Involve older children in conversations about fairness and justice.


Fairness and justice are hot topics for this age group, and that makes these concepts easy for them to relate to.  


  • Define the difference between equality and equity. To put it simply: Equality is when everyone gets the same thing. Equity is when everyone gets what they need to be successful. Challenge your child to look for moments or places when they notice equity and equality in the world. Great places to start are handicapped parking spaces, over-sized bathroom stalls, and Braille in elevators. 
  • Keep the conversation going. As things come up in the news or in your community, talk about them—your child’s opinions and ideas might surprise you! 



Expand your child’s point of view (in big and small ways).


Use everyday moments as teachable opportunities to open your child to other points of view and new experiences. 


  • Explore outside your neighborhood. When signing up for activities, try a music class or a play soccer in a new neighborhood, where you’ll broaden your family’s potential for meeting new groups of people.  
  • Check out community events. Celebrate different cultures, holidays, and observances that are different from yours. Look to your local library for ideas—sometimes they also have free resources and events. 
  • Point out stereotypes and biases when you hear them in stories or see them in books (for example, letting your child know they can be anything they want or have any occupation). 
  • Be upstanders together. Talk about how you might handle a situation when someone isn’t being treated respectfully and how you could support them.  


Learn about understanding and inclusion.


The lessons they learn now will build on new ones as your child grows, helping them develop a foundation for empathy, compassion, and understanding. 


  • Create diverse experiences. Read books that show different cultures, identities, and characters than those in your own home, listen (and dance) to new music genres, enjoy a wide variety of flavors when you eat, and look at art created by artists all over the world. As you build these experiences, they create new thought patterns that help your child see differences as attributes.  
  • Acknowledge similarities and differences. Bring your child’s attention to things they can see that are different and the same about themselves and yourself! Pointing to and naming parts of your body that are the same (i. e., “We both have eyes”) or describing the qualities that are different (i.e., “You have green eyes and I have brown eyes”) can help your child learn to appreciate and accept the ways we are alike yet also unique. 
  • Name feelings in themselves and others. When your child has big feelings, give them a name (i.e., “I see that loud noise made you feel scared”) and let them know it’s okay to express their feelings. Then, you can help them recognize that feeling in others (i.e., “Your friend feels scared right now. Remember when you felt scared?”). These are building blocks for empathy and understanding, which can help interrupt the development of biases before they start.

Baseline Requirements for Nanny + NCS Applicants

  • Newborn Care Specialists (NCS’s), often misrepresented by the terms “baby nurse” or “night nanny,” are invaluable, highly-experienced individuals with extensive training centered around newborn care. While new parents catch up on must-needed sleep, an NCS is able to step in and implement healthy strategies for feeding, sleep schedules, and more. Their ability to lead the way takes giant pressure off of new parents’ shoulders during those first several weeks/months.

    NCS’s (depending on experience and credentials) earn $35-50+/hour.

Babysitting experience is any experience that you have taken care of children. Flexible & Affordable Care

Our two Manchester-based centers are convenient to work and home. Plus, no need to pack up meals and snacks on busy mornings. Our program rates include free breakfast, lunch, and snacks that exceed United States Department of Agriculture guidelines for nutrition. Diapers, wipes, Similac formula, and sunscreen are also available for your child at no additional cost.

Clean, Safe, and Child-Friendly Classrooms

Keeping your child safe and healthy is a priority at Easterseals NH. We have COVID-19 guidelines in place as well as protocols for preventing injury and managing illness in our centers. We follow strict cleaning procedures to keep classrooms neat, clean, and accessible. Weather permitting, we head outside daily for fresh air and fun on the playground.

Enrollment for Academic Year 2023-2024

 

Morningstar’s mission is to develop and connect Big Sky’s young children and families by providing reliable childcare, quality early education, and supportive resources from planning through parenthood. 

Our school operates year round using an academic calendar year, and we have the option for both Part-time and Full-time yearly enrollment. Part-time students attend the same three days a week throughout the year in an effort to maintain consistency with their schedules and the classroom atmosphere.  A Regular day schedule is from 8:30am-4pm with an option for Extended day from 4pm-5:30pm.  Extended day is available for both Part-time and Full-time schedules.

*We are currently closed on Fridays due to a staffing shortage; therefore our Full-time scheduled students attend Monday-Thursday.

 

How enrollment will work:

  • Upon acceptance families will choose whether they want to enroll full-time (5 days a week) or part-time (3 days a week) for the entire year. *Due to a staffing shortage, full-time schedules are currently 4 days a week Monday – Thursday.
  • Part-time families will choose a weekly schedule that they will keep throughout the year.
  • Families who wish to add extended day options will be able to sign up for a limited number of spots for the entire year.
  • Drop-in days will be available to families who choose part-time enrollment, but similar to now, this option will be based on availability and is not guaranteed.
  • Tuition includes materials fees.

    Making changes to enrollment:

    • Families who wish to transition from part-time to full-time during the year will be able to do so pending availability.
    • Families who wish to transition from full-time to part-time during the year will require a 30-day notice and be responsible for the full-time monthly payment for the following 30 days unless their full-time spot is filled.
    • Part-time families who wish to change their weekly schedule will be able to do so pending availability. There will be a change fee and a maximum of two opportunities to change the weekly schedule during the year.
    • Any family who withdraws from enrollment during the year will require a 30-day notice and be responsible for their monthly tuition for the following 30 days after withdrawal unless the spot is filled.
    • Seasonal enrollment policy: Any family who wishes to enroll mid-year is advised to enroll for the entire year to reserve their spot, which will involve paying monthly tuition starting with September of that school year. Families may enroll midyear if there is availability, but we cannot guarantee a spot midyear without enrolling for the entire year.
    • New baby enrollment policy: Any family who wishes to enroll a new infant at age 6 months is advised to notify Morningstar at the earliest opportunity with the expected birth and enrollment dates. Infants will be placed on a waitlist for their expected month of enrollment, and spots will be assigned based on availability in the order of inquiry with preference for in-house families. Availability will be confirmed after the returning student enrollment period has concluded.
