support us, the enterprise is unprofitable. Families of workers now walk in the unknown. People got mortgages and loans,” one of the miners is quoted by journalists.

The press service of the “Mariinsky mine” urged not to believe the rumors about layoffs. But at the same time, they did not deny plans to close the mine and switch to open-pit mining of emeralds, since the costs of maintaining an existing mine cover the income from the extraction of raw materials.

“Several activists have roused the team, provoked a strike, and refuse to leave the mine,” the press service notes. – Talking about large-scale cuts is a provocation that is needed by those who do not want any changes and put their personal life above the interests of the state. Production processes at a modern enterprise cannot be built according to the standards of the last century, so changes at the mine are inevitable. Those who disagree still have the option to accept it or quit voluntarily. Any sabotage in the workplace will be severely suppressed.”

Dmitry Antonov, head of the department for labor and employment of the population of the Sverdlovsk region, urgently left for the mine. He stated that the issue of employment of miners is under special control.

This is not the first strike at the Mariinsky mine. In September 2021, workers refused to rise to the surface, demanding the payment of the promised bonus and the reinstatement of a fired comrade.

According to the latest information, the miners of the “Mariinsky mine” have risen to the surface after two days of underground strike. This was reported by an E1.RU correspondent from the scene.

“We managed to reach an agreement with Rostec: the company will try to keep the old method of mining ore underground, at the same time it will begin to develop an open pit method and start building a flotation factory,” reports the Telegram channel “Not for the record”.

Education program

LEARNING CONDITIONS

WORKING HOURS

Kindergarten – elementary school “Rostok” is designed for children from 7:30 in the morning to 19:30 p.m., the most comfortable conditions are created here so that every child feels at home.

For 12 hours, both kids and schoolchildren are under the supervision of educators and teachers. In the kindergarten, the day starts with breakfast, then the teachers work with the children:

  • modeling;
  • drawing;
  • music;
  • physical education;
  • development of speech or logic.

In elementary school, lessons are held in the first half of the day, and in the second, students are engaged in sections and circles of additional education (physical culture and sports, artistic and aesthetic, cultural and scientific and technical orientation), take part in project activities, do homework, can rest or take a walk.

EDUCATION SYSTEM

The system of education in the kindergarten – elementary school “Rostok” is built in such a way that children have the opportunity to prepare for the transition to the next stages of education. Through active participation in project, competitive and creative work, kindergarten students and primary school students develop the ability to:

  • self-improvement and self-education;
  • learn to solve logical problems for the formation of thinking and consciousness;
  • learn initial competencies in the intellectual, informational and other fields.

COMPREHENSIVE CLASSES IN ROBOTICS

In the elementary school of PEI VO TAU, as part of the development of a diversified modern student, four stages of education of children in the direction of robotics have been implemented. This is due to the need to develop algorithmic thinking and a creative non-standard approach to solving problems among students and training future technical specialists. Training takes place according to the STEAM methods (science – science, technology – technology, engineering – engineering, arts and math – art and mathematics) Lego Education and individual methods developed by the teachers of the Academy. The first two stages, for students in grades 1 and 2, are implemented on the basis of Lego WeDo 2.0 constructors. The subsequent education is implemented on the basis of Lego Boost constructors and adapted for programming on Scrath. During each lesson, children will explore the world around them, constructing interactive programmable models from functional assembly elements.

UNIQUE PROGRAMMING LEARNING SYSTEM

CODEWARDS is an educational program specially developed by Redmadrobot for elementary school students (grades 1-4). Redmadrobot is professionally engaged in the design, development of mobile applications for the leaders of the Russian market.

The “CODEWARDS” training system is built on the principle “from simple to complex”. That is, starting from the study of a simple theory and passing easy tasks, the child can move on to solving complex problems, studying more interesting material.

In the process of learning, children receive not only basic programming skills, but also learn to solve logical problems, work in groups and master new skills.

9 0893 DEVELOPED INFRASTRUCTURE

The territory of the kindergarten – elementary school is quite spacious and picturesque. “Rostok” is visited by preschoolers (children aged 2.5 to 6.5 years) and schoolchildren from grades 1 to 4. The building consists of several buildings. Preschool groups are located on the 2nd floor of the building, and classrooms and infrastructure premises (swimming pool, library, music and sports halls, administrative and utility rooms) – on the 1st floor.

All classrooms are equipped with interactive equipment (interactive whiteboards, projection equipment). General physical training classes are held both indoors (gym, swimming pool) and in the surrounding areas. Physical development and health improvement are one of the priorities of our activity.

COMPLETE FOOD

Both the kindergarten and elementary school provide five full meals a day. The menu is compiled for a week based on the wishes of the children and medical recommendations. If the child has any food restrictions, then this is taken into account, for example, gluten-free, casein-free, protein-free and other diets.

All dishes are nutritious and rich in vitamins so that children during their stay in the walls of Rostok are active and perform all the tasks that educators or teachers give them.

SECURITY SYSTEM

The Academy has special requirements for the safety of its students. Rostok is located in a fenced area and is constantly guarded by employees from the own security service of the Togliatti Academy of Management. Employees of the service control the order and access control, and the complex is equipped with video security system . We have also developed a program to prevent child road traffic injuries.

INDIVIDUAL APPROACH

All activities in kindergarten (except music and physical education) are held in subgroups of 7 to 10 people. Classes are limited to 20 students. This approach to learning helps the kindergarten – elementary school “Rostok” to achieve the following goals: the formation of students’ abilities for self-development, logical thinking, communication and the initial level of key competencies.

diagnostics are carried out twice a year – specialists look at the dynamics of development of each ward, and then plan their further individual development trajectory with their parents.

MEDICAL SERVICE

Medical care is provided in the kindergarten – elementary school. Control over the health of preschoolers and students is carried out by qualified nurses. Also, the medical staff not only monitors the health of children, but also consults for parents, draws up a children’s menu and organizes children’s health-improving physical gymnastics.

CONTINUITY

One of the principles of education in kindergarten – elementary school “Rostok” is continuity in education. It is carried out as follows: from the preparatory group of the kindergarten, the child goes to the 1st grade of the elementary school. The children’s team remains at this stage practically unchanged. The place of education and development of the child does not change, since both the kindergarten and the primary school are located in the same building.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

On the basis of the kindergarten-elementary school “Rostok” additional programs are being implemented to prepare for school.

Attendance at extracurricular programs can help your child prepare for school, gain basic reading skills, and develop logic and fine motor skills.

School Readiness Services in Gainesville, FL

Contract with ELCAC

The Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County (ELCAC) would like to welcome all prospective childcare providers to this community of hardworking people dedicated to early childhood education. ELCAC serves as a resource for families and providers regarding the School Readiness (SR) and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Programs.

The SR Program offers financial assistance to low-income families for childcare services based on individual need. It prepares children for school through academic activities while also supporting free-play and social-emotional development.

If you are interested in offering the SR program at your childcare business, you must first request and receive a license or license exemption letter from the Department of Child and Families (DCF): https://www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/child-care/child-care-licensure.shtml. Once you’re registered through DCF, you may start the contracting process with ELCAC.

The contracting process is now entirely online through the statewide Provider Portal. This website was deployed by the Division of Early Learning (DEL) in 2017 to streamline the exchange and verification of required forms and supporting documents. It has gone through many data fixes and feature releases throughout its first few years. We appreciate your patience and understanding as it continues to be developed. Furthermore, please be aware that you are welcome to use the shared resources (internet, computers, scanners, printers, etc.) in our main lobby during normal business hours.

To start the contracting process with ELCAC, create an account in the Provider Portal by clicking the blue “here” on the righthand side of the log-in page: https://providerservices.floridaearlylearning.com/Account/Login. The account must be created by an individual authorized as a contract representative for your childcare business such as the owner or director. After you have successfully registered for an account, email the ELCAC Provider Contracts Coordinator, Brandi Thomas ([email protected]), to request activation. Please keep in mind that each step in the contracting process requires approval before the next step is available so don’t be discouraged if you can’t move forward right away.

Once your account is activated by ELCAC, Brandi Thomas ([email protected]) will email you a locally created instructional packet to help you create a profile in the Provider Portal. Profiles contain both Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) and contract information. The CCR&R data will be shared with the governor’s office, legislature, state officials, agencies, and families seeking childcare. It’s a wonderful opportunity to market your program to a wide range of families at no cost! The contract data will be auto-populated into fixed fields of the SR Contract later in the contracting process. For these reasons, it is imperative that your profile is entirely accurate.

All status changes within the Provider Portal trigger an automatic email notification from [email protected]. Profiles are often rejected multiple times before approval due to inconsistent or missing information. If your profile is rejected, you will find a list of corrections needed written by ELCAC in the “Additional Comments” section at the bottom of the email from [email protected]. It is recommended that you check your email inbox daily as email is ELCAC’s main form of communication.

After your profile is changed to an “Active” status by ELCAC, Brandi Thomas will email you another locally created instructional packet to help you complete an SR Contract. The SR Contract will consist of auto-populated business information, FL Rule/Statute dictating the responsibilities of each party, and some additional voluntary options. The contracting process is complete when your SR Contract is set to a “Certified” status by ELCAC. Then, you will be considered an approved SR provider for Alachua County!

If you have questions regarding SR provider eligibility, general information, or the contracting process, please email Brandi Thomas ([email protected]). You can also browse DEL’s website for more details about the SR Program: http://www.floridaearlylearning.com/school-readiness/school-readiness-providers.

Thank you for your interest and efforts towards serving the children of Alachua County!

Furthermore, please be aware that you are welcome to use the shared resources (internet, computers, scanners, printers, etc. ) in our main lobby during normal business hours.

Kindergarten. difficult situation – 73 answers

I really need advice. I just don’t know what to do…

From September 1, my twins went to kindergarten. Group 3-4 years old, in the group mainly 3.5 – 4 years old. Mine just turned 3 at the end of September. The sociable daughter easily fit into the team (some children are there from the nursery, that is, they go to the garden for 2 years), she immediately liked it there, eats, plays, sleeps, in the classroom – everything is fine. The son – he has a ZRR, plus his character is completely different, closed, but he is not afraid of people, without me or my husband – he cries. We left them for half a day throughout September and half of October. At first he always cried, but every day less and less. Now she can cry a little when her husband leaves, but is immediately distracted and does not cry anymore. The last days (not in a row, with a break for the weekend) left them to sleep. The first day Andrew cried.

Teacher Elena: It was very difficult to put him down, with motion sickness, etc. Then there was another teacher (Florida). Before that, she called me in the evening after work and told me to leave Andrey with her, that he didn’t cry with her. He slept normally with her. And on the 3rd day, the teacher Elena was again – she called me in the afternoon, said that he did not sleep, did not give other children, etc. In the evening I came to pick them up. Her words – he slept (fell asleep well), then after 40 minutes he woke up and began to cry awake, then play and interfere with others. She says, I need to do methodical exercises, but I can’t! Andrew does not. Five minutes later, she says something else: oh, I actually got sick, I wanted to lie down and rest, and then Andrei woke up!

Today they called again and asked me to come pick it up. On the phone they said it bothers everyone, no one sleeps. Came …. in the group silence! Andrey was taken out. While he was dressing me, the teacher Elena said: he interferes with everyone, his parents are already complaining, he does not sleep at your house (although he actually sleeps exactly until 15:30, sometimes I even wake him up), runs away from the site when he walks, does not draw in class – gets up, does not participate in music classes and physical education. All this is true. The meaning of her complaints is that I should not take my son, well, or transfer the two of them to a nursery, such as small ones for her group. But firstly, the kindergarten staff assigned us to this group, and now when the children are just used to being translated? Moreover, there is a girl younger than us in the group. The second teacher does not complain about Andrey. When I asked Elena, which of the parents complained about us, because, well, it can’t be, because we just started to stay! She called Florida and said: Well, tell me, I’m not lying, because someone complained! Florida, modestly like this: well, like, Ksyusha’s dad said: why should my daughter babysit the little ones!

I didn’t finish speaking with the caregivers and ran away to my youngest son.

I am very upset by this conversation. Yes, I agree that Andrei is not so easy to handle. But he doesn’t do anything supernatural to complain about him like that, and even more so to talk about a transfer or not to go. He is not aggressive, very kind. Many children do not sleep at lunchtime, at least 2 of our group also sometimes cannot sleep, and I know this from their mothers. I just don’t talk to others – I don’t know. Do all children adapt without problems?

Why do I want him to stay there: because this is what the psychologist and our teacher advise us (we study at home). Because he began to speak! Words began to appear in him, although before that he had only mumbled. After they could not put him down, he says: bye-bye :)))) and a few more words appeared. He plays with children there. Plus all the mugs and pool in the garden after sleep.

In general, I need advice and your opinion. How to be … I’m wrong and I do not need to insist on a full adaptation?

For some reason it seems to me that the tutor Elena just wants to merge us. ..

Note on Deficiencies

Deficiencies are listed in broad categories and are available online for 36 months. We encourage you to contact your region office for an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or for additional information about this facility’s compliance. Resolved “On Site” means that a violation was resolved during the Licensing Specialist’s inspection.

Severity Levels

High:

These are the most serious violations of child care regulations and could pose a risk to the health and safety of children. If you would like an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or would like additional information about this facility’s compliance, please contact your regional office.

Medium:

These are significant violations of child care regulations and could negatively impact the health and safety of children. If you would like an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or would like additional information about this facility’s compliance, please contact your regional office.

Low:

These violations are the least likely to impact health and safety, but they still show that a facility is out of compliance with some child care regulations. If you would like an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or would like additional information about this facility’s compliance, please contact your regional office.

Note on Frequency of Inspections

Centers, Group Homes, and Licensed Family Homes::

In 2014, legislation was passed that changed the number of unannounced visits from two per year to one per year in Child Care Centers, Group Child Care Homes, and Licensed Family Child Care Homes. As a result of this new law, you may see a decrease in the number of deficiencies listed on this website for these types of providers. Unannounced visits are still made in response to a complaint, and visits are scheduled with the facility during the re-licensing process, which occurs every two years.

Registered Family Homes:

Most family homes are registered, not licensed. In 2014, legislation was passed that allows Child Care Licensing to make one unannounced visit to these homes each year. As a result of this new law, you may see an increase in the number of deficiencies listed on this website for Registered Family Child Care Homes. Unannounced visits are still made in response to a complaint. Click here for an overview of each facility and the requirements they must meet according to state law.

The work of teachers with children provides the formation of prerequisites for learning activities and the qualities necessary for adaptation and successful learning.

A distinctive feature of the classes in art workshop “Watercolor” is the familiarization of children with the world of fine arts, knowledge of the variety of fine techniques and materials, the development of individual creative abilities. Children learn to consider and express an emotional attitude to works of fine art, when performing practical work, to be able to use the elementary figurative possibilities of artistic knowledge and skills – color, tone, line, volume, space, which helps in the future when choosing a profession – someone will become a designer, someone is a stylist, and someone is an artist!

Classes in dance and choreographic studio “Sudarushka” develop plasticity, artistry, creativity and imagination, the ability to transform and move on stage, the ability to listen and love music. This is one of the favorite children’s activities, as the kids are so overflowing with vital energy that they absolutely cannot sit still and always prefer the one where they need to move to all types of activities. Therefore, choreography classes in kindergarten, which usually take place to cheerful music, seem tempting and attractive to kids!

The full physical development of children is helped by classes in the martial arts club in Choi Kwang Do , which are taught by the Chief Instructor, International Class Examiner, fourth dan in Choi Kwang Do, first dan in Taekwondo Alexander Stremin.

how to prepare for the test? — HEROES

The summer camp season for a child is a great opportunity not only to relax, but also to gain important communication and socialization skills, improve physical fitness and raise their level of independence and responsibility. But what if it’s scary to send a child to the camp, and the hand itself reaches out to call a distant child every 4 hours? The current topic is invited to be analyzed by the experts of the “Parent University” at the online lecture “Parental fears and summer camp: the most popular questions”, which will be held on May 11.

Children’s camps will start welcoming their first guests in a few weeks.

In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic almost wiped out summer wellness holidays, and therefore many parents and children have high hopes for the 2021 season. Following the decision of the chief sanitary doctor of Russia, country health camps and sanatoriums can work as usual, but with PCR tests for employees who plan to leave the camp.

However, neither vaccination nor increased vigilance of summer holiday organizers can completely reassure parents who send a schoolchild to a children’s camp. But in how easy and useful the camp shift will be, parents play a significant role.

Anxiety about a child is a natural feeling, but it should also be controlled so as not to infect the student with anxiety and maintain one’s own health. How parents can cope with their fears and teach a child to be independent and responsible, will tell at an open online lecture Elena Kuzina — psychologist, coach and methodologist of the HEROI project.

The webinar will take place on May 11 at 17:00, registration is open here.

Together with an expert, viewers will be able to understand the causes of their fears and get answers to the most painful questions: how to understand whether a child is ready to be separated from his parents? How can I help my child adjust to camp? What to do if a student asks to go home? And, of course, how to get rid of overprotection and what can it lead to?

“It seems to us that we understand the causes of our anxiety, and they are simple and banal.

About ECECD | Early Childhood Education & Care Department

About ECECD | Early Childhood Education & Care Department

In 2019, Gov. Lujan Grisham and the New Mexico Legislature created the Early Childhood Education and Care Department. The Department officially launched on July 1, 2020.

The Department’s aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five—and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need. This work is informed by New Mexico’s Birth-Five Needs Assessment (Spanish version here) and the related Native American Perspectives report, which include feedback from thousands of New Mexicans.

The Department also oversees child care programs—as well as food and nutrition programs—that serve older children and families.

$

The Early Learning Advisory Council (ELAC) will met on Monday, December 19, 2022. Click here to view meeting materials and learn more about New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department Advisory Council.

Cabinet Secretary

ECECD is led by Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky. Sec. Groginsky began her early childhood career in Head Start – first as a family services coordinator, then as an administrator of a Head Start program, and eventually as director of Colorado’s Head Start State Collaboration Office. Later, she directed early childhood education for United Way Worldwide and steered the Early Childhood Data Collaborative, a national coalition designed to improve state policies and practices around early childhood data systems.

Most recently, Secretary Groginsky served as assistant superintendent of early learning in the District of Columbia, spearheading the District’s efforts toward universal PreK and focusing on ensuring equal access for all families and young children.

Deputy Secretary

Mickelson has over 13 years of early childhood experience, beginning her career as a head start teacher and most recently serving as director of early childhood initiatives for Harris County in Texas. Mickelson served as chief of programs and chief of staff for the Oregon Early Learning Division of the Oregon Department of Education. She also worked for the Bainum Family Foundation, where she led the policy strategy that resulted in the District of Columbia Birth-to-Three for All Act, a law aimed at expanding and improving early childhood supports in health and education. Mickelson holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree from Brown University.

Assistant Secretary for Native American Early Education and Care

Cotillion Sneddy was raised in Crownpoint, New Mexico in the eastern region of the Navajo Nation and comes from the Water-Flows Together people and born for the Start-of-the-Red-Streak people. She brings twenty-four years of experience in early childhood to the position, ranging from roles as a teacher assistant and home visitor in Head Start, a supervisor of student/teacher programs at the University of New Mexico, director of early childhood programs and operations in Tlicho, in the Canadian Northwest Territories, Early Literacy coordinator/coach, and most recently, teaching early childhood classes for Northland Pioneer College. She has also served on the Navajo Nation First Things First Regional Council.

The position of Assistant Secretary of Native American Early Education and Care, is mandated by the legislation establishing ECECD as a cabinet-level government agency with the goal of ensuring that early education and care in Native American communities is represented at the very top of the leadership structure. ECECD is the first and only state early childhood education department to create this type of position.

Obviously, this contingent is in dire need of qualified specialists who can work with young children, in methodological and psychological-pedagogical support. Features of early childhood make special demands on the teacher and create certain difficulties in his work. The first difficulty is the increased attachment of the child to the mother and the problem of adaptation to new conditions and the children’s institution. Some children with great difficulty survive even a short-term separation from their mother: they cry loudly, they are afraid of everything, they resist any attempts to involve them in any activity. It requires patience, the ability to inspire confidence in oneself and cooperation with the mother of the child.

An educator is not only a profession, the essence of which is to give knowledge. Educator – reveals talents, awakens curiosity, teaches diligence, perseverance, dedication, kindness, responsiveness and love. The education of the teacher, his erudition, will help create a role model for his little wards. Thus, the personality of the educator must be distinguished by an enviable impeccability. But even more requirements are currently being placed on the personality of the educator working with young children.

Early childhood is the foundation of the overall development of the child, the starting period of all human beginnings. It is in the early years that the foundations of the health and intelligence of the baby are laid, it is at this age that the mental and moral development especially depends on his physical condition and mood. At the present stage of development of scientific knowledge about early childhood, the idea of the intrinsic value of the first years of a child’s life as the foundation for the formation of his personality has been confirmed. The emotional attitude towards people, the world, and oneself laid down during this period is remembered by the baby and realized for many years. The task of modern pedagogy is to realize in the educational process the inherent value of early age as the basic basis of all subsequent development.

These features of young children place high demands on the actions of an adult. They should be extremely expressive, emotional and contagious. Only one’s own enthusiasm can convey to a small child an interest in any activity. It requires increased sensitivity to the states of the baby, expressive movements and facial expressions, artistry. Words must be included in real actions, accompanied by appropriate gestures and movements. The emotional involvement of an adult in the necessary actions is necessary. This is the only way to convey to the child an interest in a new activity, to attract and captivate with it, and thus arouse his own desire.

To help the child adapt to kindergarten, the teacher should discuss the following questions with parents before the child enters kindergarten:
– what is the child’s daily routine and how are the routine procedures carried out in the family?
– what type of communication does the baby prefer?
– whether to strive for independence?
– how does one treat strangers?
– how does he feel in a society of peers and can he communicate with them?

In the work of a teacher, one should take into account such a characteristic feature of the mental organization of young children as the immediacy and emotionality of perception of the surrounding world. They are able to focus their attention only on what interests them, what fascinates them. Therefore, all influences of adults should be expressive, emotional and “contagious”. Interest in activities is easily transferred to the baby when the adult himself is passionate about it. The words of the educator should not only be included in the context of real actions, but have a bright intonation coloring, accompanied by appropriate gestures, movements, facial expressions. The emotional involvement of children in this or that activity, the involvement of the educator himself in it create a “general semantic field” of interaction, stimulate the activity of each child.

The development and education of babies takes place in specially organized games and activities, during which children acquire knowledge and skills, without which their normal development is impossible. Games – classes with toddlers are conducted by educators in groups.

The methodology of educational activities with young children has its own specifics. It is related to the peculiarities of the development and behavior of babies:

  • educational activities are carried out in a playful way, taking into account the decisive importance of the emotional factor of children in subgroups: the number of participants is 6-8 children. The duration of the lesson does not exceed 8-10 minutes, necessarily with the inclusion of a motor task;
  • it is important to repeat classes, actions, skills, knowledge acquired by a child do not become stable immediately and are easily destroyed. The theme is repeated, but with different material; or the same material, but the task changes.

Toddlers do not perceive appeals or suggestions addressed to the whole group. They need a look in the eye, a call by name, a gentle touch, in a word, everything that testifies to the personal attention and personal address of an adult;
A young child cannot regulate his behavior through words. Children react to the expressiveness of facial expressions, the emotionality of the teacher.

Games for young children during the period of adaptation to kindergarten conditions | Consultation (younger group):

Dear parents!

A very important period has come in your life and in the life of your child: entering a kindergarten is a new place for him with unfamiliar adults. A natural reaction to novelty is not only physical discomfort (muscle tension, increased breathing), when the child explores a new space, is forced to navigate in it, but also emotional stress, when emotions of anxiety and anger prevail.

The child worries: “How can I live without my mother? Will they forget me here? A preschooler’s getting used to kindergarten is not an easy process, since the adaptive capabilities of the child’s body are limited. Help the child during this period should be close to him people. To reduce stress, it is necessary to switch the baby’s attention to activities that bring him pleasure.

At preschool age it is, first of all, a game. The “language” of games is understandable and accessible to any child. He gets the opportunity to express his emotions, experiences, communicate with peers, get acquainted with the norms and rules of life, gets inner freedom (to play with whomever he wants, where he wants, as much as he wants, than he wants).

  1. “Let’s get to know each other!”

Children with a teacher stand in a circle. The leader holds the ball (for this game it is better to use an inflatable ball, since it is light and usually bright, colorful). The child says his name and the name of the person to whom he throws the ball. The named child catches the ball, calls the name and the name of the next participant in the game. Usually, kids play this game with pleasure, but you can diversify it: instead of a ball, pass a toy (the most beautiful one) or invite children to greet each other by name.

  1. “Inflate, bubble!”

Children with a teacher create a tight circle – this is a “deflated” bubble. Everyone begins to “inflate” it: tilting their heads down, they blow into fists, one below the other, like a pipe. With each “blowing”, they take a step back, as if the bubble had increased a little. Then everyone joins hands, walks in a circle with the words: Inflate, bubble, inflate big, Stay like that, but don’t burst! It turns out a large stretched circle. Then the facilitator (first the teacher, and later one of the children) says: “Hop!” — the bubble burst. Everyone should scatter around the room (bubbles scattered).

  1. Caterpillar

Children stand one after another and hold on to their shoulders. In this position, they overcome the following obstacles: get up and get off the chair, crawl under the tables, go around the “wide lake”, get through the “dense forest”, hide from the “wild animals”.

  1. “Bears”

The leader (first it can be a toy, then a child) catches up with the children running around the room. Those touched by the host join hands and form a “chain”. The next “bears” are caught in a “chain”.

Playing with sand

Playing with sand shows the child’s natural activity. The first contacts of children with each other occur in the sandbox, which is why it is natural to use the sandbox, conducting corrective, developing and educational activities. Sand is an excellent psychoprophylactic agent. The idea of sand therapy was proposed by the Swiss psychologist and philosopher C. G. Jung. Watching children play in the sandbox, we see how sand has a positive effect on emotional well-being, being an excellent tool for the development and self-realization of a child. At the stage of adaptation of the child, we use educational games aimed at developing tactile-kinesthetic sensitivity and fine motor skills. These simple exercises are accessible to children and contribute to the stabilization of the emotional state, which is extremely important in the first days of a child’s stay in a preschool institution. The sandbox can be of any shape, but for correctional classes, square or round is preferred: this shape improves the processes of personality integration on a subconscious level. The inner surface should be painted blue or blue – the bottom of the sandbox symbolizes water, and the sides – the sky. There are certain requirements for sand: it must be clean, sifted (preferably calcined). In addition to spatulas, molds, scoops, a collection of small toys and objects should be collected.

1. Imprints of our hands: the surface of the sand is even; wet sand. The child and the teacher take turns making handprints – either the inside or the outside. It is necessary to slightly press your hand into the sand, listen to your feelings. The sand is cool or warm, dry or wet, when we move our hands over the sand we feel small grains of sand.

2. Imprints of fists, knuckles:

task – to find similarities with familiar objects (flower, sun, hedgehog).

3. Slide your palms on the surface of the sand – zigzag and circular movements:

task – show how a car drives, a snake crawls, a carousel. Along with sand games, you can play games with water. The value of these exercises is that, along with the development of tactile-kinesthetic sensitivity and fine motor skills, the child speaks about his feelings, develops speech, voluntary attention, and memory. There is a formation of such personality traits as initiative, independence, the ability to solve problems in the game.

Games for establishing contact with the child

  1. Give me a pen!

The teacher approaches the child and holds out his hand: Let’s say hello. Give me a pen!

In order not to frighten the baby, one should not show excessive assertiveness: do not come too close, say the words of address to the child in a low, calm voice. To communicate correctly, squat down or a high chair – it is better that the adult and the child are at the same level, they can look into each other’s faces.

  1. Hello! Bye!”

The teacher approaches the child and waves his hand in greeting. -Hello! Hello! Then he invites the child to respond to the greeting. -Let’s say hello. Wave your hand! Hello! At parting, the game is repeated – the teacher waves his hand. -Bye! Bye! Then he invites the baby to say goodbye.

-Wave goodbye. Bye! This ritual of meeting-farewell should be repeated regularly at the beginning and end of the session. Gradually, the child will begin to show more initiative, learn to greet the teacher at a meeting and parting on their own. This game is useful because it teaches the rules of behavior between people.

  1. “Maple Leaves”

The teacher turns on soft music and distributes maple leaves to each child. The following words are spoken: Imagine that you are maple leaves. Autumn came, the wind tore the leaves from the trees and they swirled in the air. Show how the leaves dance in the wind. Children, depicting the flight of leaves, whirl to the music. Leaf fall, leaf fall (circling, depicting leaves), yellow leaves fly (throw leaves up). Rustling under foot, rustling (walking on the leaves), the garden will soon become bare (lie down on the floor and listen to music).

  1. “Train”

The teacher offers to play “train”: “I am a locomotive, and you are wagons”. Children stand in a column one after another, holding on to the clothes of the person in front. “Let’s go,” the adult says, and everyone starts moving, saying: “Choo-choo-choo.” The teacher leads the train in one direction, then in the other, then slows down, stops and says: “Stop.”
This game encourages the development of basic movements – running and walking.

  1. “Catch-up” (conducted with 2-3 children)

The teacher encourages the children to run away from the doll, hide behind the screen, the doll catches up with them, looks for them, rejoices that she has found them, hugs them: “Here are my children.” Option: the game is played with a bear.

  1. “Drawing different figures”

The teacher sits with the child at the table or on the floor. Draws a circle on paper. Then he gives the child a pencil and runs his hand with a pencil over the paper, trying to draw a circle. Tells him when he finishes: “What a good picture turned out.” In the same way, he helps the baby draw other shapes, draw zigzag lines, and each time repeats: “What a good picture turned out.” Then he invites the child to act with a pencil on his own. Each time the teacher starts the game, the teacher takes a pencil of a different color – this will help the child learn to distinguish colors. Games like this encourage creativity.

  1. “Bunny”

Children, holding hands, walk in a circle together with the teacher. One child – “bunny” – sits in a circle on a chair (“sleeping”). The teacher sings a song: Bunny, bunny, what’s wrong with you? You are sitting very sick. You don’t want to play. Dance with us. Bunny, bunny, dance and find another. After these words, the children stop and clap their hands. “Bunny” gets up and chooses a child, calling him by name, and he stands in a circle. The game is repeated.

Physical exercises and games that can be carried out several times a day will help smooth out the adaptation period.
