Open a private kindergarten: a business plan with calculations

How to open a private kindergarten, the business plan of which depends on ambitions, initial funds and organizational capabilities? This type of business can hardly be classified as highly profitable; it is not suitable for every locality due to the high cost of the services provided. At the same time, the project itself is not able to bring excess profit to its owner, the monthly income is limited to 100-150 tr.

General

A private kindergarten is best located in a separate house, which can provide all the necessary playgrounds for children. It is difficult to do this in an apartment, since the yards of modern houses are poorly equipped with playgrounds, they constantly have a lot of vehicles that pose a threat to the life and health of children.

In some cases, they are used to convert apartments into private kindergartens. In such options, it is necessary to provide a separate game room and bedroom, kitchen and dining room. The room should be equipped with a sports corner, in which there will be horizontal bars, wall bars, gymnastic balls, and there should be mats on the floor.

Keep in mind that parents will pay from 10 to 25 tr. for each child. per month. This is a lot of money, and parents will want to make sure that they are not giving it away for shabby walls and poor furnishings. The room should be in good repair.

The main value of such an institution is the child development program. Parents will constantly compare the development of their children with others who attend public or other private kindergartens. Therefore, the main criterion for evaluation will be the development of children, their abilities and skills. Emphasis should be placed on the development of reading, counting, visual arts skills. On the other hand, a small number of children allows educators to objectively pay more attention to children, which will certainly affect their level of development even with conventional training programs.

Don’t be fooled by the high cost of services. Groups in such gardens are small – 10-15 people. The number of groups is 1-2, no more. And the company’s income is mainly spent on rent, payroll, food for children. In order to increase the income of such an enterprise, it is necessary either to build (rent) a large room in which 5 groups or more can simultaneously be located, or to develop the project by opening branches throughout the city.

An important point! Such establishments are not successful in regions where the average salary is below the general level in the country. If a family with two working parents earns 35-40 tr. or less, then give 15-20 tr. for a private kindergarten it will be unprofitable for them.

What documents need to be issued?

If a private kindergarten is not going to disguise itself as a development center, then its activities are carried out in accordance with the law “On Education”. This means that any legal entity that carries out educational activities is required to issue a license for this. It is issued by the State Educational Authority of a specific subject of Russia. You will have to apply to the relevant education authority of the region – the ministry, committee or department.

The following documents must be submitted to this authority:

  • constituent documents of the enterprise;
  • lease agreement or documents for the ownership of the premises;
  • conclusions of the sanitary and epidemiological station (SES) and firefighters on the compliance of the premises with the requirements of sanitary, building and fire standards;
  • detailed educational program;
  • data on teaching staff and their qualifications;
  • data on the estimated number of children in the institution;
  • information on the availability of educational and methodological literature;
  • data on the material and technical base.

But most often they go the other way. The good news is that there is no need to obtain a license for developmental and educational activities. Recreation licenses are not required. This means that you do not have to coordinate the selected premises with a representative of government agencies. To do this, you need to call a private kindergarten a development center. In this case, you will have to deal only with representatives of the SES and firefighters, who will periodically come with a check. Only the organizers of the development center will have to explain to the inspectors why children who are in the center part-time need cribs.

Choosing a room

We have already briefly mentioned the room required to open a private kindergarten, but we should dwell on this issue in more detail. Such premises should not be located closer than 50 m to parking lots, garages, gas stations, freeways and any harmful environmental objects. The ceiling in the room must be at least 3 m high, and the window sills must be located at a height of at least 60 cm from the floor. The main windows should face south and east.

There should be no concrete floors. They must have an insulated base. Make sure that the walls of the rooms are resistant to moisture. One child is entitled to 6 m 2 – this should be taken into account when forming a group. 15 children will already demand 90 m 2 . For a kindergarten, the law necessarily requires the presence of a playroom, a bedroom, and a locker room with a dining room.

In the case of strict adherence to the law, it will not be possible to obtain a license for a room that has been converted from an apartment.

Kindergartens can only be organized in non-residential premises.

It is very problematic to transfer an apartment from a housing stock to a non-residential one. It is best to rent a private house, the rent of which will cost from 20 tr per month. Such a house already has its own courtyard, which can be used for a playground.

Even better if you can rent premises in the kindergartens themselves. They have already been made taking into account all the requirements, and renting them costs 1.5-2 times cheaper. But it is problematic to find empty premises of existing kindergartens. You can count on luck only in the old areas, in which many preschool educational institutions were previously built. In order not to search in vain, contact the district State Administration, the department that deals with communal property. In it you can find out exactly which premises suitable for kindergartens are currently idle. Additionally, in this department you can find out about the current regulations, and about the authorities to which you need to contact.

Expenses and income of the project

It was mentioned above that the kindergarten will not bring much income. How does it look in numbers? The room itself still needs to be prepared for a kindergarten. The business plan for a private kindergarten should include the following expenses:

  • repairs – 150 tr;
  • purchase of furniture (tables and chairs, beds and lockers) – 60 tr;
  • purchase of necessary equipment (refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher, stove) – 80 tr.;
  • purchase of educational games, toys and children’s books, consumables in the form of pencils, albums, plasticine – 25 thousand rubles;

Total, the cost of preparing the premises will amount to 315 tr. What expenses should be provided for the enterprise per month? If a kindergarten or center is designed for 15 children, then it is necessary to hire two educators and one nanny, so the payroll will be 60 thousand rubles.

The rental of premises, as indicated above, will take from 20 tr. You will have to spend 35 tr on food. Utilities will cost 7 tr. Unforeseen expenses – 10 tr. The total amount that will be withdrawn monthly is 112 tr.

Payment for the services provided per child is 15 tr. There are 15 children in total, which means that the income of the enterprise will be 225 tr. We subtract monthly expenses and taxes, it remains 106 tr. net profit. It cannot be said that the income of the enterprise is low. And if the room allows you to keep 2 groups of 15 people, then the income will already exceed 200 tr. per month.

But keep in mind that the rent can be twice as high, the cost of the service is cheaper, and the payroll will require more money. In addition, the occupancy of groups is 60-80%, which further reduces the profitability of the enterprise.

Organization of an institution

The main product that is provided to customers is the preparation of the child for school, his general development. If a license was issued for an institution, then the education program is adjusted in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. This does not mean that you cannot introduce your own methods that will more effectively prepare and develop children. But the minimum requirements that are put forward to the licensee will have to be met.

The program must include visits to theaters and museums, parks and architectural monuments. Plan special events in the form of children’s birthdays, sports activities.

To stand out with some advantage over other similar private and public establishments, focus on some benefit. It can be entry-level English or memory development. If children begin to show high performance, there will be no end to customers who are willing to pay big money for the services provided. This will be a signal that you need to expand your business, create separate branches.

Other services can be provided on the basis of such a kindergarten. For example, hourly classes with children who are only trained. This approach can become an alternative to kindergarten, because it does not require large costs and expenses. You can organize such a project both in the apartment and in the office. At the same time, the income of the enterprise will be no less than in a private kindergarten.

The shortage of public educational institutions stimulates business, making a new niche available. Opening a private kindergarten is considered not only a useful idea, but also brings tangible profits. It is important to please the parents and fulfill all the requirements of the state. If you carefully understand what is needed to open a private children’s institution, then such an idea can become your life’s work and a source of impressive income.

Important: be sure to draw up a detailed business plan and take into account all the legal details of paperwork. If in doubt, seek professional help.

Profitable business

Quality pre-school education is in demand. Parents try to give their child all the best – one of the main reasons for the great popularity of a private kindergarten. In addition, the competition in this niche is relatively small and it is profitable to provide not only high-quality, but also unique services. For example, groups with the study of a foreign language, music or drawing. Possible difficulties should also be taken into account: high costs for competent personnel, a certain difficulty in complying with all state regulations and gaining a reputation.

Basic expenses for opening

Is it possible to open a private kindergarten from scratch? Such an idea requires drawing up a detailed business plan and studying the initial costs that are necessary for success and further profit.

What will the money have to be spent on:

• registration of a commercial structure;

• obtaining appropriate permits from the fire service and SES;

• registration and obtaining a license;

• lease or purchase of premises for a kindergarten;

• repair work and interior improvement;

• installation of communications or their repair;

• alarm connection;

• expenses for furniture, office equipment and other props;

• expenses for advertising and marketing tools.

Still, how much does it cost to open a private kindergarten? There is no unequivocal answer to these questions – you need to draw up a phased business plan and take into account your capabilities. Someone has a lot of capital and starts with large investments, other entrepreneurs are initially content with a small organization, developing the business gradually.

It is also important to take into account monthly expenses:

• remuneration of personnel;

• update of training materials;

• food; room maintenance;

• utility bills.

Types of private kindergartens

To open a private kindergarten, you need to understand the classification. There is no official definition, so preschool organizations of this format may be different. There are the main types of private kindergartens:

• home or family type;

• developing club center;

• extended stay or full day.

The family-type organization is often referred to as a home-type organization, as these are childcare groups that vaguely resemble a full-fledged kindergarten. Here you can use living quarters, and the number of children usually does not exceed 10 people. The main feature is that at least one child must be his own. Moreover, large families with three or more children under the age of 7 can officially register such an organization and form a group for other visitors.

Development center or club has a different format. Sleeping places are not provided for children. As a rule, they come here to study and develop according to one or different programs. It is difficult to call such an organization a full-fledged preschool institution – this is a place where mothers can leave their children with benefit for several hours. Opening a development center is much easier than a full-fledged preschool organization, while the demand is quite large.

Children’s pre-school organizations that allow you to leave the child for the whole day are considered analogues of municipal kindergartens. These can be small groups similar in format to the family type, but without being tied to the requirements of a large family. There are some subtleties: the presence or absence of an educational license. In the first case, educators officially have the right to prepare children for school, to conduct appropriate classes in any educational system. If there is no license, they take care of the child, but do not call it study.

Game room interior

Advantages and disadvantages of private kindergartens

Taking a child to a private kindergarten is considered a prestigious and convenient format for most parents, but all the pros and cons must be taken into account. Let’s take a look at the main benefits.

There is always room. For a private preschool institution, there are no such problems as having a long queue. Owners always create additional groups: no need to enroll children in advance. Moreover, in municipal kindergartens, the turn comes up to several years.

Quality primary education. Even in the absence of a license, the child develops fully and receives basic preparation for elementary school. Private structures value their reputation, so you can be sure of the professionalism of the staff.

Security. To open a private kindergarten, a number of requirements must be met, among which the presence of an alarm is considered one of the main ones. Children are protected from different angles: they are under constant supervision, the room meets all safety standards.

Good food. As a rule, the owners of private preschool structures are scrupulous about the quality of the services provided, especially with regard to food. Here you can definitely count on a varied and healthy menu, agreed with parents.

Improvement and comfort. Preparation of the premises requires certain costs and must comply with all state standards – here you can already count on a good quality of repair. Furniture, toys and educational materials look no less attractive, which are regularly updated and selected in accordance with children’s needs.

The interior of a private kindergarten

There are also disadvantages:

• there is almost always no area for walking on the street;

• high cost;

• There are quite a few establishments of this format in small towns.

Important: before opening, try to enter the client role. This will help to avoid mistakes that seemed invisible when drawing up a business plan.

Legal subtleties

Opening a private kindergarten is possible only with the correct execution and receipt of the relevant documents. The first step is registration. The regulation does not provide for a specific law firm to conduct this business, so you can choose it yourself. The following options are available: IP; OOO; ANO; DOW.

The first two formats are suitable for opening a family-type children’s institution, a club development organization or a full-fledged general educational preschool institution. The question immediately arises: do you need a license? You can do without it in the first two cases. But if you open a full-fledged analogue of a municipal kindergarten, then a license is required.

When opening an individual entrepreneur or LLC, a package of documents is required:

• a certificate confirming the registration of the relevant law firm;

ANO and PEI are non-profit organizations providing preschool educational services. The format is considered the most common, but it is quite difficult to collect documents. To open a non-profit kindergarten, you need to issue:

• license;

• contract for the purchase or lease of premises;

• a package of work permits from the regional administration, the fire inspectorate and Rospotrebnadzor;

• work permit for a food unit and a speech therapist;

• personnel documentation; information stand.

All forms of ownership provide for the necessary OKVED codes, opening a current account and choosing a taxation system. For example, when choosing a simplified form, you can do without a license and provide services under a patent.

Equipment and premises

What documents regulate the norms and requirements for placing children and choosing the necessary props? The basic rules are presented in SanPin and SNiP. This is a fairly large list to follow. The key points include:

• at least three rooms – games room, bedroom and dining room;

• There must be at least six square meters of space per child;

• Compliance with indoor humidity and temperature standards;

• no slippery floor and environmentally friendly finishing materials.

You will definitely have to equip a sports hall, a medical office, a certain number of toilets and much more. Furniture, equipment and toys must comply with safety standards – this is important not only for the absence of claims from regulatory authorities, but also for creating a reputation that guarantees business success.

Attracting clients

When opening a private kindergarten, it is important to take into account the full development of the business, where the main source of income is the parents of children. At the initial stage, generally accepted marketing tools are used:

• advertising in the media;

• provision of bonuses and discounts for the first visitors;

• social media targeting.

One of the important points is the analysis of the target audience, for which the rest of the points are configured. For example, the right choice of location will be comfortable for parents, and the absence of competitors nearby will help to attract customers faster at minimal cost.

Eco-friendly interiors

Possible risks

Any business can go wrong as originally planned. Possible risks:

• absence of clients;

• competitors;

• falling solvency of the population;

• lack of qualified specialists;

• Security issues.

To minimize risks, it is important to eliminate possible errors. For example, analyze the target audience and the presence of nearby competitors in advance, familiarize yourself with vacancies in the labor market in advance. It is impossible to insure against global financial crises, but competent business management will help you stay afloat in any situation.

Working with children is fraught with certain difficulties – kids get sick, get injured. And here it is important to choose the right staff, premises and equipment, creating safe and most comfortable conditions for them.

Important: the niche of kindergartens will always be in demand. But it has cycles, like any other business. Therefore, your business needs to be competitive. A crisis is not a time to give up and give up on everything, but a period when you need to think more and work even harder. And there should be a smart and strong team of specialists nearby.

If you are looking for premises to open a private kindergarten, just go to the main page and select the appropriate option.

Become a Skydiving Instructor – Licensing, Teacher Pay, Job Resources

Can you imagine jumping out of a perfectly good airplane? People do it every day. It’s called skydiving. For some it’s absolutely terrifying to consider jumping out of a plane, but for others it’s a fun and exhilarating experience. You can’t go skydiving without some training from a skydive instructor.

Skydiving instructors teach people the basics of skydiving. They take willing adults miles in the air and let them dive out of an airplane. Surprisingly it’s quite safe.

It is also very addicting. Once you dive, you’ll most likely want to go again and again. It’s as close as a human can get to flying. As a skydiving instructor you can afford this expensively addicting sport because you have students.

When you start skydiving you will attend a skydiving school where you will learn about equipment, drop zones, airplanes, freefalls, canopy flights, and landings. This is all covered over several hours in ground school. It’s best to find one approved by the United States Parachute Association.

After ground school you will load the plane and fly to an elevation about 2 to 3 miles about the ground. There you will jump out of the plane and put your new knowledge to work. As you dive out of the plane you will focus on proper body position. Then you will freefall for about a minute at about 120 miles per hour, or terminal velocity. Eventually you’ll open your parachute and enjoy 100-mile views as you float back to Earth.

A parachuting expert needs to skydive regularly and pay close attention to details and safety. You’ll also need to earn skydiving licenses, which will ultimately let you become an instructor. Your student jumps, courses, and gear are your skydiving tuition. It can be expensive, but it’s worth it. To become an instructor you need to be a member of the United States Parachute Association and log at least 500 jumps and 3 hours of freefall.

There are several levels of skydiving professionals – coach, instructor, examiner, pro, and judge. Each certification tests your knowledge, skill, and experience. Be sure to log your dives. Always record jump number, date, location, exit altitude, length of freefall, type of jump, distance from landing, equipment, and buddy.  There are also challenging oral, written, and practical exams.

Skydiving is a weekend, weather dependent sport, which is nice because it allows you to start your skydiving career part time. On any given day, you can do up to 10 or so jumps. Being a skydiving instructor is a pretty great gig about 10 months a year. During the winter it is too cold. For year round work, look in places like sunny California. Check for work at your local drop zone or online skydiving websites.

Instructors often work sunup to sundown teaching, packing parachutes, and skydiving. Wages will depend on where you work and how many dives you do. Some drop zones pay by the hour, but most pay by the jump. Many instructors do about 1000 dives per year at about $25 to $35 per dive. They can supplement that income by earning a riggers ticket to pack parachutes and make about $10 to $15 for each parachute they pack. At the end of the year, full time skydiving instructors will make between $20,000 and $40,000.

Skydiving instructors quite possibly have one of the most adrenaline pumping instructor jobs out there. They manage to take complete novices miles into the air, jump out of airplanes, and make it to the ground safely. If you think you might be ready for a job like that, go skydiving this weekend to see if it’s the career for you.

How Much Do Skydiving Instructors Make Per Student?

In the United States, skydiving instructor jobs tend to be seasonal or part-time. And while instructors can be hired as salaried employees, they are more or less paid for each class they supervise. According to reports, an instructor can be paid on a per-student, per class rate of about $20 – $30, although this figure tends to also vary depending on the instructor’s credentials and expertise, as well as other factors.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that self-enrichment education teachers, such as skydiving instructors, could expect a much faster than average job growth from 2018 to 2028, a 12 percent rate. The average salary will also be largely dependent on the reputation of the skydiving company and the location, which can help determine how many people are interested in trying skydiving.

Most skydiving instructors tend to venture into this field with a license and basic education, proving that they are well-versed and experienced in executing safe jumps, easy landings, and other job duties. However, just like was expressed above, the salary can be unpredictable; an increasing job growth rate highlights a very popular career for most people interested in teaching skydiving.

Skydiving is a job in which safety is paramount, especially since it is considered a high-speed activity in which you risk injury and death. If you have a history of epilepsy, obesity, heart problems or other conditions, you may not be able to work as a skydiver.

Howbeit, to stay on top of safety details, you will need to skydive regularly, consistently, and expertly perform all procedures, and maintain good judgment. Skydivers who are trained well, who stay current with safety precautions, and take a conservative approach to the job have very few accidents or injuries.

There are many perks to the job – flying in airplanes all day, daydreaming with your head in the clouds, and of course, freefall. Being a skydiving instructor means getting paid to be a certified commando. Here are the steps to take to achieve this very inspiring feat.

  1. Earn a Skydiving License

In the United States, there are no formal licensure requirements to become a skydiving instructor. However, it might be nice to acquire one or more instructional ratings through the United States Parachute Association (USPA). Before pursuing these ratings, you are expected to earn your voluntary skydiving licensure, which first requires membership in the USPA.

There are four classes of skydiving licenses, which are awarded based on a skydiver’s proficiency. But to get a license, you are expected to submit a log of your jumps that includes the jump number, date, location, exit altitude, and length of time in free fall, as well as the distance you landed from your target, equipment you used and a signature verifying the jump. In addition, logs need to show what kind of jump it was, such as flying, canopy formation, or style jump.

  1. Learn The Ropes

The two basic requirements to become a professional skydiving tandem instructor are 500 skydives and 3 years in the sport of skydiving. So when you first start skydiving it may seem like an impossible number to hit 500 jumps. However, once you get your license to skydive it becomes very easy to make several hundred jumps a season.

In the United States, lift tickets for licensed skydivers are only $27 which makes it much more affordable to skydive several times a day. Aside from requiring 500 skydives to become a Tandem Instructor, note that you need to have been in the sport for 3 years.

This requirement is to help skydivers learn all there is to know about the industry before they are allowed to start taking passengers on their first tandem skydives. There is so much to learn about the sport of skydiving that it takes several years of being around the sport to learn the fundamentals

  1. Pursue Instructional Ratings

In the United States, to earn an instructional rating as a skydiving instructor, you are expected to pass an exam administered by the USPA, have an advanced skydiving license, display mastery of skydiving techniques, and demonstrate teaching proficiency. Note there are three types of instructor positions you could hold, including a coach, instructor, and instructor examiner.

As an instructor, you will mainly teach jump courses in one or more of the following areas: harness holding, assisted deployment, static line, or tandem jumping. You also might oversee coaches, who could instruct students in certain jump and free fall skills while under your supervision.

The instructor examiner is the apex of the USPA instructional rating program. As such, you would represent the USPA regarding specific drop zones. This typically includes offering advice to skydivers and providing administrative services.

  1. Attend USPA Tandem Training Course

At this point, you’ve completed your training: USPA D License, 500 Skydives, 3 years in the sport, and USPA Coach Rating. Now it is time to hit the books and attend your final training course. In the United States, tandem instructors are required to take a course through the USPA. This course is designed to teach the instructors how to take passengers on their first tandem skydives and to learn how to operate the parachute system.

Conclusion

Have it in mind that Skydiving tends to be seasonal work, based largely on weather conditions. You jump out of planes, focusing on the proper body positioning. After jumping, you will free-fall for about 60 seconds, traveling at close to 120 miles per hour. Once you open your parachute, you will enjoy 100 – mile views as you float to Earth. As a skydiving instructor, you will train people in harness holding, assisted deployment, static line, and tandem jumping.

Note that most of your work will take place Earth-bound, more or less requiring you to oversee coaches or serve as an examiner of the instructional rating program of the United States Parachute Association (USPA). Also note that you will spend a lot of time checking and rechecking your gear and that of your fellow divers, making sure all parachutes will function properly every single time they are activated.

What are the tasks of the instructor

Beginners to master all the subtleties of skydiving cannot do without their teacher and mentor, who the instructor will be. In addition, the ground training course includes training on simulators, theoretical lectures on behavior before the jump, during the flight and at the time of landing, moral support is provided.
