   Junior: Throughout my years as a student I have been to private, public, magnet, and online schools, but none of those experiences compare to the DA online campus. When I first joined Davidson I was worried. I had been to two other schools just the year before (one magnet and one public) and neither had worked. Not to mention my online school experience was very small as I had only taken a few asynchronous online classes before. But at Davidson, the live sessions were stimulating and engaging, the teachers were invested in my learning, the work was actually interesting, and my peers were amazing!
   I’ve made strong friendships and connections throughout my two years. Davidson has helped be become a successful student too. I’d always had trouble taking notes, planning, and studying but DAO has let me create my own strategies for each! The school is meant for gifted kids and it shows in everything they do. So the classroom size was much smaller, allowing the teachers to be more engaged with the students and teach them better. I enjoyed playing on the sports teams all four years of high school. The school makes every students education important and doesn’t seem to “forget” about a student or disregard them. They want us all to succeed. On the flip side, I would like a larger campus, the halls get crowded at times. Funding would also be nice to improve the campus facilities and equipment.    Sophomore: Overall, I have found Reno High to be a fantastic experience! The open campus is quite nice, and there are many activities available to students. It seems to me that there is something for everyone! There are clubs of all different natures, as well as sports and other activities relating to the arts and technology. My academic experience has also been great. The staff truly cares for their students and apart from 1 unhelpful teacher, all of my teachers have helped me to effectively understand the subject matter that I am learning. Most of the student body is friendly, though there are some rude kids (but all schools have them). Personally, I haven’t had any problems with my peers and I feel relatively safe at school. Though our facility might not be the prettiest with its yellow-tiled walls, there are decent classrooms and quality sports facilities offered here. The energy that came from the stands during a game, or the endless support coming from multiple teachers, and the positive learning environment that allowed me to thrive and eventually go on to pursue a college education set me up for a positive future. A variety of of clubs and sports were offered to me throughout my four years of high school and allowed many students and I an opportunity to find a sense of belonging. You are constantly surrounded by a multitude of cultures which exposes students to new and exciting perspectives. Although, as a first-gen student who finds that school comes easily, I did struggle with knowing how to prepare for college. My one criticism of the McQueen would be a lack of college readiness and a small resource centre to go to to find scholarships. These programs would have been beneficial in preparing me for managing my own money, health, and other essential life tasks. As far as the arts go, Damonte Ranch had decent performing arts programs but the design courses lacked the ability to prepare students to pursue those interests/careers. Nevada’s education overall is poor concerning design and the arts. More resources concerning counseling, future academic opportunities, and access to more diverse career paths besides college, especially beyond the University of Nevada, would have been more helpful during Junior and Senior years. As an Honors & AP student, I was mostly supported by faculty and staff. There were classes and incidents where the grades and statistics did seem to matter more than the students; however, things may have changed over the past few years.     Parent: We love Lenz! We’ve always had great experiences with teachers (most teachers have been teaching at the school a long time). The school has an excellent principal whom all the students adore, he is outside every morning at drop off and afternoons when school lets out and he is always at every fun school function (and they have amazing events) and he also attends most field trips as well.     Middle School Student: My favorite part about this school is how there are two teams for each grade level. My team really felt like my family while I attended this school. We had our own team chant and every Friday, we were allowed to wear our team shirts instead of our uniform shirt. I also like how the teachers rolled up with us. One year they would teach 7th grade, and the next, they would become 8th grade teachers, I was able to create many nice relationships with my teachers and all my teachers were able to know every student very well.
