How To Get Playdough Out Of Hair: 4 Simple Methods

As parents, it’s difficult enough keeping your child still and being allowed to brush their hair, let alone spending torturous time getting playdough out. While removing playdough from your toddler’s hair is no fun, it is made a bit easier with the below tried and tested methods!

How To Get Playdough Out Of Hair

There are a handful of different methods for getting playdough out of your kids hair, each best for different circumstances. These methods have all been tried and tested by the My Toddler Life team to save you the hassle:

Method 1: How To Get Dry Playdough Out Of Hair

If you’ve left it too late to get out, or your child comes home from daycare or school with dried dough in their hair, this is the method for you.

!important;margin-bottom:15px!important;margin-left:auto!important;display:block!important;min-width:300px;line-height:0;margin-right:auto!important”>

You need: wash cloth, hot water, bowl, soap

The idea with this one is to dampen the playdough to simply soften it and wiggle it out with the power of the soapy water!

Simply fill a small bowl with warm water and soap and dampen the wash cloth. Pick up handfuls of hair and gently dampen the hair and playdough with the wash cloth. Twist, pinch and slide down until the dough comes out. And repeat, repeat, repeat.

Method 2: How To Get Soft Playdough Out of Hair

Soft playdough is also quite difficult to get out of hair. The best way to counteract the stickiness is with the smooth silicone of hair conditioner.

You need: shampoo, conditioner, wash cloth, bowl

Massage in conditioner to the whole head of hair (more than you would normally!) and leave a minute or two. Slide playdough out of the hair by grabbing, twisting and gently pulling with the washcloth. Rinse conditioner out & give the hair a good shampoo to get rid of all the excess.

Method 3: How To Get Sticky Playdough Out Of Hair

Like the conditioner above, olive oil is a great solution to removing sticky playdough from hair.

You need: olive oil, damp wash cloth, bowl

Massage in olive oil to the whole head of hair (yep!) and leave a minute or two. Slide playdough out of the hair by grabbing, twisting and gently pulling with the washcloth. Rinse oil out & give the hair a good double shampoo to get rid of all the excess.

Method 4: What To Do When Playdough Won’t Come Out

This bad boy is only for if you are desperate and none of the above methods work, as baking soda can seriously dry out fine childhood hair.

You need: water, baking soda, bowl, wash cloth

Stir baking soda and warm water together (at about a 30/70 split – how much you will need depends on how much hair your little one has and how much playdough is stuck in there!).

Massagemixture in to the whole head of hair (yep!) and leave a minute or two. Slide playdough out of the hair by grabbing, twisting and gently pulling with the washcloth. Rinse mixture out & give the hair a good shampoo to get rid of all the excess and double condition to heal damaged hair

Good luck! .

Playdough Recipe That Doesn’t Stick To Hair: Cloud Dough

Also known as Moon Dough, Cloud Dough is the new homemade playdough on the block – that i’m guessing some genius school kid developed when bored at home – but hey, it works. While not as long-lasting as traditional play doh, this cloud dough recipe will not stick to your child’s hair. Made from 3 simple ingredients – hair conditioner, corn starch and food dye, this recipe is inspired by the legends over at Southern Plate.

Next time your child wants homemade play dough, give this recipe a go and avoid the sticky hair situation!

Cloud Dough Ingredients

  • 2 Heaping cups cornstarch
  • 1 Cup Scented Conditioner I love Suave Coconut or Strawberry

How To Make Cloud Dough

  1. Measure and add your cornstarch to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Measure your conditioner and pour into your bowl of cornstarch.
  3. Use a long spatula to mix your two ingredients until it gets hard to mix.
  4. Use your hands too finish kneading the dough together. One way I do this is to put it all in a gallon zipper seal bag and continue kneading it.
  5. Now it’s ready for play!

Gluten-free playdough Recipe

We like this gluten-free playdough recipe from One Creative Mama

Gluten-Free Playdough Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of white rice flour
  • ½ cup of cornstarch
  • ½ cup of salt
  • 1 Tbsp cream of tartar
  • 1  ½  tsp of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of water (hot, but not boiling)
  • Food Coloring, as desired

How To Make Gluten-Free Playdough

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a medium pot.
  2. Add the vegetable oil, then the water, and continue to mix until thoroughly combined.
  3. Heat the mixture on the stove over low heat for about 3 minutes. I like to stir frequently with a silicone spatula.
  4. When the dough starts to pull away from the sides easily, dump the dough onto parchment paper. Let it cool briefly until you can work it with your hands.
  5. Knead food coloring into the dough until you get the color you desire.

Additional Notes:

  • Don’t overcook the dough. It shouldn’t need more than five minutes.
  • To add food coloring, I use the method I’ve used since I was a kid: Using your thumbs, make a well in the middle of the ball of dough and drop the food coloring into the well. Close up the well with the outside dough, keeping the food coloring in the middle of the ball. Then, carefully begin kneading it until the color is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • You don’t have to use the parchment paper. The dough shouldn’t be sticky. I use the parchment paper to simply keep residue and food coloring off my countertop. Wax paper or a plate would work just as well.
  • If needed, adjust the texture with a small amount of cold water (for dry, crumbly dough) or cornstarch (for sticky dough).
  • Makes about 2 cups of play dough, or about 2 baseball-size balls of dough.
  • Store in tightly sealed plastic bags or containers.

Removing Play Dough from Hair: Easy Steps for a Tough Task

Kids Play Dough

Every kid loves playing with dough. That is something that cannot be denied. However, there is something else too that cannot be denied. Parents do not like the idea of kids playing with dough. Or, rather, let me correct myself – They do not like the idea of kids littering clay around in the house. It is not that parents are against kids playing with clay.

However, there is something horrific about finding dough sticking to the carpets and the sofas. Worst still, imagine clay sticking to your kids hair or to your own. These are a few things that make parents dread the harmless substance. However, there are ways in which you can pluck out this gooey substance from hair and from the furniture as well.  This post is to share with you a simple method using which you can remove play dough from your hair.

The steps for removing play dough from one’s hair are mentioned as follows:

  1. The first thing that you should do is to wet the hair of the kid or of the person who has got dough in his/her hair.
  2. The second thing is to keep is to apply shampoo and wash the hair thoroughly.
  3. When the hair is still wet, you should comb is so as to take out the chunks of clay sticking in it.
  4. The next step is remove chunks and bits that refuse to go away with your hands or nails.
  5. Another thing that helps is a wet towel. Press the hair strands that have dough in them with this wet towel. This will smoothen out the dough and it will come off easily.

Another important tip is that it might take you one or more washes to remove the clay from your kid’s hair. You also might be required to repeat all of the above mentioned steps more than once in case they dough has hardened up. Another trouble with dough is that it sticks to your home’s furniture as well. However, removing it from the corners of your sofa or bed or any other piece of furniture is also not a big deal. All you need to do removing play dough from furniture is the following:

Supposedly, the Lumi Do sticks to carpet while your kid is busy playing. What can you do? Well, there is a list of steps that you will be required to follow. These include:

  1. Pour a little water over the place where the dough is sticking.
  2. Use a brush to scratch the dough off.
  3. In case it doesn’t come off you may be required to use some soap or detergent to get the dough particles loosen up.

These are some of the ways in which clay can be removed from your hair as well as from the carpet or curtains. You would second that probably it is a simple enough way in which you can remove the clay or dough easily. Therefore, you can now give your kid dough to play with, without worrying about whether he or she will stick it in his/her hair or litter it around in the house. You can be assured that now you will be able to easily get Loomy Do off from these tough places.

How to clean plasticine – from hair, hands and carpets

Our children love to sculpt, while adults encourage this creative activity with mixed feelings. after all, then one inevitably has to clean up the consequences of childhood inspiration. Where plasticine just does not get, even if everything is foreseen: both the table and the clothes. It is impossible to list everything that a child can touch with dirty hands or where a sticky piece can fly into.

But it’s not so bad if you know how to clean the plasticine from the carpet. And. how to wash plasticine from toys, hair, hands and other things.

Answer the questions in order. But first, remember that the mass for modeling, which we call plasticine, consists of mineral waxes, polymers, dyes, rubber and paraffin. Each of the components can be influenced in a certain way.

We discussed the method of freezing in the article How to clean plasticine from clothes. It is also suitable for small items such as soft toys, pillows or bags. However, a carpet, rug or hair stained with a sticky mass of a child cannot be placed in a refrigerator. Then, how to remove plasticine, how to get rid of plasticine stains?

Plasticine removal methods

  1. Alternatively, turn the soft sticky mass into a solid that can be scraped off and removed.
  2. Alternatively, soften to a liquid state and absorb into a material such as napkins.
  3. Alternatively, dissolve and remove greasy dye residue with household cleaners or household supplies.

How to remove plasticine from a child’s hair

Do not rush to cut strands of matted hair. How to remove plasticine from hair, even very long and thick, mothers of creative children are well aware. The most difficult thing will be to persuade a small child to be patient.

It may hurt a little and you will have to sit or stand in an uncomfortable position, but it’s worth it. Sticky ugliness can be cleaned without a trace and even with benefits for the hair.

You can first try to remove the plasticine from the hair with a piece of linen or flannel, gently scraping off the sticky mass.

Attention

Make cleansing movements along the hair growth, holding the strand from above with your hand. This way you will cause less pain. When the hair is pulled, it is not very pleasant even for an adult.

Flannel is thick and fluffy enough to absorb most of the melted material. If the child does not want to endure, cries, quit this activity and use another, more gentle and effective remedy.

We take any vegetable oil available in the house. Castor, almond or peach is best, but kitchen vegetable will remove plasticine from hair just as well. It’s just a little harder to wash off. You can use any cosmetic oil.

Information

Now only the ability of vegetable oils to soften plasticine is important for us.

Then you will have to take napkins or paper towels and remove the softened mass from top to bottom, so as not to injure the hair follicles and not cause pain to the child. And the hair is less tangled. After that, rinse your head several times with shampoo with tolerably hot water. Usually these measures are enough to clean plasticine from the child’s hair. Consider that along the way you also made a nourishing hair mask.

Another way to clean plasticine from the long hair of the child in the video. A great way, by the way, if you don’t have time to wash your hair (it’s time to get ready for kindergarten or school), and it will also take a long time to dry your hair. Oil in this case clearly loses to hair conditioner.

How to clean plasticine from carpet

This will be a little more difficult. But again, we proceed from the properties of the modeling mass to harden when exposed to cold and melt when heated.

Tip

No need to try to clean plasticine from a carpet or rug with brushes and scrapers. The area of pollution will increase and it will be extremely difficult to remove everything without a trace. Do not use a vacuum cleaner either. Even scraped small particles inside the bin will soften and clog the filter. If you still have to vacuum, empty the garbage bag immediately.

Cold

You can’t stuff a bulky carpet into the refrigerator, you have to figure out how to bring cold to the place of pollution. The best option is dry ice. If there is an opportunity to get it, consider that half the work is done.

If the modeling material did not leave greasy colorful marks, then the removal of plasticine from the carpet will end in your victory.

However, ice from a home refrigerator is also quite effective. Don’t forget to place the ice cubes in a plastic bag. Having hardened, the plasticine mass is easily scraped off. It is important to remove all the particles without residue until they become soft and stick again.

With heat

With a hairdryer, heat the plasticine stain through a napkin, gently press the napkin with your hand, making wet movements. Changing napkins. We melt the mass until the greasy stain ceases to appear.

It is more convenient to use a hair dryer if the flooring or carpet is synthetic and it is scary to touch them with a hot iron.

An iron is better than a hair dryer for softening. But we don’t iron it, but press the iron against a napkin or paper towel placed at the site of contamination until traces appear on the absorbent material. We change napkins so as not to produce new stains.

Removing greasy stains

It remains to remove residual greasy stains. For this purpose, all store products designed to remove stains from carpet or upholstered furniture are suitable. It is better to use them, since all soap solutions cannot be rinsed out of such bulky items.

If for a carpet the advice to apply a soapy solution and then wash it off with water can still be useful (due to its hairiness, you may not notice the border between the reduced stain and the rest of it), then this method does not work for carpets and flooring.

But household chemicals come to the rescue, which you can pick up at any hardware store. You can also use auto chemicals to clean the interior.

Alcohol Solutions

Oyate spirit or any product containing alcohol can be used to remove plasticine from carpets and rugs. Vodka is also great. It perfectly splits all greasy traces and at the same time dissolves the colored stain. Everything disappears almost without a trace.

Ammonia will clean the carpet perfectly, but its smell will hover around the apartment for a long time, poisoning your life. But if it is possible to leave the house and leave the windows open for a long time, then ammonia is one of the best means of cleaning greasy stains from a fleecy or fabric surface.

In this case, it must be diluted in a glass of water by dripping 10 drops. This is enough to make any greasy spots recede. Wet a cotton pad with the solution and blot, moving towards the center of the stain until it disappears completely.

Attention

If you use ammonia to remove plasticine stains from clothes, then mixed, dyed and synthetic fabrics cannot be treated with it. Only cotton and preferably a dense texture.

Q&A

Is it possible to clean plasticine from carpet with gasoline?

Possible. And it cleans gasoline residual greasy traces perfectly, but it should not be used for a light coating. There may be stains that can only be removed by dry cleaning. Why do you need extra trouble if there are many other ways.

Can plasticine be removed from a carpet with acetone?

You should not use acetone stain cleaners for the following reasons: you cannot know how the synthetics from which your carpet is made will behave. The fibers can “shrink” and instead of a carpet pleasing with cleanliness, you will get a damaged thing. But, if there is nothing else at hand, try applying acetone on an inconspicuous piece for five to ten minutes. During this time, you will see the result and decide if acetone can be used.

How to remove plasticine from your hands

Pour some vegetable oil on your hands. Rub them against each other, as if soaping. The dissolved plasticine will become very liquid. Just rinse it off with water and wash your hands with soap and water.

The problem of how and with what to clean plasticine is now quickly solved. There are many resources in stores that help to cope with the disaster. In addition, there are many home methods that we have told you about.

Therefore, it is not necessary to deprive children of the opportunity to create and develop. Plasticine stains can be dealt with, they are removed both from carpets and from the hair of our children quite easily. Rejoice in the results of their creativity without regard to possible problems.

How to remove plasticine from hair with home remedies

We have all played with plasticine more than once. Although our mothers have already had to use some other trick to eliminate him where we are stuck, now it’s our turn. We fear that this moment will come, but of course, this is not the first time we will come across how to remove plasticine from hair .

This is a kind of molding paste with which babies can make numerous figures. Mothers are always happy about this so that they continue to develop their creative abilities. But, of course, sometimes this creativity gets out of control and reaches the hair. Don’t worry because there are quick fixes to help you!

Without a doubt, baby oil is another of the most recommended products. If you have some of this product at home, you already know what to spend it on. It is ideal, because plasticine compositions will fall apart in front of this product. So for this we are going to put some oil on plasticine, which we stuck in the hair . In this case, we will leave it alone for the best effect. In about ten minutes, that will be more than enough. After this time, it remains only to remove some hot water and while we brush over the area. Of course, always be very careful. Full text of the 2021 US Human Rights Violations Report (6)

(Source: Xinhua News Agency) 08:16.01/03/2022

The Associated Press reported on September 9, 2021 that a survey showed that 53 percent Americans have a negative view of Islam.

In a 2021 report, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said that every year it receives more complaints of bullying and Islamophobic rhetoric. A report released by the California chapter of the council on October 28, 2021 found that more than half of California students surveyed said they did not feel safe in school because they were being bullied because of their Muslim heritage. This is the highest percentage recorded by the California chapter since polls began in 2013.

The results of the survey, published on October 29, 2021 by the Institute of Alienation and Belonging at the University of California at Berkeley, showed that 67.5 percent. Muslim participants experienced the harm associated with Islamophobia. 93.7 percent of the respondents stated that they were emotionally or physically affected by Islamophobia.

Indigenous peoples have long been subjected to severe racial persecution. The US has a long and dark history of violating the rights of indigenous peoples, including Indian survivors of massacres, brutal expulsions and cultural genocide.

An article titled “The United States Must Face Its Own Genocides”, published on the Foreign Policy website on October 11, 2021, notes that over the 19th and 20th centuries, the US government funded more than 350 Indigenous boarding schools that were directed on the cultural assimilation of Aboriginal children by forcibly separating them from families and communities.

Until the 1970s, hundreds of thousands of indigenous children were uprooted from their homes. Many of them were tortured to death in boarding schools where American Indian, Alaska Native, and Hawaiian identities, languages, and beliefs were forcibly suppressed.

The United States bears not only moral, but also legal responsibility for the criminal genocide against its own people, the article says.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Navajo, Cherokee, Sioux, and other Native Americans struggled with disease and poverty, but their concerns were systematically ignored. The Navajo Nation, which is located in Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico, was for some time among the areas with the highest rates of COVID-19 in the United States.

The Guardian reported on April 24, 2020 that early data point to dramatically disproportionate rates of COVID-19 infection and death among Native Americans. Approximately 80 percent. U.S. state health departments have released any demographic data on the impact of coronavirus in a racial context, but almost half of them did not single out Native Americans, but categorized them as “other. ” “We are few because of the genocide,” said Abigail Eco-Hawk, chief scientist at the Seattle Indian Health Board. “If you exclude us from the data, we will not exist,” she stressed.

The Russian news network RT reported on January 8, 2022 that since the 1950s, 928 of more than 1,000 covert US government nuclear tests have been conducted on Shoshone indigenous lands, leaving 620,000 tons of radioactive dust – almost 48 times more than after the nuclear explosion in Japanese Hiroshima in 1945. According to Shoshone spokesman Jan Zabarte, more than 1,000 people from the tribe died directly from a nuclear explosion, many subsequently fell ill with cancer.

The economic gap between races continues to widen. There is a long and systematic economic disparity between ethnic minority groups and the white population in the US, which manifests itself in various aspects, such as employment and entrepreneurship, wages and financial credit.

On April 7, 2021, USA Today reported that, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of the first quarter of 2021, 48 percent of of the roughly 615,000 unemployed in the Asian community have been out of work for six months. This figure exceeded the proportion of long-term unemployed among the unemployed of other ethnic groups.

Alexandra Su, executive director of the Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance in Los Angeles, said Asians in the United States were racially discriminated against and were given jobs in areas such as cooking, laundry and housework, nursing and personal care, which are not valued, whose work is low paid and who have suffered the most during the pandemic.

On July 30, 2021, USA Today reported on its website that a new Gallup poll showed that 59percent Americans do not believe that racial minorities have equal job opportunities.

The Hill newspaper reported on its website on September 11, 2021 that 27 percent of minority-owned small businesses remain closed, much higher than white-owned businesses. White-owned startups are seven times more likely to receive loans than African-American-owned startups during their founding year. Throughout the pandemic, minority-owned businesses have not received equal access to federal assistance and have been hit hardest economically.

CNN reported on July 15, 2021 that about 17 percent African American families do not have access to basic financial services. Among whites, the figure is only 3 percent.

On December 15, 2021, the Los Angeles Times reported on its website that Hispanics only own 2 percent of the general state of the country, although they account for 19 percent. population. The average net worth of white families is more than five times that of Hispanic families.

Structural flaws have led to increased racial disparities in the US. On November 22, 2021, UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues Fernand de Varenne said after a 14-day visit to the US that when it comes to human rights and minorities, the US is the country “where support for slavery has led to one of the most brutal civil wars in a world where racial segregation persisted until the end of the 20th century, and where indigenous peoples faced deprivation, brutality, and even genocide over the centuries.”

The US legal system is structured to benefit and make life easier for those who are richer, and punish those who are poorer, which is why minorities such as African Americans and Hispanics find themselves in a generational cycle of poverty, Fernand de Waren said.

V. Deviation from humanitarian values leads to a migration crisis

The US government has often interfered in the internal affairs of other countries using the “human rights” club. However, the policy of separating migrant children from their families has seriously threatened the lives, dignity, freedom and other rights of migrants. The migrant and refugee crisis has even been used as a tool for American partisan bickering and political infighting. Constant changes in government policy and police brutality exacerbate the suffering of migrants, who have already faced lengthy detention, brutal torture, forced labor and many other forms of inhuman treatment.

Asylum seekers are subjected to ill-treatment by the police. The humanitarian crisis continued to escalate in 2021, with a growing influx of migrants along the southern border of the United States, and increasingly violent means by border guards to expel or prevent asylum seekers from entering the country.

Data released by the US Border Patrol shows that in fiscal year 2021 (October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021), 557 migrants died at the southern border of the United States, more than double the figure for the previous fiscal year and a record since the beginning of the statistics at 1998 year. Media reports say this does not reflect the appalling situation on the US southern border, and “the actual death toll of migrants could be higher.”

The USA Today website reported on November 29, 2021 that more than 7,647 cases of murder, rape, torture, kidnapping, and other violent attacks against asylum seekers had been reported between January and November 2021.

In September 2021, more than 15,000 Haitian asylum seekers lived in appalling conditions under a bridge in the Texas border town of Del Rio, sleeping in squalid tents or mud in sweltering heat and amid piles of rubbish. The United States Mounted Border Patrol brutalized asylum seekers, brandishing whips and rushing at the crowd to throw them into the river. The scene immediately sparked outrage when journalists released their footage.

CNN noted that this is reminiscent of a dark era in American history when slaver patrols were used to control black slaves. The New York Times noted that “outrageous footage was shown of agents on horseback herding migrants like cattle. ” “The US government always seems to say the right thing on racial issues, but all too often its actions fall short of what they say.”

Faced with a torrent of criticism, the US government soon forcibly deported thousands of asylum seekers back to Haiti, most of whom had not lived there for almost a decade after the 2010 earthquake.

On October 25, 2021, the UNHRC Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Racism and the Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent issued a statement condemning the United States’ systematic and massive deportation of Haitian refugees and migrants without an assessment of the situation and called it a violation of international law. “The mass deportations appear to continue the story of the racial exclusion of black Haitian migrants and refugees at US ports of entry,” they stressed.

Dissatisfied with the US government’s brutal treatment of Haitian migrants and refugees, Daniel Footy, the US special envoy for Haiti, angrily resigned after only two months in office.

Immigrant children face prolonged detention and abuse. “And while Biden officially ended Trump’s ‘family separation’ policy, his use of Section 42 resulted in family separation 2.0,” the USA Today 29 website reported.November 2021. This has led to the separation of many minors from their parents.

“More than 5,000 unaccompanied children are in the custody of US Customs and Border Protection,” CNN reported April 23, 2021. Many of them are in detention longer than the 72-hour limit set by federal law, he added.

Redacted documents handed over to human rights group Human Rights Watch after six years of legal battles reveal more than 160 cases of misconduct and abuse by leading government agencies, including US Customs and Border Protection, the Guardian reported October 11, 2021. The papers document events from 2016 to 2021 that range from child sexual abuse to starvation, threats of rape and brutal detention conditions.

Conditions in private detention facilities where migrants are held are poor. Most places of detention in the United States are built and operated by private companies. To reduce operating costs and maximize profits, private companies typically build to minimum government standards, resulting in poor housing conditions and harsh indoor conditions. The lack of oversight has led to the chaotic management of places of detention and repeated violations of human rights. In varying degrees, the physical and mental health of prisoners suffers.

US authorities detained more than 1.7 million migrants along the border with Mexico during the fiscal year 2021, which ended in September. Of these, up to 80 percent are kept in private institutions, including 45,000 children.

“Conditions at the ’emergency reception’ shelter built in the harsh desert at Fort Bliss, Texas are deteriorating,” El Paso Times reported on June 25, 2021.

“About 5,000 children were there, and about 1,500 children are still in the unsettled area, where the conditions in the ‘overcrowded’ tents were like a barnyard, were ‘traumatic’ and dangerous to the health and safety of children,” the article says. . Information was provided to the newspaper by several current and former employees of the institution, volunteers and civil servants. The journalists also had at their disposal the internal e-mails of the asylum staff.

Many immigrants are victims of human trafficking and forced labor in the United States. Tightening U.S. immigration policy, coupled with lax domestic controls, exacerbated human smuggling and labor trafficking targeting immigrants.

A December 10, 2021 AP report states that for years, immigrants smuggled into the US have been forced to work long hours on farms, live in dirty, overcrowded trailers, lack food and clean drinking water, and face threats of violence. The workers’ identity cards and travel documents were confiscated, limiting their ability to seek help.

A human trafficking indictment posted Nov. 22, 2021 on the U.S. Department of Justice website reveals that dozens of workers from Mexico and Central America were illegally taken to farms in southern Georgia, where they were illegally held in inhumane conditions as indentured agricultural laborers, victims of modern-day slavery in the United States.

They were deceived by promising a salary of $12 an hour. The migrants were forced to dig onions with their bare hands, paid 20 cents for each bucket they collected, and threatened with guns and violence to keep them in line. At least two workers died due to harsh conditions and one suffered multiple sexual assaults.

The New York Times website reported on November 11, 2021 that hundreds of workers from India were lured to New Jersey, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, etc. with promises of fair pay and normal hours of work. Instead, they had little free time, the work was grueling and often dangerous, they moved stones weighing several tons and were exposed to health risks due to exposure to harmful dust and chemicals. The report states that the workers were forcibly kept in their places of residence and faced threats, and their passports were confiscated.

The social exclusion of immigrants is becoming more and more serious. Fluctuating, inconsistent and often ignorant of human rights migration policy is the main cause of the border crisis and the tragedy of immigrants. We see how extreme xenophobia has a profound effect on politics. Increasingly fueled by racial discontent, anti-immigrant sentiment and intertwined with domestic political battles, US politicians are increasingly inclined to use methods such as force and coercion to resettle refugees, according to an article published by the Washington Post on August 22 last year. According to another Washington Post article published on October 20 last year, more than 1.7 million immigrants were detained by U.S. Border Patrol along the southern border during fiscal year 2021, the most since 1986 years old. The US government hopes to contain illegal border crossings through tough law enforcement measures that make it harder for illegal immigrants to enter the country, forcing them to cross more dangerous areas. This situation, in turn, exacerbates the humanitarian crisis.

VI. Excessive use of force and sanctions violate human rights in other countries

The United States has always strived for hegemonism, unilateralism and interventionism. The country often uses force, resulting in a large number of civilian casualties. The abuse of unilateral sanctions by the United States causes humanitarian crises, hegemony challenges justice, justice is self-servingly violated, and human rights in other countries are violated for no reason. This has become the biggest obstacle and destructive factor to the sound development of the international cause of human rights.

The US War on Terror has resulted in a large number of civilian casualties. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the United States has launched a series of global foreign military operations in the name of combating terrorism, which have resulted in the deaths of about a million people. USA Today reported on February 25, 2021 that the so-called anti-terrorist war unleashed by the United States has claimed the lives of more than 929,000 people over the past 20 years, according to a “costs of war” study by the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University.

On August 26, 2021, the USA Today website called the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan a complete disaster. Tragedies such as the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and Vietnam show that in the history of Washington, there has been a disregard for elementary humanism for selfish purposes.

During the chaos at the Kabul airport, an American C-17 transport plane took off, spitting on the safety of Afghan civilians. One of them was crushed by a wheel, several people crashed, falling from the body of the aircraft.

Even in the last minutes of the desperate evacuation, the US military continued to launch airstrikes, which led to heavy civilian casualties. However, the US Department of Defense has publicly stated that no US service member will be punished for killing civilians in drone strikes.

On December 18, 2021, The New York Times reported that an investigation found that more than 50,000 US airstrikes in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan were reckless and poorly targeted, killing thousands of civilians. The military is hiding the number of casualties, and the actual civilian death toll is much higher than the military’s published figures. The most obvious case is the US airstrike on the Syrian village of Tokhar in 2016. The military claimed that between seven and 24 civilians “mixed with the militants” could have died, but in fact, the US military attacked private homes and more than 120 innocent civilians were killed.

Ongoing war and instability have made almost a third of the Afghan population refugees, and education, health and cultural services suffer from a lack of funding. A total of 3.5 million Afghans have been displaced from their homes as a result of the conflict, and nearly 23 million are starving, including 3.2 million children under the age of five. When the United States withdrew from Afghanistan, it immediately froze billions of dollars of Afghan central bank foreign exchange reserves, pushing the Afghan economy to the brink of collapse and making people’s lives worse. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Food Program estimated in November 2021 that only 5 percent of Afghans get enough food every day. The New York Times writes that the real winners in the “war on terror” were American defense contractors, and the United States over 20 years in Afghanistan “actually rebuilt not the country, but more than 500 military bases and the personal wealth of those who supplied them.” Only about 12 percent of the recovery aid provided by the United States from 2020 to 2021 actually went to the Afghan government. Most went to American companies such as Louis Berger. From Gulf Today website /UAE/ 19December 2021, an article titled “How the United States Destroyed Iraq” was published. It says that inadequate food supplies and inflation have left Iraqis chronically hungry, and the prevalence of gastrointestinal disease is four times higher than pre-war levels. A shortage of medicines and medical equipment has led to a health crisis in Iraq that is affecting the poor, children, widows, the elderly and other most vulnerable groups the most.

Unilateral sanctions have a negative impact on the inhabitants of other countries. Alena Dukhan, UN Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on human rights, stressed the devastating impact of sanctions on the entire population of Venezuela, as well as on their rights. US sanctions on Iran’s oil sector have resulted in Iran being unable to import enough medical supplies, which affects the Iranians’ right to life and health. The US embargo against Syria has seriously affected the enjoyment by the Syrian people of economic, social and cultural rights. June 23, 2021 UN General Assembly 29voted in favor of a resolution calling for the United States to lift the embargo on Cuba and start a dialogue to improve bilateral relations with the country for the 10th year in a row. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that the United States maintains the embargo and sanctions against Cuba despite COVID-19, which is causing enormous damage to the Cuban economy and society, and the Cuban people are suffering from the harm caused by this extremely inhumane decision.

If suddenly an accident occurs due to your fault, then you will compensate all the damage to the injured party yourself. According to the PCA, the average reimbursement for OSAGO in 2021 amounted to.

If during the verification of documents it turns out that the OSAGO policy is fake, then you may be held criminally liable under Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (forgery of documents).

This policy will help
in difficult times

By purchasing this MTPL policy, you reliably insure your liability to other road users.

You do not have to pay for the repair of someone else’s car if you are at fault in an accident. OSAGO is a real protection against troubles on the road.

Insurance limit for damage to property to third parties.

Insurance limit for harm to life and health to third parties.

What determines the cost of the policy? How to save on OSAGO?

The cost of the OSAGO policy depends on the data specified in the calculation. There are common parameters for all companies that affect the price. This is the power of the car, insurance history, the territory of the owner’s registration, etc. But the price also depends on additional factors established by each company separately. As a result, the cost of OSAGO for different insurers may differ by more than two times. In such a situation, the surest way to save money is to compare available offers by choosing a budget option.

What is an electronic OSAGO? Is it necessary to print the policy?

The electronic OSAGO policy is completely identical to the paper one in terms of conditions and legitimacy. The only difference is in the design: the electronic document comes to the mail as a file. It is not necessary to print it, and traffic police officers can present the policy in electronic form (clause 2.1.1 (1). Traffic Rules of the Russian Federation) – on a smartphone or tablet. However, the driver also has the right to print it out, if it is more convenient for him, and present it on paper (black and white format is quite suitable).

Why buy OSAGO through the marketplace, and not on the insurance website?

If you do not compare the offers of different insurance companies, there is a risk of significantly overpaying for the policy: the very first option may turn out to be the most expensive. At the same time, an independent calculation in 15-20 companies will take several hours, or even a couple of days. The marketplace makes it possible to get the cost of a policy in different companies by entering data only once. Thus, the user saves time and gets the opportunity to choose an offer with an attractive price tag.

What documents are needed to apply for OSAGO?

• Document for the car (PTS or registration certificate) – you will need to specify the details of the document and the characteristics of the vehicle.
• Owner’s passport (or other identification document) – you will need to enter the document details, as well as information about the owner of the car (if the insured is another person, the insured’s passport will also be required).
• Driver’s licenses – you must specify the details of the documents and information about the drivers who will be allowed to drive.
• Diagnostic card (inspection) – if the car is older than 4 years.
• A previous (current) OSAGO policy is optional, but indicating its data can simplify registration, as well as positively affect the number and quality of offers.

How to check the authenticity of an electronic OSAGO policy?

The easiest way is to enter the policy series and number in the appropriate form on the website of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers: https://dkbm-web.autoins.ru/dkbm-web-1.0/policyInfo.htm. You can also contact the insurance company where you bought the OSAGO directly and find out if the policy is registered in the company’s database.

RSA – Russian Union of Motorists

Russian Union of Motorists or RSA is an online information resource dedicated to topical issues of motorists.

The official website of the RSA is an Internet resource of the Russian Union of Motorists. Here are collected materials addressed to motorists and car enthusiasts – everyone for whom cars are an important part of life.

WARNING! This site is the site of the Russian Union of Motorists. The website of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers is not. The official website of the union is located at autoins.ru!

The web resource is dedicated to issues closely related to everything that interests every car owner, as well as those who only intend to purchase their own vehicle. Here you can get acquainted with what OSAGO is – compulsory motor third party liability insurance, CBM – an important coefficient that affects the cost of insurance. Vehicle inspection is also available.

Among other things, the PCA is given the opportunity to learn about the fines that will follow as a punishment for the offense committed (they can be issued both by a traffic police officer and come from video recording cameras). The site will also help answer the question of what a car loan is, as well as choose the right offer from the many available options.

The site of the Russian Union of Motorists is also the latest automotive news, which will allow you to keep abreast of the latest important events in the automotive world. News materials will help to keep abreast of everything related to compulsory liability insurance of vehicle owners, the all-Russian professional association of insurers involved in compulsory motor third party liability insurance, traffic rules and other things.

OSAGO is an insurance policy, the execution of which is mandatory for every vehicle owner. The presence of such insurance is a necessary condition for admission to the management of a particular vehicle. OSAGO can be without restrictions. In this case, any person can drive the vehicle. It may also have limitations. In this case, only those persons who are inscribed in the relevant insurance are allowed to drive the car.

Calculate the cost of insurance will allow the OSAGO PCA calculator, which requires a reliable indication of all the parameters that affect the amount of the insurance premium – the insurance fee that the insured is obliged to pay to the auto insurer, that is, the insurance company or its representative, in accordance with the insurance contract. Among other things, it is possible to get acquainted with the proposals put forward by insurance companies. It is also possible to get acquainted with the step-by-step instructions for obtaining insurance both at the office of the insurer and through the official website of a suitable company.

Here you can also issue CASCO and calculate its cost. Casco can be issued together with OSAGO, which will allow you to protect yourself not only in case of a traffic accident, but also from other damage, as well as theft and theft. The PCA website will also allow you to learn how you can save on insurance, what documents you need to provide to apply for each policy.

Equally important are issues related to the amount of insurance payments, as well as the conditions for receiving them. It is important to know which OSAGO cases are insurance and which are not. The official website of the RSA also allows you to get acquainted with such information.

A significant amount of information on this web resource is devoted to insurance companies, that is, those companies that are licensed to issue insurance policies.

An OSAGO policy already on hand can be checked for authenticity. This procedure is very useful, as it will avoid possible unpleasant situations in the future. The PCA website is a description of the algorithm of actions, as well as a form of direct verification.

Information about the OSAGO Law — the Federal Law “On Compulsory Third Party Liability Insurance of Vehicle Owners”, with the entry into force of which compulsory third party liability insurance finally came to Russia. It is the study of this law that will make it possible to get acquainted with the conditions and procedure for the implementation of compulsory insurance, compensation payments, insurers and the professional association of insurers in Russia.

An important section of the PCA website is the BMF section – the bonus-malus coefficient. This coefficient affects the cost of a compulsory third party liability insurance policy and depends on the accident-free driving.

KBM is calculated for each specific driver and depends on whether such a driver became the culprit of an accident during the previous insurance period, or no accidents were committed through his fault. The more careful the driver is, the more money he can save when applying for insurance. The maximum possible savings is 50% of the cost of the policy for 10 years of accident-free driving.

The site calculates the bonus-malus coefficient, and also provides information on how to check the KBM against the PCA database. A detailed description of the KBM table is also provided, as well as work with it, that is, it is possible to independently calculate the insurance class at the end of the annual insurance period, taking into account the presence of insured events that occurred during the period of validity of previous compulsory insurance contracts. CBM is one of the parameters that affect the cost of the policy. There are a number of other criteria that can change the cost of OSAGO.

The site of the Russian Union of Motorists allows you to check the car. This procedure will be especially useful when buying a vehicle. A vehicle check will let you know the history of the vehicle, information about the periods of ownership, information about participation in traffic accidents, information about fines, and more. All this will allow you to get a reliable picture of what a particular car is.

Attention is also paid to the diagnostic card – a document that is issued to the car owner after passing the vehicle technical inspection procedure. Such a card is one of the necessary documents for registration of OSAGO. It notes the parameters for which the check was carried out, as well as information about the compliance or non-compliance of these parameters with the standards. Due attention was also paid to the procedure for technical inspection of the vehicle, in particular, the timing of maintenance for various categories of vehicles.

The site of the Russian Union of Motorists is also an opportunity to learn more about a driver’s license – a document confirming the right to drive the relevant categories of vehicles. Particular attention is paid to the issues of replacing the VU, including the rules for replacing an expiring document. Information about the medical certificate for a driver’s license.

The PCA website allows you to find out what you are facing with a fine, as well as what its amount is. Here you can also check the presence of unpaid fines, as well as the possibility of paying for the offense committed.

To search for the necessary information, it is enough to indicate the number of the vehicle registration certificate. After the existing fine is found, it will be possible to proceed with its payment. In order to pay fines on time and not find yourself in an unpleasant situation in the future, it is possible to subscribe to receive notifications of fines. To do this, it is enough to indicate the e-mail address to which free notifications of the corresponding content will be sent.

It is possible to check the information using other services that will allow you to find out about the presence of unpaid fines, as well as pay them. Such a check can be carried out not only by the document number, but also by the state number of the car, as well as the number of the resolution.

Information about the fines that may be received for the absence of OSAGO or its use in violation of the terms of the policy, for example, in the case when a vehicle is driven by a person who is not included in the insurance, although such a document has a limited list of persons allowed to drive a particular vehicle.

News and information about traffic cameras, as well as violations that are recorded with their help, which entails fines for the vehicle owner.

Materials according to the European protocol in case of a traffic accident, which allows you to draw up documents about an accident according to a simplified scheme. The procedures are described and receive payments for OSAGO without involving employees of the State traffic inspectorate.

Section for those who are looking for a job in the field of insurance, car insurance, OSAGO, CASCO, KBM check.

News related to OSAGO and PCA, information about changes in traffic rules and fines, information about passing a technical inspection, information about obtaining medical certificates and driver’s licenses.

On the website of the PCA in the section “Compensation payments” it is specified in detail in which cases the victim should apply for compensation to the PCA, and in which cases – to his insurance company. The information is presented in the form of tables. List of auto insurers excluded from the Insurers’ Direct Indemnity Agreement. These are organizations that do not make compensatory payments to victims who have concluded an OSAGO agreement with them. Depending on the nuances, the victim should apply for compensation to the insurer who insured the liability of the perpetrator, or to the PCA.

A detailed procedure for obtaining compensation in each specific case is described on the website of the Union. Here you can also get acquainted with the limits of compensation payments, depending on the date of conclusion of the OSAGO contract of the tortfeasor.

Section on the Green Card. The Green Card is an international vehicle insurance system and a certificate confirming the availability of insured liability to third parties abroad. In the event of an accident, insurance payments will be made by a Russian auto insurer. To date, 48 countries have joined the Green Card, and the functions of the Russian bureau of the system are performed by the RSA.

On the site you can find all the information related to the acquisition and use of the Green Card:

  • Insurance companies selling the card;
  • Documents required for acquisition;
  • Algorithm of actions when getting into an accident in Russia and abroad;
  • Legal acts related to the functioning of the certificate.

Through the “Green Card” section, you can not only get acquainted with frequently asked questions, but also send your question through a special contact form. The response will be sent to the email address specified in the application.

One of the sections of the PCA website is dedicated to the European Protocol, which allows you to independently record the fact of an accident. This is a simplified paperwork, which is carried out without the participation of the police. In the section of the same name, the essence and mechanism of working with the document, its advantages and features are described in great detail. An updated Instruction for filling out the Europrotocol will soon appear in this section, in accordance with the amendments that have come into force in the law “On Compulsory Insurance of Civil Liability of Vehicle Owners”.

In the “Inspection” section, the user will find systematized information regarding this procedure. In the “Register of technical inspection operators” subsection, you can not only get acquainted with the list of operators and inspection points, but also view detailed information about organizations: the number and date of receipt of the certificate, the scope of accreditation and contact information. In the “Accreditation” section, you can get information about the necessary documents and requirements required to obtain the status of an operator or an inspection point. In addition, this section contains thematic legal documents, frequently asked questions and data on trade unions of maintenance operators. Here, RSA publishes up-to-date news and information related to the implementation of the state technical inspection and the work of accredited organizations.

For policyholders (that is, persons who have entered into an insurance contract), the section of the PCA portal – “To help the policyholder” will be especially useful. Here is collected all the information that may be useful to citizens who have concluded an OSAGO agreement:

  • Memo for car owners;
  • Links to useful resources;
  • Standard schemes for registration of traffic accidents for registration of the Europrotocol;
  • Answers to common questions and even a glossary of terms.

Policyholders will also benefit from the functionality of the main page of the PCA website, where the OSAGO Calculator is located. By setting parameters such as the period of use of the vehicle, the term of the contract, the status of the owner, the type of car, etc. you can get an estimated cost of the insurance policy. It also provides information on the application of the bonus-malus coefficient (MBM) when concluding an agreement. This is a coefficient that is calculated based on the number of accidents and insurance payments for the previous period, and affects the final cost of the policy. The portal provides a table, using which users can calculate the coefficient applicable to them.

The site also has a closed part – “Section of insurance stories”, access to which is possible only for registered users. Registration on the portal is not available to everyone, but only to insurers who have sent a completed application of the established form from the official address of the organization. The application is available for download in the same part of the resource.

To communicate with the press, RSA has a press service, a request to which can be sent to a direct email or through the feedback form located on the link “Contacts for the press”. General contacts of the Union are indicated in the section of the same name.

non-tourist pearl of Alsace: kolllak — LiveJournal

After the Obernai, I went to Celeste – another wonderful Alsatian town with a bunch of half-timbered houses and ancient cathedrals, the city is glorified by Erasmus of Rotterdam and is the birthplace of the Christmas tree. In addition, geographically Celeste is the very center of Alsace, but for all that, for some reason, tourists usually skip past this interesting city.

Celeste is very conveniently located between the tourist Strasbourg and Colmar. Getting to Celeste is extremely easy, from Colmar about ten minutes by train, from Strasbourg a little longer, about twenty minutes. The only negative is that the city is located a little away from the Alsace Wine Road, which is probably why tourists drop in less often than in the hyped Riquewihr and Ribeauville, yes, and the tiny Obernay seemed to me a more touristy place.

For the few tourists in Celeste, an ingenious thing has been done, a sightseeing route has been laid right along the city sidewalks. The direction of movement and interesting points are marked with signs embedded in asphalt or tiles. I saw a similar approach in Dijon with its owl signs, I wrote about it in this report. The official route stretches for about three kilometers, i. e. somewhere in an hour of time it is really bypassed. Very convenient, well done!

See the picture below for this route, I will use its numerical designations when describing sights. Our walk with a friend was somewhat different from the official path, you can see it at the link on Google maps, we spent an hour and a half on the city. Perhaps it was too little, Celeste deserves to spend half a day here, the city is interesting. But we had absolutely nothing, we arrived in the city already at four o’clock, and the November day is very short, in fact, it was already starting to get dark.

The first thing a tourist who gets off the train at Celeste station sees is a huge water tower. The French, with the pathos characteristic of Italians, call it the Castle of Water (Château d’eau).

An interesting fact, the roof of the tower served as an arena for the “bird war”, when the Germans captured Alsace, they installed their imperial eagle on the roof, when the region passed to the French, they put a giant rooster on the roof. Now all this is the European Union, apparently, so the roof is empty.

From the train station to the center of Celeste, about ten minutes on foot.

The second sight on our way is the Synagogue (8). The building of the late 19th century did not interest me, but the area around the synagogue is very picturesque.

Before a walk along the Celeste, we stopped at the High Koenigsburg castle. I’ll tell you more about him a little later. So, there we had lunch in a castle restaurant, and my friend decided to try choukrut too. But, apparently, the main ingredient of sauerkraut in the form of sauerkraut did not have the most pleasant effect on him, after about fifteen minutes of walking along the Celeste, a friend, in his own words, “broke off the bottom.”

Luckily, there was a working cafe nearby. So you be careful out there, don’t mess with the chookout.

While my friend was doing his dark deeds, I walked along the streets away from the center.

It turned out that even outside the tourist route, Celeste looks very colorful.

So let’s move on. This nondescript fountain in the form of a Christmas tree seems to hint to us that we are in the homeland … of the Christmas tree. “Why on earth?” asks the skeptical reader. “What will they not come up with to lure fools-tourists!”. And it will be wrong, this fact is documented. In the local chronicle for 1521 there is an entry, something like “a forester was sent to the forest to watch the Christmas trees.” This is, for a moment, the earliest written mention of the tradition of putting up a tree at Christmas. Celeste is the birthplace of the Christmas tree, folks.

Celeste’s symbol is the New Tower. Once there was a city wall and the tower had a defensive function. I recommend to come closer and look at the frescoes decorating the tower. From this side, the scene of the Crucifixion is visible, from the side of the Knight’s Street there is an interesting fresco depicting all Celeste’s craftsmen, except for this, there is a clock on the tower, the mechanism for them was made by the same master as for the clock in Strasbourg Cathedral.

The stork, the symbol of Alsace, brought someone a present, hehe.

But here, on the contrary, a cunning stork is trying to steal a baguette from a heifer wearing a national Alsatian headdress. Judging by its black color – a Protestant girl.

Fachwerk is smaller in percentage terms with a different architecture compared to Obernai, but also enough.

River Ill, if you swim along it, you will find yourself in Starsburg. This is the same river that flows through Petite France. In Celeste, it has a stormy current, so a gate for kayakers was installed here.

Modern architecture on the banks of the Ille is the Mediothek building (11), which spectacularly reflects the buildings of the Old Port. By the way, after a successful training in Celeste, the author of the building was entrusted with the design of the Museum of Europe and the Mediterranean in Marseille.

Here it was possible to turn right and reach the Vauban bastions (10), but we decided not to make a detour, especially since the fortifications did not look very interesting in the pictures.

But we managed to admire the buildings of the Old Port (12) in the rays of sunset. In the Middle Ages, Celeste was a significant river port, which was located just at this place. From those times there was a tower now built into the wall of the house.

Before we walked around the Celeste along its ancient walls, but now it’s time to go deeper into the Old City.

By the way, here is an example of a plate for tourists with the number of the attraction, and those who have good eyesight will notice metal arrows embedded in the asphalt on the left.

So, the sign says that we are entering the Kozhevnikov Quarter (13).

On the left is a typical tanner’s house with a high pointed roof. Leather was hung under the roof to dry, so there had to be excellent ventilation and plenty of space.

Isn’t it an ominous building with curule chairs on the façade?

And all because the terrible Stadtthier (city creature) lived in its vicinity in the Middle Ages. The monster liked to attack late travelers in this passage at night. Therefore, the city authorities decided to build a small altar into the wall (on the left), after which the creature disappeared.

Celeste is beautiful and deserted.

Provinciality and rushing in these quarters of Celeste. Linen hanging from the windows, shabby walls, flocks of children playing unattended in every street. There’s something Italian about it, isn’t it?

The guide recommends not to miss the picturesque streets of Rue des Oies and rue des Veaux (14). And pay attention to the column. In Celeste, there were 16 public wells before the water supply was launched, but the water from the well on Oi Street (pictured below) was considered the most delicious and even sweet.

All the houses here are half-timbered, but in the 18th century, living in a wooden house began to be considered a sign of the poor, so the walls began to be plastered to make it seem that the house was completely made of stone.

I will talk about Celeste’s cathedrals in the next part. I will only note that Celeste is unique, because there is a Romanesque cathedral here!

Kote with all his appearance will express complete contempt for tourists with their iPhone photos. By the way, how many cats are in the picture?

At the end of the street you can see the Witch Tower (16). In the Middle Ages, it was part of the city fortifications, it is interesting that all the remaining narrow loopholes-slots were clearly made for archers. At a later time in the 17th century. the tower served as a place of imprisonment for women who were accused of having links with the “hellish soton”, hence the modern name came from. Now storks live on the roof of the tower, or rather, I saw their nest, but I didn’t notice the birds themselves.

Behind the wall is the Dahlia Garden (Jardin du Dahlia). More than half a million of these flowers are grown annually in Celeste. It is interesting that initially, when only dahlias were brought here from Mexico, they were grown for the sake of edible buds. The Dahlia Garden (15) in November, of course, did not work, but if you get to Celeste in August or a little earlier, then the guidebook strongly recommends stopping by here. In general, Celeste is considered a city of flowers; the Festival of Flowers (Corso Fleuri) is held here every year.

In less than half an hour, I literally fell in love with Celeste. Everything here is so natural and simple, not like in the beautiful but too glossy Auburn, where I was a guest this morning.

No, how is it, to take and easily put the cars in the gallery, which is probably at least three hundred years old.

Eh, you have no idea how many photos I took of half-timbered Celeste, but this time I decided to control myself and cleaned the report as much as possible from unnecessary pictures. And you still have to break the report into two parts, so in the next series the central part of the Old City of Celeste with cathedrals and humanists.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Belmont Shore KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks-1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1-2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2-3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3-4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4-5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Kindergarten Programs (5-6 Years)

Welcome to kindergarten: the gateway to grade school and everything that
comes next! Offered in select centers, our kindergarten programs have small
class sizes and curriculums that mix learning and fun. The basic building
blocks of reading, writing, math, and science are key in kindergarten, so we
make sure they get lots of practice in all of these areas.

Interactive Kindergarten (5-6 Years)

Kindergarten is a critical year for young learners. Experienced KinderCare teachers will
tap into your child’s natural curiosity to help get them even more prepared for
elementary school. Our engaging lessons make the most of current technology while
offering plenty of hands-on play and exploration.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3-12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2-4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2-4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Narva-Jõesuu is a popular Estonian resort. // Irina Tokareva

The Estonian resort town of Narva-Jõesuu may open a summer kindergarten for children of foreign tourists. The city administration submitted a corresponding request to the legal chancellor.

Traveling children can be taken to the local Chamomile (Karikakar) kindergarten, which is responsible to the city. After the admission of children living in the served territory is completed, children from any other regions can be taken to vacant places, reports Regnum.

Narva-Jõesuu is a resort in the north-east of Estonia in the county of Ida-Virumaa. Here is the longest beach on the coast of the country. In summer, many foreigners come here, including for a long vacation. Especially high growth in tourist flow was noted from Russia – more than 30% annually. Russians from time to time are interested in the possibility of sending their children to kindergarten, and the authorities decided to meet these wishes. However, this idea must be approved by the state authorities.

Description of the beach

Tourists disagree on what exactly to consider as Long Beach in Kusadasi. Some people call the entire coast to the Dilek peninsula so, others call it only the near part of it, about 4 km long. The second option is perhaps more accurate, since both the nature of the coast and the infrastructure change further. In this article, we will describe a site located within the boundaries of the village of Karaova.

The nearest part of the Long Beach to Kusadasi can be reached by dolmush in half an hour. The road, turning briefly towards the sea, leaves the coast, leaving room for hotels, restaurants and shops.

The shore here is quite spacious (and then it becomes generally very wide). It is covered with fine sand of an elusive shade – the sand sometimes seems golden, then it gleams with silver. The bottom is also sandy, gently sloping, the depth increases gradually. When entering the water, stones are sometimes encountered, so it is recommended to wear safety shoes here.

The sea is usually calm in the morning, a little rough in the afternoon. In the second half of summer and autumn, algae are washed ashore. In some places they are stale, but near the hotels they are trying to clean them regularly. The public beach here is small, mostly hotels and restaurants are improving the coast.

The beaches of several hotels are especially good – for cleanliness, safety and thoughtful infrastructure, they are marked with a “blue flag”.

Hotels are mainly concentrated in the northern part of Long Beach. This is the most comfortable, but also the most crowded place. The farther towards the Dilek Peninsula, the more modest the infrastructure and the fewer vacationers.

Beach Features

In Turkey, all beaches are considered municipal and free, although everywhere there may be paid services, such as renting sunbeds. On the Long Beach of Kusadasi, entrance to the sections of some hotels is paid, but this price already includes the rental of sunbeds.

Many tourists prefer to pay an entrance fee and relax in comfort. On the public beach, the sunbeds are more modest, and the sand can hardly be called clean. In addition, according to travelers, the water on this beach is slightly colder than on the city beaches of Kusadasi.

Sea and water temperature

The weather in the resorts of the Aegean Sea is not at all the same. If in Marmaris and Bodrum summer comes only in mid-May, then in Kusadasi you can sunbathe already on the May holidays. From the first days of May the air temperature rises above +25°С. The sea is still cool, only +19-22°C, but at the end of May the water warms up to +22°C.

So that children can sunbathe and swim, it is worth coming to Kusadasi in the second half of June. The air temperature at this time does not fall below +30°C, but the sea warms up to +24-25°C.

In July and August the heat in the resort is too strong, thermometers now and then show +33-37°C. At the same time, the water temperature almost does not change: usually it is + 25 ° C and only occasionally rises to + 26-27 ° C.

September is still hot, although temperatures of +28-30°C already seem to be acceptable. To catch the warm sea, it is advisable to come at the beginning of autumn – then the water temperature is + 25 ° C, and then drops to + 22-23 ° C.

Rains are possible closer to October. Due to unpredictable weather, few decide to relax at the resort in October, although sunny and warm days are often in mid-autumn.

Infrastructure, food and security

How comfortable you will be on Long Beach depends on which part of it you stay. The beaches of hotels and some restaurants are equipped with everything you need – sun loungers, umbrellas, changing cabins, showers with fresh water, toilets. On the shore there are posts of the rescue service, which operates from the end of May to the end of September.

The best proof that your comfort and safety is properly taken care of is a blue flag. The choice of catering establishments is relatively small, restaurants predominate. Tourists note a rich menu, delicious seafood dishes, a cozy atmosphere, but the prices are called somewhat overpriced.

Most restaurants open between 8:00-9:00 and offer a breakfast menu. There are several supermarkets and grocery stores near the shore.

Entertainment on and near the beach

Are there popular beaches in Turkey without bananas and jet skis? If there is, then Long Beach in Kusadasi is not one of them. Here you can always hear the squeal of those who are rushing through the waves on a “banana”, someone is slowly pedaling on a catamaran, and the most daring soar above the water under a parachute dome.

First line hotel guests often relax near the pools. On the territory of the “four” Ephesia Holiday Beach Club there is a water park with 6 slides, a paddling pool and a water children’s town. Another water park, Tortuga Pirate Island Theme & Water Park, is part of the Atlantique Holiday Club. It has 14 slides, 8 pools, a children’s play pool and a Lazy River.

Beach fun

  • Banana
  • Catamarans
  • Jet skis
  • Paragliding
  • Beach volleyball court
  • Water parks in hotels

Attractions nearby

For those who love outdoor recreation, we advise you to drive to the Dilek National Park, located in the south of the Long Beach. Tourist routes pass through the mountains, but these mountains are low, overgrown with forests. It is advisable to take water and a snack with you, since there are no catering establishments in the park.

There is a botanical garden in the village of Davutlar, which is also adjacent to the Long Beach. This is primarily a fruit nursery where you can buy seedlings of fruit trees and ornamental plants. But the garden also serves as a place for walking and relaxing – it is interesting for children to see how olives, tangerines, almonds grow. The garden has a café and a children’s playground. The store, among other things, sells dried herbs, hot pepper pods, dried fruits.

Family hotels

You can come to Long Beach from Kusadasi, or you can stay in one of the hotels on the first coastline. Several “fours” in the northern part of the beach are suitable for families with children. The list of their services includes family rooms, a children’s pool, a playground, a mini club, a children’s menu in the restaurant.

5 Employer Review Sites You’re Missing Out On

“Heard it through the grapevine…”

Gossip’s everywhere. You can find it in the office at daily water cooler congregations, whispers through cubicle cracks, and through text messages sent under work tables.

Even if you can’t escape it, there’s one place where you don’t want rumors to run rampant — on employer review sites. Top-tier candidates are going to Google you before they submit their resumes, and one of their stops will be Glassdoor.

“There are places where conversations and reviews are happening. And employers should be paying attention to them.”

But in an era where social media dominates the attention of the Snapchat generation, you better believe candidates armed with smartphones are savvier than that. They vent their job search woes wherever they can. It’s up to companies to keep up with the hashtags and address the “haters” when they can. Your company reputation and employer brand depends on it.

We asked Joel Cheesman, founder of Ratedly, where employers may be missing out when it comes to wrangling in employer reviews. His answer? There’s more than just Glassdoor.

“There are places where conversations and reviews are happening,” Cheesman said. “And employers should be paying attention to them.”

Here are some other sites to consider as you monitor employer reviews:

All Things Indeed

Indeed is already a big player when it comes to job listings, and according to Cheesman, it’s an important place for recruiters to spot employer reviews, too.

“I wouldn’t say Indeed is half, or one-for-one,” Cheesman said. “But they are probably three-to-one in terms of just quantity — so it has to be one that people are checking out.”

Get Industry Specific

Joining groups and social networks with professionals in the same industry is a big networking tactic for career development. It’s important for recruiters to identify where discussions on the industry (and the companies involved) are taking place.

“If your industry warrants your attention, then you should give it.”

“If your industry warrants your attention, then you should give it,” Cheesman said. “For example, there’s a site called Truckers Forum…if you’re hiring truckers in any capacity, then you need to pay attention to Truckers Forum because that’s where the reviews happen.”

Do Your Reddit Research

Reddit is a treasure trove of information. It’s also host to a laundry list of forums, (known as subreddits) that tackle almost every subject imaginable, including job advice and recruitment issues.

Reddit is also a magnet for technical types, which may make it a good place to scout out reviews and potential employee misconduct, as one short-lived Google employee learned the hard way.

The Quora Forum

Quora is another open forum for people to post honest questions and receive community feedback.

“I think Quora, another site that we [at Ratedly] monitor is important because you get some pretty thoughtful answers to questions,” Cheesman said.

Avoid The Hashtag Horror Story

What makes Twitter a blessing (and a potential curse) is its immediacy. Data shows that more than 70 percent of job seekers that have a bad candidate experience will post about it online, so it’s important to keep an eye on your company mentions. You don’t want to end up as another horror story pinned with the infamous #RecruiterFails hashtag, so keep a tight ship and be prepared to respond accordingly when faced with negative reviews.

The Bottom Line

Employer branding is the first line of defense when it comes to attracting the types of job seekers you want for your company. By learning more about where conversations about your company — and your industry — are happening in real-time, you can better gauge how to appeal to candidates in ways that are not only relatable, but actionable.

How to Use Company Review Sites to Find the Perfect Job

Sep 24, 2019

Guides

It’s time to buy something online. What’s the first thing you do? According to the Pew Research Center, 82% of us think about reading online reviews.

Why should the job hunting process be different?

When you accept a new job, you’re putting your career and financial future on the line. Arguably, it could be one of the most critical purchases you’ll make, even if you never spend a dime to get it.

Company review sites let you read what real people — including current and past employees — think about the organization you’re hoping to join.

You have plenty of websites to choose from! We’ll help you decide which site is right for you, and we’ll explain how to use each of them properly.

How to Research With Glassdoor

Glassdoor is one of the biggest and best-known employee review sites out there. More than 600,000 companies have listings on the site.

On Glassdoor, you can find out more about:

  • Recommendations. Reviewers are asked to disclose whether they would recommend the company to a friend, whether they approve of the CEO, and how they feel the company is performing.
  • Advice. Read hot tips reviewers give the management team about what should change and what practices are working.
  • Salaries. Get a general idea about how much people get paid. Read information about the benefits offered.
  • Interviews. Find out more about what questions employers ask each applicant. See if people who went through the process accepted a job, and if they didn’t, read why they declined the opportunity.

To use the site:

  • Search by company name. You’ll see a search box on the home page of the website. If you know the exact name of the company you’d like to work for, start typing.
  • Search by location. If you’re not exactly sure of the company’s name or spelling, tap in the location of the organization, and then start typing what you know.
  • Sign in. You’ll see a bit of information without logging in, but to read all the details about the company, you’ll need to give Glassdoor your information. Create an account in seconds, or sign in with a Facebook or Google account.
  • Sort your data. You can read through reviews by date, by sentiment, and more.

Glassdoor works best for:

  • People researching many companies. Glassdoor has many reviews available online. If you have a long list of organizations to target, it’s likely you’ll find all of them listed on this website.
  • Interview prep. Read what others were asked in an interview, and find out how long it takes to get a job offer. Researching the best ways to prepare can help you feel comfortable during this crucial part of the job-hunting process.
  • Storytelling. Move past hard data and star ratings with Glassdoor. People are encouraged to tap out all of their thoughts when they leave reviews, and there is no character limit. If you like reading the full story from employees, this site could intrigue you.

How to Research With Kununu

Kununu originates in England, and at one point, all the listings were overseas companies. Now, American users have caught on, and there are many U.S. organizations reviewed on the site. Overall, there are 3.6 million worldwide reviews to sort through.

Reviewers are asked to rank companies on a variety of factors, including:

  • Company culture
  • Management support
  • Teamwork
  • Freedom to work independently
  • Career development support
  • Job security

In each section, reviewers can provide a star rating, but they can also include comments on their thoughts about the company’s performance. If you’re interested in sheer data, you’ll like the stars, but if you like narrative flow, you’ll also have plenty of information to look through.

To use Kununu:

  • Start your search. Type in the company’s name in the search box on the home screen, or tap the “search” button in the upper-right corner of the website.
  • Filter your results. If you’re researching a company with various locations, use the city, country, or state buttons to hone in on the one you want. You can also use an industry filter to separate company names that sound alike.
  • Make your selection. Once you’ve found the right organization name, click on it to open a new window.
  • Read and refine. Use the “overview” button to read a summary of all reviews. Scroll down to read the comments in full. Select the “reviews” tab to see a summary of star ratings.
  • Ask a question. If you don’t see a critical piece of data, use the “questions” tab to make a query.
  • Search for jobs. Use the “jobs” tab to see employment opportunities submitted by the company you’re researching. When none are listed, Kununu will give you other opportunities in a similar industry.

Kununu works best for:

  • Industry specialists. It’s easy to compare companies within the same field of work via Kununu. Scroll down to the bottom of each review, and you’ll see a “score comparisons” box that lets you jump to different companies within your preferred employment space.
  • Global job hunters. As we mentioned, Kununu has listings for companies all around the world. If the idea of travel intrigues you, this could be just the site for you.
  • People in a hurry. Review summaries make for quick reading. If you need a quick punch of data before a meeting, this is a good website choice.

How to Research With Comparably

Some job hunters know exactly where they want to work. Others haven’t settled on a job wish list quite yet. You may know what attributes set an organization apart from the rest, but you haven’t decided on names and locations yet. Comparably could be just right for you.

Employers are encouraged to join the site, submit pictures, list job openings, and talk about what makes their companies worthwhile. Then, employees add their own reviews to fill out the profile. Employees are asked to score companies based on their:

  • Leadership. The employee’s manager and the company’s CEO both get a score.
  • Environment. Employees can talk about the company’s culture, their team, office culture, and how meetings are run.
  • Benefits and compensation. Ratings about how much employees are paid in both salary and benefits are available.

To use Comparably:

  • Search by name. If you do know the name of the organization you hope to work for, enter it into the search box on the home page.
  • Emphasize culture. Scroll down, and you’ll see companies ranked by the website’s algorithm, based on employee reviews. Refine your search by company size.
  • Focus on gender and diversity. Comparably uses employee reviews to rank companies by how well they respect their workforce. You also have the ability to refine results by company size.
  • Assess leadership. Browse companies with high CEO rankings, or read about companies with highly rated teams. You’ll see those options near the bottom of the home page.

Comparably works best for:

  • Open job hunts. You’ll find all sorts of data about well-liked companies. If you specialize in a job that almost every company must fill (like information technology), this can help you focus on organizations that will treat you right.
  • Making connections. Names, contact data, and photos of people in management are listed on company pages. That could be a perk if you’d like to reach out to someone at the company before you apply.
  • Finding a job fast. If you spot a company you’d love to work for, mark your interest in the company page. Comparably will notify the company that you’re interested, and you may get an invitation to apply for an open position. You’ll need to create a username and password to take advantage of this option.

How to Research With InHerSight

InHerSight is designed for women looking for their next dream job. All the ratings on this site are written by women and the founders suggest that they only include ranking terms that matter to women in the workforce.

Each person who creates a rating of a company is asked to talk about:

  • Personal development. Were they offered learning opportunities? Were wellness initiatives available?
  • Career opportunities. Could they move into management? Was there a sponsorship or mentorship program? Were coworkers helpful?
  • Family support. Was maternity and adoptive leave available? Could women use flexible work hours and/or telecommute?

Users are asked to talk about how many women were in management spots. They are also invited to disclose details about the salary and benefits package.

To use InHerSight:

  • Search by company name. Tap the magnifying glass at the top of the page, and enter your data.
  • Search by location. Type in your zip code in the location box, and you’ll see companies near you rated by women.
  • Search by industry. If you’re willing to relocate for the perfect job, select your field, and leave the location data blank.
  • Read the data. Once you find the right company, click the company’s profile and start digging in.
  • Sign up. Save time and create a profile on the site. You’ll see companies that support the environment and causes that matter the most to you.

InHerSight works best for:

  • Women. All of the reviews are written by women, and the company shares rankings that might matter most to women. If you’re interested in working in women-led companies, and you want to ensure that you’re given equal opportunities and plenty of time to support your family, this could be a valuable resource.
  • Time-sensitive job searches. Find the company you’re interested in, and you’ll see a summary screen with star rankings. It’s an easy way to find out a lot about a company very quickly.
  • Media-savvy searchers. Save time with a profile, and you’ll get matched with jobs that are just right for you.

How to Use Review Sites

Review sites give you insight into companies you long to work for. Make the most of your time on these sites by reading with a critical eye.

Read smart by:

  • Focusing on moderate reviews. Experts say they always read three-star reviews first. Extreme reviews can be more entertaining, of course, but they may not be as helpful. A moderate review is likely to contain both good and bad information, so you can make up your own mind.
  • Paying attention to listings with many reviews. Researchers say reputation scores tend to rise when a company has plenty of reviews. If there are only one or two, the overall outlook is negative. Unhappy people can’t wait to share their opinions, and they tend to be early adopters of review technology.
  • Watching for signs of trouble. Look for reviews that lack detail, contain too many first-person pronouns, or lean hard on verbs. Those are the touches, researchers say, that indicate that the analysis might be invalid or bot written.
  • Researching the reviewer. Some review sites make profiles of their review team. Additionally, reporters say that some people make a career of reviewing everything they can. If a certain reviewer has a history of leaving rankings for plenty of companies, and they are all positive or negative, this could be a voice you should keep out of your head.

If you spot a trend in the review, make a note of it. During your job interview, you’ll get hit with the dreaded “What questions do you have for us?” line. This is an opportunity to set the record straight.

Mention that you’ve seen online reviewers mention this problem. Ask if the reviews are accurate, and if they are, what the company is doing to address the issue. You could discover that you’re worrying about old information.

If all the reviews are good and you don’t have an interview yet, it’s time to prepare your application. This could be a company that offers the right mix of compensation and growth that makes it ideal for you.

If you’d like to deepen your research on a company and find out about job openings, we can help. Joblist contains job postings from some of the biggest and best companies in the United States. We add more job listings every day! Search by job name or search by location.

Our website will give you a good idea of next steps that can move your career forward, and it doesn’t cost you anything to get started. Try it today!

Table of Contents

How To Get Playdough Out Of Hair

There are a handful of different methods for getting playdough out of your kids hair, each best for different circumstances. These methods have all been tried and tested by the My Toddler Life team to save you the hassle:

Method 1: How To Get Dry Playdough Out Of Hair

If you’ve left it too late to get out, or your child comes home from daycare or school with dried dough in their hair, this is the method for you.

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! Book Review

A Lot or a Little?

What you will—and won’t—find in this book.

  • Educational Value

    some

This book essentially puts young readers in the position of adult figures as they find themselves having to deal with the persistence and coaxing of the pigeon. Throughout the book, the pigeon begs and pleads to be given the chance to drive the bus, allowing children to interact with the book and make the decisions for the pigeon. Despite his constant pestering, the pigeon ends up following directions and moves on to better things, giving readers the satisfaction of knowing they helped contribute to his happiness.

  • Positive Messages

    a lot

At the end of the story, the pigeon learns to listen to directions and stop his wheedling. This, in turn, allows him to pursue other things — dreaming of driving a truck! Although persistence is made out to be a bad thing in this book, the pigeon’s steadfastness can be quite an admirable feat. Readers will also learn the satisfaction of saying “no” when necessary.

  • Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that with cartoon style pictures and an interactive story, this is just the sort of silliness that will appeal to a preschooler or lower elementary school-age child with a sense of humor.

What’s the Story?

On the title page, the bus driver addresses the reader directly. He says that he has to be gone for a while and asks if the reader can watch things, but not to let the pigeon drive the bus. As the driver walks off one page, the pigeon walks on the next asking if he can drive the bus. He begs, makes deals, pretends, complains, cajoles, bribes, and then insists that he be allowed to drive the bus, but his wish is not granted; so he fumes. The bus driver returns, thanks the reader, and drives off. The pigeon then spies a truck and a new fantasy takes hold of his imagination.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Parents say

Kids say
(9):

Minimalist in approach, the author/artist uses a limited number of very pale colors, and most pages have a single image (usually the pigeon) and a bubble of text. The strength of the story is in its simplicity. The conflict between the two main characters, the bus driver and the pigeon, is one of the most basic in early childhood: “Yes I will” versus “no you won’t.”

Things gets interesting, however, when each character appeals directly to the reader. This direct discourse from the bus driver and the goofy, wide-eyed pigeon draws the reader, or listener in the case of young children, right between the opposing parties. For young children (who think magically anyway), this is bound to be flattering and fun. Mo Willems, who has won five Emmys as a writer and animator of Sesame Street, makes a fine debut into the world of children’s books.

How to choose children’s books so that your child loves reading

Reading is not a duty, but a right

Children’s reading experts unanimously say that in order for a child to start reading with pleasure, parents must at least comply with several conditions . The first is to listen carefully to your child, to be interested in what exactly he needs.

“While reading, the child must find answers to his questions. These books can be “wonderful”, unusual from the point of view of parents, filled with kindergarten humor. But if they let the child feel what is written about him, then these are “those” books,” said Ekaterina Asonova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Sociocultural Educational Practices at Moscow City Pedagogical University.

A child reading specialist explained that it is important for parents to understand “what needs a child can satisfy with the help of a book or what tasks he can solve with it. For example, learn something about your favorite pastime.

Fat shaming, abuse and cruelty. What was in the books from our childhood

According to a survey by the Znanija.com platform, 35% of children borrow books from their home library. When adults…

May 17 11:39

The second condition is related to the situation in the family, in which they want the book to become an integral part of the child’s life. “The more often you read yourself, the more attention your child will pay to books,” says Lilu Rami, art director of the children’s literature publishing house Clever. She also said that she has been reading aloud to her daughter since birth. “A child who is read to from birth will speak faster and be imbued with a love of books,” a representative of the publishing house believes. “When my daughter grows up and the books in her life begin to compete with gadgets, we go to the bookstore with her, I will show her my favorite books from my childhood, we will leaf through the new items together. We will also sign up for the local library and make going to it a family tradition,” Rami explained.

Ekaterina Asonova also believes that visiting the library is one of the ways to get people interested in books.

“If a child has grown up with books, the most reliable thing is to go with him to a safe place where he will be allowed to take any books, where he can sit on the floor right next to the shelf, look at the books and feel yourself as freely as possible. The second important point: do not interrogate the child what he likes, but observe his interest. Children are not always able to formulate what they want. And the task of adults is to show that the choice of books is a field in which a child can express himself. Reading should not become a duty, but a right,” emphasized a specialist in children’s reading.

The third condition is complete freedom of choice of books in terms of design and genre. A child may like picture books or comics, and this is an absolutely normal choice not only for a preschooler, but also for older children, including high school students, explained the leading editor of the MIF. Childhood” Elena Abronova.

“Even a picture book can become a book for the first independent reading, but it must necessarily contain an interesting story that can be retold. In comics, the text is usually located in bubbles (“cloud with text” for the speech or thoughts of the hero. – Gazeta.Ru), onomatopoeia is often used – it can be difficult to immediately accept this manner of presentation, so for the very first reading I still advise not a comic . But this is very individual – for example, the children of colleagues “paid off” thanks to the series of comics about Emil and Margot and Hildafolk,” Abronova said.

The editor noted that for a book that starts reading, non-fiction may also be suitable if the child is fond of, for example, dinosaurs or insects, but in this case the text should be adapted for younger children, illustrations are required.

Criteria for a “correct” book

Experts are unanimous in their opinion that there is no standard in choosing a book that will start the reading process in a child. Nevertheless, there are several criteria for choosing publications that have every chance to win the heart of a child. These criteria depend on the age of the reader.

So, if we are talking about books for preschoolers or elementary school students, then here you should pay attention to design details, primarily to the font.

“Children do not always need huge fonts that comply with SanPiNs, but still, the font should be selected for a certain age,” said art director Lilu Rami. Also, according to Rami, it is necessary to pay attention to the cover: “We at the publishing house try to do everything to interest even the most selective child, creating beautiful covers.”

Editor Elena Abronova believes that in addition to the font size, a large number of illustrations and a small volume are important for the first book.

“In our publishing house, these are books by Tatyana Russita (“Kot Sock”, “But on my own!”, etc.). The words in them consist of three-four-five letters, short sentences, the books themselves are thin – the child easily reads such a book from cover to cover and receives a sticker. He understands that reading is not difficult, but quite interesting, ”Abronova explained.

In her opinion, for both young children and older children, design can become a gateway to the world of literature.

“Style can be the deciding factor when a child decides whether or not to read this book. “Teremok” with illustrations by Igor Oleinikov will help to discover that this fairy tale can be seen in a completely different way … ”, said Asonova, an expert in children’s reading.

Another “trick” that will help attract and keep the child’s attention is the presence of a funny or congenial character. Often publishers of children’s literature offer readers a whole series of books with such characters. The child can’t wait to find out what happened to his favorite character, and he asks his parents to buy him a sequel.

“So, for example, the favorite character of the Clever publishing house, Shmyak the Kitten, became a guide to reading for many children. More than once, while working at book exhibitions, I saw how the children themselves asked what new items we had about Shmyak and listed to their parents what they had already read so that they would not accidentally buy them duplicate copies, ”said a representative of the Clever publishing house.

For older children, there are no criteria as such in choosing books. The art editor of the Polyandria publishing house, Olga Yavich, advised experimenting with genres, looking for characters with whom the child would associate himself, as well as reading aloud a lot and regularly, even if the child has been reading well himself for a long time.

“There are slow books with lots of room for thought and conversation: Keeper of the Moon,” Hope in the Cherry Tree, “Sometimes I Feel…,” “Out of Nowhere. ” There are books that evoke tenderness, tune in to care and sensitivity, for example, The Forgotten Lamb, Thunderstorm. And there are those that will help awaken the imagination, inspire creativity: “The Melody of Life”, “What We Will Build”, “The Game of Architecture,” Yavitch explained, emphasizing that every parent has a search for a book that the child would like, may take varying amounts of time.

On motivation and demotivation influenced by parents

The desire to “inculcate” the habit of reading can fail if the parents put too much pressure on the child. For example, in an attempt to motivate, they say: “But here I am at your age …”. This is not the best way to get interested in reading, Asonova is sure.

“If you set yourself as an example, then it can work exactly the opposite. And it can also be painful for the parent himself if he finds himself in a situation where he has been devalued, ”explained the expert.

close

100%

Another example of an unsuccessful attempt to get children to read books is when parents limit their choice to a home library, albeit a very diverse one.

“You should not think that your library contains everything that is possible, and suggest that your child choose books only from it. Visit libraries, new spaces filled with books. It is possible that the child will find a book there that you already have at home. You shouldn’t be offended by him, it’s better to be glad that he nevertheless found her, ”Asonova recommended.

A reading diary, often recommended in school, can both motivate and discourage reading, especially if parents make it a chore. The art director of the Clever publishing house advised “to keep a reader’s diary, set different goals that it would be interesting for a child to close.”

Who has the best child: how parents compete

More than half of schoolchildren’s parents in Russia do homework instead of their children. The most difficult…

December 09 19:03

Anastasia Yekushevskaya, a psychologist and academic director of the Skysmart online school for children and teenagers, supports the idea that a game element will help to strengthen motivation, for example, rating (maybe comic) books, quests based on favorite works, and books with various interactive elements.

The Devar publishing house has been operating on the Russian book market for a long time. It specializes in printing printed products with augmented reality technology. Such publications represent a symbiosis of a classic book – with text, illustrations – and modern technologies: just point your mobile phone at a page with a special sign, and its characters come to life.

Another way to draw attention to reading is to invite your child to write a book about himself.

“Researchers from Latin America compared the impact on motivation of a non-personalized and personalized book – in the second case, a photograph of the child himself can be pasted into the publication so that the main character is with his face. They noted that a personalized book does affect the motivation to read, but does not guarantee retention of attention to books in the future. But this is already something, this is a way to show a child that a book can be interesting, ”said Asonova, a specialist in children’s reading.

She advised parents to trust their child in choosing literature, not to be frightened if he “gets stuck” on the same books for a long time, and also to remember that “access to culture and knowledge is not limited to books – there are cinemas, museums, theaters, sports , scientific laboratories, nature reserves. All this can become a source of questions, the answers to which the child will then look for in books.

“The task of parents is to make the child’s life happy and provide him with access to knowledge and culture,” the expert concluded.
