A satellite campus of Winter Park Tech, Orange County Public Schools, the Avalon Center for Technical Excellence opened in the summer of 2008 to serve the East Orange County community. Its four initial programs are:

In the first half of the school day, students attend general courses (mathematics, history, science, biology, English), as well as advanced courses (calculus, biology, chemistry, physics, US government). Academy graduates easily enter the most prestigious educational institutions.
Students spend the afternoon at the Mike Bender Golf Academy, located in the golf club. There they train according to a unique methodology developed specifically for the academy and designed to educate world-class professional golfers.
Junior School (3 years – 5th grade)
Children learn according to a balanced and personalized plan that provides for planned academic and social development, and also provides an opportunity for in-depth study of mathematics and literature. The weekly schedule includes lessons in natural history, social studies, Spanish or Chinese, computer literacy, music, acting, visual arts, physical education and personal development.
Secondary school (grades 6-8)
Secondary school focuses on developing critical thinking skills. School disciplines, including the level of Honors (attestation) and Pre-AP (preparation for Advanced Placement), in combination with extracurricular activities contribute to the formation of a comprehensively developed personality. All children study foreign languages, mathematics, natural and social sciences, attend physical education classes and electives.
The core curriculum is English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Writing. Students are divided into groups according to ability (3 levels). Learning materials are the same everywhere, but in higher-level groups, the material is completed faster, and homework and classwork are more difficult.
Senior School (grades 9-12)
The curriculum consists of Advanced Placement, Honors courses and electives. The main goal of education is preparation for college, final qualifying work and adulthood.
Attestation requirements provide for the accumulation of an academic minimum of 26 credits (usually 1 credit = annual assessment in the subject) in the following disciplines:
- English – 4 credits
- Social Studies – 4 credits
- Natural Sciences – 4 credits
- Mathematics – 4 credits
- Foreign Language (Spanish, Chinese or Latin) – 3 credits
- Sanitary 28 Fine Arts Education – 5 credits
- Physical Education – 1 credit
- General Electives – 4 credits
Pre-Admission Courses (AP): English Language and Writing, English Literature and Writing, European History, State Theory, US History, World History, statistics, AB calculus, biology, chemistry, ecology, physics, Spanish, Latin.
Electives: media theory, business/entrepreneurship, introduction to the humanities, rhetoric.
Education for foreigners
A language support program is provided for foreign students. For admission, it is enough to have basic knowledge of English and high school performance. Together with American peers, foreigners attend classes in the natural, social sciences and arts. Children from other countries who speak English well can study some subjects at an advanced level, studying with high school students. Twice a year trips are organized to the cities of the USA and Europe.
