World’s tallest sandcastle
Photo reports
In the German city of Duisburg, the highest sand castle in the world appeared – about 16.7 meters – on September 1, the Guinness Book of Records Commission recognized the record, reports Deutsche Welle . The previous record holder from the Indian city of Puri was 1.8 meters shorter. Sculptors of 10 nationalities worked on the castle in Germany, so you can see architectural elements and sights from all over the world on it.
Construction took about three weeks and required about 3.5 thousand tons of sand, the castle will stay in Duisburg until the end of September. Last year, the record could not be set – the castle fell apart, because the conditions do not allow using anything other than water and sand for construction. What the tallest sand castle in the world looks like is in the Gazeta.Ru photo gallery.

Not just RocketMan YouTube is famous for video blogging. And besides him, there are many more interesting, useful and skillful video bloggers specializing in cinema, music and other arts, and often with a bias in the same science fiction we love. And that’s why I also slowly download their videos to my screws, making up a small video collection, which may suddenly come in handy if YouTube is indeed completely blocked from us. Well, for example, one of these YouTubers, who for several years has been rather sarcastically, but at the same time very professionally reviewing modern cinema and hiding under the pseudonym GreenGrass – that is, “Green Grass” . Currently, my collection of videos created by him (and there are already 234 of them – however, I have not downloaded everything yet) looks exactly like this – this is a direct copy-paste from my catalog (and I highly recommend this GreenGrass to everyone who is interested in cinema – link below):

The Black Mirror writer is working on a series based on David Cronenberg’s Scanners for HBO.

It is not specified whether there will be their own version of the same scene with the exploding head.
The series, based on the 1981 cult science fiction thriller, has been in the works for about five years, but the cable network has only now given the green light to the project.
The original film was about a group of people with telepathic abilities, scanners, who are trying to stop a military corporation by hiring other telepaths.
Judging by the description of the upcoming series, it will not be a remake, but an independent story in the same universe. He will talk about two women who are pursued by “agents with incredible powers.” The heroines have to unite to uncover a major conspiracy.
Original Scanners director David Cronenberg, also known for The Fly and Existence, will executive produce the HBO project. The lead writer and showrunner will be William Bridges, who previously worked on stories for two episodes of Black Mirror (Shut Up and Dance and USS Callister) and AMC’s Soul Mates. The director will be Yann Demange (“The Ringleader”, “Lovecraft Country”).

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
— Elaina T.
“I absolutely love New Hope Preschool! I have trusted them to see three of my children through the memorable, enchanting preschool years so far and I can’t wait to send them my fourth and final baby when the time comes! My children and I have formed caring relationships with the teachers there and it’s such a joy to get to repeat history with each one of my children who enter their classes! They have warmly and patiently seen my family through difficult times such as unexpected deployments and separation anxiety issues, which gave me such comfort as a mother to know I had such supportive players on my team! Above all, I Iove how sweetly and creatively they conduct their days, always doing fun and special activities with the kids and keeping childhood full of wonder and play! We will always look back on our time at New Hope Preschool with great fondness and we are so thankful we found this gem when we did!”

Tips for Protecting Children from Environmental Threats
Having established itself on the market as a developer of software solutions for telecommunications operators, the international company Protek decided to radically change its strategy. Protek will now focus on regional support and customer service in developing its business. At the same time, Protek assigns a special role to Russia as a center for global technical support of its products around the world.
To this end, Protek restructured its business by acquiring ownership of the Business and Operations Support Systems (OSS/BSS) sector previously owned by multinational securities corporation Warburg Pincus. The Board of Directors, along with the CEO and Chairman of the Board, now includes heads of regional divisions.
Protek CEO Paul Beaumont sees the challenge of strengthening Protek’s position by investing in regional support and services as one of the most important now. According to him, Protek is currently investing more than $80 million in the development and launch of products.
At the beginning of 2004 the company intends to launch on the market a comprehensive solution – Nexoss, designed to support the life of telecommunications enterprises. It will combine the existing Protek developments – U-OSS and CC&B (Customer Care and Billing) into a single integrated system. As conceived by the developers, Nexoss will contribute to the growth of competitiveness and the fastest return on investment. Most participants in the business and operations support systems market say that the future belongs to such software developments. “So far, there are few such solutions on the Russian market, so Protek is now in a very favorable position,” the head of one of the software companies told a ComNews.ru reporter.
Protek’s General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe Barbara Kalinowska says that the company has a special role to play in the implementation of the new strategy for Russia. “This is where our main R&D and manufacturing resources are concentrated with our regional headquarters in Moscow (83% of product development specialists work in the Russian office). We are going to increase the R&D base to develop and improve our products and solutions in Russia. Going forward , along with technical support for business and operations systems, the company’s specialists will provide global support for the integrated system from the Moscow center,” said Barbara Kalinowska.

“Milady Beaumont claims to have beaten Philidor more than once,” Villiers reported.
“In fairness, I must add that Philidor has defeated me more than once,” Gemma replied.
— You must have perfected your art? said Beaumont, raising his eyebrows.
Gemma’s chest burned with memories. Her husband played with her only a few times, shortly after the wedding. How could he know whether she had perfected her art or not?
She didn’t answer.
Villiers’ gaze enveloped her in sweet honey.
— So we agreed on a match? he asked, snapping the cigar aside as it flashed like a bright spark through the night air and landed on the gravel path. Elijah watched her go. He himself would never have done such a thing. Why bother the servants or, God forbid, start a fire?!
“Of course,” Gemma nodded. – One move a day? Of course, the match will last longer, but more fun. Three parties.
– Shall we play the last blind?
Gemma smiled involuntarily.
She played blind with herself, but it’s better to have a real opponent!
Villiers bowed with casual grace. Gemma remarked that his camisole was as elegant as those worn by the most famous Parisian dandies.
Elijah was all in black.
As Villiers walked away, Gemma noticed that his hair was tied at the back of his head with a poppy scarlet ribbon, which looked provocative against the dark silk of his hair. He must have been a trendsetter in his own fashion: even the Parisians used only dark ribbons.
— Where will you play chess with him? Elijah inquired, and although his voice was impassive, his eyes burned with rage.
Gemma mentally shrugged her shoulders. Elijah succumbs too easily to anger.
– I guess it’s where I played with Philidor.
— And where is it, may I ask?
— In my bedroom.
It gave her some pleasure to see how his face was distorted.
— What is the prize?
She shrugged again, really this time, with lazy grace. However, it is not clear why she should work? You can’t get your husband to do this anyway.
— Is the prize obligatory? she said, stepping towards the door. But he blocked her path. Over the past few years, it has become much more massive. When she left England, he had thin legs and broad shoulders. But now he has become a real man.
Gemma pushed these irrelevant thoughts out of her mind in annoyance.
— I assume you are the prize? he inquired ingratiatingly.
— Has not been and never will be a prize for men! she snapped, looking directly into his eyes and hoping he understood. – Rather, a free gift for those whom I prefer myself.
— Too much use devalues the gift.
— God! Gemma exclaimed. “I think I’ve heard this before!” Yes, that is right! In the church! How strange to hear quotations from the catechism in the mouth of a politician! Perhaps you made a mistake in your calling?
“If you’re going to play chess with him…” Beaumont muttered, but stopped short.
Gemma, who had already managed to squeeze past her husband, stopped and slowly turned around:
— Are you going to play with me just because I agreed on a match with Villiers?! Are you kidding, of course?
— Why shouldn’t a husband play a game with his wife? His lips pressed into a hard, thin line.
– I don’t see anything special in this fact.
– And we will play under the same conditions? she laughed. – One move a day for each? Three game match? Do we play the latter blindly, if we play at all?
The Duke shrugged.
– But, as far as I know, you have been sitting at the chess table for many years! In my opinion, it is dangerous to rely on a long-forgotten skill…” she continued.
— Do we place bets? You said it yourself: no prize.
Gemma bit her tongue. It is not necessary to explain that she plays with Villiers out of a desire to take revenge on the latter.
“You will have to be nicer to me,” she pointed out, “and come home every day. As far as I know, you often spend the night in your Westminster chambers.
She didn’t mention that she knew everything. And that he does not spend these nights alone.
But the duke shrugged again. Of course, a man in his thirties is not as energetic as a man in his early twenties. On the day when she found him lying on the writing table with his mistress, he had only a few hours ago risen from the matrimonial bed. How unpleasant it is to realize that the memory of this still compresses the heart with pain.
— I will play with you! said Gemma over her shoulder. But I’ll give you a head start.
“I don’t need it,” he replied calmly. The memory of that day burned like a hot coal somewhere under her collarbone, so she smiled at her husband:
– “Just to make our match more interesting.” The duke’s cheekbones flushed a little, a sure sign of rage. But over the years, he learned to control himself.
“No,” he repeated in the same low voice. – No odds. Remember when you played for me, I often won. I will allow myself to hope that in reality I will be able to become a worthy adversary.
Gemma curtseyed low before him:
— Of course, Your Grace. Shall we start tomorrow?
– Tomorrow is an important vote in the House of Lords. But I think Villiers will not waste time and will visit you in the morning?
— Gentlemen seldom miss this opportunity when I let them into my bedroom.
Beaumont bowed:
— So tomorrow.
Chapter 11
The news spread through the ballroom like wildfire. The Duchess of Beaumont participates in two chess matches at once: one with the Duke of Villiers, her husband’s enemy, the other with her own husband.
“They say,” May said at one in the morning, “that she is an excellent chess player.
“Perhaps it is,” Charlotte nodded, remembering the gaze of the duke’s burning eyes, “but she will make a fool of herself by agreeing to play with Villiers.
— It looks like you are really getting old, sister! Mei laughed. “Even I can see that Villiers is a very enviable man who is a pleasure to enjoy for any woman.
She looked a little bewildered, as if such words simply had no right to escape from her lips.
“Lady Roberta, the young ward of the Duchess, seems like a very acceptable person,” Charlotte remarked, changing the subject.
— Yes, naive little reed, isn’t it?
Charlotte suddenly realized May was staring at her hand. On the finger, over the glove, a signet ring sat tightly.
Ring.
So now she is the only spinster in the Tetlock family.
She immediately shook off her gloomy thoughts, hugged her sister and said everything that was required of her. The modest ward of the Duchess of Beaumont was completely forgotten.
And not only by the Tetlock sisters, but also by most of the participants in this comedy. All night she obediently drifted around the hall, circling in dances, passing from one male hand to another. At first she flew like a feather, but later she began to stumble a little: her legs hurt very much.
Then the girl retreated to the ladies’ room, because she rubbed her heels with Gemma’s elegant French shoes. Not because she lacked partners.
A flock of girls had already gathered there, and everyone was chattering like magpies, interrupting each other. When she appeared, however, the noise subsided.
Finally the girl with the sweet plump face stood up and smiled:
— I am Margery Rowlandson. We met at the beginning of the ball.
“Good evening,” Roberta greeted, curtsying.
Margery introduced her to the audience, and soon everyone was giggling at the latest news. It turned out that one girl, sixteen years old in appearance, was expecting a marriage proposal no longer than tomorrow morning, the other twice danced with a young courtier.
— But you are so lucky! exclaimed Margery, turning back to Roberta. “I just realized you live at Beaumont House, didn’t I? That is, under the same roof with Lord Griffin!
“So it is,” Roberta said carefully.
— Together with his… his… his…
I think the girl’s name was Hannah. She laughed so hard that she couldn’t finish. According to Roberta, this person deserved the throne of the queen of fools.
“His son is also here,” she explained calmly.
– I just don’t understand how you can stand it! came a piercing voice. “My mother says that if she had known about his presence, she would not have allowed me to go to the ball at all.
— He is only a six-year-old child.
– Did you really see him? gasped Margery in horror.
– I saw it. True, only once. And I didn’t see any sign of the devil’s horns and hooves,” Roberta announced solemnly. However, I am not particularly interested in children.
“Me too,” the owner of the piercing voice assented. “Especially children of this kind, who generally should be kept away from prying eyes.
“I don’t care if Lord Griffin has an illegitimate son,” Margery sighed. He is so extraordinary!
— I guess you’re right, although I prefer someone older… let’s say the Duke of Villiers.
There was a moment of frightened silence.
— Didn’t anyone tell you about his reputation?! Hannah gasped. – Stay away from him.
She underlined every word, pointing her finger threateningly at Roberta’s chest.
– As far as possible! You do not have a mother who would warn against such meetings. Stay away from him, I tell you!
Roberta stepped back in confusion:
– I promise.
She had never felt so alone before.
The girls took her for what she wanted to appear: a spineless, silly young heiress brought from the countryside to be put up in the marriage market under the auspices of her cousin, the Duchess of Beaumont.
Mothers were of the same opinion. True, the vile caricatures from the Ramblers Magazine were mentioned several times, but the good matrons assured that almost no one knew of their existence.
All night Roberta danced and looked for the Duke of Villiers. Finally, she apologized to her partner, who trampled all her legs, turned … and found herself face to face with the duke.
“You must forgive me,” he said, and a deep voice like the purring of a tiger pierced through her like a bolt of lightning. “I almost knocked you off your feet.
“Your Grace,” she muttered as she curtsied.
– As far as I understand, you are the new lamb brought to the slaughter for the London season. However, who knows, perhaps you will triumph. Now that we’ve met again, please repeat your name.
– Lady Roberta St. Giles.
“My father died a few years ago,” he remarked quite out of place. “I can only assume that yours suffered the same unfortunate fate: it is not for nothing that you are entrusted to the tender care of the Duchess of Beaumont.
The girl raised her chin defiantly.
— My father is overwhelmed by the kindness and courtesy of the Duchess! she snapped.
— May I invite you to dance? Just keep in mind that this can seriously damage your reputation. But I already warned you somehow, didn’t I?
— Is it? I must have forgotten,” she snapped, raising an eyebrow casually.
He knew she was lying, but he seemed to enjoy it.
“I never seduce impoverished young ladies,” he assured me ingratiatingly, “but I am always at the service of ladies with means.
“As far as I understand,” Roberta answered, after a pause just long enough for the sake of effect, “my virtue can endure one dance with you as a partner. But it is so nice to know that if I am overcome by a passion for self-destruction, you are always at my service. Such kindness warms the soul.
The Duke threw back his head and laughed heartily:
— Blown up by his own firecracker! But, I confess, I deserve it. Come dance. You are as whole in your soul as you seem.
– Since, as I understand, this reproach did not offend you, I will not pretend that I was horrified and will now faint.
“Like in Shakespeare’s Lucretia,” he recalled. Do you happen to be portraying Lucretia, whose face is shining with beauty and virtue?
– Sounds like a description of an armada going into battle. In no case! If I were Lucretia, the dagger would find its way into the heart of Tarquinius.
Bravo! But fear not, Lady Roberta, I have never stooped to the violent methods of Tarquinius.
– Is that how it is? It’s good to know that a tarnished reputation doesn’t always make you feel like a “desecrated prison.”
– An absolutely terrible metaphor! I don’t understand how Shakespeare could write such a thing! the duke frowned. “I assure you, Lady Roberta, that the ladies leave me as sure of their own divinity as they were the day before, perhaps a little more. I find pleasure to be a divine gift. Don’t you think?
They entered the ballroom. Particular pleasure, according to Roberta, was the hungry looks with which the surrounding women devoured Villiers.
— I suppose you hardly play chess? he suddenly asked. “Today I was given a very pleasant surprise in this regard.
“Never knew the rules,” she sighed. The chessboard had been gathering dust in her father’s living room for ages, and it never occurred to Roberta to approach it at least once. If only she knew that chess is now in big fashion!
The Duke seemed to read her mind.
“Almost no one in this house,” he nodded in the direction of the merry guests, “can consider himself to be any worthy chess player. Is it just me and, perhaps, our mistress have something like a strange predilection for chess.
They crossed the threshold of the hall and stopped, waiting for the start of a new dance. It seemed to Roberta that Villiers did not feel obliged to entertain her. Moreover, he dropped her hand, and when Roberta looked at him inquiringly, it turned out that he was exchanging glances with a young matron, on whose highly whipped hair a whole ship fit.
“Marvel of navigation,” he muttered, realizing that she had followed his gaze. “And Madame Moore is so graceful that it is strange that she does not tip over more often than usual.
He is already tired of her, and this is quite natural. He quickly gets tired of life.
“From what I understand, light frigates are easy to board,” Roberta remarked, fanning herself. “I suppose it’s a very tempting prey for those who are too clumsy or lazy to attract a more stable vessel.
“Definitely unexpected depths of character,” he admitted, and the cheerful note in his deep voice instantly reassured Roberta. My heart got much warmer.
The sound of trumpets heralded the beginning of the minuet.
The Duke bowed before her. Roberta closed her fan and curtsied. The pas of the dance were commanded to keep their distance, face to face. She thrilled under the gaze of those heavy-lidded eyes. My heart was pounding.
At the end of the dance he took her hands, kissed her and bowed deeply.
– My title, Lady Roberta, is the Duke of Villiers. I hope to see you soon, especially since I have arranged a long chess match with your hostess.
Of course, she knew that the duke was considered the best chess player in London, but now she realized how passionate he was in everything else. And that this passion is his weakness.
“Good luck,” she smiled.
– Good luck with your date or with chess?
Roberta deliberately averted her eyes. Now she’s been playing the game of her life. So, in no case should you show interest in the enemy.
— In chess, of course, my lord. I am often away from home, and I would not like to arouse in you the hope that I would prefer the disgrace and humiliation to which you so generously propose to subject me.
Turning sharply, she nevertheless looked back and managed to catch a glint of snow-white teeth – the duke laughed – before diving into the crowd. Until then, she had danced carelessly with everyone, but now she realized that in order to catch Villiers, you need to have a resounding success in society. Become the most enviable bride of the season. The most desirable of all unmarried women.
He would have to fight dozens of men for her hand… otherwise he would simply forget she existed…
Gemma’s brother appeared in front of her almost an hour later. Roberta sat surrounded by three young lords who offered her ginger waffles and punch. Compared to Villiers, they were easy to charm. All three devoured her with their eyes, and judging by the looks of the young ladies, she was plucking chickens destined for someone else’s supper.
But Damon quickly scared her fans away from her, which the girl secretly liked very much, who believed that it was useful for the latter to suffer a little, and took her out of the hall.
– Where are we going? Roberta asked as they walked down a corridor she didn’t even know existed.
“To my sister’s living room,” he answered curtly with a wide smile. He pushed open the door, and indeed the familiar mustard-colored walls appeared before her, minus Judith and the head on a platter. Roberta was so interested in this circumstance that she did not immediately notice that the room was not empty at all.
Directly in front of her, leaning over the arm of the chair, was a woman. All Roberta could see was a snow-white rounded bottom, because the purple skirts were pulled up over the stranger’s head, probably in order not to wrinkle. A gentleman perched between her spread legs, who, of course …
Serves her.
Roberta put her hand over her mouth and froze. Damon chuckled softly behind him.
Roberta couldn’t take her eyes off the obscene scene: almost violent, violent, and strangely enchanting. The man, thrusting into his partner, caressed her at the same time. The woman, whoever she was, was clearly enjoying herself, judging by the moans she let out. Roberta didn’t recognize the gentleman: he had a very solid belly, but his hips seemed strong, and, obviously, he was also at the height of bliss: he violently crushed his partner’s ass, pulled her up to him and …
Damon’s arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her into the corridor. Still laughing, he closed the door. Roberta, however, was not laughing. It felt like the air had been forced out of my lungs.
Damon peered at her in the dim light.
– I see I shocked you to the core. Let’s go to the library, there won’t be anyone there, because it’s damn hard to find.
He took her by the hand and dragged her along the corridor, turned left and opened the door.
The library turned out to be monstrously huge, lined with bookshelves, with windows covered with scarlet velvet curtains.
Roberta hobbled forward on weak legs. There was a sofa in front of the fireplace, and Damon pushed her into the seat.
“A little brandy won’t hurt you,” he decided as he stepped towards the sideboard. “I suppose this is the first time you’ve seen such a scene?”
Roberta opened her mouth but didn’t make a sound.
“Smitten on the spot,” he stated cheerfully. – Drink up!
Roberta took a big gulp and coughed.
— What is this?!
Damon laughed again:
– First brandy, first copulation.
“I haven’t copulated with anyone,” Roberta protested, taking another sip. She unexpectedly liked brandy, although it turned out that fire was burning in her stomach even without it.
“Right,” Damon nodded, throwing himself onto the couch next to the girl. “So, you’re shocked, terrified, shaken to the core?”

Accountability ratings
Texas assigns ratings to districts and campuses that designate their performance in relation to the state’s accountability system.
For the 2021-2022 school year, the state gave only A – C ratings. All Texas public school districts and campuses that would have received a D or F rating instead received the label “Not Rated: SB 1365.” In addition, not all schools and districts are rated because some are alternative education programs and treatment facilities.

The ranking of the 500 best schools in Russia was compiled
In total, 500 educational institutions that showed the highest results were included in the list. In total, the list included 500 educational institutions that showed the highest results.
The first place in the list deservedly went to the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239 from St. Petersburg. Second place went to the Republican Lyceum for gifted children in Saransk. On the third line – the Moscow “Fifty-seventh School”. In it, by the way, this good news was perceived rather coolly:
– This rating works for the reputation of the school, it will not bring money, – director of the 57th Sergey Mendelevich explains . – Only there will be even more people who want to join us, especially bypassing the law. And my table is already littered with submissions from the prosecutor’s office, why do we have 30 people in classes, and not 25. Otherwise, there is simply no way, because the law does not provide for mechanisms for selecting students. So rating by rating, as long as they don’t interfere with work.
This year the list of the best schools was compiled according to new criteria. Now the experts took into account the results not of the USE, but of exams in 9-classes. In addition, the school’s place in the list is also influenced by the victories of its students at the Olympiads.
P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }
– If the school is good, then they will provide quality education at all levels – in the fifth, ninth, and eleventh grade, – one of the compilers of the rating Ivan Yashchenko, director of the Moscow Center for Continuous Mathematical Education, is sure. – The new calculation method reduces the emphasis on university preparation. After all, the task of the school, after all, is not to train the child to enter the university, but to give him a good education.
Most of all in the ranking of Moscow schools – 139 out of 500. In addition to the capital, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, Chelyabinsk and Moscow regions are in the lead. Also in the ranking of the best schools are educational institutions of the Crimea and Sevastopol.
– I would prefer not to compare the absolute number of schools from each region, because there are just a lot of students in Moscow, which means that there will inevitably be more schools, – says Ivan Valeryevich. – For me, a more interesting indicator is the percentage of schoolchildren in the region who graduated from institutions from the top 500. In Moscow, 32.7 percent of schoolchildren graduated from top schools. This means that there are many good schools in the capital as a whole. And this is a consequence of the fact that Moscow kids do not need to go to one or two top schools from all the outskirts. The winners of the Olympiads no longer study in several top schools, they are “smeared” all over Moscow. Of course, it’s nice to be proud that your school is the first, but everyone wants to study at a school from the ranking.
There are no financial awards or grants for winners in this rating. The full version of the ranking can be seen here.

Ranking of schools based on the results of the VIII Open Championship
Open Championship. Schools are divided into 3 groups:
Golden group (15 schools) – 6 or more students from one school in the “Gold Reserve”;
Silver group (8 schools) – 2-3 students in the “Gold Reserve”;
Bronze group (22 schools) – 1 student in the “Gold Reserve”.
Olga Klachkova, director of the project “Open Championship of Schools in Economics”: “On the one hand, the method of calculating the rating is quite simple – the place of the school is determined by the number of its students included in the Golden Reserve of Russian Economists following the results of the Open Championship. On the other hand, the simplicity of the calculation lies in its practical applicability and versatility: one well-trained talented team of 6 students, included in the top 20 teams according to the results of the team tour, with a high probability will bring the school a place in the Golden Group of the rating. At the same time, 6 schoolchildren who are familiar with the economy at a decent level make it possible to build an educational trajectory around them with an emphasis on economics.”
Stanislav Zotov, curator of the economics and mathematics profile of school No. 2086: “The economics and mathematics profile in partnership with the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University at school No. 2086 has been open for 5 years. Every year our students get into the Golden Reserve, but the OC-2018 was special: the success in the team round determined the final position of the school in the ranking. In my opinion, the general erudition of schoolchildren, their ability to apply knowledge from different areas to a specific task in a timely manner, as well as clearly and logically express their thoughts, helps to solve cases. The psychological factor is also important – our students often visit the Faculty of Economics and they are used to the walls and the atmosphere, so they can better concentrate on solving the tasks of the Olympiad.”
Anastasia Kochergina, a graduate of school No. 2086: “In 2018, I participated in the OC for the last time, as I was already in the 11th grade and I can say that the whole Sunday was not wasted, as I met a lot of new people, with with whom I still communicate at the university, I was able to test my knowledge in economics and understand where my gaps are. Also, OC 2018 turned out to be very pleasant for me, since my school, namely GBOU secondary school 2086, was able to take first place in the ranking of schools, which is also a separate reason for pride. Therefore, I advise everyone to take part in the Open Championship, have fun and make new friends.”
Vadim Kraskov, director of pre-university education, EF MSU: “We are very pleased to see changes in the Gold and Silver groups of the rating: this means that more schools are participating in the championship, more and more schools are raising the average level of teaching economics. This is exactly what our rating is about – about those schools where, on average, they teach economics and mathematics well, which are necessary in order to get into the Golden Reserve. It’s nice to know that new schools are actively joining the Championship: this is gymnasium No. 1567 (Moscow), school No. 179(Moscow), school No. 17 (Tver) and the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Moscow State University, which immediately entered the Gold Group of the rating. We are pleased with the progress of our regular participants: Lyceum No. 52 (Ryazan), School No. 218 (Moscow) have risen from the Silver group to the Gold one. A pleasant surprise was the first place in the ranking of school No. 2086 (Moscow), with which the faculty has long and fruitfully cooperated. The growth in the ranking over several years indicates that the students of this school are successfully coping with the economics and mathematics program, as well as mastering the skills and values of teamwork.”
In 2018 at the Golden
Reserve of Russian Economists” for the first time included 20 educational institutions, from
of which 4 schools of the “Golden Group” were not previously included in the rating. Given
the results indicate an increase in interest in economics and an increase in
the quality of student training.
Organizing Committee
of the Open Championship congratulates regular participants on the improvement
results and new members – with a successful debut.

New kindergartens open in Sichuan province

Sichuan provincial government supported the construction of over 100 kindergartens. They are designed for more than six thousand kids.
In the city of Chengdu, the administration subsidizes the operation of such institutions by giving them grants of up to 300,000 yuan. How a typical kindergarten works can be seen in the Hongmenjie community in Chengdu. Here, children aged six months to three years study, play, sleep and receive two meals a day.
Shen Minhui, secretary of the local party committee:
“Our community has over 2,000 children under the age of three, but until this year there was no institution to care for them. Now there is a kindergarten for 65 places.”
This kindergarten was once a community center, so no rent is required, which cuts the cost of attendance in half. As a result, taking into account other benefits, parents transfer less than 700 yuan per child per month. Most kindergarten students live very close, their parents take them home after work.
Mother of a kindergarten student:
“Raising twins is not cheap. One of us has to work, so we send them here.”
In China, the State Health Committee oversees the care of children under the age of three, so kindergarten students are also provided with medical services.
Xie Zhaoli, general practitioner:
« Here we have everything you need for first aid in emergencies. We also create a medical record for each child and monitor their health status.”
According to official figures, there are about 42 million children under the age of three in China. Every third of them needs additional care, but kindergartens meet this need by only 5%. By increasing their number, the authorities seek to create a favorable environment for raising children and increase the birth rate in the country.
Hi parents, I have a peaceful, safe and happy environment for toddlers in my apartment near 75 & Southwestern Blvd. (The location on the map is not correct.) I never watch more than two at a time. I have asecurity camera, so you can check on your child anytime! I’m very gentle, attentive and safety conscious. I don’t smoke or have any pets. This isn’t a licensed daycare, but I am listed with Child Care Regulation (CCR), so I’m CPR certified, and my background check is continuously updated.
We have a balanced day that includes outside time, interactive play, independent play, story-time and downtime watching a cute show for toddlers. I also teach them letters, numbers, colors, shapes and animals. There’s a beautiful walking trail here and a playground for toddlers, so we go there every day! I encourage caring, sharing, taking turns, and saying please & thank you. I’m dedicated to helping each child feel special and important! My number is 469-662-6241. Thank you!…

Anna has been a devoted caregiver to my daughter this year. My little one has grown so much and is learning every single day with Anna. Me and my partner were nervous for someone to care for our daughteroutside of our home but once we met Anna and saw the amazing in-home daycare setup she has we were immediately put at ease. My daughter wakes up every day and is excited to go to “school”. Even on the weekends, she is saying “Anna? Go to school?”. Anna is flexible, reliable, genuine and so incredibly patient. I highly recommend her to any family! I’m actually the lead placement coordinator at a premier nanny agency and I’m in contact with nannies every single day. Anna’s hard work and dedication are neck and neck with the best in the industry….

Browns Daycare Home Preschool – Greensboro, NC 27401
Daycare in Greensboro, NC
Browns Daycare is a home daycare that offers childcare programs for nearby families in Greensboro. The director has programs for children as young as 0 to as old as 12. Contact Browns Daycare to learn more about availability, rates, and pricing.
WeeCare offers a home-based daycare environment for families, often called family childcare. Since our WeeCares are found in neighborhoods, they offer a warm space conducive to both playing and learning, so children get a well-rounded experience. One big advantage of family childcare is more one-on-one time for kids with their teacher, as well as less exposure to illness than larger daycare centers. Increased one-on-one attention means a provider is able to offer personalized development so your kiddo is ready for kindergarten. WeeCares are also significantly more affordable than comparable preschools, meaning they fit the budget for more families.

For many parents across North Carolina, it’s a struggle to find affordable care for children.
On average, N.C. moms and dads are spending about $9,200 a year on daycare centers.
The average cost of tuition at one of North Carolina’s public universities is only $7,200.
Regulators say it’s a serious problem.
“I would say that our current child care system is unsustainable,” said Whitney Tucker, research director at NC Child.
Stephanie Schweickert is a mother of two. Even in her two-income household, she and her husband struggle.
“To put it in perspective, we pay about 2 1/2 times each month what we pay for our mortgage,” Schweickert said. “It’s pretty difficult statewide to be able to afford it.”
NC Child says the quality of child care centers has gone up, along with costs.
“There have been a few years of progressive underfunding of our child care system in North Carolina,” Tucker said.
NC Child is pushing for a solution so parents don’t break the bank.
“We need significant sustained investment at the state level and also at the federal level to completely overhaul the way that we pay for child care in the state,” Tucker said.
While the fight for affordable child care continues, parents should check with their county to see if they’re eligible for childcare subsidies.
They should also take advantage of all tax credits.
Parents who enroll their children in home-based daycares save $2,000 a year on average.

Teaching vocabulary is essential to student success.
Due to their different backgrounds and experiences, students will come to your classroom with wide vocabulary gaps that likely started well before they were even school age. If you don’t explicitly teach vocabulary, you are relying on each students’ environment to supply them with the necessary vocabulary. Explicitly teaching vocabulary is the best way to level the playing field and provide every student with the vocabulary necessary for success. Teaching vocabulary measurably improves reading comprehension—if we teach the right words well enough.
I designed my Vocabulary Word of the Day resource to achieve this goal. Use this resource to introduce new vocabulary to your students each day. Students should complete the questions/review in ten minutes or less. You can implement this as part of your morning routine, reading block, or any other transition time throughout the day when you have a few extra minutes.
Word Choice – High-Utility, Tier-Two Words: In this resource, you will find carefully chosen words that will be productive additions to your students’ vocabulary. These are unfamiliar high-frequency (Tier Two) words that will help them with reading comprehension and standardized testing. I chose them based on the following criteria: · appear often across domains in grade-level material · appear often in grade-level standardized testing · are “kind of known” or “unfamiliar” to students reading at grade-level · can be described or defined by students using vocabulary they already know · relate to concepts they understand · relate to words they already know (shades of meaning)
Organization of This Resource: Vocabulary Word of the Day includes 36 weeks of words that you can use for the entire year. Each week, your students will learn four new words that appear often in grade-level texts across a variety of domains. Each word is introduced with a definition, an example sentence, and discussion prompts to broaden student understanding. At the end of the week, a review is included to help reinforce student understanding. I’ve included explicit instructions for students and teachers making it easy for you to introduce this system and quickly create a strong routine.
Features of This Resource: Parts of speech: The part of speech is given to help students understand how the word is used. Definitions: Each word is defined for students to help them work through the discussion prompts. Example sentences: Each word is used in a sentence with context to help students understand its meaning. Graphic Organizers/Thinking Maps: Students will define word in several ways to complete organizers and thinking maps. Attribute/Example Prompts: These prompts require students to identify attributes, examples. and synonyms of the word to help understands it’s meaning and its shades of meaning. Personal Connection Prompts: These prompts require students to personally connect the word to an event or experience in their life to improve their memory and understanding and associate it with things they already know. Answer Keys: Quickly check student work against these keys or allow students to self-check. Weekly Review: Students review the four new words each week to reinforce understanding.
————————————————————————- **A digital version is also included for use with Google Classroom.** With the digital version, you have the option to go 100% paperless. ————————————————————————-

Class hour 5th grade September 1 – script for the Day of Knowledge
authors: Elena Vladimirovna Fominova , teacher of computer science, physics, Krasnodar Territory
Attention! The administration of the site rosuchebnik.ru is not responsible for the content of methodological developments, as well as for the compliance of the development with the Federal State Educational Standard.
Class hour Knowledge Day September 1 in grade 5: “First time in fifth grade. May the number 5 bring us good luck!
Purpose of the event: acquaintance with children and adaptation of fifth graders to the new system of education, creation of a favorable atmosphere.
Objectives of the event: to create a favorable atmosphere for working in the classroom, to form a positive assessment of their class team among children, to form a trusting relationship between fifth-graders and the class teacher.
Forms of organization of activities in children : classes based on non-traditional organization of educational material: a lesson-journey using a presentation.
Decoration: on the board in the center is the number “5”, around it are autumn leaves, the inscription “September 1”, balls. A melody sounds (on a school theme)
Slide 1
Teacher: Hello, dear children, dear parents and guests! So the long summer has flown by. The carefree warm days are over. So fast you didn’t even notice. The new school year has arrived. You are now fifth graders. The number “5” will be your number all year. This school year will be different for you. You will have new items.
Just a question: how many subjects will you have in the 5th grade?
You will have new teachers, new classrooms. I think that at first it will be a little difficult: both the increased teaching load and the new requirements of teachers. But I am sure that all of you will cope with this, and I will always help you, and together we will overcome difficulties. In addition, your closest people will be nearby – your parents.
Slide 2
I, your class teacher, Fominova Elena Vladimirovna, am glad to welcome all the guests who have gathered for the holiday in this new, cozy office. Today we are going to an amazing country. You will not find it on a map or on a globe. Scientists and politicians will not be able to accurately name its location. But every student knows where it is. Guess what country this is? That’s right, this is a country of lessons, wisdom, dreams – a school country.
Slide 3
Today is an unusual day – today is the day of acquaintances in our school state. After all, we need to get to know each other better.
And for this I suggest to play a little. Each participant, starting with the leader, that is, from me, must stand up and loudly state his first name, last name and an adjective that reflects the positive qualities of your character. The adjective must start with the first letter of the name. For example, Tamara is hardworking, Oleg is witty. Are the rules of the game clear? Then we start.
The class teacher says his name, adding an adjective to it. Elena is natural. All the students do the same.
Slide 4
Teacher . Our acquaintance continues. We managed to characterize ourselves, let’s try to answer the question: “And what is our fifth grade in general?” You get a new task: you need to characterize your class, but with one condition. The characteristic should consist of adjectives that begin with the letters of the word “fifth grader”. Anyone who raised their hand can answer. So, what is it, our 5th grade?
After the children’s answers to the slide, the result is displayed:
Inquisitive
Bright
Creative
Sincere
Cultural
Curious
Active
Modern
Strong
Reliable
Ingenious
Critical
Slide 5
In astrology, five is the number of luck and luck. Five is a symbol of awareness. A person gains experience of life through the five senses. The number 5 is the number of wisdom. The five is most often associated with the goddess Athena. She is the daughter of Zeus, the goddess of wisdom. The number 5 is a symbol of the harmony of the surrounding world. And finally, the Five is a symbol of man. In philosophical and religious teachings, the five is central to the definition of human essence. And the Five is also a sign of curiosity, energy, inquisitiveness, independence, resourcefulness, ingenuity.
All shades of red correspond to the color of the five: raspberry, cherry, bright pink – all active colors that call to action.
Slide 6
Since the five is the symbol of our school year, it is necessary to perform a couple of rituals that will help us study this year only on “4” and “5”.
Do you want to have only fives and fours in all subjects?
For this to happen, one must clear one’s head of all unnecessary thoughts.
Ritual No. 1. “Cleansing the head from bad thoughts.”
Scratch your head with both hands, then drop whatever is stuck to your fingers on the ground, 3 times! (Children repeat a comic ritual after the teacher)
We cleared our heads of bad thoughts. Your bright heads are ready for new knowledge. And already the first lessons will show you this.
Slide 7
And now you need to call as many fives as possible. To do this, we will conduct ritual No. 2 with you – the ritual of addressing the Lord of the Fives.
Now you must say the sacred phrase in chorus: “hamsa fi aynek”. Translated into Russian, this means “five in your eye”, so in Morocco, for example, they try to protect themselves from the evil eye by repeating the phrase “hamsa fi aynek”. Since it helps the people of Morocco, let’s hope it helps us too. Let’s say the cherished phrase together. Then you need to throw up your hands with spread fingers, of which, as you know, there are five on each hand, and which also symbolize the mark “5”.
Slide 8
But seriously speaking, in order to study well, you need to work hard. There are several secrets of success in your hard work:
Secret 1.
Get an organizer for study. Write down the dates of tests there, make a schedule of extracurricular activities. You can also draw cats on the margins of this organizer! Well, or something else!
Secret 2.
Try to get carried away with a subject that is given to you with difficulty. Can’t love literature? Read interesting facts about writers. Upon learning that Pushkin was challenged to a duel 90 times (and once he even shot himself with cranberries), you will take a fresh look at his work.
Sekretik 3.
Can’t do math at all? Imagine that the fate of mankind depends on you. Solve these ten examples – and your calculations will help to avoid the collision of the Earth with a huge asteroid.
Secret 4.
Write cheat sheets. Even teachers will tell you that with the help of “spurs” it is easier to remember the material. Just don’t take them with you to the tests! This is always the same problem.
Sekretik 5.
Train your memory – learn a small poem every day. Or play memory game: print several pairs of pictures of the same size, lay them face down and turn them over in turn, trying to find the same pair. If you find one, put it aside. Do this until the pictures run out. Even more fun to play this game with friends.
Secret 6.
If you do not understand something, be sure to ask the teacher for clarification. So you will understand the subject better and the teacher will see that you are trying.
Secret 7.
Never do your homework in front of the TV: that way your brain won’t be able to concentrate. Can I do tasks in front of the TV turned off? Perhaps!
Secret 8.
Be friends with smart people. No, not at all in order to copy off their homework! You can learn a lot from smart people. And most importantly – you will always have something to strive for!
Slide 9
What awaits us this year? My forecast, though comic, but I hope this year will definitely come true. Maybe because there is not so much astrology in it, but more logic and eternal truths?
Virgo. These people are known for their desire for order and accuracy, and that is why the stars advise Virgo this year to pretend to be a different sign. Otherwise, there is a risk of washing the floors in the classroom and wiping the blackboard all year. Everything else is just great!
Scale. Stars are predicting a successful school year. The only problem is that you need to carefully weigh how to do the right thing: throw a cheat sheet to an eternal loser with the risk of being removed from the class, or try to convince him to do something himself at least sometimes.
Scorpio. You won’t have to sting anyone this year – everything favors you. But if you still feel the urge to bite someone, take your sneakers and wind circles around the school. Running in this matter helps a lot, at the same time improve your physical education score.
Sagittarius. Hide the arrows, even if they are from Cupid – it will be calmer for you and those around you. Shooting is allowed only with the eyes or at the shooting range. For success in subjects, just calm down a bit – and everything will work out!
Capricorn. Are you aware that you have a predisposition to fundamental subjects? Pay a little more attention to the exact school sciences and think about their applied application. At the end of the school year, you will see how much this has moved you forward!
Aquarius. Your astrological ability to pour water will help you get out in some lessons, but is unlikely to save you in tests. Therefore, sometimes get down to earth and look into textbooks. And at the beginning of summer you can praise yourself!
Pisces. Since it is difficult for you to fight the desire to swim in different directions at once, often opposite ones, then just decide for yourself that today you are doing one thing, tomorrow – another. Unfortunately, this does not apply to lessons – everyone will have to go. But then you will quickly see the result.
Aries. Your irrepressible energy should not stagnate – as a result, you will start negative everywhere. Therefore, be sure to show useful activity wherever possible – in the classroom, after school, at home to help parents. And when you finally get physically tired, fall on the sofa with a textbook. And by the end of the year you will be almost an excellent student.
Taurus. This academic year gives you the opportunity to become famous as a school Kulibin. If you are told that you are lazy, answer this that laziness drives progress – TV remotes were not invented by the most mobile person. At the same time, confirm the word with deed – improve some necessary process at school, but not the automatic spreading of cribs.
Cancer Use your step back sometimes well – hide in cover and study, study, study! A little time will pass, and you will be praised – both by teachers and life, because most of the richest people are Cancers.

Teacher . Each of you has learned what a surprise the new academic year is preparing for you. What is it striving for. You have moved to primary school. But in order to feel like real fifth-graders, you need to take an oath in the face of your comrades, parents, class teacher. You are ready?
Student’s oath:
I, a 5th grade student, solemnly promise:
To come to school before when the teacher has already done the homework survey.
Take care of the nerves of your parents, and therefore study …, study and study!
To love, respect and protect your precious class teacher in order to avoid damage to her nervous system.
Preserve and maintain friendly relations in the classroom, because only in this way can one become a real class!
Do not offend subject teachers, because all this will be rewarded to us in the control work.
Avoid by any means writing memorandums on us to the head teacher or director in order to avoid pleasant meetings in his office.
Do not offend and protect the good students and those who at least something in something understands, it is necessary to write off homework from someone.
During school hours, stay in the school building, and not in other places of your favorite farm.
To go to school decently dressed, that is, in uniform, so as not to introduce the opposite sex into a trance, and the teaching staff into shock.
Forget what your own mobile phone looks like during class.
Take care of school property, so that our followers have something to sit on and for.
Take care of your health, and therefore do not skip physical education classes.
Teacher: So you tuned in to the “school wave”.
The teacher makes the necessary organizational announcements: about subjects, teachers who will work with the class, schedule, etc., distributes booklets.
When they go on a long journey, they wish you a happy journey. Let us now wish ourselves and each other something good for this academic year.
(Children and parents pass on a “seven-colored flower” to those who wish and say wishes.)
The final word of the teacher :
Let the number five be
Will bring you good luck:
Dictations are written in five,
Problems are solved.
Let it be good at school
And on any subject
Let them open for you
All the wonders in the world!!!

IV . Learning new material.
– How do you think the movement of the planet affects people?
Exercise to develop attention and reading skills. (A number of words are suggested, written on the board in advance. Students must determine which word occurs most often and how many times.)
(Close up the words on the board and ask the children to name the words they have read). This is necessary so that students really read a series of words, and not “run” along their chain, looking for the given one.
(Mode of the day)
Vocabulary : daily routine is 904 95 the established routine of life.
– Yes, guys, all people should be able to correctly allocate their time, otherwise you may not have time to do anything. And, as you already know, on planet Earth there is a change of day and night. It turns out that all nature has adapted and lives according to this rhythm, and people too. The change of day and night has a great influence on our lives. During the day – everyone works, and at night they rest, i.e. are sleeping. But sometimes it can happen that you have to not sleep at night. What will happen to the person then? (children’s answers).
Find the answer to page 34 . (1 paragraph)

In the daily routine, there should be an alternation of mental and physical labor. After coming from school, you can take a walk in the fresh air, go in for sports, physical work, read a book, watch TV.
Working capacity is good from 10-12 am and from 16-18 pm.
– Look at the regime, what are you doing at this time?
– How many meals are served at school?
– Why do we need a daily routine?
V . Fixing
– It is necessary to correctly arrange the regime moments recorded on the cards in order.

The academic performance score provides a quick way to determine approximately where a school district’s or school’s student academic performance ranks among the performance of students in other Texas districts and schools. School districts and campuses with combined State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and college readiness indexes ranked in the top ten percent of Texas school districts and schools are awarded an academic performance score of 10, districts and schools with combined academic performance indexes in the ninth decile receive a score of 9, and so on.
Katy ISD was joined by 11.9 percent of all Texas K-12 school districts in being recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) with an accountability grade of A, the top grade awarded in 2018 to school districts.
Katy Independent School District operates forty elementary schools, fifteen middle schools and eight high schools. These sixty-three schools are attended by approximately 77,300 students who live in Katy, Brookshire, Fulshear and Houston.
Katy ISD’s 2018 TEA STAAR component scaled score is 91. As is further explained in the Texas Education Agency 2018 Accountability Manual, the STAAR scaled score is calculated by first adding equal weightings of the percentage of assessments on which students’ performance mastered grade level, met grade level and approached grade level, dividing the sum by 3 and rounding it to the nearest whole percentage. This raw STAAR raw component score is then adjusted or “scaled” by using a conversion table to align accountability letter grades and scores of Texas public school districts and campuses.
As indicated in the 2018 TEA STAARS scores graph (right) and shown in the Katy ISD schools table (below), thirty-four Katy ISD campuses attained TEA STAAR scaled scores between 90 and 100, fifteen campuses STAAR scores were between 80 and 89, thirteen had scores between 70 and 79, and one Katy ISD campuses had a STAAR scaled score between 60 and 69. The 2018 accountability rating for all Katy ISD schools is Met Standard, the TEA’s highest campus rating. Additional academic performance, student enrollment, teacher staffing and other information about selected schools is available by clicking on the campus names.
