FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are you a licensed childcare provider?
Yes
How is this different than a Club?
Our Club programming is generally offsite at one of our Club locations and only offered after school hours or at other specified times. Childcare is a new service offered before and after school and located at each participating school building. Generally, the Clubs can also offer more financial assistance for those who qualify. Because our Before & After School Childcare services are licensed, we are able to accept childcare subsidies such as Working Child Care Connections (WCCC).
3. Can I do both a Club and Before & After School Childcare? How do I choose?
Most people choose based on the age of their child, their financial situation and other factors unique to your student. We’re happy to talk through options with you.
4. What are the hours of your Childcare?
Our programming usually starts at 7:15 a.m. until the start of school, then after school until 6:00 p.m. Hours vary for partial school days and are communicated in advance. Check with your school to confirm specific hours as it varies between schools.
5. What is provided in your childcare services?
Social-emotional learning
Academic support
STEAM activities
BGCA nationally-created curriculum
Enrichment, academics time, and athletic time
Customized support for each child
6. How much does it cost?
FEES:
Before school childcare – $300/month
After school childcare – $325/month
Before AND after school childcare – $550/month
Financial aid is available.
7. Do you provide food/snacks?
We provide snacks for every child.
8. What is the ratio of adults to children at your care facility?

Washington Child Care Investment Needed to Prevent Child Care Crises
TACOMA, WA – May 27, 2020 – Thousands of licensed Washington childcare facilities report they are at risk of permanent closure due to the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The loss of these high-quality programs would greatly exacerbate a decade-long crisis in childcare in our state, where demand exceeded supply, waiting lists for childcare lasted months and even years, and childcare professionals were appallingly underpaid.
While recent child care grants made possible by federal COVID-19 stimulus funding may help some programs stay afloat during these challenging times, it is becoming increasingly clear that not all child care programs will survive. According to our recent survey of licensed childcare organizations, 41 percent of those surveyed believe they are in danger of permanent closure, largely due to the financial impact of the crisis. Our survey showed that only two percent of the licensed providers who answered our question received federal loans to cope with the consequences of the economic crisis, and only eight percent were able to successfully apply for and win loans under the federal paycheck protection program.
“Washington childcare services have been financially hanging by a thread of proverbial chatter for decades. ” The loss of much of their income from leaving so many children at home, combined with the increased costs of running small childcare businesses during the pandemic, have forced hundreds of children to close their doors temporarily. Those who have stayed open are struggling to work on lower incomes and without personal protective equipment and health insurance,” said Deann Burtch Puffert, CEO of Enterprise Child Care Aware of Washington. “Our The state must recognize the critical role that childcare plays in restarting and sustaining our economy because most parents of young children work. An investment in the childcare industry is an investment in every other industry, because investing in childcare keeps parents working and employers working.”
The Washington Child Care Crisis cost employers in our state $2.08 billion in direct costs in 2017 and $6.5 billion in direct and opportunity costs, according to a 2019 report, Assembly Child Care Expenses from the Washington State Department of Commerce and other organizations that are part of the State Joint Working Group on Child Care. The report also notes that 36 percent of parents in Washington State have left work or school due to lack of access to quality child care.
Child Care Aware The WA Survey of Licensed Child Care Providers found that only 49 providers that responded to the questionnaire applied for and received federal loans under the Economic Injury Protection Program, and only 202 providers that responded to the questionnaire applied for and received federal loans under the Payroll Accident Protection Program. Over 2,500 of the 5,400 licensed providers in Washington responded to our survey. Many programs are currently applying for new grants funded under the federal CARES Act. Our statewide Early Learning Coaches help providers apply.
Child Care Aware of Washington is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to connecting families to local, high quality, licensed child care and early education programs and providing support to high quality care providers. Lack of affordable childcare a huge issue in Chester County and the nation – Daily Local
More than two years since the COVID-19 pandemic triggered the most catastrophic workforce decline in history, men have returned to work at a higher rate than women. In April 2022, the U.S. Chamber published data citing one million women missing from the labor force compared to pre-pandemic numbers.
What can we attribute to the lack of women returning to the workforce? A number of factors: layoffs in the market, positions being consolidated or eliminated, and for many working moms — lack of childcare.
When I first became pregnant, I paid little mind to friends and other mothers telling me I should begin my daycare search. I laughed then, thinking how crazy it would be to look for daycare a year in advance of when my child would need it. It turned out that was well-placed advice.
When I originally toured daycares in May 2022, I never could have imagined that I would be on a waitlist until January 2023. My son was born on Aug. 12 and when I returned to work on Oct. 31 from my maternity leave, with no daycare option, I was forced to bring him along with me to the office. Imagine replying to emails and joining conference calls with a baby in your lap.
According to the U.S. Chamber, “in the last two years, 16,000 childcare centers were forced to close their doors and many more were operating at limited capacity. This diminished the accessibility and affordability of childcare across the nation. In many cases, parents — most often women — stayed home to care for their children. Half of all workers and nearly 60 percent of parents cite lack of childcare as their reason for leaving workforce.” Lack of access has resulted in millions of working families across the U.S. having to make the difficult decision between ensuring quality care for their children or pursuing a career.
The lack of access to childcare doesn’t just disrupt the family unit — it also affects the economy. Without a healthy childcare system, tax revenue declines, workers leave jobs, and economic production suffers. The U.S. Chamber’s data further shows that not only does lack of childcare affect the productivity of employees, but it also affects their bottom line. Employee turnover costs companies on average 33% of a worker’s total compensation to replace them while impacting the recruitment of skilled employees. Recruiting and retaining qualified employees continues to plague employers in 2022, with 10.7 million job openings in September – 5.6 million more than unemployed workers, according to recent job reports.
So what is the solution? The FY2022/23 state budget for Pennsylvania included a new Child Care and Dependent Care Tax Credit which is a $25 million program to benefit working families with children in daycare who already qualify for the similar federal program. The state childcare tax credit encompasses 30% of the federally approved expense. Pennsylvanians paying for childcare services will be able to claim the credit when filing state taxes starting in 2023. Families could be eligible for either $180 (one child) or $360 (two or more children) for households earning above $43,000, or $315 (one child) or $630 (two or more children) for households earning less than $43,000.
The budget also allocated $90 million in federal American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funding to provide one-time childcare staff recruitment and retention bonuses which will hopefully increase access.
I commend the PA Legislature and Governor Wolf for adopting the program and urge them to include it in future budgets. We mothers would also ask decision-makers to look at other innovative programs, such as public-private partnerships that provide quality childcare to employees. This economic challenge facing families merits the attention of both employers and policymakers.
What does a public-private partnership for childcare look like? In their 2022 legislative session, the Kentucky General Assembly began addressing the issue by passing legislation that created a new pilot program, the Employee Child Care Assistance Partnership, where the state matches an employer’s contribution (up to 100%) for employers who subsidize the cost of childcare services for an employee (Source: Kentucky Chamber of Commerce). For example, if an employer wants to assist employees with the cost of childcare services by contributing $100 a month, and the state’s conditions and guidelines have been met, the state will contribute an additional $100 to match the employer’s monthly contribution. Offsetting the cost for employees positively impacts company culture, increases industry leadership and influence, and addresses a critical issue across the nation.
Many small and medium-sized businesses, however, are unable to contribute these funds toward daycare, as they are already facing inflation, supply chain issues, and other financial burdens in the current economy, but for those medium and larger capacity companies, consideration should be given to such a program. Our legislature should work with employers across the Commonwealth to assess the need and value in funding this type of program.
Another option, where possible, is for employers to consider implementing on-site childcare facilities or to partner with a local provider and/or fellow businesses to offer care for their employees. Onsite care or local partnerships build goodwill, not just within your company, but within the community. This type of investment in childcare will ensure positive outcomes for a business — recruitment and retention of employees, increased performance, and the creation of a positive company culture, which may inspire other companies to do the same.
Other options include reaching out to our school districts, youth development groups and community organizations, and economic engines such as the local chambers, to establish other pipelines to expand care. Employers should regularly survey employees and report their findings to local representatives and officials.
If the pandemic showed us anything, it is that the benefits of addressing the work-life needs of employees greatly outweigh any drawbacks. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach, the future economic viability of our communities depends on addressing the childcare shortage. The issues need to be tackled head-on by public and private entities alike, with a combination of policy solutions. In the meantime, I’m still on that waitlist, 9 months later, so I’ll continue to bring my son to work with me. He’s the real boss anyways.

Child nursing specializes in caring for children, young people and their families in a variety of settings through an interprofessional approach to care. The job of a pediatric nurse can range from caring for a sick newborn baby to caring for an adolescent with complex physical or psychological needs. The course will give you the opportunity to become a flexible practitioner; clinically savvy, caring and ready to take on the responsibility of caring for children, young people and their families.
Your second specialization will be one of the following: adult nursing; nursing for persons with disabilities; nursing for people with mental disorders. The hotel was perfect. What was outstanding was the girl at the reception. When I checked in, she kindly offered me to park my bike in front of the front desk so it wouldn’t be touched. She did it without my asking. It’s unusual. The breakfast was good too. I will definitely stay here again.
No cons. Everything was acceptable and in many cases exceeded expectations.

Welcome to Our School
Welcome to Everbrook Academy in Gainesville, VA! My name is Sarah and I am the principal. I attended Old Dominion University and have a background in psychology. In addition, I have completed extensive training in eight content areas of early childhood development and management. I have been working in the field for 11 years and in management for eight of those.
We offer Infant and Toddler care, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Before- and After-school clubs for School-Age students. Through 21st century learning, we not only focus on a child’s transition into the public-school system using the School Readiness Pathway, but also on developing strong social/emotional skills to be successful in the real world.
One of our school’s unique components is The Brook – our all-ages community activity room. There, we have an interactive virtual playground, cozy reading nooks and STEAM zones for robotics, coding, and more. Step outside and discover some outdoor fun with our playground, age-appropriate playscapes and STEAM-inspired play systems!
Building close relationships with our Everbrook families is also a key factor in your child’s development. My experienced and passionate staff members work together as partners to help your child be successful in our program and beyond.

Top 10 Reasons South Bend Should Open for All Women’s Health
[wpvideo RfDnt4s0]
1. There are only 6 abortion clinics in the entire state of Indiana.
This means that some women have to drive for more than three hours to get abortion care. Distance creates an additional barrier for women who need care, especially when other possible factors such as the cost of gas, travel arrangements, childcare planning, or work interruption are taken into account.
2. Political intervention should not prevent a woman’s access to safe abortion care.
Politicians like Mike Pence continue to push restrictive legislation that prevents women from accessing the abortion care they need. Indiana is classified as “highly hostile” to abortion rights, as new laws have been passed in recent years that burden women seeking abortion and force clinics to close. In 2014 about 95 percent of Indiana’s counties did not have abortion clinics, and 66 percent of Indiana women lived in those counties. There are now only six clinics in Indiana open to serve women, up from 10 in 2011.
3. When women are denied the opportunity to choose what happens to their bodies, they lose their freedom.
Denying women the right to have an abortion is a slippery slope to denying other care, including birth control, emergency contraception, and even proper prenatal care. When women can choose what happens to their bodies and when, they can also choose what is best for their future, their families, and themselves.
4. South Bend deserves the very best in healthcare, including a full range of women’s reproductive health options.
“Whole Woman’s Health will provide access to services critical to women’s physical, mental and emotional well-being, thereby filling a critical reproductive health gap in the South Bend community. When we deny a woman the ability to choose what happens to her body, we deny her the freedom to make decisions that are best for her and her family. We must guarantee the rights of our community members to have a child, not to have a child, and to raise children in a safe and healthy environment. If we only focus on the former, we will perpetuate reproductive injustice at the expense of women, children and families in our community.”
– Carmella Vizza, Leader of the Undivided District of Indiana 2
5. Alliance Health and Whole Woman’s Health Alliance provides abortion services with dignity, respect and compassion.
We are a group of women’s clinics providing comprehensive gynecological services, including abortions. We are committed to destigmatizing abortion and creating safe spaces for all people, whether in our clinics or in the communities where they live.
6. Every woman should be at the center of her health decisions.
We trust women to make decisions for themselves and their families. We are here to support them during a difficult time in their lives. Our philosophy is that every woman should be at the center of her own healthcare decisions and we pride ourselves on being a women-owned, women-centric, progressive business.
7. Individualized treatment for each patient will better serve women and improve their health and happiness in communities where quality care is available.
Our philosophy is that treating every woman holistically – respecting her head, heart and body – will better serve women and improve their health and happiness in our wider communities. We reach out to communities where we are most needed and strive to raise standards of care by offering compassionate and quality care, while also working to remove barriers to reproductive care.
8. When women control their health, society wins.
It has been proven over the years that when women have access to birth control, the economy and the labor market thrive. The results are similar when women have access to abortion care – they can plan for their future, which determines their participation in society. When women have a choice when they want to become parents or whether they want to, they can also make choices regarding higher education, careers, travel, etc.
9. Alliance Health Alliance is dedicated to eradicating the shame and stigma associated with abortion care.
We remain a strong advocate and pillar of society wherever we have clinics, becoming the voice of women’s reproductive justice in many communities where the state is attacking women’s health care, destroying it and creating an environment that forces women to potentially take desperate measures. . We are proud to have eliminated the stigma around abortion and ensured that all women have safe and affordable access to abortion care.
10. Good women have abortions.
The people we serve come from all walks of life, from young college students to teenagers and professional women who stay at home with their mothers; from religious and spiritual people to women trying to figure out what they believe; from women with insurance to women without a health protection system and in need of financial support. The fact is that not only one woman has an abortion. Abortion is a normal part of a woman’s reproductive life, and nearly 40% of American women will have an abortion by age 45. We understand that no one gets pregnant to have an abortion. We also understand that facing an unplanned pregnancy and choosing an abortion is related to all the important things in a woman’s life – checking identity, life, death, gender, religion, family; your dreams and your aspirations.

If school is closed for inclement weather, will I receive a refund of fees I’ve already paid?
No. We are sorry but we will not be able to issue refunds for school closures due to inclement weather.
What type of curriculum and learning experience do you provide for my child?
Our classrooms are designed with the child in mind with multiple opportunities for active participation. We use the Christian-based “WEE Learn” and Pinnacle curriculums that employ developmentally appropriate activities to encourage the children’s curiosity and desire to learn with an emphasis on instilling Christian values. Our curriculum provides systematic learning in language and early literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, physical development, and personal and social growth. We also offer music classes for children 2-5 years old and chapel services for 4 and 5-year-olds.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
All children entering a 3 year old classroom must be fully potty-trained.

How to care for a newborn baby: a girl and a boy
When a baby is born, the mother has a question: “How to care for a newborn?” You need to understand that caring for a baby is important not only from the point of view of physical, but also psychological safety. With its help, contact is established between an adult and a baby.
Although the exact period is controversial among paediatricians, we can consider babies between 10 and 30 days of age as infants. The neonatal period varies widely depending on the time of pregnancy and the timing of delivery:
At term: after pregnancy from 38 to 40 weeks. The average weight of children is 3.25 kg, height is 50 cm.
Preterm: less than 37 weeks pregnant. These children typically weigh less than 2.5 kg and have breathing problems and/or problems with thermoregulation. They can easily get an infection because they lack important antibodies that are passed on through innate immunity.
Postterm: more than 41 weeks pregnant. Babies can be dehydrated and lose weight because the placenta has already stopped providing them with the necessary amount of oxygen and nutrients. The head of postterm babies often reaches a size that makes vaginal delivery impossible; a caesarean section is required.
In Montessori education, newborn care in the first days of life includes feeding, bathing and toileting. Since feeding is a separate big topic, in this article we consider bathing and toileting.
Bathing
Parents of a baby wonder: “How to bathe a child for the first time?”, while thinking that this is a purely hygienic procedure. In fact, the purposes of bathing are not primarily those that are designed to make the baby clean, but those that allow the baby’s body to come into contact with water. This allows him to relax and get pleasant sensations. This relaxation allows you to better prepare for sleep.
It also builds hygiene habits and helps to establish a bond between the adult and the baby. Therefore, it is important that dad has the opportunity to bathe the baby. Mom’s connection is established through feeding.
Bathing acts as a beneficial, soothing and relaxing remedy. This process can be a very positive experience for the child, which allows him to briefly return to the familiar sensations received in the mother’s womb.
It is important to wash your baby every day at the same time, in the same place, taking into account his sleeping and eating schedule. This allows you to set a certain mode, which creates a sense of security in infants.
The best time for washing is determined by each family independently, but more often it is convenient for the baby to bathe before bed at night. Before the bath, you can give the baby a light massage.
Before washing the child, the following items must be prepared:
Silk and wool shirts without buttons, sewn one inside the other, seams out.
Two topponcino (on one you will bring the baby, on the second, clean, you will take it away).
Basket with accessories.
One towel for a baby, one for an adult.
Baskets (or buckets) for dirty linen and diapers.
Heating pad (to keep towels and clothes warm).
Diapers (nappies).
Container with sterile eye wipes.
Tweezers.
Facial wipes.
How is the process of bathing a newborn:
The bath is filled ¾ with water, the temperature of which is 37 degrees.
Then wash your own hands with hot water so that they are not cold.
The diaper/diaper is removed from the child. If he poops, he is cleaned with cotton soap or special Ph-neutral wet wipes for babies.
Then the lower part of the baby’s body is wrapped in a clean diaper and the clothes are removed from the upper part, placing one hand on the baby’s chest.
Holding the child with both hands, he is gradually immersed in water, starting with the legs and ending with the shoulders. The slow actions of an adult are necessary to save the baby from a sharp and unpleasant impression. So we will protect him from fear as much as possible.
To a sharp immersion in water, the baby reacts by opening his arms, begins to cry with aspiration, and this crying continues for a long time. For the first time in a child’s life, a baby can be frightened precisely during bathing. The consequences of such fear can be traumatic for many years. Therefore, children should feel safe while swimming.
After we have made sure that the child is calm, we moisten his head and gently lather it, then – the ears and behind the ears.
Next, carefully wash the head, making sure that water does not get into the ears.
Then dry the head with blotting movements with a napkin made of natural material.
Next, wash the rest of the body of the baby, gently washing all the folds; at the end, wash it with clean water. If the child behaves calmly, then it can be turned over to wash the back. Remember that shampoo is not used until the baby has grown hair.
Turn your baby on his back so he can see your face and take him out of the bath with a towel wrapped around him.
Dry the baby.
Place the baby on the topponcino and transfer to the changing table.
Then we move on to hygiene procedures.
You may be interested in the e-book about the development of the child in the first year of life. Everything in it is scientific, but in simple words. The most important thing in just 60 pages.
Toilet
Hygiene procedures can be continued after bathing by father or performed by mother. Newborn skin care can begin with checking the navel. If there are cracks, then the navel must be lubricated with an antiseptic.
Check your baby’s skin in the groin and folds for diaper rash. If you find them, use powder.
Hygiene procedures for the genitals of boys and girls must be performed very carefully, using sterile wipes or cotton pads soaked in boiled water.
How to care for a newborn girl
A baby has white, grayish-white or beige discharge on her labia – this is smegma. If it is not enough, it will disappear by itself. It is worth removing smegma only if the plaque is abundant and does not go away after a few days.
Also in the first days of life, a newborn may have small bloody discharge, which indicates that maternal hormones are being excreted from the child’s body. This is normal and should not cause concern.
How to care for a newborn boy
Intimate hygiene for baby boys includes daily washing of the genitals with clean water without soap or other cosmetics at each diaper change and when bathing.
Treat the inguinal folds around the penis and scrotum with baby powder or oil.
General advice
Change diapers or diapers as soon as the baby has peeed or pooped. In the Montessori approach, diapers are not used, as this further disrupts the process of mastering the potty. It is important to periodically keep the child without them while taking air baths.
Only use baby clothes (diapers, panties) made from natural materials (cotton, flannel). Remember that babies should always be washed after the toilet for the most part and in the process of washing before bed.
At the end of the intimate hygiene procedures, smear the baby’s body with natural oil and wrap its lower part in a clean diaper. Put on the newborn shirts, worn one into the other (to simplify dressing and once again not disturb the baby), and proceed to facial hygiene.
Take a sterile cotton pad or cotton pad with tweezers and wipe one eye. In newborns, we wipe our eyes from the nose, since the tear ducts are still closed – newborns cry without tears. When tears appear, we begin to wipe already to the nose.
Then take a second clean tissue and wipe the other eye. Wipe your face with a third wipe. In no case do not use the same napkin for both eyes – in case of infection, you can transfer it from a diseased eye to a healthy one.
If your baby has snot coming out of his nose, wipe it off with a clean tissue. If they are dry, wipe them off with a cotton pad soaked in warm water.
Remember that the first months of a baby’s life will fly by very quickly. But the way his loved ones will take care of him will forever remain in his subconscious and will affect his whole subsequent life.
The newborn period is the most important time for establishing contact and warm relations between parents and a child.

Affordable childcare and quality preschools are top priorities for parents in 13 countries in Europe and Central Asia
The survey asked parents to identify what types of state, business and community support for families they consider most important. The results of the study showed that 26 percent of parents named quality preschools as the most important measure of state support for families, and 25 percent preferred more affordable child care options.
Survey results vary by country. For example, 60 percent of respondents in North Macedonia reported that they would prefer extended paid parental leave as the most valuable support, while in Moldova only 15 percent of such respondents. Affordable and accessible childcare is the biggest priority for most respondents in Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.
About 27 percent of parents said they would like employers to offer the opportunity to work remotely, and 26 percent of parents prioritize paid leave if their child is sick. Flexible working hours were the third most frequent request.
At the community level, 43 percent of parents surveyed preferred safe places for their children to play, and 42 percent preferred affordable housing for families. In Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, about three-quarters of parents prefer safe places for their children to play, compared with 30 percent in Kyrgyzstan and 14 percent in Serbia.
The results of the survey were published at the same time as the start of UNICEF Parent Month. UNICEF recognizes and celebrates the important role of parents in shaping their children’s lives and calls for improved parenting support, including mental health services and family-friendly policies.
It is a collective responsibility of governments, businesses and communities to ensure that parents have access to support services that enable them to create the best environment for their children to grow and develop
“Parents are the most involved in the growth and development of their children, ensuring their happiness, health, well-being and, ultimately, influencing who children become in adulthood. It is the collective responsibility of governments, businesses and communities to ensure that parents have access to support services that will enable them to create the best environment for their children to grow and develop,” said Philip Corey, Acting. UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia.
UNICEF encourages family-friendly policies that include universal early childhood education and care, child benefits, adequate parental leave of at least six months, mental health support, and universal access to parent support programs.
If you’re returning to work after parental leave, you’ll need to sort childcare for your little one.
We’ve made a list of childcare choices to help you start your search.
What is a day nursery?
Day nurseries care for children from birth to five years old, though the exact ages may vary. For example, not all nurseries will have the facilities to care for newborns.
Nursery staff are trained to create a safe and stimulating environment. Children are usually grouped by age, so your child will join in with activities suitable for them. They’ll be given a keyworker, who is responsible for keeping you up to date on how your child’s getting on.
Nurseries must meet certain national standards and teach a curriculum designed for young children. This means there’s a structure for your child’s learning and care.
Day nurseries must be registered with and inspected by the appropriate authority for their country:
England: Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills)
Scotland: Care Inspectorate
Wales: Estyn (HM Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales)
Northern Ireland: Early Years Teams within Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts
Many day nurseries are open from 7am to 7pm, for parents with a long working day or commute. You’ll find most day nurseries are open all year round, apart from bank holidays and over Christmas. Some may close for staff training but will give parents lots of advanced warning.
Day nurseries are different from nursery schools. Nursery schools, or preschools, are often attached to a primary school. They’re for children aged from three years to five years, and usually open during school term times only.
What is a childminder?
A childminder tends to work independently and cares for your child in their home. Many childminders are parents themselves and may also have their own children to care for.
Childminders can care for up to six children at a time, including their own. No more than three children should be younger than five, and of these three, only one can be under a year old. This means a childminder will be able to give your child plenty of attention and one-to-one care.
Most childminders work on weekdays between 8am and 6pm, but some work longer hours or at weekends. You’ll need to find a childminder with working hours that fit in with yours.
Like day nurseries, childminders must be registered with the appropriate authority for their country. They have to complete a pre-registration course that covers topics such as child nutrition, food hygiene, and health and safety.
Many childminders study for more qualifications, such as a diploma or degree in childcare. Some also take a course in first-aid.
Childminders will provide toys and activities to help your child to learn new things. As part of their registration, they must prove that they can support your child’s development.
What does a nanny do?
A nanny is employed by you to care for your child in your own home. Depending on what you agree and the age of your child, a nanny may be responsible for:
planning activities to suit your child’s age
feeding, bathing and dressing them
changing nappies, or helping them use the potty or toilet
preparing meals for your child
cleaning their room
washing and ironing their clothes and bedclothes
A nanny should also help with the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of your child. This means doing things such as taking them swimming, reading to them, taking them to playgroups, or supporting them in reaching developmental milestones.
Although nannies don’t have to hold a qualification in childcare, most do some kind of formal training or study.
In Scotland, nanny agencies must register with Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS). Elsewhere in the UK, a nanny can choose to register with the relevant authority:
England: Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills)
Wales: The Approval of Home Childcare Providers (Wales) Scheme
Northern Ireland: Home Childcarer Approval Scheme (only if they care for children from more than two families)
Your nanny has a lot of responsibility in caring for your child. So make sure you find a carer you trust, and who your child is comfortable with.
If hiring a nanny is too much for your budget, it may help to know that some families share a nanny, splitting the costs and legal responsibilities.
What does an au pair do?
An au pair is a young person from abroad who has come to the UK to learn English.
Typical responsibilities of an au pair include babysitting in the evenings, helping with light housework, and looking after your child during the day when needed.
An au pair will stay in your home, as part of your family. You’ll need to pay them a small fee and provide meals and a bedroom.
Most au pairs are not trained in childcare, although some may have done a bit of babysitting or looked after young siblings. For this reason, many agencies suggest that au pairs are best suited to parents who have preschool or school-aged children.
Could I use a relative for childcare?
Yes. Many parents ask a grandparent or other relative to look after their children.
Informal arrangements with relatives make up most childcare arrangements. It’s low-cost and flexible, and it means your child will be looked after by someone they know well, in a familiar environment.
Relative care works best if you have a good relationship with the relative, and if they’re willing and able to help. They’ll need to be happy to do things your way, so you may need to set out some ground rules.
If you’re nervous about setting ground rules, you could ask your relative whether they’d like to sign up for BabyCentre emails. This may be a good way to raise some parenting topics for discussion.
Still not sure which option will work best for you? Find out more about the cost of childcare.
Daycare: When to start? Are there risks to starting too early?
Have you heard that when mothers return to work within the first year of life, sending their child to daycare, this can result in later attachment issues, disobedience, and aggression? Don’t panic. It is not that straight forward.
I began researching this based on a subscriber email I received:
I just bumped into an article claiming that many hours of nursery in children under the age of two lead to aggression and insecurity later in life. I googled it and all the articles I found suggested the same thing. Is this all based on one study or are the majority of (good quality) studies suggesting it? It got me really worried and wondering whether I should try to reduce my hours drastically until she is at least two years old?” – Kat
Here is my response:
The big scale US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) studies seem most trustworthy because they measure the quality of care. Better quality care was when care givers were more sensitive (even to non-distress), provide cognitive stimulation, positive regard, foster exploration, and show less negative regard, detachment, flatness of affect, and intrusiveness (1, 2, 3).
Better quality care (and especially centre-based care) in the first four years was related to better cognitive outcomes (language, memory and pre academic skills) at 4.5 and early primary school, though effects got smaller with age (2, 3).
More hours of care, controlling for quality, was associated with more behavioural problems at 4.5 and in early primary school as rated by the teachers (the same effect was not found for parent-ratings). Hours of care was measured in hours per week averaged from 6 months to 4.5 years. It is therefore hard to distinguish children who started daycare at 6 months with moderate hours of care, from children who started later with high hours of care. Behavioural Problems included internalising problems such as anxiety and withdrawal, and externalising problems, such as rule-breaking and aggressive behaviour based on the Child Behaviour Checklist.
Other studies raise concerns about children starting daycare early, with recommendations ranging from no earlier than 9 months to no earlier than 18 months. However, most of these don’t measure the quality of childcare or problems are limited to cases where parents return to work early and the quality of childcare is poor.
How and why could daycare cause behavioural problems?
Children form a primary attachment to their mother and secondary attachments to other familiar caregivers. Attachment forms primarily in the first year but the first 3 years is thought to be a sensitive time for attachment. Insecure attachment is a major risk factor for a whole lot of problems throughout life and relationships. Two major concerns, which have not been validated empirically are:
Disrupted Attachment: The attachment to the mother might be compromised because it is not given the necessary time to form, or the child has to endure so many sustained absences, that it is no longer felt to be a secure or safe relationship (insecure attachment).
Stress: When young children don’t have access to an attachment figure, they have an “attachment seeking response”. The theory is that if no attachment figure is available they may disengage from that response and seem outwardly OK, but still be feeling heightened stress due to the unavailability of an attachment figure. Even if childcare staff are extremely sensitive, they are effectively strangers at first, not attachment figures.
What does the evidence say?
Disrupted Attachment
Disrupted Attachment was primarily found when young children spent days and weeks in hospital with limited parental contact. This is quite different from a situation where the mother can be trusted to return every afternoon and be around all night. A 2004 paper found that attachments remained or became secure if mothers spent more days adapting their 11-20 month old to childcare (4). A 1997 NICHD study found mother-child attachment was not affected by the return to work unless mothers were also insensitive to their child and the childcare was poor-quality or unstable or extended hours (1).
Based on the research, daycare itself doesn’t seem to be a risk factor for insecure attachment.
Stress
A 2004 study found that children did have increased stress hormone (cortisol) during adaptation and separation phases at preschool (not surprisingly). The level of cortisol had decreased 5 months later, but was still somewhat higher than when they were at home. These were toddlers who started childcare between 11 and 20 months of age. Children who already had a secure attachment with their Mum had lower levels of cortisol during adaptation (mother and child at the childcare centre) and fussed and cried less during the separation than children with an insecure attachment.
Based on this research it seems stress levels are higher at daycare (as you would expect just from the level of activity and excitement). A secure attachment with Mum may act as a protective factor by lessening the stress level somewhat. We know that adults suffer all sorts of mental and physical health problems as a result of chronic stress (stress that persists for a long time). The longer children are at daycare, per week, the longer they experience this heightened stress. We do not know what the short or long term effects are. Studies show the stress level in the morning at daycare is higher than home-life, but is it higher than a playdate in the park? Shopping with the kids? Family meltdowns at home? We do not know.
Based on the research, daycare is more stressful (could also mean exciting/fun/active) than home life. In small doses this is unlikely to be a problem. For long hours, we just don’t know.
Other Factors
So many other factors are likely to come into play here. A big one is how happy Mum and Dad are with the work-life balance. How well they cope with the work demands, keep up with the family demands, manage to schedule in time with their kids, and switch off from work for long enough to make kid-time into quality time. The longer the daycare hours, the harder this is to achieve, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
When to start Daycare: Take home messages
I agree with Belsky’s comments from this Guardian article. The effects are small enough, that it is hard to translate to recommendations for your child. If your child is in high hours of daycare from 6 months of age, there is an increased risk of behavioural issues down the track. There may be major behavioural issues, minor behavioural issues, no behavioural issues. We can’t predict for individual cases and it depends on a whole lot of other family and child factors also. One important factor is how happy the parents are and this is likely to be affected by the experienced work-family balance. It’s the governments, looking at the effects on society as a whole, who need to consider these effects seriously.
How much is too much?
Your best indicator will be your own family functioning. Are you coping with the workload? Are you able to switch off from work when you are with your kids? Are you getting quality time with your kids and your partner? Are interactions more positive than negative (aiming for about a 5:1 ratio)?
I can’t afford to work any less!
Some families cannot afford to work less than they do. Don’t let this be another source of guilt. When you see your kids, be there for them 100%. Increase the quality of time together, and let go of the worry about lack of quantity.

Baby 6 months old ✔️ What a baby should be able to do
The child is six months old! This is a date that parents perceive in a special way. The baby does not grow as rapidly as in the previous months of life, but the development of a child at 6 months shows how much a six-month-old baby differs from a completely helpless newborn. He begins to demonstrate new skills that just one or two months ago were not even a hint.
Young mothers and fathers, comparing their son or daughter with other children, naturally ask themselves questions about what a child should be able to do in the sixth month of life, and whether their baby meets developmental standards. While each baby is, of course, individual, you can compare your child’s development to the average standards that pediatricians are guided by.

How to help the baby develop?

Physical development
In accordance with the average indicators at the age of six months, a child:
can confidently roll over from one side to another, from back to stomach and vice versa;
leans on his hands for a long time from a prone position;
begins to make the first movements, reminiscent of crawling.
These skills – turning over, resting on hands, attempts to crawl – indicate the normal development of the child at the sixth month of life.
If your child seems to have poor body control, such as not being able to roll over or being able to support their weight with their hands when lying on their stomach, film the scenes that are embarrassing to you and show the video to the doctor.
Other indicators, such as height, weight, ability to sit, depend on the characteristics of a particular baby.

The table below shows the average height, weight, head circumference and chest circumference for boys and girls at six months:

The parameters are indicative, and if your baby was already noticeably larger or smaller than other newborns at birth, you can calculate his weight norm using the formula: weight at discharge from the hospital + 800×6 . You will get the approximate weight that the child should correspond to in six months.
The calendar of development of physical indicators in the first year of life is uneven: the most active growth and weight gain occurs in the first four months. By the sixth month of life, the baby adds 600-700 grams of weight from the previous indicator, grows by two to three centimeters, the head circumference becomes one centimeter larger, the chest circumference – by one or two centimeters.
At six months, many children erupt their first tooth. Although it is not uncommon for a tooth to appear earlier, at 3-4 months, or later, at 8-10 months. Pediatricians consider the eruption of the first tooth to be the norm until the end of the first year of life.
Differences between boys and girls
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
Six-month-old babies of different sexes do not differ much from each other: boys and girls have approximately the same height and weight, similar skills. Doctors note that usually girls begin to sit steadily and try to stand at the support earlier than boys. The remaining parameters of the development of children at six months are on average the same, regardless of gender.
Pediatricians recommend not to speed up the process of learning to sit independently when it comes to girls. If the girl does not want to sit down on her own and sit for a long time, do not seat her. So you will not allow a traumatic load on the spine and genitourinary system of your daughter.
Physical abilities
What a child can do at six months – physical development:
deftly turns over, easily leans on his hands while lying on his stomach;
muscle hypertonicity completely or almost completely disappears, the baby controls the limbs well;
lies on the stomach for a long time and with pleasure;
the sucking reflex decreases – the child can learn to eat from a spoon;
the baby abruptly pushes off with his feet from any surface when an adult holds him under his armpits.
What a baby should be able to do at 6 months
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
At the age of six months, a baby develops new skills and develops existing ones. The regime changes, often six-month-old children are introduced to complementary foods. The child perceives games and toys in a new way, and even caring for a baby becomes different.
Basic skills
Skills and abilities that a six-month-old baby knows quite well:
is interested in all objects that fall into the field of view, tries to grab them and study them;
tries to sit up on his own and sits steadily if he succeeded in sitting down or if an adult helped him into a sitting position;
tries to stand at the support, if possible – can raise one arm from this position, maintaining balance;
makes the first attempts to crawl, making characteristic movements from a prone position. Some children can get on all fours;
expresses affection not only for the mother, but also for other close people.
Motor activity, motor skills, reflexes
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
Motor activity and motor skills of a six-month-old baby, which assess whether the development of the baby meets the norms: , holds firmly in one or both hands, shifts from hand to hand;
consciously uses his hands – for example, he understands that a fallen toy needs to be picked up;
does not get tired when lying on his stomach and sitting for a short time due to strengthened back muscles, he tends to change positions himself.
At six months, the baby retains the reflex of automatic walking and support, which is inherent in children from birth to 8 months: the child straightens his legs, if you help him take a standing position, steps over his feet, as if imitating walking.
A new, more complex reflex appears – the straightening reflex of the body: when the head is turned to the side, the baby turns the body and pelvis in the same direction.
Intellectual development
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
A 6-month-old baby shows a noticeable jump in intellectual development compared to the previous period of life. A healthy baby:
is so interested in surrounding objects that he can enthusiastically examine and feel one toy for 10-20 minutes without attracting the attention of parents;
distinguishes familiar and unfamiliar people well, at the sight of strangers expresses alertness, fear;
understands that his purposeful actions cause certain consequences: for example, he knows that if you press on a sound toy, it will start playing music;
knows his name, responds to his own name;
distinguishes the mood of the surrounding people and the intonation of their speech: reacts with a smile or tears, depending on the circumstances;
one of the important methods of researching the world remains the “tooth test” of objects of interest.
Psychological development: emotions and mood
The main manifestations of emotions and mood in a six-month-old baby:
stays in a good mood for a long time when carried away by toys;
stops using crying as a means of getting attention. Cries if hungry or otherwise uncomfortable;
expresses a variety of emotions well with the help of facial expressions and voice: surprise, joy, fear, chagrin;
mood is often associated with the mood of close people, especially mothers: if mother is in a good mood, the baby is also in a good mood, if mother is upset, she starts to act up.
Sense organs: perception of the surrounding world
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
At six months, a child’s sense organs are not as well developed as in adults and older children, but much better than in newborns. A six-month-old baby already knows how to focus his eyes on a certain object, distinguishes bright colors well.
Taste buds are also developing: the child feels sweet, bitter, salty tastes. The ability to distinguish all shades of taste will be formed later – approximately by the time the baby goes to school.
Increased pain sensitivity. The child feels pain more acutely compared to the period when he was just born.
Hearing, smell and touch are already well developed in newborns, and remain at the same level at the age of six months.
Speech
A 6-month-old baby, of course, still does not speak meaningfully. But the sounds he makes change: the child does not coo, but babbles, trying to turn the sounds into syllables. Gradually, the baby begins to pronounce separate, audible syllables, tries to repeat sounds after adults.
Sleep, nutrition and daily routine
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
Growing up, children sleep less, but, to the relief of parents, much more soundly than before. A six-month-old baby sleeps two to three times a day, often sleeping continuously at night, especially if he is bottle-fed. The duration of sleep is different, depending on the characteristics of the child and the daily routine. Daytime sleep can take from 30 minutes to 2-3 hours, at night the baby is able to sleep up to 9-10 hours without waking up.
Six months is the age when complementary foods should be introduced, if you haven’t already. If you continue to feed your baby only with breast milk or formula, the risk of allergies to new products will increase significantly in the future.
Food safe for first feeding:
gluten-free dairy-free cereals;
one-component fruit and vegetable baby purees;
children’s cottage cheese.
When the child gets used to the first food and you make sure that the products do not cause allergies, gradually add new dishes to the menu:
milk porridge;
multi-component fruit and vegetable purees;
meat puree.
Baby continues to breastfeed at six months on demand. If the child is bottle-fed, give him a bottle of formula only after he has eaten other foods (porridge, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese).
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
Food unsafe for 6 month olds:
whole milk;
any food not ground to a puree consistency;
not suitable for age: for example, juices, on the packages of which it is indicated that the drink is intended for nutrition of children from three years of age.
A daily routine without gross violations is useful for children: they sleep better and are less capricious. Try to stick to roughly the same daily routine until the baby is 8-10 months old, when the time for sleep will decrease again.
The daily routine can be as follows:
7.00 – awakening, hygiene procedures, feeding;
8.30 – daytime sleep;
10.30 – awakening, feeding, games;
12.00 – walk;
14.00 – feeding upon returning home;
14.30 – games, developing activities;
16.00 – a walk combined with daytime sleep;
17.30 – feeding at home;
18.00 – games with toys, classes with parents;
20.30 – hygiene procedures, feeding;
21.00 – the approximate beginning of a night’s sleep.
Games and toys
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
A six-month-old baby is no longer afraid of new sounds. On the contrary, sound toys are of increased interest. Buy your baby a “singing” soft toy or children’s musical instruments – he will surely play with these items for a long time and with pleasure.
The child still likes to experience new tactile sensations: let him play with toys made from a variety of materials. Thanks to the development of vision, the crumbs will also like any toys of bright colors.
A six-month-old baby is interested in finger games, as well as children of an earlier age: for example, the well-known “Ladushki” and “Magpie-white-sided”. You can try to teach a child to assemble a pyramid: however, most children only remove rings at six months, but with regular games they master the principle of collecting and disassembling a pyramid in a few weeks.
Play a simplified version of hide-and-seek with your son or daughter – hide the toy in front of your child and ask him to find it. Over time, the child will begin to look for the toy, even if he did not see where you hid it.
Baby Care at 6 Months
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock. com
Basic Baby Care for 6 Months:
washing and rinsing;
keeping hair, nails, ears, nose clean;
brushing teeth – mandatory after a visit to a pediatric dentist and in accordance with his recommendations;
tempering procedures: sunbathing and air bathing;
bathing – once every two days or more often if necessary;
light massage.

Komarovsky’s opinion
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
Evgeny Olegovich Komarovsky, a well-known Russian pediatrician, advises anxious parents to reduce their anxiety. The doctor assures that there is no single norm for all children and you should not force the baby to develop faster if he lags behind his peers in some way.
Thus, Komarovsky believes that there is no need to teach a six-month-old child to sit and crawl if he himself does not strive for these movements – the baby will certainly sit down and crawl, but a little later.
Evgeny Olegovich also dispels the myth that active salivation is a harbinger of teething. According to the doctor’s observations, many babies over three months of age drool profusely, and the process of salivation is in no way connected with the appearance of the first tooth.
Common problems and solutions
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
Moms and dads of six-month-old babies often have the same problems that are easy to fix with the right approach:
1. The child does not sleep well at night, often wakes up
Do not worry if the baby wakes up only for feeding – at half a year such awakenings are quite natural. But if the baby refuses the breast or bottle, is naughty, or is just awake at night, try to improve sleep: put the baby to bed not too early. Before going to bed, you can take a bath.
2. Frequent injuries
The baby becomes much more active than before, and it is really difficult to keep track of him. Secure the space where the child spends the most time to the maximum: remove traumatic objects and small objects that you can choke on by negligence.
3. Crying and whining during teething
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock.com
If your child is having a very hard time getting their first teeth, such as fever or digestive problems, contact your pediatrician. The doctor will prescribe a drug to relieve the symptoms of teething, or suggest other ways to solve the problem.
Parents often worry if their baby does not fully meet the developmental standards set by pediatricians. In most cases, you should not worry, but there are several serious reasons to consult a specialist:
the child does not try to change the position of the body;
cannot keep his gaze on the same object for a long time, the baby’s gaze is as if “wandering”;
indifferently perceives other people, even the mother;
, prolonged monotonous movements are observed – for example, swinging arms without interruption for several minutes.
How can I help my child develop?
Prostock-studio/Shutterstock. com
Ways parents can help their six-month-old baby thrive:
Set up a safe place to play, such as a playpen. The child will get used to some isolation, and the natural separation from the mother will be easier.
In the playpen or on a baby rug on the floor, lay out colorful and vociferous toys. The baby will reach for interesting objects, preparing the body for crawling.
Choose toys that are age-appropriate: the child should not find it difficult to play with them. If this is a musical toy, pay attention to the fact that the music is played when lightly pressed.
Buy your baby the first book – always made of dense material.
Communicate regularly with your baby so that he learns speech faster. You can read nursery rhymes, poems, short stories to your son or daughter, or just talk about any abstract topics.
Six months is a wonderful age. Sleepless nights are left behind (or almost behind), the first teeth appear, the baby shows love and tenderness for loved ones. Play with your child, help him develop – and let most of the problems bypass you!

All children are different. Even twins often have different rates of development. Any tables and norms can only serve as a guide. Hardly anyone can feel a child better than a mother and know what and when he needs.
Height and weight at 6 months
In 2005, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued the Child Development Standards. They are based on a large-scale study of the height and weight of almost 9,000 full-term boys and girls from around the world who were breastfed for at least 6 months and their mothers did not smoke. Unlike the old standards, the new norms allow parents to track the development of the child, taking into account his individual characteristics.
Child’s height at 6 months
Babies grow an average of 1.7 cm in their sixth month. Perhaps this month you will decide to move your baby from the cradle, if you have used it, to a larger crib.
Natalia Trofimova
Senior sleep consultant, pediatrician
Children’s height and weight standards are very wide, depending on the term of delivery and birth weight, type of feeding. It is optimal when the height and weight indicators are in the same column-corridor (“medium”, “low”, “above average”, etc.) or in neighboring ones. The attention of the pediatrician is required when both indicators are in the extreme columns, or the difference between the corridors of values is 3 or more (for example, weight and height in the first percentile corridor is “very low” or weight in the first is “very low”, and height in the fifth is “higher than average”). 9More than a dream

Baby weight at 6 months
In the sixth month, babies gain an average of 450 grams in weight. But the increase can be either more or less than the average value. It is worth showing the baby to the doctor if he adds less than 100 grams per week.
Shulamith Volfson
Pediatrician with more than 18 years of experience
It is worth remembering the difference in the gains of breastfed and artificially fed children. Babies who eat formula milk add gradually, in the first six months, 600–700 g each. But breastfed babies up to 4–6 months old can sometimes even gain up to 1.5–2.5 kg per month, and this is absolutely normal , in the second half of the year such “dumplings” will definitely “slim”.

Skillful hands: developing hand skills at 6 months
You may notice that at this age the baby begins to move his fingers more clearly when grasping. If a toy gets into his hand, he not only can hold it, but swings it and shifts it from hand to hand. In the bathroom, the child can wave his hands at the sight of water, and while bathing, slap them on the surface. With “empty” hands, the baby also sometimes waves rhythmically.
Physical development of a child at 6 months
The baby becomes much more mobile. Many six-month-old children begin to crawl and sit up on their own. But don’t worry if this hasn’t happened to your child yet. Normally, independent sitting can develop even up to 9months, and crawling – up to 13!
You can encourage crawling by placing toys in front of your baby so that he has to move forward a little to catch them. Let the child crawl all over the floor in the room, ideally if the whole house becomes his play space. Before you let your baby crawl, make sure sockets are covered with plugs, wires and small objects are removed, hanging edges of the tablecloth are tucked up, and access to dangerous substances is closed.
Moms are most often worried this month:
Is it possible to sit down a baby if he is not yet sitting by himself?
If the baby does not sit down by himself, do not rush to sit him down. Better pay attention to preparing the muscles of the arms and back for mastering this skill. Encourage your child to get on all fours and crawl, do some light exercise, such as giving your baby your fingers to grab and allowing him to pull himself up on his hands and sit down. Having strengthened his arms and back, having mastered the position on all fours, the baby will quickly sit down without your help.
Tell your pediatrician if by the end of the seventh month the child has not learned to roll over from his stomach to his back.
If your baby has already shown food interest (looks enthusiastically at your plate, pulls his hands to your food), then at this age it is already possible to introduce complementary foods. It is usually recommended to start with one boiled vegetable, without salt or any other additives, with a serving of a quarter teaspoon, preferably in the morning. In any case, before introducing the first complementary foods, be sure to consult a pediatrician.
After six months, the innate immunity that the child received from the mother during pregnancy weakens. Perhaps the baby will catch a runny nose for the first time or start coughing. Read the article on sleep during illness to know how your baby will behave when unwell.
Many six-month-old babies are in the midst of teething. This can affect both sleep and behavior during the day.
Mental development of a child of 6 months
Literally, the baby has just come out of the fifth leap of development, as a result of which he learned about the relationship of things and the presence of a distance between them. As a consequence of this new knowledge, a separation fear appears: the child understands that his mother can leave, and he will not catch up with her! Therefore, he becomes more restless and can “hang” in his arms for a long time.
In addition, the baby begins to fear strangers. Now he is unlikely to go to the hands of a doctor or even to his grandmother, whom he has not seen for a long time, and maybe even be afraid of her one look!
Pay attention to the pediatrician if by the end of the seventh month the child does not chant syllables like “ma-ma”, “ba-ba”, “ga-ga”, etc. (does not babble).
Baby massage at 6 months
From the age of six months, one more massage technique can be added to stroking and rubbing – kneading. With the fingertips of one hand, except for the big one, lightly press on the skin and make short circular movements. Thus, we pass along the handles from the hand to the shoulder, along the legs from the foot to the hip, along the tummy clockwise, along the back from the buttocks to the neck along the spine.
Remember that for a healthy baby, massage is first of all a pleasant communication with the mother, and not an obligatory procedure. Five minutes a day will be enough. And if he (or you) doesn’t like it at all, it’s better to refuse such a pastime.
To make the massage more interesting, you can accompany it with play rhymes, for example:
Rain waters the grass,
( lightly tap on the back with the tips of relaxed fingers )
The wind shakes the tree.
( putting hands on shoulders, slightly rocking )
Leaves hanging, hanging
( softly touch your shoulders with your fingertips )
And they fly down quietly.
( slowly stroke along the spine with your fingertips )
Children run out to the kindergarten
( “run” the index and middle fingers of both hands along the back )
And the leaves are collected.
( pinch 9 lightly0738 )
They are carried to their home
( “pass” with the index and middle fingers of both hands along the back )
And they put it in a box.
( put paper sheets or fingertips on the baby’s palm and close his fingers into a fist )
Development of speech
The baby continues to babble, but at the same time changes are ripening in his mind that prepare the transition of babble into real speech. He continues to develop speech hearing, and he pronounces babbling syllables more and more clearly. This is due to the imitation of the speech that he hears from adults. Therefore, often talk to the child, even if he does not understand the meaning of the words.
He will begin to understand in just a couple of months, but already now you can prepare fertile ground. Just clearly name the items that the baby is interested in himself or that you are currently using.
How to play with a 6 month old baby?
Games with children after six months become much more interesting and varied.
Ball gymnastics . Stimulates the vestibular apparatus, develops coordination, prepares for walking.
Place the baby on the fitball with his tummy, hold him by the side and knee. Swing the ball back and forth, left and right and in a circle. You can accompany this with jokes, songs and gentle words.
Then rock up and down: first the baby stands on its feet for a second (you continue to support it), then “dives” upside down (not very low). Repeat 5-6 times. At the end, jump with the child on the ball: up to 10 times lying on the tummy and up to 10 times sitting. And then standing.
Phone Game . Develops onomatopoeia and active speech.
Sit next to your baby, hold a toy phone to your ear and say the simplest syllables, changing intonation and voice. For example:
Bababa. Bababa?
Mom. Mommy?
Dadada! Yes Yes Yes?
Give the phone to the baby. Perhaps he, too, will repeat these syllables after you.
Game “What is there?” . Develops fine motor skills of hands and thinking of the child.
Put an interesting toy in a pretty box. Draw the attention of the baby first to the box itself. Examine it, show the baby how it opens. Invite him to open the box himself.
Then ask, “What’s in there?” Switch your baby’s attention to the toy. Take the toy out of the box and play with it. At the same time, constantly pay the attention of the baby to the name of the toy. For example: “This is a dog. What a doggy! Let’s hide the dog in the box.” Continue playing with other toys.
Many options for playing with a six-month-old baby using the PEKIP system are described in a separate article on our website.
Toys for a 6-month-old baby
A six-month-old baby is interested in almost everything, which means that toys become even more diverse. The child continues to learn colors, shapes, sizes, textures, actions that can be performed with a toy. The only requirement for it is safety: the absence of small parts that can be taken into the mouth, sharp edges, long ribbons, etc.
How sleep and child development mutually influence each other
A 6-month-old baby normally sleeps 13. 5–16 hours a day. Night sleep of them – 10-12 hours. Some children have three more daytime sleeps, while others are already switching to 2. Read more about the night and daytime sleep of a six-month-old baby in our service: “A child’s sleep month by month.”
At this age, the child can already be offered a toy for sleeping, as well as begin to teach him to fall asleep on his own.
BabySleep FAQ this month
Mom:
“The child is 6 months and a week old, all this time there were no problems with sleep, somewhere from 5 months he sleeps at night for 8–9 hours without waking up. Now the picture: three daytime sleeps, the first two are about 1.5 hours each, the last 45 minutes. My daughter always went to sleep and leaves with my breasts, then I put her in the crib.
The question is that I began to go to sleep at night (for the last couple of weeks) late, much later than usual – at 22-23 hours (before that, I normally left with breasts at about 20:00). During the day and in the last hours of the evening, the daughter is cheerful and cheerful, communicates, explores the world, explores rattles. Why can this be so? What to do?”
Counselor’s answer
Tatyana Popova
Senior sleep consultant, psychologist
Your daughter is growing and the amount of time she is comfortable with is increasing. Because of this, dreams “slip” and the rhythm of the day as a whole “floats”. After six months, some children are already ready to switch to two daytime naps, if they can withstand at least 3 hours of wakefulness without overindulgence.
What should you do? There are two options: 1 – try to slightly lengthen the daughter’s wakefulness at the beginning of the day and between sleeps, and instead of the third sleep, put her to bed early at night; 2 – if two dreams are still clearly not enough for the baby, then one of the first long dreams should be reduced (to about 1 hour) and due to this, bedtime in the evening should be shifted to an earlier time.

Nanny in the USA for your child. According to sittercity.com, they are in… | by Nata Shama

Norman Rockwell, The Nanny and the Crying Baby
According to sittercity .com, and they are aware of the situation, every 9 seconds in the US one family meets a new babysitter, that is, a person who will sit with the child while the parents have things to do.
They enter your home and spend time with your children. They are Russian-speaking and English-speaking. This could be an adult with recommendations or a teenager doing math in the living room after the toddler is in bed. Mostly they are women, but sometimes men take care of children. We have collected for you all the information about the nannies you can deal with in the States.
How are we?
A grandmother often sits with the child. American grandparents also like to tinker with the kids, but the mother-in-law or mother-in-law does not have to be a nanny, and she may well have her own affairs, so if you marry an American and expect his mother to sit with the little ones, it can be very useless.
What kind of nannies are there?
All nannies can be divided into three groups: au pair, sitter and nanny.
Au pair is an au pair, usually an immigrant, who spends up to 10 hours a day with a child, but no more than 45 hours a week. Unlike nannies, an au pair does not do housework, such as doing laundry or cooking, unless it is directly related to the child.
Such helpers should be eligible for childcare by the U. S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. If they work with toddlers under 2 years of age, they must have at least 200 hours of experience with children. The average salary of a home assistant is from $400 per month, plus the family provides them with housing and food.
Babysitter is a person who stays with a child from time to time, that is, is hired on an hourly basis when parents need to go or go somewhere. There are date-night sitters, before-school and after-school sitters, go-to sitters, infant-sitters for the little ones, and sitters for children with special needs.
The average babysitter salary is 10-15 dollars per hour for one child and about 18 dollars per hour for two, they are often tipped. Students and teenagers are paid less. If the sitter comes from afar, he is paid a little more. If a babysitter works full time, their annual salary may exceed $25,000, including two weeks’ vacation.
Nanny is a permanent staff, a person who not only looks after the child, but also develops it, feeds it, takes it to school, helps with housework, etc. The nannies live with the wards in the same house or work with them every day, but go home for the night.
There are part-time and full-time nannies, as well as nannies for special children. Typical full-time babysitting: 40-70 hours per week.
A nanny is typically a female aged 18-50 who is a member of a professional organization such as the International Nanny Association. They are paid an annual salary in the region of $30,000, with fluctuations depending on the situation and the state.
How to find a nanny or sitter
There are agencies, but it’s good to ask parents you know who they hired and can recommend. You won’t necessarily be the right person for the person they praise, but a recommendation from people who treat you positively is clearly more valuable in a nanny issue than recommendations on websites or from candidates’ resumes.
If you have acquaintances with free time who are trusted by your children, you can offer them the job of a sitter, but remember that no one will sit with the child out of the goodness of their hearts, you have to pay for this, even if it is your friend.
How to tell if a babysitter is a good one
If you are hiring a stranger, do a few checks before you meet your child: read the resume, call the referrals, ask the babysitter a few surprise first aid questions. If you’re hiring a nanny from an agency, they must have information about her possible criminal record.
It is important that the baby likes the nanny, but it is probably not worth counting on an objective assessment from a three-year-old or a six-year-old, so it’s better to ask not “Did you like Katy?”, but “What did you and Katy do?”, “What did you play?”, “What was the most interesting today?”.
In the early days, be attentive to the nanny. See how she treats the child. If she drives a child somewhere, take a ride with them several times, evaluate her driving skills, how she puts the baby in the car and ensures his safety. Prepare routines for the nanny, urgent numbers, write them on the refrigerator or in another place where they will not be lost.
These markers will help you understand that the nanny is good:
1. She is sincerely glad to see your baby every time. If a nanny doesn’t love every child from the first second, that’s a bad nanny. But if there are too many lisps, they can be feigned.
2. She comes up with solutions to problems and works for the benefit of the child. If your nanny already in the first days understood how to help the baby, and offered you a way, this is a very good sign. For example, she noticed that he refuses to sleep when he has eaten, but not feeding is not an option, and she suggests changing the child’s schedule by inserting a short walk between lunch and bedtime.
3. She respects your time. A good nanny doesn’t call for every little thing and doesn’t keep you talking. Also, being late is a wake-up call. From the person to whom you trust children, you want hyper-responsibility, right?
4. She reports every day. A responsible nanny will leave notes with a report that the baby is full, how his health is, what they did today, and all that.
5. The child and the house are kept clean. If when you return, the child does not need additional care, he is clean and well-fed, and the house is in the same condition in which you left it, you are lucky to have a nanny.
6. Problems don’t happen often. Absolutely impossible without them, but an intelligent nanny will reduce the number of incidents, and they will happen a little less often than you fear.

The family that built Krasnoznamensk
The young and beautiful city of Krasnoznamensk, with developed infrastructure, modern landscape…
Now it is difficult to imagine that relatively recently this land was a wetland.
And elks, wild boars, hares and foxes roamed the impenetrable forests…
This is how she appeared before the “pioneers”.
And they, step by step, creating a settlement, in the most difficult conditions, wrote the history of our city with their work.
Among those who first set foot on this land were the Marchenkovs. Eduard Fomich and Nina Nikitichna are rightfully considered honorary residents of the city.
And no wonder. They were among those few who had the opportunity not only to see the pristine beauty, but also to take a direct part in its transformation. And the result, as we see, is obvious.
Initially, the article was conceived about the history of the city.
Eduard Fomich really wanted to tell how Krasnoznamensk arose brick by brick, log by log.
But he did not have time … He was gone. And now, recalling our meeting with the Marchenkovs, I regret that this material was not published during his lifetime. Fortunately, during our meeting, the veteran of the city managed to tell a lot, and now, as far as possible, I will try to convey what I heard in my own words. Only one thing upset him: in various printed publications reflecting the history of Krasnoznamensk, there are many inaccuracies and factual errors.
Eduard Fomich was born in a working-class family.
His father was a railroad worker, his mother was a weaver. During the famine in 1933, the head of the family died.
A year later, my grandmother also died. Caring for his grandfather, who was seriously ill, fell on the shoulders of little Edward.
In addition to medical treatment, food security, his duties included looking after a piglet, a cow, a brood, ducks and other domestic animals.
The boy did not forget about school either. And when the war came, he graduated from only five classes …
In August, the daily bombing of the Nazis became permanent.
And in early September, the enemy landed troops. Machine guns and mortars did not stop shelling.
The children were taken in a car to a pioneer camp near Vyazma, but by that time it no longer existed.
Mother, along with others, worked tirelessly.
– My sister and I returned to Yartsevo in passing cars. The city was literally on fire.
The bombings went on continuously, – Eduard Fomich recalled. “We did not find the mother and relatives.
They hid from shelling along the roadsides.
Then there was the city of Kirsanov, Tambov region. And on October 6 we were already in Canada.
People of various professions have now become simple workers. They dug trenches, erected foundations, walls.
Machines and units were installed within three months.
Thus, plant No. 14 of the 1st construction of the GUSHDOR of the NKVD of the USSR was created, which began to produce products for the front …
And he, a thirteen-year-old boy, was sent to shop number 1, where people like him, in terrible conditions, dirty, hungry, persistently mastered three professions at once: a driver, a mechanic and a tractor driver.
During the twelve-hour day, only two meals a day.
In 1943, Eduard Fomich was already working freely on all types of domestic vehicles and tractors.
In the summer of 1944, he returned to his homeland, to the city of Yartsevo. Having already two documents in hand – trade union and Komsomol tickets, he immediately went to work at the Yartsevskaya spinning and weaving factory.
He started as a foreman, then as a mechanic of the motor transport fleet.
At the same time, he managed to study at an evening school, where he graduated from the 7th grade.
Not a single house remained in the city. The wooden ones burned down, and only parts of the walls remained from the brick ones.
Restoration of brick barracks, hospitals, shops began. The city needed a large amount of building materials, fuel. There were not enough people, especially specialists. This is what he began to do.
In December 1948, Marchenkov became a cadet of the Chelyabinsk Higher Red Banner Aviation School of Navigators and Communications Specialists, and upon graduation he was sent to Moscow, to 44 OPS at the long-range aviation headquarters, which was stationed at Kuskovo station.
The young officer is appointed assistant commander of platoon 44 OPS 21989 and head of the RAT radio station.
In August 1950, by decision of the command and the Komsomol organization, Eduard Fomich accompanied the work of the state commission.
This was the height of the Cold War. Long-range aviation had three air armies, plus strategic divisions.
And what can planes do without communication? It was necessary to create a center capable of managing crews anywhere in the world …
Therefore, a decision is made to build a powerful center, which will be called the central communication center, which is part of long-range aviation.
The commission started working at the end of August 1950.
– At my disposal were drivers, electricians, chauffeurs, telegraph operators …
In general, people – who should provide communication.
We were given three points. The first is the Golitsyno station, located between the pond and the ring road.
(Now this place is occupied by the military hospital of the FSB). The second is Larks.
(Now Lord Chubais is located here).
The commission made a decision: the best location is the third point – Kuntsevsky district, the village of Sidorovskoye.
The choice was made upon careful study and verification of the state of the ether of noise and electrical interference. A swampy area of the forest began from the eastern part. A few months later, a small group of soldiers led by Lieutenant Tolmachev was sent here.
They were faced with the task of accepting and unloading the Finnish houses.
But they mistakenly ended up not at their destination, but in Ukraine, where there is also a Golitsyno station.
Therefore, the entire team, which included the old-timer of Krasnoznamensk Alexander Mikhailovich Sergeev, was sent back to the regiment, located in Perovo.
Until April 51 no one lived here.
The 1st company of the radio battalion arrived first and set up camp.
At the same time, a well-mechanized construction unit with an experienced engineering and technical staff appeared in Golitsino, which dealt only with secret objects.
The main task of the military was to drain the territory and roads.
The missing Finnish houses have been found.
The main work of preparing the sites, digging the foundation and assembling fell on the assistant platoon commander
Mikhail Gerasimovich Fisan, which he fulfilled with honor.
“We, the officers, had a hard time,” recalls Eduard Fomich.
There was no dining room, food, respectively, was, you know what…
From seven in the morning to nine in the evening on sandwiches, and at night, as they say, a feast of the stomach.
While the rest of the soldiers and conscripts were on boiler allowance.
In addition, we were given chrome boots (boots are not allowed in aviation), which, due to the waterlogging of the soil, came to a state of wet socks.
– A special issue is the connection of electricity.
We could not “power up” from the Sidorovsky network.
A power line of 6.3 kilovolts was approaching the pond and there was a weaving transformer.
But all this barely attracted Sidorovka.
The cross section of the wire did not allow to give more power.
Therefore, the first task was under each support, starting from Golitsino, ending with the Sidorovsky pond, to bring – pasonki – reinforced concrete pillars.
We replaced the wire with a larger diameter, the control unit and laid the cable from the final support to the future campus.
Mosenergo specialists were of good help.
Throughout the year, the personnel, in their free time from duty, was engaged in drainage and road construction.
Trenches were dug around, as the logs lay in a quagmire, sand was brought in.
At the same time, a well with a hand pump was drilled, where there was very tasty water.
The construction of the main water pumping station has begun.
It was located between the red house in the Old Town and the children’s clinic.
Builders have begun laying out roads and building foundations for future buildings.
There was an enormous amount of work. Ditches were dug, the roadbed was raised…
Reconstruction of power transmission lines and communications continued. It was problematic to carry out any work: there were only swamps around.
At the same time, the rapid construction of a boiler house, a residential building and a club followed.
Administrative building, soldiers’ barracks, warehouses.
And in July 1951, the Marchenkov family was born.
The very first woman to set foot on this earth was the wife of Eduard Fomich, Nina Nikitichna, whom they met on stage when the girl, the soloist of the regiment, sang Russian folk songs.
It was the love of a lifetime.
In 1952, three officers appeared under Marchenkov.
At this time, there was a sharp renewal of equipment in the army. The workload has also increased.
In addition to the fact that he was responsible for the development of the economy of the future center, his duties included monitoring the development of treatment, boiler, baths, pumping stations.
They were engaged in drainage, assisting builders in the construction of facilities.
In the second half, the Finnish houses arrived.
The main load – and this is digging – fell on the assistant commander of the first platoon – Mikhail Gerasimovich Fisan.
They settled the personnel of the battalion – the soldiers who were needed to ensure further construction and commissioning of the reception center.
All the rest continued to live in Kuskovo.
In April, Eduard Fomich transferred to permanent service in Golitsino-2.
Therefore, in order to be closer to the service, the Marchenkovs rented an apartment at the Perkhushkovo station, 150 meters from the station.
And on September 6, 1952, a holiday came in their family: their daughter Valentina was born.
The couple were incredibly happy about the appearance of the child.
Since there were no conditions for raising and caring for a child, Nina Nikitichna left for a while to visit relatives in Yartsevo. When she returned, she went to work. Then maternity leave did not allow a long break in work experience.
The Marchenkovs occupied a room in one of the outermost houses. There were already three families.
The first outlet has appeared.
At first, trade began in a Finnish house.
And Marchenkova Nina Nikitichna became the first seller of Krasnoznamensk.
– Before the opening of this tent – (from the Vnukovo airport) we used the fact that our women bought in the small shops of Golitsino, or Kobyakovo, where we went on foot.
But apart from crabs, and there were billions of them, the rest could be bought only on the day of delivery.
Yes, and basic products to buy was expensive.
Nina Nikitichna began to travel to Vnukovo to buy goods.
At the same time, two houses were connected into one. And it turned out a temporary radio communication center, which was headed by Vasily Rodionovich Kolesnikov.
In 1957, a residential building, a club, a canteen, a bathhouse and a number of other facilities were put into operation.
Marchenkov was appointed to the post of head of the electric power department.
He passed the full course of the school as an external student and received a diploma as a radio engineer-commander of a radio communications platoon.
He graduated from the 10th grade of the railway high school. And later in their family again an addition –
son Alexander was born.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the Radio Center was already in full operation.
Sports are very well developed, there is a stadium, a sports town.
People not only work hard, but also have a good rest. In the summer, families are taken to the Moscow River.
And in the winter, every month women organize trips to the House of the Soviet Army to the “Fighting Girlfriend”.
In the apartments, heating is already from the boiler room, in the bathroom the water is heated from titanium, in the kitchen there is a wood-burning stove.
Marchenkov Eduard Fomich retired from the post of assistant head of the radio center – head of the AHO.
Many years have passed since then. The city grew and developed.
Agree, few people, passing through its streets, think about what was on this very place before.
We live our lives, observing only what is happening to us here and now.
But behind every settlement, be it a city or a village, there is a whole era.
The era of human destinies, sometimes difficult, suffering and joys and, of course, incredible human labor …
And you know, if you, passing by some park or house, suddenly think for a moment about those who stood at its origins, then everything was not in vain.
In January Eduard Fomich passed away.
Although now Nina Nikitichna was not left alone.
It is supported by children, constantly visited by numerous friends.
But still, the feeling does not leave that she, as before, protects her beloved husband, his memory and everything that was connected with him. As always…

Horse in a coat – April 17, 2013
“Horse in a coat!” – since ancient times they answered, without hesitation, to the question: “Who is there?” Men, in general, are not horses at all, although they plow at work like crazy, but they still wear coats. Not at all universal clothing, and not even for all occasions, has taken pride of place in the men’s wardrobe. An elegant classic or a trendy novelty in jacquard or cashmere, it will give the look a touch of luxury or even rebelliousness – it all depends on which coat you choose.

Raincoat in the night
There is an opinion: “At the word “coat”, a picture with a peasant in a military overcoat made of thick wool appears in my head. As a fashionable bow, even a coat stylized as an overcoat is a great choice for men. I am for brutality in appearance, not elegance. (Dentist Ilya Korgopolov)
The coat became popular with the European public only in the middle of the 19th century. It was worn, as a rule, by aristocrats who were on the street for a short time and by military people who valued convenience in clothes. Although clothes did not save from frost and cold, they always added status to the appearance. When historians began to “dig” under the origin of the word “coat”, they found out that it came to us from France, but its roots are hot Spaniards. It turns out that Spanish peasants in the 16th-17th centuries wore a “coat”, which consisted of a “palla” cloak and a “toka” hood. Quite ordinary and unremarkable clothes attracted the Netherlands, which for a long time belonged to Andalusia. The coat immediately fell in love with the representatives of the blue blood and became exclusively a palace weekend attire “paltrok”.
Later, the French adopted the fashion for coats, but orders for tailoring were accepted only from representatives of the military profession. While the whole of Europe was evaluating the benefits of an amusing little thing, Russia had no idea what kind of coat it was and why it was needed. We had our own raincoats, frock coats and overcoats. Therefore, even the peak of fashion passed by, having interested the public only in the 20th century.
Coat with the name
The coat was constantly changing. Particularly fashionable models were even given the names of famous generals and politicians.
Raglan coat was introduced into fashion by the English Field Marshal Fitzroy Somerset, Lord Raglan. After a serious injury to his hand, a coat with an elongated sleeve was sewn to order, which made up a single line of the shoulder. This variety did not hamper the movements of the hands and body. A distinctive feature of the raglan coat was five fasteners on the left side, a turn-down collar with a metal hook for the fastener and, of course, a straight cut. They began to wear such a coat model only half a century after the death of the field marshal, in the 21st century.
Chesterfield coat – with this name, the prim English immortalized the name of the Earl of Chesterfield, who once ordered clothes in the image and likeness of a frock coat. The Chesterfield is a dark wool single-breasted coat with a concealed fastening, two side pockets, a small pocket above the right pocket and a velvet collar. Its length is usually just below the knee.
There is an opinion: “I really like men in coats! They look older, more serious and somehow even involuntarily cause respect. This courage is eye-catching. It’s not a sin for a random stranger in a suit and coat to turn around.” (Manager Ksenia Kaigorodova)
Other varieties were not deprived of attention and also received names, although their names do not correspond to the names of famous personalities, but to the fabrics, cities and towns in which they were sewn or to the companies in which they were produced.
Crombie is a classic English overcoat made by Crombie over 200 years ago. This is a single-breasted coat with a concealed closure. It is preferred to be worn mainly by business people. The straight cut adds elegance and sophistication to the look.
Coverkot – got its name from the fabric from which it is sewn. Many people confuse it with a chesterfield, and quite rightly – they are similar to each other in many ways, but there are a number of differences: firstly, the fabric is always a carpet with a diagonal weave of threads, and secondly, there are four decorative seams along the bottom edge of the coat and at the bottom of two sleeves.

A warm British overcoat is a legitimate successor to an overcoat. Mostly young people prefer to wear it, because you can wear it on anything: both a classic suit and trendy riding breeches with a tight shirt. This double-breasted coat, just above or below the knee, has six buttons, is sewn from heavy wool or cashmere, and is usually sold in only two colors – taupe or beige.
Duffle coat – exclusively Belgian duffle fabric, wool lining with a checkered pattern, hood and a small fastener at the neck. A distinctive feature of this coat are the front wooden fasteners with four ropes twisted into loops, two large outer pockets. It can be absolutely any color and even length.
There is an opinion: “Perhaps wearing a coat is not my style. I love different jackets, but if I worked in an office, pressed buttons on a computer and drove around in a wheelbarrow, then I would think about acquiring such a little thing. (Director of the sports store Dmitry Rudnykh)
Polo – everyone has heard about polo shirts, but not everyone knows about a coat with this name. It was introduced into fashion by British officers who threw their coats over their shoulders during a break in the polo game so as not to freeze between games. It is a double-breasted coat, just below the knee, with two large patch pockets and usually with a belt.
Overcoat – a strict military coat, which migrated to the wardrobe of a modern man from the official uniform of the military ground forces. The overcoat is usually sewn from dense wool, a beautifully designed fold flaunts on the back. Previously, overcoats were produced only with metal buttons, unfortunately, this military attribute is almost absent on brand new coats.
Pea coat – once belonged to military sailors, of course, figuratively speaking. This is a double-breasted coat with a large collar that perfectly protects against wind and cold. Its length is usually to the middle of the thigh. So, everything below the belt will have to be properly insulated.
How do we wear it?
Although the coat is considered a thing more than the autumn season, it can be worn in the spring. The main thing is that the street should not be too wet and dirty, otherwise you will not be able to do dry cleaning alone. Such clothes do not protect from severe cold, but they warm the soul with a vengeance. Coat owners are most often business men who follow the office dress code, and ordinary fashionistas who always keep up with the times and strive to look elegant. Stylists say that a coat for a modern man is not at all an attribute of a strict business style. It is worn with plaid shirts, and with jeans, and with oxfords, and even with ordinary work shoes. Therefore, before you say “I don’t work there” or “I don’t do what I do to put on a coat,” think ten times and finally please yourself with a worthy new thing in your wardrobe.

There is an opinion: “I think that every man should have a coat in his wardrobe. It always looks stylish and trendy. The choice of a coat occurs according to two criteria – age and height! Long coats are preferred mainly by adult men, but young people prefer models to the middle of the thigh or slightly lower. I recommend purchasing a light scarf or scarf for a coat. And remember, men in coats are elegance itself!” (Stylist Maria Isakova)
Designers and stylists advise wearing a coat over a shirt to avoid layering in the image and wrinkling all over the clothes. Thus, the same chesterfield coat or carpet coat can be an excellent substitute for a strict jacket.
If you prefer a more casual youth style, then combine jeans, a shirt with a coat that has a bright interesting lining.
By the way, for special occasions, such as going out in a tuxedo, a coat of the maximum length is ideal. Another will only add absurdity to the overall look.
If you like to dress in a military spirit, then an overcoat with high military boots, bags and trousers, preferably in the darkest colors, are ideal for you.
Choose your own
There is an opinion: “A coat is an essential element of every man’s and young man’s wardrobe. There are many brands on the market, so the eyes run wide from the choice. I wear a coat and am crazy about it. Can you imagine how a business man can afford to wear a leather jacket or a down jacket over his clothes? But in a coat, he will look great. You just need to choose your color (gray or blue) – and look impeccable in any, even the most inclement weather – you are guaranteed to succeed. (Writer Daniil Kozin)
One picture in my head and the thought “it will definitely suit me” may not be enough. Your best bet is to open your closet and go through all your clothes. Then decide whether such outerwear suits your style or not.
In the store, be guided by the length, of course, taking into account your height. In most cases, a long coat fits well on stately men of medium or tall stature. For short men, stylists recommend purchasing a short coat, otherwise the already small legs will be shortened to impossibility.
Coats are not cheap at all, so if you can’t buy a new one every time, it’s best to limit yourself to the classics. The avant-garde may not be suitable for a business look, thereby forcing you to put on an Alaska over your clothes or a jacket that looks more or less decent with a suit.
Pay attention to the color and fabric from which the coat is made. Wool and cashmere are the most commonly used options. Stylists also recommend purchasing coats from a mix of natural and synthetic fabrics. This will prolong the life of things and save you from the inconsolable ironing of bruises.
