Tiny Treasures Childcare | Childcare located in Charles Town West Virginia
Infant and Toddler (6 weeks)
In addition to holding and cuddling the infants, our teachers are always interacting with them to encourage their mental and physical development. Your child will learn to grasp toys, vocalize sounds, recognize pictures of familiar objects and acquire a variety of other skills.
Teachers work with each child in a series of stimulating activities that incorporate the natural routines of feeding and play. The teacher reinforce the babies’ development without disrupting their daily schedule.
A shoe-free environment built for little explorers
Our bootie- or sock-only policy is one of the first things you’ll notice about our infant classroom. As soon as your infant is ready to start crawling and scooting around, it’s important to give them the freedom to explore. A shoe-free environment keeps their little hands and mouth safe from germs and dirt while they discover the world.
Keeping cribs free and clear
We keep cribs clear of items like pillows and toys and use a firm mattress with a tight-fitting sheet. Plus, they’re see-through so we can keep an eye on your little one.
Flexible feeding schedules to fit your infant’s needs
Whether you breastfeed or bottle-feed, we’ll keep your infant fed, happy, and healthy. We have policies to carefully label and separate breast milk and formula. And you’re always welcome to stop in on a break to feed your baby!
Toddlers (1 to 2 Year Olds)
Toddlers have many opportunities to physically explore their world inside the classroom and on the playground. They also begin more structured activities, such as learning centers and circle time. Your toddler will begin learning concepts of color and size, and will build their vocabulary.
Our staff understands the challenges that one-year-olds face in a social learning setting, and have experience in helping them adjust to the give and take of the classroom environment.
Kids eye level
There’s something special about the toddler classroom: Everything is kid-size! We put books and toys within easy reach of little hands. Instead of waiting for an adult to bring a book over, kids can kick off story time all on their own.
Photos and labels
In our classrooms, photos and visual cues are everywhere. We always hang pictures of our children’s families to help build our sense of community. Labels—especially visual ones—help your toddler navigate the room and the day in a safe and confident way.
Beginners (2 to 3 Year Olds)
This program expands on the foundation established in the toddler program. We begin to introduce more routine and structure to children’s activities and daily schedule. Your child will build vocabulary, learn functional numerical skills, and will be encouraged to use simple reasoning to explain everyday occurrences. We provide children with age appropriate activities, with monthly themes kids enjoy through crafts, songs and daily activities focused on numbers, letters science and math.
Intermediates (3-4 Year Olds)
Intermediates (3-4 year-olds) are more secure and ready for a higher level of challenge. Our Intermediates have a lot of opportunity to explore Learning Centers and participate in dramatic play. Your child will learn to recognize letters and some letter sounds, add two groups of concrete objects by counting and begin to understand the concept of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Pre-School (4-5 Year Olds)
Our Pre-K program prepares children for kindergarten by teaching foundational literacy and math skills. Children learn letter-sound relationships, sight word recognition and basic mathematical functions. We also provide a character education program to nurture important social and emotional skills such as listening, understanding feelings and resolving conflicts.
This well-rounded program encourages continued skill development in the arts and creative expression and also includes physical fitness.

Locations in Fallout 4 – Cambridge
Inside the Commonwealth
Cambridge (eng. Cambridge ) – location Fallout 4 , Boston area.
Description
By far the largest and first of the neighborhoods a traveler to Boston sees, from Concord and Lexington, girded by the Charles River, Cambridge is made up of the sprawling structures of the Institute and old houses (and even older wild dwellers) from the early 21st century [1] .
The Institute’s unusually silent ruins still stand as a monument to past scientific discoveries, but the Institute’s scientists themselves have taken refuge deep underground [1] . Before the war, Cambridge was oriented towards study and research, as evidenced by the buildings of the College Administration Building, the Campus Law Office, Greentech Genetics, Mass Chemical and the Cambridge Polymer Laboratories. Served by the College Square underground station, the area was also connected to the rest of Boston by several bridges across the Charles River.
For the explorer, there is also the impressive radioactive crater in Cambridge and its native wild population, as well as other structures such as Post Office 115, where the Survivor can give his speech despite being 200 years late and Pozdemka’s conspiratorial secret base.
Cambridge consists of several main locations [2] :
[7.01] College Square
[7.02] Cambridge Police Station

Memories
Description
Memories are Kellogg’s personal memories, overlapping at one point with the Survivor’s and remaining in the Cybernetic Brain Stimulator. You can get to the location during the Dangerous Thoughts quest. Technically, the Survivor is in this location in the Vault 111 section between the quests “War Never Changes” and “Time Is Running Out” when watching Sean’s kidnapping. Once again, the Survivor enters the location on the site of Vault 111 in the quest “House of Memories”.
The location is rectilinear, consisting only of pieces of Kellogg’s past, interconnected by a kind of bridges – nerve cells. The rest of the location is occupied by an empty black space, which, however, cannot be reached. The survivor can go back and look at all the memories again. Also, when activating all the characters present here, Kellogg will give a short commentary.
Plots
Childhood
The first memory is moving to a room located in the NCR. On the radio at that moment it is reported that the five states have already ratified the treaty and created the NKR. Young Connie is sitting on the bed reading Grognak the Barbarian magazines. His mother is sitting next to him. Father Kellogg is nowhere to be seen, but his swearing can be heard.
San Francisco
The second memory is a room in San Francisco with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. In the room, next to the kitchen set, are the grown-up Kellogg and his wife Sarah. Nearby is a crib in which their daughter Mary lies. The furnishings in the room are rather stingy: a stove, a kitchen table, kitchen cabinets and an old table. A fan is spinning on the ceiling.
Corridor
The third memory is a long corridor, probably somewhere in San Francisco. Armed with a rifle, Kellogg hears the taunts of the bandits who have just killed his family. Kellogg kicks down the door at the end of the corridor and shoots the assassins.
Bar
The fourth memory is a dirty bar somewhere in the Wasteland. Unshaven Kellogg, already with a scar across his face, sits at the table and drinks. From the barmaid’s counter, two Wastelanders approach him and offer to kill the family that lives down the river.
Institute
Fifth memory in one of the technical rooms supposedly of the Institute in the Commonwealth. A balding Kellogg stands in front of a table at which a female agent of the Institute sits. Nearby are three synths of the first generation. It’s kind of like a short trial. The agent blames Kellogg for the failure of several of the Institute’s operations and orders the synths to kill him. Kellogg kills synths with ease and offers his services to the Institute. The agent is surprised by Kellogg’s abilities and they make a contract.
Vault 111
The sixth memory is the case of Sean being kidnapped in Vault 111. Everything is the same as what the Survivor could observe from his cryopod in the quest Time is running out, except that it becomes known that the kidnapping was carried out on the order of the Institute.
The following information is based on Fallout 4 cut content and has not been confirmed by main canon.
Institute room
Cut from the final version of the game was the Institute’s room, where one of the Institute’s scientists implanted Kellogg with implants in gratitude for the Vault operation to kidnap Sean. It can only be accessed using console commands.
End of information based on cut content Fallout 4
Kellogg’s house d-City, sit on the floor Sean-synth and read a few magazines. Kellogg sits next to him. After some time, the institute hunter X6-88 appears, gives Kelog a new task to eliminate Virgil. After that, X6-88, along with Sean, teleport to the Institute.
In order to leave the Remembrance location, you need to activate the TV in Kelog’s house, after which the player will return back to the Remembrance House.
Quests
“Dangerous Thoughts” • During the quest, the Survivor looks for a way to get to the Institute in Kellogg’s memories.
Notes
As in the pre-war Sanctuary Hills, Pip-Boy, 3rd person view and weapons are not available in this location, you cannot pick up things that are lying down, but it is possible to run.
Appearance
‘s memories only appear in Fallout 4 .

21 Fun Activities Parents Can Do With Their 9-Year-Old
It can be hard to come up with fun things to do with your kids, especially as they get older and harder to entertain. Here are 21 different ways you can spend time with your 9-year-old so that you’ll both be having lots of fun!
1. Play a Game Outside
There are lots of games you can play outside with your nine-year-old. You can play sports like basketball or baseball or running games like tag or red light green light. It’s good for your child to run around and get some sun. It can also be a way for you to get some exercise. Playing games outside is healthy and a lot of fun!
2. Play a Board Game
Board games are a lot of fun to play if you need to do something inside. They can be a good way to quietly occupy your child’s time. Some games can also teach children how to creatively problem-solve, and they can be a good way to teach your child how to be a good sport and not get upset if they lose. Just make sure to choose a board game that is age-appropriate.
3. Visit a Planetarium or Aquarium
It’s nice to visit a planetarium or aquarium with your nine-year-old. Not only is it a really cool place for a kid to explore, but it is educational. Your child can learn about space or oceans in an interesting, hands-on way.
Many of these places are designed for kids to keep them interested and occupied while they are also learning. The only downside is that it can be expensive, so it probably isn’t something you can do all the time. However, if you need something fun and educational to do with your nine-year-old one day, going to a planetarium or aquarium is a great choice.
4. Visit the Zoo
The zoo is another cool place to visit. There are a lot of interesting animals to look at and interact with. I used to get so excited to visit the zoo and see all the awesome animals, particularly the monkeys. Zoos also require a lot of walking, which can help your child get some exercise, even if you get exhausted. Zoos can also teach your child a lot about animals and maybe even help them find a new favorite animal.
5. Read a Book Together
Though nine-year-olds can read books by themselves, reading with them is a good way to spend some time with them. You can read more difficult books with them than they can read alone, which will help improve their reading ability.
You can read it out loud and let your child look at the page, or you can have them read it with you there to help with the difficult words or concepts. Reading is a great activity that can help you bond with your child and instill a love of reading.
6. Play Make-Believe
When I was nine, I loved playing make-believe. I would make up a story or scenario, then I would act it out, alone or with family. I pretended to be a ninja, a dragon, and a princess. This was my favorite activity to do as a child. I would spend hours acting out my little stories, imagining what was around me and what happened next. Whenever one of my family members would join me, we would have a blast together. Some of my fondest memories are of playing make-believe with my family.
Not all nine-year-olds will want to do this, but many will absolutely love it. Make sure to let your child take the lead on this so that they can use their imagination. Be willing to go along with what your kid wants you to be. This can help them develop creative skills and learn what kinds of stories they like or dislike.
7. Tell Stories
This activity is similar to playing make-believe, but it is less active and more word-oriented. Listening to your child tell a story is a good way to show them that you are willing to listen to them. It can also help them visualize things better, grasp abstract concepts, and develop language skills.
You can also play storytelling games where you and your child create a story together. You can give them a prompt which they then have to finish. You can also tell a story one line or word at a time, going back and forth. There are a lot of fun ways to tell stories through games.
8. Go for a Bike Ride
Bike rides are a lot of fun! You get to spend time outside in the fresh air, you get exercise, and you can discover new things. Riding around on bikes with your nine-year-old can be a fun way to give them the opportunity to explore. Even just riding around in your neighborhood can give them an opportunity to investigate the world around them, and maybe even meet some new people among your neighbors.
9. Go on a Hike
Another opportunity for nine-year-olds to explore is going on a hike. Hiking is a fun way to see some cool things in nature. They will be able to see some beautiful views and maybe spot some animals. Lots of nine-year-olds have a collection of cool-looking rocks or plants, and a hike is a great way for them to add to that collection.
10. Build a Fort
Building forts was one of the coolest things to do as a nine-year-old. Something about hanging out inside of something I made out of blankets was really exciting. It can be fun to help your nine-year-old build a fort, even if it is too small for you to go inside. Working together with your child, you can produce a really cool fort that your child will love.
11. Dance
Dancing together can be very fun and help you and your child get some exercise. Play some of their favorite songs or expose them to music that you like. There are a lot of physical benefits of dancing, such as improved muscle control and endurance. It can also help them better understand rhythm and melody. Dance can also help your child express themselves in a positive and unique way, and it encourages creativity.
12. Dress Up
Playing dress-up with a child is a lot of fun. Dressing up as someone else is great for a child developmentally, too. It encourages creative thinking, communication, language development, social skills, and testing out new behaviors.
Even if you only have a few clothing items for them to try on, this will help them be more creative with how they use the clothing items. Even just having a few blankets or sheets can encourage dress-up.
13. Cook
Nine-year-olds are more than old enough to help out in the kitchen. Letting them help you cook is a good way to bond with them and allow them to feel like they are pitching in to help. It is also good to teach them some cooking skills early so that they are able to feed themselves as adults. Just be careful when letting them near hot stoves or sharp tools, and try to delegate the simpler tasks while handling the more complicated stuff yourself.
14. Go Out to Eat
It sounds simple, but my siblings and I always loved going out to eat at restaurants. We had fun picking something off the menu, drinking soda, and eating something different than normal.
Some of my best memories are of spending time with my family at restaurants. It can also be a good opportunity for your child to make choices by choosing what they want to eat. Plus, you’re checking eating lunch or dinner off of your list of things to do.
15. Create an Art Project
Art projects are a really great activity for you and your child. Whether it’s painting, gluing, building, or anything else, art projects can bolster creativity. Here are a few art activities you can do:
Sculpting with clay or Play-doh
Origami
Collages
Watercolor painting
Chalk drawing
16. Visit a Relative
Relatives are really good at spoiling children, so naturally, they are a lot of fun for a child to visit. You nine-year-old can have a blast playing with younger relatives or receiving attention from adults while you get to spend some quality time with family members. It can be a good way to socialize for both you and your child. Spending time with family is very important, and it is a great activity.
17. Go to an Amusement Park
Going to amusement parks is very exciting for a nine-year-old, especially since some nine-year-olds are getting to the point when they are tall enough to ride on the big roller coasters.
An amusement park can be a fun day trip, though it can tire out both your child and you. You should make sure that you come prepared for a long day, with food, plans for breaks, and sunscreen. Amusement parks are exciting, and spending an afternoon at one is a really fun way to spend time with your child.
18. Go to the Theater
Going to see a play or musical is a super fun experience! Spending an evening at the theater is really cool, and it can also be educational and entertaining. This is a great activity to do with a nine-year-old.
Many nine-year-olds are mature enough to not only be able to sit through a theater production and actually enjoy it. Make sure to choose an age-appropriate show that will be entertaining and not too long. Nine-year-olds can generally sit still for around 40 minutes, so a play longer than 80 minutes with an intermission is probably going to be too long. Figure out how long the show is and make a judgment call based on your child’s attention span.
19. Watch a Sports Game
Taking your child to a sports game can be a fun way to bond. The atmosphere of sports games is very lively and exciting, and many nine-year-olds will enjoy watching a game.
However, don’t expect them to want to stay for the whole game. When my dad took my brothers and I to baseball games, we were begging to leave by the fourth inning.
If you are really invested in watching a sports game, bringing your nine-year-old is probably not the best choice. However, sports games can be a great experience for a nine-year-old, and a game may help them get interested in sports, which is a really great interest to have.
20. Play a Video Game
Spending time with your child via screen time is not the best option, but it can still have benefits. Lots of kids enjoy video games, and playing a game with them is a good way to show interest in what they like to do.
Playing a few rounds of a game can help you connect with them and give you an opportunity to work together with them. Many video games will help improve your child’s problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and imagination/creativity.
Being good at video games can also help children get to know more about computers, which is a great skill to have nowadays.
21. Watch a Movie
Movies are not the best activity, but enjoying a movie with your child can be a lot of fun. Every once in a while, you can have a movie night, watching a wholesome movie to relax and connect with your child. It is a fun way to spend time with family, and it can create lasting memories.
I can’t remember many specific details about playing tag as a child, but I can rewatch a movie I loved as a child and remember watching it with my family.
There are a lot of fun things to do with a nine-year-old, but the most important part is to be spending time with them. Cultivating a relationship with your child is very important. Enjoy this time that you get to spend with them and watch them learn and grow!

We know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry – the junior karts only reach speeds up to 25 miles per hour.
Great Outdoors
Eckert’s
At Eckert’s, you can almost taste the history. Eckert’s Orchards took root in 1837, and today, there are three farms just across the river in Southern Illinois. Together, the farms present fun for all seasons with you-pick crops such as strawberries in spring; blackberries and peaches in summer; apples and pumpkins in late summer and early fall; and Christmas trees in winter. Eckert’s also has special events throughout the year, which feature farm animals, corn mazes, wagon rides, live music, festive foods and more.
Gateway Arch National Park
After a $380 million makeover, the national park land around the Gateway Arch and the Museum at the Gateway Arch is picture-perfect and ready for visitors. The verdant grounds feature stroller-friendly walkways and two reflection pools, but if you want a bird’s-eye view, take the tram ride to the top of the 630-foot monument. After you squeeze into a futuristic, five-person pod, it takes four minutes to ascend. At the top, small windows reveal spectacular views of the Old Courthouse, downtown St. Louis and beyond to the west and the Mississippi River and Illinois to the east. Tickets often sell out, so reserve your spots ahead of time.
Meramec Caverns
Uncover Missouri’s buried treasure beneath the rolling hills of the Meramec Valley. Meramec Caverns, the largest commercial cave in the state and one of the most awe-inspiring caves on the planet, boasts astounding formations, including glistening stalactites, magnificent stalagmites, an ancient “wine table” and a seven-story “mansion,” which were formed from the erosion of large limestone deposits over millions of years. Trained rangers guide captivating tours along well-lit walkways to some of the rarest and largest cave formations in the world – they’ll also show you where an episode of Lassie was filmed in 1966. The underground oasis is a cool 60 degrees year-round, and you can supplement the spectacular experience with other family-friendly activities, such as panning for gold, ziplining or taking a scenic excursion on the Meramec River aboard a canopy-topped riverboat.
Missouri Botanical Garden
Parents, listen up! One of the best playgrounds in St. Louis sits on 2 acres next to the Climatron conservatory inside the Missouri Botanical Garden. The Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden introduces kids at their most impressionable age to the significance of plants and nature in fun and innovative ways. Youngsters can splash through a stream, navigate a rope bridge and play with the locks and dams. They can climb to new heights in a treehouse and then glide down Spelunker’s Slide and cool off in a limestone cave. Bringing botany and 19th-century history to life, the garden also invites children and adults alike to explore the wetlands, board a steamboat and visit a Midwestern prairie village. The Missouri Botanical Garden has long been a place of beauty, serenity and discovery, and there’s plenty more to enjoy beyond this playground.
Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center
Nestled within 112 acres of oak-hickory forest in a quiet corner of Kirkwood, Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center introduces people of all ages to the wonders of the natural world. One of the three trails through the park features interpretive signage, and inside the nature center, you’ll find interesting exhibits, including an aquarium and a bee hive, which offer something for every season.
Animal Encounters
Endangered Wolf Center
Arguably the best-kept secret in the St. Louis area, the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka aims to help save and protect wild canids by reintroducing Mexican wolves and American red wolves – the two most endangered wolves in the world – into the wild. Want to see the wolves for yourself? The Endangered Wolf Center offers a variety of daytime tours – from its signature endangered species tour to a specialized photography tour to field trips for schoolchildren – as well as nighttime howls. Education coordinator Jimmy Parsons can imitate each howl, and you might be lucky enough to hear the wolves howl back while learning more about wolf communication. Visiting the center, you’ll also meet other species of canids, including South American maned wolves, African painted dogs, fennec foxes, arctic foxes, swift foxes and a melanistic red fox named Cooper.
Grant’s Farm
Families with kids flock to Grant’s Farm – and for good reason. The St. Louis treasure boasts more than 900 animals, along with storied architecture, from Ulysses S. Grant’s humble log cabin, which he built in 1855, to the Busch Family Estate, often referred to as the “Big House.” Your visit starts with a short tram ride through Deer Park, where you might spot free-roaming antelope, deer and various bovines, including bison, water buffalo, yaks and domesticated cattle. When the tram stops, you can get off and ride a camel, watch a short and sweet animal show or feed the goats. (Warning: Those little guys can be aggressive.) Before you leave, stop by the German-style stables to see the iconic Clydesdales as well as classic cars and carriages. At the Bauernhof, enjoy lunch or a light snack; guests over 21 are also invited to grab two free beers. Yes, you read that right. Welcome to St. Louis! Admission to Grant’s Farm is free, but parking is $15.
Lone Elk Park
It’s a deer. It’s a bison. It’s a wild turkey! Lone Elk Park, a 546-acre wildlife management area, offers frequent wildlife sightings whether you drive or walk through the park. If your kids can handle it, follow the White Bison Trail – a 3-mile loop with twists and climbs – for the opportunity to spot white-tailed deer, elk, waterfowl and more.
Purina Farms
Life is better with a pet, and Purina Farms teaches visitors how to connect with theirs on a deeper level. It all starts with understanding and appreciating dogs and cats and their unique abilities. So, head to the Purina Farms Visitor Center (open to the public from mid-April through October), which includes the Incredible Dog Arena, where the Purina Incredible Dog Team demonstrates its skills; the Pet Center, featuring a 20-foot, multi-level home for adoptable cats; and the Barn and Play area, which houses domestic farm animals.
Saint Louis Zoo
A leading zoo in animal management, research, conservation and education, the Saint Louis Zoo should be at the top of your travel bucket list. At the entrance to the zoo, stop by The Living World, a 65-foot rotunda with natural light from the glass-domed ceiling and an assortment of life-size shark, squid and stingray sculptures. Then, journey outside to meet the amazing animals that bring the zoo to life. On any given day, you might see bears splashing in plunge pools, monkeys swinging through the trees or penguins squawking for more fish. General admission is free, as is street parking, and the Emerson Zooline Railroad is worth the money if your kids tire of walking. Your littlest ones might also enjoy a ride on the Mary Ann Lee Conservation Carousel, featuring 64 hand-carved wooden animals that represent some of the protected and endangered species at the zoo. The thrills never stop, so plan to spend a good chunk of time here.
Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House
On any given day, more than 60 species of tropical butterflies dance through the conservatory at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. Most people become enchanted by the experience, but some can get scared if too many butterflies land on them. Besides the delicate insects, the conservatory houses more than 150 tropical plants – in case you just want to focus on their beauty. Throughout the year, the Butterfly House also hosts special events for all ages, such as Morpho Mardi Gras, the BOOterfly House and Supper with Santa.
St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station
Hey, there’s a shark on track 36! The St. Louis Aquarium was retrofitted in a 19th-century train station, and visitors of all ages will love discovering which creatures now live along the tracks. The aquarium holds approximately 250,000 gallons of water and more than 13,000 animals. Keep an eye out for green sea turtles, paddlefish, sea dragons, cownose rays and Lord Stanley, the blue lobster. Love aquatic animals? Consider taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the St. Louis Aquarium, which includes personalized animal encounters that your kids won’t soon forget.
Suson Park
On a picturesque plot of land in St. Louis County, approximately 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis, Suson Park boasts a wonderful playground, catch-and-release fishing and a working animal farm. Kids can get up close and personal with cows, horses, pigs, sheep, chickens and turkeys, or you and your family can take a leisurely stroll around the grounds. Pack a picnic and enjoy a bite in one of the three shelters in the park.
World Bird Sanctuary
Walk on the wild side at the World Bird Sanctuary. Founded in 1977, the sanctuary aims to protect and preserve all manner of winged friends through conservation, rehabilitation, education and advocacy. The World Bird Sanctuary encompasses more than 305 acres and houses more than 200 birds, offering a one-of-a-kind wildlife experience. Meet a proud eagle, talk to a colorful parrot, encounter an emu and learn to appreciate vultures. This is one attraction that you shouldn’t miss, and we recommend planning ahead to join a guided tour. Dark winter nights are the perfect time to join one of the Owl Prowls, for instance, where you can meet the amazing birds that fly by moonlight. Held on select evenings from November through March every year, Owl Prowls offer an exciting opportunity to learn more about the intriguing life of owls from a local naturalist. Come face-to-face with live owls, take an easy night hike across the grounds and try to call to an owl in the wild. Hoot. Hoot.
Museums, Galleries and Public Art
Citygarden
Designed specifically for families, Citygarden should be on your list of things to do in St. Louis. The downtown oasis includes conversation-starting sculptures, lush plant life, rain gardens, dancing fountains and a 180-foot-long shallow pool with a six-foot-tall waterfall where kids can cool off. This is a perfect pit stop between visits to the Gateway Arch and Busch Stadium – just make sure you have a towel handy.
City Museum
City Museum is difficult to describe; it’s best to just go. Housed in a 600,000-square-foot former shoe company warehouse, the unique attraction is as much a playground as it is a museum. Exhibits consist largely of repurposed architectural and industrial objects, from broken tiles to safety deposit boxes to stainless steel buffet pans. This is a truly immersive experience, where you can climb into a bow whale’s mouth, rocket down a 10-story slide and pilot a plane suspended in the air. You can also navigate an underground tunnel system, marvel at pancake art, test your circus skills and write with the world’s largest pencil. How serious is City Museum about exploring? The gift shop sells knee pads – which aren’t a bad idea.
The Griot Museum of Black History
Located in the Old North St. Louis neighborhood, the Griot Museum of Black History reveals the broad scope of Black history and culture with educational and engaging exhibits. Its mission is to collect, preserve, interpret and share the stories of Black people, highlighting their regional connection to American history and their contributions to the country’s development. The core galleries of The Griot include artifacts, memorabilia and life-size wax figures. Most kids have fun “meeting” people who had a real impact on St. Louis, including Josephine Baker, Dred and Harriet Scott, James Milton Turner and Miles Davis.
Laumeier Sculpture Park
At Laumeier Sculpture Park, you can enjoy more than 60 sculptures al fresco. Meandering along the walking trail through the 105-acre, open-air museum and sculpture park, you get a close-up view of a huge eyeball, a larger-than-life deer and a pile of massive, crumpled cylinders. You can even walk, climb or sit on some of the large-scale pieces. While you’re here, encourage your kids to invent their own titles for the sculptures and ask them what they see, think and feel about each piece. Like so many of the magical places in St. Louis, Laumeier Sculpture Park is free and open to the public.
The Magic House
An epic adventure for preschoolers and young children, The Magic House offers hands-on interactive exhibits, where they can explore a child-size village, investigate scientific wonders, discover a new culture and take on the role of a doctor or veterinarian. Older kids will also enjoy surrounding themselves in an enormous bubble, experimenting with a 3D printer and taking a video with their hand on an electrically charged ball. (Spoiler alert: It makes your hair stand up!) In the Star-Spangled Center, parents might even learn something about a U.S. president or two. On top of that, The Magic House hosts special exhibits and events throughout the year. It’s all located approximately 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis in the charming suburb of Kirkwood, which also provides parks and restaurants for more family fun.
Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis
Have you ever wanted to feel like a giant? The Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis boasts an extensive collection of tiny objects in room boxes, dollhouses and displays. Located in the heart of the Bevo Mill neighborhood, the museum focuses on the cultural and educational aspects of the miniature works.
Missouri History Museum
Explore the storied history of St. Louis, from its founding in 1764 to the present day. The Missouri History Museum’s exhibits occasionally change, but they’re always well done. Little ones will love the History Clubhouse, where they can build a downtown skyscraper, play house in the ancient city of Cahokia, serve food at the 1904 World’s Fair and pilot a steamboat on the Mississippi River. Coloring STL, another current exhibition, allows visitors to interact with St. Louis’ most fascinating buildings by coloring them, right on the walls.
Myseum
A combination children’s museum, science museum and indoor playground, Myseum has 30 unique exhibits to explore. Kids can dig for dinosaurs, play with glow shapes, interact with the video wall, “work” at an imaginary zoo clinic and more. Every visit offers something new, educational and, above all, fun for growing minds. Just remember to bring socks!
National Blues Museum
The National Blues Museum explores the history of the blues and celebrates the genre as the foundation of all modern American music. Featuring artifact-driven exhibits and high-impact, technology-driven experiences, the museum has a cool factor for kids. During your visit, you’ll even have the opportunity to write your own blues song and add a guitar track – no strumming skills required.
National Great Rivers Museum
The mighty Mississippi River has many stories to tell, and the National Great Rivers Museum wants to share them with you. Housed in a 12,000-square-foot facility adjacent to Melvin Price Locks and Dam, the museum is the direct result of a partnership between the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Through interactive exhibits, a theater and free public tours, the National Great Rivers Museum introduces people to the great rivers in the area, their unique environments, their roles in our history and their impact on our lives today. You can do a self-guided tour, but the daily tours led by staff members are more exciting for kids. Available at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., the tours take 45 minutes, and they allow you to experience the locks and dam from the view of a lockman.
National Museum of Transportation
Do your kids love planes, trains and automobiles? The National Museum of Transportation has one of the largest and best collections of transportation vehicles in the world, encompassing more than 190 major exhibits. Check out the Union Pacific #4006 – known as “Big Boy,” it’s the largest successful steam locomotive ever built. Ooh and aah at a 1901 automobile – built by the St. Louis Motor Carriage Co., it’s the oldest of only nine such cars still in existence. And marvel at Virgin Hyperloop’s Pegasus pod, which can transport cargo – and eventually people – at airline speeds with zero direct emissions. There’s a lot to climb in and on at the museum, and for the littlest ones, there’s the Creation Station play area.
Saint Louis Art Museum
Travel across time, places and cultures at the Saint Louis Art Museum. Boasting one of the country’s leading comprehensive collections, the free museum in Forest Park inspires discovery and elevates the human spirit. Younger kids will dig the colorful paintings and ancient artifacts, while older kids might enjoy a deeper dive into the artwork with an audio guide. On select Sundays, the museum offers family-friendly tours with hands-on activities; each Family Sunday features a different theme and art project. Wee Wednesdays – including a look at art from the museum’s collection, story time and an art activity – are also recommended for kids three to five.
Saint Louis Science Center
Another fantastic and free attraction, the Saint Louis Science Center specializes in “Aha!” moments. As you test the laws of physics, sneak by a life-size, animatronic Tyrannosaurus rex, explore the night sky and build a replica of the Gateway Arch, you’ll ask and answer hundreds of questions. You might also consider paying for a special exhibition or a film at the OMNIMAX Theater if something sparks your interest.
Theater and Performing Arts
Circus Flora
Acrobats, aerialists, comedians and daredevils – Circus Flora has assembled the most breathtaking circus artists from around the world for an arresting and unforgettable family-friendly experience. The theater company, which performs at The Big Top in the Grand Center Arts District, specializes in one-ring circus productions, combining the energy of both traditional and modern circus arts. Aiming to engage audience members on different levels, it focuses on emotional narratives and inspirational physical feats. Don’t miss this opportunity to teach your kids that adventure and excitement are everywhere.
The Fabulous Fox
Ready for a showstopper? The Fabulous Fox attracts audiences from near and far for Broadway shows such as Frozen, The Lion King, Six and Wicked. Dress your best and enjoy a night at the theater, where the lights, costumes and songs will keep your kids enthralled. Before the curtain rises, grab a bite to eat at The Fountain on Locust – and save room for dessert! The ice cream cones, old-fashioned sundaes and creamy milkshakes are irresistible. The boozy floats and signature ice cream Martinis are also must-try treats for those 21 and older.
The Muny
During summers in St. Louis, the limelight shines on The Muny. For more than 100 years, the outdoor theater has filled Forest Park with the sounds of Broadway, attracting out-of-town professionals as well as local talent for memorable musicals ranging from As You Like It (the very first production ever mounted at what would become The Muny) to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Every season features a few kid-friendly productions – think Matilda the Musical, Mary Poppins and Annie. The shows are enchanting, electrifying and empowering, and every night, there are free seats available on a first-come first-served basis, so everyone can experience the magic of live theater.
Want to take your kids to a live sporting event? From Cardinals baseball to Blues hockey to Battlehawks football, St. Louis gives fans something to cheer about all year long! Check out our St. Louis sports guide for more information.
What to do with a child at home 8-9 years old
At the age of 8-9 years old, the child more and more often shows his independence, wants to show himself as an adult, but at the same time remains quite fragile. He needs proper nutrition, good rest and enough sleep (9 hours a day).
Of course, for normal development, children need to move more and be outdoors more often, but today we will talk about what to do with a child if he has to stay at home.
If you decide to brighten up your leisure time and buy games and toys for your child, pay attention to the fact that children at this age are interested in traveling, adventures and the universe. A telescope, a microscope, sets of a young chemist, physics, sets of experiments and tricks will help to arouse curiosity in them.
What about books?
If your child likes to read, buy some children’s fiction. It helps to develop thinking, the child learns to analyze other people’s actions, to reflect on the motives that move the main characters, to draw conclusions.
Bright encyclopedias about space, nature, and technology will help stimulate interest in knowledge.
Well, if you see that your baby does not have a craving for reading, try alternative options: listening to audio books, watching filmstrips, looking at comics.
What else can a child of 8-9 years old do at home?
Creativity and needlework
Get your child interested in some kind of creativity that is relevant today: scrapbooking, card making, wood burning, sawing with a jigsaw, bead weaving, macrame, embroidery, knitting, decoupage, felting. To make the task easier, buy ready-made kits for creativity: sand paintings, creating and coloring plaster figurines, making photo frames, coloring a picture by numbers, working with felt and fur, making toys, creating photo albums, voluminous applications, etc.
If there are some holidays in the near future, give the task to the child to make home decor, handmade cards, posters. A good task would be to make and wrap gifts for each family member.
Color of the day game
Ask the child to choose any color, for example yellow. Give him clothes in yellow tones, find yellow foods and shades for breakfast, lunch and dinner, decorate the table with yellow accessories. Yellow drawings, toys and even the frequent use of the word “yellow” should accompany the child throughout the day.
Game “Build a Shelter”
You need to build a house, a cave, a tent using available materials. As materials, a table, chairs, bedspreads, sheets, pillows are suitable.
Pick Up Sticks Game
Even small children love this traditional game. Take ten popsicle sticks or plastic straws. The child holds them in his hand, then releases them, and they fall on the table. The kid must carefully collect them one at a time so as not to move those lying nearby. If he moves at least one, the game ends.
Dress Up Game
Children love to dress up. Girls like to try on their mother’s high heels, dresses and skirts, while boys like their father’s shoes, caps and hats.
Invite your child to pretend to be a character by selecting the appropriate costume from your wardrobe (alien, superman, cowboy, princess, etc.).
Circus game
Buy your child a clown nose, a plastic bow tie, a wig, give them huge shoes and invite them to play in a circus where they will act as a clown. Let him come up with a script and perform.
Book balancing game
Have the child walk around the room trying to hold the book on their head without touching it with their hands. Choose books in different formats.
Orchestra Game
Have your child organize an orchestra with homemade musical instruments (metal tea cans, pots, wooden spoons, etc.).
Treasure Hunt Game
Children love to find and hide things, so they will love the treasure hunt game. Toys and household items are suitable as treasures. To make the game more interesting, draw a map.
Balloon volleyball
Don’t know what to do with a child of 8, 9 years old at home? Place chairs some distance apart. Stretch a rope between their backs. Arrange a game of volleyball.
Home badminton
If you don’t have rackets, take magazines, a balloon will do instead of a shuttlecock. Play badminton, and you can also arrange competitions to see who can throw the balloon the farthest from one end of the room to the other.
Game “What’s missing?”
Place five items on the table. Let the child look at them carefully and remember. Then he will close his eyes, and you hide one object. Opening your eyes, your child should guess what is missing.
“Guess what it is” game
Blindfold your child. Explain that he should move around the room carefully, with his arms outstretched in front. Touching an object, he must say what it is.
Obstacle course
Build an obstacle course for the child to pass. Use a bench, overturned chairs, thick ropes. Obstacles need to be passed in different ways: jump over something, step over, crawl under something, go around something.
Picture an animal game
Let the child think of an animal and show its habits with gestures. And you guess and vice versa.
Car racing
Make cars out of matchboxes or other materials at hand. Draw a track on a sheet of paper or wallpaper, you can also make it on the floor using paper adhesive tape. Draw a start and finish. Use the stopwatch to race.
Stamps
Don’t know what to do with a child of 8, 9 years old at home? Teach him how to make stamps out of potatoes by cutting out an original pattern in it. Give the paint, and let him create his own personal, unique stamp.
Which hand?
For this game, you need to prepare some pebbles or small coins. One player hides both hands behind his back and clamps an object in one of them, then puts them forward, and the other must guess which hand this object is in.
Eggshell Mosaic
Remove egg shells, wash and dry on paper. Shred it. Get some plastic cups. Pour water into them and dissolve a little paint of different colors. Arrange the shells in cups, mix and let stand for 15-20 minutes to color the shell. Let the child take out the shell and lay it out on a sheet of paper so that it dries. After that, you can make a picture of a multi-colored mosaic.
Puppet show
Cover the table with two sheets so that children can crawl under it. And the sheets went one on top of the other in the form of a curtain. Fairy-tale characters can be puppets, toy animals. Dolls can be made from socks or other scrap materials.
Shadow play
This game is based on the use of light and shadow. Hang a sheet of paper in the center of the room. Turn off the lights and light the sheet with a flashlight from the back. To get a shadow, someone has to move their fingers and hands between the sheet of paper and the flashlight.
We bring to your attention some options for what else you can do with a child at home 8-9 years old

Somehow there was no such problem before, but now it appeared: if I go about my business, I really don’t know what to offer my daughter to do, except for a TV set and a tablet. Those. as soon as I start cleaning and cooking, the child is immediately in front of the TV. Yes, and at other times it’s harder for me to occupy it, before it was possible to sculpt, draw, make something, but now my skills are no longer enough for an adult child. Now she is sick, we will be at home for two days, what can we think of instead of a TV set? What do your children do 9-10 years?

My, if there is a free minute – reads. This is the simplest and most useful. Sometimes crossword guessing. I have nothing against TV, I’m only against advertising When 40 minutes of an interesting program has 15 minutes of “pads” – I consider such a waste of time a crime. Therefore, he only watches the BBC movies that I downloaded, Animal Planet and the like. He loves the site stranamasterov.ru very much – there you can find interesting ideas and create something with your own hands. There is absolutely not enough time! There are interesting classes that are postponed for months (!!!!), we just didn’t have time yesterday, we didn’t have time today, and tomorrow we’ll probably not have time again 🙁 I translated a funny picture onto a plank, I wanted to burn it out – there’s no time. , in Photoshop I made a collage of cool photos – also waiting in the wings. And all this will lie for a long time, because until the whole Conan Doyle is over, it obviously won’t start. So I envy you. (Daughter is also 9years) There are a lot of sports sections and circles at school, she tried to go to karate and origami – she just liked it, there are no words, but she doesn’t have time.

What does she read about Conan Doyle? About Sherlock Holmes? I would like her to do something active, and not for a book, telecom, computer. But, of course, a book is better than a TV set, if you have to choose.

Yes Sherlock Holmes. (or maybe not, he will come from school, I’ll ask, I started exactly with him 🙂 – it’s just that my complete works are still in the closet.) Is it active for sports? or type of handiwork? You clarify, because just what to do is an extensive question, now someone will write that it is interesting to learn languages in some busuu, but this does not suit you at all.

At this age, my children: – go to school and do their homework – walk 1-3 hours a day (depending on the season) – attend clubs and sections (not numerous) – spend time with friends at us at home or with friends (minimum 2 hours a day) – helping around the house (0.5 – 1 hour a day) – reading – spending time with parents playing board games or watching TV series (minimum 1 hour a day, more than 2 hours) – play on a computer or watch cartoons / films, including educational films (1 hour a day) We do not have a TV and game consoles.

you have a girl and she is already 9 years old. It is not clear why when you clean or cook – she is on the sidelines. But what about the future hostess? 😉 Involve her too. Do you have a hobby? Do you knit, embroider, etc.? Get her involved too. If not, start doing something together, learning something. When she is sick (let her get better!) – books, magazines, movies on a disk – this is normal if she has to lie in bed.

Lessons. If there are holidays, then you can give additional tasks or read. With such a breakdown, the child quickly finds white for himself, so as not to wander around.

I envy you. We have the opposite – NO TIME!!! We don’t turn on the TV, we don’t have time to play on the tablet. While I’m busy, my daughter is doing things that don’t need my help. – School homework. – Chess homework. Truly an endless event. – Reading on the program for next summer. – Preparation for the Russian Bear cub. Well, she also loves books Secrets of Plasticine – she can sculpt for hours, she also loves to draw. And yes, when free time, playing with toys, if there is time – maybe for hours. But, really, this rarely happens.

O. We are also preparing for the bear cub at home, we are studying the old years (tasks) In that year, among the 3rd grade. she alone was given a diploma and a badge. scored the most points. So we are training for this year. (Like November 14 will be)

One thing is a pity – I have not been able to find another such successful Olympiad yet. Tasks in the Bear cub are very well balanced – both simple, and medium, and complex, and for thinking, and for knowledge … We will also have Kangaroo in mathematics, but it’s somehow strange there … Either very simple problems, or already difficult … And there was also an Intellectual Marathon – there was some kind of mura there … :-(((
Afel *
11/01/2013 10:12
for sure, I myself love to solve these tasks :-). And we did not participate in Mathematics in kangaroo (of our own free will). my daughter knows math very well, but she has a problem with logic.
01.11.2013 10:26
Do you need to prepare separately? I didn’t even think about it. And what are those tasks? Are there examples on the internet?

here is an example of tasks from the organizer’s website http://www. rm.kirov.ru/tasks.htm

Why do you invent classes for such an adult child? With a slight movement of the hand, the antenna is pulled out of the socket and “Oh, you need to call the master … Masha, come on, help me clean the vegetables for dinner.” Then the child himself will figure out what to do. By the age of five, my children went completely offline, I only bought them kits for creativity, stationery and praised them based on the results of their activities.

Let her help around the house or she can’t get out of bed? And all sorts of women’s needlework was not offered to her? Knitting, embroidery, etc. You can buy an inexpensive cross-stitch kit, which attracts many. Or bake all kinds of cakes, girls usually like it too

because you have a tablet and a TV available, the child does not want to play by himself. My child is 8.5 years old. The TV is very limited, he watches a maximum of 40 minutes and then not every day. almost does not look. He plays Lego, draws or makes crafts, invents what he will do, draws and decorates, plays board games, likes to roll cars and a tank on the remote control, role-playing games.

Does she have favorite dolls? Do you like girly magazines? My monsters also love barbies. He likes to just draw or arrange the life of dolls, invent. For example, a bed for the daughter of a Bigfoot – cardboard, cotton wool, glitter and sequins, tulle, cocktail sticks, glue, white ref fur – you can do so much beauty!

Basically, they are engaged in circles – at home, almost only time for lessons. But if suddenly a minute falls out – either reading, or needlework – he already embroiders decently, he is mastering knitting from labor – he is left-handed 🙁 With pleasure he performs various tasks in mathematics or solves puzzles. Well, if among all this the holidays are sick for a couple of hours a week baldeny in front of the TV will be entertained – I don’t mind, everyone needs to relax sometime, including stupidity 🙂

we don’t have free time (10 years), at any free minutes on weekdays she does homework, we have many of her favorite music circles. school, embroidery (circle), drawing (studio), English (tutor), sports club at school. So, TV only on weekends (we don’t even turn it on), tablet almost never, thank God. time, if it happens on vacation, or in tech. weeks sometimes-bike, roller skates or museums-theaters (we love it very much)

we are probably lucky with the “habitat”. But when his son has free time, he just goes for a walk with friends in the yard. They play football, basketball, hide-and-seek in Moscow)) In the summer – great, roller skates. My son is also 9 years old. And girls sometimes play with them or walk separately. It’s a pity that now it’s less common, because there are a lot of activities and it’s getting dark already early

mine, at any free minute, grabs the tablet, of course 🙂 but this is strictly limited. In principle, there is no free time at all, three workouts a week + music + a couple of circles in after-school. When he is sick, he lies flat. And if it doesn’t lie, then I send it to school.

Between lying in a layer and sending to school, there is such a phase as recovery 🙂 to the doctor anyway on Friday at 15 o’clock!!! And to school in general from Monday and not earlier!! In these few days, you can shoot yourself from their convalescent nature …

clear. Mine hasn’t been sick for so long at TTT school. Is it at 9 years old that children get sick? And often? We really are in Germany, here you can go to school without a certificate from a doctor. He lies flat for two or three days, and on the 4th day there is no temperature, so I send him to school. And everyone here does it. Well, this is how people go to work.
Natashkina V.I.P.
04.11.2013 02:09
I was ill at 9 and 10. No, not often. Most often it happens during an epidemic of influenza or acute respiratory infections in Moscow. February March. Cold and damp. There are a lot of people, and even in public transport, some kind of infection and sneezes 🙁 Without a certificate, you can only 2 days, 3 days – already with a certificate from a doctor. If it lies in a layer, this is a temperature of 39-39.3. This is horror for me. Most often, if this is something like the flu, then, together with 38-39, it is a sore throat, a runny nose that pours without stopping, turning into a cough. If on the 4th day of the child to send to school – kapets. Complications 100%. Therefore, everyone is insured – both parents and doctors.

When children are allowed to explore, question, and grow through their formative years, they set themselves up for a bright future. Interacting. Exploring. Questioning. Developing. These are all strong actions, imperative…
Education
It’s important to teach children how to think, not what to think. By encouraging critical thinking and a sense of curiosity, we can help them become innovative thinkers who are better equipped to tackle future challenges. The famous saying “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think” by Margaret Mead needs…

In 2002, Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah, hosted the Winter Olympics. The ski slopes themselves are located outside the city, and the main center is Park City. The resort has a high level of service and comfort. Height difference – 945 m. There are several more resorts in the vicinity of Salt Lake City: Alta and Snowbird (high-class resorts, with Alta specializing in off-piste skiing, and Snowbird in snowboarding), Deer Valley (specializing in freestyle). In addition, Alta has the best ski school in the United States. In total, there are 21 lifts and 51 slopes in the area.
Three completely different resorts – Park City, Deer Valley and The Canyons. The resorts form a single ski area just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City.
As if the main Center of the region is Park City – a “voluminous city” with an innumerable number of boutiques, shops, cafes, restaurants, skating rinks and footbridges. The city arose as a result of the “silver rush”, and the first skiers climbed the mountains in mining carts. Until now, the glory of Park City as a center of silver mining overshadows its glory as a ski resort, although after 2002 the situation is seriously leveling off in favor of the expansion of the skiing popularity of Park City and its surrounding resorts. The central street of Park City – Main Street – gives the resort a recognizable “signature” gloss and creates an unforgettable festive atmosphere.
Canyons has developed into the fifth largest ski resort in the US from a very small village. In 2002, it already hosted the Olympic Games. The nearby Olympic Park has bobsleigh tracks and ski jumps. All three resorts are connected by free shuttle bus, however a rental car will add to the comfort of your stay at Park City Resorts.
Deer Valley is located 2 km from Park City. The resort is considered an unacceptably luxurious place, “has no shame or conscience” and repeatedly won the title of the most luxurious resort in North America. On local ideally prepared slopes, as in neighboring Alta, it is forbidden to appear on a snowboard. Snowboarders obviously “love” this resort too…
Deer Valley consists of 3 “sectors”: Snow Park (Snowpark), Silver Lake Village (Silver Lake), which is located 5 km from Snow Park and is characterized by intimacy and exclusivity, and Empire Pass ( Empire Pass) – for fans of passionate solitude.
Park City Resort
Ski-School and Kindergartens in Park City:
Children’s Ski Garden (3.5 to 5 years old: from USD 650 for 5 days for 6 hours a day c lunch).
Children’s ski school (from 6 to 13 years old: from 590USD for 5 days, 6 hours a day with lunch).
Group lessons for adults – from 170 USD for 6 hours a day, from 215 USD for 3 days for 3 hours. Individual lessons – from 120USD per hour.
More than 750 instructors work in 3 resort ski schools during the season.
Deer Valley Resort
Deer Valley Ski-School and Kindergartens:
Kindergarten (ages 1 to 2, from USD 82 for 7 hours a day with lunch).
Children’s ski garden (from 3 years old: from 120 USD for 7 hours a day with lunch).
Children’s ski school (from 3.5 years old: from 125 USD for 7 hours a day with lunch).
Group lessons for adults – from 100 USD for 3 hours per day. Individual lessons – from 85USD per hour.
Slopes and lifts
The skiing area is divided into two zones of the same size, which, to everyone’s bewilderment, are not connected in any way by lifts. The ski isolation of the Deer Valley, of course, is the trademark of one of the most expensive resorts in the world, but globally, both the “rich” and the “poor” suffer from the disunity of the ski areas (if they somehow turn out to be here by some miracle). The ski area above Park City – Deer Valley’s most versatile (“for everyone”) ski area in Deer Valley, where snowboarders are not allowed – offers ideally prepared, short, tireless slides “à la Courchevel” (as in Courchevel, here there are a couple of fairly steep difficult descents). The Canyons is a more democratic and variegated region in terms of relief: it is popular both among amateur skiers and riders of different levels of training.
Easy skiing:
Park City: First Time and Three Kings chairs take you to the cheerful green area; all other easy tracks in one way or another intersect, flow out or merge with / with blue and black.
Deer Valley: The Silver Lake area offers luxurious panoramic descents from the highest points in the ski area.
Moderate skiing:
Park City – in general, almost everywhere, but it is especially worth recommending the ski areas to which the Thaynes Lift chairs (Jupitus Access slope), King Con (11 different-sized blue slopes) and Silver Lodge (Steep cute slopes Single Jack and Sunside).
Deer Valley – Mt. Bald is home to some nice, polished blue runs.
Difficult skating:
Jupiter Bowl is probably the best place. The rest of the tracks, marked with one black diamond, are more or less predictable and non-catastrophic. The best expert skiing here, of course, is on the virgin lands.
Virgin:
The Canyons offers unique freeride opportunities in herringbones. The most popular day route from Park City to Alta is the Ski Utah Interconnect Tour.
Snowboard:
Not in Deer Valley. Park City and the Canyons offer beautiful terrain parks and luxurious off-piste.
Apres-Ski and Nightlife
Mountain Restaurants – 5 mountain huts in Park City + several amazing restaurants in the Canyons and Deer Valley offer not only special menus but also outdoor barbecues .
City restaurants – 106 restaurants. Seafood, Italian pasta with truffles, huge American steaks, exquisite French delicacies – all this is Park City. A particularly recommended restaurant is Robert Redford’s “Zoom” offering neo-fusion cuisine. Budget options are also more than enough.
Entertainment – 6 discos, 86 cafes and bars.

As early as April, distribution of children to kindergartens for the new academic year will begin in Kolomna. There are always many questions on this issue, and not enough answers. The KS journalist talked about the nuances of enrolling in preschool institutions of the municipality with the head of the education department of the Kolomna urban district Larisa Lunkova.
– Larisa Nikolaevna, we all remember the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, according to which children from the age of three must be provided with a place in a kindergarten. Is this requirement fulfilled in Kolomna? Do all kids who have reached the age of three go to kindergarten?
– Yes, we try to provide a place in preschool for all children from the age of three. Today, in the Kolomna City District, more than three thousand children aged 1.5 to 7 years old are in an electronic queue to receive tickets to kindergartens. The electronic queue makes the process of enrolling a child in a preschool institution as transparent as possible, since parents get the opportunity to track its progress at any time. But you need to understand that the total number of children in the queue is constantly changing, for example, due to applications from beneficiaries or registration of newborns. And not all of the three thousand standing in it will need a place in the garden this particular year. In the acquisition process, the electronic system takes into account the age of the children and puts forward those who are about to turn three years old.
Although you can get to the kindergarten earlier. This is possible in those institutions where there are early age groups – for children one and a half to two years old. Currently, there are 56 kindergartens in the Kolomna City District, in which 26 early age groups work. But the number of such groups changes annually and directly depends on the number of kindergarten graduates, the number of applications, and the need for such groups. Therefore, it also happens that when applying for admission to a kindergarten, parents indicate the desired age of enrollment – two years, but they do not get into the kindergarten – precisely because groups for young children were not formed there. In such cases, you have to wait for an additional set.
– Many parents tend to put their child in day care immediately after birth. Does it help you get into kindergarten earlier?
– Of course, the earlier you get on the waiting list, the more likely it is that by the date indicated in the application there will be a place for the child in the institution. It is not necessary to wait until the baby is two months old. You can enroll a newborn in the kindergarten immediately after the parents have all the necessary documents in their hands. Currently, enrollment in a kindergarten is carried out through the MFC as part of the comprehensive service “birth of a child” through the portal of public services of the Moscow Region (RPGU).
– In the application, parents have the right to indicate the three desired kindergartens. How does the electronic queue take into account their wishes? What other factors can influence a child’s place in the queue?
– Yes, parents have the right to indicate the three kindergartens they want, but someone also indicates one. In the latter case, one must understand that it will take a little longer to wait for a place in a preschool institution. In addition, the registration of the child plays an important role. Each garden is assigned certain streets and houses. Therefore, when a parent submits documents, including information about the registration of the child, the electronic system automatically determines which kindergarten this or that house belongs to. Therefore, the baby is more likely to get into the kindergarten at the place of registration than in any other. I’ll give you an example. Imagine that a family living in Kolychev really wants to send their child to the Dolphin kindergarten, located in the central part of the city. Of course, there are chances to get there, but they are much less than for children living in the center. Parents should be prepared for the fact that their child will be the last to be enrolled in this kindergarten. Therefore, we recommend that you still do not refuse the ticket, even if it did not come from the kindergarten to which you would like to take your baby. There is always an opportunity to transfer to the desired garden a little later, when there are free places. In disputable cases, specialists of the Department of Education work directly with parents, together looking for solutions to problems. For example, if a mother needs to go to work urgently or ahead of schedule, but there are still no places in the kindergartens indicated in the application, we can look for places in other institutions, including kindergartens in the former Kolomensky district.
– After the introduction of the electronic queue in kindergartens, parents have a lot of questions. Why, for example, do children who were in 100th place on the list “jump” to 150th?
– One of the main points that affects the order of children in the electronic queue is inclusion in the existing list of beneficiaries. The list of privileged categories of citizens whose children are entitled to extraordinary or priority enrollment in kindergarten is quite large. First of all, children from large families, from families with a disabled child, children of police officers, military officers, judges, investigators and other law enforcement officers will go to kindergarten. Thus, when submitting documents to a preschool institution, a child who has a benefit automatically becomes higher on the list than other children who do not have it. For example, a military man’s family came to Kolomna with two children who needed a place in the garden. In this case, the baby with the status of “waiting without benefits” from the tenth position can immediately move to the twelfth. Currently, out of three thousand children waiting for a place in the kindergarten, about a thousand are beneficiaries.
– A few years ago, Kolomna, as well as the entire region, was faced with the problem of lack of places in kindergartens. What is the situation today? How high is the need for gardens?
– Due to the use of internal resources of kindergartens, the construction of new preschool institutions, the situation was changed for the better and the tension caused by the lack of places in kindergartens was relieved. But the problem has not been completely solved. There are still kindergartens where we cannot accept everyone. The situation is especially difficult in pre-school institutions in the city center. Nevertheless, we try to fulfill the task of accepting children who have reached the age of three.
There is no talk of new construction of preschool institutions yet. However, we are actively involved in the overhaul of kindergartens built before 1963 years old. Large funds are allocated for these purposes from both local and regional budgets. Since 2017, No. 2 Teremok, No. 43 Ryabinka, No. 7 Ladushki, as well as kindergartens of former military units No. 29 in Sosnovy Bor and No. 44 on Chernaya Rechka, have been renovated. The plan for this year is to renovate two more preschool institutions.
– Not so long ago, a survey was conducted in Kolomna kindergartens about the need to create round-the-clock stay groups. What are the monitoring results?
– Yes, we are considering the possibility of creating groups with children around the clock. This is a complex issue that requires detailed study. First you need to understand how high the need for children in such groups is. The monitoring showed that out of the total number of respondents, about 400 families are ready to take their children to groups with round-the-clock stay. We also received information in which districts of the district this need is the highest. These include, for example, the central part of Kolomna, Kolychevo. It is clear that it is irrational to create a round-the-clock group for the sake of three people, but where 10-15 children are ready to attend a group, its creation is possible. Therefore, we will work in this direction pointwise: to create groups in those kindergartens where there is the greatest need. Since rural kindergartens do not fully realize their capacity, it is logical to create several similar groups there as well.
– There is another problem. A few years ago, the work schedule of kindergartens changed, so many parents do not have time to pick up their children on time. Not all of us work until 17:00… If the issue of creating groups with round-the-clock stay is being decided, is it possible to extend the stay of children in kindergartens?
– We are thinking about it, but here it is important to understand that caregivers cannot stay after the working day and work for free. Therefore, we are considering the option of creating extended day groups on a commercial basis.

Formation of a healthy spine in a child
Each child is born with a completely flat back, which during the first year of life is significantly transformed – four bends appear (sacral, cervical, thoracic and lumbar). In order for each part of the spine to form correctly, children at a certain age need to lie on their tummy, then sit and crawl in time, and then stand.
Age modification of the spine
The sacrococcygeal section has a curve from birth, which is a consequence of being in the fetal position in the womb. The first kyphosis in the neck area appears even during breastfeeding, when the child raises and holds his head while in the crib.
Also useful is the so-called tummy time – laying the baby on the tummy.
In order for development to occur in a timely and physiological way, the right surface is needed. Moderately cushioning, pleasant, stable, not hard and not too soft. This is followed by the formation of thoracic kyphosis, which occurs at the age of 4-6 months. At this time, the child actively begins to master the sitting posture.
Learning this skill on a bed, on a hard floor, or on a woolen or cloth carpet is not recommended for several reasons:
no exercises on a hill – you can fall;
excessive softness makes it difficult for the child to try to sit upright;
the presence of pile and, as a result, the accumulation of dust in it. This can negatively affect the health of the child, who comes into contact with objects and then licks his hands, rubs his eyes, etc. ;
washing difficulty. Before each lesson, it is advisable to wash the carpet, ordinary products will not allow you to do this;
fabric or wool carpets will not soften the blow enough when the first attempt to sit down is unsuccessful;
SGS-certified Parklon specialty lint-free mats are firstly lint-free, making them easy to care for. There are lightweight models that you can take with you anywhere and solid solid PVC rugs that are suitable for the role of a modern carpet in the living room, and a developing rug for a child. They are warm and comfortable to sit on, waterproof and easy to clean.
Lumbar lordosis appears much later – at 8-12 months, when the child begins to walk. Bends occur under the influence of muscles that maintain the vertical position of the body.
Expert advice
There are frequent cases when mothers try by all means to accelerate the process of forming the curves of the spine, forcing the child to walk at too early an age. In such cases, doctors advise one thing – do not rush, because such seemingly good undertakings can end in failure. The reason is too large loads that the spine is not able to withstand.
The main recommendations are as follows:
up to 6-8 months, a child needs half an hour in a sitting position
do not teach to walk before the age – the time when the child is physically ready for this;
do not use the walker without a doctor’s prescription, or at least do not put the child there for a long time and before he learns to hold his back.
An eight-month-old child should not experience much pressure – just 20-30 minutes of daily exercise is enough for him to subsequently form the correct posture. Kyphosis is formed under the influence of muscles, therefore, with reduced muscle tone, physiotherapy and massage are recommended.
Experts advise not to panic if your child has begun to sit late or still does not walk confidently, despite his age. Much depends on genetics and other factors. Your task as a parent is to provide all the conditions for development. In a healthy baby, the right surface for laying out, sitting, crawling and first steps plays one of the most important roles in the issue of timely development. On our site you can choose a quality rug that will help the child to sit down, crawl and go on time to the delight of mom and dad.
In the future, it will be convenient to perform various exercises, massage, and just play with the child.
Orthopedist for the baby – articles from the specialists of the clinic “Mother and Child”
Bobrova Marina Igorevna
Obstetrician-gynecologist, Reproductologist
Clinic “Mother and Child” South-West
the sooner – the better
It would seem, why show the baby to an orthopedist, because he still does not sit, does not get up, does not walk. It turns out that there is no load on the bones and muscles, so it seems that the baby has nothing to look at yet. Some parents think so and for some reason are in no hurry to show their child to an orthopedist. Other moms and dads don’t go for counseling because they think their baby is developing normally. After all, he has no noticeable changes: his arms and legs are in place, seemingly of the same length, his back is even – it means that everything is in order with the baby. In fact, some diseases of the musculoskeletal system are not always obvious and are usually not noticeable to parents. And it is generally impossible to independently determine, for example, whether a baby has the same leg length without being a specialist. And even a pediatrician, if the pathology is not expressed, may not detect it, especially if the disease does not bother the child. But as the baby grows, orthopedic problems can intensify and cure the disease will be much more difficult than at an early age. Therefore, the newborn should be shown to the orthopedist as early as possible.
what the doctor sees
An orthopedist should be visited when the child is 1 month old, and then several more times – at 3, 6 and 12 months. At the first consultation, the doctor will carefully examine the baby, literally from top to toe, assess the size and shape of all parts of the body, also check how proportional and symmetrical they are to each other, and see how the arms and legs move. The orthopedist carefully examines all joints for mobility, he will especially carefully examine the hip joints and be sure to check whether the baby’s legs are the same length.
But even if there was no orthopedic pathology in 1 month, the baby still needs to be regularly shown to the doctor. During repeated examinations, some diseases can be identified that did not manifest themselves during the first visit to the doctor.
possible problems
What are the most serious diseases that an orthopedist should exclude in children of the first year of life?
– Hip dysplasia and congenital dislocation of the hip – these diseases occur due to congenital underdevelopment of the hip joint. If the disease is not detected in time, then it can progress rapidly, one leg will be much shorter than the other and the gait will be seriously disturbed. Pathology can be detected already in 1-3 months.
– Congenital torticollis – immediately after birth, it becomes noticeable that the baby’s head is constantly tilted to the side and to the side. Torticollis must be treated, otherwise the child develops asymmetry of the face, facial skull, shoulders, and spine.
– Congenital clubfoot – the baby’s feet “clubfoot” like a bear cub: e If the newborn could stand up, he would lean on the outer surface of the foot. Without treatment, if a child begins to walk on such legs, the deformation of the damaged foot intensifies, the relationship of bones is disturbed, gait and posture suffer, and difficulties arise with the selection of shoes.
These three major diseases should be detected as early as possible (and they can be detected as early as 1-3 months), because the sooner they are treated, the better the result will be.
we distribute the load
But even if the child has no orthopedic pathology, the doctor will still advise parents on what to do so that the bones and muscles of the baby develop properly. For example, even healthy children can often turn their heads to one side. This is usually because they are attracted to the side of the crib with a colorful toy or other interesting item. Often, parents simply do not notice this, but the orthopedist will immediately pay attention to which direction the child most often tilts his head. He will also quickly see how the child turns over – again in one direction or both. All this may be a variant of the norm, but sometimes it indicates that the child has a different muscle tone on the left and right. In this case, the orthopedist will advise massage, swimming and special exercises with an emphasis on a specific muscle group. The doctor will tell you how to strengthen other muscle groups: for example, the abdomen, back – all this will help the baby start sitting, getting up and walking in time in the future.
don’t rush the baby
The child is growing and seems to be ready to sit. He should sit down on his own at 7 months, stand on his feet – at 9, at 10-11 take the first steps, holding on to a support. Until this age, doctors recommend not to encourage the baby to sit or stand (it is especially harmful to put him in pillows). The bones and muscles of the baby are not yet ready for new movements, and if the child’s muscle corset does not have time to get stronger before he starts to sit down on his own, this can lead to a curvature of the spine. If the time has come, and the baby has not yet mastered a new skill, the orthopedist will tell you how to stimulate the baby (massage and gymnastics will help here again).
help with the first steps
When the child tries to take the first steps, the orthopedist will tell you what shoes to buy for the baby. It will help to evenly load the ankle joint, which means that the load will be distributed correctly on all other joints. Usually, doctors advise learning to walk not barefoot or in socks, booties, but in boots or shoes: leather, with a hard heel, small heels, lace-up or Velcro . If the baby has some kind of foot or ankle pathology, the orthopedist will select special shoes or orthopedic insoles.
Beautiful posture, strong bones, strong muscles, harmonious figure – is what parents want for their baby. And the orthopedist will help to achieve this, the main thing is – to get to him for a consultation on time.

Tips for Protecting Children from Environmental Threats
Hippie trail.
How flower children played real Indians.
1
A few months ago I read a phrase from the traveler Ilya Buyanovsky – the hippie trail. He wrote posts about Iran and casually mentioned such a phenomenon. Iran is undeniably interesting, but it was the topic of hippie travel that excited me much more.
Yes, I was aware that various musical figures were skating for the exotic. For example, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin visited Morocco. The Beatles visited India for spiritual enlightenment. And the great drummer Ginger Baker did live for some time in Nigeria. But it’s one thing when you’re a musician with astronomical income, and quite another when you’re an ordinary person who does not travel on charter flights. Let’s try to talk about such people and their routes. For starters, take a look at the route map.
2
Actually, this route was called “The Hippie Trail”, or “The Overland”. The map clearly shows that the first point in it was Istanbul. From there, a journey began, sometimes several years long. No, of course, the vast majority were limited to a few weeks, but there were guys who stayed to live in other countries for a long time. Moreover, there are cases when some passengers converted to Islam. Take a look at these young ladies. Beauties, after all, look like herbivores.
3
4
Meanwhile, these young ladies traveled thousands of kilometers, and their passport could look like this.
5
Overcome without the Internet, without a specific route and modern comfort. Focusing somewhere on word of mouth, somewhere on the questions of local residents. Traveling at that time was an adventure. By the way, I read here somehow the revelations of males who swept in the reserved seat for a couple of days, and they were proud of themselves as if they had conquered Everest. Once again I am convinced that everything in this world is relative.
Actually, returning to the hippie trail, it is worth noting that in the 60s and 70s it was traveled in different ways. Someone was driving his car, and someone was buying entire bus tours. Here, for example, is the beginning of the route. The bus rides in Austria.
6
And this so-called “Magic Bus” is already somewhere in Iran.
7
There was an atmosphere inside the buses.
8
9
If you look closely at the faces, you can clearly see that hippies did not make up the majority on trips. Firstly, such tourist trips were not cheap. And there can be no question of any brotherhood here. It’s one thing to smoke a joint together and quite another to spend thousands of dollars on transportation. Tours were expensive. Secondly, not only hippies loved to wander around the world.
As I said, in addition to buses, there was the option of traveling in your own car. Here are the guys in Cappadocia on a private vehicle.
10
And this gentleman is already in Sri Lanka. This car was used for a rally from Australia to England.
11
Although most, of course, rode buses, or with the help of hitchhiking. The last method is the most radical for the 60s and 70s. True, the case is known when one Irish woman completely rode the trail on a bicycle, but this is rather an exception to the general picture.
12
13
14
15
Pay attention to this campground. The picture was taken on the border of Lebanon and Syria. Clearly, the children of flowers are not depicted here.
16
However, there are enough photos of classic hippies.
17
18
19
Why did you go? Everything is simple here. Someone for impressions, someone for drugs. Well, or to combine business with pleasure. Personally, I have always thought that traveling is wonderful. You can even go to the neighboring regional center and see a lot of interesting things, and even plunge into another culture is a good thing.
20
21
22
Some countries travelers tried to get through as quickly as possible. For example, Iran. But in others they stayed for a long time. Afghanistan was in particular demand. India and Nepal were a bonus. In Nepal, by the way, specialty shops with hashish were opened. There it was sold quite legally until the 70s.
23
Afghanistan conquered tourists with its stunning views.
24
25
26
27
Although the way of life there also could not but please drug lovers.
28
29
30
As some travelers recall, there were quite a few of them who became addicted to drugs. Well, any hepatitis was a bonus.
31
This is a picture from Pakistan. They also sometimes stopped by on their way to India.
32
Well, this is India itself. As travelers later recalled, Afghanistan, India and Nepal were havens for hash lovers. The shop was closed in the late 70s. Somewhere the ruling regimes have changed, and it has become difficult for Western tourists to enter some countries, somewhere the war has even begun. Plus, the development of aviation influenced the hippie trail. Today it is easier and, most importantly, cheaper to buy an air ticket than to trudge through several countries on the ground. True, air travel completely kills all romance. After all, isn’t it wonderful to drive from foggy London several thousand kilometers on the ground and plunge into the waters of the Ganges? The picture was taken in Varanasi.
38
Now only memories, legends and photographs remain of the hippie trail. For example, this is how the guys rested in Goa. Late 70s.
39
40
41
42
I wonder if people with small children were dragged there by land or by plane?
43
Finding musicians in some of the pictures, I was really glad that some eminent uncles even came to perform there.
44
Alas, I did not find any of the large groups. Here in the picture are some “The Anjuna Jam Band”.
45
And this is some “The Gilbert Garcia Band”.
46
Above I mentioned that some hippies stayed in India forever. Here is one such respectable gentleman. Goa Gil was born in San Francisco but moved to the other side of the planet in 1969. By the way, it is interesting that my uncle works as a DJ and occasionally tours other countries. In the 00s, he even visited Moscow.
For those who want to see other hippies stuck in India, I recommend watching the film “Hippie Masala: Forever in India”. A very sad and depressing thread.
47
Finally, I can’t help but draw an analogy with the USSR. Naturally, there were no options to leave the Union and follow the classic hippie path. And I’m not sure that anyone from domestic hippies knew about her at all. But on the other hand, the USSR had its own “Soviet California” called Crimea. It was there that hippies flocked from the Baltic states, Minsk, Kyiv, Moscow, Siberia and other vast expanses of a huge power. Now, if someone advises something on this topic from literature or documentaries, I would be grateful.
That’s all for today. Thank you for your attention and do not forget to subscribe to my poison. See you again.

Ubud Artists’ Trail – A Romantic Walk, Bali
Bali Artists’ Trail is a romantic walk of about 2 kilometers between rice fields in Ubud. The Artists’ Trail is a Russian-language name, in Bali it sounds like Campuhan Bukit – Champuan Hill, and in English – Campuhan Ridge Walk. I will call it the Path of Artists. 🙂
The Artists’ Trail is one of the interesting places in Ubud to visit, as well as the Monkey Forest if you want to experience Ubud. Walking slowly between the rice fields, looking at the houses in the distance, enjoying the bright colors of the greenery around – you can get all this on a relaxing walk along the Artists’ Trail.

How to get to Ubud Artists Trail
The Artists Trail is located in Ubud, so first you need to drive to Ubud. Public transport in Bali is not very developed, so you can get here on a rented moped or car, as well as as part of an excursion. We got to the Artists’ Trail on a moped. The road from our hotel in Kuta Legian Bliss Surfer Hotel took about 2 hours.
Artists’ Trail – our visit and impressions
The Artists’ Trail is free to visit, and the first thing you’ll see as you approach the trail is the Pura Gunung Lebah temple. To the right of it, the Path of Artists begins.
Artists’ trail is about 2 kilometers long and at the end of the trail there is just a cafe where you can eat and relax a little, as you will have to go this trail again, but in the opposite direction 🙂 So be prepared to walk 4-5 km, I recommend wearing comfortable shoes, taking water and a Panama hat with you, as there will be nowhere to hide from the sun.
The path is comfortable, there is an asphalt surface, it is not difficult to walk. As soon as you pass the temple, which is at the very beginning of the trail, you will come to a place where to your right there will be many different houses on a hill, at the bottom of which a river flows.
The views are very beautiful, everything is surrounded by bright greenery. People living in such houses probably really like living here, getting out of bed every morning and seeing the riot of greenery.
This is the main part of the path, which can often be seen on the Internet or on brochures that entice you on a tour. In general, there should have been tall and bright green rice to the left and right of me 🙂, but since we were in October, and this is just the last month of the dry season, the vegetation at this time in Bali is dry, yellowish, as soon as it rains, everything will be green again. Anyway, it was very interesting for me to walk along such a Path of Artists in the very heart of Ubud, although, to be honest, sometimes the thought appeared that I was just going somewhere for dachas in our Russia in a very dry summer, of course, if you remove the palm trees. 🙂
This path goes for about a kilometer, then various houses and workshops begin to appear, small shops to the left and right of the Artists’ Trail, many flowers appear.
And there is a slight feeling that the path has ended, and you are walking somewhere along the shopping streets of Ubud.
But we walked to the very end, although, as usual, we arrived in the very sun, and it was quite difficult to walk in the heat.
At the end of the trail, Karsa cafe was waiting for us, although, I think, we could have gone even further, but, to be honest, we no longer had the strength, all the more we had to go back through the same heat.
We had a great rest in the cafe, ordered fresh juice and coconut – oh, I love coconuts! We cooled off a little in the shade and under the fans. The cafe offers a beautiful view of the rice terraces.
And also unusual Balinese houses with interesting roofs. 🙂

Message from the Chairman of the Local Council
Karnei Shomron is an urban village located west of Gush Dan, in a wooded area with great views of the neighboring hills. At the foot of the village is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Israel – the Nahal Kana Nature Reserve.
Karnei Shomron consists of seven distinctive districts that create a kind of “cultural landscape” that combines a high standard of living in an urban-type settlement and village life in nature.
These “Cultural Landscapes” are filled with their unique content and diversity of self-expression, which is manifested in the system of values, in the originality of educational programs, in culture, in public life, in combining the life values of the settlement in general and its inhabitants in particular, in creating the appearance and the image of the settlement, its districts and self-government bodies, in their integration with the surrounding nature, in the prosperity of the settlement and its attractiveness and uniqueness, which allows it to become a regional center.
Today, Karnei Shomron has a population of approximately 11,000 and aspires to become one of the finest urban-type settlements in Israel, providing residents with a full range of educational, cultural and social services, social and religious services, family relations and health, construction , infrastructure, design and development, maintenance, security, maintenance of cleanliness and improvement of the entire village and its individual areas. In addition, the range of services includes educational, cultural and sports events held in the public and cultural center of Karnei Shomron. It has a sports center with all the necessary attributes, a youth center, a training center to improve the level of adult education, and, of course, there is a large selection of circles and sections for all ages, the Golden Age club and much, much more …
Karnei Shomron has been on the rise in recent years. A new modern school is being built and existing ones are being expanded, fast internet infrastructure is being laid, housing projects are being developed, roads and bike paths are being built, shopping centers, an amphitheater, a swimming pool, a new sports hall are being built . ..
Karnei Shomron Local Council focuses on improving interaction with residents and the provision of quality and professional services by all departments of the Local Council in various areas.
Residents can use the 106 call center and a website where they can get information about the village and answers to their questions.
Yours sincerely,
Yigal Lahav,
Chairman of the Local Council
Karnei Shomron Education: the largest educational center in Shomron
Department of Education
90 004 The Department of Education aims to create an educational and community environment in which maximum attention to the upbringing of children.
Department of Education
Full range of educational services:
Nursery
Karney Shomron has a full range of educational institutions for children from birth to maturity.
The nursery is accountable to the Department of Education and supervised by experienced teachers.
There are 7 nurseries in the village, staffed by professional and well-trained staff. The activities of these staff are supervised by a specialist specializing in this age group of children, as well as an early childhood education instructor.
The nursery has a child development screening program operated by the child development center that examines the development of children in the early stages. The nursery is visited by physiotherapists and speech therapists who train staff in the necessary skills and refer parents of children in need of assistance to the center.
Kindergartens:
There are 32 kindergartens in the village. We are convinced that all children should get everything they need, which is why in recent years we have opened 2 communicative kindergartens and 4 kindergartens for children with special needs.
Children with communication difficulties and children with special needs receive the necessary care in kindergartens from professional staff, as well as the opportunity to interact with ordinary kindergartens, which allows them to maintain close relationships between them.
Many kindergartens in the village have unique programs such as “Robotics”, “Forest Days”, “Scientific Garden”, “Theatre Garden” and many others.
The OP program is a program that aims to reduce disparities in the quality of children’s education. This program is designed to develop children’s ability to control emotions and the ability to express them, and also builds self-confidence. The program provides interaction with parents and encourages them to identify their child’s abilities in different areas. As part of the OR program, specialists in the field of child psychology are sent to kindergartens to work with children and parents.
Primary schools:
There are 4 primary schools in the village
Rimon School is a public school for the secular population.
Lapidim School for Girls, Barkai School for Boys and Masua School for Boys and Girls.
Primary schools in Karnei Shomron are undergoing major pedagogical changes to meet the demands of learning in the 21st century. This process is controlled by the best specialists in the field of education and this is done in accordance with all the requirements of modern pedagogy.
Many educational and educational projects are carried out in schools, the goal of which is to achieve the highest possible results in all areas of education.
Mamad Barkai School (1st to 8th grade):
The purpose of the school is to instill in students a love of God, piety, prayer and Torah study, as well as to develop personal and interpersonal study skills, striving for high achievement in all areas of education.
The curriculum in “Barkai” is based on the words of the sages: “Five-year-olds – Tanakh, ten-year-olds – Mishnah . ..”. Its goal is to give students knowledge about most of the books of the TANAKH, the children memorize together what they learn from the pages of the TANAKH, and this creates an atmosphere of friendly affection between them.
Barkai believes that the basis of learning should be the emotional component, which is a unifying and connecting link between students and the Torah and their spiritual world. The school emphasizes the strong connection between students and teachers, with an emphasis on the fact that this connection allows you to achieve the best results.
The study of the Torah in “Barkai” is considered the basis of learning and the basis for the study of other subjects, based on the saying “It is good if you adhere to one, but do not take your hand off the other.”
Masua School (1st to 6th grade):
This year the school is experiencing a real upsurge and is opening its doors to new students – boys and girls. Education will be conducted in separate classrooms for boys and girls.
The goal of the school is to educate a generation of believing students who strive to excel in religious and secular subjects, who want to contribute to the development of society and the state.
The school “went on an exciting journey” by joining an experimental program of innovative pedagogy that adapts to a rapidly changing reality. In the upcoming academic year, the school will move to a new modern building, adapted to the new requirements.
An individual curriculum adapted to the abilities of each student, instilling learning skills, developing research thinking, as well as communication skills – all this is part of the learning process associated with addressing the inner world of the student, developing his curiosity and motivation to study.
The school implements projects to introduce social and educational values into the minds of students.
There is also the so-called “peace room”, where individual and group psychological therapy of students is carried out under the supervision of a consultant psychologist, a representative of the local administration. In this room, individual and group psychological sessions are held with an emphasis on instilling communication skills.
The school has a Torah study program run by the school rabbi and alumni of Yeshivat Esder.
School “Lapidim” (1st to 6th grade):
School for girls who are trained in the spirit of holiness of the Torah. They are brought up in the spirit of decency and virtue, and at the same time with the desire to excel in all academic disciplines.
Education, especially at a young age, is not only the pursuit of good grades, but above all the education of moral principles in the minds of children, as well as the necessary learning skills, the desire to invest strength and energy in the learning process.
The atmosphere at school inspires girls, they are treated with understanding, respect for the internal processes that occur with each of them, but without violating the overall structure of the learning process and striving to achieve maximum results in school. The attitude towards girls is shrouded in love and faith.
New educational and upbringing projects are being introduced at the school.
The school has a program “PERAH”, in which the students conduct individual lessons with some students.
Rimon Secular School (1st to 6th grade):
The school provides comprehensive learning solutions for each student and provides them with the necessary educational tools to enter the future. “Rimon” is a boutique school with small classes, which allows more attention to individual learning. The school has built one-level and two-level classrooms, which have all the necessary teaching materials, with the help of which schoolchildren study independently, each in a suitable rhythm for themselves.
The school is committed to the ideals of Zionism and liberalism and Jewish traditions.
The pedagogical concept of the school is based on three principles:
schoolchildren receive basic general education subjects, such as language, mathematics, the basics of sociology, economics, and others.
Acquisition of self-study skills – such as: working together, the ability to accumulate knowledge in various areas and to properly allocate time.
acquisition of social skills – the ability to conduct a dialogue, make the right choice, the ability to behave in conflict situations.
As part of the general concept of the daily routine of students, the school has a canteen where students receive a hot lunch.
In addition, various clubs work at the school outside school hours.
There is also the so-called “peace room”, where individual and group psychological therapy of students is carried out under the supervision of a consultant psychologist, a representative of the local administration.
Among other things, the school is engaged in expanding the horizons of students and instilling different skills in the lessons of chess, agriculture, ball control, etc.
In recent years, we have noticed that many students are forced to leave the village for special education, so we have created a whole complex of kindergartens and special education classes so that students can stay within the village without being separated from their friends . In this way, they can integrate and continue to make friends and play with other children of their age without leaving the community.
Today in Karnei Shomron there are:
2 communicative kindergartens
4 kindergartens for children with developmental delays
3 communicative classes
9 classes for lagging children.
Children completing primary schools in the village continue their studies in accordance with their lifestyle:
religious boys enter Yeshivat HaShomron located in the village
religious girls continue their education at Ulpan “LAHAVA” in Kdumim
secular students continue their studies at the secondary school in Alfei Menashe.
Yeshivat HaShomron:
Yeshiva Bnei Akiva in Samaria is an educational and educational center for the youth of Samaria. Yeshiva is characterized by an individual attitude to each student and a pleasant homely atmosphere.
We educate our students in piety, love for the Torah, high morals, right living and the desire to achieve academic success.
Social projects are carried out in the yeshiva, active social activities are carried out in various fields.
A significant part of the day in the yeshiva is devoted to the study of Gmara/Tanakh in accordance with the curriculum. Yeshiva has a wide range of specializations, such as:
Yeshiva received an award from the Ministry of Education as one of the most successful schools in Israel due to the high percentage of student volunteers acting for the benefit of the community in various organizations such as “Ilan” (an organization that helps children who have experienced violence) “Nofshon Shomron” (an organization helping families with special needs) and others, as well as due to the high percentage of graduates who receive a matriculation certificate.
Yeshiva has special programs for high achievers and poor students.
MAFTEAH

Choosing a school when moving to the US / Sudo Null IT News
Many people with children who are planning to move to the US have heard about the need to carefully choose their area of residence. It is especially important to understand which schools belong to the chosen address.
After the move, the head is usually spinning and there is no time to sort out the intricacies. It is important to understand and remember the following: websites of real estate agencies and aggregators like Zillow do not provide up-to-date and correct information about whether a particular address belongs to a particular school!
Below is a step-by-step guide to identifying schools associated with a specific address and analyzing those schools.
First, a small cheat sheet (information may vary slightly for different states):
Elementary School – c K (Kindergarten) to 5th grade (from 5/6 to 10/11 years old)
Middle School – c 6 1st to 8th grade (11 to 14/15 years old)
High School – 9th to 12th grade (15 to 18 years old)
K-8 – combined Elementary + Middle, more common in new development areas and sparsely populated areas.
Charter school – charter schools. Private schools funded by the state. They require a separate story. In short, a good charter school is chosen by lot. Therefore, they cannot be guided as a “default” school
Magnet school – specialized schools with additional subjects.
Sometimes it is possible to study in one school for all ages K-12 (often in different cases). It is important to understand that in this case, the school ratings will most often refer to High School.
In any case, you need to carefully read and check all the information in each case.
1) By far one of the most convenient sites for finding real estate is www.zillow.com
You can start your search from there. The interface of the site is intuitive, but the boundaries of the districts related to schools are not completely and not always correct.
For the initial review, you can make a filter by the rating of schools by turning off private, charter schools and choosing a rating of more than 7. Decent areas are already visible by the concentration of good schools. Please note that Zillow uses data from the www.greatschools.org website, the interpretation of which is a separate conversation.
So, we roughly determined the area where we want to live. Having turned on the filter by the price of rent or purchase, we are sadly convinced that there are very few options.
But it is important to make sure that the options that we have are suitable for us.
View information about the selected object:
In this case, the work of checking the correctness of information about the school was done by the agent. And his information confirms Zillow’s data. This is a rather rare option, but even in this case, I recommend making sure the information is correct.
Another picture is more often seen:
Here is a strange situation. Only Elementary and Middle are listed on Zillow. The agent gives three schools, but the Middle school is different.
Let’s try to figure it out and find these schools
Go to the next step:
2) Determine the County we are interested in.
County is the smallest autonomous territorial unit in the United States. There are more than 3000 of them in total. They are responsible for the schools in their territory. The biggest problem is that counties most often have unique websites, systems of registration, accounting, etc.
Very often, counties divide one city into several parts. Sometimes in quite unexpected ways. Orlando (FL) split example:
As you can see, Orlando is divided into 3 counties. And 3 more counties cover the outlying suburbs.
You can determine the county using the service www.getzips.com/zip.htm or similar.
I’m sure everyone knows what a ZIP is, but let me remind you that this is a five-digit postal code, usually indicated at the end of the address, after the state name. In the examples above, ZIP 32828 and 32746.
On the resource above, we make sure that this is Orange County and Seminole County
3) We are looking for a link to a service for determining whether schools belong to an address. Due to the fact that the sites of all counties are different and saturated with information, it is often difficult to quickly find the way to the service. The easiest option is to type a request in Google, like: “ orange county school enrollment ”
Google will helpfully slip the desired link. We go through it and fill out the form. It seems that everything is obvious here, but here the lack of a unified approach begins to affect and bugs and glitches appear. Sometimes there is sensitivity to case, extra spaces, etc.
If a particular house fails to “break through”, you need to check a couple of neighbors, taking the address from the same Zillow.
There is also an alternative option – to find a map of school zones on the county website, but there it is often difficult to clearly define the boundaries.
Fill in and get the list of schools:
takes children from kindergarten to 8th grade inclusive.
For Seminole County, the picture is completely different:
Please note that the real situation does not match either the agent data or the Zillow website data.
Moreover, some Region2 is specified for Elementary. This means that several Elementary schools are linked to this address at once. We get a specific list by clicking on the link:
Specifically, for the 2nd region – three Elementary at once, and one of them is Magnet – i.e. with specialization.
Unfortunately, these schools usually differ greatly in quality. Parents can choose, but when places run out in a good school, lottery begins. In short, if there is a bad school on the list, and you start studying from the middle of the year, the chances are very high that you will end up in the worst one, since there will no longer be places in good schools.
Now we need to check the quality of schools. To do this, go to the next step.
4) We break through the school on rating sites. In the US, there are several popular school evaluation websites that differ in their methods. It is worth paying attention to the following:
Every site has pros and cons. The analysis of the school on all sites allows you to get an integrated assessment.
Luckily, Google does the crawling:
Note that Schooldigger is the least popular site and doesn’t always rank on the first page. But, in this case, we were lucky and the links go in a row.
Another problem is that due to the popularity of some names, there may be several schools with the same name in different states. We need to keep a close eye on this, paying attention to County.
Let’s try to consider the result.
5) Niche.com
It is Niche that many realtors are guided by when they promise “A-rated School”
However, the problem is that the Niche rating is integral and only partially depends on academic success. It can be seen that this school has A + only for diversity. The ethnic composition is implied: Latinos, Black American, etc.
See below for more details:
Also an important indicator “Free or Reduced Lunch” is an indirect indicator of income level. The lower this figure, the better.
6) Now let’s see Greatschool
Here the score is on a 10-point scale. 4/10 – bad.
This site has the most reviews, where parents and students rate the school. This also needs to be paid attention to.
If you watch the school on 9/10 or 10/10, read the reviews carefully. Parents often complain that they put a lot of pressure on their children to get good grades. They describe bullying, etc.
7) And, finally, the least popular rating on schooldigger.
I like this site because it is the most convenient way to view academic results. The position of the school in the overall ranking throughout the state is also visible: 1451 places out of all 2118 Elementary schools in all of Florida. Badly.
Apparently, the realtor in this case tried to mislead.
Indeed at “4540 Messina Dr, Lake Mary, FL 32746” there is a small chance of getting into a good Lake Mary Elementary School, but a much higher chance of getting into a bad Wicklow Elementary.

Our Gilbert, AZ Leadership Team
Ms. Veronica
Program Director
Hello! My name is Veronica and I have been with Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Gilbert, AZ at Higley since we opened in 2019. I started as head teacher, and I am excited to be your Program Director. I absolutely love cultivating relationships with the children and their families as well as our staff.
I have an Associate in Business Management and obtained my Child Development Associate Certificate. I continue to educate myself on social and emotional learning as I believe there is a lasting impact these skills have that follows children into both their adolescent and adult lives.
On a personal note, after living in California for 25 years I moved to Arizona, with my daughter, to be closer to my parents. We’ve been living in Arizona for six years and the one thing I cannot get enough of are the sunsets. They are truly magnificent! When not working I enjoy movies, music, shopping, crafting, and hanging out with my teenage daughter and our little dog that we rescued. I drink iced coffee daily and still take naps when I can.
Ms. Mary
Assistant Director
Hello! My name is Mary, and I am so excited to be the Assistant Director at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Gilbert at Higley. I have been with Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool since February 2022. I started as head teacher, and I have always enjoyed working with children and am excited to continue to do so.
I have experience with all ages in child care and continue to educate myself to have a lasting impact on the children and families in my care. I have worked in childcare for 10 years and three of those years were focused on teaching pre-k children.
I have lived in Arizona all my life. Although the heat can be tough, I love our winter seasons! Outside of work I enjoy reading, watching tv shows with my husband, shopping, and cuddling with our dog!

What Our Higley Families Are Saying
Amanda
Our daughter has attended LSP Higley since they opened and she was 6 months old. A year later we are so amazed at her development. She is so well taken care of and learning so much every day. Her current teacher is wonderful and a great communicator which makes things so easy! The head teachers are outstanding as well! It truly feels like family is taking care of our little girl. I couldn’t recommend it any more highly.
Ashley
We have been taking our son to LSP Higley since it opened and I can’t say enough good things about it! The things he does each day are so awesome, he really enjoys his time there and I love the structure they give. Getting to see his day in the LuvNotes they send is refreshing and makes us feel like we know what happens at school. His current teacher is really helping him navigate his two-year-old life! They are nurturing and communicative with us. We couldn’t be happier!
Valerie
I tried a couple of different daycares and Montessori’s in the area but they were so bad I took my baby out and hired an educated child development nanny to care for my babies. Then LSP was opened in our area and I really wanted my girls to have more experience/social time with other children. So I took the leap by becoming one of the Founding Families. I’m very particular and they exceed my expectations daily!! I couldn’t be happier with the experience, teaching, development, and amazing teachers. My girl’s teachers are top-notch and go above and beyond!

Gilbert Hill: a prehistoric monolith in the middle of Mumbai that remembers India as an island
In India’s most populous city, Mumbai, not only concrete skyscrapers rise up. In the suburbs to the north of it is a huge basalt column 60 meters high. Surrounded on three sides by residential buildings of about the same height, this monolith is called Gilbert Hill and is virtually invisible to anyone but its immediate neighbors.
A skyscraper millions of years old
Gilbert Hill is the oldest skyscraper in Mumbai. It formed about 66 million years ago, when India was still an island, drifting south of the equator and slowly approaching the Eurasian Plate. Just 15 million years later (and this is a short time in the time scale of geology), the Indian plate joined with the Eurasian plate in such a powerful collision that the highest mountain system in the world, the Himalayas, grew at the junction.
66 million years ago, this region of west-central India was volcanically active. A series of strong eruptions flooded the entire neighborhood with lava. Later, the lava solidified, forming a huge basalt plateau two kilometers thick.
Further geological transformations
This plateau, today known as the Deccan Traps, originally covered 1.5 million square kilometers, about half of modern India. Erosion and tectonic processes have reduced the size of the plateau to its current size of half a million square kilometers, which is still impressive.
The timing of these volcanic eruptions corresponds to the mass extinction of species during the Cretaceous period, including dinosaurs. This led scientists to speculate that the eruptions that formed the Deccan traps and released gas accumulations may have contributed to the extinction of these prehistoric creatures.
Although the scientific community favors the meteorite that wiped out the dinosaurs, some believe that both the meteorite and volcanic activity contributed to their extinction.
National Treasure of India
Gilbert Hill is a reminder of that old era. Geologists believe that the monolith was formed when lava was “squeezed out” between cracks in the plateau. As it cooled, it formed vertical columns instead of horizontal layers. These rectangular and hexagonal structures are known as basalt pillars or laccoliths. There are only a few places on the planet where these geological structures can be found. Devil’s Tower and Devil’s Pillars in the USA and the Giant’s Trail in Northern Ireland are some examples of basalt pillars.
Gilbert Hill was declared a national park in 1952. However, the current state of this miracle of nature shows that its legal status has not changed much. At the top of the pillar are two temples, to which stairs lead. The vegetation that used to surround this hill has now given way to buildings and a filthy slum.
little known attraction
People who live near this geological monument hardly remember it: they are too concerned about their own survival. The only people who visit this place are scientists, historians and temple ministers.
Few people in India know about this natural site. In geography lessons at school, students are not told about Gilbert Hill. Tourist trips also do not include visiting this attraction.
It is still unknown where Gilbert Hill got its name from. Some argue that it was named after the American geologist Grove Carl Gilbert, who coined the term “laccolith”. Others believe that the hill was named after a certain British officer who served in the region.
For years, local residents have been asking the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation to build a protective wall around this monolith and make it a tourist attraction. But all requests were, unfortunately, ignored. Although the hilltop sanctuaries are in themselves an intrusion into his territory, they also become, as it were, his guardians.
A few years ago, a local developer proposed demolishing the hill to make more space for building houses. This proposal was categorically rejected by the temple trustees. These two sanctuaries today are the only thing that protects the geological wonder of Gilbert Hill from complete destruction.

It is hard to explain what made me stop dead in the middle of the wide pavement along which I so carelessly (at least when viewed from the side) paced a moment ago, but as soon as I stopped, my eyes immediately fell on the sign with the name of the street, affixed to the low brick wall of the garden—I don’t know if it was because that sign was the reason for my sudden stop, or because it just popped up in front of my eyes. It turned out that the street was called Fitzjones Avenue. For a moment I was at a loss, as if I could not decide whether or not to be amazed at the fact that I was still in Hampstead, although at a considerable distance from home, but still not on the other side of London or at all. god knows where. Evidently, having stepped outside the gate of my own garden, for some unknown reason, which cannot even be called a cause in the ordinary sense of the word, I did not direct my steps in the direction of Heath, as was always the custom, but instead turned off somewhere to the side, most likely to Frognal Rise, then some detour of which I have the most vague recollection – was it Church Road I was on? — nearly left Hampstead altogether. To tell the truth, I left the house without any particular purpose, driven by a simple nervous desire to “go out for a breath”, and without noticing it myself, I got to that part of Fitzjones Avenue, where she, as they say, “slows down” before how to merge into the ocean of the metropolis stretching in front of her. It was then that I felt, albeit “subconsciously”, that my path was longer and straighter than the cozy and familiar confusion of Hampstead streets lit by lanterns with all their “passages”, “alleys” and “dead ends”, and then some, as yet unknown to science the internal organ responsible for orientation in space made me stop and look around.
There were no passers-by on the sidewalks on both sides of the street, and no traffic was noticed either. There is almost nothing on Fitzjones Avenue but residential buildings – large and elegant mansions, not always welcoming, separated from the street by unkempt (and sometimes downright neglected) gardens and surrounded by red brick fences, sometimes so high that it is hidden from the curious look of a passerby. everything but the ridge of the roof, or senselessly low, so that the whole house can be seen, from the porch to the chimney, and sometimes half collapsed and partially replaced by blackened plank fences. From time to time here you can stumble upon a church, an orphanage, or a boarding school. However, I did not notice any of this, for, moving with unusual haste, I was occupied exclusively with myself and did not pay attention to the landscape around me. And only now I felt an overbearing desire to find out where I was.
The house in front of which I happened to stop, with the infamous sign affixed to the garden fence, differed from neighboring houses in that it looked fairly new, or at least recently painted. The combination of its Dutch or, rather, pseudo-Dutch architecture and a well-groomed garden with an alpine slide left an amusing toy impression, which was further enhanced by the index of the house number on the gate. It was a simple lacquered tablet, which reminded me of the palette used by the old masters (although the shape was, of course, completely different), and the number was carved on it, not in numbers, but in the words: “Forty-Three A.” I could not help thinking that such sophistication was more befitting a rich country house than a modest Hampstead mansion.
However, the garden intrigued me even more. Naively symmetrical in layout, it was adorned with plants in tubs and flowers planted in flower beds, but I, a writer so often praised for the richness of the dictionary, did not know the name of any of the species represented. Except, of course, for the tree that the owner erected on the most honorable, in his opinion, place – do not believe it, but it was a palm tree.
Behind all this, undoubtedly, there was a desire to inject a bit of exotic into the dull leafless stone desert of northwest London, to turn the unfortunate lonely palm tree into a symbol and synecdoche of warmth and snow, which the everyday English landscape is completely devoid of. But this tree, for inexplicable reasons, made a completely opposite and extremely unpleasant impression on me. Carefully laid out around the base, a row of white pebbles and an ornament of turquoise and yellow flowers, reminiscent of a pattern on a woman’s jacket, only emphasized how alien this palm tree is to the surrounding landscape. It reminded me not so much of distant exotic lands as of Torquay, the dull pearl of what is called the “English Riviera” – the notorious Torquay with its palm-fringed boardwalks and mini-golf courses. The unfortunate plant aroused in me the same squeamish sympathy that a circus elephant, trained to stand on its hind legs, arouses.
Actually, there was nothing so unusual about the palm tree on the Hampstead lawn, and anyone in my place would have only given it a cursory glance, but it just so happened that it was she (and if not she, then something else ) allowed me at last to pour out my contempt for the world and its boundless vulgarity in a low but distinct curse that I had nurtured in my soul from the very moment I left home: “Damn all the journalists in the world!”
I was born on blessed 193 years old, but writing (much to the amazement of my fellow students and teachers at Cambridge, who expected me to make rapid progress) began rather late. In my senior year, I was orphaned; this tragedy left me with a considerable fortune, and I had no need to earn a living by literary expression of any kind, so that until the very end of the sixties I made the world happy with only one short and unremarkable study on sixteenth-century mannerist artists – it was not much more, but rather, much less than what one would expect from a deeply gifted person, which everyone considered me to be.
