About Starter Set Preschool & Child Development Center
The next step in your child’s learning journey just might be Starter Set Preschool & Child Development Center! Starter Set Preschool & Child Development Center welcomes the families of Los Angeles with a center-based setting where students can learn, laugh, play and grow alongside peers of similar ages and non-family adults that specialize in developing the learning skills critical for the years ahead. Center-based environments like at Starter Set Preschool & Child Development Center are popular choices with families that value a school-like environment and the socialization opportunities that come with a strong peer set! With a full-time schedule, as well, Starter Set Preschool & Child Development Center allows parents to work and assume other responsibilities while their children are playing and learning amongst their peers. Children have the opportunity to get used to the natural rhythms of a daily structured learning environment with a full-time schedule, which can help smooth the transition into kindergarten and future education. The full-time schedule allows plenty of opportunities for creativity and fun, too, as the day always feels too short when you’re having fun! Starter Set Preschool & Child Development Center teaches a play-based curriculum that values self-directed, interactive, intuitive learning by and for children. Students at play-based schools get the opportunity to participate in theme-based, hands-on activities with staff that facilitate and direct the discovery process. Through these hands-on activities, students develop social, cognitive and emotional skills built through the cooperation process with their peers. A play-based approach also can spark a love of learning that will be foundational for students throughout their early years of formal school.

Ana knows that today will be perfect. She’ll lead her baseball team to their first ever championship and then meet her new baby brother Louis. But when problems arise both on the field and in the hospital, Ana must figure out what perfect means to her. Can Grammie’s science lesson somehow inspire Ana to lead the Rascals to victory? And can the Rascals’ struggle against the stronger Skippers teach Ana about genes, genomes, and her brother Lou? With home runs and hugs and genetics and grapefruit, Ana teaches us the meaning of perfect.

9 0000 Saint Louis University – Saint Louis, Missouri
University Profile
Saint Louis University is a private Catholic university founded in 1818 by the Bishop of Louisiana Louis de Bourg and since 1826 under the auspices of the Jesuits, but accepting representatives of any religion. It is the oldest American high school west of the Mississippi River.
St. Louis University has always been an innovative institution, while remaining faithful to the Catholic tradition. The Jesuits have been famous for centuries for their success in the education of children and youth.
The learning process in SLU is based on several principles:
Harmonious development of personality (improvement of the mind, heart, body, spirit).
High academic standards.
Teaching specific methods of thinking.
Development of public speaking skills.
Education of leadership qualities.
99% of university teachers are highly qualified in their field. 95% of freshmen received financial aid in 2013. All new entrants are guaranteed a hostel.
For many years, the university symbol has been Billiken – a funny figure of a sitting man with pointed ears, who is considered a good luck talisman, the god of “things as they should be.”
Notable SLU alumni include former Nicaraguan President Geyer Enrique Bolaños, U.S. congressmen and senators, 5 mayors of St. Louis, August Bush IV, president of the legendary Anheuser-Busch brewing company, NASA’s leading space flight director Eugene Krantz, one of the pioneers of distance learning, Jesse Grant Chaplin , Diebold ATM CEO Walden O’Dell, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, 11 award-winning theatrical producer Tony Merrick David, and many more.
Key Facts
Founded: 1818.
Enrollment: Over 13,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 states and 75 nations worldwide.
The main campus of the university is located on the waterfront of the Mississippi River, five minutes from the Gates of the West – America’s tallest monument and the hallmark of the city. Just as St. Louis served as the last stop for pioneers on their way to the Pacific coast in search of a better life, SLU itself has served as a gateway to the future for students for 200 years.
St. Louis is a metropolitan area with a population of 2.8 million, 3 airports and the MetroLink light rail system. The city is located in the central part of the United States: by plane in 3 hours you can fly to Los Angeles, 2 – to New York and less than an hour – to Chicago. In summer it is hot enough to swim, and in winter you can see snow. St. Louis has the most beautiful parks and many free museums with rich collections, a zoo, a botanical garden, a planetarium, and the luxurious Fox Theater.
Graduates have ample opportunities for employment. The city is home to the headquarters of Fortune Global 500 companies such as Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser beer), Monsanto (Roundup herbicide) and pharmaceutical Express Scripts.
The campus covers an area of 95 hectares and includes more than 130 buildings and structures, including 4 libraries, the Clock Tower, academic buildings, a 10-story state-of-the-art research center, dormitories, and sports facilities. In the last 20 years alone, investments in the material and technical base of SLU amounted to 840 million dollars.
The second campus of the university is located in Madrid (Spain).
Ranking and achievements of the university
99th in the National University Rankings (U. S. News & World Report 2015).
Included in the TOP-500 best universities in the world (Academic Ranking of World Universities 2014).
126-146 place in the national ranking ARWU 2014.
12 undergraduate programs are ranked among the top 50 in their field in the country (U.S. News & World Report Rankings). Especially highly rated medical law (2nd place), healthcare management (91st place), supply chain management (13th), entrepreneurship (14th), international business and geriatrics (16th).
SLU is one of the 7 Catholic universities with a high level of research activity.
In 2011, the university won the STARS Bronze Award for Campus Greening.
In the US, the university has a strong reputation as a character-building college – a college that educates character. No wonder he entered the publication of the John Templeton Foundation, which compiled a list of such educational institutions.

Paperclip Magic Trick
For our first trick, we chose a simple one with a major WOW factor. A dollar bill and two paperclips are all your magician will need to get “oohs” and “ahhs” from audience members of all ages. Make the magic happen by jumping over to Kids Activity Blog for the how-to.
Color Coded Cards
Card counting isn’t a necessary skill when performing the color card trick, which makes it perfect for tiny magicians’ assistants. Simply separate a deck into black and red stacks (without showing anyone), then ask an audience member to pick, look at, and reinsert a card; after cutting the stack, “magically” select the right card (it should be the only wrong card in a colored stack). If you’re curious about the fine print, Funology has the details.

Awesome Illusions Your older brainiacs may know the secret behind plastic and polymers, so this “magic” trick is a great way to have your science pros impress any younger siblings. We’ve got the scoop for any sorcerers’ assistants right here.
Disappearing Coin Magic Trick
Beginning illusionists will really need to get their hocus pocus working if they want to make a coin disappear. From sweeping the coin under the table to saying the magic words, kids trying this trick will learn that practice makes perfect, and a lot of hand waving helps. You can get the whole tutorial over at Kid Spot.

Floating Toothpick Magic Trick
This trick gives liquid soap a little mojo (we aren’t talking dirty dishes). Getting the five toothpicks to stay in the right place while floating in the water will be your little magician’s hardest challenge. This trick is all about the science of water and surface tension, so kids will be learning a little something, too! You can find out how to master this gimmick over at Kid Zone.

Magnetic Pencil Magic Trick
From levitating, and rubber-esque scribblers, to sticking a #2 through your head; there is more than one way to perform a magic pencil trick. The one we like for beginning magicians will defy the laws of magnetic forces—the pencil will seem to be stuck to the performer’s hand. Magneto would approve! Find out how to perfect this trick here.

Coin-in-Matchbox Magic Trick
Presto! The classic coin-in-matchbox not only looks super cool, but after a few practice rounds, it’s a trick even a muggle can manage. You don’t need anything but the box, a coin, and a few views of this awesome tutorial from Instructables.

Product Description
Master the magical arts! With this extensive collection of magic props, you can easily learn, practice, and perform 150 incredible magic tricks and illusions to astonish spectators. In tricks using cups and balls, balls disappear, appear, and change places inside moving cups. Cotton balls transport themselves from hand to pocket and from hand to hand. In tricks with a tube, confetti and snow appear out of nowhere and dice and knots appear and disappear. A six-sided die baffles the mind and fools the eye. Little rabbit shapes appear, disappear, multiply, and hop around. Metal rings move around, link up, and unlink again Seemingly simple balls aren’t so simple: They appear, disappear, multiply, balance, change places, change colors, and altogether bewilder your audience. A magic wand loses its rigidity, floats in the air, and lets a rope pass right through it. Knots in ropes appear and disappear, a rope gets cut but stays intact, and a rope is pulled out of your mouth! Learn a wide variety of rope and plastic ring illusions. Coins appear in a dinner roll. Coins cry tears of joy. Cola turns into coins! Many tricks use food and household objects: Water levitates, citrus fruits transform, and toothpicks mystify. Tricks with sugar and salt stupefy the audience. Magically guess birthdays, numbers, and colors. Levitate yourself and objects. Bend and restore metal. Practice dozens of tricks with playing cards: guessing, transforming, locating, and making cards vanish. Finally, amaze the audience with tricks that make a thimble appear, disappear, jump around, and pass through objects. A 96-page instruction manual with color photographs illustrates how the tricks are performed. Video tutorials for the tricks are available online. For one magician, ages 8 and up, and many audience members.

Spanish researchers taught the computer vision algorithm to perceive tricks of an illusionist with a coin in the same way as a person does. To do this, they asked a professional illusionist to show a few tricks to the viewer and a recognition algorithm based on DeepLabCut, which is used to track laboratory animals. Two of the seven tricks shown were able to successfully deceive both humans and computers, and the results of the work may help in the future to study the perception of such tricks by viewers, scientists write in a preprint on arXiv.org.
There is no magic in the magic tricks that illusionists perform, all the success of their performance comes down to sleight of hand. On the other hand, it is also a matter of human perception: the actions of the illusionist are designed to mislead the viewer, playing on his attentiveness and concentration. Therefore, for those who follow the magician’s hands very carefully, there is no magic, and deception in some tricks can be easily detected if, for example, you record his performance on video and slowly lose.
Of course, the situation is slightly different with the perception of such tricks by computer vision algorithms: in fact, the computer is freed from the possibility of being deceived, and in its case, how well it can recognize deception depends on the quality of its work. To check whether it is possible to teach such an algorithm to look at the tricks of illusionists as a person, the researchers decided, led by Alex Gomez-Marin (Alex Gomez-Marin) from the Institute of Neurosciences in Alicante (Spain).
For this, scientists hired a professional illusionist and asked him to show seven simple visual tricks with coins – without any verbal additions that can distract the viewer and affect the success of the illusion. The tricks differed in the movements of the illusionist’s hand necessary for the disappearance of the coin: for example, in one it was important to drag the coin across the table, and in the other, for example, its capture.
All the tricks were shown to people, as well as to an algorithm based on DeepLabCut, which was presented by German scientists last year: it is used to automatically track the movements of laboratory animals and can even analyze the movements of certain parts of their bodies (for example, the paws of mice). The task of the algorithm was to determine the location of the coin at the end of each trick – exactly the same task was faced by the participants in the study.
Scientists compared the results of a human and an algorithm and found that they were both able to deceive only in two cases. Three tricks that deceived the audience did not deceive the algorithm – it determined the position of the coin. Also, one trick deceived the algorithm, but not the audience, and one – vice versa. For example, the fourth trick, in which the illusionist puts coins in a row (you can see it on the video), turned out to be simple for the algorithm, but was able to deceive the viewer, because the latter’s attention during the movements was directed to the hand in which the illusionist initially held the coins, therefore, the fact that the magician places the coin with the other hand went unnoticed. Since an algorithm trained to track a coin has no problem tracking two hands at once, it was not fooled. On the other hand, in the sixth trick—exactly the same as the first, but specially made with a mistake—the algorithm, unlike the viewer, failed to recognize the deception, since the tossed coin, apparently, turned out to be an edge in relation to the camera, which and caused difficulties in recognition for the computer, and not for the person.
The authors clarify that they were not interested in the ability of the algorithm to quickly figure out the illusionist’s tricks. Rather, they wanted to see if it was possible to make him look at them in the same way that an ordinary person looks, and not one who seeks to unravel the deception, but one who actually perceives the trick as some kind of magic. The fact that in some cases DeepLabCut was not really able to recognize deception in the same way as a person, means, according to scientists, that such algorithms can be used to analyze human perception – just in situations similar to the tricks of illusionists.
Modern technologies are used in illusionism and outside of research. For example, a few years ago, Magic Lab used 24 quadcopters for one of their stunts: you can read about it here.

The most dangerous magic tricks. Chemical magic tricks Criss Angel walks on water
Magic has always excited the human mind. Magicians at all times have fascinated the public – and not only with the tricks themselves, but also with the brilliance and elegance of the performances. The tricks of the most eminent masters of illusion, which are presented below, won the hearts of the most persistent skeptics of their time:
David Blaine “Frozen in Time”
On November 27, 2000, millions of viewers watched David Blaine perform one of the most dangerous magic tricks on live television. He was placed in an ice capsule, and in this frosty sarcophagus he spent 63 hours 42 minutes and 15 seconds. Since the ice was transparent, everyone could be sure that Blaine was really there all the time. After being removed from the ice capsule, he was immediately hospitalized as he was in a state of disorientation.
“The Statue of Liberty Disappears”
In 1983, David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear on live television. First, he raised a giant partition that separated the eyes of the audience from the statue, and after a few seconds lowered it, but the figure was no longer in its original place. Copperfield even directed beams of searchlights at the place of the disappeared statue to show that nothing was blocking it.
“Decapitation” by Cyril Takayama
Illusionist Cyril Takayama made the whole world gasp when he demonstrated the trick of removing his own head. The famous illusionist Cyril is a Japanese with French roots. He is known to the rest of the world for his deft trick, in which his head flies off his shoulders. This spectacular trick will never cease to horrify the public.
David Copperfield’s “Levitation”
Once again, David Copperfield impresses everyone with his brilliant magic trick in which he soars like a bird over the American Grand Canyon without the aid of any technique.
“Metamorphoses” of the Pendragon couple
The magic of illusion attracts not so much by the result of the trick, but by its spectacularity and creativity. Being not only the most agile illusionists, the Pendragon couple also skillfully attracted the audience with the eccentricity of their performances.
Richard Ross and the usual sleight of hand
The audience adored Richard Ross for his great stage performances. Audiences were crazy about his amazing collection of tricks with hands, rings and other objects. Definitely worth watching a short video where he performs masterful tricks with headbands.
David Blaine turns coffee into coins
David Blaine’s magical live performances brought him unprecedented success. One of these popular tricks is turning liquid coffee into a large handful of coins, which he gave to the poor man right in the same cup.
Derren Brown’s Cigarettes
Derren Brown is a respected mentalist and psychological illusionist. He has an outstanding memory, the ability to hypnosis, and can demonstrate psychic abilities such as psychokinesis and clairvoyance.
Rollercoaster Death Number
Lance Barton is known for his many stunts and is also the creator of the longest running magic act. Already at the age of five, Lance began to show tricks and to this day continues to amaze the world with his original tricks.
Thomas Blackthorne swallowing a hammer drill
There are many magicians who love to swallow swords, but nothing compares to swallowing the drill of a working concrete breaker. The audience was shocked by this action during a show on German television.
“Catching a bullet with their teeth”
Penn and Teller perform the trick of catching lead projectiles fired from revolvers at each other. Such bullets are often also marked by spectators, who then identify them. This trick is recognized by experts as legal.
Hans and Helga Moretti – Crossbow Headshot
Such an impressive trick can lead to death, but the Moretti couple is not in vain recognized as one of the best couples of illusionists in Germany. Every time a blindfolded Hans aims a throwing weapon at his wife’s head, the audience definitely experiences great excitement.

David Copperfield – “Portal”
David Copperfield deserves the highest mark among all magicians due to his excellent performance of many magic tricks. Many consider him the most talented magician of all time. In this case, he managed to teleport himself and another bystander to Hawaii.
Let’s do four simple tricks with your body. You will be surprised when you can hold a person in place with just one index finger, make your hands lighter than air, or lengthen your nose. (15 photos)
Trick 1: “I bet you can’t stand up” Have your friend sit on a chair.
Ask him to cross his arms over his chest.
Press your index finger on his forehead.
Now let him try to get up. It is almost impossible to do this without the help of hands.
Trick 2: “Hands are lighter than air” Stand in a doorway.
Press firmly in both directions with your hands. The palms should be directed inward.
After 30 seconds, stand in an empty seat.
You will immediately feel lightness in your hands – as if they would start to move upward without any effort on your part.
Trick 3: Very long nose Sit in a chair behind your friend.
Place the index finger of your right hand on his nose and your left hand on yours.
Close your eyes and simultaneously move both fingers up and down along your nose. After 60 seconds, it will begin to seem to you that you are touching your nose with both your left and right hands!
Trick 4: “In different directions” Sit on a chair. Cross your legs and start moving your foot clockwise.
Now, at the same time, start drawing a circle counterclockwise with your hand in the air.
You will feel how your brain will try to solve two opposite problems at the same time.
Eventually he will give up and give the command to rotate both leg and arm to the same side.
Fit 5 – 15 tricks into one performance. Combine them in a different order, think about how you can combine them and move from one to another. For example, techniques that require the same props can be performed one after the other. Never repeat the same trick in the same bunch and keep these basic principles in mind:
Work out your style. What you say and how you act can be as important to atmosphere as your stunts. If you enjoy joking, then make up a “patter” that makes fun of you and the audience a little, but don’t offend anyone. You can pretend to be surprised by your own tricks, or act mysteriously and powerfully. Make it look like the trick is physically demanding. Try different styles of action and conversation as you prepare and execute your stunt.
Train with your family and friends. Regardless of your true intentions, it’s a good idea to practice your bunch of tricks, but it’s especially important for those who are in the mood for a career as a mage. Strangers on the street can be sympathetic, but you won’t keep their attention on long performances with amateur magic. The best place to hone your skills is at home. You can also try some quick tricks on your teacher or colleague.
Camera your actions. This allows you to carefully and objectively review your performance, correct mistakes or improve difficult tricks. To do this, view the recording in slow motion. Review your work for improvement. Looking at your tricks in the mirror will also help. Look at your body language and facial expressions.
Film the performance from multiple angles to make sure the stunts look convincing no matter where the audience is standing. You may need to train them more often or use different variations. Hiding an object in your sleeve may look unconvincing in some ways, for example, hiding something behind your arm will take more practice.
Post your videos on the magic forums and ask for comments.
Go outside. Slowly start with a shortened version of your regular combo, using only the most practiced tricks. Then move on to longer strings with more variety. In addition to improving your technique, you must also take care of the art of attracting the crowd and keeping their interest and attention.
Be mindful of your viewers’ time. Avoid using volunteers and do not detain passers-by if they are uncomfortable.
Improve your performance. Remember that magic is focused on people, so you will need skills to work with them. Develop your style, practice outside, note which stories attract or repel attention. Ask your volunteers basic questions, ask their names, speak loudly and confidently in order to attract a large crowd. Remember that street magic is a show.
Pay attention to your clothes and appearance. Some magicians, especially those who perform for children, wear extravagant costumes. Most street magicians prefer to dress well, but at the same time, they do not differ from people on the street.
Add new tricks to your bundle. Illusions have fascinated audiences on busy city streets for centuries. Innovative techniques have always been the best way to grab attention. Without a unique combination of classic and new street techniques, you will quickly lose an audience.
It’s hard to come up with a new trick from scratch, although with experience you’ll get some ideas. Until then, combine the two tricks in a familiar way. (See below).
Any trick that requires props can be combined with sleight of hand. Making your props disappear and reappear before the stunt is complete will cause more laughs than simply replacing the object with a similar one but with different properties, like being flammable or not sinking.
The art of mastering magic and illusion comes from antiquity. It was in the Middle Ages at the fairs that you could see all sorts of magicians who used mechanisms and tricks that were unimaginable at that time. This compilation has kindly collected for you a selection of the most amazing tricks and tricks that won the hearts of even the most severe critics.

The Best Questions to Ask at the End of Every Job Interview
Finding questions to ask your interviewer is a crucial part of preparing for any job interview.
Asking questions is a simple way to show that you’re truly interested in the role and the company.
Here are some smart questions you can ask to impress your next interviewer.

Thinking up questions to ask during job interviews is key.
Remember: Every interview is a two-way street. You should be interviewing the employer just as much as they’re interviewing you. You both need to walk away convinced that the job would be a great fit.
So when the tables are turned and the interviewer asks, “Do you have any questions for me?” take advantage of this opportunity. It’s the best way to determine if you’d be happy working for this employer, and whether your goals are aligned with theirs.
Plus, asking questions is a simple way to convey your enthusiasm for the role and the organization that you’re looking to join.
But sometimes it’s tricky to think up questions to ask on the spot. So you should do your research, and come prepared with some questions for your interviewer.
Luckily, there are plenty of great questions to pick from, no matter your job level or industry. Here are some of them:
‘Have I answered all your questions?’
Before you begin asking your questions, find out if there’s anything they’d like you to elaborate on. You can do this by saying something like: “Yes, I do have a few questions for you — but before I get into those, I am wondering if I’ve sufficiently answered all of your questions. Would you like me to explain anything further or give any examples?”
Not only will they appreciate the offer, but it may be a good chance for you to gauge how well you’re doing, says Bill York, an executive recruiter with over 30 years of experience and the founder of the executive search firm Tudor Lewis.
If they say, “No, you answered all of my questions very well,” then this may tell you you’re in good shape. If they respond with, “Actually, could you tell me more about X?” or “Would you be able to clarify what you meant when you said Y?” this is your chance for a redo.
‘Who do you think would be the ideal candidate for this position, and how do I compare?’
Amy Hoover, former executive vice president of Talent Zoo, recommends this question because it’s a quick way to figure out whether your skills align with what the company is currently looking for. If they don’t match up, you may consider walking away instead of spending more time pursuing a position that may be wrong for you, she said.
‘Is there anything I’ve said that makes you doubt I would be a great fit for this position?’
“If you can find the courage to put your interviewer on the spot, it can help you get a quick read on the situation, provide you with valuable feedback on your candidacy, and give you the opportunity to address any objections the hiring manager may have while you still have that person’s full attention,” Amanda Augustine, a career expert for TopResume, previously told Business Insider.
‘Do you have any hesitations about my qualifications?’
While this question puts you in a vulnerable position, it shows that you are confident enough to openly bring up and discuss your weaknesses with your potential employer.
‘What are some of the problems your company faces right now, and what is your department doing to solve them?’
Asking about problems within a company gets the “conversation ball” rolling, and your interviewer will surely have an opinion, Vicky Oliver wrote in her book, “301 Smart Answers to Tough Interview Questions. ” Further, she says their answers will give you insights into their personality and ambitions and will likely lead to other questions.
‘I read X about your CEO in Business Insider. Can you tell me more about this?’
Oliver said questions like this simply show you’ve done your homework and are genuinely interested in the company and its leaders.
Just make sure it’s not a salacious rumor.
‘Who do you consider your major competitors? How are you better?’
This question is not for the faint of heart, but it shows that you are already thinking about how you can help the company rise to meet some of its bigger goals, said Peter Harrison, former CEO of Snagajob.
‘What’s your staff turnover rate and what are you doing to reduce it?’
While this question may seem forward, Harrison said it’s a smart thing to ask because it shows that you understand the importance of landing a secure position. “It is a black and white way to get to the heart of what kind of company this is and if people like to work here,” he said.
‘How would you score the company on living up to its core values? What’s the one thing you’re working to improve on?’
Harrison said this is a respectful way to ask about shortcomings within the company — which you should definitely be aware of before joining. As a bonus, he said it shows that you are being proactive in wanting to understand more about the internal workings of the company before joining it.
‘Can you tell me where the company is going?’
“If you’re talking to the leader of a company, that’s a great question to ask them, because they’re in the best position to tell you that,” Robert Hohman, the cofounder of Glassdoor, previously told Business Insider. “They should be able to articulate that really clearly. And it should be inspiring.”
‘Is there anything we haven’t covered that you think is important to know about working here?’
Hoover said this is a good wrap-up question that gives you a break from doing all the talking. In addition, she said you may get “answers to questions you didn’t even know to ask but are important. “
‘What makes people stay at this company?’
April Boykin-Huchko, an HR consultant, told Business Insider that it’s always a good idea to get a broader sense of the company’s culture.
‘How would you describe the company’s culture?’
Hoover said this question gives you a broad view on the corporate philosophy of a company and on whether it prioritizes employee happiness.
‘What do you like about working here?’
According to The Cut columnist Alison Green, who writes the publication’s “Ask A Boss” column, your interviewer’s answer to this question can reveal a lot about their experience. If they don’t have a lot to say, Green says this is a red flag.
‘Beyond the hard skills required to successfully perform this job, what soft skills would serve the company and position best?’
Knowing what skills the company thinks are important will give you more insight into its culture and its management values, Hoover said, so you can evaluate whether you would fit in.
‘Is there anyone else I need to meet with?/Is there anyone else you would like me to meet with?’
Hoover said knowing if they want you to meet with potential coworkers or not will give you insight into how much the company values building team synergy. In addition, if the interviewer says you have four more interviews to go, then you’ve gained a better sense of the hiring timeline as well, she said.
‘How do you help your team grow professionally?’
Harrison said this question shows that you’re willing to work hard to ensure that you grow along with your company. This is particularly important for hourly workers, he says, because they typically have a higher turnover rate, and are thus always looking for people who are thinking long-term.
‘When your staff comes to you with conflicts, how do you respond?’
Knowing how a company deals with conflicts gives you a clearer picture about the company’s culture, Harrison said. But more importantly, asking about conflict resolution shows that you know dealing with disagreements in a professional manner is essential to the company’s growth and success.
‘Will I have an opportunity to meet those who would be part of my staff/my manager during the interview process?’
Getting the chance to meet with potential teammates or managers is essential to any professional interview process, Hoover said. If they don’t give that chance, “proceed with caution,” she advised.
‘Who would I be reporting to?’
It’s important to ask about the pecking order of a company in case you have several bosses, Oliver wrote.
If you’re going to be working for several people, you need to know “the lay of the internal land,” she says, or if you’re going to be over several people, then you probably want to get to know them before accepting the position.
‘Can you give me an example of how I would collaborate with my manager?’
Knowing how managers work with their employees is important so you can decide whether they are the type of boss that will let you use your strengths to help the company succeed.
‘What are the challenges of this position?’
If the interviewer says, “There aren’t any,” you should proceed with caution.
‘How has this position evolved?’
This question can help you assess whether the job is a dead end or a stepping stone.
‘What have past employees done to succeed in this position?’
The main point of this question is to get your interviewer to reveal how the company measures success.
‘If you were to hire me, what might I expect in a typical day?’
Obviously this shows your eagerness about the position, Harrison said, but it also gives you a better idea about what the job will be like on a daily basis so you can decide whether you really want to pursue it. “A frank conversation about position expectations and responsibilities will ensure not only that this is a job you want, but also one that you have the skills to be successful in,” he said.
‘Is this a new position? If not, why did the person before me leave this role?’
This might be uncomfortable to ask, but Harrison said it’s not uncommon to ask and that it shows you are being smart and analytical by wanting to know why someone may have been unhappy in this role previously.
If you found out they left the role because they were promoted, that’s also useful information.
“It’s helpful to know if the last person quit, if the business is growing, or if there’s some other driver at play,” Angela Copeland, career coach at Copeland Coaching, told Business Insider.
‘What type of employee tends to succeed here? What qualities are the most important for doing well and advancing?’
This question shows the interviewer that you care about your future at the company, and it will also help you decide if you’re a good fit for the position, Oliver wrote. “Once the interviewer tells you what she’s looking for in a candidate, picture that person in your mind’s eye,” she said. The person “should look a lot like you.”
‘How do you evaluate success here?’
Knowing how a company measures its employees’ success is important. It will help you understand what it would take to advance in your career there — and can help you decide if the employer’s values align with your own.
‘Where do you see the company in three years and how would the person in this role contribute to this vision?’
Asking this question will show your interviewer that you can think big picture, that you want to stay with the company long-term, and that you want to make a lasting impression in whatever company you end up at, said Harrison.
‘If hired, what are the three most important things you’d like me to accomplish in the first six to 12 months at the company?’
“Think of every open position as a problem or pain point the company is hoping to solve with the right hire,” Augustine said. “The more you know about the hiring manager’s expectations and metrics for success, the easier it will be for you to tailor the conversation to demonstrate your fit for the role.”
‘Thinking back to people you’ve seen do this job previously, what differentiated the ones who were just good from the ones who were really great at it?’
Green says this is one of the strongest questions she has ever been asked by a job candidate because it shows that you understand what the hiring manager is looking for.
‘What was your career plan before you got into this role, and how has that changed since you’ve been here?’
Most people love to talk about themselves. Toward the end of your conversation, try engaging your interviewer with a discussion about their own professional path.
‘Where do you see yourself in five years?’
Becca Brown, the cofounder of the women’s shoe-care company Solemates, interviewed 20 to 30 job candidates a year in her various roles at Goldman Sachs. She previously told Business Insider she wished candidates would have asked her this question.
“I like this question, and yet no one ever asked it because it’s difficult to answer,” she said. “It’s an important question for anyone to be asking him or herself, and so if ever a candidate were to ask this question, it would have stood out.”
She continued: “I think this is a good question for interviewees to ask because as a candidate if you see where the person interviewing you is headed, you can decide if that trajectory is in line with your career objectives. While they don’t have to be completely correlated, it’s helpful for the candidate to have some indication of the interviewer’s direction.”
‘What’s one of the most interesting projects or opportunities that you’ve worked on?’
“I like this question because it gets me thinking about my own experiences, and my response changes depending on what I was or am working on — and in theory, should always be changing if I’m challenging myself and advancing,” Brown previously told Business Insider.
Brown said that by asking for a specific example, candidates can get a better picture of what the job entails and how people function in certain roles.
“I always liked getting this question because it would make me reflect on what experiences I was excited about or proud of at the time, and it would make me want to create more of these types of opportunities and experiences,” she said.
‘Can you tell me what steps need to be completed before your company can generate an offer?’
“Any opportunity to learn the timeline for a hire is crucial information for you,” Hoover said.
Asking about an “offer” rather than a “decision” will give you a better sense of the timeline because “decision” is a broad term, while an “offer” refers to the point when they’re ready to hand over the contract.
‘What’s your timeline for making a decision, and when can I expect to hear back from you?’
This one tells them you’re interested in the role and eager to hear their decision.
“Knowing a company’s timeline should be your ultimate goal during an interview process after determining your fit for the position and whether you like the company’s culture,” Hoover said. It will help you determine how and when to follow up, and how long to wait before “moving on.”
‘Is there anything else I can provide to help you make your decision?’
This simple question is polite to ask and it can give you peace of mind to know that you’ve covered all your bases. “It shows enthusiasm and eagerness but with polish,” Hoover said.
‘Do you need me to clarify or elaborate on anything I said or that you read on my resume?’
Offer to go into greater detail on any answers you may have given, or any jobs or accomplishments on your resume. The hiring manager will likely appreciate it.

Interviews aren’t just for employers to decide if they want to hire you. They’re also for you to decide whether the employer fits your needs.
Try to prepare around 10-15 questions that interest you. But keep in mind that sometimes there will only be time for a few questions — make sure you prioritize correctly.

50 Questions to Ask an Employer at an Interview
Take the test and find out which area suits you: IT, design or marketing.

What are the most common interview questions
Job seekers have an idea of what questions are usually asked in job interviews. You can easily answer them using memorized phrases. There is no benefit to the employer from this, as job seekers tend to embellish reality in order to impress. Despite this, such questions can be heard all the time. Consider the typical questions that are asked in a job interview and the answers to them.
“Tell me about yourself”
Everything is extremely simple here: you should list all the stages of your biography, starting with education, with a detailed description of your work activity and an indication of professional skills. It is necessary that the whole story takes no more than three minutes and gives a holistic view of you as a master of your craft. It is advisable to write a story in advance.
“Name your strengths and weaknesses”
Focus on the tasks you have to do. Determine which of your qualities will be useful in your work, and which, on the contrary, will interfere. There are many recommendations on the net on what answer to give in this case. As a rule, recruiters find it funny that all applicants like to celebrate their hard work and responsibility.
What are the most common interview questions?
Perhaps you should break with tradition and point out two or three shortcomings that you really have. Naturally, they should not come into direct conflict with job responsibilities, otherwise you simply will not be able to do your job.
One way or another, interviewers often expect such an answer to a manager’s question. If a candidate can give himself a fair assessment, this adds to his importance in the eyes of the employer. However, you should not go deep and list in detail all your shortcomings.
“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
If HR asked you this question in an interview, you don’t have to answer truthfully – no one is going to test you. The employer wants to know what you are striving for and how you plan to achieve the goal. If you dream of becoming a leader, and the vacant position does not open up career prospects, the employer may consider that you will not stay with him for a long time.
There is the opposite situation – when a goal-oriented candidate is required, and you would just like to work at a moderate pace.
“Why should we give you this job?”
At this point, you should summarize your story, highlight those qualities that characterize you as the most suitable applicant: “As far as I understand, you need an attentive and responsible secretary. At my previous job, I did all the assignments alone and never made a mistake in the documents. I believe you are looking for me.”
There are a number of unusual questions that are asked at the interview to the applicant to make an objective portrait of him. It may happen that you are asked about something that is not directly related to work. Do not worry, in this way they are trying to understand your aspirations and learn other valuable information.
An employee may be asked confusing questions during an interview, such as:
“Why are manholes round?”
“What would you do if you shrunk to the size of a coin and fell into a mixer with only minutes left to turn on?”
“How many yellow cars are there in the Czech Republic?”
These questions cannot be answered unambiguously. They are set only in order to understand the logic of the applicant. This matters when the position involves the development of a strategy, and not the implementation of the same type of actions. You need to focus and reflect. Let’s say you figure out how many people live in the Czech Republic, how many cars they have, whether they like the color yellow. It is enough to show imagination and voice your ideas.
Interview questions depending on the type of interview
At the interview, the candidate is asked questions in accordance with the chosen methodology. There are a large number of methods, and it is impossible to say with certainty in advance which one will be used. However, after hearing the questions, you can infer what kind of interview you are going through. Accordingly, it will be easier for you to answer questions to increase the likelihood of obtaining the desired position.
Projective interview
In order to get a complete picture of the applicant and his character traits, employers often want to know his point of view on people and events with which he has nothing to do. Since the applicant is not required to talk about himself, he becomes more relaxed. At the same time, he bases his reasoning on his own experience, which provides the recruiter with valuable insights.
Projective interview
For example, such projective questions are often asked in interviews:
“Why do people need a career?” From the answer to this question, you can understand what motivates the candidate, what goals he sets for himself.
“Tell me about the main causes of disputes in the team.” The purpose of this question is to find out what difficulties the candidate has previously encountered, how he sees the ideal team.
“Which client will the company find difficult to work with?” This question also helps to learn about problems at the same place that may arise again.
“Why do some people become successful while others fail?” In answering this question, the candidate expresses his opinion about what the secret of success is and how to achieve it regularly.
Behavioral interview
Achievement at work is influenced not only by the personal characteristics of the employee. Other factors are of great importance, such as the level of technical equipment or the applied system of evaluation of work. It often happens that a promising employee moves to a new job, but there he fails to achieve impressive results.
To prevent such situations, an analysis of the candidate’s work activity is carried out and a conclusion is made about whether he will become a valuable employee for the organization. Behavioral interview has a certain regulation. The candidate at the interview is asked questions about what difficulties he encountered and how he overcame them.
As a rule, a behavioral interview assumes that you will be asked the following questions at the first interview:
What task was set for you?
What funds did you have?
What did you decide to do?
What difficulties did you encounter?
Evaluate the results of the work.
You should first consider what achievements or failures you would like to mention in the interview. It would be a good option if you supplement your story with specific statistics.
Case interview
A case is a difficult situation from which the applicant is asked to find a way out. When compiling it, the specific needs of the company are taken into account. Let’s say there’s a job opening in the finance department where honesty is a key requirement for candidates.
To verify this quality, the applicant is given a case, which is solved in various ways, including by deception and distortion of facts. Similarly, you can arrange a check for specialists who will regularly deal with clients.

In most cases, a fictitious situation is offered at the interview, and the candidate must answer how he would find a way to solve it. For example, you may be asked the following questions:
You do not have enough funds to organize a major event. What are you willing to sacrifice so that in the end everything goes at the highest level?
Newspapers have published information damaging the reputation of your company. You know they are true, but the leadership demands refutation. Tell me in order what you will do in such a situation.
Based on the case, it is rather difficult to draw a conclusion about what the employer needs to find out. It is advisable not to make assumptions, but to give a truthful answer, how would you solve this problem.
Behavioral interview
Assessment center (personnel assessment center)
This method of assessing an applicant consists of several separate stages: tests, business games, group discussions and a personal presentation. This technique provides a clear picture, but is time-consuming and is used only in those organizations that have sufficient capacity to implement it, and for certain categories of positions, such as middle managers.
Keep in mind that you will need to write a short story about yourself, take a test, take part in competitions and group problem solving.
Thanks to this, the employer has the opportunity to judge the candidate simultaneously by several criteria, such as the manner of communication, approaches to solving problems, the ability to work in a team. To be prepared for such an interview, before passing it, it is recommended to relax and set yourself up for a favorable result.
Group interview
This method is used when it is necessary to recruit several employees at the same time in a short time, for example, order clerks or sales assistants. This time is enough to interview all applicants according to the standard scheme. If you follow the rules of communication and stay calm, the employer will immediately pay attention to you.
50 questions to ask an employer at a job interview
Interviews should not be seen as just a step towards getting a job. During its passage, you will be able to understand how this work satisfies your needs. Therefore, do not be afraid to ask relevant questions in an offline or online interview. To make it easier for you, below are the main questions that applicants are interested in. The main thing is not to be too persistent, otherwise you can ruin your reputation.
General questions
To begin with, it is important to make sure that you have found exactly the job that you are ready to perform constantly in the near future:
What makes up a typical working day?
What projects will I be involved in? Can I see examples?
What qualities should an ideal candidate have?
What contributes to the successful implementation of the tasks?
What does not suit you in the current team?
What difficulties might I have in a new job?
What funds will be allocated for the implementation of the project?
This vacancy is open for the first time?
Can I have other responsibilities?
Training and professional development
See your new job as a stepping stone to your career. What are the prospects for you in this position?
Training and professional development
Does the company offer training and/or mentoring?
In what areas is professional development possible?
Is it possible to count on promotion and professional growth?
Will I speak at conferences on behalf of the company?
How did this vacancy come about? Why did my predecessor leave this place?
What are the employees who were in this position and who were promoted doing now?
Evaluation of your work
You must have a good idea of the nature of your work and how its results will be evaluated.
What tasks do I have to complete during the trial period?
What should be the outcome of my work in your company in a year?
How is staff performance evaluated and how often is the evaluation performed?
By what criteria will you evaluate my work?
Questions to the Interlocutor
When you seek to learn more about the interviewer, it improves communication.
How long have you been with the company?
What positions did you hold here?

The company as a whole
You not only fulfill the tasks set by the management, but are part of one large team of professionals united by common goals.
How did this company appear and how did it develop?
What kind of company do you represent in the near future?
Do you plan to expand production?
What goals does the company need to achieve?
Which of the set goals are closest to you?
Team
The colleagues you meet on a daily basis can have a big impact on your work. It is worth finding out if the team meets your expectations.
Team
Can I find out more about my future team?
With whom will I work especially closely?
Whose orders will I have to follow?
Who will be subordinate to me? What qualities do they have?
Are you going to hire new employees in the current period?
Which departments will be most often interacted with?
What career opportunities does this team offer?
Culture
Company culture is often of paramount importance in the course of a job search. Familiarize yourself with the corporate culture and decide how it suits you.
What culture is maintained in the company itself and in a separate team?
Are projects done individually or in groups?
What happened at the last group event?
What is the mission of the company and what is important to it? (This question should only be asked if the answer to it cannot be found on the Internet)
What traditions do you usually follow?
What do you like to do during lunch?
Do you hold social meetings outside of business hours?
Have you participated in any activities with other divisions or firms?
What do you find special about this job?
What has changed in the company while you have been working here?
Final stage
Finally, you should check that the recruiter has asked all the questions of interest to him. So you can get a guide to action and assess the possibility of employment.
Do you think I am qualified for this position?
What will you do next?
What will be required of me in the future?
Is there anything else you would like to ask?
Don’t forget that you also need to research the employer. Ask about what interests you. Focus not on wages and schedules, but on the structure of the organization itself, what it can offer employees, for what reason a vacancy has appeared. It is widely believed that this can cause a negative reaction.
In contrast, recruiters who ask interview questions complain that candidates don’t really care about anything and agree to everything. In fact, your questions indicate that you are determined to get a job and carefully analyze all the information, which already speaks in your favor.
We wish you a successful interview!

Many specialists, while looking for a job, are preparing to answer the questions of a potential employer, go through dozens of interviews, receive an offer, go to a new job and in a couple of days they understand that everything is not as rosy as they thought and they don’t want to work here.
The problem is that most do NOT ask questions to the prospective employer. But without asking just a couple of the right questions at the interview, you will choose the wrong company, spend a lot of time and again return to the search disappointed.
I compiled the 50 most important questions for a future employer that you must ask at an interview:
Salary
What is the salary and what does it consist of?
What amount of wages will be specified in the contract?
What specific KPIs do you use to evaluate work?
How often are wages paid?
How often are wages reviewed? What do I need to do?
Is there a processing fee?
Working conditions
What is the work schedule (how many days per week, how many hours per day)? Are there any processing and what are they connected with?
Is there a vacation and how is it paid? How long will it take for me to go on vacation? How is going on vacation organized (is it necessary to be constantly in touch? How is it decided who will replace me?).
How will I be registered in the company? Self-employment, individual entrepreneur, GPC, Labor Code of the Russian Federation or without registration.
Does the company offer VHI and other perks (free lunches, tea and cookies, corporate sports, English, free education, etc.)?
Do I need to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement)?
Probation and training
Will there be a probationary period?
How long is the trial period?
Is there a difference in wages during the probationary period?
What is the criterion for passing the probationary period?
How will my first day of work go?
Is there a full training? How long does it take?
Will I have a mentor for the first time?
Tasks and responsibilities
What exactly will I do in this position? What will be my responsibilities?
What makes up a typical working day?
What are my goals for the next six months or a year?
How often and in what form should I submit performance reports?
Who will be my direct manager?
Who will I work with on a daily basis?
How many people are on the team now? Is there an expansion planned?
What challenges will you face?
How many people will I report to (if you have a managerial position)?
Company and atmosphere
How long has the company been operating and how many employees does it have? Can you show the structure of the company?
What is the mission of the company?
What are the company’s plans for the next 3-5 years?
Does the company have a corporate culture? What are its main features?
How are decisions made in the company? The final word for the team or for the leadership?
Does the company have fines?
What is the staff turnover in the company? What are you doing to reduce it?
Why is it great to work for you and why should I go to you?
Is it possible to communicate with one of the current employees?
Prospects and development
What is the company’s growth rate? How often do promotions happen?
What are my career prospects in this position? Where to grow next?
How do you rate employees? What do you need to do to be successful?
Where and by whom do your former employees work? Is it possible to communicate with them?
What cool thing has the company done in the last six months?
Risk Assessment
Why did you open this position? Was there my predecessor and what happened to him? Is it possible to chat with him?

What are the TOP 3 most important skills for this position?
Why did you decide to join this company? To what extent were the expectations met?

Stories of serial killers
Based on real events
Lead Writers
WORLD BEST SELLER. KIRKUS REVIEW’S BEST TRUE CRIME AUTHOR OF ALL TIME.
Ted Bundy. “Charismatic killer” with a charming smile, “superstar” among maniacs. He has more than 30 proven murders on his account, although there is reason to believe that the real number exceeds a hundred. In the 1970s, Bundy was a national celebrity: broadcasts of his trials were watched all over America, and women confessed their love to him and spent the night outside the courtroom to take seats next to the most beautiful defendant.
How did it happen that a charming and successful law student, who was destined for a dizzying career, began to drive around in a car and lure young girls into it, mercilessly kill and dismember them? This book is a detailed chronicle of his life and his crimes, his double life and his overwhelming desire to kill. For years, the writer Ann Rule, unable to resist Bundy’s manipulative charms, kept in touch with him, wrote and visited him in prison, and came to the courts. The result of this friendship is a book that is considered “the best true-crime book of all time”, and the personality of Ted Bundy, unsolved and unsurpassed even after forty years, excites the minds of criminologists and continues to be a source of inspiration in popular culture.

Kavabanga Depo Kolibri – You are next to me lyrics
I’m next to you, apparently this is love
You are next to me, feelings of fire
I’m next to you, give me your palm
You’re next to me
I don’t know where you hid your heart
Flashed like fire, again your tears dripped
Well, why wait, I hear your torn phrases
I’m flying with flowers again, but I don’t know if I should
Who told you? I am not your enemy
If something is wrong – I’m sorry, I’m probably wrong
In this hair you are my soul
I realized that you are the only one I can breathe
You feel pain next to me
I’m next to you, apparently this is love
You are next to me, feelings of fire
I’m next to you, give me your palm
You feel pain next to me
I’m next to you, apparently this is love
You are next to me, feelings of fire
I am next to you, give me your palm
You are next to me
I understood everything, you are not enough for me
A couple of crazy people at the bar
True, this is normal
I scored on my rules
Even though it’s not right
In the eyes of our couple
But you love me – that’s the main thing
I want to keep your hands warm
If it’s a trap, how can I escape
I haven’t thought about it yet and I probably won’t0021
Bam-bam-bam-bam
Will drag you into the game in your
Even though I’m not ready for it
But you know
I can’t do it any other way
You feel pain next to me
I’m next to you, apparently this is love
You are next to me, feelings of fire
I’m next to you, give me your palm
You feel pain next to me
I’m next to you, apparently this is love
You are next to me, feelings of fire
I’m next to you, give me your palm

I would like to fully endorse keeping the YMCA as an option for before/after school care in our community. It is a well-known, well-respected non-profit that has supported this community for years. The YMCA was there for the community when COVID hit and kids had to complete remote learning; the Y supported and guided those students through their work and helped give those parents a sense of security through uncertain times.
– Leah R.
As a first-time parent, I was skeptical about having my son in daycare but the staff made it such an easy transition from being home with mom to being in a learning environment. Teachers and staff at the Rauner Family Y have created a safe environment where my son can learn and show his personality. I honestly could have not asked for a better daycare for my son. Thank you, YMCA for being a part of our family and being the community we need to help our little hands grow and be the future we need.

Chicago again? In Barnaul, a kindergarten, cars and balconies were fired from pneumatics

Frightening shelling of windows continues in Barnaul
The police are investigating new reports of shooting from pneumaticsPhoto: Oleg UKLADOV
Well, how can we not remember the criminal Chicago again. In Barnaul, cases of shooting at windows from pneumatics have become more frequent. Even kindergarten No. 270 on Pavlovsky Trakt, 235, fell into the shelling zone. The post appeared in the community “In the know 22”.
Kindergarten staff, whom we called, declined to comment to KP, remarking cautiously:
– Yes, the glass is indeed broken, but we can’t say for sure why. Maybe it was a stone, there is no crime, everything is in order, no one was hurt.
Picking up a child from a kindergarten, a man saw a trace of a shot from a pneumatic gun. Photo: Aleksey Gutnikov
In the meantime, we managed to talk to the parent of a child who attends this kindergarten.
– I was picking up a child from the kindergarten and, going up to the second floor, I saw a bullet hole in the glass, – Aleksey Gutnikov from Barnaul told KP, – the first glass was broken, the second – no, I realized that they were shooting from pneumatics at the window. I put the teacher up to date, she said that she would pass the information on to the head.
Aleksey believes that it is necessary to install a camera with night vision at the end of the garden, looking at the house opposite.
– If a person once shot at the garden, perhaps there will be more … And by the camera it will be possible to figure out who it is, – the man says.
There was another case. The window shattered by the shot was also seen by the residents of the new building in the area of the residential complex “Matryoshki”. According to the victims, the police officers who arrived at the scene found a bullet outside the window on the street, took pictures of everything and promised that they would sort it out.
The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that checks are being carried out on the facts of firing from pneumatics. Recall that before that, on May 10, on the Lentochny Bor highway, shots were fired from the forest into the windows of cars. After the shot in one of the cars, the window generally crumbled. Another motorist said that the bullet hit the side mirror, and could have bounced into the eye, the blow was very strong.
Airgun attacks on windows seem to be becoming regular, with shooters getting away with it. In December last year, a resident of Barnaul wrote a statement to the police due to the fact that an unknown person fired at her balcony.

Chicago Botanic Garden – description, photos, opening hours
Not far from Chicago, on the outskirts of Glencoe, is the Chicago Botanic Garden. It is necessary to come here to plunge into the world of contemplation and perfection, to renew your taste for life, for its natural beauty. The botanical garden includes 25 gardens as well as 4 natural habitats.
History of the Botanical Garden
In 1972, two enthusiasts John Symondson and Geoffrey Rausheny drew up a project to improve the wasteland. The complex is located on 156 hectares of land. It became not only a place for recreation, but also enriched its purpose over time: in 1976, the Joseph Regenstein Scientific and Educational Base was created on its territory, where thousands of students will subsequently study and train.
Over time, the area is filled with new plants, which form gardens: at 19In 1982, the Japanese Botanical Garden was opened by landscape designer Koichi Kawana, and in 1991, under the supervision of architect John Brooks, the English Garden.
Today the park is managed by the Chicago Horticultural Society. For its perfection and beauty in 2006, the Chicago Botanic Garden received the Award (Award of Garden Excellence) from the American Association of Public Gardens APGA.
It is advisable to plan a trip to the arboretum for the whole day, but if there are time constraints, we advise you to definitely take a look at the most interesting things in the Chicago Botanical Garden:
An English garden surrounded by a dense hedge of trees, the crowns of which are intricately pyramidal trimmed.
The Japanese Garden can only be admired from afar. Its island location and the absence of a bridge symbolically conveys the legend of Paradise, which remains a dream for us.
The heritage garden is a historical reminder of the Arboretum of Padua in Italy. Tourists are welcomed by a majestic statue – the prototype of the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus.
Therapy Garden – located on an area of about 1000 sq. meters and is designed in such a way that all the necessary materials for planting, adaptations, harvesting plants are available to the elderly and people with disabilities.
Garden and Vegetable Zone, in autumn will delight visitors with an exhibition of variously painted pumpkins.
In the Model Railroad Garden, you can find a train that goes through many miniature versions of American cities and landmarks. Thus, you can send on an express tour and see Washington, New Orleans, San Francisco, which are made of pine cones, tree bark and flowers.
Walk through the Garden of Aquatic Cultures, walk along the alleys of the Botanical Garden, look at the lily ponds.
Gardens and greenhouses of the park will spin in a round dance of colors and shapes. All sorts of fountains and lakes, whose waters overflow into the gardens of waterfalls, tune in to the musical mood. It is especially harmonious to listen to the sound of the bell tower located on the territory of the garden, or the unpretentious concerts of country bands on the terrace of the Regenstein Center, which take place in the evenings.
Depending on the season, the botanical garden organizes various festivals of seasonal compositions: in early spring – tulips and crocuses; in autumn – exhibitions of asters and orchids.
Infant Formula Preparation and Storage | Nutrition
Preparation
Use Quickly or Store Safely
Why are their different recommendations for preparing my baby’s powdered infant formula?
Carefully read and follow the instructions on the infant formula container. These steps will help you know how to prepare and store your infant’s formula correctly. Preparing your infant’s formula according to the instructions is important.
Here are additional pointers to keep in mind when preparing and storing your infant’s formula.
Download and print a handout on how to prepare and store powdered infant formula, available in English and Spanish.
Preparation
Use Quickly or Store Safely
Prepared infant formula can spoil if it is left out at room temperature.
Use prepared infant formula within 2 hours of preparation and within one hour from when feeding begins.
If you do not start to use the prepared infant formula within 2 hours, immediately store the bottle in the fridge and use it within 24 hours.
Throw out any infant formula that is left in the bottle after feeding your baby. The combination of infant formula and your baby’s saliva can cause bacteria to grow. Be sure to clean and sanitize the bottle before its next use.
Store unopened infant formula containers in a cool, dry, indoor place—not in vehicles, garages, or outdoors.
Once a container of infant formula is opened, store in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly closed. Do not store it in the refrigerator.
Most infant formulas need to be used within 1 month of opening the container (check the label). When you first open the container, write the date on the lid to help you remember.
Never use formula after the “Use By” date on the container.
Why are there different recommendations for preparing my baby’s powdered infant formula?
When preparing your baby’s powdered infant formula, it is important to know that recommendations can differ based on several factors including your baby’s age and the safety of the water.
How do I know which recommendations to follow?
There are different ways to safely prepare your baby’s powdered infant formula. See the guidance below to help you decide which is the safest option for your baby.
Most of the time, it’s safe to prepare powdered infant formula by mixing it with tap water (filtered or unfiltered) and following the manufacturer’s instructions on the container.
Learn step-by-step instructions on how to prepare and store powdered infant formula. [PDF-4.8MB]
Take extra steps to protect your baby from germs that could possibly make them sick if:
Your baby is younger than 2 months old, born prematurely, or has a weakened immune system.
Babies who are younger than 2 months old, born prematurely (before 37 weeks of pregnancy), or have a weakened immune system could get very sick if they drink formula that is contaminated with bacteria, such as Cronobacter. These bacteria can live in the environment or in dry foods like powdered infant formula. Cronobacter infections are rare but serious in infants.
To kill germs like Cronobacter in powdered infant formula, the formula must be mixed with very hot water. Boil the water and then wait about 5 minutes before mixing with powdered infant formula. After mixing, the formula will be too hot to feed your baby, so it’s important to wait for the formula to cool first so you don’t burn your baby’s mouth.
Learn about how you can protect your baby from Cronobacter infection when preparing powdered infant formula [PDF-2.1MB].
Take extra steps to protect your baby from germs that could possibly make them sick if:
There is an emergency and your water might not be safe to mix with powdered infant formula.*
When there is an emergency such as a water main break, hurricane, or flood, your tap water for mixing your baby’s powdered infant formula may not be available or safe to use.
If you believe the tap water is unsafe, use bottled water to prepare formula until local authorities say the tap water is safe to drink. If tap water is your only option you can make tap water safe by boiling or disinfecting it [PDF-714KB]. If you choose to boil your water, let the water cool to room temperature before mixing it with powdered infant formula. Always test the temperature before feeding your baby by putting a few drops of formula on your wrist so you do not burn your baby’s mouth.
CDC provides step-by-step instructions on how to prepare and store powdered infant formula during emergencies [PDF-639KB] and how to clean infant feeding items (like bottles and nipples) during emergencies [PDF-953KB].
*If there is an emergency AND your baby is younger than 2 months old, born prematurely, or has a weakened immune system, follow the instructions above for preventing Cronobacter.
Leftover Formula – Is It Safe To Drink After Being Left Out?
If you use formula to feed your baby, there are several questions you might be asking – such as:
How do I make up the formula? How much formula should I give my baby, and how often? and Which formula should I use?
When you’ve made up the formula and your baby has been fed, you might be wondering what to do if he doesn’t want to drink it all right away?
Some parents aren’t sure whether or not it’s safe to feed left-over formula to their baby later on, when the baby is hungry again.
Is this safe to do or not?
This article will help answer this question, and provide you with important information to help keep your baby safe.
You Only Have A Short Period Of Time To Give Your Baby Leftover Formula
According to Australia’s leading health organisation, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), “A feed should take no longer than one hour – any formula that has been at room temperature for longer than one hour should be discarded”.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has formula-feeding guidelines. They indicate that you should “Throw away any left-over feed after two hours”.
Similarly, UK guidelines for formula-feeding indicate: “Infant formula that has not been used and has been kept at room temperature must be thrown away within two hours”.
Harmful Bacteria Can Multiply Quickly In Made-Up Formula
Harmful bacteria can multiply quickly in made-up formula.
Even if the formula is kept in the fridge, bacteria can still live – and also multiply, although more slowly.
The longer the formula is stored, especially outside the fridge, the greater the risk of infection.
It’s important, therefore, to make up a fresh batch of formula every time your baby needs it.
The NHMRC guidelines indicate that any left-over formula should be discarded within one hour and the WHO and UK guidelines indicate two hours.
Why do they give different times?
It comes down to the different recommendations they make about the temperature of the water used to make up the formula.
Different Organisations Recommend Different Water Temperatures
Powdered infant formula is NOT a sterile product.
The WHO and UK formula feeding guidelines indicate the water used to reconstitute powdered infant formula should be at least 70 degrees Celsius (yes, 70C).
They recommend this temperature to kill any harmful bacteria in the formula.
Because the formula has been prepared in this way, these organisations suggest that left-over formula be discarded within two hours.
The NHMRC recommends using ‘cool boiled water’ to reconstitute powdered infant formula.
This water temperature might not kill off harmful bacteria which could be in the formula.
Therefore the guidelines suggest discarding any left-over formula within one hour.
All these organisations indicate that if there’s no choice, and a formula feed has to be stored, then it can be made up and stored in the coldest part of the fridge, for up to 24 hours. Any formula not used within 24 hours in such a situation must be discarded.
It’s important you have the information you need to help keep your baby safe.

Why it is forbidden to store formula for a long time
Artificial formula for children has become commonplace. Young mothers very often face the impossibility of breastfeeding or insufficient breast milk. Many, on the contrary, for their convenience, immediately switch to artificial feeding.
Proper storage and preparation ensures safety for the baby, so you should strictly adhere to the conditions and recommendations from the manufacturers.
Powdered formula storage
The baby food list is constantly growing. But to choose a particular mixture, you should first consult with a specialist in artificial feeding or a pediatrician.
Most moms use trial and error to find the right formula. The choice may take a long time. After all, not all mixtures are suitable: the baby may be dissatisfied with the taste, or, even worse, an allergy to one or another component of baby food will appear. But what if the mixture does not fit? Can the mixture be stored in the refrigerator?
Dry baby food should not be stored at sub-zero temperatures, a dry and cool place should be chosen.
Shelf life unopened 18-24 months, but after opening the mixture can only be stored for 3-4 weeks.
After the experiments and the choice made, you should study the rules for storing, preparing and using the ready-made diluted mixture.
The mixture can be stored for several years in unopened containers. Lead times vary by manufacturer. For example:
18 months can be stored – Malyutka, HiPP, Nutrilon Comfort, NAN OPTIPRO, Nutrilak.
The optimum temperature for storing any of these mixtures is from 0 to 25 degrees, with humidity up to 75%.
Instructions for Preparing Baby Formula
Each package of baby food has instructions on how to prepare the formula and how long to keep the reconstituted formula. There are also general rules for all species – be it Baby or NAN:
The first step is to wash your hands and sterilize (boil in a saucepan or pour boiling water over) the feeding bottle.
Cool boiled water to 36°C-37°C (special thermometers are available to determine the temperature).
Dilute a certain amount of water and powder in a bottle (the proportions are indicated in the instructions).
Shake the mixture well until the powder is completely dissolved. The main thing is that there are no lumps left.
Check the temperature of the finished formula before you start feeding your baby. You can use a thermometer or put a small amount of liquid on your wrist or elbow. If it is cold or hot, you should warm the mixture by dipping the bottle in hot water, and, accordingly, cool it in cold water.
How long can the reconstituted formula be stored?
It happens when the baby does not eat all the prepared baby food. How long can the mixture be stored after dilution in a bottle in the room?
There are several conditions under which the prepared mixture can be used later:
At room temperature (max. 20°C) it can be stored for up to 90 minutes. At a temperature that exceeds 20 degrees – 30 minutes.
Unused formula can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. If the child has taken at least a couple of sips from the bottle, it is better not to put such a mixture in the refrigerator, because when feeding saliva gets into the bottle, and bacteria with saliva.
Several sterile containers can be used for each serving and kept in the refrigerator.
After diluting the powder with water, it is undesirable to keep the mixture in the freezer, in such conditions the nutritional properties are lost. There will be no benefit from such food.
Please note! It is advisable to dilute the mixture before feeding itself. After all, the health and safety of the baby comes first.
What can be done with an expired product? You can not use formula with an expired expiration date in feeding a child. You can use baby food powder in cooking. For example, make a cake, bake pancakes, cook porridge or add to a milkshake.
Out of home
When going on a long trip or travel, it is necessary to prepare baby food for a long time. Outside the home, you can save the benefits of the mixture in several ways:
Using a cooler bag. How long is the finished mixture stored in such conditions? No more than 24 hours.
Thermos. Perhaps this is the safest and most practical way. Pour boiled warm water into the container, and keep the dry mixture in the bottle. If necessary, mix the powder and water.
To visit the hospital for a couple of hours, you can purchase a special container that will keep the mixture at the required temperature for 5 hours.
Mixture container
Mixture should only be kept in a pre-sterilized bottle, you can also pour boiling water over it.
It is strictly forbidden to use other dishes or pour from one container to another – pathogenic microflora can get in. Be sure to close the nipple with a cap to prevent dust and bacteria from entering the bottle.
Additional information! Heating the finished mixture in the microwave is not recommended. The appliance may heat baby food unevenly. If the temperature rises beyond what is necessary, then protein can form, and some useful substances will lose their properties. The recommended method for warming the formula bottle is a water bath.
How to keep the mixture in summer
How long can the diluted mixture be stored at high temperatures? In hot weather, the mixture can be stored diluted for only 30 minutes. Use after prolonged storage can bring consequences in the form of poisoning, diarrhea and colic.
At temperatures above 20 °C, it is best to keep the baby bottle on the refrigerator shelf and never on the refrigerator door. After all, when opening, there is a sharp temperature drop.
Why it is forbidden to store the mixture for a long time
The composition of adapted mixtures contains many trace elements, amino acids and vitamins for the development of the baby.
Why can’t the formula be stored for more than 3 weeks? Packed in a vacuum environment. After its discovery, the substances contained in baby food begin to interact with oxygen and change their chemical and physical properties. Therefore, after the package with the mixture is opened, it should not be used for more than 20 days.
Tips for storing undiluted (dry) baby food:
Formula should only be used according to the expiration date.
After opening the package, do not use food for more than 20 days.
Keep the mixture in a dry and cool place in a container with an airtight lid. Do not keep food in the refrigerator and near heating appliances.
Do not store dry mix next to cereals, otherwise insects may get into the package.
The mixing spoon must always be kept clean and dry. If moisture enters, the powder may deteriorate.
One of the most important recommendations is to prepare the mixture just before feeding.
Breast milk is the best food for babies. But unfortunately, not all young mothers have the opportunity to breastfeed, so a special baby food was made – a mixture. For inexperienced moms, preparing and storing ready-made formula can be a daunting process. Every mother who feeds her child with artificial milk formula should know how to cook and how long the diluted mixture can be stored, because a spoiled product can harm the health of the crumbs.
The prepared product can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, provided that the baby has not eaten from this bottle. The finished mixture at room temperature (up to 20 ° C) can be kept for no more than 1. 5 hours, if the temperature exceeds 20 degrees – only for half an hour.
It should be remembered that the baby must be given a freshly prepared portion of the mixture, in order to avoid stress on the gastrointestinal tract and poisoning, because if stored improperly, pathogenic bacteria develop in the liquid.
How long infant formula is stored, how to store infant formula

When transferring a baby to artificial feeding, it is important not only to choose the right formula, but also to answer the question: what should I know about the preparation and storage of infant formula? If the formula is not prepared and stored properly, the baby is more susceptible to bacteria and the risk of getting sick. Therefore, first read the simple rules for using infant formula.
Powdered infant formula storage advice
Although preparing formula for your baby is a relatively simple task, it is important to keep a number of safety recommendations in mind to avoid potential problems. Proper storage largely determines the quality and freshness and, as a result, normal digestion and well-being of the child.
When purchasing infant formula from a store, check that the packaging is not dented or damaged. If it is not sealed, the mixture may not be safe. If the product is sold in cans, check for scratches or rust.
Store dry mixes according to the expiration date label on the package. Do not use expired baby food.
Unopened packages of formula should be stored in the same way as powdered milk, in a dark, cool, dry place and used by the date printed on the package. For storage, a refrigerator or cabinet near the stove or sink is not suitable.
Opened dry mix packs should be used within three weeks of opening and also stored in a dry, cool and dark place with the lid tightly closed. As a reminder, write on the package the date you opened it.
Do not transfer the mixture to another jar or container, as the packaging in which it is sold has certain storage properties.
In addition to the formula itself, the correct storage of all the accessories necessary for its preparation (bottles, nipples, spoons, towels) is of great importance. Take a special container for them or store them in a sterilizer.
Remember to dilute the mixture only with clean, dry hands. The surface of the table on which you will cook must be cleaned and disinfected. Otherwise, pathogenic microorganisms can get into dry food, for which it serves as a favorable environment for development and reproduction.
Storing ready-made formula
Even more care must be taken when storing ready-made formula. Baby food is high in protein and fat, so a warm, nutritious drink can quickly breed bacteria that can harm a baby’s gut. We recommend that you always feed your babies freshly prepared formula*.
Period of use. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for preparing and storing baby food.
“If you haven’t used formula within 2 hours of preparation and it has been stored at room temperature, you should not feed it to your baby. In exceptional cases, if you need to prepare formula in advance, use a small sterilized bottle with an airtight lid. After cooling quickly, the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator, preferably at the back wall, not on the door, at a temperature not exceeding 5 ° C for up to 24 hours. This method of storage is allowed if the child has not yet eaten from this bottle. Freezing infant formula is not recommended. If the child has eaten a little, and the mixture is still left, you should not store it – it becomes potentially dangerous for the baby. Be sure to rinse and sanitize the bottle well before next use.”

Warming up. Pre-mixed infant formula must be warmed up before feeding the baby. You can heat the mixture only once. This can be done in a water bath. Children’s doctors do not recommend heating formula in the microwave**. You can use the microwave to heat water, which you can put a bottle of formula in, but not to heat milk. Modern infant formulas contain ingredients close to the composition of natural breast milk. The radiation kills living components such as immunoglobulins in the mixture, turning nutritious food into a worthless substance. Microwave ovens are also not recommended because they heat unevenly and you can unconsciously burn your baby’s mouth while feeding. Before feeding, check the temperature of the formula by applying a drop to the inside of your wrist. If this is body temperature, then you will not burn your baby’s mouth when feeding. Also, taste the mixture: due to long storage, it may turn sour.
Feeding out of the home
As mentioned earlier, it is best to prepare fresh formula immediately before feeding, but there are situations when you are away from home and it is already time to feed. Natural questions arise: how to be on the road, in the clinic, on a long walk? What to do if you know that the baby wants to eat out? For such situations, there are several ways to feed your baby.
Option 1. The most reliable option is to take a sterile bottle with enough formula poured into it in an amount sufficient for one feeding, and a thermos with warm water. When it’s time to feed, dilute the formula by adding water to the formula bottle. The optimum temperature at which water should be stored is 70°C or higher to kill any bacteria. Make sure you carry your sterilized bottles in a sterile container. You can also use pre-sterilized disposable bottles. Always check the temperature of the reconstituted formula before feeding, even if the water has been in the thermos for several hours. If the mixture is too hot, cool it down with cold water, being careful not to get water on the nipple.
Option 2. In special circumstances, when you need to feed your baby in a place where there are a lot of bacteria around, you may not decide to prepare formula there.
Admission to Kidsville Childcare and Development Facility is open to all children aged six weeks to twelve years, regardless of race, gender, color, religion, political persuasion, national origin, handicap, ancestry, or sexual orientation.
Child Care Enrollment Step 1: Check Availability
If you are interested in enrolling your child at Kidsville, please check to see which openings are available. Due to our small group size we do not experience the high turnover of group centers so we can’t guarantee there will be openings. If there are no openings available, please add your name to our waiting list.
Child Care Enrollment Step 2: Interview and Tour 📷
We highly recommend that parents visit any center they are considering prior to enrolling. It’s almost impossible to tell if a program is right for your child without seeing it in person. Contact us to schedule an interview and tour of our facility. During the interview you will receive an enrollment application, print copy of our policies, and materials to help you choose the program that is right for you. Feel free to bring your child with you so he or she can meet the other children and see what fun things there are to do here. Be sure to allow around 30 minutes so we have adequate time to discuss your child’s specific needs, our program policies, and to address all of your questions.
Child Care Enrollment Step 3: Enrollment Application
To secure your spot, please pay the $25 enrollment fee. After receiving the application and enrollment fee we will send you confirmation of your child’s enrollment and enrollment packet. Once you receive the packet, please take time to complete each of the forms and to become familiar with our policies before your child’s first day of attendance.
Child Care Enrollment Forms
The enrollment forms must be completed, signed and dated. No child can be accepted for care without the proper forms on file.
Child Care Disenrollment Policy
At some point it will be time for your child to move from our care to school or another situation. The Parent/Provider Contract may be terminated by either Kidsville or by the parent. Two weeks’ notice must be given in writing when the parent terminates child care services. Regular tuition payments are due during this time whether the child is brought for care or not. Kidsville may terminate a child’s enrollment effective immediately for the following reasons: failure to pay tuition and/or fees on time, lack of parental cooperation, inability to meet the needs of the child, failure to pick up the child on time, failure to complete and return required forms, verbal or physical abuse or threat by a parent or other person transporting a child, a child’s behavior which threatens the well-being of any person at Kidsville, or for any other reason as deemed necessary by Kidsville. When notice of termination is given by the parent or by the center all outstanding bills must be paid; regardless of which party terminates services. If the parent does not give a written two-week notice, tuition for the two weeks following the child’s last day of attendance, Kidsville Childcare and Development has the right to bill for that time period enrolled.
OUR PROGRAM
Children will thrive in our play-based program! From infancy through the “tween” years we celebrate children’s individuality, nurture their healthy development, and prepare them for success in life.
Infants and Toddlers develop secure attachments and trust through individualized care, predictable routines, and sensitive caregiving. Preschoolers enjoy lots of time for exploration, hands-on activities, as well as plenty of time to learn at their own pace. School-age children (Kindergarten and up) receive opportunities to develop independence, and a wide variety of age-appropriate activities to choose from.
Our daily schedule is flexible, yet carefully designed to promote your child’s development and creativity through a balance of educational, stimulating and fun activities. Following a daily schedule helps children feel secure because they can depend on a consistent routine and predict the events of each day. The daily schedule also helps you understand how your child spends his or her day. Each day is mostly child-directed; not guided by the clock.
Daily Schedules Provide Routine
Children need consistency in their daily routines. An appropriately structured routine can help reinforce positive behaviors in children and minimize negative behaviors. Young children, especially, have problems dealing with disruptions and disorganization throughout the day. When children cannot depend upon a routine or a routine is changed often, their behavior tends to reflect the routine – chaotic and inconsistent. Our daily child care schedule provides routine and structure for children so that they know basically what to expect from day to day.
Our Child Care Daily Schedule is Flexible
Our daily schedule provides a basic framework for our days, but is not rigid. Rigidity in a schedule offers its own set of problems. When an activity is especially engrossing or demands a few additional minutes, it is beneficial to adjust the schedule to accommodate the activity. Problems can result when children are regularly asked to stop engrossing work to engage in something less meaningful. This can promote negative or destructive behavior in the child. The child care schedule may vary on a daily basis because it is based on the children’s interests and needs. We also vary the schedule according to the weather and the season; spending more time outside when it’s nice out and more time inside when it’s cold.
Play-Based Child Care Daily Schedule
Young children are naturally curious and learn best by exploring and discovering for themselves through play. Play is essential for all children’s well-being and development. New concepts, improved skills and enhanced comprehension come to children through play. Children’s senses help them to experience the world around them, and their imaginations take them anywhere they want to go. While playing, children learn to originate and organize ideas, become more flexible in problem solving, and develop longer attention spans. During play children learn to communicate their thoughts, feelings, ideas and needs to others. Our daily child care schedule gives ample time for play and provides a variety of educational materials and experiences for the children to choose from.

SPARK – First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City
About Us
SPARK began in 1984 as a tutoring and enrichment program for neighborhood children provided by volunteers of First Presbyterian Church.
Today, SPARK is a state-licensed, out-of-school-time program for school-age children and a 2-star child care center through Oklahoma’s Reaching for the Stars. We think school-age kids are the best. We work solely with kids in pre-K–6th grade and have a staff of wonderful and well-trained individuals who think kids are pretty neat too.
We’ve stuck to our roots and still offer tutoring and enrichment activities for neighborhood children, but also offer child care before school, after school, and all day during school breaks! Our program provides a safe, encouraging, and loving atmosphere where children can explore, experiment, create, and play!
SPARK contracts through DHS for families who qualify for child care assistance through the state. We contract through the Caddo Nation for Indigenous families who qualify for child care assistance through the Nation. We also provide care for families interested in paying out of pocket.
Space is limited and spots fill up quickly. Call us today for more information about our program! We would love to hear from you.

Tuition: Before School – $40/week After School – $100/week

SPARK provides transportation to the following schools: Eugene Field, Wilson, Cleveland, and Classen SAS Middle School. We can add more schools by request.
Does your child need to go to school later than you need to be at work? Does the car line at your child’s school put you behind schedule? Let SPARK help you in the mornings!
SPARK provides a safe place for children to play before school! We offer breakfast each morning, and a safe ride to school where children arrive on time ready to learn.
After School: 1:00–6:00 p.m.
SPARK provides transportation from the following schools: PK Center at Horace Mann, Bishop John Carroll, Eugene Field, Wilson, John Rex Middle School, John Rex Elementary, PK Center at Gatewood, Cleveland, and Classen SAS Middle School.
Do you need a safe and inviting place for your child to go after school while you finish up your workday? Let SPARK help you with that!
Every day at SPARK children get to burn some energy after a long day at school either on the playground or in the rec room, depending on the weather. Children get a nutritious snack, help with homework, and get to participate in an enrichment activity with other children their own age! Children also get lots of chances to make choices, problem solve, and play freely in their classroom’s centers and learning areas.
Each week children get to try new things in art, science, tutoring, seasonal crafts, language and literacy, and group activities.

SPARK is a great place to volunteer! If you are looking for a place to get plugged in, we hope you will consider volunteering with us.
We are looking for volunteers to help in various areas of service:
Tutoring
Are you interested in investing in a group of children by working with students on subjects like math, reading, and spelling? Each week our children meet with a tutor either one-on-one or in small groups. Tutoring is a rewarding opportunity for both children and the tutors. Tutoring takes place every Wednesday from 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Enrichment Activities
We are always looking for volunteers who can teach our kiddos something new! Are you a musician? Do you write poetry? Are you a basketball player, a painter, or perhaps an excellent cook? Then you are exactly who we are looking for! Your talents, whatever they may be, can be used to help a child spark an interest in new hobbies and skills. Enrichment activities can be scheduled year-round during after school hours Monday through Friday 4:00-6:00 p.m or on days when children are with us all day—school breaks, various holidays, parent teacher conference days, professional development days, and virtual learning days.
Substitute Teacher
Sometimes our teachers need the day off for various reasons and we need reliable people who can fill their spot on short notice to reduce the need to disrupt our students and their families. Substitutes are expected to be able to take charge of a group of no more than 15 children in different age groups (PK, K & 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 4th & up) while they play in their classroom. If you are interested in being on SPARK’s substitute list, you will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check.
Substitute Van Driver
Every day SPARK transports children to and from school. If you are interested in volunteering your time to help with transporting children either on a regular basis or on an emergency basis, we could use your help! If you are interested in being a van driver for SPARK, you will be required to have a valid Oklahoma drivers license, be at least 21 years of age, and pass a fingerprint-based background check.
Our primary goal for volunteers is to build positive relationships with positive role models that the children can look up to and learn from. Our students feel very special when tutors and volunteers come to see them, and you will leave feeling special too.

Grand Prix of the contest “I’m a child” was taken by pupils of kindergarten No. 23
The second city talent contest “I’m a child” was held in the Public and Cultural Center of Blagoveshchensk. The gala concert dedicated to Mother’s Day was attended by 14 finalist kindergartens. Very young artists aged from 3 to 6 years plucked a flurry of applause in the hall. The competitive “menu” included a video presentation of each preschool institution, dance numbers, songs, poems read by the kids with such a feeling that tears welled up.
Beethoven on metallophones
The jury, all week before the competition, selected the brightest performances from those presented by 32 kindergarten participants, immediately noted before the start of the gala concert: all contestants deserve victory, it will be very difficult to choose the best. More than a hundred Blagoveshchensk children presented their talents on the OKC stage. Some kindergartens demonstrated the talents of their pupils in three categories at once: vocal, choreography and expressive reading.
The number that captivated both the judges and the audience with its originality was Beethoven’s composition “Fur Elise” performed on metallophones and triangles. It was talentedly played on these unpretentious musical instruments by kids from the 23rd kindergarten. Entering the stage in white and pale green outfits, the children took sticks in their hands with a serious look and began to perform the composition. Girls from the same kindergarten showed another unusual number, which caused a storm of applause in the hall: the dance of the gymnasts. Coming out in red and black outfits, they enchanted the hall with their “fiery” ribbons. From the performance, which turned out to be really hot, it was impossible to take your eyes off. As a result, it was the 23rd kindergarten that won the Grand Prix of the “I’m a Child” contest. As a gift, the preschool received a synthesizer from the OKC.
Sponges with a bow
In addition, there were a lot of bright and talented mini-performances. The hall was conquered by little gypsies from kindergarten No. 44, which belongs to the progymnasium. Girls with large burgundy bows on their heads, expressively fluttering their fluffy gypsy skirts in the dance, eventually won a second degree diploma in the Choreography nomination. The audience also liked the very first number of the concert, when little gnomes in red caps and white beards appeared on the stage and began to sing a cheerful song about these fairy-tale heroes. It was the vocal group “Solovushki” from kindergarten No. 60. And the guys from kindergarten No. 10 came out in Russian folk costumes and performed a dance with balalaikas, eventually taking a first degree diploma.
What kind of heroes did not appear before the audience during the concert: fly agaric in red hats with white polka dots danced on the stage, kids danced and sang with umbrellas, gymnastic hoops, in large wreaths of autumn leaves, in sun suits. And the kids from the kindergarten of the gymnasium made dad a participant in the number. He came out in a bright yellow shirt with his daughter sitting on his neck. The kids jokingly drove their ruddy and cheerful dad like a horse, singing: “Dad, dad, my beloved dad, there is no better horse in the world than I have!” Later, the jury assessed the imagination of young artists and awarded them a diploma of the second degree. Meanwhile, the dance called “Sponges with a bow”, performed to the song of Christina Orbakaite, caused a wave of tenderness and good laughter in the hall every time little girls and boys sent air kisses and made “lips with a bow”. It is this number, presented by kindergarten
No. 50, won a special prize for originality. By the way, many preschoolers had their own support groups among the audience stocked with posters, chants, balloons and flowers.
Gift songs
Special mention should be made of the little ones who performed alone on the stage. There were few little singers who performed solo vocal numbers and readers who demonstrated the ability to expressively recite poetry. The girl Sonya performed a very artistic verse about her mother, fervently sang the Russian folk song “Stomp, my leg!” 4-year-old Katya, “well done” was shouted from the hall to Ilya, who recited the verse “Red Dog”.
It is interesting that a certificate for 3-month training at the children’s song theater “OKCent” was made an award for young soloists. Its leader Marina Borovik, one of the judges of the competition, noted that her task is to choose a star for her team. As a result, Vika, a girl from Kindergarten No. 56, received an unusual prize. And the ensemble of vocalists from Kindergarten No. 8 was presented with a certificate for five hours of work in the recording studio of the Public and Cultural Center.
Before the main award ceremony, all the young artists and their leaders took to the stage with shining eyes and happy smiles on their faces. The concert dedicated to Mother’s Day was a success. The jury honestly admitted that it was very difficult to determine which Annunciation kindergarten was better. All presented worthy, interesting and varied performances. By the way, despite the fact that there were winners and losers, without exception, all the kid artists were given educational games, and their leaders were given flash drives with popular children’s songs.
