AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Marshalee Drive KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks-1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1-2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2-3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3-4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4-5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Kindergarten Programs (5-6 Years)

Welcome to kindergarten: the gateway to grade school and everything that
comes next! Offered in select centers, our kindergarten programs have small
class sizes and curriculums that mix learning and fun. The basic building
blocks of reading, writing, math, and science are key in kindergarten, so we
make sure they get lots of practice in all of these areas.

Before- and After-School Programs (5-12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3-12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2-4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2-4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • We have been a part of the Elkridge KinderCare location since 2007. The wonderful teachers and management team have helped us raise smart, caring and well mannered children who love to learn! We work together as a team when our children are having both great and not so great days! The Elkridge KinderCare Team is awesome!!

    J.

    Reeves – KinderCare Parent

  • We are so grateful that we found KinderCare for our son who is just under two-years-old. My son initially had a negative experience at a different center. Once we moved our son to KinderCare, we could tell that he was having a much better experience. The staff members at KinderCare were very patient with him and helped him adjust to his new classroom. After a few short days it was very clear to us that he was comfortable in his classroom, enjoyed playing with new friends, was developing trusting relationships with the staff, and was learning new skills. We haven’t had any problems since he’s been going to KinderCare. The peace of mind having him there while I am at work has been priceless.

Taxonomies of the Cognitive Domain – Office of the Provost

1. Knowledge:

Remembering or retrieving previously learned material. Examples of verbs that relate
to this function are:

  • know, identify, relate, list, define, recall, memorize, repeat, record, name, recognize,
    acquire

1. Remembering:

Recognizing or recalling knowledge from memory. Remembering is when memory is used
to produce or retrieve definitions, facts, or lists, or to recite previously learned
information.

2. Comprehension:

The ability to grasp or construct meaning from material. Examples of verbs that relate
to this function are:

  • restate, locate, report, recognize, explain, express, identify, discuss, describe,
discuss, review, infer, illustrate, interpret, draw, represent, differentiate, conclude

2. Understanding:

Constructing meaning from different types of functions be they written or graphic
messages or activities like interpreting, exemplifying, classifying, summarizing,
inferring, comparing, or explaining.

3. Application:

The ability to use learned material, or to implement material in new and concrete
situations. Examples of verbs that relate to this function are:

  • apply, relate, develop, translate, use, operate,
organize, employ, restructure, interpret, demonstrate, illustrate, practice, calculate,
    show, exhibit, dramatize

3. Application:

The ability to use learned material, or to implement material in new and concrete
situations. Examples of verbs that relate to this function are:

4. Analysis:

The ability to break down or distinguish the parts of material into its components
so that its organizational structure may be better understood. Examples of verbs that
relate to this function are:

  • analyze, compare, probe, inquire, examine, contrast, categorize, differentiate, contrast,
    investigate, detect, survey, classify, deduce,
experiment, scrutinize, discover, inspect, dissect, discriminate, separate

4. Analyzing:

Breaking materials or concepts into parts, determining how the parts relate to one
another or how they interrelate, or how the parts relate to an overall structure or
purpose. Mental actions included in this function are differentiating, organizing,
and attributing, as well as being able to distinguish between the components or parts.
When one is analyzing, he/she can illustrate this mental function by creating spreadsheets,
surveys, charts, or diagrams, or graphic representations.

 5. Synthesis:

The ability to put parts together to form a coherent or unique new whole. Examples
of verbs that relate to this function are:

  • compose, produce, design, assemble, create, prepare, predict, modify, tell, plan,
invent, formulate, collect, set up, generalize, document, combine, relate, propose,
develop, arrange, construct, organize, originate, derive, write, propose

5. Evaluating:

Making judgments based on criteria and standards through checking and critiquing.
Critiques, recommendations, and reports are some of the products that can be created
to demonstrate the processes of evaluation.  In the newer taxonomy, evaluating comes
before creating as it is often a necessary part of the precursory behavior before
one creates something.

6. Evaluation:

The ability to judge, check, and even critique the value of material for a given purpose.
Examples of verbs that relate to this function are:

  • judge, assess, compare, evaluate, conclude, measure, deduce, argue, decide, choose,
rate, select, estimate, validate, consider, appraise, value, criticize, infer

6. Creating:

Putting elements together to form a coherent or functional whole; reorganizing elements
into a new pattern or structure through generating, planning, or producing. Creating
requires users to put parts together in a new way, or synthesize parts into something
new and different creating a new form or product.  This process is the most difficult
mental function in the new taxonomy.

Bloom’s taxonomy, taxonomy of educational objectives, developed in the 1950s by the American educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom, which fostered a common vocabulary for thinking about learning goals. Bloom’s taxonomy engendered a way to align educational goals, curricula, and assessments that are used in schools, and it structured the breadth and depth of the instructional activities and curriculum that teachers provide for students. Few educational theorists or researchers have had as profound an impact on American educational practice as Bloom.

Understanding education and its objectives

Throughout the 20th century, educators explored a variety of different ways to make both explicit and implicit the educational objectives taught by teachers, particularly in early education. In the early 20th century, objectives were referred to as aims or purposes, and in the early 21st century, they evolved into standards. During much of the 20th century, educational reformers who wanted to more clearly describe what teachers should teach began to use the word objectives, which referred to the type of student learning outcomes to be evidenced in classrooms. Bloom’s taxonomy was one of the most significant representations of those learning outcomes.

Bloom’s work was not only in a cognitive taxonomy but also constituted a reform in how teachers thought about the questioning process within the classroom. Indeed, the taxonomy was originally structured as a way of helping faculty members think about the different types of test items that could be used to measure student academic growth. Bloom and a group of assessment experts he assembled began their work in 1949 and completed their efforts in 1956 when they published Taxonomy of Educational Objectives: The Classification of Educational Goals, Handbook 1: Cognitive Domain.

Bloom’s cognitive domains

Bloom’s cognitive taxonomy originally was represented by six different domain levels: (1) knowledge, (2) comprehension, (3) application, (4) analysis, (5) synthesis, and (6) evaluation. All of the Bloom domains focused on the knowledge and cognitive processes. The American educational psychologist David Krathwohl and some of his associates subsequently focused on the affective domain, which is concerned with student interests, attitudes, and feelings. Another American educational psychologist, Anita Harrow, developed the psychomotor domains, which deal with a wide variety of motor skills. Bloom’s work was most noted for its focus on the cognitive. Bloom became closely associated with the cognitive dimension even though, in subsequent work, he often examined the wide variety of “entry” characteristics (cognitive and affective) that students evidenced when they began their schooling.

Each of Bloom’s cognitive domains enabled educators to begin differentiating the type of content being taught as well as the complexity of the content. The domains are particularly useful for educators who are thinking about the questioning process within the classroom, with questions ranging in complexity from lower-order types of knowledge to higher-order questions that would require more complex and comprehensive thought. Bloom’s taxonomy enabled teachers to think in a structured way about how they question students and deliver content. The taxonomy, in both its original and revised versions, helped teachers understand how to enhance and improve instructional delivery by aligning learning objectives with student assessments and by enhancing the learning goals for students in terms of cognitive complexity.

The following list presents the structure of the original framework, with examples of questions at each of the six domain levels:

  1. Knowledge Level: At this level the teacher is attempting to determine whether the students can recognize and recall information. Example: What countries were involved in the War of 1812?

  2. Comprehension Level: At this level the teacher wants the students to be able to arrange or, in some way, organize information. Example: In the book Teammates the authors describe Jackie Robinson’s struggles as a baseball player and the way in which Pee Wee Reese publicly defended Robinson. Describe in your own words the struggles that Robinson had and what Reese did to help him succeed as a baseball player.

  3. Application Level: At this level the teacher begins to use abstractions to describe particular ideas or situations. Example: What would be the probable influence of a change in temperature on a chemical such as hydrochloric acid?

  4. Analysis Level: At this level the teacher begins to examine elements and the relationships between elements or the operating organizational principles undergirding an idea. Example: Describe the way in which slavery contributed to the American Civil War.

  5. Synthesis Level: At this level the teacher is beginning to help students put conceptual elements or parts together in some new plan of operation or development of abstract relationships. Example: Formulate a hypothesis about the reasons for South Carolina’s decision to secede from the Union.

  6. Evaluation Level: At this level the teacher helps students understand the complexity of ideas so that they can recognize how concepts and facts are either logically consistent or illogically developed. Example: Was it an ethical decision to take to trial the Nazi war criminals and to subsequently put so many of them to death?

Bloom focuses primarily on the cognitive dimension; most teachers rely heavily on the six levels of the cognitive domain to shape the way in which they deliver content in the classroom. Originally Bloom thought about the characteristics that students possess when they enter school, and he divided those characteristics into the affective and the cognitive. From Bloom’s perspective the learning outcomes are a result of the type of learning environment a student is experiencing and the quality of the instruction the teacher is providing. The affective elements included the students’ readiness and motivation to learn; the cognitive characteristics included the prior understandings the students possessed before they entered the classroom. In essence, a student who had an extensive personal vocabulary and came from a reading-rich home environment would be more ready to learn than the student who had been deprived of such opportunities during his preschool years. In the early 21st century, some reformers described this as the “knowledge gap” and specifically highlighted the fact that students from low socioeconomic settings have less access to books and a lower exposure to a rich home vocabulary. In essence, some of Bloom’s original ideas continued to be reinforced in the educational research literature.

A revision of Bloom’s taxonomy

Many researchers had begun to rethink the way in which educational objectives were presented by teachers, and they developed a revision of Bloom’s taxonomy in 2001. The revised taxonomy was developed by using many of the same processes and approaches that Bloom had used a half century earlier. In the new taxonomy, two dimensions are presented: the knowledge dimension and the cognitive dimension. There are four levels on the knowledge dimension: factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive. There are six levels on the cognitive process dimension: remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The new taxonomy enabled teachers to think more in depth about the content that they are teaching and the objectives they are focusing on within the classroom. It allowed teachers to categorize objectives in a more-multidimensional way and to do so in a manner that allows them to see the complex relationships between knowledge and cognitive processes.

The original Bloom’s taxonomy allowed teachers to categorize content and questions at different levels. The new two-dimensional model enabled teachers to see the relationship between and among the objectives for the content being taught and to also examine how that material should be taught and how it might be assessed. By examining both the knowledge level and the cognitive processes, teachers were better equipped to consider the complex nature of the learning process and also better equipped to assess what the students learn.

The new taxonomy did not easily spread among practitioners, in part because most classroom teachers remained unfamiliar with the new taxonomic approach and because many professional development experts (including those in teacher-education institutions) continued to rely on the original taxonomy. The new model was in many ways just as significant as the original taxonomy. The original approach provided a structure for how people thought about facts, concepts, and generalizations and offered a common language for thinking about and communicating educational objectives. In essence, it helped teachers think more clearly about the structure and nature of knowledge. The new taxonomy helped teachers see how complex knowledge really is.

Subject area of cognitive linguistics. Brief overview

Subject area of cognitive linguistics: brief overview
Cognitive linguistics is a modern school of linguistic thought and practice. An area of research in cognitive linguistics is the relationship between natural language, the mind, and sociophysical experience. This branch of linguistics was founded in the 1970s (Filmore, 1975; Lakoff & Thompson, 1975; Rosch, 1975) and stemmed from dissatisfaction with the results that demonstrated the formal approaches to language that dominated linguistics and philosophy at that time. Despite the fact that the origin of this linguistic direction was, in part, philosophical in nature, yet cognitive linguistics was strongly influenced by the scientific concepts and scientific research of other cognitive sciences (since they appeared during the 1960s and 1970s), especially cognitive psychology.
This influence is best reflected in the writings on social classification, especially those of Charles Fillmore in the 1970s (eg Fillmore 1975) and George Lakoff in the 1980s (eg 1987). Earlier traditions (such as Gestalt psychology) also matter, as demonstrated by Leonard Talmy (2000) and Ronald Langecker (1987). Finally, theories about the neural basis of language and human cognition have had a lasting impact on the nature and content of cognitive linguistic theories, beginning with early work on how the eye’s structure limits the color terminology system (Kay and McDaniel, 1978), ending with recent work entitled “Neural Theory of Language” (Lakoff, 2005). In recent years, cognitive linguistic theories have become sufficiently complex and detailed to start making any predictions that are suitable for testing using a wide range of similar methods from the field of cognitive science.
Early research was dominant in the 1970s and early 1980s due to a relatively small number of scientists primarily (though not exclusively) active on the West Coast of the United States. Within 19In the 1980s, cognitive linguistic studies began to take root in the north of continental Europe, especially in Belgium, Holland and Germany.
By the early 1990s, there was a growing body of research in cognitive linguistics across Europe and North America. There was also a rather large group of researchers who lived in different countries and who called themselves ‘cognitive linguists’. After a conference in Duisburg (Germany), the International Association for Cognitive Linguistics was founded in 1989, and a year later the journal Cognitive Linguistics was established. According to one of the pioneers in the field of cognitive linguistics, Ronald Langaker (1991b, p. xv), this event ‘marked the birth of cognitive linguistics as a strongly grounded, self-aware intellectual movement’.
‘Movement’ or ‘subject area’ are the words that most accurately describe the essence of cognitive linguistics, since it is not a clearly formulated theory. Instead, cognitive linguistics is an approach that adopts the usual set of core commitments and guiding principles that have led to a different set of complementary, overlapping (and sometimes competing) theories.
The purpose of this article is to trace some of the major assumptions and beliefs that make cognitive linguistics a distinct and viable subject area. We will also attempt to take a brief look at the major areas of research and theory-building that characterize cognitive linguistics, areas that make it one of the most vibrant, exciting, and promising philosophies of thought and practice in contemporary cognitive science.
Two key commitments of cognitive linguistics

The subject area of cognitive linguistics is characterized by two fundamental commitments (Lakoff, 1990). Both of them underlie both the scientific orientation and approach that have been established by practicing cognitive linguists, and the basis of the hypotheses and methodologies adopted by the two main areas of the subject area of cognitive science: cognitive semantics and cognitive approaches to grammar (discussion of these issues will be presented below ).
Generalization obligation.
The first key concept is the generalization obligation (Lakoff, 1990). It is
a kind of focus on the characterization of general principles that apply to all aspects of natural language. This goal is a special case of the standard obligation in science, and is used to seek the broadest generalizations possible. In contrast to the approach used in cognitive linguistics, other approaches to the study of language often divide language ability into distinct areas such as phonology (sound), semantics (word and sentence meaning), pragmatics (meaning in the context of conversation), morphology (word structure). ), syntax (sentence structure) and so on. As a consequence, there is no good reason to generalize through these aspects of the language or to explore their interrelationships. This is especially characteristic of formal linguistics.

Formal linguistics attempts to model a language by establishing explicit mechanical devices or methods that operate on theoretical basic elements in order to reproduce all possible grammatical sentences in a given language. Within such approaches, as a rule, attempts are made to arrive at precise formulations by adopting a formalism inspired by computer science, mathematics, and logic. Formal linguistics found its embodiment, first of all, in the works of Noam Chomsky (for example, his works 1965, 1981, 1995) and in the generative grammar paradigm, as well as the tradition known as formal semantics, inspired by the philosopher of language Richard Montagu (1970, 1973; see Cann, 1993, for a review).
Within formal linguistics, the fact is discussed that areas such as phonology, semantics, and syntax deal with significantly different kinds of structuring
principles based on different kinds of basic elements. For example, syntactic ‘module’ is the area in the human mind that is responsible for structuring (constructing) words into sentences, while phonological ‘module’ is concerned with composing sounds into patterns permitted by the rules of any given language, and natural language in general. This modular view of the mind reinforces the idea that the division of modern linguistic research into different branches of science is justified, not only on the basis of practicality, but also because the components of the language are quite different, and, from the point of view of organization, are not commensurate with each other.
Cognitive linguists recognize that considering syntax, semantics, and phonology as distinct areas can be very helpful. However, given the obligation to generalize, cognitive linguists do not start from the axiom that the ‘modules’ or ‘subsystems’ of a language are organized in rather contradictory ways, or that, in fact, there are quite different modules. Thus, the obligation to generalize is a commitment to explore how different aspects of linguistic knowledge emerge from a single set of human cognitive abilities from which they are derived, rather than from the assumption that linguistic knowledge originates in latent modules of the mind.
The obligation to generalize has some rather specific implications for language research. First, cognitive linguistic research focuses on what is common among different linguistic aspects, seeking to re-use valid methods and explanations in relation to these aspects. For example, just as the lexical meaning of a word contains a prototypical component, there are good and not so good examples of referents of given words connected in some special way – thus, various studies have applied the same principles to the organization of morphology (for example, Taylor, 2003), syntax (e. g. Goldberg, 1995) and phonology (eg Jaeger & Ohala, 1984). Summarizing actionable explanations, interpretations across certain areas of language is not just good scientific practice – it is also the way biology is based; reuse of already existing structures for new purposes, both on the scale of evolution and on the scale of development.
Second, cognitive linguistic approaches often take a ‘vertical’ rather than a ‘horizontal’ approach to the study of language as their basis. A language can be considered a structure consisting of a number of distinct layers of organization – a sound structure, a set of words made up of these sounds, the syntactic structures that these words make up, and so on. If we build these layers one on top of the other, given that they unfold over an extended period of time (like layers of a pie), then modular approaches are then horizontal, in the sense that one layer is considered and studied from the inside – just like horizontal piece of cake. Vertical approaches provide a richer view of the language by looking at the vertical part of the language, which includes phonology, morphology, syntax, and, of course, a healthy dose of semantics at the very top. The vertical part of the language is always more complex to some extent than the horizontal part – it is more fluid and structured – but at the same time it provides possible explanations that are simply not available from a horizontal, modular point of view.

Cognitive abilities: what is it and how to develop them

Every day, cognitive skills help us solve simple and complex problems. The level of our life, career and health depends on how developed mental abilities are

  1. What is it
  2. How to change
  3. How to improve

The fact that the brain is a “muscle” that also needs to be trained has long been known. It has been proven [1] that people who have been actively engaged in mental work throughout their lives, for example, taught at a university, are less likely to experience dementia, or it comes to them much later. Special attention was paid to the “pumping” of cognitive abilities [2] after the first waves of the pandemic, when it turned out that coronavirus infection affects attention and memory, reduces mental activity and provokes Alzheimer’s disease.

Neuroplasticity allows the development of cognitive functions of the brain both in youth and in adulthood and even advanced age. Thanks to this, we can continuously learn, master languages, succeed at work and just in everyday life, full of tasks and puzzles.

What is cognitive ability

Cognitive ability is the ability of the brain to absorb and process information about the world around us. These include memory, attention, cognitive flexibility, imagination, speech, the ability to reason logically, perceive information with the senses. Cognitive abilities distinguish a person from an animal, they are necessary for survival and development. They allow us to remember the way from home to work, read documents thoughtfully, cook dinner at the same time and communicate with family members.

Attention

Attention is the ability to concentrate on a task for a long time, even if there are distractions around or if you are multitasking at the same time. This skill is especially valued by employers – often they are looking for multitasking employees who are productive in a rush job.

Divided attention is responsible for the ability to focus on different things, for example, listening to the teacher, looking at the blackboard and taking notes of the lecture at the same time. Focused attention allows you to focus on only one stimulus or action.

Inhibition or inhibitory control helps to keep concentration on something while ignoring or suppressing external factors. Thanks to inhibition, we don’t get distracted by the phone while studying important material, we don’t get up in the middle of a meeting because our leg is numb, we don’t suddenly interrupt the speaker if a question arises.

Attention is directly related to our memory. If you can’t focus on information properly, you won’t be able to remember and recall it. Problems with concentration lead to frequent mistakes, untimely completion of projects, conflicts in the team if you inattentively listened to the interlocutor and did not show proper participation.

Memory

Memory allows us to reproduce experiences and impressions experienced in the past, to recall signs of objects and phenomena, poems, formulas, recipes, birthdays and other information that enters the brain.

Imagine that you are riding a bicycle past people, signs, houses and cars. You capture these objects, but forget about them after half a second, because you do not need this information. This is how instant memory works. If you can keep the image of a passerby in your head for 30 seconds, then 9 helped you0053 short-term memory . It is she who helps us to maintain a conversation without losing its essence, and to read books, remembering the plot.

Short-term memory gives access to long-term memory . The same passer-by can get into her halls if he surprised you with something, evoked vivid associations and emotions. The likelihood that you will remember this person for a long time will increase if you meet him on your route every day.

Memory affects our ability to navigate in space, ride a bike years later without practice, drive a car, remember the names of colleagues and feel nostalgic for the old days decades later.

Cognitive flexibility

Mind flexibility allows you to adapt to new conditions, quickly change your strategy and look for alternative solutions to a problem. Cognitive flexibility comes in handy when you need to come up with a non-standard way out of a situation, move from one activity to another, endure failure and work through mistakes.

Did you run out of oatmeal for breakfast? Cognitive flexibility will prevent you from going to work hungry and help you come up with a different dish. Accident and traffic jam on the usual route? A person with flexible thinking will find a new way and be in time for an important meeting. Is your colleague arguing and holding a different opinion than you? A flexible mind has made you tolerant, mobile, and now you can take the place of your opponent, learn new information for yourself and find a compromise.

If a person has difficulty adapting to new conditions and cannot move away from his usual path, this indicates cognitive rigidity . Such a person will look for oatmeal until he realizes that he is late, remains in traffic and quarrels with a colleague, fiercely defending his point of view. Cognitive rigidity strives to take its toll, as the human brain strives for stability, certainty and security. Therefore, it can be easier for us to stick to an established pattern of behavior than to restructure our strategy and step into the unknown. But it is worth remembering that running away from any change and otherness is fraught with unpleasant consequences – inefficiency at work, frequent stress and a low standard of living.

Auditory and visual perception

Auditory and visual processing allows you to interpret any information that you receive through images or sounds. The brain processes such signals at lightning speed. The sound of an ambulance siren is easily recognized and causes an alarm. The red light of the traffic light calls to slow down at the intersection. A rapidly approaching car hints at the same thing.

The surrounding world is filled with sound and visual signals, and if a person loses the ability to perceive them, then the brain loses part of the information about the world. A child with poor eyesight does not see from the board and does not understand part of the material, a person with hearing impairments does not hear the call of a cyclist approaching from behind. The appearance of the interlocutor, his facial expressions, gestures, manner of speech and voice can tell a lot about him without words. Furrowed brows, jerky movements, and loud remarks from your boss will certainly adjust your plan of action if you come in to ask for a pay raise.

Information processing speed

It takes time to capture and process information. Someone solves problems faster, someone slower – and this does not say anything about the mental abilities of a person, but sets a certain pace for his life. A person who needs more time for reading, mathematical calculations, logical reasoning and decision-making simply does it longer, but no less qualitatively. The speed of perception of information, if necessary, can be “pumped” and make the computational processes in the head easier, freer, which, of course, helps us in learning and work.

How cognitive abilities change

As a rule, cognitive skills are most actively formed in childhood, when the brain is more plastic and easily builds new paths in neural networks. Therefore, it is often said that it is easy to learn new things in childhood. But this is not a sentence for an adult.

Yes, with age, people’s memory deteriorates [3] and the speed of information processing slows down [4]. After 30 years, a person becomes more conservative, his worldview is already largely formed, the experience he has experienced protects against mistakes, and without them there is practically no development.

Nevertheless, constant learning and openness to new horizons, according to the report of the International Economic Forum “The Future of Jobs” [5], remain the most sought-after skills today.

Natural cognitive decline can be controlled through education. An experiment was set up at the University of California [6] – they offered elderly subjects 15 hours a week (bachelor’s load) to study Spanish, photography, drawing, music, and iPad functions. Within three months, short-term memory and mental flexibility improved in older students to the level of 30-year-old and younger participants in the experiment.

It turns out that learning is especially useful with age. Education allows you to develop cognitive skills, and cognitive skills help you learn more effectively.

How to improve your cognitive abilities

1. Get physically active

Scientists have proven [7] that 30 minutes of aerobic and strength training per day improves brain function by 5-10%. Sports oxygenate your blood and make your heart beat faster, which increases the activity of the hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for memory and learning. The good old physical activity is good for the body, and for the spirit, and for the development of mental abilities.

2. Get enough sleep

Before an exam or any other important event, we are often advised to get a good night’s sleep, and for good reason. When we sleep, our brain is restored and the next morning is again ready for mental exploits. Lack of sleep, in turn, causes a loss of concentration and attention. Get 7-9 hours of sleep each day and try to stay up at least before midnight to get the most out of your night’s rest.

3. Reduce your stress level

In a state of stress, it is difficult to concentrate on a task, remember important information and record new information. In conditions of chronic, constant stress, cognitive abilities decline even faster. Try to eliminate sources of tension and anxiety, meditate, engage in breathing practices, or consult a psychologist to achieve peace of mind and make progress in school or work.

4. Maintain and develop social connections

In The Resilient Brain, Sanjay Gupta, MD, neurosurgeon, notes that people with close social circles are more likely to experience sleep and immune system disturbances, and loneliness in old age leads to dementia more quickly .

Curiosity is a core value of our program: No question is too silly or small.

In our programs, we don’t give away the answers to kids’ questions. Because let’s face it, figuring things out for yourself is how some of the best learning happens!

But for you, we offer answers quickly and simply so you can get on with your day and feel confident you’re taken care of. Here are helpful resources to answer the most common questions we hear about enrollment, billing, and managing your account.

Programs and Offerings

We offer care for kids in K-6th grade on school property during out-of-school hours. That means we’re here before school, after school, on many no-school days, and during seasonal breaks. Contact the site director at your preferred location to get the most up-to-date scheduling information.

I need care, how do I find a Champions site near me?

Visit our location finder and input your zip code to see where we’re located nearby.

I found a site that works for me, now what?

If you’re ready to join us, start your online enrollment now! Your site director is the best resource to share information about your location’s program. If you have questions, contact them directly using the phone number on our location finder.

I have questions about the program, who do I talk to?

If you’re looking for tuition, enrollment availability, and general program information such as pick-up and drop-off policies, snack choices, or other site details, please contact the site directly using the phone number on our location finder.

How to Enroll

Enrolling online is easy! We use a Parent Portal that keeps your information securely at your fingertips. You can manage your payments, adjust your child’s schedule, and monitor information about our programs.

You can also make changes to the schedule up to six months in advance.

What do I do if I have subsidy or grant coverage?

The director of the film about Cobain promised to release unknown songs of Nirvana’s lead singer

Lead singer of the popular American indie rock band The Killers Brandon Flowers in his interview to Rolling Stone magazine spoke about the creative plans, which he and his band will start to implement in the near future.

Brandon Flowers admitted that the tour, which members of The Killers had last summer, tired the musicians. After the world tour, they announced their desire to take a short creative break: “A couple of the guys just ran out of steam, so we had to slow down this rat race. But I’m not tired. I wanted to continue.”

Thus, the rock band’s sabbatical allowed Flowers to devote all his free time to active work on his second solo album. The record titled “The Desired Effect” will be released on 19May.

It is known that the vocalist invited Ariel Rechtscheid, who previously worked with the Vampire Weekend and Haim team, as a producer.

In an interview with journalists, the musician said that on July 27, 2015 he is going to go on a solo tour. The tour will begin with a concert in Millville. Brandon’s performances are scheduled at the largest venues in Europe.

It is worth noting that the reporters of the music publication did not forget how Flowers called his debut solo album “one of the best records that have come out in the last 20 years.”

When journalists tried to find out the reasons for such a statement from the frontman of the rock band, he explained his act with an emotional upsurge associated with the release of a new creative work: “Yeah, it was one of those interviews. I still remember how it was. In order to speak with a journalist, I stopped on the road in Henderson, Nevada. And I still remember those words that came out of my mouth. I could not even imagine how wide this phrase would get. It’s just that at that moment I was really in awe of this work.”

Previously, members of the press had to analyze some of the statements of Brandon Flowers. In an interview, the musician said that the public is simply afraid to criticize Kanye West: “Everyone is afraid to say something despite the fact that he is a genius. This is crazy guys! And it’s a pity. I’m not going to omit it, but I think that the opinion of him is simply pathetic. That is my position.”

The Killers lead singer added that today many music lovers can agree with his opinion about Kanye. Contrary to his critical attitude towards West, Brandon also admitted that the activity of this musician is aimed at being called useful and great.

Amazon – brand history | Brandpedia

Amazon. com, Inc. is an American company, the largest in the world in terms of turnover selling goods and services via the Internet and one of the first Internet services focused on the sale of real consumer goods. The headquarters is located in Seattle, Washington.

Jeffrey Bezos was born on January 12, 1964. The childhood time of Bezos Jr. takes place in Houston, where he moved with his parents. From a young age, Jeffrey was interested in technology. Since childhood, he has been making and inventing something, so he was even able to assemble a small alarm. Bezos’ passion didn’t stop him from completing an excellent education at school. After graduating from high school with honors, young Jeffrey entered the University of Princeton in 1982, where he also received an education with an “excellent” mark.

Jeffrey’s first job experience was on the Wall Street Stock Exchange, where he was in charge of computers. The next place of work was the company Fitel, where he was given the job of deploying a large network. By the age of 26, the future founder of a well-known IT company took the post of vice president at Bankers Trust.

However, despite such successes, the young man does not stop looking for work. In 1990, he joined the Shaw company, where he received the position of senior vice president. Work in this company was the last place of work as an employee. It’s time to start your own business, the Amazon.com project. Bezos worked at Shaw for only 4 years.

It is worth noting that by the time he was fired, he was married and, most importantly, he already had the idea of organizing the sale of books via the Internet. It is believed that part of this idea came from Jeffrey due to the passion of his wife – she was a writer.

On July 5, 1994, Jeff Bezos and his wife, Mackenzie, open an online bookstore in Seattle. Bezos himself finances the project, investing $ 10,000 of his own savings in it. He and a small staff spend their early days working in Bezos’ garage. Legend has it that the founder of Amazon. com knocked his first desktop out of doors. Today in the company, some tables are also made of doors, not to save money, but to remind them of the need to save.

May 15, 1997 Amazon goes public. Amazon shares start trading at $18 per share on the US NASDAQ stock exchange. However, then Amazon shares fell significantly. In a statement, the company warns investors that it plans to report a “substantial operating loss for the foreseeable future” due to heavy investment in technology and marketing as it seeks to beat out fierce competition from bookselling giant Barnes & Noble.

On November 18, 1997, Amazon opens a second distribution center in New Castle, Delaware, to serve East Coast customers. The 18,500 square meter facility is the start of a network that will eventually touch almost every state in the country. The price of one share by that time was $4.42.

In June 1998, Amazon expands the assortment of its store. Now you can buy not only books, but also CDs and DVDs. The music section opened with 125,000 titles, far more than a typical music store. Not only the assortment of the store has grown, but also the price of Amazon shares. By this time, one share was worth $10.42.

In the fall of 1999, Amazon began using on its website an innovation that almost every online store has today – one-click shopping. It was Amazon who first decided to simplify the ordering process in its store. Amazon has patented the ability to buy an item online with one click. Called 1-Click, this technology gives the company an early edge. Amazon would later sue Barnes & Noble for patent infringement, forcing other sites to license the technology before the patent expires in 2017. On September 1999, the price of one share reached 65.88 dollars.

At the same time, Amazon is launching another marketplace, zShops. The service allowed third-party sellers to sell new or used products on an online fixed-price marketplace alongside Amazon’s regular offerings. Today this service is called Marketplace. This is causing a huge increase in transaction volume on Amazon.com. In the first four months, a quarter of a million customers bought something using the service.

Although Amazon survived the dot-com collapse, this time did not pass without leaving its mark on the company. At the end of 19In 1999, the company’s shares reached a price of $106 per share, and then fell sharply amid negative analytical reports. The company will lay off 15% of its workforce before the share price recovers.

The December 1999 issue of TIME magazine named Bezos Person of the Year, calling him “the king of cyber-commerce.”

In November 2002, Amazon announced a partnership with several major clothing companies to offer 400 clothing brands in its online store. Amazon has now gone far beyond books, offering electronics, toys, kitchenware, and even magazine subscriptions. Price per share by this time – 19.12 dollars.

In the summer of 2003, Amazon starts making money from its web hosting service. The company is starting to generate additional revenue by licensing its platform to other e-commerce sites such as Borders.com and Target.com. In the future, Amazon Web Services will be one of the company’s largest sources of revenue.

On August 19, 2004, Amazon acquires Joyo, the largest online books and electronics retailer in the growing Chinese market, for $75 million. After the purchase, the service becomes a division of the company in China – Amazon China.

In February 2005, Jeff Bezos announces the launch of a paid loyalty program for regular Amazon Prime customers.

On November 19, 2007, the Amazon Kindle e-book goes on sale. Starting price: $399.

In November 2007, Amazon announced plans to open a new headquarters in Seattle. Amazon strikes a deal with the city and a developer to consolidate the dispersed divisions of an industrial area north of downtown. The company’s new headquarters will eventually house 40,000 employees in an area of more than 743,000 square meters.

In 2008, Amazon buys audiobook service Audible for $300 million.

In the summer of 2009, Amazon buys online shoe store Zappos for nearly $900 million. After the deal closed, Amazon decided to leave the Henderson, Nevada office of Zappos under CEO Tony Xie.

In March 2012, Amazon buys Massachusetts-based warehouse robot maker Kiva Systems for $775 million. The deal allows Amazon to increase automation in its service centers, enabling faster product delivery and less need for human staff. Amazon would later stop selling Kiva robots to other companies like Office Depot and Gap in order to keep the technology for itself. The price per share of Amazon by this time reaches 185.52 dollars.

August 5, 2013 Bezos announces that he will pay $250 million of his own money for The Washington Post. Along with the Washington Post, Bezos bought a number of other print media outlets: The Express, The Gazette Newspapers, Southern Maryland Newspapers, Fairfax County Times, El Tiempo Latino, and Greater Washington Publishing. The reason for the sale was the unsatisfactory financial situation of the print media division of the Washington Post Co. The new owner of the newspaper announced the upcoming changes, promising at the same time that he would not interfere in the work of the publication as actively as he manages his Internet business. Amazon stock is doing great. In early August 2013, the price per share reaches $300.

As of November 2013, Amazon will begin delivering packages via the US Postal Service seven days a week in Los Angeles and New York. Later, such delivery will be deployed throughout the country.

In June 2014, Amazon enters the smartphone market with its Fire phone. Sales of the phone are disastrously bad, Amazon about losing $170 million on this project. Fire phones will be discontinued next year.

In August of the same year, Amazon for 9$70 million buys Twitch Interactive, a company that owns a video game streaming service.

In November 2015, Amazon opens its first physical bookstore in Seattle.

At the same time, Amazon begins selling its Echo smart speaker to anyone who wants to interact with the Alexa voice assistant. With this device, you can, among other things, order goods on Amazon, which gives the company access to a huge amount of data about consumers and buying decisions.

On December 7, 2016, Jeff Bezos announced that Amazon had made the first drone delivery.

In the summer of 2017, Amazon buys 471 Whole Foods stores for $13.7 billion. Whole Foods is an American supermarket chain specializing in the sale of organic food without artificial preservatives, colors, flavor enhancers, sweeteners and trans fats. Since then, the merging of the network of the two companies has begun. The price per share of Amazon by this time reaches 987 dollars.

In September 2017, Amazon announces that it plans to open a second headquarters in a city in the US or Canada. The company promises to decide on the city by the end of 2018.

On September 4, 2018, investor enthusiasm for earnings growth pushes Amazon’s stock price high enough to make the company briefly worth $1 trillion.

Choices for childcare are not only challenging, but they can be expensive. If one parent stays home, the family can save money in the short-term. Still, the non-working parent loses wages, work opportunities, and future social security benefits. There are so many factors to consider.

If you’ve decided to explore the in-home care options such as getting a babysitter or nanny, then you are going to be an employer. Yes, I know that conjures up images of mansions, manicured gardens, and a life of luxury travel.

But everyday people are hiring nanny’s to help out with their childcare needs so they can continue working.

But when you turn into an employer, there are certain obligations you need to fulfill, and one of those is paying taxes on your nanny’s income. If you’ve never been an employer, this can be downright scary and confusing. No one wants to get it wrong. The consequences can be dire for you and your nanny.

Many people decide to pay for their childcare providers in cash to avoid tax, but there are so many reasons this can get you into trouble. Doing this also puts your nanny at a disadvantage. You put yourself at risk of being sued if your nanny gets injured at work. You don’t get to earn a tax deduction for your childcare. You have a constant fear of being audited and “put into the authorities” for tax evasion.

It’s best to do it correctly the first time to decrease the likelihood of large penalties in the future.

The hardest part of the process is finding someone you implicitly trust to look after your child. Then the rest is just paperwork.

We need to discuss nanny tax calculators, so you don’t get into deep water with the IRS! But before we start, make sure you have all the forms filled out.

Employer Forms

Employer Identification Number (EIN)

This is the number you’ll have to use to pay taxes associated with your nanny. You can apply online and instantly download your approval letter and get your EIN.

State Unemployment Taxes

States vary with the rates and rules, so you need to check with your local state department of labor. You can register online in most states using your EIN. But you may have to wait for your assigned tax rate to show up by mail.

Employee forms

Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification

Your nanny fills out Form I-9, and you keep it on file for three years after you have hired them, or one year after they stop working for you. If they leave after one year, you still must retain her I-9 for another two years.

Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate

You’re not required to withhold federal income taxes, but if your employee wants you to, they must complete the Form W-4.

Whether you pay your nanny every week, bi-weekly or monthly, you’ll need to calculate their gross and net wages on payday. After depositing your nanny’s wage, you should email a paystub. It’s advisable to have an overview of the hours worked, taxes withheld, and gross and net income.

The process should look something like this:

  1. Add up the hours your nanny has worked during the previous payroll period.
  2. Multiply the number of hours by the hourly wage. This is the gross wage.
  3. Calculate social security and Medicare taxes. You and your employee each pay 7.65 percent of gross wages.
  4. Subtract your employee’s share from her gross wages and record the amount you owe.
  5. If your nanny requested you to withhold federal income taxes, you could use the income tax withholding tables. It is best to use a nanny tax calculator for this as it can be quite complicated.
  6. Calculate your state unemployment taxes if applicable.
  7. Calculate the federal unemployment taxes (FUTA). Only the employer pays FUTA on the first $7,000 of your nanny’s annual wages. The current rate is six percent, but you may be eligible to receive a credit if you also pay state unemployment taxes.

The federal taxes must be paid online through The Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). Be sure to keep in the know about the deadlines, because the late fees are hefty.

If you are concerned about miscalculations, there are some online nanny tax calculators you can check out. All you have to do is fill in the figures and information requested, and the computer does the rest. Some even prepare payment stubs for you to email or print for your nanny. These nanny tax calculators are usually free. Here are a few online nanny tax calculators to start your research.

The Nanny Tax Company

Paying nanny taxes can seem intimidating at first. But once you get the paperwork sorted, you can more or less put the process on automation. Especially if you pay your nanny the same amount every week.

How to Calculate Overtime for Nannies

Most regular nannies are paid on a guaranteed pay basis. What this typically means is that the family agreed to pay the nanny a pre-determined salary for a given number of hours in a pay period. The full time nanny work schedule is often more than 40 hours per week.

It is important to remember, however, that nannies are NON-EXEMPT, hourly employees according to Federal Law and are entitled to nanny overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per week. Minimum wage and overtime requirements are set, as a floor, by Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and states may have stricter requirements of their own. If the household employee receives a “salary” that covers a work week of more than 40 hours, your employment agreement must explicitly state the regular and nanny overtime rates of pay. (See our exclusive Hourly Rate Calculator for help.) Protect yourself… read on.

Setting an Hourly Pay Rate

Stating the employee wage in an hourly pay rate form helps the employer remain compliant with the FLSA and state wage and hour rules and avoids wage disputes with the employee. In a formal dispute (Wage & Hours Board Complaint), a work agreement that simply stipulates a weekly salary will be evaluated based on a 40 hour work week. Our exclusive Hourly Pay Rate Calculator simplifies the conversion of a periodic salary to an hourly wage.

HomeWork Solutions strongly encourages families to develop a written work agreement that documents all terms and conditions of employment.

This should include agreed pay rate, hours of duty, paid holidays, vacation/sick/personal days paid and the benefit accrual method.

» Structuring FLSA Compliant Work Agreements

How, then, to calculate overtime for the salaried nanny?

Employers must first translate the nanny’s salary to an HOURLY PAY RATE. The means to do this will be different, depending on whether the nanny lives-in with the employer, or lives-out (come and go).

  1. Convert the nanny’s salary to a weekly one.
    Weekly Salary: No Conversion Needed.
Bi-Weekly Salary: Divide the salary by 2.
Semi-Monthly (2x Per Month) Salary: Multiply by 24 (number of payments in a year) and divide by 52 (number of weeks in a year).
Monthly Salary: Multiply by 12 (number of payments in a year) and divide by 52 (number of weeks in a year).
  2. Calculate the number of hours worked in a week.
  3. If total weekly hours are less than 40, simply divide the weekly salary by the number of hours worked. Result is HOURLY PAY RATE. If total hours GREATER than 40, continue below.

Live In Nanny

  • Divide the weekly salary by the number of hours worked. Result is HOURLY PAY RATE. For a live-in nanny, HOURLY PAY RATE = OVERTIME HOURLY PAY RATE

Live Out Nanny

  • Subtract 40 from weekly hours worked. Result is OVERTIME HOURS WORKED.
  • Multiply OVERTIME HOURS WORKED by 1.5.
  • Add 40 to the result of Step 5.
  • Divide the weekly salary by the result of Step 6. Result is HOURLY PAY RATE.
  • Multiply HOURLY PAY RATE by 1.5, Result is the OVERTIME HOURLY PAY RATE

Now that the HOURLY PAY RATE has been determined, simply multiply the additional hours worked (above the regularly scheduled/compensated hours) by the HOURLY PAY RATE, applying the overtime differential if a live-out employee, to determine the additional overtime compensation due.

Compensation for Occasional Overnights

From time to time a nanny employer may require that the nanny stay overnight when parents are out of town. Employers and nannies alike often question how such overnight stays should be compensated, as the nanny is clearly sleeping for some portion of the time on duty.

Compensation for occasional overnights should be worked out in advance of the occasion, preferably memorialized within the written work agreement. The FLSA allows up to 8 hours of “sleep time” to be uncompensated for overnight care that is BOTH contiguous with a scheduled work day (24 hour+ shift) AND truly affords the nanny 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Nanny overtime rules apply, so hours over 40 in the work week must be properly calculated for overtime. Additionally, it is common to provide an additional stipend to the nanny for the occasional overnight.

Let’s use an example. Nanny typically works Monday – Friday from 8 AM until 6 PM. She lives out and is paid $850 per week, or $15.45 per hour for the first 40 hours, and $23.18 for the 10 hours of overtime. She stays overnight Thursday – Friday. There are 14 additional hours, 8 that can be excluded if she really can sleep, and 6 to be compensated at the $23. 18 overtime rate. Family’s written work agreement provides a $50 overnight stipend.

Non-contiguous overnight care – a Saturday night when the nanny is not scheduled to work either Saturday or Sunday – is typically much more generously compensated. The FLSA does not allow a sleep time exemption if the shift is less than 24 hours. At a minimum a nanny who is already scheduled 40 hours or more during the work week is entitled to her overtime rate for the weekend care. If nanny works Saturday 8 PM until Sunday 10 AM she must be paid for 14 hours. The family may or may not choose to provide an overnight stipend in this situation. Negotiating this type of compensation in advance is a good practice to avoid misunderstanding and conflict with the nanny.

These ‘formulas’ apply to older babies, preschoolers and older children who have a fixed nighttime routine and sleep through the night. Overnight nanny rates involving infant care throughout the night – feedings, medications, diaper changes – is a different beast and the family should expect to pay a premium. When nanny’s sleep will be interrupted in these cases, the entire shift must be compensated at the appropriate hourly rate.

How has Kidsout changed my life?

Thanks to Kidsout, I not only learned to communicate, play, have fun and negotiate with children, but also turned my life around by 180 degrees, getting a new job from the father of one of the boys, with whom I studied English 2 times a week.
Kidsout is an endless number of new opportunities that you shouldn’t miss!

Kidzout are families with their own characteristics and traditions, when I enter the house I live the life of a particular family, they open their doors and hearts, well, and also refrigerators of course)) and I dive into the world of the family and leave my mark, it seems so strange at first, and then you get used to it and wait for someone to open the door… Kidzout opened the world of Adults to me where everything is decided by Children and it’s wonderful!

I’m Mira and I’ve been a kidzout for 3 years now.
And I’m happy.

Mira R

It was about three years ago! I’m studying, I don’t really understand how to take my free time, and then suddenly a friend: “Will you go to Kidsout?”. I went … As a result, I also learn a lot from the children, and they draw something from me (as it seems to me). Learned a lot. Everything could have been different, but no: the experience of a babysitter is invaluable and nothing can replace it!

Kidsout gave me more than just an experience, it gave me a lot of pleasant and amazing meetings, the opportunity to see the world (now I am on my second long trip abroad with my children), test myself, learn patience, strength and iron zen. Every day I learn from children, often they know much more than unlucky adults! For me, this work has ceased to be a “work”, today it is part of my life.

  • Help with children at a birthday, family holiday
  • 905 31 Distract the child, while parents are busy with household chores

Questions and answers

Who is a babysitter?

Babysitters are young girls and boys, mostly students. They like to play, draw, dance, put on performances with children and just crawl around the house. They can be trusted to pick up the child from school and take him to classes. They work part time. Unlike a professional nanny, in addition to looking after children, they have a lot of interests in life. They do not want to get a permanent job, but they are ready to work with one child regularly. And you, instead of regularly entering in the search engine “nanny for an hour St. Petersburg” “hourly nanny MSC”, you will know where and to whom you can contact.

What do babysitters do?

Why is part-time work as a Babysitter better than many others?

What will I get after school?

I do not have a pedagogical education, will customers invite me?

Nanny visas to the UK

Nanny to travel to the UK, which visa to open for a nanny 9000 3

UK Nanny Visa Invitation, How to write?

How do I get a UK nanny visa to work with a family?

What kind of visa does a nanny need to get in England?

These are the most common inquiries and questions we have received in recent years. We want to note right away that there is no nanny visa, there is no such concept in the British Home Office immigration and visa legislation. Yes, many nannies are officially employed in the UK on a domestic worker visa. We arrange visas for many nannies from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and even request a visa for a nanny from the Philippines and China to work in British families and foreign families who came to work in the UK.

VikiVisa.Com 2021

There is a general UK domestic worker visa Domestic Workers in a Private 9060 5 Household visa – Domestic workers on a private visa to work in the UK, including work as a nanny in the family, work with the child and help in the family with the housework.

The history of this category of domestic worker visa to work in England. Previously (until 2015) it was possible to work almost permanently in the UK on a Domestic Workers visa.

Obtaining a nanny visa was easy with a minimum package of documents, visa requirements were loyal.

A nanny visa was opened for 6 months, then the visa could be extended without leaving the UK, and so on. What is most interesting, domestic worker visas were subject to naturalization and after 5-7 years it was possible to obtain ILR and then British citizenship and all this on an employee visa – nanny, gardener, security guard, driver, maid, house manager and other professions for domestic work in England and Scotland. It doesn’t work that way now, unfortunately.

Who can apply for a UK nanny visa

the nanny and other attendants come to the UK to accompany and perform housework, childcare and other work. The visa has become inconvenient and difficult, you need to document your long-term relationship with the employer.

Nanny visa is also open for 6 months, it can be extended in individual cases. The extension of the nanny visa depends on the employer, status, work contract in the UK and other circumstances, documents, certificates, extracts that need to be provided to UKVI officers to apply for a new nanny visa.

There is always a chance to get a nanny visa

First of all, you need to decide for how long you are going to the UK with a nanny? What is the purpose of the trip for the family (employer) and what visas are open?

Visas for nannies and maids and other staff to work in the UK in a family with children

If the trip is short, it is easier to open a tourist visa for a nanny. This applies to cases where the employer-family and children have standard tourist visas.

If the family has work visas, dependent visas, entrepreneur visas, start-up visas, innovator visas, investor visas or long-term student visas, we recommend taking the time to apply for a domestic worker visa for a nanny.

Brookhaven KinderCare Programs

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5-12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

  • When my child first came to KinderCare she was very shy and I wasn’t sure if this was going to be the right place for her. Within seconds of walking into the classroom the teacher became very engaged and made my child feel very comfortable. When I returned that evening to pick her up she was very happy and did not want to leave! I was so impressed because this was her first time away from me. KinderCare really did make transition very simple and I wouldn’t want to put her anywhere else.

    Anonymous – KinderCare Parent
  • I do not know what I would do without KinderCare. I have a crazy work schedule and I love the fact that KinderCare keeps me up to date about all of the wonderful things that my son has accomplished since he has been there. All of the staff is very caring and would do just about anything to see your child succeed!

I absolutely loved Pela Kids!!! I have 2 boys and one of them has an IEP, they were more than accommodating with the needs of my children. Sadly enough we had to move and if the travel wasn’t out of state We would have gadly stayed. Finding people to trust with your children is very hard tocome by, I will forever appreciate their warm welcomes and hands on care they provided for us. The teachers are great and are very silly when it comes to the children. They get to know them on a personal level. Again very sad to go, but highly recommend them as providers!…

It is so hard to leave an infant in the care of anyone but PELA Kids was the best decision for my family. My daughter started when she was 7 months old and has always been clean, changed, fed, well rested andhappy when I pick her up. I drop off at 5am and have always been met by upbeat staff who greet my baby with open arms. They are also extremely accommodating to my work schedule. I truly have peace of mind leaving my baby in their care and would refer them to anyone….

Description:

Well, the following you may find helpful in making a decision.
I’m the owner and director of Crew Kids. Thanks so much for contacting us!
I’m a Villanova University graduate. I started this business inSeptember of 1999, which we are incredibly proud. We have successfully incorporated a learning philosophy founded in teachings of child development experts. We focus on children’s total well-being while making it a fun learning experience for long term success. It’s my personal belief that collaborating with parents in building relationships that best support and nurture our children offers them the best head start to be confident learners in preparation for life.
I converted our facility which was once a single home into a full capacity daycare. It was my intention to provide the most comfortable environment for infants and preschoolers to transition comfortably because of our “Like Home” setting. I designed the center to be what you may call a boutique childcare center. It’s small, comfortable and service driven. We are not a chain daycare or corporate facility. We consider ourselves a family extension from your immediate family to our Crew Kids Family.
Our infant and toddler room is nurturing and a comfortable environment offering the children the best in childcare in Media Borough. Our preschoolers are able to explore and learn in a loving environment in promotion of both social and academic success. We also have before and after school program for children that grow up here and would like to continue while at school age from Media Elementary and Wallingford Elementary School.
Our hours of operation are 7am to 6pm. We are located centrally to transportation,
major highways and Starbucks, Wawa or Dunkin Donuts in case you are a Latte addict. 🙂
I would be happy to schedule a tour of our center in which I have many written references to share for your review. Our rates can be discussed upon our meeting….

“I could sing the praises of Nanny Harmony all day long! Working with Brooke was an incredible experience.

From the moment our initial interview began, I could tell that Brooke had my best interest at heart. She really listened to my story and paid attention to the “why” for me when it came to nannying. As a nanny, I was thrilled to hear that the folks at Nanny Harmony have a great deal of experience as nannies themselves. That makes a huge difference, and it was evident throughout the process. It’s so apparent that Brooke loves this work and that she also just really loves people. She values the needs of both the nanny and the family, and because of that, I had a smooth transition into a job I love with a family that is a perfect fit! I’m deeply grateful.”

What can be such a stressful experience was easy and enjoyable because they listened to what I needed, made me feel confident they could find us the right candidate, and ultimately helped us find an amazing nanny! • A long term nanny (full-time or part-time) is a professional who fits seamlessly into your family life to provide childcare, household assistance and family support. Full-time nannies work 35+ hours per week, while part-time nannies work 20-34 hours per week.

Most career nannies are offered $27-35+/hr, depending on their background and job expectations. Nannies earn a guaranteed weekly rate. (Don’t worry — we’re here to help guide you through this!)

**We require that families agree to compensating their household employee, legally, using a W-2 form.

  • Can your family use support in holding down the fort this summer? Hire a summertime nanny!

Our professional nannies are reliable, flexible for your family and hold themselves to a higher standard than a ‘back-up babysitter’. Many of our candidates have teaching backgrounds, tutoring experience, and impressive resumes. The market rate for experienced candidates is $25-30+/hour.

    PRICING: $1,875

One-time fee includes our time spent screening numerous candidates through a multi-step process, the cost of background fees, assistance with a written employment contract, and ongoing support.

  • Newborn Care Specialists (NCS’s), often misrepresented by the terms “baby nurse” or “night nanny,” are invaluable, highly-experienced individuals with extensive training centered around newborn care. While new parents catch up on must-needed sleep, an NCS is able to step in and implement healthy strategies for feeding, sleep schedules, and more. Their ability to lead the way takes giant pressure off of new parents’ shoulders during those first several weeks/months.

NCS’s (depending on experience and credentials) earn $35-50+/hour.

Most NCS’s are willing to work a schedule between 6-weeks to 6-months. For further NCS information, click here.

  • Are you frantically searching for quality care a lower cost?

Nanny shares are comprised of two families, who live close by, and often share similar needs in childcare. Both families pay 2/3 of the Nanny’s standard rate. (i.e. If their rate is generally $23/hour, they should earn around $34/hour, split by both families. This gives each family about a 30% discount, and the Nanny a well-deserved 30% pay increase for their extra efforts.

How to include babysitting experience on your resume (with tips and examples)

As a babysitter, you have the opportunity to improve the lives of the children you care for. This can be a viable career for those who love children and want to contribute to an environment that supports a child’s creativity, learning, and social, emotional and mental development. As with any job, it is important to demonstrate your skills and experience for the role.

In this article, we’ll cover what babysitting experience might include, explain when you should consider including babysitting experience on your resume, provide steps and tips for adding babysitting experience to your resume, and give some examples of resumes that include babysitting experience.

What is nanny experience?

Babysitting experience is any experience that you have taken care of children. This may include changing diapers, feeding children, arranging quiet time and sleep, driving children to school and other activities, working with children on age-appropriate projects, and other responsibilities. Perhaps you worked at a family or daycare, or babysitting regularly while you were in college.

When should you include babysitting experience on your resume?

It’s important to include babysitting experience on your resume so that hiring managers know that you’ve taken care of children in some way. This shows that you are responsible, driven and most likely creative, team oriented and reliable. You will definitely want to include a nanny resume on your resume if you are applying for a position with a company that provides childcare services to clients or a family that hires you directly to care for their children. Also consider including babysitting experience if you are looking for jobs in these places:

Treat babysitting experience as normal work experience and include it if it is relevant to the position you are applying for. By reading your CV and cover letter, the recruiting manager can be sure that your curriculum vitae is suitable for the position he is recruiting for.

How to add babysitting experience to your resume

Follow these steps to highlight your babysitting experience:

1. Write a goal

The career goal or resume is at the top of the resume and gives the recruiting manager some background information about yourself and why you are a good fit for the position you are applying for. Your resume should include the number of years of babysitting experience, any certifications that are relevant to the role, and a few adjectives that best describe you as an employee.

2. List all babysitting experience

Order your babysitting experience by employer, starting with the most recent. Consider the positions you held in high school, college and other educational institutions, as well as any work experience – from babysitting for neighborhood children to working in a multi-family babysitting service.

For each employer, list the dates you worked there, employer name, city and state, and your job duties and responsibilities. Also be sure to talk about the tasks you did outside of childcare, such as doing light housekeeping or grocery shopping for the family.

You may also list any relevant volunteer positions you have. List where you volunteered, dates, and any programs you helped create and organize.

3. Highlight your skills

The skills section is an important part of your resume because it helps the hiring manager learn more about you as a well-rounded candidate. Include items such as:

  • Organization

  • Musical instruments

  • floor games

  • Time management

  • Compassion

  • Responsibility

  • Self-motivation

  • Communication

  • Creativity

  • Language fluency

  • Excellent driving experience

Review the job description you are applying for to make sure you highlight the most important skills the employer is looking for.

4. Include details of your education in your resume

Create a section on your resume that lists your education. You may choose not to list your high school education if you have a college or university degree. In any case, please include the name of your institution, the degree you received, and your GPA if it is 3.5 or higher. Consider listing the titles of relevant courses you have completed, such as early childhood education, nutrition, literacy, and child psychology.

5. List your certifications

As a nanny, you may have some certifications that will help you excel at work, especially in certain circumstances. For example, you can receive first aid, water safety, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, as well as a Certified Child Care Professional (CCP) certification. When listing certifications, list the name of the certification or training and the time you received it. Your certifications can help you stand out from other candidates and the hiring manager can feel confident in your ability to care for children in a variety of situations.

Tips for including babysitting experience on your resume

Here are a few tips on how to effectively add babysitting experience to your resume:

  • List all your experience as a nanny. Even if you have performed the same duties in multiple positions, find a way to vary the wording you use on your resume, and still be sure to list those positions if you have held them within the last 7-10 years.

  • Subtract your resume. Before sending your resume to an employer, proofread it to make sure it is free of spelling and grammatical errors and that it is a coherent and readable resume for the hiring manager. Ask someone else to review your resume to get a fresh perspective on the situation.

  • Enter the age of the children you cared for. The employer may want to know how many years the children have been in your care. This may be relevant depending on the position you are applying for. For example, if you are applying to an elementary school, the principal may be impressed by your many years of experience caring for children of the same age that you will be working with in your new position.

  • Use action verbs. Action verbs add emphasis to your resume and help you stand out in front of the hiring manager. You can include action verbs such as managed, strengthened, developed, created, and expected.

  • Specify special circumstances. If you have cared for children with special needs who speak a different language or need tutoring, please provide this information.

  • Give examples. Your specific accomplishments can help the hiring manager get to know your background better. Provide examples and key details of your work tasks where relevant.

  • Submit your resume. A recruiting manager may receive multiple applications for the same position. Style your resume with bullets, bold headings, and other styles so your resume can be scanned and the hiring manager doesn’t have to scrutinize you as a candidate.
