A school with a true heart and soul. Our programs incorporate dynamic classroom instruction with caring, qualified teachers and enriching indoor and outdoor play experiences. We know that these first experiences within a school setting will have a long lasting impact on children’s future learning.
Philosophy
We embrace a philosophy of education that combines a nurturing, inclusive learning environment with an increasingly challenging academic program that addresses the developmental needs of each child.
In addition to academics – social and emotional well-being also plays a significant role in a child’s development. Our curriculum, various activities, and daily experiences provide children with opportunities for a fun, enriching and exciting time while they make long lasting relationships. We create a positive environment which encourages children to explore their surroundings on a daily basis. Upon completion of our program, we believe that your child’s well-rounded experiences will provide them the necessary strengths for emotional, social, cognitive, gross/fine motor, and academic excellence.

A History of Excellence
For over 35 years Turtle Rock Preschool has started children off on a lifetime of learning in a nurturing educational environment where each child feels happy, respected, proud, secure and loved. Ours was the first school in Irvine to attain elite accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Since then we have maintained continuous accreditation by meeting all ten Early Childhood Program Standards – with over 400 individual criteria.
This history has culminated in an organization that provides children and families the individual attention they need while providing world-class resources and an extensive scope of early childhood programs. Turtle Rock provides an experience that few schools can match: from our Preschool children corresponding with President Obama to providing state-of-the-art learning facilities for our Kindergarteners to offering multiple community-wide events each year.
Diversity
Turtle Rock’s commitment to diversity is integral to the mission of the school. The different perspectives and experiences of our families define the fabric of our community. These many perspectives and experiences contribute to the growth of each child and help form their vision of the world.
The vibrancy and vitality we feel at Turtle Rock comes from the people who are here. At its root are the varied interests and experiences, the different backgrounds, cultures, religions, views, and perspectives that our children, staff and families bring to the school. Each of us adds to the richness of another’s experience. Working, learning and playing together teaches us lifelong lessons about appreciating each other, about knowing and understanding each other, about learning from each other.

The art of upbringing has the peculiarity that it seems familiar and understandable to almost everyone, and even easy to others, and the more understandable and easier it seems, the less a person is familiar with it, theoretically or practically.

My view of the world
If you want to do well – do it yourself!!! My portfolio0162
Parents and teachers have always been concerned about the question: how to ensure the full development of the child in preschool childhood? How to prepare him for school?
I build my work on one of the aspects of this problem – the development of fine motor skills of the fingers.
The level of development of fine motor skills and coordination of hand movements is one of the indicators of intellectual development and, consequently, readiness for schooling.
As a rule, a child with a high level of development of fine motor skills is able to reason logically, he has quite well developed attention and memory, coherent speech. Teachers note that first-graders often experience serious difficulties in mastering the skill of writing. Unwillingness to write, insufficient development of fine motor skills can lead to a negative attitude to learning, an anxious state of the child at school. Therefore, at preschool age it is important to develop the mechanisms necessary for mastering writing, to create conditions for the accumulation of practical motor experience by the child, and the development of manual skills.
In the program “From childhood to adolescence” from 1 to 4 of the group of authors led by T.N. Doronova (on which our kindergarten works) a lot of attention is paid to the development of fine motor skills. A rich developmental environment has been created in my group, which corresponds to the age characteristics of children.
Manuals and games contribute to the development of fine motor skills and coordination of hand movements, stimulate visual and auditory perception, attention, memory, coherent speech and vocabulary. I change them periodically throughout the year.
Since September 2006, I have been running the Young Wizards club. Photos of our work have been repeatedly published in the Do-It-Yourself newspaper, Toloka Publishing House (Harvest Festival, crafts from vegetables and cereals, No. 18, September 2009; Button Pictures, No. 19, October 2009; Let’s color the winter !”, figures from the snow, No. 7, April 2010)
In my work, I offer the child such types of manual labor, during which a preschooler can get pleasure and a certain emotional release, a high-quality and aesthetically attractive product. Working with younger preschoolers, I take into account restlessness, lack of skills, underdevelopment of the child’s hand, weak arbitrariness and not focused on the result of activity.
Making crafts requires deft movements from a child, and if at the beginning he often damaged a toy with an inaccurate movement of his hand, then later, in the process of systematic work, the hand acquires accuracy, confidence, and fingers become flexible.
All this is important for preparing the hand for writing, for learning activities at school. Manual labor contributes to the development of sensorimotor skills, consistency in the work of the eye and hand, improvement of movements, flexibility, accuracy in performing actions. In the process of making crafts, a system of special skills and abilities is gradually formed. V.A. Sukhomlinsky wrote: “The origins of the abilities and talents of children at their fingertips. From the fingers, figuratively speaking, the thinnest streams flow, which feed the source of creative thought.
To achieve the desired result, I work closely with the parents. Parents repeatedly, with genuine pleasure, participated in competitions announced in kindergarten. The group has a corner for parents, which offers consultations, literature and manuals.
