The teachers are excellent, and so are the opportunities offered to students! I loved most of my classes and teachers throughout my time here. However, the music and sports departments are amazing, and we’re nationally recognized for our speech and debate team. The STEM classes are also great. My one complaint would be that some of the administrators, especially at the senior high, are difficult to approach and unhelpful.

Overall, the district is amazing, and the staff is usually pretty friendly and approachable. Teachers are very helpful and continually strive to help students succeed to the best of their ability. Students are very hard-working, which provides a motivational environment! The schools do a great job at helping with college readiness and providing resources for students, as well as being a safe and diverse community.

I love that North Allegheny is so safe and welcoming. They offer countless sports, clubs, and activities to make sure every student is involved in some way. Not only are there many activities, North Allegheny also has the best teachers and is ranked super high in academics in Pennsylvania. Since there are so many students attending North Allegheny, it is very hard to make a sports team. To make up for this, cross country and football are no cut sports that everybody could play and as I mentioned earlier, there are many clubs to choose from. I think school lunches in elementary and middle school could improve, but other than that I wouldn’t change a thing!

Overall Mt. Lebanon strives to reach perfections with an amazing staff, incredible curriculum, and overall a very successful school. I left one star off because of the pressure this environment creates, students such as my self are constantly trying to come out on top leaving the energy and spirit of Mt. Lebanon to diminish the sense of community most schools have. Along side of this heartbreaking aspect of Lebo, students find imbalances in their lives. Working long hours on homework at night, practicing for sports or clubs an unhealthy amount and pushing themselves to hard to get into a good college. That being said almost every student gets into the college of their choice, this is due to the incredible English department and the writing skills the students learn in the coarse of 4 years. I love waking up and going to Mount Lebanon School every morning but there is still changes that need to be made.

As a student who attends Mt. Lebanon, I can personally attest to how great the academic opportunities offered are. The STEM program in particular is amazing as it gives students opportunities to shadow in different fields, listen to speakers, or participate in competitions. Many people say that “college is what you make of it,” and the same can be said for Mt. Lebanon. Many students go through the school district without participating in any of the academic programs, clubs, or sports, but many other students fully take advantage of the opportunties. The students that do receive a much richer and fuller education. My biggest complaint about the school is the lack of socioeconomic diversity. Particularly, I find it frustrating during English classes when discussing because majority of the school is white, upper middle class. This lack of diversity causes a lack of perspective for students.

We have had three children graduate from the school district. The most recent being Spring 2018. We had moved several times before moving to Mt Lebanon and the level of commitment one sees from Mt Lebanon’s teachers is not typical.

The school district has served the community for generations and focuses on maintaining “traditions”. This includes being “old fashioned” in that teachers set high expectations for students, expect them to work hard, and do not “give everyone a trophy”. The teachers likewise work hard, and the high school teachers will gladly come in early in the morning and help your son or daughter if they ask for help.

However, the administration and teachers do not use “tradition” to block change. They are aggressive in using new technology and adopting new methods when they make sense and are proven.

The school district also has good balance between sports and non-sports extracurricular activities. There is something for every kid.

An unidentified man opened fire Wednesday at a school in the US city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, local media reported. nine0015

Three students were injured, one of them is in critical condition, ITAR-TASS reports.

The police are currently searching the area for the alleged perpetrator. Several streets around the school are closed.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the Associated Press agency, three students were injured as a result of the shooting.

Pittsburgh school district spokesman Ebony Pugh told the agency that the students had left the school building and were heading for the car of one of them. At that moment, unknown people fired several shots at the students. According to her, the shooting took place some distance from the school, and the criminals did not approach her building. The police blocked the streets in the area of the incident and are looking for the shooters.

Shootings are not uncommon in the United States, but the tragedy that occurred last December in Connecticut, where 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot 20 children and six adults at a local school, caused the greatest public outcry. It was after this tragedy that a discussion began in the United States about the need to tighten the rules for the sale of weapons. nine0008

In mid-January, President Barack Obama announced the launch of a program to prevent the increase in the number of crimes in the country. At the end of September, the president called for the resumption of discussions on restrictions on arms trafficking.

Pushilin: The military in Makiivka showed courage and heroism, saving their comrades

The servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces showed courage and real heroism, rescuing comrades from a damaged building, when they came under attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Makeevka on January 1, Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, said.

In his Telegram channel, Pushilin wrote that most of the military, barely getting out of the building damaged by American HIMARS, came to their senses and returned back to pull out their comrades. Then, when the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived, they helped them rescue the others. nine0008

Pushilin noted that some of the dead are those who died returning to save their colleagues.

Recall that as a result of the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the US-made HIMARS MLRS at the temporary deployment point of one of the units of the Russian Armed Forces in Makeyevka on New Year’s Eve, 89 Russian servicemen were killed. The main reason for the death of the Russian military in Makiivka was the inclusion and massive use by personnel, contrary to the ban, of phones in the reach of enemy weapons. nine0008

The Ministry of Defense called the cause of the death of Russian soldiers in Makeyevka

The main reason for the death of Russian servicemen in Makeevka was the inclusion and massive use of telephones by personnel within the reach of enemy weapons, said Lieutenant General Sergei Sevryukov, First Deputy Chief of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the RF Armed Forces. nine0015

The general said that the main reason for the incident was the inclusion and massive use by personnel, contrary to the ban, of mobile phones, which allowed the enemy to track and determine the coordinates of the location of Russian military personnel for a missile attack, TASS reports.

Sevryukov assured that the necessary measures are being taken to prevent such tragedies in the future, a commission is working to investigate the circumstances of the incident, and following the results of the investigation, the guilty officials will be held accountable. nine0008

Recall, on January 2, the RF Ministry of Defense announced the death on New Year’s Eve of 63 Russian servicemen as a result of an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the US-made HIMARS MLRS at the point of temporary deployment of one of the units of the Russian Armed Forces in Makeevka.

Journalists established a connection between the fake “Council of Wives and Mothers” and a fraudster who fled Russia

nine0005

The head of the so-called “Council of Wives and Mothers” Olga Tsukanova was the right hand of the scandalous “healer” Svetlana Piunova, who was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia on charges of fraud. This is stated in the investigation of the journalist Andrei Ivlev, shown in the Vesti.ru program. Duty department.”

The report, which aired on the Rossiya 24 TV channel, notes that it is impossible to find the organization’s address or phone number on the Web. The movement “Council of Wives and Mothers” appeared in September 2022 in Samara, it works in social networks and instant messengers. nine0008

At the same time, the journalists found the alleged office of the organization in Samara. Previously, the office of the scandalous healer Svetlana Piunova, who was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia on charges of fraud, was also located there.

As the journalist notes, Tsukanova was Piunova’s right hand. The organization, created on the same day as the partial mobilization began, could also be the work of Piunova, the report says. Previously, she practiced healing, then scared the adepts with the end of the world, and when it did not happen, she began to talk about the reptilians and the planet Nibiru. nine0008

Ekaterina Vasca, Doctor of Psychology, studied Piunova’s work. She believes that these books have a great and dangerous influence on people’s minds.

“She (Piunova) has nothing to do with science. The activities of her organization were recognized as extremist. They (“Council of Wives and Mothers”) play, they manipulate, they speculate on the highest and deepest feelings of women who, like tigresses, rush to protect their men,” Vasca commented on the activities of the council. nine0008

The essence of the work of the “Council of Wives and Mothers” is to search the Internet for relatives of the mobilized. As noted in the investigation, they are found not to help, but to force them to criticize, even if there are no reasons for this.

“Any hype topics are suitable for recruitment. It is possible that such pseudo-public activists are ready to interpret any tragedy as a reason to receive funding from abroad from their sponsors and special services,” journalist Ivlev concluded. nine0008

Earlier, the hacking of the Telegram chat of supporters of the Council of Mothers and Wives showed that some of these people actively participated in protests, were detained by the police, supported Alexei Navalny (included in the list of extremists and terrorists).

Belgium was surprised by the result of anti-Russian sanctions

RTBF: The life of Russians has not changed after the tightening of Western sanctions

Anti-Russian sanctions do not encourage Russians to take to the streets with protests, as their daily lives have not changed after toughening from the West, correspondent Louis Portal of the Belgian television and radio company RTBF admitted after visiting Moscow. nine0015

According to the journalist, Western brands of cosmetics, fashion or food that left Russia were simply replaced. So, the vacant places in shopping centers were quickly taken by Russian, Turkish or Chinese companies. At the same time, the absence of some branded luxury items upsets only wealthy Russians, who, in turn, can travel around Europe and afford to buy the things they want there,” RIA Novosti reports.

The publicist noted that the industry suffered the most, as it faced a shortage of electronic components. According to Portal, it will take many months, if not years, for the Russian economy to “kneel,” which some Western officials would like back in March.

The VZGLYAD newspaper told why the West failed to break Russia from the outside.

The Senate announced the approach of the United States to the brink of the abyss

Republican Senator Rubio: The incompetence of the elites has brought the US to the edge of the abyss

Decades of rule by incompetent American elites have brought the United States to the brink, Republican Senator Marco Rubio said in an article for The American Conservative.

The senator noted that over time, one factor remains unchanged in the United States: the establishment is more interested in accumulating power than in improving the lives of ordinary Americans. He stated that decades of this decadence and incompetence had brought America to the brink. As the legislator noted, during this time, devastation befell America, institutions were destroyed, faith was marginalized, and the common good is now ignored, RIA Novosti reports. nine0008

The senator admitted that the list of vulnerabilities in the United States is very long. To save the country, in his opinion, three main tasks must be completed. First, to balance the American economy by “putting Wall Street in its place.” Secondly, it is necessary to return the most important industries to the United States, pursuing an aggressive pro-American industrial policy. Third, according to the senator, it is necessary to restore the position of the American workforce, as globalization and outsourcing have destroyed the only reliable path to a stable and prosperous life available to millions of Americans. Rubio noted with regret that in the United States, the place of families and collectives was taken by death and despair. nine0008

At the same time, the Republican called China the main foreign policy challenge and the most pressing threat to the United States. Rubio also opined that Europe in the 21st century should take the lead in the region and not rely on Washington.

Recall that at the end of December, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev predicted the separation of California and Texas into independent states and a civil war in the United States.

The Prime Minister of Japan announced a turning point in the history of the world

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida announced that the world is at a historic turning point

The world is facing major challenges – regional and global – and is at a historic turning point, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in a statement posted on the G7 Japanese Presidency website. nine0015

According to Kishida, the world is at a historical turning point because of the coronavirus pandemic and the situation around Ukraine. The Japanese Prime Minister said that the Group of Seven (G7) strongly rejects any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force, threat or use of nuclear weapons, and also supports an international order based on the rule of law, TASS reports.

Among the challenges facing the international community, Kishida singled out the difficult situation in the global economy, energy and food security, regional issues, including the situation around Ukraine and in Asia, the topics of nuclear disarmament, climate change and global health. nine0008

NYT spoke about the sevenfold advantage of Russian drones over Ukrainian air defense

NYT: Russian drones cost seven times cheaper than Ukrainian air defense missiles that try to shoot them down0008

The price of UAVs used by Russia can reach as little as $20,000, while the launch of a surface-to-air missile used by Ukraine to destroy a drone reaches $500,000, The New York Times writes, citing information from the head of a Ukrainian consulting firm. company “Molfar” Artem Starosek. nine0015

According to him, launching a missile of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, which costs $140,000, is the cheapest. The US $500,000 NASAMS strike is much more expensive. At the same time, experts note the risk associated with the difference in the cost of UAVs and the means used against them. Experts agreed that military needs are costly for Ukraine and its allies, RBC reports with reference to the NYT.

Starosek also urged to take into account the costs of destroying UAVs, since it costs much less to shoot down one than to repair a damaged or destroyed power plant. nine0008

In conclusion, the expert added that at the moment Ukraine is completely dependent on the supplies of Western allies, but there is a growing risk that “these allies will eventually get tired of the costs.”

The day before, the European Commission announced its intention to transfer funds from new macro-financial assistance to Ukraine totaling up to 18 billion euros in 2023 on a “predictable monthly” basis.

In Kyiv, Israeli Foreign Minister Cohen was reproached for talking with Lavrov

Ukraine was outraged by the conversation of the new Israeli Foreign Minister Cohen with Lavrov

Ukraine is outraged by the behavior of the new Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, who had a talk with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk told the Times of Israel. nine0015

According to the ambassador, the position of the Israeli authorities in relation to the special operation remains “unclear” for Kyiv. The grandson of General de Gaulle told about a conspiracy against Russia0008

The number and depth of anti-Russian sanctions indicate that the West planned a conspiracy against Russia in advance, Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of former French President General Charles de Gaulle, told the Franco-Russian Dialogue Association.

According to him, the imposed sanctions are “a real economic war”, from which the US clearly benefits. Moreover, De Gaulle noted that Russia is not to blame for the economic and financial crisis, since the Russians “are simply protecting themselves from 11,000 sanctions and the last ninth package,” which, in his opinion, is “quite legal and natural,” Lenta reports. .ru” with reference to AgoraVox. nine0008

In addition, De Gaulle criticized the West’s actions to freeze Russian assets and added that “no other nation since the persecution of Jews during World War II has experienced such plunder as the Russian people today.”

Earlier, Belgium admitted that anti-Russian sanctions do not encourage Russians to take to the streets with protests, since their daily life has not changed after the tightening by the West.

The leaders of the German opposition, the CDU and the CSU, Friedrich Merz and Markus Söder demanded that Christine Lambrecht be removed from the post of German Defense Minister.

Politicians told the Munchner Merkur newspaper that the Bundeswehr deserves a more competent leader. The reason for their dissatisfaction was a series of scandals related to Lambrecht, RIA Novosti reports.

On Tuesday evening, the first ever transgender woman, Amber McLaughlin, who was accused of murder 20 years ago, was executed in Missouri, media reports. nine0015

US Congressmen from Missouri, Democrats Corey Bush and Emanuel Cleaver worked hard to pardon Amber. Defenders pointed to serious mental problems of the prisoner, because of which she “had to change sex” in order to “get out of her shell.” However, the jury “did not hear about this fact” and “delivered a fair verdict.” After that, Missouri Governor Mike Parson rejected the request for clemency and signed the death penalty, Vesti.ru reports with reference to CNN. nine0008

The inscription “Heroic Defense of Russia” appeared on the Polish TV channel

The inscription “Heroic Defense of Russia” was seen on the ticker of the Polish channel TVP Info

On the running line of the Polish TV channel TVP Info appeared the inscription “Heroic Defense of Russia”, reports Gazeta Polska.

At the moment when the red running strip with the words “Heroic Defense of Russia” appeared, the host was talking about the conflict in Ukraine, Lenta.ru reports.

Representatives of the TV channel did not comment on the situation.

Previously, the broadcasting of Dozhd* (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) was banned in Latvia after several violations from the point of view of the Latvian authorities by the TV channel, in particular, after the host’s words “our army” to the Russian troops. Aleksey Korostelev was fired, but later the channel’s license was taken away in Lithuania and Estonia. nine0008

It also became known that Latvia may take away visas from employees of the Dozhd* TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) after revoking the license of the media.
