Family Dollar Manager Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Family Dollar Manager: Okay, so Family Dollar, manager yet again. Job titles is to work register, enter account inventory for cigarettes, enter the deposit at the end of the night. If something gets broken I have to D100, so pretty much void it off or whatever. Watch the store, stock shelves, that’s it, literally.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Family Dollar Manager: I think it’s actually perfect. The location is Ohio City. I don’t know if you’re familiar with that area, but over there it tends to be a lot of security, so we don’t typically get robbed or anything like that. Of course we get little stealing happening from customers, but that happens, you can’t really control that.
Other than that, the environment is pretty chill. Like I said, the workers there, they’re friendly. We know the customers so much, we pretty much know them by name at this point. Some customers like us so much, they literally, I have somebody who brings me food almost every time I work. I never ask him for it. They walk in, they see me, they leave out and come back with some food. So the environment there, it’s pretty cool. I actually like the job, it’s the longest job I actually had. So, yeah.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Family Dollar Manager: Oh yeah, she did ask that. She asked me things like how close did I live? She asked me was I 18, because you have to be 18 to work there. She asked me what could I bring to the table, if I could lift 50 pounds, can I work register, because you have to do both. And that was pretty much it. So literally it was basic questions like that.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Family Dollar Manager: They contacted me by phone and email because I had to confirm certain things. So whoever applies will have to get the same emails. And I told you it took about maybe two to three weeks.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Family Dollar Manager: Pretty much if you’re looking for a laid back, chill job, this is the job for you. Family Dollar really doesn’t ask you to do too much. I think what they pay is enough for what you do, because pretty much all you’re doing is standing on register or stocking something. You don’t need too much money to do that.
You still get a lot of privacy because I’m able to like listen to music and all types of stuff so things there. So if you’re looking for a laid back job that pays decent, I guess, and kind of a slow paced environment, sometimes it’s steady, Family Dollar would be the job for you.

Family Dollar Assistant Manager Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: My job title and primary duties were being assistant manager. I had to manage the store while the store manager wasn’t in. That would consist of making sure the cashiers have what they need in their drawers like change or what not and doing voids and return processes or what not. Basically just carrying on duties that’s cleaning the store, restocking the shelves, recovering the store which I mean is bring up items on the shelf so they can get the new items. I’m basically just watching out for thieves or what not.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: It was pretty cool I mean, it was nice temperature in there, it’s like when there was hot outside, there was AC, when it was cold outside there was high heat in there. You stay on your feet a lot but that wasn’t a problem because you didn’t do a lot of heavy lifting or doing a lot of work, you just stood behind a register and basically rang up customers.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: My favorite part about working there were the customers because the customers became regulars because there was a Family Dollar on almost every corner so customers usually live around the corner from the store and they come in a lot of time and they get to know your name and you need to know their name and basically just create a bond with the customers.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: I would walk into work, clock in and from there, I would exchange drawers from the cashiers that’s leaving and the cashier that’s coming in, I would make sure that their drawers are staying. Just count down my cashiers drawer and then basically just work until it’s time to get off. It’s a lot you do in a day but every day is pretty much the same, unless you have some type of emergency happening in the store or what not.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: The application process, my application process was a little funny because I just used to stop into the store a lot of times asking for a job. He told me to finally to put an application in. They have a kiosk there in the store, you can fill out your application right there in-store and then they should be able to contact you in 24 hours letting you know if they were interested or not. You would come in for an interview, they see if they like you from there and then they invite you back for a second interview then there’s when they drug test you right there on the spot, and then basically offer you the job. The next time you come in it would be just working.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: What questions that the interviewer asked were questions like what are my past experience with working? What are my strong traits as far as communication or what not and what are my weaknesses? Can I count? Do I have an education? Why do I want to work there at Family Dollar? Along those lines.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: I think my consistency set me apart because I stay consistent on trying to get the job. I stopped in and I expressed that I wanted the job. I guess employers want to see that someone wants the job before they hire. They don’t want to just hire someone who doesn’t need the job and quit the next day.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Family Dollar Assistant Manager: Stay with an optimistic mind frame. Always want to be optimistic because Family Dollar, it hires a lot of people and a lot of people leave sometimes so you got to stay with an optimistic mind frame and just know that things will get better and things will be all right and you should get the job. As long as you stay professional and you take it serious, I know it’s Family Dollar but you want to take it serious.

Salary in Serbia by profession according to the opinions of Russians

When moving to Serbia from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine or the Republic of Belarus, the question arises – how can you make good money in Serbia and what is the salary of specialists in different professions? After all, your standard of living and comfort depend on this, which a priori should not be lower than that which was before the change of residence and immigration to another state. Otherwise, such geolocation simply loses all meaning.

In order to correctly perceive the Republic of Serbia as a place for permanent residence, one must take into account the fact that the Balkans are far from the leaders in terms of living standards in 2022, but at the same time they overtake Russia and China by 10 positions. Everything is made up of little things that cannot be discarded when preparing for a move, starting with budgeting, taking into account the prospect of earning money in a new place. nine0003

We will figure out what the salary in Serbia is by profession and industry, how much a Russian can earn in Serbia, how to make payments to employees and in stores, and also how to resolve the issue with a foreign account without a residence permit.

nine0044 Which banks in Serbia serve Russians?

Probably the most important issue for Russians, who are concerned not only with salaries in Serbia, but also with access to the banking sector. In 2022, according to the reviews of the Russians who moved, some difficulties with opening an account in the Balkans can be noted.

The reasons for this are very different:

  • The mentality of the Serbs, who do everything slowly and unhurriedly. Naturally, opening an account, receiving and processing documents can take several weeks or even months. nine0008
  • Lack of a residence permit as the main argument for denial of banking services for Russians. At the same time, the residence permit itself can be issued only if you have a Serbian bank account. This is where the vicious circle comes in.
  • Faith in a bright future for foreign citizens who naively believe that they are welcome in Serbia with open arms and are ready to immediately issue a card to pay for purchases and payments in stores using only one passport. In fact, no one is waiting for you, unless the level of the investment contribution is calculated as a sum with six zeros. nine0008
  • It is also worth considering the bureaucratic aspects of the Serbian state, where (according to Russians), the requirements for clients are commensurate with those that were present in Russia in the era of the 2000s.
  • Legal illiteracy is one of the reasons that creates a lot of obstacles on the way to registering a card account in Serbian banks. It is necessary to take into account all the requirements of the bank and fulfill them unconditionally. As our clients note, it is much easier to do this through an intermediary, including through our foreign partners. From you – documents, from us – an invoice. And no problem. nine0008

You can open a foreign personal account through our foreign partners not only in Serbia, but also in other countries of the world. Fill out the form and get a preliminary consultation of experienced experts!

Where and how to open a personal account in Serbia for Russians?

Recall that Visa and MasterCard cards of Russian banks are no longer accepted abroad, and as an alternative, you can use cards from the Chinese UnionPay payment system, but only issued in banks outside the Russian Federation. If you already have such a card, it will be useful to know that you can withdraw cash from UnionPay at ATMs in Serbia far from everywhere. nine0003

Some financial institutions whose ATMs serve UnionPay in Serbia: Banka Poštanska štedionica, EuroBank Direktna, NLB bank, Banca Intesa, OTP banka, Komercijalna banka.

If your task is to move to Serbia, find a job and subsequently receive a salary, then this cannot be done without a personal account. In 2022, Serbian banks check Russian clients very carefully and require the following documents/information to be provided:

  • Purpose and reason for opening an account in Serbia. nine0008
  • Passport.
  • Serbian phone number.
  • Address of registration in the country of permanent residence.
  • Email address.
  • Document on business activity in Serbia or employment.
  • Confirmed origin of funds to be credited to the Serbian account.
  • White cardboard to be collected from the police station within 24 hours after entering Serbia. Banks do not accept cardboard from a hotel or hostel. The real address at the place of residence must be indicated – rented or personal. nine0008

Unfortunately, nepotism still exists in Serbian banks, and it is very difficult for foreigners (especially Russians) to open an account quickly and without problems without connections. For a separate payment, our partners in Serbia will help to do this.

We will help you open an account in Serbia remotely (by proxy) or in person. Write to us by contacts (messengers +372 5 489 53 37, +381 6911 12327) and get an answer as soon as possible.

Where to look for a job in Serbia? nine0045

The level of his salary depends on what kind of work a foreigner gets in Serbia. But, we want to upset you, it will be problematic to find a job without knowledge of the Serbian language. Also in the Balkans there is a large job search, which inevitably leads to a decrease in offers from employers.

Based on the experience of expats and feedback from Russians who have already moved to Serbia, we will give some advice: as well as local newspapers and social media groups. nine0008

  • The most decent salary for newly arrived foreigners in Serbia is for programmers and freelancers who can work in any country in the world. This format is recommended by most immigrants, including in the field of international business.
  • If you have minimal savings, you can open a startup in Serbia and register your own company, which is also a promising direction for increasing the level of prosperity.
  • You should not count on quick and good earnings immediately after moving, because all you can find is low-paid working specialties, including a janitor, a maid, a handyman, and so on. This income will barely be enough to pay rent for an apartment and food. nine0008

To register a company in Serbia or open a branch of a foreign business, write to us at [email protected] and get comprehensive professional assistance.
