Educator to open new day care center in East Dundee strip mall
After more than two decades in the classroom, Vicky Camilo-Simmons is ready to turn a long-held dream of operating her own early childhood education center into reality.
Recently, she and her husband, Dwight Simmons, took over the vacant spot left by Safari Childcare in East Dundee’s River Valley Square Shopping Center.

And by late-February, the Mundelein residents hope to be able to open the doors of Ideabox Childcare Inc., which they say will offer a play-based curriculum for children age six weeks to 6 years old.
“I taught for over 20 years, from pre-kindergarten to high school, and that’s my passion,” said Camilo-Simmons. “I wanted to open something that gives students at an early age an advantage…to be ready when they go to their kindergarten program or their first grade program knowing how to read, write, add and subtract.”

Camilo-Simmons said “helping little minds shape the world” will be the program’s motto.
“Most child care centers are play-based. But because I’m an educator I’m going to incorporate education,” Camilo-Simmons said. “If you put academics in a play program it works. The kids no longer think they’re learning.”
This week, East Dundee trustees approved granting a special use permit to allow Ideabox Childcare to operate at 460 Dundee Ave.
Remodeling work continues at the site, which will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and offer classroom space, a large indoor gym and an outdoor play area, according to village documents. Ideabox Childcare will have about 25 staff members overseeing an estimated capacity of 146 children.
While the village previously had a space requirement of 150 square feet per child for an outdoor play area, based on 25 percent of the facility’s capacity, trustees approved Monday eliminating that stipulation from the village code, opting to rely instead on the Department of Children and Family Services’ statewide standard of 75 square feet of safe outdoor area per child.
Child care centers are inspected, regulated and licensed by DCFS.
The husband-and-wife team said they scouted out several locations before choosing the former Safari Childcare site.
“When I came into East Dundee and looked at the place, I knew that was my town,” Camilo-Simmons said. “I told my husband, ‘This is it. This is where we need to be.’ That’s how I felt. And we moved forward.”

She explained that she’s excited about putting business roots down in the village.
“I’m trying to give back to a community that’s welcomed us with open arms,” Camilo-Simmons said.
For security, there will be a staff-operated entrance door to the Ideabox Childcare Inc. reception/waiting area and another staff-operated door to enter from reception into the classroom area after parent security check and sign-in procedures, according to village documents. Also, security cameras are expected to be installed throughout the center.
“She has been dreaming of doing this for the last 15 years. And I adopted the dream. She loves teaching kids. That’s the biggest thing for her,” Dwight Simmons, a dentist with a practice in Wisconsin, said about his wife.
Safari Childcare lawsuit accuses DCFS employees of harassment – Shaw Local
By Katie Smith
Sarah Nader – [email protected]
Safari Childcare, Inc. in McHenry closed after a DCFS investigation found the staff didn’t have the means to run the daycare and improperly kept children’s medical records. Now owner, James Ourth, has filed a lawsuit against the DCFS investigators. (Sarah Nader)
McHENRY – The owner of a local day-care chain is suing Illinois Department of Children and Family Services employees for intentionally working to shut down five of the business’ day-care centers, according to the lawsuit.
James Ourth, owner of Safari Childcare Inc., filed the lawsuit in federal court Dec. 13 and named more than 20 DCFS employees he said harassed and destroyed the business in retaliation of a confrontation involving Safari and multiple, unnamed political figures.
Five Safari locations have already been closed, and Ourth fears DCFS will seek to shut down the remaining centers in Hanover Park and Mount Prospect. Ourth is asking the judge for a declaration that DCFS’ conduct was a violation of the day care’s constitutional rights and enter an injunction barring the department from continuing to harass the day care chain. The lawsuit asks for unspecified money damages.
DCFS representatives said they would not comment on ongoing litigation.
Safari’s former McHenry center, 2214 W. Route 120, closed abruptly in May 2015 after a DCFS investigation.
A license compliance tracking report from DCFS at the time showed the McHenry facility had been at the center of complaints since January 2011. There had been more than a dozen complaints the day care center violated state rules regarding class sizes and staffing. Staff was not equipped to properly discipline children and did not keep proper medical records for children, according to violations noted before the closing of the McHenry center.
The center’s staff also was accused of not immediately reporting two instances of suspected child abuse or neglect, and allowing a child believed to have scabies to participate in daily activities.
Ourth’s attorney, Sara Garber, did not respond to phone calls and emails seeking a comment over the holidays.
Ourth has owned and run day care centers in Illinois since 1991 and in 2006, renamed his business to Safari Childcare Inc., according to the lawsuit.
From 2006 to 2014 Safari ran multiple day care centers, including locations at Mount Prospect, Palatine, Cary, Bensenville, Streamwood, McHenry, Highland Park, East Dundee, Hanover Park and Belvidere.
The trouble began in 2010 when Safari began to experience problems with DCFS checks and noticed delays in licensing and other applications, Ourth wrote in the suit.
In the spring of 2010, Safari Childcare submitted initial licensing applications to run day cares in Streamwood, McHenry and Highland Park. At that time they also submitted an application to allow one of the Mount Prospect day cares on Algonquin Road to include night and weekend care.
Ourth stated in the lawsuit that DCFS refused to process and approve the applications in a timely manner, causing delays that stopped Safari from opening and expanding as scheduled.
Throughout 2011 and 2012, Ourth scheduled meetings with DCFS administrators and directors. When the administrators “were not supportive,” Ourth began contacting local political representatives and state senators, who Ourth said participated in multiple meetings with DCFS and Safari, according to the lawsuit. He did not name the politicians involved.
Ourth states in the suit that after an April 2012 meeting in which Ourth and political representatives confronted DCFS administrators about their alleged mishandling of day care licensing and regulation, DCFS began intentionally trying to shut down Safari day care facilities in retaliation by using state daycare policies in unfair and illegal ways.
Ourth accused DCFS of first purposefully delaying permits, licensing and renewal visits and then increasing the number of unannounced checks on the centers.
He also claimed the department repeatedly reported Safari for not cooperating with “minuscule, vague provisions,” and then didn’t offer clear, corrective plans.
From July 2013 to May 2015 Safari received five notices from DCFS stating the department’s wouldn’t renew licensing for five of Safari’s day care centers, all within 18 months of one another, according to the lawsuit.
The business was “effectively destroyed in less than two years” when centers were continually shut down, the lawsuit states. Safari’s Highland Park center was closed in June 2015; Palatine’s October 2016; Belvidere’s in January 2017; and Bensenville’s in April 2017.
“The closure of five Safari locations combined with the delays and financial costs associated with complying with [DCFS’] targeted, irrational and unlawful administrative enforcement actions, created a domino effect with regard to the other Safari locations. …” Garber wrote in the lawsuit.
The suit is up for a status hearing Feb. 14 at the Illinois Northern District Court’s Chicago office.
Katie reported on the crime and courts beat for the Northwest Herald from 2017 through 2021. She began her career with Shaw Media in 2015 at the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb, where she reported on the courts, city council, the local school board, and business.
Vintage in majolica, Hollywood safari, rhythms of Dubai and the Armenian alphabet – City Fashion Week continues in Afimall City – POPCAKE
Especially for the shows on the 6th floor of the Afimall City shopping mall, a podium of an unusual configuration was created in the shortest possible time, and a unique panoramic glass dome with an area of about 10,000 sq.m with an incredible view of the skyscrapers of Moscow City became a spectacular part of the scenery, visually transferring the fashion show of models to the evening metropolitan sky.
The second day began with a public talk on the topic: “Fashion of the future and new technologies” from Natalia Ermakova, founder of Sustain It, an agency for sustainable development and integrated solutions for brands.
Next, SofyaTereshina presented its collection on the podium. As part of City Fashion Week, the young designer presented the “Country” collection – a light summer fantasy on the theme of music and country style. All items are made of natural safe fabrics, and some outfits are repeated in handmade soft toys.
The next brand is Ninushka. Guests could see the Vintage collection, which was created with great love for the incredibly stylish grandmother Nina (grandmother of designer Elena Khalilova) and inspired by vintage models of her dresses from photo albums of the 50s. It carries a deep meaning – how wonderful it is to be a woman and admire yourself and others. The basis of the collection is vintage style combined with modern fashion trends and luxury Italian fabrics with majolica pattern.
Next on the podium was a master class from stylist Ilmira Kim . She talked about how easy and fun it is to use accessories and introduced the latest trends in the accessory group.
The next collection was shown by the brand TSUVANI . As part of its Family Look concept, the brand demonstrated TSUVANI family at the City Fashion Week show – clothes for those who value freedom and quality. Bright prints, symbolizing the dynamics of the rhythm of life in Dubai, luxurious alluring silk and golden fabrics are well-recognized markers of oriental culture. To create the collection, only premium quality fabrics were used – jacquard, cotton, linen.
The next brand of designer clothing by Irina Gribova is IGemotions, , which is distinguished not only by a creative, but by an artistic approach to creating clothes.
Designer Irina’s special idea was to write drawings by hand for absolutely every thing, without using printing. Emotions, memories, travel, nature and music, like frames of filmstrips, give rise to ideas for new patterns for T-shirts. It was T-shirts with hand-painted drawings on natural silk that were a special part of the brand’s creativity. The Melody of the Forest collection reflects the main idea of the brand: art and comfort.
IGemotions looks that were presented on the catwalk – a combination of different textures with airy and weightless hand-painted silk. This is a synthesis of artistic art, this time reflecting the elements of the wind and embodied in unique models in the Casual style.
Then there was a show from the headliner SHATU . In its new collection, the SHATU brand rethinks the utilitarian and at the same time elegant style that has passed through decades, but remains at the peak of its popularity and demand – the safari style. In the middle of the last century, this laconic style was picked up by a refined public, inscribing it into everyday urban chic. But Hollywood brought him real fame. Thanks to such films as “Mogambo”, “Crocodile Dundee”, “Out of Africa”, the safari style has become associated with adventure, travel and romance, and their heroines – with charm and noble femininity.
Svetlana Shatunova, designer of the SHATU brand, drew inspiration from the iconic images of Eva Gardner, Grace Kelly, Linda Kozlowski to create her new story. The designer mixes the silhouette shapes of the safari style of the 50s, 80s and 90s, combining them with the brand’s honed iconic models and complementing them with new shapes. So for the first time in the history of the brand, such elements as a cape, a cape, a form of trousers in an oriental style, a new form of sleeves and a jacket dress appear in the collection.
Traditionally, the brand uses premium European raw materials, relying on high-tech fabrics with new textures. Thanks to the right materials, familiar products take on a new meaning.
The show from the brand NARNY closed the second day of the fashion week. The new collection featured feminine dresses, raincoats, skirts and blouses. This season, the designer took Armenian ornaments and the alphabet as the basis for prints and embroideries. The idea of the collection is a conceptual and delicate combination of elements of the heritage of ancient Armenian culture and modern trends, silhouettes, shapes and colors.
Femininity and restraint are inherent in all collections of the brand. For each collection, the designer develops author’s prints for fabrics and hand-embroidered elements that have become a distinctive feature of NARNY products, as well as long flowing dresses that are the basis of the brand’s DNA.
On April 21, from 4 pm to 5 pm, a master class by stylist Alina Grebneva on the spring-summer 2023 capsule from the models presented in the showrooms will take place on the catwalk, and at 6.30 pm there will be a Public Talk on the topic “Opportunities for the development and promotion of the brand in VKontakte communities”.
Klimkova kids, PlayToday (children’s show), collective show CITY RUNWAY (Dina Khannanova, Tempeless, Manit.Moscow), Iliana Louta and headliner KUCHUGOVA will present their collections.
Also on this day will be a fashion show-collaboration “I keep walking” with the participation of models with disabilities, which will be held by the non-profit organization “Open World” and Russian women’s clothing designer Ksenia Knyazeva. Among the models there will be girls with various forms of limitations – using wheelchairs, prosthetic arms and legs, models with cerebral palsy. In the collection, guests will see graceful feminine silhouettes, trendy prints, stylistic geometry and interesting cuts – everything for bright people who are open to the world.
On April 22, guests of the City Fashion Week will be able to get acquainted with the collections of DEVUSI by Alena Tokareva, Rina Collection, MEATTING, EFR FASHION, Josephine Cashpar, VENERA and the headliner CHARUEL, , which is presented in the Afimall City shopping center .
On the final day, April 23, there will be shows of LEREDE, VAN CLIFF, Olga Lyutich, TURBAN SVS, Alena Nega, AnPer.

We all know that there are now an incredible number of companies that are investing privately in debt and capital, institutionally supporting growing companies, and also indefinitely. full-time and mezzanine debt. It is known that private capital Columbia partners is an investment firm founded in 2004 in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. The goal of this investment company is to find higher risk-adjusted returns through affordable investments in the private market.
Columbia partners private equity invests directly in private companies through separately managed accounts and also deals with the sponsor of several private equity funds. They have over $625 million in private equity currently under their management.
As we went through the platform, we found that they are truly experts in what they do as they have experience working with investors and management teams in other areas to maximize value. My review will be based on trust in this unique institution venture capital that supports the growth, continuity and development of a largely private sector enterprises or companies.
Based on my research on Columbia’s private equity partners, these are capital investors who primarily invest their capital in private and existing businesses to ensure the smooth running and stability of such a company. Columbia’s private equity partners are abbreviated as CPPC and are headquartered in Washington, DC.
CPPCs are non-state, meaning they do not invest in state-owned or state-owned enterprises.
This institution not only invests its capital in private companies, but also pays their debts and capital. With the private equity of Columbia partners investing in your private company, I can assure you that your business is reaching a whole new level. Interaction with other people

Columbia is a private equity partner, a non-government institution that invests in private equity and is headquartered in Washington, DC. As I said, Columbia Partners private equity invests in private equity, venture capitals, and even mezzanine debt through its fund of funds.
The private equity of these Columbia partners is also invested in debt and equity and is private, they even invest in institutionally supported, growing companies, and more than four hundred and fifty million dollars are currently under private equity management of the Columbia partners.
And I would like to tell you guys that this esterblishment is one of the most unique and great companies that invest in private equity and even debt and can still have over 440 million dollars under management, this company should be recommended to all private investments, enterprises.

Alumni memories | MBDOU d / s “Harmony”, official site
A good teacher remains forever in a person’s heart. Even if the name of the educator, musical director, nanny is forgotten, the memory remains the love and affection that surrounded this person, the knowledge that he passed on, that example that, at times, we copy all our lives.
We tried to find matured graduates of our kindergartens and ask them what they remember from their preschool childhood.
MEMORY OF TATYANA VIKTOROVNA UGOLOGOY
Once I was also a graduate of Kindergarten No. 33. How long ago – in 1993! But the years spent in the garden will forever remain in my memory. I remember how I played in a group with my girlfriends in “Daughters – Mothers”, drew, sculpted and glued; I remember matinees in kindergarten, especially New Year’s, how they sang “Loaf” for my birthday. I also remember how we played outdoor games on a walk with our teachers, whom I also remember well. Their names are Marina Viktorovna and Oksana Yurievna. I want to note that during this time a lot has changed: in kindergarten it has become lighter, warmer, more comfortable; toys have become more interesting. But one thing has remained unchanged – the care and warm attitude of the teachers who still work in kindergarten No. 33.
MEMORIES OF KRISTINA ANDREYEVNA KOPYTKO
I call it “fate”! Kindergarten No. 33 is my destiny. My sister and I attended this kindergarten, my mother has been working in it for many years, now I also work, and my child goes to this kindergarten. I have only warm and kind memories of this place. I was very fond of going to kindergarten and still remember the name of my teacher – Burdakova Lyubov Ivanovna. The smell of lilac, the taste of semolina porridge and barberry leaves remained vivid memories. I remember how, in secret from the teachers, they ran away to a neighboring plot and ate sour barberry leaves. I still remember the matinee and the “Gypsy Girl” dance, where my mother put her long skirt with roses on me, and I was, as it seemed to me then, the most beautiful! Now, recalling all the moments from my childhood, I understand that at that time I sincerely believed in miracles and a fairy tale, that at a matinee we really are transported to a forest or a desert. I understand that this is the beauty of childhood!
MEMORIES OF VALIULIN MIKHAIL SERGEEVICH
I, Valiulin Mikhail Sergeevich, born in 1983 attended kindergarten No. 182 “Petushok” from 1986 to 1991. What do I remember about those happy, carefree days spent in kindergarten? I remember that I always ate badly, but the teacher Irina Mikhailovna Fomenko said that if I don’t eat, I won’t grow up. And I believed her and ate. Mom always wondered why I eat everything in kindergarten, but not at home. I remember some kind of holiday in kindergarten, where one of the heroes was Baba Yaga – she always seemed scary to me and I was a little afraid of her. Baba Yaga at the holiday was “real” (as it seemed to me then), she had a big nose with some kind of little thing, long shaggy hair, torn clothes … But after the holiday I stopped being afraid, because Baba Yaga at the holiday, although she looked creepy, but she was very cheerful and kind, she played with us, praised and even treated us with sweets … I remember how in the preparatory group, at a quiet hour, my friends and I were waiting for the teacher to leave the bedroom, and we would talk or play with them. But, as a rule, we fell asleep waiting. Still, a couple of times we managed to stay awake (not all of them): we got the hidden toys from under the pillow and quietly played and talked. The years have flown by, and the kindergarten, and the school, and the institute are long gone. Now my son Artyom attends this kindergarten. And I’m very happy about it. I am glad that my kindergarten is working, flourishing and educating the younger generation! I am grateful to the teachers “THEN” – for myself and “TODAY” – for my son. I am grateful for the best that kindergarten gives – development, communication, knowledge!
MEMORIES OF SHABANOV ARTUR RINATOVICH
I
I don’t remember my childhood well, but there are two vivid memories of kindergarten No.
182, which was once called “Cockerel”:
Memory No. 1.
When
I was small, I couldn’t pronounce the sound “Sh” and went to the speech therapist Elena
Leonidovna Romanova. I remember how – as if it were only yesterday, she taught me
make “Cup”, “Shovel” and “Fungus” (for some reason, I remember only these three
exercises, although we did others). Elena Leonidovna wrote assignments in
notebook and at home we studied it with my mother and grandmother. I tried very hard and
I learned to pronounce this “difficult” sound, for which I am very grateful to her. Now I
I am an adult, I serve in the National Guard, and this notebook, as a memory of childhood, is still
kept by my beloved grandmother.
Flashback #2.
I
I believed in Santa Claus for a very long time and waited for the New Year holiday. And, finally,
the long-awaited day has come. Matinee in the senior group.
—
Guys, let’s call Santa Claus! – suggested the Snow Maiden.
—
Santa Claus, Santa Claus! – the guys shout, and I – the loudest. From behind the door
a mysterious voice is heard.
—
Ay, ay! I’m coming!
I
he comes out – the main hero of the occasion, knocking with an ice staff. Children in
delighted. But just not me. This Grandfather reminds me of someone … A familiar voice, gait
and even eyes…
I
went up to my grandmother and quietly said:
–
And Santa Claus is not real, it’s a teacher in disguise.
I was very upset then. And even the real sweets that he gave me could not console me…
memories … Light glare, occasionally floating on the surface of the bottomless
ocean of consciousness. Warm, sunny, touching, infinitely elusive,
like fragments of dreams … “I go to a manger. There are pots in the toilet. green,
cold, iron, with a comfortable handle and color pictures. They stand against the wall
one in one, neat green turrets. I approach them and look for mine, with
bright cherry. Here he is, at the very bottom of the turret. I take the handle, I pull to myself.
The piercing sound of rolling pots, and the nanny runs into the restroom. In white
dressing gown, with a cap of curly black hair, she throws up her hands and reminds me of a big
white bird, just about ready to fly.” “I also remember a red fluffy cat,
about which I made up different stories. And dad, leading me home by the hand,
listened to them carefully.” “Kindergarten, on the tables are orange rags, sheets
paper, brushes and plates with paste. Nina Alexandrovna explains how
make an application. I take the details of the pyramid and arrange them in order on
sheet of paper. Around me, work is in full swing: children smear details with paste
pyramids, stick them, but I’m not in a hurry – I want my pyramid to turn out
even.
– Guys,
look at Tanya. She first laid out the details in order, and now
glues them on. Her pyramid will be beautiful, – Nina’s voice is heard
Alexandrovna.
On
In another lesson, they made greeting cards for mothers by March 8th. graceful
a branch of green paper was glued to the landscape sheet. Then Nina
Alexandrovna decorated these twigs with droplets of transparent glue and sprinkled
semolina. And we painted these flowers with yellow paint. It turned out very
beautiful and unique.”
“In
the group had a shelf on which stood home-made paper toys: a fox,
bunny, bear. I really liked them, I often admired them. Made at home
them herself, decorated with appliqués made of colored paper and foil. Especially liked
I should make bunnies.”
New Year’s
a matinee, a smartly decorated hall, a lush Christmas tree. Suddenly a painted
stove, Emelya sits on it. At the command of the pike, smoke poured out of the stove,
sparks rained down and yellow wonderful koloboks appeared. All children are given
this fabulous gift full of chocolates. I was so surprised by what I saw and happy about it
kolobok, that even after the sweets were eaten, she kept it for a long time and
played with him.
Stav
As an adult, I once asked Nina Alexandrovna if it was. – Yes it was,
she answered. Do you remember this? And there was a stove, and Emelya, and I glued papier-mâché koloboks
and painted long before the New Year’s party, since the end of September.
Both the red fluffy cat and the cold green pots were also there, and not invented by me after so many years. And Nina Alexandrovna has always been and remains a good angel of my childhood.
MEMORIES OF ONE GRADUATE
“Our life is divided into two parts: when we want to grow up and when we want to return to childhood as adults” is a wonderful epigraph that everyone will probably understand.
My son Ivan attends Kindergarten No. 85. He is happy to come here every day to meet with children and teachers. 24 years ago, I myself was a graduate of this preschool, then the kindergarten was called “Rosinka”. I belonged to the category of obedient children, so there were no emergencies. There were only positive memories of the kindergarten. There I was taught to swim, as there was a swimming pool and everyone looked forward to every lesson. I especially remember the quartzing procedure, when all the guys stood around the apparatus, put on goggles and warmed themselves. This is where I learned to sew. I remember how I helped the teacher to insert the thread into the eye of the needle and at the same time felt a sense of pride because I helped the teacher. Because of this skill, she received a scolding from her mother, as she cut the curtains to show how she learned how to sew a dress for a doll. I loved it when my parents took me away earlier. It was absolute happiness to go home first. The only minus for me was foam on milk and cocoa, I still cringe from memories!)))) After graduating from kindergarten, the girls visited the teachers for a couple more years and gave them bouquets of leaves in the fall, and in the spring from mother – and stepmothers. Now, coming for my son, I remember pictures from my childhood, the same bright, joyful and carefree time.
MEMORIES OF MAXIM VIKTOROVICH KHIRVONIN
How long ago I said goodbye to preschool childhood. How
it was good then: caring teachers, delicious meatballs, daytime sleep,
interesting activities and games, games, games … I want to share with you
one of the memories of that time, a memory of my father, me, educator
and the car that I so wanted to ride … “When I went to kindergarten, my
father at that time worked as a driver, he loaded and took away waste and garbage (before
it was taken from each entrance). So, his car drove past the children’s
garden, when we were walking with the teacher and the guys on the street. In general, for a child
(especially a boy) at that time the movement of the car past the kindergarten (and indeed
anywhere) was a joyful event. And for me – doubly, because I knew
that my dad drives the car, and he was very proud of it.

New child care center moving into East Dundee shopping center
A shuttered East Dundee day care will get new life when a similar business concept moves into the River Valley Square Shopping Center.
The village board on Monday unanimously approved granting a special-use permit to allow Ideabox Childcare to operate at 460 Dundee Ave. The site previously underwent hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of renovations to accommodate Safari Childcare, which ceased operations a few years ago, Village Administrator Jennifer Johnsen said.
“It’s been built out and there’s been significant investment in it,” she said. “It’s a good location.”
Ideabox aims to provide some flexibility and support to families in the area, co-owners Dwight Simmons and Vicky Camilo-Simmons said in an application to the village. “We’ll provide excellent child care services so parents can go to work without worrying about their kids’ safety, well-being and education,” they said.
The facility fills one of a handful of available storefronts in the River Valley Square Shopping Center, which has recently generated interest from several potential developers, Village President Lael Miller said. The strip mall is about half vacant, he said, including the big-box retail site formerly occupied by Dominick’s.
Ideabox Childcare will have the same layout as Safari: nine classrooms, a 4,000-square-foot outdoor play area, and a large indoor gym used for events and play time during inclement weather, according to village documents.

Vintage in majolica, Hollywood safari, rhythms of Dubai and the Armenian alphabet – City Fashion Week continues in Afimall City – POPCAKE
Especially for the shows on the 6th floor of the Afimall City shopping mall, a podium of an unusual configuration was created in the shortest possible time, and a unique panoramic glass dome with an area of about 10,000 sq. m with an incredible view of the skyscrapers of Moscow City became a spectacular part of the scenery, visually transferring the fashion show of models to the evening metropolitan sky.
On April 21, from 4 pm to 5 pm, a master class by stylist Alina Grebneva on the spring-summer 2023 capsule from the models presented in the showrooms will take place on the catwalk, and at 6. 30 pm there will be a Public Talk on the topic “Opportunities for the development and promotion of the brand in VKontakte communities”.
And the show from the headliner Svetlana Evstigneeva will be a bright event at the closing of the Fashion Week.
In the same place, on the 6th floor of the Afimall City shopping center, you can get to know brands such as EFR FASHION, Shatu, KUCHUGOVA, NARNY, DEVSI by Alena Tokareva, iGemotions, TURBAN SVS, as well as the Russian brand of natural leather shoes Riconte .

Child Care | State University Construction Fund
Providing quality care, educational learning centers, and community employment opportunities.
Child care facilities throughout SUNY provide quality care for over 5,000 children at 48 centers across the state. These centers are located at state-operated campuses and at community colleges, and provide a vital service for the campus and community by providing care for children of students, faculty, staff and community members. Of the 5,000 children served, approximately one-third are children of student parents, one-third are children of faculty and staff and one-third are children from the community. SUNY childcare centers allow parents to attend school and work while providing solid foundation of care and education for young children.
Collaboration with the campus community, local school districts, BOCES, United Way, CCR&Rs, Foster Grandparents, and other human service agencies provide a broad range of services for enrolled children and their families and creates a positive relationship with the community.
SUNY childcare centers allow student parents to succeed in school, prepare students for teaching and other professions and build a strong foundation for New York’s future workforce. SUNY childcare centers also provide sites for student interns and placements for work-study students in the fields of child development, education, nursing, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy and many others.
Finally, SUNY childcare centers contribute to economic development by providing employment opportunities for over 1,200 people. Investments in early care and education have an immediate and multiplying economic effect through spending on facilities, supplies and personnel. Early care and education professionals generally spend most of their earnings locally, realizing roughly $2 in local spending for each federal child care dollar spent.

Early Head Start/Head Start
MISSION
To prepare children for school while providing families access to community resources and comprehensive support services to ensure their children’s success.
WHY IS THIS PROGRAM IMPORTANT?
Early Head Start/Head Start is a federally funded program that prepares America’s most vulnerable children to succeed in school and beyond. Head Start programs deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way.
Because the program focuses on the family as a whole, children receive early screenings which may lead to early identification of developmental delays, lead poisoning, and dental, health care, and mental health service needs. The program also provides nutritious meals to children and referrals to community resources for families.
WHO / WHAT AGE GROUPS IT’S FOR:
Early Head Start has two options:
The Home Based program serves children prenatal to 3 and is available for working or non-working families.
Center Based programs serve children 6 weeks to 3 years old and are designed for working families.
Both options support families to transition to Center Based Head Start when age appropriate, or for those in Home Based to transition to Center Based Early Head Start when needed for working purposes.
Head Start provides preschool services for 3- and 4-year-old children in a Center Based model
How can I access this service?
Families access services through an income-based application process. Find a NM Head Start location.
Children who have disabilities, are living under foster/kinship care, are receiving Survivor SSI benefits, are experiencing homelessness, or who face other risk factors have priority.
What (if anything) it costs:

John Heinz: A Western Pennsylvania Legacy
H. J. and Sarah Heinz Howard and Elizabeth Rust Heinz H. J. “Jack” Heinz II and Joan Diehl Clifford and Vira Heinz
H. J. Heinz was born in 1844 in the Birmingham section of Pittsburgh, the son of Anna
Margaretha and John Henry Heinz. His father ran a brickyard in Sharpsburg; part of
that property was used as a household garden by his mother.
At the age of 14, Henry was already tending his own section of the garden and was developing
a list of customers. He attended Duff’s Mercantile College and thoroughly familiarized
himself with good, sound business practices. Soon, he began peddling prepared horseradish.
By 1869, Heinz was ready to formalize his business and did so by entering a partnership
with L. Clarence Noble and forming Heinz & Noble. Their first product was, of course,
horseradish, sold in clear bottles to prove that, unlike some foods, it was totally unadulterated.
In the same year, he married Sarah Sloan Young, known as Sallie, who was a first-generation
American, her family hailing from County Down, Ireland, where they owned a mill. Together they
had four children: Irene, Howard, Clarence and Clifford.
Disaster struck in 1875. Tight money, a national financial panic and the purchase of
huge stocks of cucumbers and cabbage led to the bankruptcy of the young company. Despite
seemingly impossible odds, Henry regrouped and forged ahead with the emotional and modest
financial support of Sarah. He vowed to repay every debt, which he considered moral
obligations, and did just that. By February 1876, he joined his brother John and cousin
Frederick and launched the F. & J. Heinz Company.
By 1888, Heinz bought out his partners, established a relationship with retailers
in England and embarked on construction of a factory on the Allegheny River that would
embody the best of his business acumen and his Christian principles. His benevolent management
style made the H. J. Heinz company a pioneer in labor relations. Workers were well
treated and afforded comforts and conveniences including free manicures and rooftop gardens
for both men and women.
In 1894, the greatest tragedy of Henry’s life occurred—the death of his dearly beloved
wife, Sallie. She died from double pneumonia, leaving a broken husband and bereaved children behind.
Despite his profound loss, Heinz worked tirelessly against a large segment of the processed
food industry to gain passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906. It inaugurated the modern
food industry and guaranteed purity to all consumers.
Years of hard work and innovation had made Henry John Heinz and his products internationally
known and respected. In 1919, in the year of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Heinz &
Noble, H. J. Heinz died of pneumonia at his home, Greenlawn, in Pittsburgh. He had instilled a sense
of duty and obligation in his children that would bear fruit for generations to come.
Howard Covode Heinz was born in 1877 to H. J. Heinz and his wife, Sallie. Raised with
an ethic of hard work and community obligation, he worked in the company’s factories
and salting stations around the country as a youth. Howard graduated from Yale in 1900 and
began his executive career.
In 1906, Howard married Elizabeth Granger Rust from Saginaw, Michigan. Elizabeth’s
family, the Rusts, were involved in the lumber business in Michigan. As a young woman,
she attended the fashionable Ogontz School for Young Ladies near Philadelphia, and she was an avid bridge
player. In 1908, their son H. J. “Jack” Heinz II was born, followed in 1913 by another son
named Rust.
During Howard’s tenure as president of the Heinz Company, World War I broke out and he
would come to have a role in the aftermath of the hostilities. Beginning in 1917, Howard
served as United States Food Administrator for Pennsylvania. At the end of the war, in
December 1918, Herbert Hoover, director of food relief, cabled Howard and asked him to serve
as Director-General of American Relief Administration for Southeast Europe and Asia Minor.
Howard willingly accepted and departed for Constantinople, where he would remain until his
father’s death in May of 1919 called him home. During his time away, Elizabeth, or “Betty,” as
Howard called her, wrote frequently and was very supportive.
The decades of the 1920s and 1930s saw Howard at the top of his game. The ’20s saw expansions
to thousands of acres, 69 branch offices and nearly 1400 salesmen. Howard controlled the
finances and traveled extensively to oversee this vast international empire.
With the onset of the Great Depression, Howard’s exceptional business skills, exercised during
the ’20s, paid off. The company had no debt and was actually able to expand its markets and
its workforce at a time when other companies were closing their doors. In fact, it was during
this time that son Jack was off to Australia to set up a new factory.
Also during the 1930s, Jack and Rust were completing their educations and beginning their
own careers. Jack would apprentice himself at the company, and Rust began designing automobiles
in Pasadena, California. He designed the Comet, a delivery vehicle for the Heinz Company, and
the Phantom Corsair, a futuristic vehicle with the ultimate in safety features. The car was
even featured in the movie The Young in Heart with Paulette Goddard and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
Ironically, there was only ever one Corsair made, as Rust lost his life in an automobile
accident in July of 1939.
As the 1940s approached, war loomed on the horizon for Europe and tragedy again befell
the Heinz family. This time, it would have to be H. J. Heinz II who would see the company through.
Howard died in early 1941 after suffering a stroke following a medical procedure in Philadelphia.
With his will, the Howard Heinz Endowment was established.
Elizabeth Heinz continued to live in their Morewood Heights home in Pittsburgh until her
death in 1952.
Born in 1908, Jack Heinz would live to see two world wars, the Great Depression, the vast
international expansion of the Heinz Company and a renaissance in the city of Pittsburgh.
He was educated at Choate, Yale and Cambridge, but, like his father before him, he worked
summers in the pickling and salting stations for the company. He then joined the sales force
in England and grew to have a happy and profitable association with the UK.
In 1935, Jack married Joan Diehl, a pioneering aviatrix, and the mother of their only child,
H. J. Heinz III. They established their home at Rosemont Farm in the Fox Chapel suburb of
Pittsburgh. While Jack was active in the business world, Joan was an industrial designer and a
fine artist. They divorced in 1942, shortly after Jack became president of the company following
the death of his father.
His task to lead the company at a time of war was a daunting one. He made five trips to England
during the war once when the company’s Harlesden plant was bombed and on several occasions at the
request of the British government. He was tapped to assist England with its food shortages and
also toured the Netherlands to assist that nation with food aid. Like his father after World War I,
Jack was instrumental in assuaging the dire food situation in war-ravaged Europe.
The company under his leadership actively participated in the war effort. The main plant
in Pittsburgh was retooled for a time to manufacture glider planes for the Department of the
Army and, overseas, the Harlesden plant developed innovative strategies to utilize what food was
available in England to its best advantage.
As a civic leader, Jack served as chairman of the United War Fund and routinely gave speeches
with the themes of food conservation, rationing and food allocations. After the war, he served
as chairman of the Community Chest, which later became the United Way, criscrossing the country,
encouraging people to give and give generously.
But Jack Heinz was not just the president of an ever-growing company. He was an avid skier and
an art collector, he traveled extensively all over the world and he was a thoughtful and dedicated
philanthropist. In 1953, he married Drue Maher, who shared these interests and also had her own areas
in which she worked, often acting as a theatrical angel. The arts in general, and literature and
writers in particular, received great attention. She founded Ecco Press in 1971 and the Drue
Heinz Literature Prize in Short Fiction, which is awarded annually by the University of Pittsburgh
Press. It was as a philanthropist that Jack Heinz would make significant contributions to the city
of Pittsburgh. Following the war, he teamed up with Richard King Mellon and Mayor David Lawrence
for Renaissance I—a plan to revitalize Pittsburgh and its image from old 19th-century ways to
modernity. Smoke-control ordinances went into effect, ending years of pitch blackness at noon
caused by soot and smoke from the steel mills.
Through his chairmanship of the Howard Heinz Endowment, Jack Heinz undertook the rebirth of the
Lowe’s Penn Theater, originally a movie theater. He worked to convert it to a home for the
Pittsburgh Symphony. The building, known now as Heinz Hall, has served as a model for urban
redevelopment.
Despite advancing years and encroaching illness, Jack continued his dynamic leadership at the
H. J. Heinz Company. Among the more notable achievements was the development of a baby food
factory in mainland China. He was personally on hand for the opening, where the Chinese, who have
a respect for lineage, were pleased to see that there was actually a Heinz behind the Heinz Company name.
In 1987, Jack Heinz succumbed to cancer, passing the reins of the company outside the family
for the first time and the leadership of the family’s philanthropy to his son, H. John Heinz III.
Drue Heinz continues her philanthropy in the United States and Europe. Recently, she underwrote
part of a major renovation of the National Portrait Gallery in London and was instrumental in
the establishment of the Drue Heinz Study Center at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Center.
The youngest of H. J. Heinz’s sons was born in 1883 and grew up in the shadow of three older
siblings. In 1905, he entered Lafayette and eventually moved to a career with the H. J. Heinz Company’s
Pittsburgh works. He married Vira Ingham of Pittsburgh in 1932 and died a scant three years later
in Palm Springs.
Vira would never remarry, but she would embark on a career of philanthropy that would go on for
more than four decades. She worked in the homefront war effort during World War II and went on
to participate in the founding of the Civic Light Opera, serve on the boards of the Pittsburgh Opera
and Symphony Society and become the first woman trustee of Carnegie Mellon University.
Her devotion to Pittsburgh and the region she called home continued even after her death in 1983.
As part of her will, she established the Vira I. Heinz Endowment, which continues her generous work
in giving back to Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

History of Heinz – KraftHeinz FoodService
1844
Company Founder
The history of Heinz began with one person. Henry John Heinz – the future founder of the company and the inventor of the legendary ketchup recipe – was born in the fall of 1844 near Pittsburgh. From early childhood, the boy began to help his mother by working in the family garden. From the age of 15, he was already cultivating his own small plot, and from the grown vegetables, Henry’s mother taught him how to make pickles and marinades according to traditional family recipes.
Henry Heinz’s favorite motto is “Do ordinary things extraordinarily well, and this is the key to success.” And, judging by the recognition that both he and his world-famous ketchup received, Henry Heinz turned out to be absolutely right.
“Do ordinary things extraordinarily well, and this is the key to success”
1869
Transparent jar as a sign of trust
In 1869, Henry John Heinz, together with his friend Clarence Nobel, created a company for the production of vegetable preparations. Their first product was grated horseradish according to Henry’s mother’s recipe. But not only the recipe of the product won the hearts of consumers. The partners took an innovative step for their time – Heinz & Noble vegetable preparations were packed in transparent glass bottles, which made it possible for customers to see the product they were purchasing. The vegetable preparations of young entrepreneurs were liked by people, and the company quickly gained momentum. “You should only offer customers what you would buy yourself,” said Henry John. “Personally, that’s what I do.”
“You should only offer customers what you would buy yourself,” said Henry John. “Personally, I do that”
1876
The same “Heinz” ketchup
1876 is considered the year of creation of the legendary Heinz ketchup. It cannot be said that Henry Heinz had the idea of inventing the original tomato sauce. But it was this person who achieved an excellent combination of taste and aroma of the ingredients included in ketchup, and then was able to competently serve it to consumers. The secret of the taste of Heinz ketchup is in ripe tomatoes and natural ingredients. The company still follows this tradition, making ketchup without the addition of any artificial colors, preservatives and GMOs. Henry Heinz was very proud of his ketchup, which he lovingly grew from selected tomatoes. We continue his work, and years later, the branded glass bottle “Heinz” remains the invariable mark of quality for the whole world.
The secret of Heinz ketchup taste is in ripe tomatoes and natural ingredients.
1886
“Our market is the whole world”
In 1886, Henry Heinz, taking samples of products with him, went to London to meet the purchasing manager of the Fortnum Mason department store, a supplier to the British royal court. Henry was very pleased with the results of the meeting. England became the first foreign market for Henry Heinz products. Ten years later, sales there had grown so much that Heinz opened an office in London near the Tower, and in 1905 built a factory in the British city of Peckham. Thus began the victorious march of Heinz ketchup around the world.
England became the first foreign market for Henry Heinz products.
1906
Food Control Act
One of the main beliefs of Henry Heinz concerned the main principle of the production of his products: “the best preservative is purity.” That is why his enterprises continued to operate successfully after 19In 06, Roosevelt passed a new law on the control of food production, and many unscrupulous factories were closed.
Moreover, the widely publicized campaign “for the cleanliness of the rows” led to the fact that only the word “Heinz” was henceforth associated in the minds of housewives with naturalness, quality and safety.
“Cleanliness is the best preservative” is the guiding principle behind the production of Heinz products.
1936
“Grown, not just produced”
Heinz ketchup is made from 100% natural ingredients of the highest quality. However, the main ingredient that determines the unique and recognizable taste of Heinz ketchup is a special variety of tomatoes, thanks to which the ketchup is so thick and tasty.
Since 1936, a special division of Heinz Seed has been breeding tomato seeds. Traditional breeding helps to naturally concentrate in tomatoes the characteristics necessary for ketchup: the pulp of the fruit is very fleshy with a low moisture content, which provides Heinz ketchup with the necessary thickness without the addition of starch and other thickeners. In fact, today the production of Heinz ketchup begins with seeds. Thus, the motto “Grown, not just produced” is not a metaphor, but the very reality.

Formation of moral and ethical guidelines by means of additional education of artistic orientation
Currently, in the era of geostrategic upheavals, social, technological, cultural and ethical changes, the system of values is being modified. The loss of values is becoming a global problem. The very existence of world civilization depends on the humanitarian culture of the individual as a backbone element of society. An important role in the formation of a new image of a person who is able to reproduce and increase the content of humanitarian culture belongs to the education system. In the concept of the development of additional education, the personalization of additional education is defined as the leading trend in the development of education in the 21st century. At the present stage of development of additional education, the process of formation of moral and ethical qualities in students is of particular relevance. The mechanism for transferring the rules of etiquette from generation to generation is a custom, rite, ritual. The moral and ethical culture of our people is rich and has specific features and characteristics. It is no coincidence that 2022 in the Russian Federation has been declared the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. High spirituality permeated the traditions of both Russian and other peoples, introducing students to the system of images, language, forms of festive life, one of which was the celebration of name days.
The birthday remained unnoticed, many even forgot about it, but the day of the Angel, or name day, was celebrated by everyone who could afford it.
Birthdays in Russia began to be celebrated in the 19th century only by nobles and wealthy merchants. And only since the 20th century, the tradition has spread among the people. In the modern world, the name day and the day of the angel gradually began to lose their common features. Birthday today is a celebration that unites children and adults. Surprises, sweet and creative gifts, fun games are expected from the holiday. In order for the holiday to be exciting and unforgettable, adults show creativity and ingenuity.
Who, if not teachers of additional education, is characterized by creativity and ingenuity, curiosity and emotionality, so we continued our acquaintance with the values of traditional culture and turned to the favorite genre of children and adults – a fairy tale, or rather, a Dagestan fairy tale. Dagestan fairy tales are works of high culture of folk thinking, the richest source of folk wisdom and talent. In folk culture, national rituals, songs, dances, intertwined into one “rainbow”, retain their originality, originality and originality, and at the same time become even brighter.
The question arose before children and adults: what can two different creative associations have in common? how to make simple performances become a link in the concert program; so that parents and children feel and realize the significance of their activities; and absolutely “aerobatics” – they were proud of what they do! So, we turned to a fairy tale, or rather, we watched the 1959 Soviet cartoon “Birthday”, directed by Valentina and Zinaida Brumberg. In one Dagestan village, watching his grandfather write down a lamb born in the house book, the little boy Murat was surprised not to find himself in this book. It turns out that it has been customary since ancient times that a person’s birthday is not considered the day when he is born powerless, like a lamb, but the day when he deserves his birth. The connecting link that united the anniversaries of two creative associations – the Workshop of the master of ceremonies and the artistic word “Applause” and the association of folk singing “Romashka” was found. Students of the associations “proved” to the audience that they deserved their birth, told about signs and how birthdays are celebrated in different countries. One of the signs is that congratulations sound on this holiday, which attract good luck for the whole year!
The novelty of such an integrated approach is manifested in the unification of the capabilities of two creative groups – folk singing and an association for the study of entertainer through the celebration of the birthday of the groups. An important fact is that our experience served as a stimulus for uniting – a community of teachers, children and parents, of various orientations.
Even 100 years ago, folk traditions and customs were passed down from generation to generation. Today, they are partially lost, and, accordingly, many spiritual landmarks have been lost. Without a careful attitude to traditions, the younger generation will not be able to preserve and, moreover, pass on the experience of the past to future generations. Therefore, the organization of such events loved by children as birthdays is relevant, especially for the formation of moral and ethical guidelines and cultural traditions. Children emotionally and with lively interest get acquainted with the traditions and signs of different peoples.
Concert activity is a powerful stimulus for the development and improvement of the child’s skills, which allows self-determination, self-assertion in the world of hobbies. This is the main pedagogical meaning – one can develop only in a creative atmosphere and environment, and a holiday is a platform for the emergence of an emotional upsurge, enthusiasm for knowledge, a sense of inspiration and the formation of general cultural value orientations. Children with great pleasure reveal their abilities and talents, especially to their parents and close relatives.
The pedagogical expediency of holding such events is in the transfer of knowledge and skills of traditional culture to children. On the basis of tradition, not only is the entire experience of practical activity consolidated, but also the norms of social relations (family, community, labor, gender and age), the entire way of life are regulated. Therefore, the priority task is to carefully preserve and develop the traditions of both the Russian and other peoples. The holiday united children and adults, motivated all participants in the educational process to make creativity a necessity. After all, now, more than ever, Russia needs active, creative people!
One of the main goals of the events is to help teachers, educators in creating conditions for the spiritual and moral education of children by means of traditional culture. The organization and holding of events of such a plan is based on the principles:
– collective creativity and living continuity;
– equal opportunities – the law of equality of all participants;
– moral priorities – the subordination of all activities to the values of traditional culture;
– the relationship of various types of art.
The success of any event depends on how accurately it is thought out and planned. Preliminary work is very important – at the invitation of parents, teachers, class teachers, social partners; creation of posters, logos; selection of works for the exhibition of arts and crafts. Attracting fellow artists to decorate the stage, parents can be the initiators of creating gifts for the children.
To conduct the event, it is necessary to pay attention to the following methodological recommendations:
– organize the work of the creative team to prepare the holiday;
– to distribute responsibilities for the preparation and holding of the holiday: creating a poster, advertising campaign, preparing numbers, working with social partners (invitation), making gifts (birthday cakes), working with the media, issuing letters of thanks, selecting musical accompaniment;
– the holiday will be a great success if the program is compiled according to the principle of growth: closer to the finale, put on more dynamic, bright numbers, as the audience loves variety and entertainment;
– an end to the work done can be put only after the analysis of the activity has been carried out;
– it is obligatory to place an article about the event on the website of the institution, in the media.
The results of the activity show that purposeful work on raising children through familiarization with traditional folk culture contributes to the creation of a favorable “internal environment” of the individual, making the child’s personality more responsive to pedagogical influence (the emergence of emotional uplift, joy, moral and aesthetic response). The degree of development of the moral and ethical principles of a person characterizes his humane culture. The personal development of students depends on the degree of formation of humanistic culture.
The event is over, and the memory of it motivates both children and adults to do everything to deserve their birth! The duty of the modern teacher is to teach to honor traditions; help children learn the history of their country, broaden their horizons and erudition.
Russia has always surprised and continues to surprise the world with its spirituality, its culture, which has developed a powerful root system over the centuries – folk art! You will say, and what is the novelty of the form of organization of the educational process? What is the inculcation of a high cultural and artistic taste? And where does the improvement of principles? And we want to say in the words of Henry John Heinz: “Doing ordinary things extraordinarily well is the shortest path to success.
