FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Are you a licensed childcare provider?
Yes
-
How is this different than a Club?
Our Club programming is generally offsite at one of our Club locations and only offered after school hours or at other specified times. Childcare is a new service offered before and after school and located at each participating school building. Generally, the Clubs can also offer more financial assistance for those who qualify. Because our Before & After School Childcare services are licensed, we are able to accept childcare subsidies such as Working Child Care Connections (WCCC).
3. Can I do both a Club and Before & After School Childcare? How do I choose?
Most people choose based on the age of their child, their financial situation and other factors unique to your student. We’re happy to talk through options with you.
4. What are the hours of your Childcare?
Our programming usually starts at 7:15 a.m. until the start of school, then after school until 6:00 p.m. Hours vary for partial school days and are communicated in advance. Check with your school to confirm specific hours as it varies between schools.
5. What is provided in your childcare services?
-

-
Academic support
-

Through becoming a wife and mother of three vibrant children, Camber has realized her passion for family, and she is excited to blend her love of children and hospitality with her role as the Family Placement Manager. When Camber is not helping our wonderful families or mentoring our fabulous role models, she is busy perfecting a new recipe, playing hide-and-seek with her kiddos, or out looking for orca whale sightings around Puget Sound. Camber is eager to help others care for and Build Stronger Families within the community.
Krystiana

She has said that it is her goal to provide the best match for each family that she is sending caregivers to and that seeing the bonds that they create, is the best part of the job. Outside of creating connections with caregivers, Krystiana enjoys spending time exploring the different photogenic locations here in the great pacific northwest by taking long road trips with her husband and her three dogs. She has a Can Do attitude and enjoys creating connections with her team.

Washington Child Care Investment Needed to Prevent Child Care Crises
TACOMA, WA – May 27, 2020 – Thousands of licensed Washington childcare facilities report they are at risk of permanent closure due to the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The loss of these high-quality programs would greatly exacerbate a decade-long crisis in childcare in our state, where demand exceeded supply, waiting lists for childcare lasted months and even years, and childcare professionals were appallingly underpaid.
While recent child care grants made possible by federal COVID-19 stimulus funding may help some programs stay afloat during these challenging times, it is becoming increasingly clear that not all child care programs will survive. According to our recent survey of licensed childcare organizations, 41 percent of those surveyed believe they are in danger of permanent closure, largely due to the financial impact of the crisis. Our survey showed that only two percent of the licensed providers who answered our question received federal loans to cope with the consequences of the economic crisis, and only eight percent were able to successfully apply for and win loans under the federal paycheck protection program.
“Washington childcare services have been financially hanging by a thread of proverbial chatter for decades. ” The loss of much of their income from leaving so many children at home, combined with the increased costs of running small childcare businesses during the pandemic, have forced hundreds of children to close their doors temporarily. Those who have stayed open are struggling to work on lower incomes and without personal protective equipment and health insurance,” said Deann Burtch Puffert, CEO of Enterprise Child Care Aware of Washington. “Our The state must recognize the critical role that childcare plays in restarting and sustaining our economy because most parents of young children work. An investment in the childcare industry is an investment in every other industry, because investing in childcare keeps parents working and employers working.”
The Washington Child Care Crisis cost employers in our state $2.08 billion in direct costs in 2017 and $6.5 billion in direct and opportunity costs, according to a 2019 report, Assembly Child Care Expenses from the Washington State Department of Commerce and other organizations that are part of the State Joint Working Group on Child Care. The report also notes that 36 percent of parents in Washington State have left work or school due to lack of access to quality child care.
Child Care Aware The WA Survey of Licensed Child Care Providers found that only 49 providers that responded to the questionnaire applied for and received federal loans under the Economic Injury Protection Program, and only 202 providers that responded to the questionnaire applied for and received federal loans under the Payroll Accident Protection Program. Over 2,500 of the 5,400 licensed providers in Washington responded to our survey. Many programs are currently applying for new grants funded under the federal CARES Act. Our statewide Early Learning Coaches help providers apply.
Child Care Aware of Washington is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to connecting families to local, high quality, licensed child care and early education programs and providing support to high quality care providers. As a nationwide network of six regional agencies, we work side by side with childcare providers to offer continuing education services and postgraduate scholarships to help providers integrate research-based work,
best practices in their programs. We track data on the supply, demand, and cost of childcare services nationwide and in every county. We are committed to ensuring that every child in Washington, regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, culture, primary language, or economic status, has access to the quality early childhood care and education they need to succeed in school and life.
