Our Facility – Kinder Academy

Our Facility – Kinder Academy – Windsor day care

We at Kinder Academy are committed to providing exceptional care for our children and their families. Our goal is to create a loving, nurturing environment where children are free to sing, dance, explore, create, and learn. Kinder Academy is monitored by The Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

All Kinder Academy employees hold a degree in early childhood education, are certified in First Aid and CPR, and have passed extensive background and reference checks. We pride ourselves in employing only the best teachers and staff to care for your children. All staff members are trained on appropriate curricula for your children at every level of their development. Kinder Academy’s state-of-the-art centre has met or exceeded all building code requirements. Our facility contains an extensive security system which includes:

  • Fingerprint Access: A fingerprint interface will be installed on every door in our facility. Fingerprint identification is the most secure form of access control, because unlike a pin or swipe card it cannot be obtained from or given to another person. Fingerprint access will provide our children with enhanced state-of-the-art security and provide our parents and caregivers peace of mind. Only our Staff, parents and caregivers will be registered into the system and able to gain access to our facility with a quick touch of their fingers. However, before a visitor is granted access to our facility, he or she is required to page the reception desk and state the reason for the visit. No visitors are permitted to simply enter the building under any circumstance. We have a strict security policy that must be adhered to at all times. Kinder Academy has an open door policy, so parents and caregivers may come and see their children as much as they would like throughout the day.
  • Security Cameras: Indoor and outdoor security cameras are located throughout our facility for your children’s continued safety.

Our centre also includes:

  • 12 classrooms;
  • Two kitchens, which are monitored by our local Health Unit, where your children’s snacks and lunches are prepared daily by our wonderful, certified cook Mrs, Theresa;
  • a large outdoor playground equipped with an exciting splash pad for those hot, sunny days. and playground surfacing to ensure a “soft landing”;
  • security cameras and fingerprint access to increase safety;
  • a large indoor gymnasium, which is great for rainy days and contains a soft and safe infant/toddler play area that is great for gross motor activities, like rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and walking. The older children are able to run, skip, and play with our many games, puzzles, riding toys, and more that our gymnasium has to offer;
  • a professional cleaning staff, which comes on a regular basis to thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sanitize our day care facility.

REGGIO EMILIA APPROACH

Children learn best and are fully engaged when they have an active part in their curriculum. Our Curriculum will be derived from the interest of the children in our care for example (boats, plants, dinosaurs, transportation, etc.) Instead of sitting back and merely observing the children teachers will actively engage themselves in all activities alongside the children. Through active listening and participation the teachers will plan projects, events and field trips to best fit the interest of the children at that time. Projects could last for a week or the whole year depending on how long the interests hold in the group. Projects will also be derived from family events or traditions, multicultural holidays and so on. The Reggio Emilia approach considers the classroom to be the “third teacher”. Documentation, plant life, Projects, pictures and dialogue will be displayed in the classroom for children and parents to enjoy relive and remember. Parents are encouraged to participate as much as possible during their child`s time with us.

Due to the potential for severe/fatal allergies, NO PEANUT OR PEANUT PRODUCTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL.

Kinder Academy’s Menus have been set with the assistance of our Health Unit to ensure we are meeting the Canada Food Guide requirements and that we are providing a well-balanced selection of food. If there are any foods to which your child has a sensitivity or allergy, please tell us and we will make appropriate substitutions. A nutritious lunch, as well as two nutritious snacks, will be provided daily. A summer and winter menu is offered. These menus are rotated on a 4 week basis. Children are encouraged to try all foods served and to eat as little or as much as they like. If you have any questions or concerns about the menus, feel free to discuss them with Ms. Tina Salvatore.

Infants Only: Parents of young infants must supply their own baby food, fruit juices, and prepared formulas in sterilized bottles — we will provide regular table food once your child is developmentally ready. Our infant program has its own fridge and microwave, so that we can meet your child’s individual needs. Written feeding instructions are necessary for children under one year of age –these can be updated as your child’s menu expands.

Windsor Castle in Great Britain – photo and description Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the most beautiful and largest castle in Great Britain, owned by the royal family and being their country residence. The castle is located in Windsor, Berkshire, 43 km from London. The residence is an architectural gem and a concentration of British cultural values. Along with Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle is one of the most visited attractions in Albion. nine0003

Windsor Castle is located on a hill with a magnificent panorama of the Thames. The residence began its history under William the Conqueror in 1066. Then Windsor Castle was located in the territories of hunting grounds and looked like a wooden structure. His goal was to keep an eye on one of the roads towards London.

Over the course of 100 years, the building has undergone numerous alterations and reconstructions. The most significant changes occurred during the reign of Henry II Plantagenet. Under him, the first stone walls were erected. After that, each subsequent ruler necessarily made his own changes to the appearance of the castle. Thanks to this, we can observe a variety of canvases, frescoes, tapestries that reflect the history of the monarchical rule of various eras. nine0003

In 1386, the wedding of the first Portuguese King of the Avis dynasty, João I, with John of Gaunt’s daughter, Philippa of Lancaster, took place at Windsor Castle. This was the beginning of the Anglo-Portuguese alliance, which lasted until the middle of the 20th century.

Fire at Windsor Castle

On November 20, 1992, Windsor Castle suffered a fire. The fire started in the chapel, the fire quickly spread throughout the residence, it could not be extinguished for 15 hours. By the way, on this day the royal couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. The fire damaged an area of 9000 sq.m. The amount of damage amounted to more than 37 million pounds.

For the restoration of Windsor, they decided to open Buckingham Palace to tourists, so all the proceeds from the tickets went to the renovation. The work was carried out for five years, during which time half of the affected rooms were restored – some of them returned to their previous appearance, and some received a new look, but in accordance with the general style. This event was the largest restoration in the history of Windsor Castle. nine0003

Excursion to Windsor Castle: what’s inside

Today, everyone has access to many buildings and rooms of the palace. From the first seconds, the gates of Henry VII amaze with their grandeur. Further, visitors enter the halls, the Throne Room, the royal apartments. Here you can see numerous paintings by Anthony van Dyck, Rubens, George Stubbs and others.
St. George’s Chapel

The College of St George’s Chapel, the main temple of the Knights of the Garter, cannot be ignored. The shrine was erected by the monarch Edward III in 1348. This building of the Gothic style is a vivid example of English architecture of the Middle Ages. Today St. George’s Chapel belongs to the Anglican Church. 35 members of the royal family are buried here, including Charles I, George VI, Queen Mother Elizabeth. nine0003

Queen Mary’s Doll’s House

Another interesting thing to see here is Queen Mary’s Doll’s House. Queen Mary (grandmother of the current Queen Elizabeth II), wife of George V, was famous for her art collecting and love. One day, the king’s cousin, Princess Marie-Louise, presented the queen with an unusually beautiful dollhouse. Although it is difficult to call it a “house”, since the dimensions of the product are 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 m, the scale is 1:12. nine0003

Dollhouse made in 1921-1924. the eminent architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. Also, the best English miniature masters and artists had a hand in it. In total, about 1500 craftsmen worked on the project. In particular, such famous writers as Arthur Conan Doyle and Alan Milne took part, who wrote short stories for the mini-library.

In addition to the library, in the dollhouse you can see a wine cellar with bottles of wine, champagne and other drinks; copies of original paintings, a magnificent piano; “underground” parking with motorcycles and limousines; chapel with icons; knightly armor and even an outdoor garden in front of the entrance, made by garden designer Gertrude Jekyll. nine0003

This project was timed and exhibited at the British Imperial Exhibition to stimulate local crafts and trade. The royal dollhouse was seen by more than one and a half million people.

Round Tower

When visiting the residence, be sure to try to climb the Round Tower. It is the highest point of Windsor Castle – the height is more than 60 m. Only a water bottle and a camera are allowed on the tower, bags and backpacks must be left below. nine0003
