Exploring Day Care | Texas Health and Human Services

One of the biggest decisions a parent has to make is choosing a caregiver for their child. So, the more you know, the better they’ll grow! While a caregiver’s time with your child can’t replace your own love and attention, choosing quality child care will help develop the whole child by fostering self-esteem and cognitive, language and social skills.

Child Care Regulation educates parents and the public on Texas regulations and laws about child care, empowers families to choose regulated child care and expands the child care provider community.

Types of Child Care Operations

How to Search for Child Care

  • Do Your Research. TXchildcaresearch.org is the state’s database of regulated child care providers. You can view permitted child care providers in your area, obtain information on the program and services they offer, and review inspection results. To get started with your child care search, you can ask friends, family and other parents for recommendations. Learn more about the benefits of choosing a regulated child care provider (PDF).
  • Find the Right Fit. While you are gathering information on child care providers, look for features that will help your child thrive. Consider the caregiver’s education, experience and training, as well as the setting and size of the group.
  • Check Them Out. Once you have narrowed down your search, visit each child care operation with your child when children are present. Observe their activities, how the caregiver interacts with the children and how the children like it there. Put yourself in your child’s shoes. Would you like to spend the day at this child care operation? Does your child seem to like it? Meet the caregiver or director. Ask questions and discuss your concerns. Make sure you are happy with their answers. If you are still trying to decide, return unannounced for a second visit. Download this checklist to help you (PDF).

What Should I ask When I Interview a Potential Caregiver?

  • May I see your state permit and your last inspection?
  • What experience and training do you have in caring for children?
  • How many children do you care for, and how do you ensure that you meet all their needs?
  • May I see your operational policies so I can learn more about your services?
  • What’s a typical day like for a child in your care?
  • How do you protect the health and safety of children in your care?
  • What type of safe sleep practices do you follow?
  • How do you discipline children?
  • How do you handle emergencies, and under what circumstances will you contact me?
  • How will you discuss progress and concerns related to my child?

Stay Involved in Your Child’s Care

Once you pick a child care center or home, it’s important to stay involved in your child’s care. That’s the best way to make sure your child is happy, safe, learning and developing.

  • Keep talking with the caregiver. Ask to see weekly activity plans and menus. Ask how your child is behaving, getting along with others, making progress, and adjusting the new environment.
  • Keep talking with your child. Ask them how the day went, what they did, who they saw, or if anything special happened. If your child doesn’t want to go back, find out why and follow up with the caregiver.

Report anything that could affect your child’s health or safety as soon as possible. Call the toll-free Texas Abuse Hotline 24/7 at 800-252-5400 or visit txabusehotline.org if you suspect a child has been abused or neglected, or if you think a child care center or home is operating without a state permit. For emergencies, call 911. The law protects people who make a report in good faith from legal liability.

What makes up my self-care: 10 main rules and principles

I sincerely do not understand girls who powder people’s brains and claim that they do nothing, well, nothing at all with themselves. Today I am 43 years old, and I do not hide from anyone how I take care of myself, how much time, money and effort I spend on it. Men like well-groomed women, and I am pleased when they call me not only beautiful, but also well-groomed. After all, my appearance today is the result of a lot of work, this is my achievement, and not heredity or a fortunate combination of circumstances.

1. My basic personal care kit always includes sunscreen. Yes, I can look into the solarium, but these are isolated cases – 5-7 times a year, and I never forget about protecting my skin from ultraviolet radiation. I am careful about tanning and never cross the line, after which it turns into harm.

2. I adhere to the principle that skin should be looked after, not glossed over. I always have mascara, lipstick and lip gloss in my cosmetic bag, but I do not like it when there is a lot of powder and tone on the skin. And on days when I’m not filming, I use makeup to a minimum and I believe that makeup should not overshadow a woman and hide her real face.

3. I am convinced that improperly shaped eyebrows can spoil any face. I tried to do a tattoo, I had an incredible master who fantastically felt the shape and competently recreated it. But I also really like high-quality coloring, but here it is important that the master does not make mistakes and does not go too far with the dye.

4. I definitely supplement salon procedures with home care and conscientiously follow all the instructions of specialists. I cleanse my skin in the morning and, most importantly, in the evening, apply serums and creams according to special schemes, not a single day goes by that I do not make a mask – moisturizing, cleansing, collagen. I also have my own d’Arsonval apparatus, with which I take care of my face and hair.

5. My main criterion in choosing a body cream is that it absorbs quickly. I admit that after a long, busy day at work, I can be lazy to apply the cream from head to toe, but I do not give myself indulgence.

6. At least once a week, and preferably twice, I make hand masks. If the skin of the hands is irritated and flaky, the cream alone is not enough for me and I supplement the care with a special anti-inflammatory healing balm.

7. It took me a long time to choose a pillow, correct and comfortable, which would help to find a position for the head that would not burden the neck muscles. I am sure that this will help prevent the formation of deep circular wrinkles that appear on the neck over the years.

8. I do injection procedures mainly as a course. I do biorevitalization three times a year and spend it on the face, neck, décolleté and hands. Twice a year I do mesotherapy for the area around the eyes and scalp, as well as a course of chemical peels and placentotherapy.

9. My main rule of hair care: if I do styling with a lot of styling, then the next day I let my hair rest, that is, rest globally: I don’t dry it with a hair dryer, I don’t use a flat iron, I just leave it alone and I let it dry naturally.

10. I regularly massage my face and hands. Sometimes I do hand massage on my own: I apply a drop of cosmetic oil and move from the fingertips to the wrists.

  • Mistake #10: Getting attached to the same products almost every girl makes care mistakes. An insignificant mistake at first glance can lead to depressing consequences and become an obstacle on your way to beautiful skin without flaws. Read the results of the investigation in the article and do not repeat the annoying mistakes!

Mistake No. 1. Do not take into account the type and condition of the skin when choosing cosmetics

Remember: you are special and individual in everything! Including the skin and its needs. It is not for nothing that cosmetologists distinguish different types and conditions of the skin: what is good for one skin can be detrimental to another. Therefore, the first step to proper care is to determine the type and condition of your skin, study its features and only then choose cosmetics.

Mistake No. 2. Neglecting sun protection

The tan trend has played a cruel joke on European girls. Many of us are accustomed to seeing a friend in the dazzling sun and joyfully expose our skin to direct rays. Here’s what happens next:

    • Ultraviolet penetrates into the deep layers of the epidermis and dermis and damages the cells.
    • The skin becomes dehydrated and begins to age at an accelerated rate.
    • Firmness and elasticity are lost.
    • A network of dry “sunny” wrinkles is formed.

In some cases, ultraviolet rays cause cellular mutations and hyperpigmentation. Of course, on the surface of the skin, the consequences can be seen far from immediately. They accumulate and appear gradually. But the signs of aging will make themselves felt much sooner than you expect.

Asian women are extremely cautious in this regard. For them, sun protection is not even a stage of skin care, but a daily habit. Korean women use SPF products at a young age. If you want to protect your skin from premature aging and age spots, follow their example.

You can choose and order sunscreens in the Face Bar. Click on this offer.

Mistake No. 3. Washing with alkaline soap

“There is no better cleanser than soap!”. Do you think so too? Then get ready to be surprised and horrified.

Your skin has its own pH balance. The average pH value is 5.5. When this balance is disturbed, the skin begins to give SOS signals:

    • Increases oily sheen.
    • Problematic rashes develop.
    • You feel dry and tight.
    • Peeling and irritation appear.

In most cases, ordinary soap is the culprit. The fact is that soap has an alkaline environment with a high pH of 11-12. After washing with soap, your skin alkalizes , becomes vulnerable to external irritants, loses moisture and becomes dehydrated. Not the most pleasant prospect!

So we boldly put alkaline soap on the list of enemies of our beauty. Replace it with a product that is specially designed for cleansing the face – for example, foam or gel. If you are used to soap, pay attention to soft mineral soap: it acts delicately and does not harm the skin. To choose a cleanser, click right here.

Mistake No. 4. Remove makeup with foam and water

Cosmetologists around the world promote two-stage skin cleansing. This is not a publicity stunt designed to sell you more goods. This is a reasoned and important principle of care.

The beauty ritual always begins with the removal of make-up with special products: hydrophilic oils, cleansing balms, etc. Foams and gels for washing are not able to remove particles of decorative cosmetics! Only oil-based products can cope with this task. They seem to dissolve all makeup and remove impurities to the surface of the skin, from where they can be easily washed off with foam or gel.

If you do not use a separate make-up remover, silicones and other tiny particles of cosmetics remain on your skin and clog into your pores. The result is not difficult to imagine: black dots, inflammatory elements, irritation and other “attributes”.

Click here to go to the make-up remover catalog.

Mistake No. 5. Forget about exfoliation

Your skin is constantly being renewed: dead particles are separated and settled on the surface, and new, young and healthy cells form in their place. To keep the renewal process and the overall condition of the skin normal, it is necessary to exfoliate weekly.

Exfoliation is the exfoliation of the skin to remove dead cells. It is often called peeling, although this term refers to professional chemical procedures. If the skin is not exfoliated, then keratinized particles will already accumulate on the surface layer and in the pores. The effect, to put it mildly, is not very: dull and uneven complexion, comedones, pimples, early wrinkles. Get your exfoliation right now: just click on this offer.

Mistake #6 Exfoliating your face with an aggressive scrub

While some women ignore the exfoliation stage, others furiously rub their skin with scrubs with abrasive particles and try to scratch out all the dead cells. As they say, from one extreme to another!

Rough scrubs damage the skin and strip the protective layer. After such scrubs, the skin is as if naked: external irritants can easily attack it. And if the skin is problematic, then the scrub particles additionally “pick up” pimples and spread rashes all over the face. So do not overdo it and stop at soft scrubs with the smallest particles, like sand, peeling rolls, pads with acids, enzyme masks.

Mistake #7. Skipping the toning step

Toner is one of the most underrated products among our women. Many simply do not know what it is and why it is needed. But toning is one of the mandatory steps and is no less important than cleansing the skin.

After contact with water, your skin loses a lot of moisture. You may feel dryness and tightness. Toner is designed to quickly moisturize the skin, stop drying and prevent dehydration. The toner also removes the metallic particles of running water and improves the permeability of the skin, so that all subsequent products work better.

Despite the similar name, the toner has nothing in common with the usual tonics. The main task of the tonic is additional cleansing. There is no such stage in Korean care, as well as the need for it. But the toner performs much more functions and is the basis for further care.

If you do not use toner, the risk of skin dehydration increases. We have already talked about the external signs of a dehydrated state, but we recall: peeling, oily sheen, increased dryness, early wrinkles.

Click on this offer and you will immediately go to the catalog with tonic products.

Mistake No. 8. Use skin care products “by mood”

Often young girls who do not have skin problems use creams and other products just “for show”. One day they will apply, then they will postpone it for a couple of days, they will remember again … The point in such care is not only not enough – it simply does not exist.

Make it a rule: skin care should be regular! Only in this way can you achieve the desired result.

Error No. 9. Do not check the compatibility of cosmetic components

No matter how expensive and high-quality cosmetics you use, it may simply not give an effect or even worsen the condition of the skin if the active components are not friendly with each other. So you have to become a little chemical technologist or select a complete care with the help of specialists.

The most capricious are the following ingredients:

    • Vitamin C.
    • Peptides.
    • Retinol.
    • Aha and Bha acids.

If you want to try cosmetics with these components, be sure to study their compatibility information.

Mistake No. 10. Being attached to the same means

Stability and monotony in life are boring, and unacceptable in care! Cosmetologists recommend completely changing skin care products every three months so that skin does not become addictive.
