Child Care | State University Construction Fund

Providing quality care, educational learning centers, and community employment opportunities.

Child care facilities throughout SUNY provide quality care for over 5,000 children at 48 centers across the state. These centers are located at state-operated campuses and at community colleges, and provide a vital service for the campus and community by providing care for children of students, faculty, staff and community members. Of the 5,000 children served, approximately one-third are children of student parents, one-third are children of faculty and staff and one-third are children from the community. SUNY childcare centers allow parents to attend school and work while providing solid foundation of care and education for young children.

Collaboration with the campus community, local school districts, BOCES, United Way, CCR&Rs, Foster Grandparents, and other human service agencies provide a broad range of services for enrolled children and their families and creates a positive relationship with the community.

SUNY childcare centers allow student parents to succeed in school, prepare students for teaching and other professions and build a strong foundation for New York’s future workforce. SUNY childcare centers also provide sites for student interns and placements for work-study students in the fields of child development, education, nursing, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy and many others.

Finally, SUNY childcare centers contribute to economic development by providing employment opportunities for over 1,200 people. Investments in early care and education have an immediate and multiplying economic effect through spending on facilities, supplies and personnel. Early care and education professionals generally spend most of their earnings locally, realizing roughly $2 in local spending for each federal child care dollar spent.

SUNY Potsdam

The SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center, Inc. is a fully licensed child care facility serving children of SUNY Potsdam faculty, staff and students in addition to the surrounding community.

The Center also provides education experience for SUNY students, offering part-time opportunities for students to gain child development and teaching experience. Along with classrooms, gymnasium area, and 2 outdoor playgrounds, the center also boasts an on-site kitchen. Enrollment is on a space-available basis with priority given to SUNY Potsdam students, faculty, and staff.

SUNY Delhi

The Delhi Campus Child Care Center, Inc. (DC4) is a not-for-profit corporation licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Center is located on lower Delhi campus just past the College Farm.

DC4 was established to serve the childcare needs of SUNY Delhi students, staff and faculty, as well as New York State employees. The state-of-the-art facility was completed in the spring of 2012 and includes: 5 classrooms, 4 large playgrounds, kitchen, large indoor gym, library, and parent resource area. In 2012, DC4 began collaborating with Delaware County ARC Carousel Children’s Program. Both preschool classrooms are integrated with special needs children from the Carousel program.

SUNY Oneonta

Bugbee Children’s Center offers a unique early care and educational experience to the children and families of SUNY Oneonta and the greater Oneonta community. The Center is located in Bugbee Hall on State Street in beautiful Oneonta.

Features of this building include the full-sized gymnasium located on the second floor, 4 playgrounds, an auditorium with a stage, a full-sized institutional kitchen, and classrooms. In 2019, SUNY Oneonta completed a renovation that added brand new sprinkler system, bathrooms, cabinetry in all classrooms along with upgrades to the lights, plumbing, heating, and fire alarm system.

I want to express my sincere appreciation for what a wonderful job Isabel does taking care of Justin and Lauren. I toured numerous daycare centers prior to hers, and I was so pleased to find Isabel, even thoughI was hesitant to leave Justin with anyone! But I have thanked my lucky stars every day that we found her, and she has truly become a part of our family, my kids feel like they have a big extended family they spend their days with. Thank you for creating such a warm, friendly, and fun atmosphere for the them. It is truly a blessing to be able to leave my children in her care, knowing they are enjoying there time and well taken care of. Thank you for making such an incredible effort everyday!…

Pros:
This is a nice clean facility.
There are very nice teachers/daycare workers that treat kids like they are their own.
They plan fun activities and have fun little field trips. (Zoo, parks, pumpkin patch, etc.)
Cons:
-I wish there were not TV’s in every room and that the TV was not on all the time, I believe state regulations are 5 hours or less a week now and it seems to be on more than that.
-It would be nice to get a paper or some sort of update at the end of each day so I know what my children are doing. Did my children nap, what are they learning about, did they eat their meals, use the bathroom/how many diaper changes, etc. I know it may take some time to track but a few other facilities do this and it is a nice touch. I always try to ask these things but sometimes it is hard to get all the answers, especially with morning vs afternoon teachers and it is hard to keep the teacher from the kids at pickup to talk and get all the information.
I would recommend this place for sure as it seems like a nice and safe environment but there are just a few areas for improvement….

Description:

Hi! My name is Charlie Day! I started a in home daycare to be home with my son and also to provide a safe and affordable place for those who need their little ones cared for while they are at work. I lovechildren and have had a wonderful time teaching children new things and having fun together. I am looking to add 3-4 children 6 weeks + full or part time.
I offer: a clean, safe, and caring environment, healthy meals/snacks, daily learning time (geared towards your child’s specific age/needs), an awesome playroom filled with toys, books, puzzles, and games for playtime and learning/sensory experiences, a big swing set/playhouse, bikes, and sports equipment for lots of outdoor fun, limited (supervised) television time, and lots of quality time with each child.
I am CPR certified and am a certified nurse assistant with 8 years of medical pediatric experience. I have 12+ years experience with children of all ages. I’ve worked as a nanny, a babysitter, a private tutor and a medical assistant in a pediatric. I genuinely love children and have a 4-month-old of my own named Benning.
I have a private blog for the daycare and update it with photos and information a couple of times a week. I recently added a private instagram account (I post between 5–20 pics a day) as well. The parents I work with love both. I have only a small group of children at once, which means that your child will have plenty of one-on-one attention and care throughout the day.

9 grandma’s advice on caring for children that doctors ask you to forget about / AdMe

Researchers say that most modern grandparents do not update their knowledge of how to properly care for children during their lives. Guided solely by personal experience, the older generation often gives young parents recommendations that have long been recognized as outdated. And many of them are not safe.

At ADME , we have studied parenting forums and articles from practicing pediatricians to understand what irrelevant advice and statements most often hear moms and dads of newborns.

1. Without swaddling, the baby will be clubfoot

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

It used to be that it was necessary to swaddle newborns, because it helps to keep the baby’s legs in a straight position. Allegedly, without this, the bones will not be straight and the child will grow up with a clubfoot.

But pediatricians insist: swaddling not only does not straighten the legs, but also threatens with violations in the development of the hips. Wrapping children in cloth is only to calm them down. Most of all, such measures are necessary for restless babies, children with neurological disorders or severe colic. However, if the baby sleeps well and does not feel restless without a diaper, it is not necessary to wrap him up.

2. In a house where there is a baby, it should be as warm as possible

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

Actually not. Overheating is just as dangerous for a baby as hypothermia. Patronage nurses recommend keeping the temperature in the children’s room at 16–20 °C.

Seeing this figure, your baby’s grandmother will probably throw up her hands with the verdict: “They will freeze the child.” But, according to doctors, at this temperature, the child’s sleep improves. In addition, in the coolness, the nasal mucosa does not dry out and it is more comfortable for the baby to breathe.

3. Dip a nipple in something sweet to soothe a baby

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

Many grandmothers recommend dipping a nipple in something sweet to soothe a crying baby. In some countries, honey is advised, in others – peanut butter and condensed milk. But pediatricians are categorically against such methods.

The listed products are very allergenic, and you can never know in advance how the body of a newborn will react to such additives. In addition, if the child has already started teething, sugar can cause tooth decay. And honey can also cause botulism.

Well, of course, in principle, giving a baby a pacifier has its pros and cons, so in this matter it is advisable not to deviate from the recommendations of pediatricians.

4. A baby’s bed must have a blanket and a pillow

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

In the past, most mothers approached organizing a bed for a child in the same way as if they were creating a small copy of their bed. The wooden crib always had a miniature pillow and a tiny blanket.

However, pediatricians remind again and again: there should be nothing in the baby’s crib except a mattress and sheets – no pillows, no blankets, no toys, as all this increases the possibility of accidental asphyxia. If the room is too cold, it is better to dress the baby in warm pajamas, but do not cover him with a blanket.

5. The baby should sleep on his stomach

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

At first glance, the advice seems quite logical: put the baby on his stomach so that he does not choke when he burps. But doctors have established that sleeping on the stomach is even more dangerous for babies than on the back, because:

  • this position can cause airway obstruction;
  • sleeping on the stomach causes dangerous pressure on the stomach and diaphragm;
  • this posture can lead to overheating.

Therefore, it is better to put the child on his back. But the head can be turned to the side.

6. The child should fall asleep in absolute silence

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

It can be quite difficult for an adult to fall asleep if some noise interferes: water drips from a tap or someone is talking in the room. But for newborns, noise sometimes even helps to sleep. There is only one condition: it must be uniform and not increase from the moment the baby falls asleep.

Newborns can sleep quite peacefully if their mother is talking on the phone nearby or if water is making noise behind the wall. Sometimes children even turn on “white noise” on purpose, because, firstly, they fall asleep faster under this monotonous buzz, and secondly, falling asleep at the noise, they will not wake up if you suddenly decide to vacuum in the hallway or wash the dishes in the kitchen.

7. You need to feed your baby according to the schedule

© Depositphotos, © Depositphotos

Not only grandmothers, but also some doctors recommend feeding newborns strictly according to the schedule. However, in reality, this approach to feeding exhausts the nerves of both mother and child. In addition, pediatricians do not see anything wrong with feeding the baby not by the clock, but on demand – not a single doctor will advise keeping the child hungry.

However, this does not apply to milk formulas, which are released immediately with the feeding schedule.

8. Complementary foods should be introduced as early as possible

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

porridge. But doctors would not give such advice.

Breastfed babies should definitely not be introduced to complementary foods at such an early age. According to WHO recommendations, the baby’s menu should be changed no earlier than he reaches the age of 6 months.

9. Animal milk is better than formula

©Depositphotos, ©Depositphotos

It seems that every family has a story about how a young mother once ran out of breast milk and a young father rushed to the village at a distance lands to buy fresh milk from an old woman who kept her cow or goat. Moreover, this is usually presented as a feat: after all, parents saved their children in this way from feeding on milk formula, which supposedly contains only chemistry.

But doctors see this not as a feat in the name of salvation, but simply another way to endanger the health of the newborn. After all, a balanced milk formula is great for feeding children who are not breastfed.

But animal milk is dangerous for several reasons:

  • It contains many minerals that the kidneys of a newborn cannot cope with.
  • In this case, there is not enough iron, which can result in iron deficiency anemia. Vitamin C is also lacking.
  • Proteins in animal milk can irritate the intestinal mucosa.
  • Animal milk may be allergic.
  • And besides, due to the unbalanced composition, such milk can accelerate the child’s weight gain.

Therefore, you can give your baby milk no earlier than he reaches the age of 1 year.

Despite the fact that the older generation is mistaken in some way, we should not forget that our grandmothers are a storehouse of useful information, invaluable experience and support.

John Heinz: A Western Pennsylvania Legacy

H. J. and Sarah Heinz
Howard and Elizabeth Rust Heinz
H. J. “Jack” Heinz II and Joan Diehl
Clifford and Vira Heinz

H. J. Heinz was born in 1844 in the Birmingham section of Pittsburgh, the son of Anna
Margaretha and John Henry Heinz. His father ran a brickyard in Sharpsburg; part of
that property was used as a household garden by his mother.

At the age of 14, Henry was already tending his own section of the garden and was developing
a list of customers. He attended Duff’s Mercantile College and thoroughly familiarized
himself with good, sound business practices. Soon, he began peddling prepared horseradish.

By 1869, Heinz was ready to formalize his business and did so by entering a partnership
with L. Clarence Noble and forming Heinz & Noble. Their first product was, of course,
horseradish, sold in clear bottles to prove that, unlike some foods, it was totally unadulterated.
In the same year, he married Sarah Sloan Young, known as Sallie, who was a first-generation
American, her family hailing from County Down, Ireland, where they owned a mill. Together they
had four children: Irene, Howard, Clarence and Clifford.

Disaster struck in 1875. Tight money, a national financial panic and the purchase of
huge stocks of cucumbers and cabbage led to the bankruptcy of the young company. Despite
seemingly impossible odds, Henry regrouped and forged ahead with the emotional and modest
financial support of Sarah. He vowed to repay every debt, which he considered moral
obligations, and did just that. By February 1876, he joined his brother John and cousin
Frederick and launched the F. & J. Heinz Company.

By 1888, Heinz bought out his partners, established a relationship with retailers
in England and embarked on construction of a factory on the Allegheny River that would
embody the best of his business acumen and his Christian principles. His benevolent management
style made the H. J. Heinz company a pioneer in labor relations. Workers were well
treated and afforded comforts and conveniences including free manicures and rooftop gardens
for both men and women.

In 1894, the greatest tragedy of Henry’s life occurred—the death of his dearly beloved
wife, Sallie. She died from double pneumonia, leaving a broken husband and bereaved children behind.

Despite his profound loss, Heinz worked tirelessly against a large segment of the processed
food industry to gain passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906. It inaugurated the modern
food industry and guaranteed purity to all consumers.

Years of hard work and innovation had made Henry John Heinz and his products internationally
known and respected. In 1919, in the year of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Heinz &
Noble, H. J. Heinz died of pneumonia at his home, Greenlawn, in Pittsburgh. He had instilled a sense
of duty and obligation in his children that would bear fruit for generations to come.

Howard Covode Heinz was born in 1877 to H. J. Heinz and his wife, Sallie. Raised with
an ethic of hard work and community obligation, he worked in the company’s factories
and salting stations around the country as a youth. Howard graduated from Yale in 1900 and
began his executive career.

In 1906, Howard married Elizabeth Granger Rust from Saginaw, Michigan. Elizabeth’s
family, the Rusts, were involved in the lumber business in Michigan. As a young woman,
she attended the fashionable Ogontz School for Young Ladies near Philadelphia, and she was an avid bridge
player. In 1908, their son H. J. “Jack” Heinz II was born, followed in 1913 by another son
named Rust.

During Howard’s tenure as president of the Heinz Company, World War I broke out and he
would come to have a role in the aftermath of the hostilities. Beginning in 1917, Howard
served as United States Food Administrator for Pennsylvania. At the end of the war, in
December 1918, Herbert Hoover, director of food relief, cabled Howard and asked him to serve
as Director-General of American Relief Administration for Southeast Europe and Asia Minor.
Howard willingly accepted and departed for Constantinople, where he would remain until his
father’s death in May of 1919 called him home. During his time away, Elizabeth, or “Betty,” as
Howard called her, wrote frequently and was very supportive.

The decades of the 1920s and 1930s saw Howard at the top of his game. The ’20s saw expansions
to thousands of acres, 69 branch offices and nearly 1400 salesmen. Howard controlled the
finances and traveled extensively to oversee this vast international empire.

With the onset of the Great Depression, Howard’s exceptional business skills, exercised during
the ’20s, paid off. The company had no debt and was actually able to expand its markets and
its workforce at a time when other companies were closing their doors. In fact, it was during
this time that son Jack was off to Australia to set up a new factory.

Also during the 1930s, Jack and Rust were completing their educations and beginning their
own careers. Jack would apprentice himself at the company, and Rust began designing automobiles
in Pasadena, California. He designed the Comet, a delivery vehicle for the Heinz Company, and
the Phantom Corsair, a futuristic vehicle with the ultimate in safety features. The car was
even featured in the movie The Young in Heart with Paulette Goddard and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
Ironically, there was only ever one Corsair made, as Rust lost his life in an automobile
accident in July of 1939.

As the 1940s approached, war loomed on the horizon for Europe and tragedy again befell
the Heinz family. This time, it would have to be H. J. Heinz II who would see the company through.
Howard died in early 1941 after suffering a stroke following a medical procedure in Philadelphia.
With his will, the Howard Heinz Endowment was established.

Elizabeth Heinz continued to live in their Morewood Heights home in Pittsburgh until her
death in 1952.

Born in 1908, Jack Heinz would live to see two world wars, the Great Depression, the vast
international expansion of the Heinz Company and a renaissance in the city of Pittsburgh.

He was educated at Choate, Yale and Cambridge, but, like his father before him, he worked
summers in the pickling and salting stations for the company. He then joined the sales force
in England and grew to have a happy and profitable association with the UK.

In 1935, Jack married Joan Diehl, a pioneering aviatrix, and the mother of their only child,
H. J. Heinz III. They established their home at Rosemont Farm in the Fox Chapel suburb of
Pittsburgh. While Jack was active in the business world, Joan was an industrial designer and a
fine artist. They divorced in 1942, shortly after Jack became president of the company following
the death of his father.

His task to lead the company at a time of war was a daunting one. He made five trips to England
during the war once when the company’s Harlesden plant was bombed and on several occasions at the
request of the British government. He was tapped to assist England with its food shortages and
also toured the Netherlands to assist that nation with food aid. Like his father after World War I,
Jack was instrumental in assuaging the dire food situation in war-ravaged Europe.

The company under his leadership actively participated in the war effort. The main plant
in Pittsburgh was retooled for a time to manufacture glider planes for the Department of the
Army and, overseas, the Harlesden plant developed innovative strategies to utilize what food was
available in England to its best advantage.

As a civic leader, Jack served as chairman of the United War Fund and routinely gave speeches
with the themes of food conservation, rationing and food allocations. After the war, he served
as chairman of the Community Chest, which later became the United Way, criscrossing the country,
encouraging people to give and give generously.

But Jack Heinz was not just the president of an ever-growing company. He was an avid skier and
an art collector, he traveled extensively all over the world and he was a thoughtful and dedicated
philanthropist. In 1953, he married Drue Maher, who shared these interests and also had her own areas
in which she worked, often acting as a theatrical angel. The arts in general, and literature and
writers in particular, received great attention. She founded Ecco Press in 1971 and the Drue
Heinz Literature Prize in Short Fiction, which is awarded annually by the University of Pittsburgh
Press. It was as a philanthropist that Jack Heinz would make significant contributions to the city
of Pittsburgh. Following the war, he teamed up with Richard King Mellon and Mayor David Lawrence
for Renaissance I—a plan to revitalize Pittsburgh and its image from old 19th-century ways to
modernity. Smoke-control ordinances went into effect, ending years of pitch blackness at noon
caused by soot and smoke from the steel mills.

Through his chairmanship of the Howard Heinz Endowment, Jack Heinz undertook the rebirth of the
Lowe’s Penn Theater, originally a movie theater. He worked to convert it to a home for the
Pittsburgh Symphony. The building, known now as Heinz Hall, has served as a model for urban
redevelopment.

Despite advancing years and encroaching illness, Jack continued his dynamic leadership at the
H. J. Heinz Company. Among the more notable achievements was the development of a baby food
factory in mainland China. He was personally on hand for the opening, where the Chinese, who have
a respect for lineage, were pleased to see that there was actually a Heinz behind the Heinz Company name.

In 1987, Jack Heinz succumbed to cancer, passing the reins of the company outside the family
for the first time and the leadership of the family’s philanthropy to his son, H. John Heinz III.

Drue Heinz continues her philanthropy in the United States and Europe. Recently, she underwrote
part of a major renovation of the National Portrait Gallery in London and was instrumental in
the establishment of the Drue Heinz Study Center at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Center.

The youngest of H. J. Heinz’s sons was born in 1883 and grew up in the shadow of three older
siblings. In 1905, he entered Lafayette and eventually moved to a career with the H. J. Heinz Company’s
Pittsburgh works. He married Vira Ingham of Pittsburgh in 1932 and died a scant three years later
in Palm Springs.

Vira would never remarry, but she would embark on a career of philanthropy that would go on for
more than four decades. She worked in the homefront war effort during World War II and went on
to participate in the founding of the Civic Light Opera, serve on the boards of the Pittsburgh Opera
and Symphony Society and become the first woman trustee of Carnegie Mellon University.

Her devotion to Pittsburgh and the region she called home continued even after her death in 1983.
As part of her will, she established the Vira I. Heinz Endowment, which continues her generous work
in giving back to Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

History of Heinz – KraftHeinz FoodService

1844

Company Founder

The history of Heinz began with one person. Henry John Heinz – the future founder of the company and the inventor of the legendary ketchup recipe – was born in the fall of 1844 near Pittsburgh. From early childhood, the boy began to help his mother by working in the family garden. From the age of 15, he was already cultivating his own small plot, and from the grown vegetables, Henry’s mother taught him how to make pickles and marinades according to traditional family recipes.

Henry Heinz’s favorite motto is “Do ordinary things extraordinarily well, and this is the key to success.” And, judging by the recognition that both he and his world-famous ketchup received, Henry Heinz turned out to be absolutely right.

“Do ordinary things extraordinarily well, and this is the key to success”

1869

Transparent jar as a sign of trust

In 1869, Henry John Heinz, together with his friend Clarence Nobel, created a company for the production of vegetable preparations. Their first product was grated horseradish according to Henry’s mother’s recipe. But not only the recipe of the product won the hearts of consumers. The partners took an innovative step for their time – Heinz & Noble vegetable preparations were packed in transparent glass bottles, which made it possible for customers to see the product they were purchasing. The vegetable preparations of young entrepreneurs were liked by people, and the company quickly gained momentum. “You should only offer customers what you would buy yourself,” said Henry John. “Personally, that’s what I do.”

1876

The same “Heinz” ketchup

1876 is considered the year of creation of the legendary Heinz ketchup. It cannot be said that Henry Heinz had the idea of inventing the original tomato sauce. But it was this person who achieved an excellent combination of taste and aroma of the ingredients included in ketchup, and then was able to competently serve it to consumers. The secret of the taste of Heinz ketchup is in ripe tomatoes and natural ingredients. The company still follows this tradition, making ketchup without the addition of any artificial colors, preservatives and GMOs. Henry Heinz was very proud of his ketchup, which he lovingly grew from selected tomatoes. We continue his work, and years later, the branded glass bottle “Heinz” remains the invariable mark of quality for the whole world.

1886

“Our market is the whole world”

In 1886, Henry Heinz, taking samples of products with him, went to London to meet the purchasing manager of the Fortnum Mason department store, a supplier to the British royal court. Henry was very pleased with the results of the meeting. England became the first foreign market for Henry Heinz products. Ten years later, sales there had grown so much that Heinz opened an office in London near the Tower, and in 1905 built a factory in the British city of Peckham. Thus began the victorious march of Heinz ketchup around the world.

England became the first foreign market for Henry Heinz products.

1906

Food Control Act

One of the main beliefs of Henry Heinz concerned the main principle of the production of his products: “the best preservative is purity.” That is why his enterprises continued to operate successfully after 19In 06, Roosevelt passed a new law on the control of food production, and many unscrupulous factories were closed.

Moreover, the widely publicized campaign “for the cleanliness of the rows” led to the fact that only the word “Heinz” was henceforth associated in the minds of housewives with naturalness, quality and safety.

“Cleanliness is the best preservative” is the guiding principle behind the production of Heinz products.

1936

“Grown, not just produced”

Heinz ketchup is made from 100% natural ingredients of the highest quality. However, the main ingredient that determines the unique and recognizable taste of Heinz ketchup is a special variety of tomatoes, thanks to which the ketchup is so thick and tasty.

Since 1936, a special division of Heinz Seed has been breeding tomato seeds. Traditional breeding helps to naturally concentrate in tomatoes the characteristics necessary for ketchup: the pulp of the fruit is very fleshy with a low moisture content, which provides Heinz ketchup with the necessary thickness without the addition of starch and other thickeners. In fact, today the production of Heinz ketchup begins with seeds. Thus, the motto “Grown, not just produced” is not a metaphor, but the very reality.

2013

Biggest deal in history

In 2013, the Brazilian investment fund 3G Capital, together with the Berkshire Hahaway fund, owned by the famous billionaire Warren Buffett, announced their intention to acquire Heinz. The Heinz Board of Directors unanimously approved the proposed terms, and the deal, valued at $28 billion, became one of the largest in the history of the food industry. “Heinz has strong growth potential given the company’s high product quality standards, continued innovation, excellent management and the great taste of its products,” said Buffett, 82, who heads Berkshire Hathaway.

2014

145 years of success

In 2014, Heinz celebrated its 145th anniversary. Over the years, the famous “Heinz” ketchup has won the hearts of millions of people, for whom the name “Heinz” has become synonymous with the word “ketchup”. In more than 50 countries around the world, our ketchup occupies a leading position in the ketchup market.

In addition to the legendary ketchup, today Heinz offers a wide range of high quality food products, among which the main ones are: sauces, mayonnaises, canned vegetables, ready meals and baby food.

In more than 50 countries around the world, our ketchup is a leader in the ketchup market.

2015

Global merger

2015 was the year of the birth of the new KraftHeinz Company, created as a result of the merger of two of the most famous companies in the food industry: Kraft Foods and Heinz.

As a result, a powerful international group has been created that combines the best talents and brands of the two companies. With beloved brands such as Kraft, Heinz, Oscar Mayer, Ore-Ida and Philadelphia, KraftHeinz is now the fifth largest food company in the world.

In Russia, the first acquisition of the new company was the Ivanovo Baby Food Plant (Ivanovo), which specializes in the production of baby food products under the Umnitsa and Sami s Usami trademarks.

Formation of moral and ethical guidelines by means of additional education of artistic orientation

Currently, in the era of geostrategic upheavals, social, technological, cultural and ethical changes, the system of values is being modified. The loss of values is becoming a global problem. The very existence of world civilization depends on the humanitarian culture of the individual as a backbone element of society. An important role in the formation of a new image of a person who is able to reproduce and increase the content of humanitarian culture belongs to the education system. In the concept of the development of additional education, the personalization of additional education is defined as the leading trend in the development of education in the 21st century. At the present stage of development of additional education, the process of formation of moral and ethical qualities in students is of particular relevance. The mechanism for transferring the rules of etiquette from generation to generation is a custom, rite, ritual. The moral and ethical culture of our people is rich and has specific features and characteristics. It is no coincidence that 2022 in the Russian Federation has been declared the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. High spirituality permeated the traditions of both Russian and other peoples, introducing students to the system of images, language, forms of festive life, one of which was the celebration of name days.

The birthday remained unnoticed, many even forgot about it, but the day of the Angel, or name day, was celebrated by everyone who could afford it.

Birthdays in Russia began to be celebrated in the 19th century only by nobles and wealthy merchants. And only since the 20th century, the tradition has spread among the people. In the modern world, the name day and the day of the angel gradually began to lose their common features. Birthday today is a celebration that unites children and adults. Surprises, sweet and creative gifts, fun games are expected from the holiday. In order for the holiday to be exciting and unforgettable, adults show creativity and ingenuity.

Who, if not teachers of additional education, is characterized by creativity and ingenuity, curiosity and emotionality, so we continued our acquaintance with the values of traditional culture and turned to the favorite genre of children and adults – a fairy tale, or rather, a Dagestan fairy tale. Dagestan fairy tales are works of high culture of folk thinking, the richest source of folk wisdom and talent. In folk culture, national rituals, songs, dances, intertwined into one “rainbow”, retain their originality, originality and originality, and at the same time become even brighter.

The question arose before children and adults: what can two different creative associations have in common? how to make simple performances become a link in the concert program; so that parents and children feel and realize the significance of their activities; and absolutely “aerobatics” – they were proud of what they do! So, we turned to a fairy tale, or rather, we watched the 1959 Soviet cartoon “Birthday”, directed by Valentina and Zinaida Brumberg. In one Dagestan village, watching his grandfather write down a lamb born in the house book, the little boy Murat was surprised not to find himself in this book. It turns out that it has been customary since ancient times that a person’s birthday is not considered the day when he is born powerless, like a lamb, but the day when he deserves his birth. The connecting link that united the anniversaries of two creative associations – the Workshop of the master of ceremonies and the artistic word “Applause” and the association of folk singing “Romashka” was found. Students of the associations “proved” to the audience that they deserved their birth, told about signs and how birthdays are celebrated in different countries. One of the signs is that congratulations sound on this holiday, which attract good luck for the whole year!

The novelty of such an integrated approach is manifested in the unification of the capabilities of two creative groups – folk singing and an association for the study of entertainer through the celebration of the birthday of the groups. An important fact is that our experience served as a stimulus for uniting – a community of teachers, children and parents, of various orientations.

Even 100 years ago, folk traditions and customs were passed down from generation to generation. Today, they are partially lost, and, accordingly, many spiritual landmarks have been lost. Without a careful attitude to traditions, the younger generation will not be able to preserve and, moreover, pass on the experience of the past to future generations. Therefore, the organization of such events loved by children as birthdays is relevant, especially for the formation of moral and ethical guidelines and cultural traditions. Children emotionally and with lively interest get acquainted with the traditions and signs of different peoples.

Concert activity is a powerful stimulus for the development and improvement of the child’s skills, which allows self-determination, self-assertion in the world of hobbies. This is the main pedagogical meaning – one can develop only in a creative atmosphere and environment, and a holiday is a platform for the emergence of an emotional upsurge, enthusiasm for knowledge, a sense of inspiration and the formation of general cultural value orientations. Children with great pleasure reveal their abilities and talents, especially to their parents and close relatives.

The pedagogical expediency of holding such events is in the transfer of knowledge and skills of traditional culture to children. On the basis of tradition, not only is the entire experience of practical activity consolidated, but also the norms of social relations (family, community, labor, gender and age), the entire way of life are regulated. Therefore, the priority task is to carefully preserve and develop the traditions of both the Russian and other peoples. The holiday united children and adults, motivated all participants in the educational process to make creativity a necessity. After all, now, more than ever, Russia needs active, creative people!

One of the main goals of the events is to help teachers, educators in creating conditions for the spiritual and moral education of children by means of traditional culture. The organization and holding of events of such a plan is based on the principles:

– collective creativity and living continuity;

– equal opportunities – the law of equality of all participants;

– moral priorities – the subordination of all activities to the values of traditional culture;

– the relationship of various types of art.

The success of any event depends on how accurately it is thought out and planned. Preliminary work is very important – at the invitation of parents, teachers, class teachers, social partners; creation of posters, logos; selection of works for the exhibition of arts and crafts. Attracting fellow artists to decorate the stage, parents can be the initiators of creating gifts for the children.

To conduct the event, it is necessary to pay attention to the following methodological recommendations:

– organize the work of the creative team to prepare the holiday;

– to distribute responsibilities for the preparation and holding of the holiday: creating a poster, advertising campaign, preparing numbers, working with social partners (invitation), making gifts (birthday cakes), working with the media, issuing letters of thanks, selecting musical accompaniment;

– the holiday will be a great success if the program is compiled according to the principle of growth: closer to the finale, put on more dynamic, bright numbers, as the audience loves variety and entertainment;

– an end to the work done can be put only after the analysis of the activity has been carried out;

– it is obligatory to place an article about the event on the website of the institution, in the media.

The results of the activity show that purposeful work on raising children through familiarization with traditional folk culture contributes to the creation of a favorable “internal environment” of the individual, making the child’s personality more responsive to pedagogical influence (the emergence of emotional uplift, joy, moral and aesthetic response). The degree of development of the moral and ethical principles of a person characterizes his humane culture. The personal development of students depends on the degree of formation of humanistic culture.

The event is over, and the memory of it motivates both children and adults to do everything to deserve their birth! The duty of the modern teacher is to teach to honor traditions; help children learn the history of their country, broaden their horizons and erudition.

Russia has always surprised and continues to surprise the world with its spirituality, its culture, which has developed a powerful root system over the centuries – folk art! You will say, and what is the novelty of the form of organization of the educational process? What is the inculcation of a high cultural and artistic taste? And where does the improvement of principles? And we want to say in the words of Henry John Heinz: “Doing ordinary things extraordinarily well is the shortest path to success.

“You should only offer customers what you would buy yourself,” said Henry John. “Personally, I do that”

“Grown, not just produced” is not a metaphor, but the very reality.

“Heinz has strong growth potential!” – Considers the 82-year-old Buffett, who heads Berkshire Hahaway.

2015 marked the birth of the new Kraft Heinz Company

– collective creativity and living continuity;

– equal opportunities – the law of equality of all participants;

– moral priorities – the subordination of all activities to the values of traditional culture;

– organize the work of the creative team to prepare the holiday;

– to distribute responsibilities for the preparation and holding of the holiday: creating a poster, advertising campaign, preparing numbers, working with social partners (invitation), making gifts (birthday cakes), working with the media, issuing letters of thanks, selecting musical accompaniment;

– the holiday will be a great success if the program is compiled according to the principle of growth: closer to the finale, put on more dynamic, bright numbers, as the audience loves variety and entertainment;

– an end to the work done can be put only after the analysis of the activity has been carried out;

Basic tips for caring for a newborn “Persona Childhood”

Specially for our readers, a pediatric neonatologist of the highest category, deputy chief physician for pediatrics at the Persona clinic, S. I. Kapustina, told several important rules for caring for newborns.

When caring for a newborn child, one must remember that his skin is very delicate, and various inflammations easily occur on it, and even slight friction can injure the skin.

A baby’s day should start with a morning toilet. First, it is recommended to drip into both nasal passages any preparation of sterile sea water, 1 drop or 1 injection. As you treat the eyes and skin, the contents of the nose will soften and be easier to remove. Eyes are treated with boiled water or freshly brewed tea using a cotton pad. Each eye is wiped with a separate disk from the outer corner to the inner. Face is washed with boiled water. Ears are cleaned with a cotton swab dipped in oil (Vaseline, peach or baby) from the outside only. A stick cannot be inserted into the ear canal, and it does not require cleaning. Nose is cleaned with cotton turundas, which are screwed into the nasal passage and then removed from there. In this case, the head must be held with the free hand, placing it under the back of the head.

After washing the face , all the folds of the body , knee and elbow bends, hands are treated with a cotton pad soaked in oil. Special attention should be paid to the treatment of the external genital organs. In boys, the foreskin is not retracted, and the skin around its opening is treated with oil. In girls, it is necessary to carefully process the fold between the large and small labia. This is also done with a cotton pad with oil.

During the day it is necessary to wash the baby after each stool with running water at a temperature of 37-38 degrees. Before placing your baby under running water, always check the temperature with your hand to prevent burns. For washing, use baby liquid soap. After washing, blot the skin with a diaper or soft towel and apply diaper cream, it will protect the baby’s skin from the irritating effects of urine and feces. You can use wet baby wipes between washes.

Bathing in the evening. Bathe the baby daily before feeding. The water in the bath should be 37-38 degrees (checked with a special thermometer). In the first 2 weeks of life, bathing is carried out in boiled water with the addition of a solution (by no means crystals) of potassium permanganate to a pale pink color of the water. 2-3 times a week when bathing, soap or bathing agent is used and the baby’s head is washed.

The child is immersed slowly in water and the skin and all the folds are washed with a hand or a soft mitt, after which shampoo is taken (no more than 1 tsp) and foamed on the head, then the soap is washed off the head from the jug, water is poured on the forehead (try not to get it on the face, it can scare the baby). In conclusion, the child is raised above the bath and doused from a jug. Gradually, the temperature of the water for dousing may become lower than the water in the bath. After bathing, the umbilical wound is treated with solutions of 3% hydrogen peroxide and an alcohol solution of brilliant green using cotton swabs. Next, skin folds and the nasal cavity are processed as described above.

Quite often, in the first weeks and months of a child’s life, parents are confused and do not understand how best to organize his life. At such moments, a competent, knowledgeable, experienced assistant is very necessary, who will tell you how to overcome the difficulties that have arisen and answer all questions. A pediatrician should become such an assistant, observing the child from the very first days, knowing and loving him.

Therefore, in the children’s department of the Persona clinic, we tried to create the most comfortable conditions for mothers and babies. Before the birth of a child, future parents can get a lot of useful information from experienced doctors and specialists in the Happy Motherhood cycle at the School of Future Parents of the Persona Clinic.

However, a lot of questions arise when the baby is already born. In this situation, the doctors of the children’s department of the clinic “Persona” are always ready to help you. Patronage programs are compiled individually for each little patient. Thanks to this, the pediatrician and other doctors have the opportunity to pay maximum attention to the baby and his parents. The doctor will be constantly in touch with you, so at any time he will be able to answer all your questions related to nutrition, vaccination, treatment, hygiene of the child. An important advantage of patronage is also the fact that all examinations, examinations, vaccinations are carried out at home – in a familiar environment for the child.

The observation schedule for patronage programs fully complies with the state standard , but at the request of the parents, it can be adjusted so that specialists can examine the baby more often. There are several patronage programs that differ in organization and price, so that everyone can choose the appropriate option for themselves.

Clinic “Persona” has been providing patronage services for more than one year, all activities are well developed and debugged. The health of the baby is the most important thing, so it is very important to make the right decision when choosing specialists who will observe him. Experienced pediatricians of the clinic “Persona” will be happy to take care of the health of your most beloved and dear person. You will only need trust and willingness to follow all the recommendations of experts.

the most important care tips. The best article-reminder for moms and dads

Tips for young mothers on caring for a newborn baby: what to prepare for the birth of a baby, how to care for, feed, walk, bathe, put to bed. Answers to the most popular questions of moms.

Contents

Moms who have given birth to their first child are sometimes in terrible confusion: preparation for the arrival of the baby and caring for him raise so many questions that you simply do not know where to run and what to do. Worry and despair are useless here, because the newly-made parents already have enough reasons for worrying. This article contains the main rules and tips for caring for a newborn, so it can be safely used as an instruction on all issues of concern to parents.

Preparing a dowry for a child

There is a superstition that you can’t buy anything for an unborn child, so some mothers don’t prepare dowry for their babies on purpose. These are just prejudices. For future parents and all relatives, it is a real pleasure to go shopping, choosing tiny hats and undershirts. Preparing a “dowry” for a future mother helps to tune in to imminent motherhood. In addition, when the baby is born, there will be such a turmoil that it will be simply impossible for the baby to calmly choose, wash and stack things in piles. So, what you need to prepare for the appearance of crumbs into the world:

  • Diapers (In total, you will need about 20-25 of them. The ratio of thin and warm diapers is determined based on what time of the year the baby is born. By the way, knitted diapers are very comfortable: they are very soft, stretch well and fit the body).
  • Blouses or bodysuits (Unfastened vests are no longer relevant, because they are not comfortable. It is best to buy several blouses with a button or ties and several bodysuits).
  • One-piece overalls (Insulated overalls will be enough for the first time, but you can buy several thin ones).
  • Hats (Knitted hats without ties are the most convenient. 2 thin ones and one warm one are enough).
  • Socks (Soft knitted socks are useful even in the warm season. You can safely buy 4-5 pairs).
  • Warm wool blanket.
  • Flannelette blanket or plaid.

Some purchases can be left for later and, if necessary, entrusted to grandmothers. These include, for example, mittens – anti-scratches. Not all children resist cutting their nails, so mittens may not come in handy. Another purchase from this series is a pillow. Babies up to a year old can sleep without a pillow, using a folded diaper instead.

In addition to things, you need to prepare a first aid kit for the arrival of the baby:

  • Baby oil for wrinkle treatment (you can get by with sterile vegetable oil), baby cream;
  • Pipette, hydrogen peroxide, vial of brilliant green for the treatment of the umbilical wound;
  • Zinc ointment for rashes and diaper rash;
  • Bathing herbs, potassium permanganate;
  • Vapor tube, cherry-stone heating pad, carminatives (Bobotik, Sub-Simplex, etc. (see all anti-colic products)) in case of colic;
  • Wet wipes, cotton pads, sterile cotton, spout rinse – for hygiene procedures.
  • Antipyretic (better in suppositories), antihistamine (Fenistil) (see all preparations for fever).
  • Absorbent diapers and diapers for newborns.

Depending on the situation, it will be possible to purchase diaper cream and powder.

View and download the full list of first aid kit for a newborn baby – list here

Something for Mom

After discharge from the hospital, mom will also need some things to buy in advance:

  • Cream Bepanthen for cracked nipples.
  • Absorbent breast pads.
  • Comfortable nursing underwear.
  • Sanitary napkins (either special postpartum or normal but with maximum absorbency).
  • Postpartum bandage (for better recovery of the abdominal muscles).
  • Breast pads for feeding (what are they for and why).
  • Breast pump (how to choose and pump).

If everything is ready for the appearance in everyday life, it’s time to figure out and master the basic procedures that a young mother will have to perform daily and more than once.

Morning toilet: wash eyes, clean nose

Morning toilet is an analogue of our washing. Prepare a small bowl of warm boiled water, cotton pads and sterile cotton. We wipe the eyes with cotton pads moistened with water, making movements from the outer edge of the eye to the inner. Then, in each nostril, we instill 1-2 drops of special drops for washing the nose (you can use saline). We wait a few minutes until the crusts are slightly soaked. At this time, we twist small flagella from the fleece and gently clean the nose with them, making circular movements. You can not put the flagellum too deep. We clean the ears with the same flagella. Remember that a newborn baby can only toilet the nose and ears with cotton flagella. Children’s cotton swabs with restraints are intended for children from 1 year old. (See detailed articles on the topic: eye care, how to clean the baby’s nose and article: caring for the baby’s ears)

In the morning, be sure to treat the umbilical wound. To do this, with a clean pipette, drip a few drops of hydrogen peroxide into the wound. The peroxide begins to foam, separating the crusts and “bringing” them to the surface. We remove these crusts with a clean cotton swab, and then apply brilliant green to the wound with another stick (details on the treatment of the umbilical wound).

Changing a diaper

Most modern mothers prefer to use disposable diapers. A baby has to change a disposable diaper about 10 times a day: the child should not be in one diaper for more than 3-4 hours, and besides, you need to change the diaper every time the baby has pooped. The second point, moreover, must be performed even at night, because the feces are not absorbed by the diaper and irritate the skin.

Wash your baby before changing a diaper. If he crap one’s pants – with soap, if not – with warm tap water (if it is not possible to wash it – wipe it with wet wipes). If there is irritation, you can apply a diaper cream on the skin, if not, just let the skin dry.

Be sure to take care of the umbilical wound and make sure that the diaper fastener does not rub it. There are special diapers for newborns who have a notch in place of the navel. If you use others, fold the edge of the diaper or cover your navel with a piece of sterile bandage.

Let’s go for a walk

If the child is healthy, you can walk with him from the first day of life. Regarding children’s walks, the rule “nature has no bad weather” is true. You can cancel a walk only if there is severe frost, abnormal heat or other extreme weather conditions outside. In bad weather, you can take the cradle with the baby to the balcony.

Babies usually sleep in the stroller, so the mother can choose the time for a walk at her own discretion. It is better to start walking from 30-40 minutes, gradually increasing the time of the walk. Over time, you can walk up to 4-6 hours a day, dividing this time into 2 “sets”.

The most important thing is to dress your baby according to the weather, take wet wipes, a changeable diaper and a rain cover for the stroller.

We feed

If there are no contraindications, the child should only be breastfed. WHO recommends exclusively breast milk up to 6 months, which means that even water should not be given until this age, not to mention juices and fruit purees.

Feed the baby on demand. This means that for any crying and anxiety, the mother offers the baby a breast. The baby can stay at the breast until it releases itself. It is not worth interfering in this process and trying to regulate the sucking time: nature and instincts are “smarter” than our mind, the child himself knows how much and how often he needs to suckle.

Bath procedures

Bathe your baby every day. The temperature of the water for bathing should be about 37 degrees, but here it is better to focus on the child: someone behaves calmer in cooler water, someone in warmer water.

Boiling water for bathing, as was done in the past, is now not recommended, but until the umbilical wound has healed, it is better to add manganese to the water – it acts as an antiseptic. The potassium permanganate solution should be pale pink. After the wound has healed, if there are skin problems, you can bathe the baby in herbs.

For newborns, it is better to use a small bath. For the first baths, you can wrap the baby in a diaper so that he is not scared of the water. You can wash your child with soap and other products 2-3 times a week, and the rest of the time you can do with water. When bathing, do not forget to wash your hair. At the end of bathing for hardening, you can pour cool water over the baby’s legs.

After bathing, the baby should be well wrapped in a warm diaper or towel. The head also needs to be covered.

Details: how to bathe newborns

After bathing

After bathing, you also need to carry out some procedures:

  • Treat the umbilical wound in the same way as we did in the morning.
  • Trim nails while they are soft with water.
  • Wipe all wrinkles with oil (including the area behind the ears – crusts often form there).

Watch a video of how the baby is bathed:

Going to bed

Most breastfeeding babies fall asleep at the breast. You can rock the baby in your arms, and then carefully transfer it to the crib. The experience of mothers shows that it is better to swaddle babies for sleep: so their own movements do not cause them any concern, they are not afraid of their own arms or legs. By the way, it is better to buy a cradle for a newborn baby, not a crib. A limited space is more comfortable for a baby than a spacious and out of proportion bed.

The room must be ventilated before going to bed. It is believed that the optimal temperature for the room where the baby sleeps is about 20 degrees.

It is impossible to put the baby to sleep on his back – in a dream, the baby can burp and choke on vomit. To prevent the baby from rolling over on his back, laying him on his side, support his back with a small pillow or a folded blanket. The position of the sleeping baby should be periodically changed, shifting it from one side to the other. This is necessary so that the bones of the skull are not deformed.

The most popular questions that concern young mothers

A quivering young mother shudders at every sneeze of her baby and falls into confusion in front of many unfamiliar phenomena. Let’s try to deal with the most common questions of young mothers.

Unusual color and dryness of the baby’s skin

The skin of a newly born baby may have a reddish, yellowish tint. The first is due to a very thin layer of subcutaneous fat: the red tint is the blood vessels that show through the skin. Yellowness (jaundice) is the result of an increased content of bilirubin and goes away when the liver begins to work more actively.

Dryness and flaking of the skin is also normal. In this way, the skin adapts to the new air environment. Usually peeling disappears a month after birth. You can speed up this process by lubricating the flaky areas with baby cream or oil (see article: Why do newborns have flaky skin on the head and body – what mom needs to know) .

Details: proper skin care for a newborn baby

Baby hiccups

Many babies begin to hiccup in the stomach. Usually, hiccups in babies occur due to excess air that has entered the stomach during feeding. The best way to get rid of it is to scold the baby with a “column” and give a tummy massage ( article on hiccups and how to deal with it ).

The child is spitting up

Spitting up is a consequence of the underdevelopment of the digestive system and a special mechanism for children to “fight” overeating. As a preventative measure, make sure that the baby is properly latching onto the breast (so he does not swallow too much air), and keep him in a “column” after feeding. In general, regurgitation is not at all dangerous. Normally, once a day, a child can even burp with a “fountain”. If this happens more often and regurgitation lasts longer than 6 months, you should consult a neurologist ( see article on regurgitation ).

The child sneezes and coughs

If there are no signs of a cold (runny nose, high temperature) – these are natural self-cleansing reflexes of the body from mucus in the throat and nose.

Important:

  • Cough in a child (how to treat)
  • Temperature (how to treat)
  • Runny nose (how to treat)

How to dress your baby

The baby’s body is still bad at retaining heat and maintaining a constant temperature. This must be taken into account both at home and on the street. Excessively wrapped up, the child can easily be overheated, and leaving undressed – on the contrary, supercool. The main dressing rule for a toddler is to dress as you are + one layer of clothing.

Baby clothes should be made from natural fabrics, have a comfortable design and secure fasteners. It is best to choose blouses and overalls that can be easily put on without twisting the arms and legs of the child and without pushing the head into the narrow neck. All accessories (buttons, buttons) must be of high quality and securely sewn so that the little one cannot tear off and swallow a small piece of clothing.

How to understand if the baby is warm

The temperature of the arms and legs does not mean anything in this matter, because they are often cool in babies due to poor thermoregulation. To understand if the child is warm, you need to touch his neck: if it is cool, it is better to dress the baby warmer.

Can I give my baby a pacifier?

If there are plans for successful and long-term breastfeeding, it is better not to, in any case, up to 6 months, until lactation is fully established. The nipple confuses the child, he begins to confuse the mother’s breast and its silicone substitute, and may refuse the breast altogether. In addition, there is an opinion that sucking a nipple has a bad effect on the formation of bite. Reading on the topic: how to choose a pacifier and how to wean it from a pacifier

What to do if a child sucks his thumb?

Thumb sucking is a manifestation of the sucking reflex characteristic of infants. The first thing to do is to offer the baby a breast: he may be hungry. Thumb sucking can be a stress response: the baby sucks to calm down. In any case, this cannot be ignored. Try to understand the cause and eliminate it ( see how to wean a child from sucking fingers ).

Is it worth it to run to the child at the first cry and take him in your arms?

The answer is unambiguous – yes. Whatever the reason for crying, it cannot be ignored. A child may cry not only from hunger and physical discomfort. He may simply need his mother’s affection and warmth – this is the same vital need that must be satisfied ( see how to understand the reasons for the crying of a newborn baby ).

How to deal with colic?

Prevention is always better than cure, therefore, as part of prevention, lay the baby on the tummy, do a gentle massage of the tummy, wear it in a “column” after eating. If the attack nevertheless began – give the medicine, attach something warm to the tummy (a heating pad, a diaper heated with an iron). In emergency cases, when nothing helps and the attack does not go away – put a gas outlet tube Important: how to save a child from colic.

How to deal with a child so as not to frighten him?

Newborn babies react very specifically to sounds: under the monotonous rumble of a vacuum cleaner, the baby can sleep peacefully, but sharp loud sounds scare the baby very much. It is absolutely not necessary to surround the baby with silence, but so that the child is not afraid, harsh sounds should be avoided.

In general, all movements and actions of the mother should be smooth. The baby can be very frightened if, when bathing, he is abruptly immersed in water, or if he is abruptly put on the changing table. Until the child has adapted, everything that surrounds him in the “big world” can cause anxiety, so caution is needed in everything.

Reading on the topic: What to do if your child is afraid of loud noises

What to do if diaper rash appears?

Almost all mothers face this trouble. Red crusts and severe irritation appear when the baby’s skin is in contact with moisture for a long time. Contrary to prejudice, diaper rash in a child appears much less frequently in disposable diapers than in diapers. If the diaper is not overfilled, moisture is absorbed into it quickly and the baby’s skin has almost no contact with it, so it is not worth abandoning the diaper in favor of diapers in case of diaper rash.

Irritated skin needs healing and hydration. It is not necessary to constantly wash the baby with soap with diaper rash: soap dries the skin a lot and only increases the feeling of discomfort. It is necessary to wash the baby with water, and then lubricate the irritated area with oil or a healing cream (Bepanten, Bübchen). Be sure to arrange air baths, that is, leave the baby just naked, without a diaper and a diaper. When bathing in the evening, you can use herbs (chamomile, string) – they also have a healing effect.

Advice for dads

Read: Why are you tired? You are sitting at home! Or a memo to husbands who do not understand all the “charms” of maternity leave

The main advice for dads is to properly prepare for the meeting of his wife from the hospital. Flowers, balloons, and room decorations are great, but any mom will appreciate more if you free her from homework, which can accumulate a lot in a few days in the maternity hospital. After discharge from the maternity hospital, you want to get home as soon as possible in order to finally wash in your bath and lie on your bed, so that mountains of unwashed dishes and scattered things will not please your spouse at all. In addition, not all women are ready to flutter after childbirth. Most feel unimportant: weakness, pain from stitches, fatigue. This must be taken into account not only at the time of discharge, but also in general for the first time after the birth of the baby. To get into the rhythm and start coping with the child and household chores, a young mother needs time.

Caring for a newborn only at first glance seems to be something very complicated. Within a month, any mother does all the manipulations “with her eyes closed” and, by the intonation of crying, she understands that her beloved child is worried. The most important thing in caring for a baby is to do everything with love and “get involved” in the life of a little man as much as possible.

Finding reliable child care is a significant decision for parents. In the Capital Region of New York, an area bustling with families, it is essential to navigate the process with care. This comprehensive guide will provide you with valuable insights and tips on how to find the best child care options for your little ones.

How to Find Daycare in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, or Troy, NY

When it comes to finding daycare a systematic approach can make all the difference. Follow these steps to ensure you discover the perfect child care provider for your family:

1.    Start Early and Plan Ahead: Start your search early to secure a spot in high-demand centers. Begin at least six months before you need child care. By doing so, you’ll have ample time to explore different options and make an informed decision. Brightside Up’s “Search for child care” tool can assist you in finding licensed child care providers in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, and Rensselaer counties.

2.    Seek Recommendations: Reach out to friends, family, and neighbors for their recommendations. Personal referrals can provide valuable insights into the quality of care provided by different centers. Additionally, consider joining local parenting groups or online communities to gather further suggestions and experiences from fellow parents.

3.    Research Licensed Providers: Ensure the safety and well-being of your child by choosing licensed and regulated child care facilities. Licensing ensures that providers meet specific standards for health, safety, and educational quality. Visit the New York State Office of Children and Family Services website to access licensing information for New York State.

4.    Visit and Evaluate Potential Centers and Family Child Care Programs: Schedule visits to potential child care centers and family child care programs. Seeing the environment firsthand will help you assess the facilities, cleanliness, safety measures, and overall atmosphere. Take note of the caregiver-to-child ratio, staff qualifications, and the availability of age-appropriate learning materials. Trust your instincts and observe how the caregivers interact with the children.

5.    Check Reviews and References: Reading online reviews and testimonials from other parents can provide further insights into the experiences of families who have used specific child care centers or family child care programs. Additionally, don’t hesitate to request references from child care providers. Contact the references and ask relevant questions regarding the quality of care, staff engagement, and overall satisfaction.

What Is the Best Age to Put a Baby in Daycare?

Determining the ideal age to enroll your baby in daycare depends on various factors, including your family’s needs and your child’s individual development. Consider the following:

1.    Individual Considerations: Every family has unique circumstances. Consider your work schedule, personal preferences, and the child’s temperament when deciding the best age to start daycare. Some families may choose to enroll their babies as early as six weeks, while others prefer to wait until the child is a bit older.

2.    Benefits of Early Socialization: Early socialization in a daycare setting can contribute to a child’s social and emotional development. Interacting with peers and caregivers fosters important skills like sharing, communication, and independence. Research has shown that high-quality daycare can have a positive impact on a child’s cognitive and social skills later in life.

3.    Parental Support and Child’s Adjustment: To ensure a smooth transition, communicate openly with the caregivers and share any specific needs or concerns about your baby. Gradual separation can help both you and your child adjust to the new routine. Establish a bond with the caregivers and maintain regular communication to stay informed about your child’s progress and well-being.

How Much Does Daycare Cost in the Capital Region?

Child care costs in the Capital Region can vary based on multiple factors. Here’s an overview to help you understand the cost considerations:

1.    Overview of Cost Factors: Child care costs depend on factors such as the type of care (center-based, family child care, or in-home care), the age of the child, and the specific services offered. Full-time care typically incurs higher costs compared to part-time or occasional care.

2.    Average Tuition Rates: To get a better understanding of the current tuition rates in the Capital Region, visit Brightside Up’s “Explore Your Options” resource. Keep in mind that rates can differ among providers, so it is essential to contact individual centers directly for accurate pricing information.

3.    Financial Assistance and Subsidies: Explore available financial assistance programs, such as child care subsidies or tax credits. These programs can help alleviate the financial burden of child care costs. Contact local agencies or visit the New York State Office of Children and Family Services website for information on eligibility and application processes.

IV. When Should I Start Looking for Daycare in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, or Troy, NY?

If you are specifically searching for daycare in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, or Troy, NY, it’s crucial to start early and consider the following:

1.    Timelines and Waiting Lists: Popular child care centers in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, or Troy may have waiting lists and limited availability. Begin your search around six months before you need child care to increase your chances of securing a spot. Contact potential providers as early as possible to inquire about their waitlist procedures.

2.    Flexibility and Alternative Options: To navigate potential waiting lists, be open to alternative child care options such as in-home caregivers or nanny services. These alternatives can provide quality care while offering more immediate availability.

Finding the right child care in Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, or Rensselaer, NY, requires careful planning, research, and consideration of numerous factors. Starting early, seeking recommendations, visiting potential centers, and conducting thorough evaluations will help you make an informed decision. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has spent years covering up corruption and intimidating critics. But he won’t be able to fend off accusations of harassment Medusa tells the story of a politician who seemed unsinkable

Seth Wenig-Pool / Getty Images

Three-time New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo seemed to be forever. The cunning and prudent hereditary politician managed for many years to incite his formal Democratic comrades-in-arms and play along with the Republicans, cracking down on competitors in the internal party struggle, including with the help of administrative resources. Moreover, he built himself the image of a successful fighter against the coronavirus pandemic – although this image, to put it mildly, did not correspond to reality and contradicted his own policy in this area. Even now, when the investigation of the State Attorney General’s Office unequivocally proved the numerous facts of his harassment of the employees of his administration, Cuomo flatly refuses to resign – although not only high-ranking party members, but even President Joe Biden himself are calling for this. But the threat of impeachment over Andrew Cuomo is not illusory. At the request of Meduza, Yan Veselov, editor of One Big Union, a telegram channel about American politics, tells how, as a result of his own intrigues and arrogance, Andrew Cuomo found himself without support at a critical moment, and his political career is rapidly moving towards an inglorious end.

Don Cuomo

Andrew Cuomo, the son of former New York State Governor Mario Cuomo (who served three consecutive terms from 1983 to 1994), was virtually guaranteed from birth to a successful political career. Andrew received a law degree but soon entered politics, first leading his father’s election campaign and then becoming one of his advisers in the governor’s office.

In 1990, Andrew married Kerry Kennedy, niece of the assassinated 35th President of the United States. Subsequently, marriage was more than once called rather a smart calculation in order to intermarry with another influential American dynasty. Shortly after his marriage, Cuomo was promoted to deputy and then secretary of housing and urban development under President Bill Clinton. In 2006, he returned to his native state and was elected its Attorney General, and then the Governor, whose post is now in his third term.

Unlike his father, who was considered a fairly progressive governor (in 1984 he was even threatened with excommunication from the Catholic Church for supporting abortion), Andrew considered his idol Bill Clinton with his brand of moderate ” New Democrats. Critics on the left often called Cuomo a Republican dressed as a Democrat.

The Governor has been criticized for his attempts to cut spending on education and health care (including during the coronavirus pandemic), tax cuts for the state’s wealthiest residents, privatization of care for the elderly and the disabled, and aggressive pressure on unions of municipal and state employees. It was Cuomo who was blamed for the degradation of the infrastructure of the New York subway, because he controlled its budget, redirecting funds to other projects. Under pressure from Cuomo, the head of the New York Transportation Service (MTA), Andy Beeford, was forced to resign.

In addition, Cuomo dismissed the commission to investigate state corruption. This step is associated, firstly, with fear for his post – after all, one of the results of the work of the commission was the imprisonment of two of Cuomo’s closest allies on corruption charges. Secondly, this could be the result of intra-party competition – Cuomo’s competitor in the Democratic primaries during the election campaign for the post of governor of New York, Zephyr Teachout, acted under the slogans of fighting corruption.

Cuomo’s leadership style, which ruled the state as his fiefdom and surrounded himself with politicians and employees from whom he demanded unconditional loyalty, also caused a lot of criticism. Critics were often intimidated and blackmailed.

In 2008, Democrats won a majority in the upper house of the state legislature. They controlled the lower one before that, but they failed to take advantage of their victory. Four Democratic senators (three of whom were later convicted of embezzlement and bribery) refused to vote with their party colleagues and joined the Republicans, paralyzing the caucus.

The result was the Democrats losing their state Senate majority in the 2010 election. Despite the fact that the “rioters” returned, four other Democrats united in the “Independent Democratic Conference” (IDC) and began to vote with the Republicans. The leader of the Senate Republicans, by the way, was also convicted of corruption. In exchange, the defectors received positions as committee chairs and tens of thousands of dollars in pay raises.

In subsequent years, Cuomo more than once, at least defiantly, did not interfere with IDC to change the balance of power in the state legislature in favor of the Republicans. This helped him both sabotage the passage of a number of laws supported by Democrats and maintain the image of a moderate and compromising governor who is ready to cooperate with political opponents. It ended only in 2018 with the self-dissolution of the Independent Democratic Conference in 2018, when 6 out of 8 of its members were defeated in elections and party primaries.

In the same 2018 Democratic primary, Cuomo was challenged by actress Cynthia Nixon, supported by left-wing activists and the New York-based Working Families Party. Cuomo, in retaliation, began to actively pressure local unions (some of them represent municipal workers, others depend on state contracts) to stop supporting the party. Nixon lost the primary in the end.

How Cuomo heroically “beat” the pandemic (in his own book)

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Cuomo’s ratings began to rise, and he himself became almost a national star. Liberal media from Rolling Stone to Vogue professed their love for Cuomo and touted his daily press conferences, for which he was even awarded an Emmy. CNN arranged regular interviews with him, in which his brother, host Chris Cuomo, asked him only convenient questions. This “family tradition” is not the first year, and its ethics have long been criticized even by the media sympathetic to the Democrats, not to mention the much more militant Fox News and other pro-Republican media.

Cuomo’s allies, and indeed himself, clearly contrasted him with Donald Trump as an example of a skilled manager who, during a difficult period, took responsibility for the lives of Americans, while the federal government hesitated to respond to the epidemic that struck the country. This culminated in Cuomo’s The American Crisis, published in October 2020 (right before the second wave of coronavirus in the US!) in which he criticized the federal government and praised his efforts to fight the disease.

However, this blissful picture began to crumble quickly. At first, the story came to light that New York State authorities under Cuomo’s leadership significantly underestimated the statistics of deaths from coronavirus (by about 50%) in nursing homes, in which about 15 thousand people have died since the beginning of the epidemic – almost a third of all deaths from covid in state. In fact, throughout the United States, about a third of all those who died from coronavirus infection were residents of nursing homes. But Cuomo’s critics believe New York City’s high death toll was due to about 9Thousands of older New Yorkers have been returned to nursing homes after being treated in hospitals, but the state’s Department of Health denies the link in a report.

In addition, since the start of the pandemic, Cuomo has secured legal immunity from possible prosecution for nursing homes. It later emerged that the New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), which represents them, had spent $2 million on Cuomo’s election campaign, and that three relatives of Melissa Derosa, the governor’s closest aide, work for a GNYHA lobbying firm.

Among local politicians, Cuomo was most vocally criticized by local Democratic MP Ron Kim, whose uncle died in a nursing home. Cuomo called him personally and threatened that he would “destroy his career.” And Cuomo’s book, about how he heroically beat the coronavirus in New York, was helped by his direct staff in the administration to write and edit, which is against the law. For the book, Cuomo received a fee of about five million dollars, despite the rather ridiculous sales of several tens of thousands of copies for a bestseller.

After the nursing home scandal, there were initial calls from both Democrats and Republicans for Cuomo to resign or impeach him. It turned out that in fact it was even worse.

What Cuomo now definitely cannot get away with

In December 2020, Cuomo’s former assistant Lindsey Boylan accused him of sexual harassment. According to her, the governor, against her will, kissed her, touched her and allowed himself unprofessional comments. Cuomo himself denied everything, and his closest aides at that time were actively collecting dirt on Boylan and calling her former colleagues (especially women) in the hope of extracting information from them that would discredit their former colleague. Those who did not agree were intimidated by Cuomo’s aides so that they would not communicate with journalists in any case.

In February, former gubernatorial staffer Charlotte Bennet made similar accusations, and by mid-March, the number of women speaking out publicly against Cuomo had risen to six. In total, since the end of 2020, eight women have publicly accused Governor Cuomo of various types of sexual harassment.

And at the decisive moment it turned out that Cuomo had no friends, but only people who supported him out of fear or pragmatic calculation. His fellow Democrats immediately turned their backs on him. Both US President Joe Biden and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gilibrand, representing New York in the Senate, as well as almost the entire state delegation in the lower house of the US Congress and the majority of Democrats in the Legislative Assembly called for the resignation of the governor state. The largest trade unions, party allies and even some former administration officials turned their backs on him. The exceptions were a few of the administration’s most loyal members and Chris Cuomo’s brother, who, as it turned out, advised him on crisis PR issues, although he also worked for CNN (and as a result did not suffer any sanctions for this).

And the problem with working relations in the Cuomo administration, as it turned out, was not limited to harassment alone. The New York Times interviewed 35 former employees of the governor who said that women were sometimes denied promotions because they were not attractive enough, employees were pitted against each other, forced to perform tasks unrelated to their position and regularly insulted. A similar story was told in the Washington Post and New York Magazine: Cuomo not only harassed subordinates, but also yelled at them, insulted them and brought them to tears.

But instead of immediately initiating formal impeachment proceedings, the New York legislature and the state attorney general’s office decided they would first conduct their own investigation. This allowed Cuomo to avoid media and public attention for several months, but on August 3, 2021, the investigation ended with the release of a 165-page report, the conclusions of which Cuomo no longer has any way to ignore. State Attorney General Letitia James confirmed that not only were all the accusations against the governor true, but the investigation found three more victims of his harassment. In total, investigators studied more than 74,000 documents and interviewed hundreds of witnesses. Among them was, for example, an employee of the governor’s police guard. Cuomo, she said, constantly made obscene comments about her and touched her at every opportunity — despite the fact that she was on duty as his guard and was armed.

So now Cuomo is over?

After the publication of the results of the investigation, Cuomo once again stated that he was slandered and he was not going to resign. Moreover, he published a multi-page response, most of which was occupied by photographs of Cuomo kissing and hugging politicians, officials, public figures and activists, and the governor continues to explain his “increased tactility” by upbringing and Italian traditions.

Since Andrew Cuomo is clearly not going to voluntarily resign, impeachment is becoming a more and more real prospect. At least 86 of the 150 members of the lower house of the state legislature have already announced that they will support impeachment. So now everything depends on House Speaker Carl Histy, who recently said that Cuomo can no longer remain in office.

Remember to utilize the resources provided by Brightside Up, such as the online child care search tool and average tuition rates. With proper preparation and a comprehensive approach, you can find the perfect child care solution that meets your family’s needs and ensures the well-being of your child.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo spent years covering up corruption and intimidating critics.

Unlike his father, who was considered a fairly progressive governor (in 1984 he was even threatened with excommunication from the Catholic Church for supporting abortion), Andrew considered Bill Clinton with his brand of moderate ” New Democrats. Critics on the left often called Cuomo a Republican dressed as a Democrat.

The Governor has been criticized for his efforts to cut spending on education and health care (including during the coronavirus pandemic), tax cuts for the state’s richest residents, privatization of care for the elderly and the disabled, and aggressive pressure on unions of municipal and state employees.

Cuomo’s leadership style, which ruled the state as his own fiefdom and surrounded himself with politicians and employees from whom he demanded unconditional loyalty, also caused a lot of criticism.

In the same 2018 Democratic primary, Cuomo was challenged by actress Cynthia Nixon, supported by left-wing activists and New York’s influential Working Families Party.

New Yorkers whose elderly relatives died of coronavirus in nursing homes picket to demand Andrew Cuomo’s resignation. New York, March 25, 2021

    Spencer Platt / Getty Images

And the problem with working relations in the Cuomo administration, as it turned out, was not limited to harassment.

A billboard featuring Cuomo and the “Retire” slogan in Albany, the capital of New York State. March 2, 2021

    Matthew Cavanaugh / Getty Images

Kindergarten for 250 children received a license

Throughout 2021, Krasnoyarskiye Novosti monitored the progress of construction of one of the main social facilities in the region – the Yarkiy kindergarten, which is being built in the village of Krasny Yar as part of the Demography national project. And today, on Lugovaya Street, you can see a modern and colorful building that houses a new kindergarten.

“For us, this is a joyful and very long-awaited event,” notes Tatyana Khripunova, head of the structural unit. – The new garden is beautiful and spacious, equipped with modern equipment, of course, children will feel great in it, and specialists will work comfortably, – continues T.M. Khripunov. – The first floor will be completely occupied by groups for kids, there is also a specialized medical office. And on the second floor there are halls for music and sports activities with an interactive floor.”

All construction and finishing works have been completed in the preschool. The furniture and all the necessary equipment have already been assembled and arranged inside. On February 8, the kindergarten received a license
    for educational activities.
“I work as a physical education instructor in a kindergarten,” says Alexander Shabernev. – Previously, the gym was used by
for classes, and festive events and music lessons were also held here. And now we have a separate spacious hall,
fully equipped with various equipment. In addition, 2 sports grounds are equipped on the territory of the kindergarten, with a special safety coating,” the instructor continues. “I am sure that physical education will become more convenient and in the future we will achieve good sports results.”

A new preschool in the village of Krasny Yar was built as part of the Demography national project. Thanks to participation in the project, it will be possible to unload the kindergarten “Romashka” and its branch, which is located at the school, thereby reducing the queue of pupils.
“We applied to a kindergarten in July 2020 through the State Services portal – this is very convenient. We tracked the queue in the same place, – says the mother of the future pupil, Victoria Kalganova. – Later they called me back and said that in the near future we can visit the new kindergarten “Yarky”. We sometimes come for a walk nearby, the territory we are 9I really liked 0142. I am sure that my daughter will be happy to attend kindergarten.”

Presence of a nursery group in the kindergarten “Yarkiy” will allow mothers to return to work earlier if they wish.

Caring for a newborn baby in the first months of life at home

The arrival of a newborn in the family will be a new experience for everyone, and in the first months it is necessary to take special care of the baby. Proper care of the newborn, a balanced, healthy diet, hygiene measures and sleep patterns are crucial for the overall development of the child. It is especially pedantic to follow all the recommendations in the first month of life, when the baby is actively adapting to new living conditions, the umbilical wound heals, breastfeeding is being established, and a regimen is being formed.

Care of a newborn on the first day

Immediately after the baby is born, the baby is placed on the mother’s stomach and then applied to the breast. This is necessary so that he receives the first drops of colostrum necessary for his health. It is a thick yellowish liquid rich in nutrients and immune components. It saturates the baby and gives him protection from infections, helps to populate the intestines with beneficial microflora. After some time, the doctor will examine the baby, and the nurse, under his leadership, will conduct the first toilet of the newborn. Cheese grease will be removed from his skin, his eyes will be cleaned, special drops will be instilled into them to prevent inflammation.

The baby will be swaddled and given to the mother, the baby will be with her until the discharge. From the first days, the maternity hospital staff teaches the mother the basics and rules of caring for a newborn. This will help you not to worry and do everything right after the hospital, when you return home.

    Newborn Care

Caring for an infant under 28 days old is the hardest part of the journey, but following our newborn care tips makes it easier for parents to understand what parents should be aware of, what schedules they should follow, what they should do, and what they shouldn’t worry about.

Bathing in the first days of life

Bathing is not necessary during the first days of life. It may seem strange – after all, cleanliness is the best way to keep yourself hygienic and healthy. However, in the maternity hospital and the first 1-2 days after discharge, the baby is not washed, as he retains a coating on his entire body, which acts as a protective layer. This creamy white substance, called Vernix caseosa, is made up of sweat gland oils. It acts as a protective layer against all bacteria and keeps your baby’s sensitive skin moisturized. Within 7-10 days, the white coating slowly peels off. After that, you can bathe the baby.

    Umbilical cord care

An important part of caring for a newborn at home is the handling of the umbilical cord. When taking a bath, it is important to keep the umbilical cord as dry as possible. But do not seal the residue, when bathing, you just need to gently rinse the skin around. After the umbilical cord has fallen off, special attention should be paid to the wound until it is completely healed.

Your pediatrician or nurse will tell you how to take care of the umbilical wound area at home during your first visit (post-discharge visit).

    Genital Care

Your baby needs to change their diaper frequently and have their genitals cleaned regularly. At 1 month of life, you need to change the diaper every 2 hours and immediately after the baby has gone big. After removing the diaper, you need to rinse the perineum with warm water and after that keep this area dry. For girls, wash your genitals from front to back to avoid bacterial infection. Boys can wash in any direction. After washing, gently blot the skin folds with a soft cotton towel, treat all the folds with a protective cream and put on a clean diaper.

    Scalp Care Features

One of the most delicate parts of a newborn is the scalp. The bones of the skull have not yet fully fused, and there are weak spots on the head called fontanelles that form during childbirth. In addition, the skin on the scalp is quite thin and easily scratched. It is important not to rub it too hard while shampooing your hair.

If milk crusts form, massage your head with shampoo or baby oil and then wash off any crusts that have come off while washing. It is not necessary to peel off the crusts during home care for the scalp of newborns, this will only increase their appearance.

    Skin care

Your baby’s skin is soft and you just need to moisturize it regularly with a good lotion. Babies usually develop pimples on their cheeks, nose, forehead, and cheeks in the early days. This is because the mother’s hormones are still circulating in the baby’s body. No need to worry, in a few days everything will pass. You should clean your face with a cotton pad with warm water without squeezing out the pimples. Because the baby had been in the womb for so long, his skin was highly hydrated. When a child is exposed to the environment, the skin naturally becomes dry. During the first month of life, slight peeling is possible, which disappears on its own.

Wash your eyes daily with a damp cotton pad, starting from the inner corner and then to the outer corner. A separate blank disc should be used for each eye.

The child’s ears are self-cleaning. It is important not to use a damp cloth or cotton inside the ear canal. This can lead to blockages and inflammation.

    Feeding advice

Because your baby’s stomach is small, he only eats a certain amount of food and will need energy again in a few hours. For the first six weeks, it is important to let your baby breastfeed whenever he wants to. Trying to schedule a feeding too early can backfire as it disrupts milk production. Don’t worry about getting enough milk – the more your baby eats, the more you produce.

The baby needs to latch on properly to get enough milk so that the mother’s nipples do not get hurt or hurt. Before putting him to your chest, lay him on his side so that his stomach is directly opposite yours. Then move your nipple near your mouth so that it opens wide; make sure he takes the entire nipple and a significant portion of your areola into his mouth.

    Basic sleep advice

Young infants should always be placed to sleep on their back, not on their side or stomach. At first, newborns sleep a lot – from 16 to 17 hours a day – but this sleep is interrupted every hour or two by small periods of wakefulness. In the first weeks, the baby usually wakes up just long enough to be fed and changed. Since the baby will also be awake for short periods during the night, which will inevitably disrupt your sleep, in order to stay well rested, you should make sure to sleep with your baby at night and during the day.

It is important for babies to sleep on their tummy during the day. It helps to strengthen the back muscles and relax the muscles, reduce colic.

    Coping with crying

Children often cry at an early age, but often there are quite clear reasons for this. What they are – parents learn to recognize during the first weeks of life.

    • Rule out obvious potential causes: check if the baby’s diapers are dirty, if he is too hot or cold, if his diaper or clothes are crushing.
    • Recreate a womb-like environment by wrapping your baby securely in a blanket with arms and legs swaddled. Then hold it firmly on your left side or stomach and gently rock it, making soft hissing or throat sounds.
    • Walking, relaxing music, rocking in the arms or in the cradle, stroller helps to calm down. (Babies love to move!)

First of all, keep your cool! If you are tense, your child will be tense too. Remember that babies sometimes just cry – and this will pass.

How to care for children with cerebral palsy

Treatment of a child with cerebral palsy is not limited to being in a hospital or health resort. The daily organization of life is of great importance. Parents are the main assistants of doctors. Caring for a child with cerebral palsy requires a lot of time and effort every day. Bathing, hygiene procedures, dressing, feeding. But at the same time, an emotional connection is formed that rewards all efforts. In order for a child to become independent, he must be constantly provided with such an opportunity.

Features of the organization of daily life

    Sleep

Many children do not sleep well, and this is quite understandable, because during the day they do not expend enough energy. It is necessary to properly organize a place to relax. If there is no hard enough mattress, it is recommended to put a board under it or purchase a pillow of increased rigidity. Thus, a small slope is formed, and it will be easier for the child to move. It is necessary to teach the baby to sleep in different positions and change the position of the body in a dream. Choose a time for training when you are not in a hurry, as an option, on weekends. To do this, you can use various joint games. If you find it difficult to assess the capabilities of the child, ask for expert advice.

    Feeding

During the first years of life, children with cerebral palsy are difficult to feed. However, by teaching the control of your movements, you can come to good results. It is possible to teach a baby to eat independently only if fundamental skills have been mastered. He must perform movements of the head, jaw, lips and tongue, independent of the movements of the trunk and arms, and maintain good balance in the sitting position. Mom can place the child in a chair on the side of her or in front of her. The eyes should be at the same level. Otherwise, the child will be forced to throw back his head. If the baby cannot control the muscles of the mouth, an adult will have to manage them. To do this, use two fingers – index and middle. The middle finger is placed below the chin. It is necessary to press on it with constant effort. So the tongue will not be able to move forward. At first, the child will not like it, but then he will get used to it. Gradually, the baby will be able to control the muscles of the mouth and tongue, and the need for help will decrease, and later disappear. The spoon should always be brought from the front, and it must be located along the midline of the body, you can not stretch it from the side.

    Bathing

Caring for disabled children with cerebral palsy requires regular bathing. When bathing a small child, place a towel, rug, or something else on the bottom. In order for him to enjoy the process, feel confident and safe, tell him what you plan to do. Demonstrate how you open the taps, explaining that one is for cold water and the other is for hot. Let him take the toys out of the water at the end of the bath. At the same time, he will train to take and release various objects from his hands, in addition, he will replenish his vocabulary.

    Dressing

When dressing your child, choose a position that minimizes spasticity and prevents uncontrolled movements.
