Russian Orthodoxy Expands in Northern California / Pravoslavie.Ru
In the US, there is an upward trend in Orthodox believers
among young people, especially in the society of those whose roots
are in Russia. This was recently announced by the parish manager
Moscow Patriarchate in America Archbishop
Elista and Kalmyk Justinian. Sacramento is
a clear example of the revival of the Orthodox faith among
first and second generation immigrants. On the stretch
for many years in the capital of California there are several
Orthodox churches, parochial schools, and
the first Cossack cadet school in the USA. nine0004
Recently, through the efforts of the parishioners of the Holy Ascension Church in
Sacramento hosted the second annual Russian Festival attended by
hundreds of city dwellers. The event also caused
some interest among English-speaking youth.
These are just some of the superficial signs.
spread of Orthodoxy in the region.
Several times a year a group of Orthodox activists
holds children’s camps, where children, in addition to recreation,
entertainment, the study of Orthodoxy, also with passion
go in for sports.

Orthodox boot camp in Marysville
This godforsaken ranch, located near
Marysville, California, belongs to the Slavic
missionary church “Bethany”.
“Bethany” is a Pentecostal church
and, perhaps, the largest Russian-speaking religious
organization outside the CIS. Leadership of this community
provided the territory of its recreation center for children
camp of the Cossack cadet school from Sacramento.
nine0005
Several dozen parishioners have gathered here today
Holy Ascension Church, located in the capital of the state,
to introduce their children to Orthodoxy and the history of Russia
in an informal atmosphere.
Children have fun on a homemade zipline
run, exercise on the horizontal bar, play football, basketball,
kayaking, painting, learning to burn wood,
watch historical films, learn to shoot from a bow,
crossbow, pneumatic gun, throw knives correctly.
The average age of children who arrived at the camp is 6-13 years old. Them
parents left Russia for various reasons, however,
being thousands of kilometers away from home, to forget
their cultural roots are not collected. Moreover, everything
worthy is passed on to children who have already grown up in the American
environment.

Batiushka helps the little ones with coloring pages depicting churches in Russia.
After physical activity children
gather in the dormitory of the camp, where helpers
chieftains introduce them to military history and ammunition
Russian army of the last century. Spiritual mentor of the school
of all camps, rector of the Holy Ascension Church,
Archpriest Pavel Volmensky conducts daily services
for both adults and young cadets.
nine0002
Unfortunately, after the Russian Revolution, the foundations of the Cossacks
were destroyed, and today’s researchers bit by bit
collect a real story – says Kholodkov.
The modern generation does not know the history of the Cossacks well,
Russia.
“That is why the task of our cadet school in the first
turn is the Orthodox spiritual and moral
upbringing; love for the Russian language and literature, history
and culture of the USA, Russia, traditions of the Cossacks; respect for
national cultures, friendship and cooperation of peoples,
world peace; education of Cossack prowess”,
Kholodkov continues.
nine0005
Mentors play an important role in cultivating culture
healthy and safe lifestyle, spiritual health.
For school teachers, the spiritual world of pupils is important, its
beauty and harmony:
“To any Cossack, the ideas of brotherhood, courage,
mutual assistance, cooperation, no matter where they are
live – in Russia, America, Australia, Argentina or
other countries,” says the ataman, talking about
purposes of our operations in the United States, we want to keep
our history, culture, to pass this heritage on to our
children.”
nine0005
According to the ataman, the Cossack cadet school
“good relations are gradually being established with
cadet corps in Russia.
When asked about the crazy idea of the Cossacks from St. Petersburg,
declared their desire to return
Russian Alaska and California, Kholodkov grinning
said: “What more do the Cossacks have to do? We have
that all problems have been solved within the Cossack movement?
Let the Cossacks go about their business, and the politicians
their own. ”
nine0013 Cossack-cadet school at the temple in
Sacramento
While the guys were chasing the ball, I got into a conversation with one of
pupils; it is worth noting that all of them from an early age without
problems communicate in two languages - Russian and
English.
The boy was born in Russia, today he lives with his parents in
the capital of California. Along with the Russian school attends
American public. He says he’s here on Saturdays
like more.

given to a Californian at baptism by Father Paul,

12-year-old daughter to school to study Russian.
After interacting with teenagers on the territory of the church
yard, I got the impression that the level
development and personal qualities of Russian-speaking children on
order outperform their American peers.

This unusual school is really crowded.
The “classes” are housed in the canteen building, which
is located at the church. During classes, the room is divided

It turns out a kind of cubes, in each of which
children are doing. Despite the tightness, for several hours in
the parish dining room becomes fun: by the window

in the “red corner”, where next to the images
Russian tsars hangs a portrait of the Patriarch of All Rus’ Kirill,

Milwaukee – Sacramento: forecast and bets for the NBA match December 8, 2022
Sacramento has not been able to defeat Milwaukee in the NBA regular season for more than 6 years. Since the Kings are finally going to fight for the playoffs, so at the same time, maybe they will break the streak of 13 losses to the Bucks? nine0005

Milwaukee
Mike Budenholzer’s men keep chasing Boston and are 3 wins behind the Celts and are 2nd in the East. The Bucks have won 5 of their previous 6 fights. Chris Middleton is finally back from injury, and it’s possible we’ll see Milwaukee playing at their best very soon. True, while Chris is a little out of shape, and injuries are bothering some important Bucks role players. Brook Lopez managed to recover for the last game, but the participation of Grayson Allen is now in question. Serge Ibaka, Marjon Bochamp and Joe Ingles are also in the infirmary, although the first two may recover soon.
nine0005
The beginning of the last match against Orlando turned out to be too nervous. The 2021 NBA champions entered the game with an optimal line-up, and in such a situation, one of the championship favorites should not leave a single chance for the East outsider. In the end, Milwaukee still won with a score of 109:102, although the Bucks’ defense was not perfect. As for the attack, Chris Middleton failed the meeting, scoring only 1 of 11 shots, while Jrue Holiday did not have long-range shots. Naturally, Giannis Antetokounmpo had to take the rap for his teammates, who scored 34 points and even scored 2 three-pointers. Also worth noting is Bobby Portis, who converted 8 of 12 from the field and became the 2nd in scoring for the Bucks. nine0005
Sacramento
This season could be historic for Sacramento. Many were skeptical about the appointment of Mike Brown as head coach, but under his leadership, the Kings are nice to look at. The team runs, moves the ball and is somewhat reminiscent of the Golden State, in which Brown worked for many years as an assistant. The very beginning of the regular season for the Kings did not work out, but then Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk, and Harrison Barnes also stalled. Now all three are in good shape, and the California squad has issued a series of 3 wins and climbed to 5th place in the Western Conference. Add here the progress of D’Aaron Fox, who began to hit better from behind the arc, and also pulled up free throws, and we get a clear contender for the top 8 of the West.
nine0005
After victories over the Clippers and Pacers, Mike Brown’s wards finished off Chicago – 110:101. Sabonis made only 4 field goals, but scored a triple-double of 10 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists. Fox and Herter hit just 3 of 17 three-point attempts on two, but Barnes and Monk did not let us down. Sacramento made 10 interceptions that evening, 3 of which were by Davion Mitchell, 2 each by Fox and Monk.

Statistical betting
The Bucks have won 4 of their last 6 games at home. According to this trend, the victory of Milwaukee, taking into account overtime for 1.51, looks interesting.
The Kings have scored 117+ points in 3 of their previous 5 games, so Sacramento’s individual total over 111.5 at 1.91 might be worth trying.
Milwaukee-Sacramento Forecast
Sacramento has had some downturns during the season, but the team is in great shape right now. Sometimes the Kings, of course, act chaotically, and the same Sabonis sometimes delays the completion of attacks and reinvents the wheel. It is necessary to score open shots or something, otherwise there were plenty of misses from behind the arc against Chicago. “Milwaukee” needs time to establish game connections: after all, without Middleton, the “deer” managed for a long time. The Bucks sometimes mess up on defense, and even against Orlando there were problems. In terms of the selection of role players, the Kings are not inferior to their opponent, if not superior, and in the last personal meeting, the Californians scored more than 125 points for a reason. Our prediction for Milwaukee vs. Sacramento is as follows:
- Sacramento handicap (+4.5) with odds 1.88
- Total over 231.5 points with odds. 1.81
- Sacramento win with 2.4 overtime
