AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Paradise Hills KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
Spanish
Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.
STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)
You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.
Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!
A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH
An Artist’s Heart
“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.
We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.
Family Stories

-
I have my two sons enrolled into KinderCare and have received the best care for them. They are two and three and all of their teachers have treated them like they were their own. They never fail to inform me on anything that I need to know or answer any questions I have. I have taken my oldest to another daycare and I can honestly say that KinderCare is by far the safest for my boys. Thank you to Ms. Nise the Center Director and all of her staff (too many wonderful teachers).
Mandi S. – KinderCare Parent
-
Kindercare is an amazing school! I’ve been taking my two-and-a-half-year-old twins to the center for about seven months now. They had never been in daycare before and had a little separation anxiety. The management and staff have been so helpful with their transition. They are very loving and patient with them and have handled all my questions and concerns in a professional and caring manner. My kids love to come to school now and are so excited to see their teachers and friends every morning!

Paradise Hills KinderCare has been a great experience for me for 15 years now. From my oldest who started in 1999 to my middle son who is 10, to my youngest one who is three. KinderCare has served my family with loving teachers and learning that has changed my children’s’ lives! My oldest, starting at just two years old, is now a senior in high school, and will be valedictorian this year! They all have been in the Learning Adventures programs, which have taught them to read before they went to kindergarten, the older Reading program served as a confidence builder and brought my middle child to the next reading level! My youngest, who is just three years old, is learning letters and sounds and loving his preschool class every day! I am so very grateful to KinderCare’s educational programs as well as their loving teachers and managers who have given my children lifelong gifts forever.
Reveille H. – KinderCare Parent

My first child started at KinderCare when he was two and he is nine now. We have had an amazing experience with every class he has been in as well as Learning Adventures. He started the Phonics program when he was four and by the time he started kindergarten he was ahead of his class due to the strong teachers and lessons. My younger son started at KinderCare when he was three months old. I was nervous for him to start so young, but the Infant Teachers quickly eased my fears. Now he is two and the teacher is very good at communicating and working alongside me with his learning and potty training. I am very pleased with the teachers my boys have had over the years. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The management team is always very knowledgeable and ready to help with any concerns.
DeAndra M. – KinderCare Parent

My child loves KinderCare! The staff are so sweet and caring! I trust the whole staff with my child and know they will take great care of my baby! I have never felt so at home with a school before and appreciate everything they do every day!

Cast Marlene Dietrich (Oltar Keen), Arthur Kennedy (Vern Haskell), Mel Ferrer (French Fermont), Gloria Henry (Beth Forbes), William Fraley (Bald Gander), Lisa Ferraday (Maxine) , John Raven (dealer at Catch Your Luck Ranch), Lloyd Gough (Kinch), Jack Elam (Giri), Dan Seymour (Comanche Paul), George Reeves (Wilson), Rodrik Redwing (Rio), Frank Ferguson (Preacher), John Doucette (Whitney), Fuzzy Knight (barber), Francis Macdonald (Harbin).
1870 Wyoming town. Vern Haskell gives the brooch to his fiancée, and immediately afterwards, during a raid, she is raped and killed by bandits. Vern’s whole world and happiness crumble overnight. Firmly determined to take revenge, he goes in search of the killer, not knowing anything about him. Vern soon finds his mortally wounded accomplice. Before he dies, he whispers: “Catch your luck” – this is the trail along which Vern heads in further searches. He learns that the dead bandit did not mean the roulette set in every gambling house in the Wild West, but the name of a certain ranch. Vern is trying to get a meeting with the owner of this ranch, the legendary Oltar Keen. Once she was a singer in a saloon, until the owner put her out on the street. So she met French Fermont, a famous shooter in the West, and he helped her make a fortune by cheating at the game of roulette in the same saloon.
Upon learning that Frenchy is in prison, Vern deliberately gets arrested in order to get into the same cell with a bandit and make friends with him. The two of them escape from prison and end up at the mysterious “Catch Your Luck” ranch, where Oltar Keen gives shelter to bandits in need of shelter and shelter, taking 10% of their profit. There is one, but strict law: no questions asked. Oltar introduces Vern to the other lodgers. Particular attention is drawn to a certain womanizer with a disfigured face. One evening, Oltar sings to the guests in a black dress adorned with a brooch that Vern gave to his fiancée. The young man immediately notices this decoration, but the appearance of the sheriff does not allow him to advance in the investigation. Vern helps Oltar get rid of the sheriff, and then begins courting the mistress, causing Frenchie to be jealous.
During a robbery organized by the Frenchman, Kinch, the real killer of Vern’s fiancee, tries to kill an overly curious young man. Vern does not even pay attention to this and takes his share of the booty to Oltar. He carefully asks where she got the brooch. Oltar calls the name of Kinch. Having finally obtained the information he has been hunting for for so long, Vern arrives at a bar and tries to provoke Kinch into a duel. Kinch cowardly refuses, and the sheriff takes him into custody. But very soon his accomplices free him. They all think that Oltar has betrayed them or is about to betray them. They return to the ranch, where a gunfight ensues. Kinch is dead. Oltar covers Frenchy with his body and receives a bullet intended for him. Her wound is fatal. After her death, Verne and Frenchy leave the deserted ranch together.
? This wonderful film was almost never noticed when it was released. Even Cahiers du cinéma, which has always closely followed Lang’s American career, did not devote a single line to him. This is the last of Lang’s 3 westerns and the only one where the director completely adjusts the laws of the genre to his inner world. The age-old Langian motifs of revenge, violence, loneliness and secret societies find here a renewed and almost exotic expression, while the film fits perfectly into the traditional framework of the western. At the level of form, it is worth noting the extremely diverse handling of time. There are 3 types of time in the film: the time of direct narration; compressed time in a scene that briefly sums up Vern’s long search to the accompaniment of a ballad that serves as the leitmotif of the film; and the time of 3 flashbacks, where the legendary figure of the adventurer Oltar Keen gradually appears before us? a woman who is entirely dependent on her past (which can be said about the actress herself). At the level of meaning, this time, however, is absolutely immutable, immobile, devoid of plans for the future and freedom: it is a time of revenge in which the world shrinks to the size of one mania, one obsession. The space of the film reflects the same dual nature. At the level of form, it is varied and rich, solemn, ponderous, luxurious, almost pretentious – but on the other hand, closed, dead, not occupied with anything other than the constant, fatal, bloody repetition of the facts that launched the narrative. The final death of Oltar Keen, among other things, is an echo of the death of the girl in the 2nd episode of the film.
The deliberately artificial pavilion decoration, symbolizing the border between the outside world and the ranch, has been the subject of discussion and controversy among moviegoers. Undoubtedly, if Lang were not so constrained by means, he would shoot in the natural environment. But even in this form, the setting only reinforces (perhaps too defiantly) the closed, suffocating structure of the story “about hatred, murder and revenge”, the absolute tightness of this pessimistic and, to some extent, expressionist Western. Indeed, the curse hanging over Lang’s characters is much more severe than that associated with original sin in the films of Hitchcock. All these characters, whether they are driven by good or bad intentions, are on the same side of the barrier – on the side of evil. In his wanderings, Vern Haskell brings only destruction to himself and everyone around him; but he cannot help but retaliate. He belongs to a fallen breed of people for whom the concept of forgiveness has no meaning and does not even exist. He belongs, like all people, to a cursed race.

Do not forget that fear is the main brake on life, so study the reports of the criminal chronicle of travelers to Brazil less. Although we will still give a few tips.
-
In Rio, theft and robbery are present in all areas without exception. But most often this happens in places of tourist and mass congestion of people.
-
Try to avoid crowds of scantily clad children and teenagers. We used to sympathize with children, but here they skillfully use it. As a rule, they attack the whole group of five to ten people.
-
Do not take the original documents with you unless necessary, make copies.
Do not leave personal belongings on the city beach unattended – even slates will be carried away. -
There is a distraction scheme – be vigilant if you are asked to keep an eye on things. Such thieves can act in pairs.
-
City beaches are deserted at night. A classic place and time for a heist.
-
Don’t be naive, you came to a country with a huge social stratification.
-
Metropolitan area (City of Rio de Janeiro).
-
Costa de Sol is the north coast, where Arraial do Cabo, Buzios and Cabo Frio are located.
-
Costa Verde – the south coast, where Angra dos Reis, Ilha Grande (translated as the Big Island) and Paraty (Parachi) are located.

Rio de Janeiro is a city that you fall in love with consciously: you accept both positive and frankly negative sides. The city is generally inclined to respond in the same way – both to those in love with it, and to ill-wishers. So it’s better to fall in love.
Natalya Vdovichenko/ Nataly Vdovichenko
text
Moreover, there is something: nowhere in the world is there such a symbiosis of urbanism and nature as in this Brazilian city
Money
The monetary unit of Brazil is the real (R$). As of mid-2016, 1 real ≈ 20.5 rubles.
At the airport and in banks, the most unfavorable exchange rates. Change there only a small amount for the first time (or a taxi ride). Having reached the city, money can be safely changed at exchange offices. They are marked with the “Câmbio” sign.
Advice: Take small amounts with you, change will not be easy in all places. Be careful: the staff of hotels and cafes may incorrectly give you change or a bill, simply because some people really do not calculate well or do not know how. Don’t expect good service in Rio: it’s a former colonial country, Brazilians love it when they work for them.

Communications and Internet in Rio de Janeiro
For orientation in the area, of course, you need the Internet. You will find free Wi-Fi only in the Starbucks network (you will even have to forget about McDonald’s). Internet and cell phones are expensive, so don’t trust signboards that promise free Wi-Fi. Even if there is a network in such places, then the Internet will most likely work poorly. And in Rio, due to the natural landscape and the surrounding mountains, the data transfer speed is very slow.
You can buy a local SIM card (Chip) from the TIM operator, the coverage is not the best, but it has special rates for foreign tourists (about 30 reais). Other telecom operators will require a Brazilian registration number, which, of course, the traveler does not have.

Transport in Rio de Janeiro
Buses
Google Maps does a good job of building bus routes, and they have a really huge network. The peculiarity of Rio is that drivers here do not drive, but pilot. Get ready for the roller coaster. For security reasons, do not sit in an empty seat by the window: these seats are convenient for robbers (they can snatch the phone out of the window, or they can sit down with threats).
Taxi
Always pay attention to the included counter. On weekends and holidays, as well as after 20:00, taxi drivers work at a different rate, increasing the fare by 30%.
With the advent of Uber, trips have become half the price, and drivers come even to hard-to-reach areas, unlike taxi drivers.
Metro
As of mid-2016, many stations are still under construction, but those that are already open will be enough for you to move around the South Zone (Zona Sul). The metro is comfortable, bright and safe. The only thing is that it is very cold in the cars because of the air conditioning. Look for information on the Rio Metro website. A one-time trip will cost 4.1 real, there is an analogue of the Moscow Troika card. Bicycle parking inside the stations is free, and if you want to take a bike or surf with you, then you should take the last subway car.
Bicycle
We recommend renting a bike (and a lock) right away. It’s safe, economical, and generally the absolute lifestyle of the Carioca (indigenous people of the state of Rio de Janeiro) – on a bike you immediately become one of the locals. Rio is completely covered with bike paths, and on Sundays the municipality blocks the city’s embankment, as well as the road along Flamengo Park, where you can meet masses of citizens riding on all types of wheeled vehicles.
You can rent a bike at Copacabana here.
If you are here for a long time, it is more profitable to buy a bicycle and sell it when you leave. A group for posting ads about buying and selling on Facebook.
The main districts of Rio de Janeiro
The city itself is divided into zones that are strikingly different from each other.
Zona Sul (South zone)
Refers to a very comfortable zone. This includes areas such as Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema, Botafogo, Flamengo, Katete. Lagoa, Leblon and Urca are considered luxury.
Of course, this zone does not cover the whole of Rio, but it is here that the catalyst for real carioca culture is located. Here the rich intersect with the poor like nowhere else, the largest and most beloved football clubs are concentrated here and the famous city beaches are located, the main Christmas tree (Lagoa) is set here annually. The most fashionable favela, Vidigal, is also located in the South Zone. If you have not settled in the area of the beach line, there is always the opportunity to get to the ocean not by public transport, but by bicycle, roller skate or skateboard.
Against the background of other zones, the South reads safe. The Urca area, for example, having the shape of a peninsula, has only one entrance / exit, and the houses here were allocated to the families of the military and the police – this is one of the safest corners of the city.

Copacabana
Zona Central
This geographical area of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro is the historical, commercial and financial center of the city. During the day, the area looks businesslike, but when everyone finishes working, after seven or eight in the evening, it becomes deserted (we do not recommend moving alone).
If you are interested not only in the beaches, but also in the history and culture of the visited country, be sure to take a walk in the center. The center also includes the swanky Lapa area, with its famous Carioca aqueduct (Arcos Da Lapa) and the Selaron stairs (Escadaria Selarón), as well as the Santa Teresa area (it is also called the Brazilian Montmartre), which offers stunning panoramic views of Rio. There are also shops with handicraft products, as well as expensive and not very restaurants.
The abundance of architectural variations is striking: you can find not only colonial buildings, but also traces of European architecture and even Russian post-constructivism.

Santa Teresa District
Zona Norte (Northern Zone)
Areas of poor communities (favelas) are concentrated in this zone. You should not shout the word “favela” in public, the locals call the slums comunidade (comunidadzhi). In some areas of the north, such as Jardin Guanabara, Maracana, Grajau, Tijuca, Meyer and Alto da Boa Vista, residences of the middle and upper classes also hid.
An important feature of the north is the presence of huge shopping centers. The largest mall in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Norte Shopping, is located in the Kasambi district.
Favelas. Photo: Steve Sheehy
In terms of tourism and entertainment, besides the two main stadiums in Rio de Janeiro, the Olympic Stadium (Estádio Olímpico João Havelange) and the famous Maracana Stadium (Maracanã), another important place is Quinta da Boa Vista (Quinta da Boa Vista) in San Cristovan, home to the Rio de Janeiro Zoo and the Imperial Museum. Do not waste time at the zoo, it is very sad there, but we advise you to take a walk in the park. Here you will find large outdoor recreation areas and stunning scenery.
In addition, San Cristovan is the center of the traditions of the northeast of Brazil and bears the name of the greatest figure of Brazilian folk music of the 20th century, Luis Gonzaga. Everything is folk there – music and dancing, food and tapioca by weight, hammocks and straw hats of the widest “fishing” fields. It is here that you should pick up souvenirs for friends and relatives. In addition, on weekends they work around the clock for a nominal fee of 7 reais at the entrance.
Maracana Stadium
Quinta da Boa Vista
There is a chance to visit the real jungle: Tijuca National Park is the ideal place for hiking or cycling. You will find yourself in the heart of the wild nature, you will see waterfalls and a real tropical forest.
Galeão International Airport (Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport) is also located to the north.
Tijuca National Park
Tijuca National Park
Barra da Tijuca (Barra da Tijuca)
Separately, I will single out the Barra da Tijuca area. Not all tourists know about its existence (or simply do not reach it). The area began to be actively settled in 1969, and the development plan was prepared by the architect Lucio Costa, who wanted to urbanize Barra da Tijuca and Jacarepagua, but at the same time preserve the wild nature of the place.
Today the area looks strongly Americanized. Here are large shopping centers, high-rise residential complexes, as well as the main studio for the production of the world-famous Globo series. The area is remote from the South zone, and its infrastructure implies car ownership. The beach line is endless and resembles the beaches of Miami. So, if you miss the glamorous audience, you will find it in the nightlife of Barra.
I wouldn’t advise you to visit the rest of the districts if you don’t have a good knowledge of the peculiarities of culture and local customs.

Where to go in Rio?
Rio’s samba and bossa nova are like water in the ocean, but that’s probably not what you came for. Therefore, we are talking about where a lover of underground places and good music should go.
Rock
Rio is an absolute rock city. The Rock in Rio festival takes place every two years. The British rock band Queen released a live video “Live in Rio” with a performance at the first festival in 1985, and metal band Iron Maiden released a live album “Rock in Rio” with a live performance at the festival in 2001.
Saloon 79
A real rocker bar with a show floor. They play live both national rock and classic world hits. The prices are democratic, the entrance is paid and strictly in the presence of an identity document, schoolchildren are not allowed to enter.
Address: Rua Pinheiro Guimarães 79 – Botafogo
Kult Kolector
Art & Rock Gallery in Barra da Tijuca with live performances by Brazilian bands performing both their own repertoire and cover sets.

Electronic music
V de Viadão parties
A well organized series of underground parties migrating to venues. They promise great music, an outrageous audience, love, dancing and a bit of cultural shock. The most beautiful drag queen cities.
Entrance fee, it is better to buy tickets in advance.
Parties MOO
The best parties. Residents – Diogo Reis, Badenov and other invited DJs, literally play until you drop. MOOs are held both indoors and outdoors in the city.
Party Noon
A distinctive feature – they start at 16:00. Spend the sunset listening to music sets from Brazil’s top DJs.
As a rule, they take place in the club “00” or in the open air in the Lage park.
Party Noon
Brazilian Music
The Bar
Located at the Wolf Maya School of Actors in the Barra da Tijuca area.
Starting at 22:00, bands performing works by cult Brazilian artists perform on stage (Tim Maya is the best performance of the repertoire). Despite the fact that this wonderful corner is located in the open air, you are guaranteed a relaxed, cozy atmosphere among an artistically dressed audience. You can easily zakurolesit until three o’clock in the morning.
Address: Avenida das Americas, 2000 – Barra da Tijuca
Comuna
Trendy bar with crowds of young people who hang out both inside and all over the street. In general, hanging out on the street without music in crowds and drinking is some kind of cultural feature of the Brazilians. It turns out not even a bar, but a social club.
An excellent bar list and an interesting audience, as well as the most delicious caipirinhas and burgers in town.
Address: Rua Sorocaba, 585 – Botafogo
Comuna
Bar da Cachaça
Another very popular and at the same time historical place of the bohemian Lapa district, which gathers crowds of people. The house is a cultural heritage site of Rio.
The bar sells an incredible amount of different brands of rum, cachaça and tinctures. The last – about 2000 labels. Best sellers: tincture of cachaça with ginger – batido de jengibre, as well as gabriela (cloves, cinnamon, cane syrup, cooked on juruping with grapes and peanuts), 5 reais per serving.
Address: Avenida Mem de Sá, 110 – Centro
Hotel Pestana
For those who like the view from above more than others.
Not everyone knows that on Fridays and Saturdays the hotel invites DJs and the entrance to the terrace with a bar and a swimming pool is available not only to guests, but also to those who want to have a good time with a stunning view of Copacabana.
Address: Av. Atlantica, 2964 – Copacabana
Hotel Pestana
Teatro Rival
Cariocas, apparently, hide such establishments from the eyes of tourists, and it is located behind Cinelandia Square, on the same street as a porn movie theater. The area, by the way, is called so, because at 19In the 40s, about 100 cinemas worked on it! The theater itself was founded in 1932, is located in the basement, and has been sponsored by Petrobras since 2001. Tarantino atmosphere, transporting you to the bohemian, velvet period of the capital Rio de Janeiro.
Musical repertoire? Come and see for yourself. Live sound, mostly free admission (in extreme cases – up to 50 reais). Programs daily. Pleasant employees, among whom there are transvestites.
Address: Subsolo – Rua Álvaro Alvim, 33/37 – Cinelândia
Canastra Bar
On Ipanema, you can eat excellent oysters inexpensively. The bar was opened by the French, and it is very popular. Happy Hour on Tuesdays from 17:00.
Address: Rua Jangadeiros, 42, Loja B – Ipanema
Jojô
Also a good place with oysters. Hidden from tourist raids in one of the coziest districts of the city – Jardin Botanico (by the way, there is a beautiful botanical garden in Rio, be sure to check it out). Previously, a textile factory operated there and houses were built for workers to live. Today it all looks very colorful.
Address: Rua Pacheco Leão, 812 – Jardim Botânico
Jojô
Acai
Acai is a must try in Rio.
The real acai berry grows on the Brazilian açaiseiro palm tree. Various sources mention that acai is most beneficial within two hours of being picked. If during this period the berries have not been processed into dietary supplements or pulp, the benefits gradually decrease. In Rio, you can find açai of different quality, but we will reveal a secret: the best place with açai in the city is Casa do Açai.
Day off is Sunday.
Be sure to order Açai Premium.
Concise Dictionary:
acai premium com mel – acai with honey;
acai premium canopy shiropi guarana – acai without guarana syrup;
acai premium is a classic option.
Address: Rua Siqueira Campos 143 – Loja 11 – Copacabana

Beaches of Rio de Janeiro
Advice: Regardless of the season in Rio, take panthenol. The sun here is merciless and tricky, even if you remember to reapply sunscreen every two hours. There is a chance of getting severe burns even in cloudy weather.
The main coast of Rio de Janeiro is divided into three main areas:
We decided to take a walk around the metropolitan area – the most popular among travelers.
Tip: If you’re here to surf, be sure to check out Surf Connect. On it you can find up-to-date information about spots and even broadcast from webcams. True, you will have to pay for the latter.
Leme
This beach is the very beginning of Copacabana. A cozy neighborhood with reasonable prices, a favorite place for video makers: clips were filmed here, for example, by Snoop Dogg and Ricky Martin).
An excellent beach, it is always calm here and there are much fewer traders and tourists. In the evening, you can walk to the Pedra do Leme hill, from which the city’s coastline originates. With friends, we sometimes drop into a local bar right at the foot of this hill to enjoy a passion fruit caipirinha (18 reais) and a stunning night view of the entire arc of Copacabana.
Leme Beach
Copacabana
Of course, upon arrival, all tourists and travelers run to Copacabana. We encourage you to take a look and move on. Copacabana is one of the oldest districts of the city, a kind of strange cocktail of everything that is available: old people (many old people), outrageous ladies with dogs, underage street children (remember that special attention is paid to them), drug dealers, police patrols, “buy gold” , beggars, tourists, cripples, promoters, souvenir shops, etc. Dirty, bustle and noise. The area has its own history and culture, which is difficult to immediately feel.
We recommend that you look at Copacabana from above: for example, from the terrace of the Pestana Hotel. It is from above that one can appreciate the idea of the project of the great Brazilian architect Roberto Burle Marx.
The waters of Copa Beach tend to be calmer, with no high-rise waves. An ideal place for stand-up surfing and buying souvenirs at the evening bazaar near post number 5. Feel free to bargain in the markets: if you are told the price of a hammock is 120 reais, say that you only have 80, for example.
Copacabana
Copacabana
Aproador, Ipanema and Leblon
We combined these beaches, because they still follow each other and are separated only by rescue posts. It all depends on which post you go to. The coastline of the city beach of the Southern zone is divided into 12 posts. In Portuguese, the word for beach (praia) is feminine.
Ipanema is undoubtedly the “beauty queen” among all city beaches and starts from post number 8. An interesting feature: here each post has its own specific audience and even subculture. Post surfers, dog breeders, hippies, marijuana addicts, gay couples, hipsters, ravers, locals, gringos, slum dwellers, elites – everyone goes to their own beach according to their interests. But everyone is united by everyone’s favorite landscape – the horizon of the Atlantic Ocean and Mount Two Brothers (Dois Irmãos) with the Vidigal favela growing along it, without which it seems impossible to imagine Rio.
Ipanema
Ipanema
Focusing on post #7 (Aproador): if you arrive early in the morning, you can find stunningly clear water, as well as surf instructors and body surfers. In the evening, be sure to come here to watch the sunset. This is the best point during the summer months.
The water of these beaches is difficult to describe – you can get on the warm milky-frothy water or on the raging icy huge waves. The beaches are beautiful at any time of the year.
Aproador
Praia Vermelha
Be sure to add this beauty to the list. It is called Red, as at sunset the sand acquires a reddish tint. Located in the safest area of the city of Urca. With its calm waters and moored boats, it resembles a sea bay – ideal for swimming and SUP. But it is worth warning that, with an outwardly calm appearance, it is very deep there: there was even a case when the rescuer could not pull out a drowning person.
Praia Vermelha. Photo: Vitor Sans
Urca
It always seemed to me that this beach is for children. Filled with families with children, the sand is white, the water is calm. But the landscape from this side of the city is special, and standing at the Urca bar on the waterfront, you can spend the sunset and watch the sun go down behind Corcovada.
Urca
San Conrado
The beach, although it has elite buildings and a beautiful promenade, is not worth swimming here. Because there is a dumping of waste from the largest slum in South America – Rocinha. The water is often cold and the waves are gigantic. But if you just want to sunbathe, then this is a good option if you are tired of cramped Ipanema. Acai is cooked well here and you can watch how paragliders and hang gliders land.
São Conrado
Barra da Tijuco
The beach is very far from the center. The coastline seems endless, the perfect escape from the seasonally crowded beaches of the South Zone. Many kite and surf schools are based here and tiki-style kiosks are found.
On Pipa, at the very beginning of the beach, you can meet Brazilian movie stars and various local celebrities. Prices are high here, but the sunsets are amazing.
Barra da Tijuco
Joachinga (Joa)
Joachinga is like a pearl, hidden from the bustle of the city thanks to the mountains surrounding the beach. Despite the proximity to the entire urban infrastructure, a feeling of solitude is created. The beach is popular – you will meet fashionable youth, surfers, and hipsters with dogs.
If you come out of season, it is worth remembering that the sun sets from the other side during such months and leaves this beach in the shade from 15:00. The beach is considered wild, you can get to it by taxi, but it’s very difficult to leave: there are only private residences around. The easiest way to get back is by walking down Estrada do Joá and exiting at Estrada da Barra da Tijuca, the descent will take about 25 minutes.
Joachinga (Joa)
Recreio and Reserve
The beaches are huge and seem endless. By the way, it is. Since they are remote from the city, few people get to them, but at the same time it is very good here. The coast is not yet built up with sports schools, and the kiosks are of a simple coastal design, without any fashionable bells and whistles
Suitable for surfing and kitesurfing depending on the wave and wind forecast.
Reserve
Macumba
The beach is separated from Recreio by the Tim Maia headland. At low tide, a path along the sand forms to the cape, although the ascent takes about an hour, but the view from above is worth the effort. Kiosks are found along the entire coastline and bike path. The beach is an absolute favorite among surfers, as it forms constant waves all year round. Nearby you can find small shops for renting, selling and repairing boards with a huge price difference compared to the prices of the South zone.
Macumba
Prainha
The name of the beach speaks for itself (“beach” in Portuguese), its length is only about 150 meters. Surrounded by mountains and cliffs, which are covered with rich vegetation of the Atlantic forest. The beach, in addition to magnificent waves, hides a unique beauty, with white sand, clear water and even fresh water in spring. Prainha is considered the best place for surfing in Rio de Janeiro, a real paradise where many tournaments, stages of national and international championships are held.
It is better to come here on weekdays, as it is always crowded on weekends. Do not forget that there may be problems with parking: if you have already gathered on the weekend, then do not be lazy – come before the songs of the roosters.
Prainha
What to see outside the city?
Serra dos Órgãos National Park
The Serra do Mar mountain complex crosses almost the entire state (its altitude is up to 2000 meters), and the Serra dos Organs is part of it. Located 68 kilometers from Rio, the city of Petropolis served as the summer residence of the imperial family, who hid here from the summer heat. In addition, Teresopolis is worth a visit: it is surrounded by forest and well-known peaks suitable for mountain tourism.
The highest peak to climb is Pedra do Sino (2275 meters), and the most famous is the Finger of God (Dedo de Deus) – 1651 meters.
It is very easy to get here with frequent buses from the central bus station, but if you can take a car or motorcycle, then it’s worth a ride and see how real Brazilian villages live. The roads are good and the traffic is light.
Serra dos Organs National Park
Serra dos Organs National Park
Just two hours from the sea you will discover many Brazilian mountain treasures. These are spa hotels, ecotourism, haciendas, ranches, bars with local Gaucho and Shurasco cowboys, organic plantations, gourmet restaurants and what only you can find. It also seems to me that all the old Volkswagen Beetles (Fusca) after their “death” end up here: here they are found at every step and in all colors of the rainbow.
Rio dos Frades waterfall
Located a few kilometers from Teresopolis.
