Secondary education in Ireland, private boarding schools Ireland

Private schools in Ireland are not as popular as British ones. However, the quality of education in them is in no way inferior to well-known English ones, but the cost is almost a third lower. If you are planning to send your child to Ireland for secondary education, this section is for you. Here you will learn about the peculiarities of studying in Irish schools, educational programs, admission conditions for Russians and the cost of studying.

The secondary education system in Ireland

The Irish secondary education system is similar to many European ones and consists of three main blocks:

  • Primary School,
  • Junior High School (Secondary School),
  • Secondary School.

Some schools have an extra year between high school cycles called the Transition Year.

The first level of education, junior school , accepts children from 6 to 12 years of age. During this period, students must study mathematics, English and the national language – Irish. In addition, schoolchildren attend music, arts, and sports classes.

The second level – junior high school , which lasts three years, is intended for children aged 13 to 16 years. During this period, the range of academic disciplines becomes wider and reaches 10 subjects. At the end of this stage, the student can go to the Transition Year – the year when the student himself determines the list of subjects studied and his interests. In some schools, the transition year is mandatory, in others, the choice is left to the child.

Primary and lower secondary education is a compulsory educational minimum for Irish citizens. At the end of these two stages, children take the exam Junior Certificate – according to its results, they are enrolled in a senior secondary school.

Senior High School is a two-year program that prepares students for higher education. During this period, the student studies 6-8 subjects: of which English and mathematics are mandatory, the student chooses all other disciplines based on his future plans. At the end of their studies, students take an exam and, with good scores, receive a certificate Leaving Certificate (LCE). LCE is an analogue of the British A-level and is recognized by all English-speaking countries. Yesterday’s Irish student can apply to universities in Ireland, as well as American, Australian or English universities.

Ireland’s private boarding schools

There are more than 800 schools in Ireland, of which about 20% are private. It is worth saying that public schools accept foreign students, but according to Irish law, a child under the age of 18 must have an Irish citizen guardian. In the event that a student enters a private school, the educational institution assumes guardianship. In addition, public schools in their mass appeared only in the 60s of the twentieth century and are significantly inferior to private schools in many respects.

Private schools in Ireland are usually educational institutions with a long history, a proven teaching methodology and an excellent technical base. School campuses are full-fledged campuses with educational buildings, canteens, libraries, open / closed sports facilities and hostels, where students live under the constant supervision of staff. Ireland has both single-sex educational institutions and private mixed boarding schools.

Foreign citizens can enter private Irish schools from the age of 12. Although, many students from other countries are limited to only the last 2 classes in preparation for entering a university. At any age, private schools offer students a surprisingly extensive program. Students study biology, physics, chemistry, geography, history, drawing, music, physical education, economics, basic accounting, art, etc. Particular attention is paid to the harmonious development of the child: all students must go in for some kind of sport, as well as art or music.

How do I get into a private boarding school in Ireland?

Requirements for international students wishing to enroll in an Irish private school may vary by institution. As a rule, the package of documents includes:

  • Statement with grades for the last 2 years. At least 40% of the marks must be “excellent”.
  • Recommendations from teachers of mathematics and English.
  • A cover letter stating why the student wants to study at this particular school.
  • English language test results. Requirements depend on the school and the age of the student.
  • Vaccination history and medical record.

It will also be useful to attach all the regalia and awards for the child’s sports and creative achievements to the package of documents. Some schools may ask you to take a skype interview, pass additional tests in mathematics or other disciplines.

Please note that documents must be submitted in advance. As a rule, most schools accept applications until January.

School fees in Ireland

Prices in private boarding schools are democratic: on average, they are 20-30% lower than in neighboring Great Britain or top US schools. At the same time, the technical and material equipment of schools and the quality of education as a whole often exceed the English and American ones. A year of study with accommodation and meals will cost about 10,000 – 15,000 €.

Education and study in Ireland

Secondary education in Ireland

Russians don’t send their children to Ireland so often, preferring the more popular countries of the European Union. But in vain.

The British and Germans just willingly take their offspring to study in the schools of the neighboring island state, because the cost of studying in Ireland is one third lower than in Old Europe. The quality of the knowledge gained and the level of the diploma do not suffer at all from less prestige and more affordable prices.

We have tried to collect in one article as much information as possible about how schoolchildren are taught in Ireland, what requirements they have, how the Irish approach differs from the Russian one, and other important points.

Benefits of an Irish school and features of education

The main reason why prudent Europeans tend to send their children to study in Ireland is the cost. Despite the fact that any English-speaking university in the world evaluates the diploma of an Irish graduate at the same level as a British or American one, studying in Ireland costs at least a third cheaper. A weighty argument, but far from the only one. To find out the rest of the advantages of studying in Ireland, consider the system of the local high school as a whole.

The secondary education program in Ireland is formed on the basis of the Bologna and consists of three levels of education:

  • Primary School – primary, in which children come at 6 years old and graduate at 11-12 years old;
  • Secondary School – the basic course of high school, an analogue of our compulsory basic secondary education with the receipt of the corresponding certificate;
  • Senior Secondary School – complete secondary education, the receipt of which gives the right to continue their studies at a higher educational institution in Ireland or abroad.

Education in Ireland provides for students who have completed the basic level of secondary school, the opportunity to pass the Transition Year before moving on to the next grade. During the transitional year, children study according to a special program, mostly built around personality development: schoolchildren get acquainted with culture, immerse themselves in art, spend a lot of time on sports fields, attend career guidance seminars.

Education in Ireland at the Secondary School lasts three years – on average, graduates of the first stage of secondary education are 15-16 years old. The state program of school education in the country provides that at this stage, each child masters 10 disciplines at the basic level. The list includes languages, humanities and exact sciences.

The school system in Ireland is designed in such a way as not to overload students with independent work, as is often the case in Russian schools. Children spend up to 8 hours a day on classes, Saturday and Sunday are days off. There is a minimum of homework, but there are a lot of opportunities to prove yourself: reports, projects, seminars, electives.

At the end of the basic course of a secondary school in Ireland, a comprehensive exam for obtaining a Junior Certificate is provided – an alternative to the Russian certificate of basic secondary education. The key difference between the Junior Certificate is that it will be accepted as the basis for admission to colleges and lyceums of extended secondary education in any country of the European Union. Most likely, you will not have to take exams, the final certificate should be counted.

Upon successful completion of the exam, graduates may choose to take the Transition Year or skip it if their institution’s policy allows this option. In some public and private schools, education in Ireland is structured in such a way that it is impossible to miss the transition year.

You do not need to take an exam to enter the second grade of an Irish secondary school. The decision to enroll a student in a course is made by the school management according to his results in the Junior Certificate.

Upper secondary education in Ireland is a full two-year preparation of children for admission to higher education. The curriculum for the graduating classes is drawn up without profiling, as in some EU countries, but with an emphasis on the general education base. The knowledge gained in two years is enough to enter the university for any specialty, there is no need to spend time and money on tutors.

As part of Ireland’s high school education, students are allowed to create their own curriculum. According to the rules, each student is required to study at least 6 disciplines, in addition to the mandatory basic ones: mathematics and English. Regardless of the choice, at the end of each of the two years, an examination assessment of knowledge is carried out in all subjects. In case of failure in the exam, the child has the right to retake. If teachers put unsatisfactory grades in several subjects at once, there is a risk of staying for the second year.

At the end of your secondary school education in Ireland, there is a comprehensive Leaving Certificate (LCE) exam. The Leaving Certificate (LCE) from an Irish school is considered a complete analogue of the generally recognized British A-level, which opens the gate to hundreds of good universities and higher schools in Europe, America and Australia. A high score in all subjects practically guarantees that the child will easily become a student of any top university in the world.

Based on the above, we have compiled a list of the benefits of getting a secondary education in Ireland for Russians and students from other former Soviet countries:

  • Schoolchildren study more with teachers and less on their own, thanks to which they have more confident knowledge in all subjects;
  • The classes do not recruit a large number of students, so the teacher is guaranteed to be able to give everyone enough attention;
  • Schools are well equipped, they have laboratories for practical work in the exact sciences, there are sports halls equipped with everything necessary, music rooms;
  • Due to being in an English-speaking environment, the child easily and quickly learns the language, which helps a lot when entering higher educational institutions of international level;
  • There are language schools in Ireland at almost every private school, they teach not only to speak English, but also help to adapt to a new cultural environment, prepare for the next academic year;
  • During extracurricular hours, students of private schools are not left without attention, cultural recreation is organized for them – they are taken to theaters, to sports competitions, to museums and other interesting places;
  • In education in Ireland there is no place for standardization of thinking and old-fashioned methods, students there use modern achievements in science and technology, receive up-to-date knowledge, have a lot of opportunities to realize their own potential and reveal their talents.

Cost

Let’s take a closer look at how much it costs to study in Ireland at a secondary school. Of course, the cost depends on the school. As in any country, here you can find a simpler educational institution with a minimum price, and a premium one for those who are ready to invest a really large amount in the future of their children.

The average cost of education in Ireland for a student is 19,000 euros per year. For Russians, the amount may seem impressive, but it includes not only school fees, but also all related expenses:

  • Full board,
  • School uniform,
  • Textbooks and stationery,
  • Payment for leisure,
  • Medical insurance.

Despite the fact that in our country school education is completely free, on average it is far from being at the highest level. Outside the big cities, schools are poorly equipped, the buildings themselves have not been renovated for a long time, the teaching staff is far from professional, which is caused by a shortage of personnel in the education system. Ireland doesn’t have all these problems, and you don’t have to worry about your child getting into bad company.

How to prepare for admission

Preparing your child for school in Ireland should start as early as possible. The most important thing for admission is a confident knowledge of the English language, since it is taught in almost all schools of the island nation.

The education system in Ireland provides for the opportunity to learn a language as part of a course at a secondary school. Everyone is taken to language schools, the course for the student is selected according to the age and knowledge he has. It is fair to say that the cost of studying English in Ireland is higher than in Russia, but the effectiveness of the courses is strikingly different. Due to being in the language environment, the student quickly masters the basics and forms a vocabulary sufficient for communication, which can be expanded already in the process of studying at school.

In addition to the fact that for admission to the application you will need to attach an international certificate that confirms knowledge of the English language, you will need to: make a translation of academic transcripts, references from teachers, medical certificates.

You can do all this for a long time, so as not to waste time and speed up the process, please contact us – Chancellor employees have rich experience in placing schoolchildren from Russia in foreign schools.

Education for Russians

The key difficulty faced by Russian children in Ireland is a personalized approach to schoolchildren. After the Russian school, it is not easy for a student to quickly get used to the fact that he may not be afraid to show individuality. In the classroom, teachers willingly discuss with children, do not impose their own opinion, support creative undertakings and the desire to delve into some topic beyond the educational program.

You don’t need to know Irish to get an education in Ireland, but you can’t do without English. But if a child is sent to study from the very first grade of secondary school, then due to the step-by-step development system, he will learn the language in just a year. It is clear that some kind of base will be needed for this, at least level A2 or higher.

How to choose an educational institution

We recommend that parents approach the choice of an educational institution for their child with the utmost care. In this matter, one cannot be guided only by the cost of a year of study or the prestige of the school, there are other important criteria:

  • Study program (basic and advanced) – almost every private school in Ireland offers its own advanced program to prepare students for admission to higher education institutions. To get acquainted with the features of each program is a long time, but it is necessary.
  • The presence of preparatory courses – they are needed even for those students who, it would seem, are completely ready for the transition from a Russian school to a European one. The courses do not so much provide knowledge as a guideline for the approach to learning, educational standards, intra-school procedures.
  • Children’s living conditions and their employment after hours – Ireland has one of the lowest crime rates in the European Union and in the world, but this is no reason to leave a child on his own. In many local schools there is a dense program of out-of-school development of students, within which children are organized leisure activities and provide opportunities for versatile physical and spiritual development.

Useful tips and interesting facts

  • Apply at least a year in advance to the school you want to send your child to, so there is a better chance of booking a place in the class.
  • It is advisable to send the child to preparatory courses from the school, because this greatly simplifies the psychological and social adaptation of the student in a new language environment for him.
  • Education in Ireland is completely similar to British, but it costs less, so if it is not important to send a student to Foggy Albion, you should think about his island neighbor.
  • European education opens the door for the child to the best international universities, and due to the personalized approach in schools, students usually do not need to additionally study with a tutor to pass entrance tests.
  • Seeing the school with your own eyes is a great idea, educational institutions organize open days every year, you can come and see how everything works there.
  • Some schools in Ireland offer scholarships for outstanding students, so if your child excels at sports or has other talents, don’t hide it.
  • The workload for schoolchildren is distributed over the years in almost the same way as in the Russian education system, so the transition at any age for children, as a rule, takes place without stress and the need to catch up with the program.
  • Teachers of local schools are sympathetic towards foreigners, at first they receive increased attention, and can also count on additional assistance with the development of specific topics of the curriculum.

Why Chancellor

While seemingly affordable, getting into a school in Ireland is not always easy. The slightest mistake when submitting documents is fraught with the fact that the student will have to miss the year and repeat the admission attempt in the next.

The challenge and the organization

There are few things more important in children’s lives than their education. Yet parents frequently have a difficult time getting vital information about schools, such as how well students perform on standardized tests, what the teacher-child ratio is and how diverse the student and faculty populations are.

GreatSchools, a national education nonprofit helping empower parents to improve educational opportunity for their children, set out to solve that problem when it was founded in 1998. GreatSchools offers information about the quality of schools that it gathers from federal, state, and local governments, and from parents, students, and teachers. At the GreatSchools website, parents can search for schools by geographic location and get vital information about them. Parents can also find thousands of articles, videos, learning tools and worksheets to support their children’s learning.

Our number one goal is to help parents find the right educational opportunities for their children. The whole point is to match their children’s needs with the best schools possible, in ways that are most useful for American parents.

Carrie Goux, vice president of communications, GreatSchools

How they did it

GreatSchools uses Google Maps Platform to let parents search in specific geographic areas for schools, display school locations on maps, and get in-depth information about any school. Using the Google Maps JavaScript API and the Google Maps Geocoding API, school locations are pinned to a map after a parent does a search. Clicking a pin shows a brief summary about the school. Clicking the name of the school displays an in-depth report card, including standardized test scores, equity information such as how diverse the school is, how low-income and minority students perform on tests, and other information such as student-teacher ratios and percentage of teachers who are state certified. There are also ratings and reviews by parents. (Currently, California schools show the most in-depth information. The site is quickly expanding information on schools in the rest of the U.S.)

Using Google Maps Platform, the GreatSchools website also shows school district boundaries. This is especially useful for parents moving to a new area because once they decide which schools they want their children to attend, they can look for houses in that school’s district. Most people search for districts and schools by typing in a specific address or zip code.

GreatSchools relies on other Google tools available through the Google for Nonprofits program as well, such as G Suite, which staff members use as their office suite and to share data and documents with each other and outside groups. GreatSchools also posts videos on YouTube that show parents how they can help support their children’s learning.

Impact

More than 40 million unique visitors go to the GreatSchools website each year to find the best schools for their children.

The site also offers organizers and advocacy groups the tools and information to push for better schools for all children, including lobbying for schools to innovate and focus on underserved communities. For example, Goux says the group Innovate Public Schools in the San Francisco Bay area has been working with a group of parents in California’s Redwood City to improve neighborhood schools in an area with many Latino families. On the GreatSchools web site they used maps to find schools close to the district, and examined how those schools performed compared to schools in their district. It showed that nearby schools performed better than the local schools. Redwood City parents used that information to lobby the school board to approve a new charter school designed to be successful in communities like theirs, Goux says.

With Google Maps Platform, we’re doing more than just helping parents find and send their kids to the highest-quality schools possible. Parents and advocacy groups can also use it to push for greater innovation and equity in education.

Business plan for a private kindergarten with calculations

Despite the fact that kindergartens quickly attract customers, during the launch of a business, it is necessary to carefully consider a marketing strategy and draw up a marketing plan.

It is necessary to start the advertising campaign of the kindergarten one month before its opening. Several tools are used to successfully enroll children in kindergarten:

  • signboard,
  • window advertising,0008
  • internet,
  • cross-marketing,
  • word of mouth.

Kindergarten sign

The sign is a very effective tool to attract customers, because the kindergarten services are mainly used by those parents who live in the immediate vicinity. However, using a sign as a tool to attract customers is possible only if the kindergarten is located on the ground floor or in a private house. We not only develop a bright, memorable layout of a sign, but also pass on the algorithm for its approval.

Advertising in kindergarten windows

Advertising in windows is the second most effective marketing tool, but, again, it has limitations. It can only be used if the kindergarten is located no higher than the third floor. The higher the floor, the less effective such advertising works. Layouts are developed for our Partners, individually for each room.

Kindergarten leaflets

Nowadays, people are tired of the huge number of leaflets they receive in mailboxes and on the street. However, this tool can be very effective. Indeed, in leaflets we describe the advantages of our kindergarten, and clients receive recorded contacts by which they can be contacted. In order to increase the credibility of the leaflets and prevent the client from throwing them into the nearest bin, we, firstly, develop a colorful design project, and secondly, we entrust the distribution of leaflets to our branded life-size puppet, with which children can play and take pictures.

Kindergarten Internet Marketing

The Internet is of great importance in the life of a modern mother. Therefore, the first thing we do is create accounts on the most popular social networks. From the very beginning of our activity, we have been actively recruiting an audience with the help of targeting and interesting publications.

In addition, information about the Partner and his contact appears on the main site, and requests received from the site are immediately transferred to the Partner.

Be sure to place a point on Yandex and Google maps. This helps customers find a kindergarten faster.

Cross-marketing of the kindergarten

7 children’s goods stores,

  • pharmacies,
  • shopping malls.
  • Cross-marketing is a good tool for informing about the services of a kindergarten, when we agree with related businesses on mutual advertising, i.e. we distribute our leaflets on their territory, and they place theirs with us. All companies that also focus on selling goods or services for mothers are suitable for such interaction.

Before starting work, it is necessary to draw up a marketing plan, in which it is necessary to prescribe the budget, frequency and duration for each tool.

In the future, the marketing plan is adjusted based on their statistics and its effectiveness.

Open a private kindergarten: a business plan with calculations

How to open a private kindergarten, the business plan of which depends on ambitions, initial funds and organizational capabilities? This type of business can hardly be classified as highly profitable; it is not suitable for every locality due to the high cost of the services provided. At the same time, the project itself is not able to bring excess profit to its owner, the monthly income is limited to 100-150 tr.

    General

A private kindergarten is best located in a separate house, which can provide all the necessary playgrounds for children. It is difficult to do this in an apartment, since the yards of modern houses are poorly equipped with playgrounds, they constantly have a lot of vehicles that pose a threat to the life and health of children.

In some cases, they go to convert apartments into private kindergartens. In such options, it is necessary to provide a separate game room and bedroom, kitchen and dining room. The room should be equipped with a sports corner, in which there will be horizontal bars, wall bars, gymnastic balls, and there should be mats on the floor.

Keep in mind that parents will pay from 10 to 25 tr. for each child. per month. This is a lot of money, and parents will want to make sure that they are not giving it away for shabby walls and poor furnishings. The room should be in good repair.

The main value of such an institution is the child development program. Parents will constantly compare the development of their children with others who attend public or other private kindergartens. Therefore, the main criterion for evaluation will be the development of children, their abilities and skills. Emphasis should be placed on the development of reading, counting, visual arts skills. On the other hand, a small number of children allows educators to objectively pay more attention to children, which will certainly affect their level of development even with conventional training programs.

Don’t be fooled by the high cost of services. Groups in such gardens are small – 10-15 people. The number of groups is 1-2, no more. And the company’s income is mainly spent on rent, payroll, food for children. In order to increase the income of such an enterprise, it is necessary either to build (rent) a large room in which 5 groups or more can simultaneously be located, or to develop the project by opening branches throughout the city.

An important point! Such establishments are not successful in regions where the average salary is below the general level in the country. If a family with two working parents earns 35-40 tr. or less, then give 15-20 tr. for a private kindergarten it will be unprofitable for them.

What documents need to be issued?

If a private kindergarten is not going to disguise itself as a development center, then its activities are carried out in accordance with the law “On Education”. This means that any legal entity that carries out educational activities is required to issue a license for this. It is issued by the State Educational Authority of a specific subject of Russia. You will have to apply to the relevant education authority of the region – the ministry, committee or department.

The following documents must be submitted to this authority:

    • constituent documents of the enterprise;
    • lease agreement or documents for the ownership of the premises;
    • conclusions of the sanitary and epidemiological station (SES) and firefighters on the compliance of the premises with the requirements of sanitary, building and fire standards;
    • detailed educational program;
    • data on teaching staff and their qualifications;
    • data on the estimated number of children in the institution;
    • information on the availability of educational and methodological literature;
    • data on the material and technical base.

But most often they go the other way. The good news is that there is no need to obtain a license for developmental and educational activities. Recreation licenses are not required. This means that you do not have to coordinate the selected premises with a representative of government agencies. To do this, you need to call a private kindergarten a development center. In this case, you will have to deal only with representatives of the SES and firefighters, who will periodically come with a check. Only the organizers of the development center will have to explain to the inspectors why children who are in the center part-time need cribs.

    Selection of premises

We have already mentioned in passing the premises required to open a private kindergarten, but we should dwell on this issue in more detail. Such premises should not be located closer than 50 m to parking lots, garages, gas stations, freeways and any harmful environmental objects. The ceiling in the room must be at least 3 m high, and the window sills must be located at a height of at least 60 cm from the floor. The main windows should face south and east.

There should be no concrete floors. They must have an insulated base. Make sure that the walls of the rooms are resistant to moisture. One child is entitled to 6 m 2 – this should be taken into account when forming a group. 15 children will already demand 90 m 2 . For a kindergarten, the law necessarily requires the presence of a playroom, a bedroom, and a locker room with a dining room.

In the case of strict adherence to the law, it will not be possible to obtain a license for a room that has been converted from an apartment.

Kindergartens can only be organized in non-residential premises.

It is very problematic to transfer an apartment from a housing stock to a non-residential one. It is best to rent a private house, the rent of which will cost from 20 tr per month. Such a house already has its own courtyard, which can be used for a playground.

Even better if you can rent premises in the kindergartens themselves. They have already been made taking into account all the requirements, and renting them costs 1.5-2 times cheaper. But it is problematic to find empty premises of existing kindergartens. You can count on luck only in the old areas, in which many preschool educational institutions were previously built. In order not to search in vain, contact the district State Administration, the department that deals with communal property. In it you can find out exactly which premises suitable for kindergartens are currently idle. Additionally, in this department you can find out about the current regulations, and about the authorities to which you need to contact.

Expenses and incomes of the project

It was mentioned above that the kindergarten will not bring much income. How does it look in numbers? The room itself still needs to be prepared for a kindergarten. The business plan for a private kindergarten should include the following expenses:

    • repairs – 150 tr;
    • purchase of furniture (tables and chairs, beds and lockers) – 60 tr;
    • purchase of necessary equipment (refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher, stove) – 80 tr.;
    • purchase of educational games, toys and children’s books, consumables in the form of pencils, albums, plasticine – 25 thousand rubles;

Total, the cost of preparing the premises will amount to 315 tr. What expenses should be provided for the enterprise per month? If a kindergarten or center is designed for 15 children, then it is necessary to hire two educators and one nanny, so the payroll will be 60 thousand rubles.

The rental of premises, as indicated above, will take from 20 tr. You will have to spend 35 tr on food. Utilities will cost 7 tr. Unforeseen expenses – 10 tr. The total amount that will be withdrawn monthly is 112 tr.

Payment for the services provided per child is 15 tr. There are 15 children in total, which means that the income of the enterprise will be 225 tr. We subtract monthly expenses and taxes, it remains 106 tr. net profit. It cannot be said that the income of the enterprise is low. And if the room allows you to keep 2 groups of 15 people, then the income will already exceed 200 tr. per month.

But keep in mind that the rent can be twice as high, the cost of the service is cheaper, and the payroll will require more money. In addition, the occupancy of groups is 60-80%, which further reduces the profitability of the enterprise.

    Organization of the institution

The main product that is provided to customers is the preparation of the child for school, his general development. If a license was issued for an institution, then the education program is adjusted in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. This does not mean that you cannot introduce your own methods that will more effectively prepare and develop children. But the minimum requirements that are put forward to the licensee will have to be met.

The program must include visits to theaters and museums, parks and architectural monuments. Plan special events in the form of children’s birthdays, sports activities.

To stand out with some advantage over other similar private and public institutions, focus on some benefit. It can be entry-level English or memory development. If children begin to show high performance, there will be no end to customers who are willing to pay big money for the services provided. This will be a signal that you need to expand your business, create separate branches.

Other services can be provided on the basis of such a kindergarten.

Childcare Reviews — Loving Arms Child Care

We asked some of the children’s parents for comments on what they thought of our service, and the answers they gave were extremely heart-warming. Below are some of the comments which we received from parents all over Northeastern Kansas. We sincerely hope that you will read them and imagine your child being safe in our facility.

“ As a former employee of only being there 6 months it was such an amazing experience and opportunity to learning new things to becoming a teacher one day. The staff are awesome and so genuine, they made me feel so comfortable; we talked about anything and everything. The company itself is also really professional and has the structure and organization that parents are looking for to let not only anybody take care of there babies. I will miss them so much! “

    Ashlee Green

My kids have been going here before and after school for about 6 months. The teachers are amazing, informative and loving. They always communicate and are transparent about everything. I was nervous at first but I am comfortable with their care now. They love it and have made many new friends. Alli and Tyrone are always very welcoming. I love the safety measures they have in place and feel super safe with my kids being here. If you are looking for quality care with a safe and fun environment, then this is the place for you. Easily the best child care facility in town.

    Roxi Bentley

Our daughter is (almost) 3 years old and has been going here since before she was 1. We were in a crunch for finding childcare when we moved here and went with the first place we could find that had availability… best choice ever! As a mom, it can be hard to trust just anyone with your child and I couldn’t ask for better caretakers for my child. They love her and treat her as their own and every morning she wakes up super excited to go to “school” because she wants to see her teachers and friends. Their communication is fabulous and are always there to help with any questions you may have.

    Stephanie L

My son has been going to Loving Arms since 2017 (going on 4 years). I first met with Tyrone for a tour; his experience and professionalism made me feel comfortable right away. Their rates seem comparable. (Although I do wish you could get a “week off” once a year – even for part-timers) I was more than impressed with their summer program. They really work hard to keep the kids occupied! One day it was movies… another bowling… a couple days at the pool… Then there was mini field trips. My son LOVED his summers! The staff is friendly and informative. I’m pleased with their security and log in procedures. You can even log in on their web site and check on your lil ones. Loving Arms – as far as our experiences – is just fantastic! I’ve recommended them a few times, and will gladly do it again!

    Stephanie S.

Our son started at Loving Arms when he was only a few months old and is now 3.

We cannot thank the staff enough for the amazing care that they have provided our son, especially Tyrone, Latashia, and Tyronica. Our son has learned so much from the staff from shapes, to animals, songs, dances, numbers, special events and celebrations and so on the staff is always creating memorable learning that our son can’t wait to tell us about.

Just as importantly, the staff truly made us feel like family. Our son knows all the staff members names and they always make our family feel welcome at pick up and drop off. We will truly miss seeing everyone on a daily basis and would highly recommend this daycare as a great place for your child. Thank you Loving Arms!

    Ben Trenary

Our daughter (turns 1 tomorrow) has been going here since she was 4 months old. The teachers and the staff are amazing. Always so friendly, courteous and professional. I can tell my daughters teachers (Ms Alex and Ms Betty) truly care/love her and take amazing care of her. Alli and Tyrone are also other huge favorites of my daughter. When I say they are amazing she will literally jump out of my arms to go to them and give big hugs or play. I think that speaks volumes of the care provide!!! Thank you for all you guys do!

    Shawn Bueckers

Today I went in for a tour and to check availability! They did not have an opening for my two year old but what they did have was a very friendly and inviting facility. The staff was amazing and extremely knowledgeable, I felt so at peace at Loving Arms after touring other daycares today and not finding the home atmosphere with the nurturing staff. Today I found a safe, homey, and welcoming atmosphere with the most nurturing staff ever at Loving Arms! I would highly recommend their services to everyone especially the mothers who are always so worried about your little ones. Thank you Loving Arms for such an amazing tour and the warm welcoming!

Also, the facility was VERY clean and organized ❤️

    What’s Available?

Child Care Assistance (CCA) is available to the children of income-eligible parents who are absent for a portion of the day due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training or PROMISE JOBS activities.  Assistance may also be available for a limited period of time to the children of a parent looking for employment.

Child care services are provided to people participating in activities approved under the PROMISE JOBS program and people who receive Family Investment Program (FIP) assistance without regard to Child Care Assistance eligibility requirements if there is a need for child care services.  PROMISE JOBS staff administer Child Care Assistance for child care needed to participate in PROMISE JOBS activities.

Child care services for a child with protective needs are provided without regard to income.  To receive protective child care services, the family must meet specific requirements, and child care must be identified in the child’s case permanency plan as a necessary service.

    Eligibility

You may get help from the Child Care Assistance program if you:

    • Have a child who needs care who is under the age of 13 (or under the age of 19 if the child has special needs).
    • Are a member of a Family Investment Program (FIP) participant household.

If you’re not a Family Investment Program participant, you may qualify for the CCA program if you:

    • Have a child who needs care who is under the age of 13 (or under the age of 19 if the child has special needs) and have income under the program’s limits and work an average of 28 hours per week; or

The Average Salary of a Car Salesman | Work

By Jayne Thompson Updated July 24, 2018

If you’re outgoing, relationship-oriented and possess the gift of gab, you might consider a career as a car salesperson. These individuals know a lot about the vehicles they’re selling and have the type of persuasive selling skills that can overcome resistance and turn a “maybe” into a “yes.” Most car salespeople work for a dealership, and their base salary may be fairly paltry as most of their income comes from commissions based on the dealership’s gross profit on the car. So, the more cars you sell, the more money you earn.

    Job Description

First and foremost, you’ll be selling cars. There are a number of tasks associated with this objective, including talking customers through the features of various models, taking them on test drives, negotiating the sale price and trade-ins, explaining options for warranties and financing and coordinating after-sales services, such as repairs and valeting. You’ll also be responsible for preparing the paperwork associated with a sale. Outstanding customer service skills are essential for this job in order to enhance the buying experience for the dealership’s customers. You’ll also need solid persuasive skills to hit your sales targets and earn a good commission.

    Education Requirements

There are no formal education requirements for this position, and most car salespeople enter the field with a high school diploma or GED. More important are a good work ethic and the ability to get along with a broad customer base. While some dealerships prefer experienced sales consultants, most appreciate that you have to walk before you can run and will train you for the job. An associate degree in business or marketing, or a qualification in automobile repair, could increase your job or promotion prospects in the long run.

One of the biggest perks of being a car salesperson is the ability to make more money the harder you work. Generally, the yearly income for a car salesperson is $39,903 in 2018. This amount is the median salary, or the salary in the middle if you lined all the car sales consultants up from the lowest to the highest paid.

    Industry

Car salespeople generally work regular business hours including weekends and holidays, although it really depends on the dealership. There may be opportunities for overtime during busy periods. Most of the working day is spent at the dealership, but you’ll also be taking people out on short test drives. The job can be relatively strenuous when bending and stooping is involved, and you’ll spend most of the day on your feet. You may have to do some studying to learn about the cars you’re selling. Purchasers ask every question under the sun, and you’ll stand a better chance of making sales if you can communicate the benefits of the car properly.

    Years of Experience

While most car salespeople are paid a base salary, this may be somewhere around the minimum wage. The majority of their earnings is based on how much they sell, which is called commission. The exact percentage varies from dealership to dealership, but it usually falls in the 20 to 25 percent range. That’s a percentage of the dealership’s profit, not the ticket price of the car. So, if you sell a car for $20,000 and the dealership makes a $5,000 profit, you’d earn $1,000 based on a 20-percent commission rate.

Since more sales equal more money, it’s hard to put a figure on the average car salesman salary across the industry – it really depends on your location, customer demographics, type of cars you’re selling, reputation of the dealership and other variables. For most car sales consultants, the pay scale ranges from $23,574 to $95,627 annually, with the median salary coming in at $39,903. Align yourself with a successful dealership and put the work in, however, and the payout could be well into six figures.

    Job Growth Trend

Employment for all sales consultants, which includes car salespeople, is expected to grow by just 2 percent by 2026. This much slower-than-average growth rate is largely due to retailers taking their services online and away from brick-and-mortar stores. The rise in online sales doesn’t affect car sales consultants, however, since most people still prefer to visit a dealership in person when contemplating a new car purchase. What does affect the number of jobs is the overall economy. People tend to buy cars when wages are growing and disposable incomes are high, boosting demand for car sales consultants.

The Complete Guide Know Your Pay in 2023

How much do car salesmen make?

To put it simply, the average car salesman salary in the US is $55,811 per annum.

However, the salary of a car salesman depends on several factors, especially one’s skills as a sales representative.

Your salary will largely depend on how you pitch the sale to the customers and the number of cars you can sell in a month. The more cars you sell, the higher your income.

How much commission does a car salesman make?

Depending on the dealership, your car salesman commission is generally up to 25% of the commission on front-end profit for every car they sell.

Besides your skills as a salesman and the dealership company that you work for, location is another factor that comes into play while determining your salary.

Read on to learn more about the following FAQs related to car salesman salary:

    • How do car salesmen get paid?
    • What is the average car salesman’s salary based on car dealership companies?
    • Which US cities pay the highest salaries for car salesman jobs?
    • What are some car salesman requirements?
    • What are some must-have car salesman skills?
    • How can you improve your car salesman skills?
    • What are some of the common car salesman salary FAQs?

How Do Car Salesmen Make Money?

Unlike other job profiles, a car salesman may or may not earn a fixed wage (depending on the dealership).

Rather, your car salesman’s salary is directly dependent on your sales skills and the ability to persuade customers.

They generally earn through commission rates which depending on the dealership company, can range between 20% to 40%.

So how much money do car salesmen make per car?

If you sell about 10 cars in a month and on average you make about $40k per year, you will be earning $330 per car.

But, that’s just a rough estimate. Other factors such as back-end income and car sale quotas also come to play when determining a car salesman salary.

Every dealership has different set quotas that car salesmen have to meet every month.

Likewise, if you manage to sell more than the number of cars the monthly quota calls for, you may get awarded a higher commission rate for the following sales.

However, this scenario can also be reversed. If you fall short of meeting the monthly sales quota, you will earn less commission and there’s a chance that you might even lose your job.

Other than that, the dealership might offer their sales representatives bonuses under various conditions like if they sell x number of cars in 6 months or so.

    Andrey Sobolev

    Author profile

Profession: salesman in a car dealership

    City: St. Petersburg

    Age: 23 years 900 03

    Experience: 1 year

Income: 50,000-300,000 R/month depending on sales

    Choosing a profession

After the army, I got a job at a St. Petersburg water utility and worked as an installer for a year and a half, earning 40,000. Over time, I realized that this is the most unpromising job, because I do not have a higher education, and it’s hard to climb the career ladder in state structures without connections.

I always wanted to make money by communicating with people, I like to communicate and help people. I started looking for alternatives, realizing that I can earn with my head. I started with sales, worked a little at Beeline selling the Internet – a good experience, but not enough money. Quite by accident I got into a car dealership, through friends they invited me for an interview.

It was hard, the market is very competitive, but here I have no experience and no one believed in me, even myself. I did an internship for 2 months, getting 18 thousand, and after that everything went smoothly, I didn’t think about money, but about how work gives me pleasure. Gaining experience, I went out in one month with an income of 320 thousand, I myself was shocked and sellers with many years of experience were also surprised!

Currently I work in a car dealership and I really like it, especially since the salary is good, but you need to try very hard not to get out of the rut, because laziness and low efficiency are solved very simply by dismissal.

    The essence of the profession

I am engaged in the selection of cars for people, to some extent I make decisions for them if they are not ready 🙂

I like that people thank me for my work and leave satisfied, although not always with current prices and market conditions.

The most difficult thing is to keep the brand, constantly smile and be friendly, people suck energy very much, but this is the specifics of the work. Not suitable for everyone, high turnover, hard morally, when you burn out, you need to find the strength in yourself to move on. And also there is no salary – what you earned is what you ate.

    Place of work

Official dealer. I’ve been working for a year. Employees are valued, very much so, but only if they are efficient and bring income to the company. Fairly strict with discipline.

    Working day

I arrive at 9. We play meetings with senior salespeople (listen to calls, play a presentation, imitate a closed client, etc.). During the rest of the day, I deal with the turnover – accepting incoming traffic, issuing cars, signing, working with existing clients, test drives.

    Case

One day an older man came with his wife, they drove a car with a mechanic, they also wanted a mechanic. Having decided to test my abilities as a salesman, I tried to convince the person that the automatic was much better and more practical, although the person had no experience in driving an automatic. After a couple of hours, I won, we signed a contract, signed a loan and postponed the issue to the next day.

When I inspected the car for delivery, I realized that it was a mechanic (I chose the wrong car in the program), although we agreed on an automatic machine, my jaw dropped, I didn’t know how to tell this to the client, because he is already crazy about the machine.

There was no way out, I said it like it was, he was very angry and sad and until the last he could not accept it, but in the end we made a discount of about 150,000 to smooth the situation and everything was decided. I was very ashamed, but now I check everything thoroughly before making a contract.

    Part-time jobs

You can earn extra money by going out on your weekends and taking an additional amount of traffic, but you need to work it out with high quality and bring results, otherwise you can be disconnected from traffic.

    Income

Earnings from 18 thousand and without a ceiling, it all depends on you: you sold a lot – you earned a lot. My personal record is 300+ thousand in a month, it was hard and fun.

    Expenses

    1. I bought a car with a loan of 31 thousand per month.

    2. I help my mother with a mortgage of 20 thousand per month.

    3. iPhone in installments 10 thousand

    4. Credit cards – total debt 200+.

    5. Personal expenses per month 30-50 thousand (gasoline, restaurants, clothes, spending on a partner).

    Savings

I have to save when there is a hungry month, and in general I try to wean myself from rash spending. But at the age of 20 it is very difficult, I have never made money like this and I want everything 🙂

    Financial goal

I want to pay off the car in a year. And start saving for a town house.

I want to close all loans and start investing (it’s hard to save money, they make my eyes hurt, I want to spend everything!

I want to travel around Europe.

    Future

I really like working as a salesperson and don’t plan to change anything in the near future.

I want to get a stable income of 300+ as there are colleagues who get it every month, given that the work is not stable.

Perhaps in the future I will go online, studying the topic of online marketing.

Professions. Readers share their professional experience.

The Top 15 Interview Questions to Ask Job Candidates

Stop searching. Start hiring with Robert Half.

It’s time to fill that vacancy on your team, and the pressure is on to find a job candidate with all the skills and professional experience you need. But can you determine that — and more — from just an interview? It’s possible if you pose smart queries.

Whether you’re meeting virtually or in person, you need to prepare thoroughly as an interviewer. You should ask questions that will help you gauge an applicant’s interest in the job and company, enlighten you about their work history and career plans, shed light on their values and work habits, and reveal their strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills.

Of course, you’ll also want to ask questions specific to the role you’re looking to fill. There are also other types of interview questions that help you dig deeper, such as close-ended and open-ended interview questions.

But with these questions for an interview, you should be able to get a good sense of whether this potential employee could be a successful member of your team. So, let’s jump in with 15 of the best questions to ask an interviewee, and why.

    1. What do you know about our company, and why do you want to work here?

You’d think with the easy access to information online today, most candidates would do their homework, but that’s not always the case. Some applicants may not even know what type of business the company engages in. Ask this interview question, and you’ll quickly discover who is sincerely interested in working for you — and who isn’t.

    2. What skills and strengths can you bring to this position?

Did the interviewee blindly apply to your opening, or did they consider how they match your needs? This question can help you find out. Applicants should be able to think critically about how their abilities will benefit your unique team.

    3. Can you tell me about your current job?

This is a great open-ended question to ask a potential employee that can help you evaluate communication skills while gaining insights into an individual’s background that goes beyond the resume.

    4. What could your current company do to be more successful?

This inquiry can give you a sense of whether interviewees see the big picture at their organizations. It may also reveal why they really want to leave their current jobs.

    5. Can you tell me about a time when you had a disagreement with a boss or colleague and how you handled the situation?

This is one of the best questions to ask an interviewee because you’ll get a sense of their conflict resolution abilities. What tone does the person use when talking about the other people involved? Were they able to handle the situation described appropriately? Did they find common ground? Emotional intelligence is keenly needed in almost every job.

    6. Do you work best alone or on a team?

What kind of work will the candidate perform if selected for the position? This question helps determine if they’re suited to the types of assignments they’ll receive. Regardless of whether they’ll work remotely or in the office, someone who enjoys solitary work and long stretches of uninterrupted time may not thrive in a position requiring collaboration or multitasking.

    7. Why are you leaving your current job?

Does your job opportunity provide an alternative to the factors (lack of professional development, management problems, etc.) that made them unhappy in their current role? If so, showcase those benefits. But keep an eye out for candidates with unrealistic expectations.

    8. How would your coworkers describe you?

This top question to ask an interviewee can help shed light on the candidate’s soft skills and how they might work with the other members of your team. Understand the strengths of your current staff members and be on the lookout for a candidate who will complement those.

    9. How would your boss describe you?

This may give you a sense of the candidate’s relationship with previous managers. Reliable? Prompt? Efficient? Keep in mind, though, who you’re asking. The answer will be simply their opinion of what the boss might have said. That’s why it’s still critical to check references. Request a list of contacts and give former employers a call to hear how their impressions align with the candidate’s.

    10. Where do you see yourself in five years?

A job candidate with professional drive can be a valuable asset to your organization. Look for someone engaged in their career with clear goals, and consider mentioning how your organization can help them achieve those objectives. Finding a prospect who is interested in career advancement and sees opportunity with your company increases the chances that they’ll be happy in the long run.

    11. How do you manage deadline pressure?

Technology projects often have very tight deadlines. So, asking your potential hire how well they perform under pressure can be worthwhile. Try to dig a little deeper by encouraging the candidate to offer an example of what they have done in the past to ensure a project stayed on deadline when it looked like it might miss the mark. Or, if the candidate could not meet a critical deadline despite their best efforts, how did they handle it?

    12. In your most recent role, was there a time when you had to overcome a significant challenge?

Use this question to get a sense of an interviewee’s critical thinking and analytical skills. You should also pay attention to how the candidate describes their behavior when faced with a challenge. Did they struggle, or did they devise an action plan and see it through?

    13. What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on in a past position?

Ask this interview question to determine if the applicant would likely enjoy the work available at your company. Do the types of tasks they find fulfilling align with the job description for your position? Making sure employees find their work professionally satisfying is one of the most important factors in retention.

    14. What’s one fact that’s not on your LinkedIn profile?

Here’s another open-ended question to ask an interviewee that can help you uncover some interesting insights. It could spark some conversation about a hobby outside of the candidate’s 9-to-5 life or even a compelling story that reveals more about their strengths and motivations. This question can help you understand not just what a job candidate has done, but why.

    15. Do you have any questions for me?

This question typically wraps up the interview. The most serious candidates will likely have a few relevant questions prepared to ask a hiring manager. However, the candidate may have already asked their questions if the discussion was long and detailed. In a case like this, it’s OK if a candidate doesn’t have a list of questions at the end of the interview.

25 Top Questions To Ask An Interviewee (2023)

When conducting interviews to fill critical job vacancies it’s important to ask the right questions of the interviewee and reveal the best answers ensuring a more informed hiring decision.

These 25 interview questions for interviewees will help the interviewer get to know a candidate better before making a decision to bring them aboard their company.

    1. What attracted you to apply for this position?

By asking this question you, as the interviewer, should be able to gauge if job seeker has an enthusiasm for the job opening or if they just applied blindly to the position.

You could also review the experience in their resume with the job opening and ask them how they would react to specific situations.

    2. What steps do you take when making decisions?

This ice breaker question will give you insight into the interviewee’s critical thinking skills and organizational processes they apply to decision-making situations.

Is their process well thought out and organized or is it merely done on the fly?

    3. What has your typical role on a team been?

This question will give you insight into how previous employers viewed the interviewee as well as how the candidate may interact with fellow employees.

Were they ever given charge of projects, or were they all ways in more of a supportive role?

    4. How would your colleagues describe you?

Asking this will give you a better idea of how they view themselves in the eyes of others and should reveal clues on their ability to work within a team environment.

Are they known as the quiet one, the goofball, the communicator, the workaholic, or something else?

Make sure to develop and refer to your ideal candidate personas to see if the answer aligns with the favorable personality traits you are looking for.

    5. What motivates you to work?

It is a simple question but requires the interviewee to exhibit a great amount of thought and often unlocks valuable discussions from a candidate looking internally for what truly motivates them.

If they only answer at the surface level with something like “I relish a challenge”, this can convey that they are a less-than exceptional candidate.

You may need to probe further do extract a deeper understanding of their motivations.

    6. Name a work accomplishment that makes you proud?

With this line of interview questioning, you will learn about the job seeker in more depth and get a better idea of the types of work they have achieved from their previous and current company.

This also gives the interviewee an opportunity to showcase some of their strongest qualities and any leadership skills they may have.

    7. Why are you a fit for this opportunity?

This interview question will help you get a feel on if the applicants have done serious preparation in getting to know your company.

You don’t want your organization to be a random job they applied for to get a paycheck, only to leave your company for a different opportunity in a few months.

    8. Speak about some of your coworker relationships

Personalities on teams are different. This line of interview questioning sheds light on how they interact with others and will help you determine if the interviewee has the potential to be a happy productive member of your business.

    9. How do you define hard work in the workplace?

Organizations move at different speeds from one another.

If an interviewee is comfortable working in a laidback environment where hard deadlines are rare then they may not be a good fit for a position in which they have to constantly produce work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

    10. Do you like working with a team or working alone?

This really depends on what opening the job seekers are applying for. Is it a desk job that only requires them to be by themselves self or is it work that demands coordination and communication with others?

If you analyze that the applicants are people who are flexible, willing to do multi-tasking, and wouldn’t be bothered if at times they work alone or with a team, these could be the best professionals to hire.

This question has more importance at this time due to the current remote working environment.

    11. What are some weak points you can work on?

All job applicants have weaknesses in their character or qualifications, and immediately admitting them during the interview can actually be a sign of strength.

    12. What are your greatest strengths to a company?

The ability of a candidate to talk about their strengths and still maintain their humility is a strong indicator of a winning personality.

This also gives the interviewee a chance to explain and align their strengths with the position they are interviewing for demonstrating attributes that will contribute to the company’s goals.

    13. Talk about a critical work situation you solved

It is often in the pressure-filled and stressful situations where professionals and real leaders emerge victoriously and experience their greatest growth gains.

    14. When conflict arises at work how do you handle it?

By asking questions related to conflict you will get a better understanding of the interviewee’s interpersonal skills and personality.

The interviewee’s response may also give you a sense of their ability to resolve and deal with conflict at work.

    15. Why do you plan on leaving your current employer?

Listen closely to how the candidates show their respect for their current boss and company.

Having this type of scrutiny will give you a better idea of how these candidates will treat their supervisors and colleagues if they are hired into your organization.

    16. Reveal something about yourself not on your resume

Sometimes there are quirks about prospective employees that you simply can’t see on a resume.

They may be a good fit on paper, but when you interview them, you may get a sense from their answers that hint at possible trouble for the organization down the road.

    17. How do you deal with tight deadlines?

For interviewees, their most ideal answer should be a version of this: “I review a list of tasks and analyze what are the most urgent and critical matters. I put the most urgent ones on top of the list.

Next, I focus on each task with complete concentration until I finish it before moving on to the next urgent task.

    18. Describe your ideal workspace

Since this is an open-ended question and not answerable with yes or no, let the applicants take their time to describe to you how their ideal work environment would be and see if it matches your current office environment.

    19. How would your current boss describe you?

This question will hopefully give you a better idea of how the interviewee interacts with their current and past managers.

    20. Outline the process on how you set goals

Your best employees are generally driven and goal-oriented. This question will help ensure they have the ability to not only reach goals you would set for them but set their own goals to achieve as well.

The top candidates will be able to explain their goal-setting process in detail, how they set up their goals, break goals into smaller tasks, and measure their success once completing them.

    21. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

An ambitious professional with a clear set of goals for the short, medium, and long term, is an invaluable asset to the company. This is true especially if they parallel their career growth with the company they are interviewing at.

As they grow professionally and financially, the company grows and expands too.

During the interview, confident job seekers will discuss that they seek a company with upward mobility as they help the company prosper.

    22. What do you want to do differently at a new job?

The type of answer here will let you know their line of thinking.

Do they launch into a negative conversation about their current or former boss? Or do they look towards the future excited about the potential in your company?

    23. Have you applied for any other positions?

If the interviewee has been applying for other positions, is a good idea to see what types of positions they have applied for. Are the positions similar to your opening or totally different?

If you speak to a candidate who is applying for many different types of positions in many different fields it may give you an indication that the candidate does not really know what kind of job they want and are just seeing what’s out there.

    24. Have you had any other interviews recently?

A great question if the interview has been going great and you want to know the type of competition your up against.

By probing for where the candidate has interviewed recently. You can establish better timeline on if you should act quickly and extend a job offer.

    25. Do you have any questions for me?

If you pose this question to interviewees, the more interesting and more passionate ones will most likely have a wide variety of questions they wish to ask.

The ones who are more thoughtful and are interested in the job will be the most likely ones to ask intelligent, informative questions which will enrich the interview process.

20 questions you might be asked at an interview

Some companies like to ask you what your ideal job is like. In others, why manhole covers are round and not square. Some employers consider standard interview questions useless and improvise, while others carefully consider each next step. We’ve put together 20 questions you’re likely to be asked during an interview.

Different questions serve different purposes. But most often, employers ask quite expected things related to the personality of the candidate, his professional level, career ambitions, understanding of the work mission, position fit.

    1. “Tell me about yourself.”

You will be asked to do so, so be prepared to share the highlights of your work bio. Use the simple formula “present-past-future”. First, talk about who you are at the moment, what you do, what you can do. Then talk about what brought you to where you are today: a combination of skills and experience. At the end, talk about your plans and prospects.

    2. “Name your strengths.”

It is important here not only to list your best qualities, but also to give an example of how they helped you achieve certain goals and success in your work.

    3. “Name your weaknesses.”

Position your weaknesses as points of growth: tell us about how you plan to work on the shortcomings that you have already managed to fix.

    4. “Why do you want to work with us?”

Here you can demonstrate the degree of preparation for the interview, the level of knowledge about the company, and interest in the job. If you can’t find enough information, feel free to ask your employer questions.

    5. “Why did you leave your previous job?”

It is not necessary to be frank here. If your relationship with management did not go well or you just got bored, the employer will be wary.

    Answer in a positive way

: You would like to see more variety in the work, or the ideal boss, in your opinion, does not bother you after hours.

    6. “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

    Do not try

be accurate in forecasts: here the employer is interested in your train of thought and direction of dreams.

    7. “What are your

    salary expectations

? Be prepared for the fact that after that you will be asked about the salary in the last place.

    8. “What do you plan to do in the first month/quarter of your job if you get this job?”

It’s not scary that you don’t know the intricacies yet, the main thing is to demonstrate an active attitude, a willingness to join the process.

    9. Tell us about your achievements in the previous place

    .

    10. Tell us about your biggest failure.

    11. Do you have children?

    12. How long have you been looking for a job? Are there other offers that interest you?

    13. What exactly did you do at your previous job?

    14. How do you feel about overtime?

    15. What is your latest major project?

    16. Why should we choose you for this job? How are you different from other candidates?

    17. Why did you choose this major/university?

    18. How do you spend your free time?

    19. Do you have bad habits?

    20. What problems do you most often have to solve in your work?

If you already know which company you want to work for, but do not find a suitable vacancy for you, send the employer a message “I want to work for you!”. It will fall into a special folder, and the employer will know about your candidacy.

I want to work for you!

Five questions you should definitely ask the employer at the interview

The interview is in full swing, and you have already managed to tell about your education, achievements and explain why you would like to work in this particular company. What to add to consolidate success and make the right career decision? It is very important to ask the right questions about future work. Moreover, their sequence (which question to ask first, and which one is better not to rush) also matters.

In order not to miss the vacancy of your dreams, read the recommendations of Superjob. ru.

Question one: about the content of the job

Of course, during the interview, you have probably already discussed what your duties will be. In addition, this is usually described in the job advertisement. Therefore, in your question, you need to clarify what remained unclear in the functionality.

For example, you apply for a position as a PR manager in an already existing public relations department. Specify what exactly your role will be in establishing PR communications. What is more important for a specialist accepted into the team – to be a competent and creative writer of texts or a talented organizer?

Another example is an interview for a sales assistant in a perfume shop. You have already discussed that the duties will include advising customers, working with the cash register and displaying goods. Specify exactly how it is customary to advise customers on the trading floor – to wait for their questions or to present information about the assortment of the store yourself?

Questions about the functionality must be asked, even if everything seems clear and understandable to you: this will emphasize your high motivation and show the recruiter that he is a responsible and professional person.

    Question two: about the objectives

Be sure to ask about the strategic objectives of your future work. What does the future employer expect from you, say, in an annual perspective? What are the criteria for assessing the effectiveness of your work?

For example, an applicant for a sales manager job might ask what the sales plan is for next year. Human Resources Inspector Candidate – Ask about anticipated headcount growth and therefore workload.

This will show that you can think strategically and plan your activities. In addition, a clear understanding of their tasks in the company is a real career engine. You will always be able to independently evaluate your work, applying the performance criteria agreed upon at the interview.

Question three: how to quickly join the team

Be sure to ask what your first working days will be like. Is there an introductory briefing or training? Will you have a mentor to turn to for any question? What are the criteria by which the success of the probationary period will be assessed?

This question is especially important if the job will be something new to you. For example, if you used to work in a small company, and now you have come to an international corporation. Or if you were engaged in PR in the field of retail, and now in the restaurant business.

Question four: why did this vacancy appear?

The answer to this question may give you food for thought. If the vacancy is new, then you will have to draw up a work schedule yourself and discuss in detail the responsibilities, as well as strategic goals with the head and HR manager. You will also have to think about the means to achieve these goals – after all, the vacancy is new, and this work has not been done before you.

If the position has existed in the company for a long time, pay attention to the reasons for the dismissal of the previous employee. Of course, they can be very different – the specialist found a more interesting job, failed to cope with his duties, went on parental leave, or was even fired for unethical behavior …

It’s not a fact that the recruiting manager will give you reliable information on such a delicate issue, but it’s still worth asking and thinking.

    Funny Poems for Kids

Funny poems are an excellent starting point when you begin to share poetry with kids. Whether it’s wordplay that makes the poem funny or a joke or a twist at the end, these poems will tickle their funny bone and encourage them to recite it.

    Eletelephony

    Once there was an elephant,
Who tried to use the telephant—
No! No! I mean an elephone
Who tried to use the telephone—

(Dear me! I am not certain quite
That even now I’ve got it right.)
Howe’er it was, he got his trunk
    Entangled in the telephunk;

The more he tried to get it free,
    The louder buzzed the telephee—
(I fear I’d better drop the song
    Of elephop and telephong!)

    — Laura Elizabeth Richard

    At the Zoo

    First I saw the white bear, then I saw the black;
    Then I saw the camel with a hump upon his back;
    Then I saw the grey wolf, with mutton in his maw;
    Then I saw the wombat waddle in the straw;
    Then I saw the elephant a-waving of his trunk;
Then I saw the monkeys – mercy, how unpleasantly they smelt!

    — William Makepeace Thackeray

    The Purple Cow

I never saw a purple cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one!

    — Gelett Burgess

    Our Kittens

Our kittens have the softest fur,
    And the sweetest little purr,
    And such little velvet paws
    With such cunning little claws,
And blue eyes, just like the sky!
(Must they turn green, by and by?)

Two are striped like tigers, three
Are as black as black can be,
And they run so fast and play
With their tails, and are so gay,
Is it not a pity that
Each must grow into a cat?

    — Evaleen Stein

    The Picture-Book Giant

Once there was a fierce, defiant,
    Greedy, grumpy, grizzly giant
In the pages of a picture-book, and he
    Sometimes screamed, in sudden rages,
“I must jump out from these pages,
For this life’s a much too humdrum one for me!
    Fiddle-dee!
Yes, this life’s a quite too quiet one for me!”

So one rainy day he did it,
Took the picture-book and hid it,
Stamped his foot, and shouting loudly,
    “Now I’m free!”
    Boldly started out, forgetting
That he could not stand a wetting!
He was just a paper giant, don’t you see?
    Dearie me!
Just a gaudy, picture giant, don’t you see?

    — Evaleen Stein

    Rebecca

Who Slammed Doors For Fun And Perished Miserably

    A trick that everyone abhors
In little girls is slamming doors.
    A wealthy banker’s little daughter
Who lived in Palace Green, Bayswater
    (By name Rebecca Offendort),
Was given to this furious sport.

    She would deliberately go
And slam the door like billy-o!
To make her uncle Jacob start.
She was not really bad at heart,
    But only rather rude and wild;
    She was an aggravating child…

    — Hilaire Belloc

    Rhyming Poems for Kids

Rhyming poetry gives children the opportunity to anticipate what’s coming next and sometimes have the satisfaction of being right.

Most nursery rhymes are basic rhyming poems. Beyond that, there are endless examples of rhyming poems for kids, some more modern than others.

    A Million Little Diamonds

    A million little diamonds
    Twinkled on the trees;
And all the little children cried,
    “A jewel, if you please!”

But while they held their hands outstretched
    To catch the diamonds gay,
    A million little sunbeams came
    And stole them all away.

    — Mary Frances Butts

    Room For One More

There is always room for one more
I see by his coat he must be a stray,
The untidy look gives him away.
He’s lost his will and is so thin,
Hasn’t eaten since God knows when.
I know as I coax him through the door,
There’s always room for just one more.

    — Author Unknown

    The Forest

The forest is the town of trees
Where they live quite at their ease,
With their neighbors at their side
Just as we in cities wide.

    — by Annette Wynne

    Robin Redbreast

    Goodbye, goodbye to Summer!
    For Summer’s nearly done;
    The garden smiling faintly,
    Cool breezes in the sun;

    Our Thrushes now are silent,
    Our Swallows flown away –
But Robin’s here, in coat of brown,
    With ruddy breast-knot gay.

    Robin, Robin Redbreast,
    O Robin dear!
    Robin singing sweetly
In the falling of the year.

    — William Allingham

    The Cow

The friendly cow, all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might,
    To eat with apple tart.

She wanders lowing here and there,
    And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
    The pleasant light of day;

And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
    And eats the meadow flowers.

    — Robert Louis Stevenson

    What is Pink?

What is pink? A rose is pink
    By the fountain’s brink.
What is red? A poppy’s red
    In its barley bed.

What is blue? The sky is blue
    Where the clouds float through.
What is white? A swan is white
    Sailing in the light.

What is yellow? Pears are yellow,
    Rich and ripe and mellow.
What is green? The grass is green,
    With small flowers between.

What is violet? Clouds are violet
    In the summer twilight.
What is orange? Why, an orange,
    Just an orange!

    — Christina Rossetti

    Ladybird Ladybird

    Lady-bird, Lady-bird, fly away home
The field mouse is gone to her nest
The daisies have shut up their sleepy red eyes
And the birds and the bees are at rest

    Lady-bird, Lady-bird, fly away home
The glow worm is lighting her lamp
The dew’s falling fast, and your fine speckled wings
Will flag with the close clinging damp

    Lady-bird, Lady-bird, fly away home
    The fairy bells tinkle afar
Make haste or they’ll catch you and harness you fast
With a cobweb to Oberon’s star.

    Famous Short Poems for Kids

There is both modern and classical children’s poetry available. The issue of copyright prevents us from including some of the best modern children’s poetry, but you can find examples from poets such as Roald Dahl, Shel Silverstein, and Jacqueline Woodson all over the internet.

Here are some of our favorite classical examples.

    When I Was One

    When I was one,
    I had just begun.
    When I was two,
    I was nearly new.
    When I was three,
    I was hardly me.
    When I was four,
    I was not much more.
    When I was five,
    I was just alive.
    But now I am six,
    I’m as clever as clever.
So I think I’ll be six
    Now and forever.

    — A.A. Milne

    My Shadow

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
    He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

The funniest things about him is the way he likes to grow-
    Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an India rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there’s none of him at all.

He hasn’t got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
    He stays so close beside me, he’s a coward you can see;
I’d think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!

One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
    I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.

    — Robert Louis Stevenson

    Old Mother Hubbard

    Old Mother Hubbard
    Went to the cupboard,
    To give the poor dog a bone;
    When she came there
    The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.

    — Author Unknown

As I Was Going To St. Ives

As I was going to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives
    Every wife had seven sacks
    Every sack had seven cats
    Every cat had seven kits
    Kits, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St. Ives?

    — Author Unknown

    Hey Diddle Diddle

    Hey diddle diddle,
    The Cat and the fiddle,
The Cow jumped over the moon,
The little Dog laughed to see such sport,
And the Dish ran away with the Spoon.

    — Author Unknown

    I’m a Little Teapot

    I’m a little teapot
    Short and stout
Here is my handle (one hand on hip)
Here is my spout (other arm out straight)

When I get all steamed up
    Hear me shout
    “Tip me over
and pour me out!” (lean over toward spout)

    I’m a clever teapot,
    Yes, it’s true
    Here let me show you
    What I can do
    I can change my handle
And my spout (switch arm positions)
Just tip me over and pour me out! (lean over toward spout)

    — George Harold Sanders

There Once Was A Man With A Beard

    — Edward Lear

If you haven’t got a ha’ penny then God bless you!

I would like to peek (peek through fingers)
But I know he’ll never come (shake head no)
Until I’m fast asleep (tilt and rest head on hands together)

    Isn’t it the strangest thing
    That Santa is so shy
We can never, never catch him
    No matter how we try

    I’m An Easter Bunny

Here is a bunny (raise two fingers and bend them)
    With ears so funny
And here is a hole in the ground. (make hole with the fingers of the other hand)
At the first sound she hears,
She pricks up her ears (straighten fingers)
And pops right into the ground. (put fingers in hole)

I’m an Easter Bunny, watch me hop, (hop around)
Here are my two ears, see how they flop. (hold hands at sides of head and flop them)
Here is my cottontail, here is my nose, (wiggle hips, then point to nose)
I’m all furry from my head to my toes. (point to head, then to toes)

How To Choose Poems For Kids

If you’re unsure about how to find suitable poems for children, here are some tips that will help:

    • When you are choosing poems for children, look for examples of poetry that cover familiar topics.
    • Don’t break out the abstract, freeform poetry to share with your children. Stick to poems that rhyme and have a simple, clear, distinct rhythm.
    • The poems you choose can encourage wordplay. That stimulates your child to see words and the way they are used in a different fashion.
    • Your poems of choice should be vivid and allow your child to create a clear mental picture of what’s going on.
    • With young children, the sillier or the funnier the poem is, the better.
    • With younger children, poems that can be accompanied by physical actions are an excellent way to help “paint the picture.”
    • Think about attention spans. The poems here are short enough to keep your child interested right to the end.

Tips for Teaching Your Kids Poetry

To help teach your kids poetry, we’ve put together our best hints and tips.

    • Make it fun. Don’t sit your child down and inform them they’re going to learn some poems. Instead, introduce them casually.
    • If you are going to read a new poem to your child, be sure to run through it so you can read it aloud, without hesitation, and not ruin the experience for you both.
    • Use an expressive voice when you’re reading your child a poem. Different voices for characters, the appropriate emotions, raising your voice or lowering it where appropriate will all enhance the experience.
    • For older kids, have them choose a favorite song, and recite them as a poem. They’ll discover they already know plenty of poetry.
    • Use poems in artwork, crafts, and other places so they are an everyday feature. That way, when the time comes for your child to learn about poetry at school, they’ll have a headstart in poetry appreciation.
    • Dress up as a character in the poem you’re reciting. That will increase their interest.
    • Make it age-appropriate. For toddlers, stick to a poem with four or six lines.

    The Last, Non-Rhyming, Word

Just the word poetry can be an instant turn-off for some people, but don’t let it put you off.

Sharing poems with your child can help you bond, aid their development, and it can be a whole lot of fun.

So use some of our poems or find some of your own, and discover short poems for kids — you’ll be glad you did.

Poems for preschoolers – simple and instructive

    Poems for preschoolers 9001 7

This collection contains funny and exciting poems for preschoolers, which the child will be happy to memorize. And it’s great, because not only does memory train, but also:

    • thinking develops;
    • diction improves;
    • vocabulary is replenished;
    • the child learns to speak expressively, to play with intonation.

Children understand simple rhymes and rhymes very well, so this is a great way to learn and prepare for school. When your child is reciting a poem, ask them to speak with expression, introducing characters – this stimulates the imagination, and also helps develop speech and become a good speaker.

    Loquacious legs

    Legs unable to speak –
They are supposed to be silent.
Feet can walk along the road
For mushrooms in the forest to walk,
Run in felt boots in the snow,
    Ride barefoot along the beach,
They can jump, they can run,
    And, tired, go on foot.
I say this to my mother,
    And she repeats again:
    – Stop dangling your legs!
How many times can you repeat?

    ***

    Mendel sausage pretzel

Mendel sausage pretzel0020 Grab her – and straight into the forests.
    Pretzel-mendel-sausage.

    ***

A booger is crawling on me…

A booger is crawling on me,
Like I’m some kind of weed.
    And a moth sits down,
Like I’m some kind of flower.

    ***

What a howl, what a roar?

What a howl, what a roar?
Isn’t that a herd of cows?
    This is not a cow,
    This is Tanya the Revushka.
    Crying-filled,
    Wiping off with a dress.
    Put Tanya to sleep –
    The girl is crying again:
    Oh, I won’t sleep!
    Oh, put on a dress!

    ***

    “About little Tanya”

    Our Tanya is lost,
Where shall we look for her?
    — Cat, black stockings,
    Have you seen our daughter?
    – Meow, I didn’t see Tanya,
I caught mice in the closet. – Piggy, pink belly,
Do you know where Tanya is?
    – Oink, I slept near the bathhouse,
    I didn’t see your Tanya…
    – Duck, little white neck,
Where is she, tell me soon?
    – Quack, I didn’t see Tanya,
I took the ducklings from the bath. Listen, Pied Chicken,
    Where is Tanya anyway?
    – Oh, I dug in the weeds,
Tanya was not visible there. – Goat, sharp horns,
    Have you seen our baby?
    — Meh, I was jumping across the clearing,
    I didn’t notice your Tanya. — Tuzik, red-haired ear
Do you know where Tanya is?
    – Woof, now I’ll finish my porridge
And I’ll find your Tanya. Tuzik is rushing along the path,
    Here are the tracks …
    Here are the sandals …
    Well, here is our Tanya
    In a bright blue sundress.***

    Sister

    Sister Anya will grow up,
    I will teach her everything:
    Songs to sing and drumming,
    And counting rhymes and writing!
I’ll be with her, not with the kitten
    Run around the wattle fence.
Little sister will grow up soon –
She is already four days old!

    ***

Is it possible for goats not to butt…

Is it possible for goats not to butt,
    If there are horns?
    Don’t let the girls dance,
    If you have legs?
Let’s take a goat by the horns,
Let’s take it to the meadow.
A girl by the hand –
    To our cheerful circle!

    ***

    A spoon is a spoon…

    A spoon is a spoon,
Soup is eaten with a spoon.
    A cat is a cat,
    A cat has seven kittens.
    A rag is a rag,
I wipe the table with a rag.
    A hat is a hat,
    Got dressed and went.
And I came up with the word
    The funny word “plim”
    And I repeat again
    “Plim, plim, plim.”
    Here jumps and jumps
    “Plim, plim, plim.”
    And it doesn’t mean anything
    “Plim, plim, plim.”

    ***

Marina was walking from the garden…

Marina was walking from the garden,
Found a hoopoe under a bush.
    And hoopoe to her: “Doo-doo-doo.
    I won’t live with you.
I’ll run away to the old grandmother,
The grandmother will give me cottage cheese.

    ***

    Legs

    Legs
are dressed up in new boots.
    You walk, legs,
    Straight along the path.
