It helped children under four years of age
Slava Gomeniuk
A patch with a small dose of peanut antigen, which is glued between the shoulder blades, significantly reduces sensitivity to peanuts in children under four years of age – this was confirmed by the third phase of clinical trials. The drug has proven to be effective and safe, although it has the potential to cause anaphylactic shock. The results of the study were published in The New England Journal of Medicine .
Despite the emergence of many desensitization strategies (reducing sensitivity to the allergen and increasing the threshold dose of the allergen at which an allergic reaction develops), there are no approved treatments for children under four years of age. Although scientists and doctors agree that early introduction of peanuts into complementary foods can significantly reduce the risk of a child’s peanut allergy, this tactic can be considered a method of preventing allergies rather than treating them. Oral immunotherapy with peanut preparations has been developed for children under four years of age, but the capsules have a difficult regimen and a high risk of developing serious side effects.
Children from 4 to 11 years of age have been treated with skin immunotherapy, a patch with 250 micrograms of peanut protein, which is much less than any alternative treatment and therefore reduces the risk of side effects. Matthew Greenhawt of the University of Colorado conducted a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial in which the patch was used in children under four years of age in eight countries. The main criteria for inclusion in the trials were a diagnosis of peanut allergy, with a high level of specific immunoglobulin E and a positive skin test for peanuts.
A total of 362 patients were included in the study – 68.8 percent of them were boys, and the average age was 2.5 years. Participants of the study group (244 people) daily for a year were glued a patch with lyophilized peanut protein between the shoulder blades. The median daily patch wear time was 22.2 hours in the study group and 23.7 hours in the control group, where the placebo patch was applied to participants. At the end of the study, there were 208 children in the study group and 99 in the placebo group.
After one year, 67 percent of study group participants were able to eat between one and four peanut “nuts” depending on initial allergen tolerance; in the control group, this indicator reached 33.5 percent (p < 0.001). Desensitization, calculated from the dose of peanut protein that causes allergic reactions, decreased significantly and statistically significantly in the study group, where children applied the allergen patch daily.
One year later, peanut-specific immunoglobulin E decreased from baseline in children who wore medicated patches and increased in patients who received placebo. At the same time, the level of immunoglobulins G increased in the blood of the participants in the study group. The most common side effects of the medicated patch were redness, itching, and swelling in the area of application, all symptoms subsided over time. One child developed swelling of the tissues around the eyes, and anaphylaxis, reported in 7.8 percent of the participants in the treatment group, was recognized by researchers as a “potentially related” side effect of the patch.
Thus, scientists claim the effectiveness of the treatment (desensitization) of peanut allergy in children under four years of age with the help of a peanut patch. At the same time, this method of treatment turned out to be quite safe (most likely due to the small dose of the allergen in the patch) and convenient – there is no need to take pills on a strict schedule. Scientists expect soon the approval of such a method of treatment.
Since peanut allergy affects so many children and can cost health care systems a lot of money, scientists are looking for a variety of ways to cure it. For example, they boiled peanuts for 12 hours, then to give them to children with allergies. After a year of such treatment, most children were able to eat a few roasted peanut “nuts”, which are added to most foods.

Aspirin reduced the risk of developing a liver tumor in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Even in patients with a high risk of developing it
Slava Gomeniuk
Daily aspirin intake reduces the risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Overall, the ten-year cumulative tumor rate in the treatment group was significantly lower than in the no-aspirin group. A similar reduction in the risk of developing carcinoma was observed in the group with an increased risk of developing it. The study was published in the journal eClinicalMedicine.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects more than a billion people worldwide. It develops against the background of insulin resistance and metabolic disorders in obesity: fat accumulation occurs in the liver cells, which ultimately can lead to chronic hepatitis, progressive fibrosis, cirrhosis and the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. In the United States, the number of patients diagnosed with NAFLD-related carcinoma is increasing by nine percent per year. Therefore, the problem of preventing hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with NAFLD, which is becoming more and more, is becoming increasingly important.
A promising pharmacological agent that can protect against this tumor may be aspirin. It has been extensively researched for its chemopreventive effect in diseases that are accompanied by chronic inflammation. For example, it is recommended for primary prevention of colorectal cancer. Since chronic inflammation in the liver plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma, aspirin could help here as well.
Chun-Ying Wu and colleagues at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital conducted a retrospective cohort study in which they examined the effect of daily aspirin on the development of hepatocellular carcinoma in NAFLD patients. To do this, they identified two groups: 33,484 people who took aspirin daily and 55,543 people who did not take aspirin. The median age in the treated group was 63.5 years, with the vast majority (98.4 percent) was taking aspirin at a dosage of 100 milligrams to prevent cardiovascular disease. The mean duration of aspirin therapy was 8.4 years.
In the initial analysis, the researchers found that the cumulative incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma over ten years among people with NAFLD who took aspirin was significantly lower than in the group where patients did not take aspirin (p < 0.001). With additional statistical analysis, this relationship remained significant: in the first group, the incidence of tumor development was lower by 52 percent (p < 0.001).
Among patients with a high risk of developing a tumor (over 55 years of age and with a high level of alanine aminotransferase in the blood), a similar decrease in the cumulative incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma was observed: it was lower in the treatment group by 37 percent (p < 0. 001). Moreover, a greater percentage of the decrease in the cumulative frequency was observed in the cohort of patients who took aspirin daily for at least three years. In this study, the cumulative overall rate of major bleeding in both groups was not significantly different. However, bleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers was more common in the aspirin group.
However, aspirin also has undesirable effects. We recently reported that aspirin, regardless of bleeding risk, lowered ferritin levels and increased the risk of anemia in otherwise healthy older adults.

Peanut patch can help children with nut allergy eat nuts – Search
Peanut patch may help suppress allergic reactions in children with nut allergy, according to the latest clinical trials by an international team of researchers.
Wearing the patch for 12 months was effective in desensitizing babies with mild peanut allergies, meaning they could tolerate small amounts of peanuts without allergic symptoms.
Two-thirds of the 244 children wearing the skin patch lost their sensitivity to peanuts, compared with one-third of the 118 babies in the placebo group (who probably outgrew their allergies over a longer period of time, as some children do).
The test results “are very good news for toddlers and their families as it is the next step towards a future with more food allergy treatments,” writes Alkis Togias, an allergist-immunologist at the U.S. National Institutes of Health who was not involved in the study. . trial.
Children were considered desensitized if they could tolerate the equivalent of one to four peanuts after treatment—enough to protect them from accidental exposure.
“Families indicated that treatment that protected their children from reactions to unintended peanut exposure would improve the socialization of the children and the quality of life of the children and their families,” the research team wrote.
Patches are designed to expose children to small, controlled doses of a known allergen, in this case peanut protein, through the skin. Deliberately exposing children with allergies to their kryptonite sounds risky, but new evidence suggests it could work.
Our understanding of childhood food allergies is changing rapidly. Many of the studies are conducted in Australia, the Food Allergy Capital of the World, where studies have shown that one in ten babies has a food allergy.
Children with eczema also have higher rates of food allergies, and a growing body of evidence suggests that this may be because they were exposed to allergy-causing foods through their skin before eating them, which fools the body’s immune system into thinking that food is bad.
Allergists have also come to realize that there is a small window in which to intervene to prevent food allergies. In Australia, as in the US, parents are now encouraged to introduce known food allergens such as peanuts to their children’s diets rather than avoid them in order to “nip allergies in the bud.”
But there is no cure for children who develop food allergies—and there are no approved treatments for children under four years of age.

4 Frequently Asked Questions About Fun Jobs
1.
What Is the Best Profession in the World for Having Fun?
In terms of what’s most enjoyable, the best profession in the world is whatever lets you make a living by doing at least one of your favorite activities. So the answer is different for everyone. Simply put, everybody has different interests and, therefore, different opinions on what constitutes the ultimate fun career. However, there are some common factors in what makes a job fun: diverse work and achievable challenges.
So, what are your biggest interests? Chances are, you can pursue a career that incorporates one or more of them in some way. For example, as mentioned above, marketing, software development, and video game design are fun jobs that pay well if you have a strong interest in using your creativity to promote or produce things that are useful or entertaining. And veterinary technology and aviation maintenance are good careers if you love caring for animals or doing fascinating mechanical work.
2. Do College Majors Matter When It Comes to Getting a Fun Job?
It depends. College majors do matter if the career you want has very specific educational requirements. For instance, to get a fun job as an architect, you will first need to major in architecture. (Otherwise, you can’t get a license to practice that profession.) However, for most careers, you have a lot more leeway in choosing your college major. You may simply need an associate or bachelor’s degree—in anything. That said, individual employers will always have their own preferences when it comes to college majors. Because many occupations have licensing or certification requirements, you may need to take specific courses, even if they aren’t part of your major.
Some of today’s most enjoyable occupations only need two years or less of college or trade school education. The highest-paying jobs that don’t require a degree at the bachelor’s level include occupations like dental hygiene, medical ultrasound technology, web development, computer animation, and the electrical trade.
3. The Wine Industry Looks Fun, But Is It Really a Good Option?
Yes, it certainly can be, especially if you’re one of the professionals in charge of growing the grapes or making the wine. Wine specialists often reap a lot of enjoyment from their jobs. After all, think about what they do: A viticulturist does highly satisfying work by using science to oversee soil preparation and the planting, growing, and harvesting of high-quality grapes. And winemakers (often called enologists) get to use science to transform ripe grapes into great-tasting wine. In some wineries, those two roles even overlap.
4. Creating Art Is Fun. What Are the Best Jobs for Artists?
Making a good living as an artist is possible. Whether you are a self-employed artist or work for an employer, your options may only be limited by your creativity and imagination. Illustration, painting, sculpture, ceramics, tattoo design, glassblowing, and jewelry making are some art careers that most people know about. But if you have artistic talent, you can pursue all kinds of other career paths.
For example, art directing, college-level teaching, multimedia artistry, and graphic design are good jobs that pay well if you have the right creative skills. Check out the median salaries to see why these are some of the best jobs for artists:
Art directors: $100,890
Multimedia artists and animators: $78,790
Post-secondary art teachers: $75,940
Graphic designers: $50,710

Education & Training FAQs
What is the best degree for software engineers or developers?
The best choice is a bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science. Both programs cover the fundamentals of programming and are designed to help students hone their problem-solving abilities. However, there are some differences.
Computer science programs are concerned with understanding how computers work. They emphasize applied mathematics and the theory of computing. Students learn how data is stored and processed and receive training in areas like creating software and working with databases.
Software engineering programs focus on designing and building software systems and programs. They are more narrowly focused than computer science programs and usually involve more coursework related to programming languages and product design.
So which is better: software engineering or computer science? That depends on your goals (and on the specifics of each program, since every institution does things a little differently).
Generally, if you want a broader understanding of computing technology and a degree that’s applicable to a wide range of occupations, computer science might be the way to go. If you’re more interested in focusing on development, testing, and project management, then software engineering might be a better choice.
Can I be a software engineer with an IT degree?
Yes. Any computer-related degree program will give you valuable skills that can be applied to software development. In particular, if you have expertise or experience in analyzing requirements, writing code, or testing software, you can likely find opportunities as a software engineer or developer.
In fact, you can be a software engineer with a degree in virtually any field, or even without a degree at all. In this industry, it’s what you can do that matters, not what educational credentials you hold.
Does software engineering require math?
Most software developer schools include required courses in topics like linear algebra, discrete mathematics, probability, statistics, and calculus. So, you will need to complete those in order to get your degree.
However, depending on your area of focus, you don’t necessarily have to be great at math to work as a software engineer. You do have to be able to use logical reasoning. And certain specialties are more math-intensive than others, such as game development, robotics, machine learning, and graphics.

Job Openings & Outlook
A report from CompTIA found that software and web developer jobs were growing faster than any other category within the tech sector. And according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), employment of software developers is expected to grow by 26 percent from 2021 to 2031.** That’s over four times faster than the projected growth rate for all occupations overall.
Specifically, the OOH notes that software quality assurance analysts and testers should see job growth of 21 percent.**
The numbers suggest there is a shortage of software engineers and developers. One report found that across the U.S., over 200,000 software developer positions were vacant because companies could not find enough qualified candidates.
Employment projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimate that an average of 143,400 software development jobs will open up each year from 2021 to 2031.** Close to three-quarters of those openings will be for applications developers.
Key Benefits
Potential for high pay: At least half of all software developers earn six-figure salaries, according to OEWS program estimates.
Opportunities to be creative and solve problems: It can be very satisfying to use technology in innovative ways that help organizations and end users achieve their goals.
The excitement of always learning: You can add to your repertoire with formal training, certifications, or go more self-directed with MOOCs (massive open online courses).
What a Software Developer Does
There are two main types of software developers.
Applications developers create the programs that users interact with to carry out a specific task. Examples include word processors, web browsers, image-editing programs, mobile apps, and video games.
Systems developers design the systems and utilities that keep computer hardware running. This type of software works in the background and provides the platform upon which software applications are built. Examples include device drivers, compilers, debuggers, and operating systems like Windows 10 or Apple iOS.
The actual job duties are much the same in both cases. Software developers typically:
Gather user, performance, and security requirements
Analyze requirements to plan software specifications
Write, test, and validate code (or assign those tasks to computer programmers)
Modify software to fix bugs, improve performance, or integrate with new hardware
Document their activities to make future upgrades or maintenance easier
Work Settings
Around one-third of software developers work for computer design companies, according to the OOH. Many are also employed in the finance, insurance, manufacturing, and software publishing industries.
The OOH also says that one-third of all software quality assurance analysts and testers work in computer systems design. Many also work in finance and insurance, software publishing, and manufacturing.
Software engineers and developers frequently work in offices but may also work from home.
Specializations
The software development field offers many potential specializations. Here are a few examples:
Front-end developer: Sometimes known as client-side developers, these are the people who design the user interface of a web or mobile application. They make sure that the app appears the way it should in different browsers, operating systems, and devices.
Back-end developer: Also known as server-side developers, these professionals are responsible for what happens behind the scenes whenever a user performs an action on an application. They develop the logic that allows the application to communicate with a server and a database.
Full-stack developer: Work on both the client and server side of an application.
Embedded developer: Engineer software for things that are not traditionally thought of as computers, such as medical devices, gaming controllers, smartwatches, and self-driving cars.
Mobile application developer: Design and build apps to run on devices like tablets and smartphones.
Game developer: Write the code that powers the features and functionality of video games.
IT analyst: Also known as computer systems analysts, these specialists design customized software solutions to help organizations operate more efficiently or effectively.
Software architect: Design the overall structure of a software project and enforce standards related to coding and compliance.
Career FAQs
What’s the difference between a software developer and a software engineer?
There is no universally accepted distinction between these two roles. Some industry experts say that software engineers use engineering principles to manage the development process while software developers come up with the conceptual design and build the actual product. In that scenario, engineers would be like the architects and developers would be like the contractors.
In reality, the two titles are used fairly interchangeably. A senior-level developer essentially functions as an engineer, meaning that he or she uses scientific methods to come up with solutions to practical problems.
Keep in mind that software creation is not a regulated field. Unlike civil engineers or electrical engineers, software engineers do not require any special licensing. So, in many cases, it’s really just a matter of word choice.
Is it hard to learn how to become a software engineer/developer?
For those with the drive to continually learn new technologies and explore new solutions, it’s not too difficult to become a software developer. Formal training is generally the best way to get started, but plenty of developers have forged successful careers through self-study and determination.
It’s important to have an analytical mindset, good problem-solving skills, and an openness to new ideas. You might also want to try:
Is software development a good career?
In a word: yes. The software development field offers a nearly unbeatable combination of challenging work, high earnings, and huge demand. Another advantage is flexibility: Developers can work on-staff for companies of any size or become self-employed contractors or consultants. And many work remotely at least some of the time.
This is a career that allows you to transform ideas into innovative products. Getting paid to use cutting-edge technology to solve problems is hugely appealing for many people.

A well-paid profession right after school is easy if you are on SPO
The world around modern children is developing too quickly – 11 years at school, and then 4-5 at the “tower” can be wasted, education received with great effort will become unnecessary, illiquid. Especially if you immediately chose “wrong”, i.e. made a mistake with what you want to do and, although now you can change the direction of study, you will still spend 3 years on something that is not useful to you.
How not to waste your time after school?
Most VET programs take 3 years in total. 3 years and you are already a ready-made specialist. Many SVE students work from the 1st year and by the end of their studies have real experience and skills in their profession.
In addition, SVE is much easier to get into, students are also provided with benefits for travel, hostel and scholarship – all the delights of student life in addition to paid internships and an almost 100% chance of employment. Large enterprises and industries often cooperate with various colleges and, if you prove yourself, you can find a permanent job.
Studying at a secondary vocational school even helps to get a higher education – many universities have their own colleges, whose graduates are given benefits when entering higher education in this university.
Whom to study?
The list of specialties in free software has recently been updated, there are many popular, modern professions: industrial automation, industrial robotics, electrical installation, laboratory chemical analysis, python programming, BIM design of buildings and structures, microelectronics and many others.
The most striking example of the profession of the future, i. the one that will not become obsolete in the near future, but will only become more popular is the direction of study – “Automated process control system specialist” or a specialist in automated process control systems. He is engaged in the design, commissioning of automation systems for various types of industries, and also monitors their reliability and reliability.
How to choose the right college?
The college is chosen in the same way as the university. Employability, the quality of education, the infrastructure around and within the college, and the modernity of the teaching approach are important.
A good example of a modern secondary school is the Alabuga Economic Zone Polytechnic University – they provide free housing, help especially talented students get to the place of study, and also guarantee employment from the 1st year.
When choosing a place of study, it is worth evaluating the ratio of your comfort from studying, the demand for the profession you receive and the interest of the educational institution in you.

Education in Finland: study less – know much more
Finnish education has long been considered one of the best in the world. It was Finnish schoolchildren who showed the highest level of knowledge in the world, according to research by the very authoritative Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. In addition, little Finns are the most reading children on the planet. And all this despite the fact that students spend the least amount of time at the school desk than all other students, and the teaching profession here is very prestigious and highly paid.

Secondary compulsory education in Finland includes two levels of education: lower (alakoulu) from grades 1 to 6 and upper (yläkoulu) from grades 7 to 9th class. After graduating from the 10th grade, where they can improve their grades, the children go to a vocational college or continue their studies at a lyceum (lukio) – 11-12th grades.
There are no elite and ordinary schools in Finland – everywhere they follow the principle of equality. The largest school in the country has 960 students, while the smallest has only 11 students. At the same time, they all have exactly the same equipment, capabilities and proportional funding. Almost all schools are public, but there are also private-public schools that impose increased requirements on students and follow the chosen pedagogy, for example, in Montessori, Fresne or the Waldorf school. Until recently, the Finns were even forbidden to choose a school, they had to send their children to the nearest one.
Education at school, as well as meals, textbooks, stationery and even laptops, tablets, excursions, museum visits and transport are free for students.
Finland does not encourage in-depth study of any subjects. Questionnaires regarding the social status of the family and the profession of parents are prohibited in schools. Just like comparing students, dividing them into “good” and “bad”, excellent students and losers.

Day Care Centers Site
More and more in today’s world both parents have employment and need suitable day care centers for their children. These early stages in a child’s life are very important to their growth and development. Choosing a good child day care center is vital, one where the adult won’t just plunk your children down in front of a soap opera all day and feed them Top Ramen. You should look for day care centers that provide learning programs and playtime for your child, along with a safe and healthy environment.
There are many different types of day care centers, ranging from basic nurseries to preschools that will provide more of a learning environment for your children. Some day care centers specialize in a specific age range, while others are more open. When you’re contemplating placing your child in a specific day care center, you should visit each one with your child. In this way, you can see how your child reacts to the other children who are there and to the caregiver. You want your child to be happy and comfortable.
While some day care centers provide a greater variety of activities than others, any good day care center is going to encourage positive interaction among all of the children. They will also have rules that promote good behavior, learning, manners, and child development. You certainly don’t want to have to worry that your child is going to develop bad habits from day care.
Our Most Recent Additions to the Child Care Provider Directory
Wee Care Three
809 Coldwater Rd Murray, KY 42071 Phone Number: (270) 759-5425 Providing the child care and day care services:Day Care Center / Nursery, Child Care Provider
While you don’t need to go overboard in choosing suitable day care centers, you should approach the subject seriously and with thought. Your child is going to be spending a good-sized portion of his or her life in day cares and you want to make sure it is going to be a positive experience. Family is the most important thing in the world and you should make sure that your children are your first priority. When you are considering a day care center, you should look at where it is located and how much it costs. There’s not much sense in putting your son or daughter in daycare so that you can work full time and spending most of what you earn on the day care center’s tuitions and your travel expenses. If that’s the case, you might as well stay home with your child. However, if you do truly need the money, there are usually plenty of day care services available and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find one close by that is reasonably priced.
Different Kinds of Child day Care Centers
While child day care centers are common, there is such a huge demand for this service that there are now quite a variety of options available other than basic day care. These include the following:
Home child care or family childcare
Child care services
Preschool
Nursery
Home child care tends to be the most popular option because it is generally more affordable and a smaller environment. While some day care centers are quite large and can provide better early childhood education, it is also more difficult for each child to receive personal attention. Day care centers that are based out of someone’s home are usually more personal and your child can receive more care and nurturing. Most parents want their children to be receiving love and affection, the care that they themselves would give them. They don’t want a day care business that is merely going to make sure that their child is still alive and adequately healthy.
Home child care providers are also more adaptable, generally speaking. This means that if your child likes a certain song sung to them before they take their nap each day, the home care provider is more likely to be willing to do that than someone in a larger day care facility. Most adult home child care providers are parents themselves, making them better able to understand and love your child.
Other Things to Think About
One of the first steps you should take after picking out a family day care center that you think will be suitable for your child is do a little investigating. This can involve talking to the parents of the other children that use the child day care center to see what they think about it. You should also always check to make sure the child care service you are considering is legally licensed to operate in your state. Licensing officials check criminal records and ensure that the child care provider has emergency response training and a safe and healthy environment for the children. As mentioned earlier, it is a good idea to visit the child day care center that you are considering. You should do this at least a couple of times, and try to go at different times of the day so that you can get a better idea of what kind of schedule they have. This will help you to see how your own child would fit in. If you are having difficulties finding the appropriate child care environment for your son or daughter, there are some other options. Some people get family and friends to help out, while others hire a nanny. Adult nannies are a good option because they ensure that your child receives personal attention and quality child care. However, this also means that your child will not receive as much social interaction since he or she won’t have other children to play with like in a family day care center.
No matter what option you decide to go with, make sure that you know who you are leaving your child with. Meet them, get to know them, and let your child do the same. Do some research on the internet to make sure that no one has had negative experiences with the day care center you are considering. Check to make sure that they are legally licensed. Once you have done all of this, you can feel more confident and secure in knowing that you have chosen the right day care center for your child.
Switching Day Care Centers
Choosing Another Child Care Provider
So you want to switch day care providers for your kids but you don’t know where to start or what to choose among the plethora of options out there in this world. It is fittingly one of the most important decisions of a young parent’s journey due to the fact that a child’s first formative years up until the age of six is critical. It is important for parents to not just consider the monetary impact of these choices but also the emotional, intellectual, and social future impacts the choice of a day care provider will have on their kids in the long term future. So let’s discuss some general tips to consider for the parent and the child to consider when one is looking to switch day care providers within a short time frame.
First, you must consider the cost of attending some of the more prestigious and rigorous day care provider centers in your area. In some areas, let’s face the reality that the more money per month per child spent; the better the facilities and the educational value experience offered for your child. Things such as using smart boards and I Pad’s to enhance the learning experience is a very real possibility in these places. However, if a parent is budget conscious they can still afford this experience but it would mean cutting back on all or most non-necessity spending. This would include curbing your eating out habits as well as any leisure entertainment or travel activity and place that money instead into your child’s future day care home. If an expensive day care sees that you are making an effort to keep up with the payments; then they will be more willing to work with you and not let your child leave that place. For a child going to this environment, they need to consider whether or not they will fit into this environment, things like playtime, feeding time, and individual care of the staff- is it received well by the child? These will make the difference between choosing these ones or a cheaper alternative. Cheaper is not all bad if the quality and availability of care is there for your child in the first place.
Secondly, you need to consider your travel times and distance of day care relative to your work and other important places like the hospital, grocery store, bank, and places that you frequent on a daily basis. Is it near enough that you can get to your child should he/she become ill or need special attention so that the day care center can contact you and arrange a meeting with you the same day if needed.
Furthermore, you need to consider the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the day care center provider. Do not underestimate a clean environment for your kid to play and learn in with other kids. Your kid will enjoy making new friends in a clean and safe environment. Plus you as a parent will enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your child will not be being home any unwanted germs and diseases into your house. Parents must also consider if there is a dispute over payment and care; how does the management and staff deal with such requests? If there is a lackadaisical approach to your core issues; then that is a bad prelude of things to come concerning your child’s care. Your child will probably feel like he/she is being neglected or not fed on time and will start to complain to you ever so slightly that something is not right. When they do, do not hesitate to take them out of that day care center and find another one immediately.
In a recessionary economy, it is okay and permissible for both parents and kids to demand the best care for their dollar. Make your day care dollar stretch by reading all of the material and brochures and visiting every day center on your list until you find that perfect fit for your child. It’s out there; it is just waiting on you to find it!
Child Care Options for Low Income Families
One of the most frustrating aspects of being a working citizen is not having the ability to afford childcare. The majority of day care facilities charge as much as $300 per week for each child. That amount is difficult for middle-class citizens to pay. Low-income families cannot fathom paying such an expense. Luckily, the government and the various states have developed programs that help low-income families get the childcare they deserve. The following is some information on those programs:
Extended Day Program
The extended day program can assist low-income working parents during the regular school year. Many school districts offer this program. The school keeps children before and after school hours for a small monthly fee. A parent can drop a child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick the child up as late as 6:00 p.m. This program is excellent for low-income workers with daytime weekday jobs. The cost is approximately $150 per month for before and after school. The weekly rate is approximately $37.50, which is extremely competitive.
The attendants participate in various activities with the children before and after school. They help the children with their homework so that the parents have less stress when they come home from work. They give the children a full breakfast in the morning program and a snack in the evening program. Parents can opt to pay for the morning program only, the evening program only, or both programs. The evening program is the more expensive of the two because it lasts so many hours after the school releases the children. The evening program is $100 while the morning program is $52.
The Child Care Assistance Program
CCAP is a special program that provides childcare assistance to certain low-income families. People who are collecting TANF are automatically eligible to receive this assistance. Teenage parents who are working on obtaining their educations are also eligible for CCAP. Those who are not collecting TANF can still qualify if they are pursuing education that will improve their work skills and job opportunities. Parents can apply for CCAP assistance with the Department of Children & Family Services. The financial guidelines for qualification are along the lines of a $3,000 per month income threshold for a four-person family. The applicant must have proof of income, social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records for all children. Application processing can take up to 30 days.
Head Start
Head start is a program for children between the ages of three and five. The program provides childcare services and medical services to the children who qualify. It is funded by the Administration of Children’s Services. The Head Start program covers childcare from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Teachers work with the children to fine-tune their social and developmental skills. Those who are interested in the program may apply online. Applicants go on a waitlist until there is an available slot in the program. It is best for an interested person to complete an application as quickly as possible since the wait may be extended.
Child Care Voucher Program
The Child Care Voucher Program is in effect in many states throughout the United States. It provides a subsidy of up to 95 percent of childcare cost to low-income families. Subsidy recipients will choose an eligible provider from the list of licensed providers. They may also select a relative or an in-home provider. The Child Care Voucher Program covers the childcare from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. This is known as the traditional childcare period. However, the program also covers non-traditional times for parents who work odd shifts. It covers nights, weekends, and evenings.
A wide variety of options is available for low-income childcare. Many stay-at-home moms also run small day care businesses in which they discount their services. There is a way to make working and taking care of your children affordable.

The modern circus has long ceased to be just a performance in the arena with acrobats and trained elephants. The circus now is a mix of high multimedia technologies, original productions and the skill of artists. We present you a selection of the best circuses in Moscow: from street clowning theaters to modern and world-famous show programs.
The Moscow circus on Tsvetnoy is a legendary place, this one of the first stationary circuses in our country was opened back in 1880. It was its first director, Albert Salamonsky, who decided to create circus programs specifically for children.
In its anniversary year, the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard is preparing a number of premieres for children, including an amazing New Year’s show.
Big Moscow Circus on Vernadsky Avenue, 5+
Address: Universitet metro station, Vernadsky Avenue, 7.

Another famous circus in our selection. One of the best circuses in Moscow for children is famous not only for its modern equipment (5 mobile arenas, an auditorium for 3400 people), but also for completely unique programs that, in terms of their creative content, can easily compete with the programs of the circus du Soleil, which has long been a standard circus art.
Circus of Miracles, 2+
Address: m. Kuntsevskaya, st. Ivan Franko, 14.
+7 (495) 357-10-10 wonder-circus.ru
The Circus of Miracles is a relatively young circus, which, in addition to the main address on Kuntsevskaya, has two more branches in the city: on Kashirskoye Highway and Litovsky Boulevard.
The programs of this circus with clowns for children in Moscow are interactive, the viewer becomes part of an amazing story that the artists tell in the arena, and the programs will suit even the smallest spectators.

Jugglers, aerialists, acrobats and clowns give unforgettable memories to every spectator, and the soulful atmosphere of the circus will not leave anyone indifferent.

+7 (499) 391-92-92 www.ugolokdurova.ru
Another circus for children in Moscow, where four-legged artists act as the owners of the arena. The Durov Theater was founded by one of the most famous circus dynasties in our country. The author’s method of training, which is passed down and improved from generation to generation, is based primarily on the study of the nature and abilities of animals. Weasel, understanding of zoopsychology, make the show programs of “Grandfather Durov’s Corner” humane, sincere and, of course, fascinating.
Northern Lights Ice Circus, 5+
Address: metro station Dmitrovskaya, st. Novodmitrovskaya, 36.

If you can’t decide where to go: to the circus or to the ice show, then the Northern Lights ice circus is the best solution to this issue. Circus on ice is a relatively new phenomenon, the first circus programs on ice were presented to the audience in the mid-60s of the last century, and, of course, this was the merit of Soviet circus artists.
The Circus on Ice “Northern Lights” in its programs not only promotes and develops Soviet circus traditions, but also introduces innovations and original visual and multimedia solutions.
Theater of clownery and comedy del arte Grim Massa, 2+
Perhaps, clowning is the most complex and underestimated genre of circus art. FAQs
AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Hershey KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks-1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1-2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2-3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3-4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4-5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Kindergarten Programs (5-6 Years)
Welcome to kindergarten: the gateway to grade school and everything that
comes next! Offered in select centers, our kindergarten programs have small
class sizes and curriculums that mix learning and fun. The basic building
blocks of reading, writing, math, and science are key in kindergarten, so we
make sure they get lots of practice in all of these areas.
Before- and After-School Programs (5-12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
Participating Child Care Aware Center
KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.
Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Cooking Academy™ (3-12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2-4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2-4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)
You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Knife attack on Chinese kindergarten: six dead

Police near a school in Guangdong Province (file photo)
At least six people were killed and one injured in a knife attack on a kindergarten in Lianjiang county in south China’s Guangdong province.
“Among the victims are one caregiver, two parents and three pupils. One suspect has been arrested,” a spokeswoman for the city administration said.
The attack happened at 7:40 am local time on Monday.
Police say they have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of assault and are investigating the cause of the incident.
Authorities classify what happened as a deliberate attack, but his motive has not yet been established.
Subscribe to our email newsletter and every evening from Monday to Friday you will receive the most important news of the day, as well as context to help you understand what is happening.
Mass killing spree
Such incidents are quite rare in China, but in recent years there have been a series of knife attacks in the country.
The BBC has counted at least 17 attacks on Chinese schools, colleges and universities in recent times. Ten of them occurred between 2018 and 2023.
In all cases, the attackers were men, and, as further investigations showed, almost all of them acted consciously, thus expressing public protest.
Ownership of firearms is prohibited in China, so most of the attackers use knives. Although in one case a chemical spray was used, resulting in injuries to 50 people – all students in the same class.
Last August, a knife attacker broke into a kindergarten in southeastern Jiangxi province, killing three people and injuring six others.
In April 2021, two children died and 16 were injured during a stabbing in Beilu City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In October 2018, 14 children were injured in a knife attack on a kindergarten in Chongqing, southwest China.
Possible causes?
Experts believe that one of the reasons for the surge in violence in China may be the Covid-19 pandemic, during which many Chinese cities have experienced some of the longest and most stringent quarantines in the world.
According to experts, the accumulated feelings of anger due to the loss of a job, investment or relationship can push people to crime.
Other possible factors could be high levels of stress due to high expectations placed on young people in Chinese society, high unemployment and a sharply widening gap between rich and poor, experts say.
Since 2010, the Chinese authorities have stepped up security measures around schools.

High Line and Zaryadye: what do the two new parks in Moscow and New York have in common? way urban space is organized in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States.
The most memorable object was the High Line Park, opened in 1993. In my opinion, it has a lot in common with Zaryadye.
High Line is not at all like what we used to mean by the word “park”: there are no densely planted trees, lawns and ponds. The park was created on the site of an elevated railway and is located at a height of about 10 m above the ground. The railway has not been used for its intended purpose since 1980 years old, and the city authorities decided to start its reconstruction in 2006. Construction work continued for 12 years: the alley was constantly expanding, new sections were opened along different streets of New York.
Today, the park is a long alley 2.3 km long, along which various types of unusual plants grow. In addition, the park includes a developed public area: benches, art objects.

Zaryadye was created on the same principle: the park is located in the historical center of Moscow on the site of the Rossiya Hotel. Many plants have also been planted here, designed to show all the natural zones of Russia. Walking through the park, the visitor can see the tundra, taiga, deciduous forest, meadow in miniature. There are many recreation areas on the territory of Zaryadye.
Zaryadye

Both parks are like a magnet for tourists who come to the cities. Walking along the High Line, most often you meet people with cameras and backpacks. They like it here: the path of tourists is laid along one simple route, so they do not risk passing by the most interesting places. Along the way, so-called view points arise: observation platforms with beautiful views. Here people take pictures and share pictures on social networks.
High Line
(Photo: Christian Reister/Globalook)
The Zaryadye tourist attraction center is a “floating bridge” that never seems to be empty – there are always those who want to climb it and take pictures.
High Line and Zaryadye are attractive not only because you can wander among beautiful plants in them. They offer visitors cultural and educational programs. With the help of elevators from the High Line, you quickly move to the Whitney Museum, which regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art and various cultural events. Zaryadye has a permanent underground museum dedicated to the history of Moscow, as well as an information center that organizes temporary exhibitions, lectures, etc.
Zaryadye
(Photo: Sergey Kovalev/Global Look Press)
From the point of view of street retail, the park spaces themselves are not designed for shopping or catering. There are no budget clothing and goods stores, fast food here. Business in Zaryadye is represented by the Voskhod restaurant and a gastronomic center opened by the famous restaurateur Alexander Rappoport. Conceptually, both projects illustrate the gastronomic diversity of the post-Soviet space: in the food market you can eat dishes according to the recipes of the cuisine of the Russian regions, and in the restaurant – from the countries of the former USSR.
High Line
(Photo: Richard B. Levine/Globallook)
In the High Line, eateries, cafes with verandas are located outside the park, under the railway, and you need to go down to get there. Descents are organized with some interval. In the park itself, visitors can have an ice cream bite, and eat a hearty meal at the cafe in the Whitney Museum, enjoying the views from the rooftop veranda.
It’s all about the similarities. There are differences, and one of them is fundamentally important. The railroad tracks remained in the High Line – a certain element of history, reminiscent of the fact that it was located here for a long time. And although the railway is not the property of architecture, it is organically combined with the former transport system. The road and the park complement each other and together convey an important message about the transition to the future without abandoning the past.
Zaryadye
(Photo: Konstantin Kokoshkin/Global Look Press)
In tsarist times, the lower shopping malls were located on the site of Zaryadye, and in Soviet times, the Rossiya Hotel. There is practically nothing left of the past.

“City for memory”. 401. Ryazansky Prospekt and VNIIMETMASH
October 8, 2018 Photo project “City for memory”. 401. Ryazansky Prospekt and VNIIMETMASH
Ryazansky Prospekt is a seven-kilometer radial highway starting from the intersection with the Moscow Circle Railway (MCC Nizhegorodskaya station) and leading towards the Moscow Ring Road. In the XVII-XVIII centuries, peasants settled in the vicinity of the road to Ryazan and the names of ancient villages are reflected in modern toponymy: Karacharovo, Plyushchevo, Vyazovka, Vykhino. The picturesque places were chosen for their country estates by noble citizens – Sheremetevs, Golitsyns, Razumovskys, but industrialization destroyed the dacha idyll, placing brick factory buildings along Ryazanka and populating workers’ settlements with proletarians.
Beautiful remarkable places from tourist guides – Kuzminki, Kuskovo – were left aside, and this story is dedicated to the architecture of the working outskirts and the current redevelopment of industrial zones. On maps of different years, the highway was called Bronnitskoye Highway, Nizhny Novgorod Highway, Ryazanskoye Highway, Karacharovo Street.

Patriarchal villages in the Soviet years were again swept away by a hurricane – the invasion of industrialization.
The development of industry was facilitated by the opening of the MOZhD – the industrial railway ring, which is familiar to our contemporaries as the Moscow Central Ring (MCC). The lobby of the Nizhegorodskaya station is unpretentiously decorated, but today (until the metro is built here) it is an important and popular station.
A view of large-scale construction from the platform platforms and car overpasses.
The Karacharovo railway platform is moved closer to the MCC and will become part of the transport hub – railway, MCC, metro, land transport

The Karacharov Mechanical Plant specializes in the manufacture of elevators, tower cranes, telescopic towers, and hoists for various purposes. In 1948, it was decided to create workshops in the village of Karacharovo near Moscow, supplying metal structures for the high-rise building of Moscow State University under construction, for which a vast area was allocated on the outskirts of the village. The first elevators of Moscow University and the spire with a star on the Main Building of Moscow State University were created in these workshops, in 1950, which received the name “Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant”.

at the plant, were used in the construction and decoration of such unique buildings as the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, the Ostankino television center, the circus on Vernadsky Avenue, the Pushkinsky, Oktyabr, Mir cinemas, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the memorial on Poklonnaya Hill.
In 1957, the plant began serial production of elevators, which became the main product in the factory assortment. In the nomenclature of the enterprise there are more than 70 models of elevators of various carrying capacity (from 100 to 5000 kg), speed and modification. At the same time, not only a wide range of elevator models is offered, but also a full range of services related to the service – from the design and manufacture of equipment to its installation and maintenance.
Nowadays, the production area of KMZ has significantly decreased and housing construction is being carried out on the vacated areas.
City of Ryazansky Prospekt shopping complex (2006) is located in the reconstructed industrial building of KMZ, built in 1965

Behind the flyover on the even side of Ryazan on the avenue, the industrial zone continues. In 1929, a factory was opened here that manufactured fittings – connecting parts for pipelines. During the Great Patriotic War, instead of peaceful products, its workshops mastered the production of cases for Katyusha rockets, mortar mines and hand grenades. From 19For 43 years, T-34 tanks were repaired here, and since 1944, aircraft bomb cases were produced.
In peacetime, production still worked for the defense and security of the state already under the name State Union Plant No. 48, its employees carried out government tasks for the atomic project. A wide range of products was in demand in the aircraft industry, metallurgy, energy, radio and microelectronic industries. The enterprise received a new name Machine-building plant “Molniya”.
In the Soviet years, working at Molniya was prestigious – the plant was one of the best in Moscow in terms of salary and social security, residential buildings were built for its employees, the House of Culture named after the 40th anniversary of October, the Kometa stadium, kindergartens, sanatoriums near Moscow . But there were also disadvantages of the secret enterprise – access control, harmful production. According to rumors, the radioactive component of the production occupied a small underground workshop “Korablik”, which had already been removed from the territory. Part of the Molniya buildings has been demolished and, together with the neighboring site of the Mossol table salt packing enterprise, is being built up with residential buildings.
In 1934, on the site between the village of Karacharovo and the village of Vyazovka, the buildings of the workshops of the Karacharovsky Metal Plant were erected, since 1945 the Perovsky Machine-Building Plant, focused on meeting the needs of public utilities. It produced heaters, water-heating boilers, water columns, pipe-cutting machines and other equipment. After the war, the main products of the plant were hoisting and transport equipment (gearboxes, winches, cable cars, metro escalators).
In 1959, on its basis, an experimental plant VNIIMETMASH (All-Russian Research and Design Institute of Metallurgical Engineering named after academician A.I. Tselikov) was organized on its basis – an enterprise engaged in the development and creation of metallurgical equipment. The institute’s products have found application in many industries, including defense, aviation, rocket and space, energy, oil and gas, and automotive. The developments of VNIIMETMASH specialists are in demand in many countries of the world, including those with a highly developed economy, such as Japan. 9Alexander Tselikov (1904—
1984) is a Soviet metallurgical scientist, designer of rolling mills and other units. His rolling mills are still operating in almost every hot shop of Russian metallurgical enterprises.
The plant is famous for the heroic deeds of its workers. Fighter pilot Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Khlobystov, who worked from 1937 to 1940 at the plant as an electrician, during the Great Patriotic War he made three rams of enemy aircraft, two of them in one battle and one on a burning plane. On his account, four personally shot down fascist aircraft and 16 in the group. One of the Moscow streets is named after Khlobystov.
Production of something starts with development in the design office. Design engineers are engaged in the design of parts, assembly units, assemblies and the entire unit. First, a draft design appears, then a technical working design, and at the output – technical documentation, which is transferred to the plant for subsequent manufacture, assembly, and adjustment of the product. The documentation gets to the technologists who make up a route map, which sequentially lists all the operations of manufacturing a part – turning, milling, grinding. The project is always supported – engineers go to the workshops, observe the process, and, if necessary, make changes.
Planing, milling, grinding machines for processing large parts and other metalworking machines are installed in the workshops. Slingers move products to workplaces with the help of cranes, which are bridge, portal, gantry, cantilever. The most maneuverable and widely applicable crane beams.

Pa. prosecutors said Rana Cooper forced her adopted daughter, 16, to earn points to eat, drink and use the bathroom. Cooper also tried to sew the girl’s mouth shut with a needle and thread and made her eat kitty litter, police said.
(WPXI-TV Pittsburgh)
Welcome to the Daily Buzz, a quick and pithy run down of the stories people are talking about right now.
Pa. mom charged with sewing shut adopted daughter’s mouth speaks: ‘I’m a good mother’
The court hearing in Washington County, Pa., turned into a litany of alleged abuse as an accused woman’s adopted, 16-year-old daughter took the stand and chronicled all the ways she had been hurt over the past seven years.
Pa. prosecutors said Rana Cooper forced her adopted daughter, 16, to earn points to eat, drink and use the bathroom. Cooper also tried to sew the girl’s mouth shut with a needle and thread and made her eat kitty litter, police said.
According to WPXI-TV, the girl made a series of devastating claims against the parent, Rana Cooper, including that Cooper made the girl eat cat litter and at one point used needle and thread in an attempt to sew shut the girl’s mouth.
Here are highlights of the court proceeding, which saw Rana Cooper receive bail of $100,000 and have charges filed against her husband, as well, for not stepping in and stopping the abuse, as WPXI reported:
Prosecutors said Rana Cooper forced the girl had to earn points to eat, drink and use the bathroom.
Cooper also tried to sew the girl’s mouth shut with a needle and thread and made her eat kitty litter, police said.
“She scooped cat litter with a scooper and shoved it in my mouth while holding my throat,” the girl said.
“Any time mom was yelling or choking me or punishing me, the dog would bite me and latch ahold of my arm and tear into my skin. I have scars and a big hole in my leg because of it,” the girl said.
“My dad said he was going to leave because she wouldn’t stop yelling and hurting me. My mom was mad and bit my nose, twisting my neck and dragged me across the room,” she added.
But after the hearing when Channel 11’s Cara Sapida asked Cooper if she made her adopted daughter eat cat litter, Cooper replied:
“No. I am a good mother, very good mother.”
‘This is just evilness,’ DA says of Pa. boy’s horrible torture death at age 3
The brutal, horrific nature of the alleged crime is still shocking Chester County, along with the rest of Pennsylvania. Three-year-old Scott McMillan died Tuesday after weeks of alleged escalating abuse that ended in three days of systematic torture – all at the hands of his mother and her boyfriend.
Gary Lee Fellenbaum, 23, and Jillian Tait, 31, were charged Thursday with murder in the torture death of 3-year-old Scott McMillan, who was Tait’s son.
“This is just evilness,” said Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan is quoted by the Associated Press as saying. “It is an unspeakable act of depravity.”
Indeed, Hogan called the case “an American horror story.”
How horrible? Listen to the chilling details of the police affidavits against Gary Lee Fellenbaum, 23, and Jillian Tait, 31. Both were charged Thursday with murder of Scott, who was Tait’s son.
“During one incident,” the affidavits say, “Gary hung Scott and (his older brother) up by their feet one at a time and beat the boys while they were hanging upside down. Jillian stated that she and Gary were laughing during the incident. “
Gary Lee Fellenbaum, left, and Jillian Tait, were charged Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, with murder in the death of Tait’s 3-year-old son, Scott McMillan.
Authorities also said that Scott McMillan had been whipped with a metal rod, punched and hit with blunt and sharp objects, and taped to a chair and beaten, police said in affidavits. The boy’s dead body was covered in bruises, lacerations and puncture wounds, AP reported.
Background according to AP: Fellenbaum’s 21-year-old estranged wife, Amber Fellenbaum, was charged with child endangerment for allegedly failing to help the boy.
She ultimately called 911 Tuesday night, authorities said. By then, Scott had been unresponsive for hours and had been put in a shower for more than 30 minutes by his mother and her boyfriend, investigators said.
Meanwhile, Tait and Fellenbaum went car shopping, bought pizza and engaged in sexual activity as the boy lay dying on an uninflated air mattress.
The couple met working at Wal-Mart and last month moved in together, along with Fellenbaum’s estranged wife. They lived with three children — Tait’s 6- and 3-year-old sons and the Fellenbaums’ 11-month-old daughter — in a mobile home park near Coatesville, about 35 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
McDonald’s breakfast menu cut-off leads to chair-throwing, broom-swinging brawl in Pa.
Don’t mess with breakfast. Perhaps, that is the message from this chair-throwing, broom-swinging, food-splattered brawl at a McDonald’s in Philadelphia.
A group of women lashed out at a Philly McDonald’s after being told the breakfast menu had expired as the clock ticked down toward lunchtime.
MyFoxPhilly.com reports that a group of women started “smashing up” the restaurant after McDonald’s famous breakfast menu expired as the clock ticked down toward lunchtime.
This just didn’t go over too well.
To witness the full calamity of this clash over Egg McMuffins, check out the video of the incident here.
As Fox Philly writes, “It’s incredible what folks will do if they don’t get their McGriddles. “
There were no immediate reports of any arrests in the incident.

How to talk to children correctly – advice from psychologists from Arkhangelsk – October 27, 2020 I think it will be more correct,” Irina Gonchar tells us.
– Of all situations, there is a feeling that an adult is experiencing some feelings, something is happening to him, but he cannot express it in any way, except to manipulate the child and blame him. It is important for a parent first of all to say “stop” to themselves and ask themselves the question: “Do I want my child to grow up to be a squishy, whiner, or an egoist like his father? What then do I want? Well, let’s say I want my child to be kind, tidy … “And then you need to understand what to do for this. Look for other activities.
According to the psychologist, the parents in the examples themselves experience strong emotions:
— There is a lot of talk about emotional intelligence these days. In these cases, the adult does not understand what is happening to him and cannot control it. He is overwhelmed with fear, anger, disappointment, and he does not track this emotion. He begins to manage the state of the child, but you need to say about your condition: “I am upset that you fell”, “I am unpleasant that you do not let me express my opinion. ” Sometimes it is necessary to express your emotions: “I am angry”, “I am upset”, “I am sad”, “I am upset by the mess in your room”, sometimes this is enough. An adult also has emotions, and if he is ready to confess his feelings, then he appears in the present, and it is already possible to communicate with the present, and then the child looks at him with completely different eyes, and here some kind of transformation is already taking place: the child begins hear that mom might be upset.
— When a child in adolescence argues with his parents, this is normal. If a teenager defends his point of view – this is very good. I recommend that parents rejoice at this, it can be unusual and uncomfortable, of course, but this just means that the child has his own “I”, his own opinion, his view of the world. If you suppress your opinion in a teenager and a child, then it is foolish to hope that the child will show it in society when he grows up. If we want our child to always be obedient with us and not learn to be himself, then what hopes that he himself will finish school and choose an institute himself, he will be successful at work when it will already be necessary to show his opinion.
As Irina Gonchar says, we live to the extent of our convictions, and it is important to convey this idea to parents, because children’s convictions are often the theses of parents:
— Suggestions later become human convictions. How does this happen? Let’s say an adult called a child a pig when he didn’t clean the room, the child sees a mess and he immediately has this link-image: “I didn’t clean, so I live in the garbage, so I’m some kind of bum, a pig” . And now this already affects a person’s life, his ability to transform and change something in his life. If a person is convinced that he is a genius, he will live like a genius. There is even such an experiment: psychologists carried out back in the USSR. They recruited two identical classes of kids, completely ordinary. One class was told that they were brilliant and that there were high hopes for them. The teachers were also told that they had brilliant children, judging by the tests. The other class simply didn’t say anything. And who do you think had more results? At the class where they said that the kids are brilliant.
Some people say that thoughts are material, but, without mysticism and fantasy, everything we say to each other really determines our future.
How do you manage to restrain yourself? And is it difficult to confess feelings to parents and children? What was your childhood like? We are interested in your opinion, be sure to write in the comments how, in your opinion, you need to communicate with the child.
“Daughters are like an extra mouth in the family”: an expert on the reasons for the increase in the number of early marriages in Azerbaijan – Panorama
Azerbaijan is familiar with the problem of early marriages firsthand, but despite all efforts, this problem is still relevant in the country. The Azerbaijani website Ekho.az writes about this.
Commenting on the situation, Kamalya Ashumova, executive director of the Reliable Future organization, said that they often receive information about cases of marriage of girls against their will.
“Sometimes we get calls from neighbors of people who are going to force their daughter to marry. Several times we prevented such weddings, and then government agencies took care of the matter,” she said.
So, she said that once the neighbors of a girl who they wanted to marry at the age of 14 called them on the “hot line”. The wedding was stopped, the girl was in rehabilitation for 4 months, and her father signed a statement that his daughter would not marry until she was 18. In addition, she spoke about a 15-year-old girl who, with mental disorders, came to one of the clinics in the Sabunchi village with her fiancé. According to her, during the conversation with the groom, it turned out that he had no idea that marriage to a minor was a crime.
“Unfortunately, indeed, the number of early marriages in Azerbaijan has increased recently,” the expert said, and at the same time added that, as a rule, girls are married early in low-income, socially unprotected families, in order to reduce financial burden.
According to her, when parents have nothing to feed their children, they tend to quickly arrange their lives. “In the foreground is the material aspect, the inability to support a family and the desire to get rid of the “extra mouth”. But parents thereby violate the rights of the child. Nobody asks a girl if she wants to get married,” Ashumova stressed.
The expert noted that according to the law, such marriages cannot be registered, and people get by with religious marriages, which are not legally valid. According to her, both from the point of view of the law and from the point of view of medicine, such marriages are evil.
Moreover, often girls do not have the necessary documents, and, accordingly, their children do not either. In the future, they face a lot of problems because of this, in particular, the inability to place their children in school. “And the girls themselves, who entered into an early marriage, sometimes study up to a maximum of the ninth grade. I know a family in which the girls did not go to school for a single year. Their father is sure that they do not need it, referring to religion,” Ashumova continued.
So, she noted that if a child does not attend school for a month, and there is no information from parents for what reason he does not attend it, then the teacher or school director must inform the children’s ombudsman about this. But this is often not done on time. “I also note that information about children whose parents took their documents from school is simply lost. If a child does not attend school, his right to education is violated. But some parents believe that the girl’s destiny is to be the keeper of the hearth and obey her husband in everything, ”she said.
Speaking about the regions of the country in which girls most often marry as minors, the expert said that at risk are Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gusar, Khachmaz, Guba, Lerik, Massalli, Lankaran. According to her, the situation is difficult in the settlements of Baku and Absheron, since a considerable number of people who have come from other regions and do not have the necessary documents live there.
In addition, Ashumova stressed that there are cases when girls wanted to commit suicide precisely because of forced marriage. She recalled that the average age of girls entering into early marriage is 14-15 years.
It should be noted that earlier human rights activist Sadagat Pashayeva said that in Azerbaijan, early marriages and abortions of underage girls often lead to the death of young mothers and their children. In addition, it was noted that last year 27,452 women in the country had an abortion, of which 50 were 15-17-year-old girls of school age. However, Shahla Ismailova, chairman of the Women’s Society for Rational Development, commenting on this information, she stated that the real numbers of abortions among 15-17-year-old girls are quite possibly higher than indicated.
Recall that in February 2015, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women discussed the fifth periodic report of Azerbaijan on the implementation of the measures of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
How To Answer A Child’s Why Question? (Facts & Solutions)
Children are curious about everything. As a result, they ask a lot of questions. One of the most asked questions by children is the “why” questions. As a parent or guardian, you might wonder how you can answer these types of questions. In this article, I will suggest some ways you can respond to your child’s why questions.
How to answer a child’s why question? Sometimes it’s easier to say “no” or answer mindlessly. But as parents or guardians, you should respond in an elaborate yet easy to understand way. It is also helpful to turn it into a discussion or conversation. When all else fails, there’s nothing wrong with admitting that you don’t know the answer. Finding answers together will be a memorable experience for the child.
Children ask tons of questions and sometimes it can be baffling. But, it is important to understand the reasons why they ask questions. It is also helpful to have an idea of how to answer them. Below are more details about a child’s “whys” and how to deal with it.
Why do children ask “why?”
When children reach a certain age, they start to be more curious and ask questions. According to a 2017 Independent UK article, children ask about 73 questions per day. This can be challenging – especially for first-time parents. Yet, the “why stage” of a child is a crucial part of their cognitive development.
Children’s ability to ask questions shows the range of their cognitive capabilities. They ask “why” to seek facts or explanations. They are inquisitive by nature and interested in their environment. It is typical for them to ask how or why things work or happen.
Most common types of a child’s “why?”
Before learning how to respond to a child’s why question, it is helpful to know the classifications. Scholars at the University of Belgrade identified three types of most asked questions. Those are the cognitive, social, and operational queries.
The cognitive why
Also known as the “curious why”, these are questions children ask to gain new information. These questions allow the child to have a better understanding of things or people around him or her. The primary purpose is to improve their knowledge.
The social why
The goal of these questions is to meet the child’s interpersonal needs. Although the queries also aim to get information, it aims to start a conversation. Some questions might be self-explanatory, but the child will ask it to socialize. In other words, children ask to seek attention.
The operational
These are questions that focus on seeking help or permission. Children ask them to have support for their operational needs. .
Bonus: The mischievous why
Usually, this type of “why” is used when the child is having a temper tantrum. Children practice it to express feelings of anger or irritation. It is also a sign of disobedience and protests during arguments.
Ways to respond
Sit and spend time to answer the question
Children ask so many questions and some of them are tough to answer. Still, parents or guardians should listen and engage. Allot time to listen and filter their questions. After that, you should try explaining in a way that the child can understand. Put an effort into answering questions that focus on the child’s learning. Communicating also improves the relationship between a parent or guardian and child. .
Avoid saying “no” or “because I said so”
Discipline is different from being dismissive. Replying “no” or “because I said so” can cause the child to feel discouraged and confused. This hinders their curiosity and decreases their motivation to learn. Instead, empathize and give them reassurance. Most importantly, encourage them to ask questions.
Ask the child to answer the question/s
Sometimes try hearing about their thoughts or opinions. Ask the child what he or she thinks is the answer to the question. This encourages them to think and be confident
Admit it when you don’t know the answer
Of course, there are questions that even an adult can’t answer. It’s okay to mention that you don’t know the answer. It teaches them that being honest about not knowing is acceptable.
Find answers together
After admitting that you don’t know the solution to your child’s question, join them in finding the answer. Turn it into an activity between you as a parent or guardian and the child. Help them realize there are many other ways to find answers.
Talk about related topics or subjects
One way to respond when you don’t have an answer is to ask or tell them about something that is related to the question. This may spark their interest in various topics.
Manage your emotions
Being bombarded with many questions can be exhausting. But instead of scolding your child, be patient. Calmly talk to them and explain why you can’t answer their questions. Whether it’s because you are busy or preoccupied, your child deserves an explanation.
How to encourage a child to ask substantial questions
Some questions have straightforward answers. What, when, and who questions from a child are easy to resolve. From a child’s perspective, these queries might also be easier to understand.
Questions such as why and how are different. This can be more complex and will need the child to have a broader understanding. These types of questions are more meaningful since it develops their cognitive skills.
Listed below are tips to encourage a child to ask meaningful questions.
Ask them questions
A young child will ask queries centered on who, what, where, and when. The level or type of questions improves as they grow and develop. You can influence them by asking them why (and how) questions. This can also exercise their critical thinking abilities.
Use their favorite books or learning materials
A way to make them ask better questions are through their favorite books, shows, or toys. Ask them questions that are connected to the story or objects that they like. Some example questions include:
Why did that happen?
How does it work?
Why did the characters (from the book or show) say that?
Why is the character sad or happy?
Tell them the importance of asking questions
The best way to encourage a child is by talking to them. Tell them the beneficial effects of asking questions. Praise or recognize their effort for asking good queries. This can help increase their confidence. It also inspires them to learn more about many things.
How to approach toughest why questions
Children have many questions – some are more challenging to answer. Sometimes these tricky questions are hard to explain. It can also be a philosophical issue that focuses on existential or complex subjects.
Examples:
Why is my body different from my sister/brother or other kids?
Why do we die?
Why do some people have smaller or no homes?
Why are (the adults) fighting each other?
Why is my skin color different from my friend?
Aside from the tips mentioned above, there are ways to address puzzling questions.
Research
Usually, research is not required when responding to a child’s why question. It can be answered based on background knowledge or experience. But for harder queries, it does not hurt to do a little research. Seek books or learning materials that are child-friendly. These can provide an idea on how to answer. Give an age-appropriate answer to your child. Talk about it in a way that he or she can absorb what you are saying.
Provide comfort and reassurance
Again, find out why the child is asking a certain question. Is it to gain information? To engage in conversation? Some sensitive questions may have an effect on a child’s well being. It is important to console and reassure the child before addressing the issues.
Conclusion
Children have many various reasons why they ask “why?”. The main reason is because of their curiosity and eagerness to learn. They also ask questions to bond with other people. There are also many ways the parents or guardians can respond. The most important is to understand our children and encourage their development. Listening and communicating with them is the best approach you can do as a parent or guardian.
Related Questions
Does asking a child questions have the same effect on their learning and development? When parents start asking questions, children can sharpen their critical thinking. This allows them to express their feelings, opinions, and understanding of the subject. This can also guide them to plan and enquire questions. Giving the children time and opportunity to ask their queries.
Is there a connection between the responses and the amount of questions children ask? Children ask questions to people that they trust and/or love. They know these people might give them the information that they need. When deciding whether to ask more questions, children depend on the responses they get. If parents keep on dismissing the questions, children might feel discouraged. This might cause the child to control themselves from asking queries.
