Shoreview KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks-1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1-2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2-3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3-4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4-5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5-12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3-12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2-4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2-4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • There are many good choices in the Twin Cities for childcare, but KinderCare in Shoreview on Hodgson Road continues to exceed our expectations in many areas: There is an amazingly low rate of turnover among the teachers who seem more like members of an extended family then co-workers. We value the center’s attention to parent communication and appreciate things such as the posting of photos and daily summaries of our child’s day. In addition, the center cooks the food it serves on site and we love that our child eats a vast variety of foods at KinderCare.

    David and Jill F. – KinderCare Parent
  • I have seen my child grow from Toddler-hood into a more independent Preschooler. He has developed fine and gross motor skills, better coordination and is more confident then ever! He has developed friendships and what it takes to be a life long learner. The staff at KinderCare is courteous and dedicated!

Distance learning for a preschool teacher.

An early childhood teacher is commonly referred to as a kindergarten teacher. To become one, you need to find out what educators do, how training takes place, and whether distance learning is possible for a preschool teacher.

Before choosing the field of education for a career, and specifically the upbringing of preschoolers, you need to find out all the pros and cons of such work.

Apply for training

I consent to the processing of personal data, I agree to receive newsletters from Synergy University and agree to the privacy policy.

Advantages:

  • Work for those who love children. Caregivers by vocation often love children so much that they are ready to devote their lives to their upbringing.
  • Useful business. Many people like to work in the field of preschool education, because it allows them to feel moral satisfaction and benefit society.
  • Graph. Often employees of preschool institutions work in shifts. If the teacher worked in the morning and afternoon, then tomorrow at this time a colleague will replace him, and he himself will come in the evening. Such a schedule opens up opportunities for additional income, for example, you can conduct additional classes in another institution or give private lessons for preschoolers.
  • Vacation. It is not as long as that of school teachers, but more than 30 calendar days and also in summer.
  • Opportunity to develop. For the first and highest category, additional payments are made to the salary. Educators are constantly engaged in self-education: they watch webinars, read literature and articles, prepare and conduct additional classes. This is what will help you get a category (you need to collect your achievements and provide the commission and pass the exam). To get the next category, you also need published articles on specialized sites and prizes in children’s art competitions (crafts and drawings). You may receive incentive payments.

Drawbacks:

  • Graph. The schedule is not always comfortable. For example, sometimes you have to go on a full shift or work all week from morning to evening.
  • Responsibility. The teacher is responsible for the life and health of children while they are in an educational institution. Therefore, it is important to be careful and clearly know the safety rules and laws.
  • Salary. Often the salary is not enough to live on, so you have to look for ways to earn extra money or combine your main job with an additional one.

The necessary qualities for this profession include fairness, moderate severity and demandingness, as well as patience and attentiveness. The teacher must have excellent communication skills. They will be useful when working with children to maintain discipline and resolve conflicts between them, as well as to find contact with parents and establish good relations with colleagues. Also, the organization of leisure and education of pupils is impossible without high skills of self-organization.

Professional requirements and responsibilities

The teacher performs the following duties:

  • creates favorable conditions for the development of pupils and maintains a friendly atmosphere;
  • encourages the inclinations and interests of students, motivates them to pursue them and helps them become more independent;
  • promotes communication between pupils and helps them to solve communication problems with other children;
  • respects the rights and freedoms of pupils, is responsible for their safety, life and health, monitors their development;
  • works together with other caregivers, communicates with children’s parents;
  • gives instructions to the junior teacher and assistant teacher, if necessary, performs the duties of the senior teacher;
  • is engaged in methodological work, organizes events.

He is also required to master a number of knowledge, namely:

  • fundamentals of legislation on the rights of the child, educational standards and laws on education, their rights and obligations;
  • basics of psychodidactics, child psychology;
  • stages of age development and their characteristics, physiology and hygiene;
  • methods of educational work, types and methods of pedagogical approaches, methods of monitoring the progress of pupils;
  • legal, moral and ethical standards, professional ethics.

This knowledge and skills allow the educator to do their job: prepare matinees, organize excursions and trips to theaters and museums, accompany pupils on walks and organize games for them. Also, the teacher teaches children to serve themselves, finds activities for them (drawing, group games, modeling, appliqué, mosaic), helps children resolve conflicts with each other.

How and where to enter

There are several ways to become an educator.

  • Get higher or secondary vocational education in the specialty “Education and Pedagogy.
  • Get a higher education or secondary vocational education, and after that – additional education in the profile “Education and Pedagogy”.

Secondary vocational education can be obtained at the college. On the basis of 9 grades, training lasts 3 years 10 months, and on the basis of 11 grades – 2 years 10 months.

Admission to colleges is based on GPA. The results of the OGE directly affect the grades in it, so the successful passing of the exams will help with admission.

The Bachelor of Education course lasts 4 years. To enter the university for this specialty, they pass the Unified State Examination in mathematics, Russian language and social science.

Training involves a lot of practice, so the best option is full-time study.

Features of the educational process

During their studies, students get acquainted with psychology and pedagogy, the theoretical foundations of preschool education, as well as age-related anatomy, physiology and hygiene. They also study the main areas of aesthetic education and the psychological and pedagogical foundations of the organization of communication.

There are a number of disciplines that are dedicated to health: medical, biological and social foundations of health, as well as the foundations of physical education and development of preschool children.

Compulsory courses in general subjects: foreign language, philosophy, jurisprudence and history.

A large number of disciplines have a practical orientation. These include:

  • culture of speech, where you have to work on speech skills, rhetoric and public speaking;
  • children’s literature and its expressive reading;
  • workshop on improving motor skills and abilities;
  • artistic processing of materials and fine arts;
  • method of musical education with practical work;
  • teamwork trainings, project activities in pedagogy;
  • theatrical action.

Key disciplines are related to the organization of development and education of children. These include the theoretical and methodological foundations of the organization of gaming, labor and productive activities, the organization of training in different age groups, the methodology for the development of speech, the environmental education of preschoolers and the methodology of mathematical development. The curriculum also includes methods for adapting the child to the conditions of kindergarten and solving pedagogical problems.

Another important aspect of learning is the ability to interact with preschoolers’ parents and colleagues.

Students also regularly practice in kindergartens and homes, guardianship authorities, medical organizations and other institutions, both public and private.

They master the methods of research work in order to prepare scientific publications, write a final qualifying work and develop further in this direction.

Jobs

The main places of work are state institutions: kindergartens and homes for orphans, medical centers for children, institutions of additional education. In addition, you can also get a job in a private kindergarten. It is possible to work for yourself, for example, to conduct additional classes or teach children in private.

It is also possible to develop your own educational methods, receive titles and develop in other ways in the field of education.

The profession of a preschool educator involves teaching children basic skills (reading, writing, counting), self-organization and self-service skills and organizing their leisure time. To work in this area, you need a secondary vocational or higher pedagogical education. For admission to college, the average score of the certificate is important, and to the university – the results of the Unified State Examination.

During training, work with children is studied from the point of view of pedagogy, psychology and physiology. Future pedagogies first master the theory, but gradually they are more and more engaged in practice. They also master the intricacies of methodological work: how to develop educational methods, track the progress of pupils and prepare publications on pedagogy.

Some schools offer distance learning, but full-time is the best option. It is impossible to become a good teacher if you do not engage in organizational activities and work on speech skills. It is also necessary to regularly undergo practice during study in order to apply the acquired knowledge and consolidate new skills.

Kindergarten during quarantine: welcome to online

Kindergarten online: interactive learning in a playful way for the little ones

In quarantine, when the whole family is at home, children literally turn the house upside down. For schoolchildren, this problem has been solved – the Zelensky online program has been launched, there are classes from a public school, as well as many paid applications for distance learning (from online lessons to online tutoring services). But the smallest, preschoolers, there are very few offers, moreover, many kindergartens were left without funding due to the introduced quarantine. But preschoolers can also develop and learn online – in this article we will tell you how.

Online Kindergarten: General Trends

Online Kindergarten in Western countries has been around for a long time and is developing along with the online school. And quarantine has become the impetus for the development of this trend in other countries of the world. For online learning of preschoolers, special LMS (Learning Management System) have been created – large platforms for conducting lessons. These are interactive platforms because the child can answer questions right inside the platform. Notebooks, textbooks, pens are no longer needed. All data, grades and results, homework and the rest are also stored inside the platform.

Particular attention, of course, is paid to the fact that classes are held with the youngest children, who are less diligent and focused than schoolchildren. Therefore, the program develops in a special way, maximum games and interactivity are added to the lessons.

Case Study #1: NovaKid – An Educational Platform for Preschoolers

Novakidschool – A platform for children aged 4 to 12 that operates worldwide. The service offers a learning format that encourages the child to communicate in English. And so that the information is well absorbed, the lesson takes place in an interactive virtual classroom.

Features of online classes for children in Novakid

  1. Novakid works in a browser. Users do not need to install any additional applications such as Skype.
  2. Novakid teachers sing along with students to cheer up. And if the students don’t like to sing, there are many other ways to greet the teacher.
  3. Teachers explain grammar using engaging materials. No boring textbooks. And students who successfully complete all tasks receive stars.
  4. Teachers encourage students to apply grammar using the Novakid digital pen to give immediate feedback and reinforce positive motivation.
  5. Reading skills are developed in students and they are also involved in the process of discussing the material read in order to train and hone their speaking skills.
  6. Online school teachers develop writing skills using the Novakid digital pen and provide immediate feedback to positively motivate the student.

Example #2. Miss Humblebee’s Academy – online learning and development program for preschoolers

Another Western example is Miss Humblebee’s Academy, based on an innovative curriculum for children ages 3 to 6. The main principle of the academy, which, according to its creators, will make the child successful in the future, is a combination of online and offline learning.

The site offers hundreds of fully interactive lessons and over 2500 activities in language and literacy, math, science and social development, art and music.

In addition to educational activities, the program includes creative activities, which are presented in the DIY section (“Do it yourself”): drawings and crafts dedicated to holidays and seasons, cooking and even scientific experiments. The task of the section is to help the child, while learning online, to consolidate knowledge and develop fine motor skills and thinking in real life. This is very important for preschool children.

The platform practices weekly reports reflecting the child’s progress and performance. Notifications about the availability of the report are sent to parents by e-mail. Reports help to identify the strengths of the child and problem areas that still need to be worked on.

Online kindergarten in Ukraine: how it works now

In Ukraine, there are no examples of developed separate online platforms for kindergartens yet. Since this is a difficult technical solution, the implementation of which takes a lot of time and money. However, alternative ways of conducting online classes for preschoolers have appeared and are developing in the country.

Format of lessons and learning

Today there are 3 ways to conduct classes with children in quarantine:

  • 1st option – send certain songs, rhymes, other video materials.
  • 2nd option – to conduct classes online, the duration of the lesson is 40 minutes, sometimes up to 60 minutes.
  • The 3rd option, which is used by the majority, is to conduct both online lessons and send assignments. It takes 1.5-2 hours of pure time (a 45-60 minute lesson and the same amount of time is spent on the video, the videos themselves last 20-30 minutes).

Price

For existing Clients for the quarantine period, it was reduced by approximately 50%, there are examples of price reductions up to 70%, but there are only a few of them. For online lessons, the price varies from 3,000 to 4,000 UAH/month.

How lessons are implemented

Lessons are most often held in the Zoom program. The presence of an adult is a prerequisite for a successful lesson.

Regular Attendance Discount

Individual players apply a 20% discount for up to a year after quarantine if you pay the tuition in advance (for 1, 3 or 12 months, but not more than a year).

Group size

Varies from 2-3 to 6-8 people.

Case study: Sprout – an English-language kindergarten in Kyiv

The Ukrainian example is Sprout’s online kindergarten for children aged 3-6. Previously, the kindergarten, as usual, existed only offline. But along with the advent of quarantine, the format had to be revised and try to go online. A one-page site was developed to present a new service for the Ukrainian market.

The peculiarity of this kindergarten is a 100% English-speaking environment. The experience and knowledge of kindergarten teachers were transferred online. Classes for children are held twice a day for 30 minutes in a motor-game form. With music and interesting activities, children get interesting tasks to consolidate knowledge.

How this idea will survive after quarantine

This solution has every right to life after quarantine, as it will be a way out in situations where:

  • the child is sick and cannot go to kindergarten;
  • needs additional tutoring to improve knowledge.
