Meet MILO, a powerful machine learning AI tool from UC Davis Health

LaboratoryJuly 29, 2020

(SACRAMENTO)

In 2014, Nam Tran, professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, lost his mother-in-law due to complications from a hospital-acquired infection. He wished there was a better way for physicians to predict and diagnose infections faster, leading to timely intervention.
Machine Intelligence Learning Optimizer (MILO)

Tran, senior director of clinical pathology laboratory at UC Davis Health, came to Hooman Rashidi*, vice chair of informatics and computational pathology and an expert in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), with a small data set of burn patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). Initially skeptical of AI/ML, he challenged Rashidi to develop a predictive model that could predict AKI, a common complication of infection, from a set of biomarkers.

Rashidi decided to give it a try. Unknown to Rashidi and Tran, their work on AKI set the stage for the development of a very powerful data analytic software named MILO.

What is MILO?

Machine Intelligence Learning Optimizer (MILO) is a turnkey software tool that provides a fully automated ML/AI solution to many different research and business needs. From the time of its early development, it has been validated as a robust platform by multiple research studies and has recently been licensed for business applications.

“MILO is a real timesaver and a game changer,” said Rashidi, professor in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine. “It gives the best accuracy at the fastest rate.”

MILO provides realistic and reliable results that are better than traditional non-automated analysis approaches. MILO does multiple tasks such as data cleaning and scaling and finding the best performing ML model. Using machine learning, it builds and compares hundreds of thousands of models within various optimized ML pipelines. The users pick and deploy the most suitable model based on their needs and the field’s best practices. This process is as easy as making a few clicks.

MILO’s approach is simple: Make no assumptions

“The beauty of MILO is that it minimizes human bias in deciding on the best algorithm or feature selector for the dataset,” Rashidi said.

Without any assumptions, MILO works as a matchmaker between the data set and the various algorithms. It ultimately identifies the best combination of algorithm, feature selector and other variables. Its built-in system performs like a virtual ML and software engineering team at the service of the user.

“MILO is like a team of experts at your fingertips!” said Rashidi. “It enables any investigator to take full advantage of the powerful world of machine learning in a very user-friendly interface. It is super simple and virtually anybody can use it.”

Machine learning predicts AKI in patients with burns and with trauma

Tran and Rashidi were fortunate to have data on neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), a powerful biomarker for AKI. They found that “if NGAL is a great biomarker, machine learning is even better,” said Tran.

The study predicting AKI in burn patients using AI and ML was a precursor to more studies on AKI in trauma patients and to the development of MILO. What took the team four months to find in the AKI study using traditional non-automated approach, MILO did in less than a day and with better performance measures.

“The initial AKI pilot project in burn patients was verified with secondary prospective data. We were also able to include tertiary data from the University of Cincinnati and UC Davis and now we know it is as real as it gets. The model is predictive of AKI across the board, in both burns and non-burns trauma patients. Very exciting!” Rashidi said.

Using MILO, the researchers were also able to develop models that work well in point of care (POC) delivery. The ML algorithm can save physicians critical time to act based on more accurate and precise knowledge. With a handheld device, physicians or paramedics can have more precision in predicting whether trauma patients will develop AKI or other disorders that may need immediate attention.

“Who wouldn’t want to know earlier and with confidence the result that is accurate, sensitive and specific?” Tran said.

Bright minds, many long nights and numerous collaborations behind MILO

MILO is a product that came out of UC Davis with the efforts of three passionate researchers. The core MILO team includes Hooman Rashidi, Nam Tran and Samer Albahra, the current clinical informatics fellow and computer software engineer.

“The work that we’ve done wouldn’t have been successful if we didn’t have the right team,” Rashidi said.

A solid group of people from laboratory specialists, machine learning experts, burn and trauma surgeons, internists, basic science researchers and business developers made MILO a successful innovation.

“One of the biggest tributes on this project is for Tina Palmieri, professor and director of the Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center at UC Davis Medical Center,” Rashidi said. “She is a great collaborator and deserves much credit as the clinical rock of the Burn Center.”

MILO’s intellectual property, business development and partnerships

James Kovach serves as a key advisor for the MILO team. He is the chief innovation officer at Aggie Square and the director of Translational Entrepreneurship and Industry Research Alliances at UC Davis Health. With his keen eye for innovation and business potential, Kovach saw the great value of MILO. He worked with InnovationAccess, a unit of Innovation and Technology Commercialization (ITC) in the UC Davis Office of Research, to file provisional patent applications for MILO and for the AKI analysis. In January, MILO was showcased at the BIG Event of the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. This event was sponsored by the ITC’s Venture Catalyst unit.

Recently, MILO was licensed to mdlogix, a leading behavioral health software company who owns BHWorks software platform. MILO’s predictive analytics capabilities complement the various software solutions that mdlogix offers.

The MILO team also worked with a multicenter dataset for predicting severe infections in burn patients. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the MILO team started a multi-institutional collaboration to study eicosanoids and cytokines in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. They are also part of a collaboration between UC Davis and the Pakistani National Institute of Health – a WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Viral Diagnostics – for a COVID-19 investigational study. The software will be used as a predictive analytics tool to help in matters such as distinguishing potential intensive care unit (ICU) patients from non-ICU patients.

“The possibilities of applying MILO’s predictive analyses to improve patient care and to potentially save lives is remarkable,” said Allison Brashear, dean of the UC Davis School of Medicine. “The exemplary work by the MILO team is indicative of the interdisciplinary innovation taking place throughout the UC Davis School of Medicine.”

* Professor in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine, vice-chair of Graduate Medical Education, vice-chair of Informatics and Computational Pathology, director of Residency Program, and director of Flow Cytometry and Immunology.

Featured MILO Range Solution and Simulator

Customizable Solutions

MILO has set the international standard for interactive use of force, tactical judgment and firearms training systems, and range design. We are a world-leading firearms training simulator and range design provider for government, military, law enforcement, and police agencies worldwide.

Our customizable simulations deliver safe and realistic training options that allow you to effectively train your teams in both the use of firearms and less-lethal force options.  We have both simulation (MILO Virtual) and live-fire (MILO Live) training options available, with (MILO-Cognitive) components to integrate at any point. We are continuously working to improve our systems’ capabilities, so you can be sure you are investing in a state-of-the-art solution that will perfectly fit your needs for years to come.

Every officer is expected to walk into an emergency and make the right call. But a high-stress environment naturally constricts our perspective and limits our ability to reason beyond the moment. Immersive, emotionally vivid MILO simulations prepare officers to identify, process, and comprehend information about how to respond to any situation, whether it requires the use of their firearm or not.

While MILO’s “skill-focused” modes are akin to a very advanced firing range, the HD and 4K video scenarios offer a depth and breadth of police and military skills training otherwise unavailable. These are fully emotionally immersive role-playing scenarios, shot in high-definition or 4K video, featuring branching decision trees that simulate real-world encounters. Every scenario can be run in interactive low-light/flashlight conditions on the fly. Training weapons can be furnished to match whatever your officers need — handguns of all models (including options with both live-fire and dry-fire rounds), tactical rifles, shotguns, even less-lethal options (TASER, OC spray, batons, etc.). With a MILO use of force simulator, your trainees can go beyond just target practice.

But the focus isn’t just on shooting skills because force won’t always be the right choice. Instead, MILO offers scenario-based police training that requires the trainee to choose the appropriate tactic, whether or not that requires the use of a weapon. While marksmanship will always be of the utmost importance, police officers’ split-second decision-making ability is often even more crucial in maintaining public safety and effectively de-escalating the situation. MILO custom firearm training simulators take police firearm training a step further, enabling law enforcement to have a controlled response in any situation. (MILO also offers solutions like DrivingForce, the industry’s only fully integrated police driver training and force-options simulator solution.)

Over and over again, trainers and instructors report that the real value in their immersive use-of-force training simulator is that it allows officers to identify human behavior cues and zero-in on the often subtle opportunities to change the course of an interaction, perform effective de-escalation, create some space, and avoid the need to use possibly deadly force. An immersive simulation also makes it possible to fully explore every possible outcome of each force option or tactic. We enable your trainers to teach your use-of-force policy and the laws and regulations behind them with research-based tools, including curriculum in the most immersive technology available. As those policies change, so will your firearms training simulator. We invest time in understanding your needs and policies upfront and then work closely with your team to develop and deliver the appropriate training solutions. We’ll help you find the best way to integrate this custom solution into your training procedures and support you in maintaining and evolving this solution as your policies and challenges inevitably change over time. We don’t just sell use-of-force simulators; we partner with agencies and their instructors to develop their ideal immersive virtual firearms training system that will enhance training for years to come.

Space Foundation and MILO Space Science Institute Announce Program to Increase Participation in Space Exploration and Commerce

Space Foundation Press Releases

Written by: Space Foundation Editorial Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — April 6, 2022 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983, today announced a new partnership between its Space Commerce Institute and the MILO Space Science Institute led by Arizona State University to offer Space Studio Accelerator a 12-week program designed to increase participation in space exploration and commerce. The program prepares teams for space missions and commercialization efforts, teaching participants how to become a successful part of the new space economy.

Space Studio participants from universities, startups, and public-private partnerships engage with space industry to create new collaborations, ventures and acquisitions. The program’s goal is to train teams to better understand the lifecycle of the global space industry, to advance the supply chain, and to focus on problem solving and project management. Teams will learn how to develop innovative solutions that create sustainable pathways to contribute to their regional space ecosystems.

Kelli Kedis Ogborn, Space Foundation’s vice president of space commerce and entrepreneurship remarked, “Space Commerce Institute’s partnership with MILO allows us to further drive innovation, reshape markets and create a sustainable pipeline into the rapidly changing space ecosystem. Space Studio Accelerator will assist participants in gaining critical capabilities necessary for career advancement.”

Teams will be provided with technical information related to their destination, launch and mobility vehicles, communications, and mission operations. Participants develop payload technology while simultaneously learning entrepreneurial principles and best practices for scaling their businesses.

The Space Studio program culminates in a “Demo Day” where reviewers with subject matter expertise in space commerce assess the teams for technology and investment potential. Reviewers are selected from potential industry partners, investors, and government representatives who can help the team engage in their desired markets and future funding opportunities.

“The collaboration with Space Foundation allows us to open doors for more people to participate in space exploration,” said David Thomas, executive director of MILO. “Space encompasses many domains. As we are building capacity, we are training not just the next generation of space explorers but also the next generation of ‘Earth solvers.’ These are transferable skills.”

How robot Milo can help autistic children – Forbes Kazakhstan

November 09, 2018

The international conference “Autism. World of Opportunities”, bringing together parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, speech therapists, psychologists, defectologists, pediatricians, local and international experts

Photo: archive of the press service

Sometimes people frown. Look at my face. My eyebrows can go up and down , – says the robot. He can recognize faces, emotions, dance and maintain a meaningful dialogue.

Robot Milo was brought to Kazakhstan from South Africa. There are hundreds of such robots in America and Europe, but not a single one in Kazakhstan. Charitable Foundation Bulat Utemuratov ( No. 4 in rating of the richest businessmen of Forbes Kazakhstan magazine ) plans to acquire Milo for the correction of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Many children with autism do not make eye contact. They cannot read facial expressions. An adult can say the same thing with different expressions. The word “good” can be said with agreement, with irony, with anger. Our children don’t understand this. During a conversation, they are so busy reading facial expressions that they do not understand the words. So sometimes when you speak, they look away. Milo’s face doesn’t move. It is still, except for teaching moments, – explained the principle of interaction speech therapist Daneil Heim (South Africa).

Photo: archive of the press service

Daneil Heim with the Milo robot

The communication robot is part of the innovative therapy introduced to Kazakh specialists by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation. The first autism center “Asyl Miras” was established by the foundation three years ago. The founder allocated $12.5 million for development.

Now the centers operate in five cities of Kazakhstan – Astana, Almaty, Kyzylorda, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Uralsk. More than 9 covered0061 5500 children with autism spectrum disorder. All Asyl Miras centers are absolutely free. For comparison, a rehabilitation course in a paid Russian center will cost an average of $ 3,000 , in China – $ 5,000 , and in the States you will have to fork out a round sum – from $ 50,000.

Many people think that us rehabilitation centers. This is not entirely true. The main mission is to bring new technologies to Kazakhstan, introduce them and train specialists. We have already brought diagnostic tools. We train professionals to manage crisis behavior. Teenagers are sometimes aggressive, difficult to work with, and we teach. Robot Milo – why not? This is a very interesting technology. But it is not only financial issues that need to be addressed. This cute boy should also be accompanied by a specially trained specialist , – told Marat Aitmagambetov , director of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation.

Marat Aitmagambetov

For three years, the center has established contacts with the world’s leading experts, introduced a modern methodology for managing crisis situations of the Marcus Autism Center (USA), a methodology for assessing basic speech and learning skills (USA), piloted the “Early Bird” parent support program for UK experience. Amazing results were shown by the JASPER speech training system of the University of California at Los Angeles.

In three months more than 80% of non-speaking children begin to speak , – said Marat Aitmagambetov, adding that American teachers came a year ago, taught the methodology to Kazakhstani colleagues and still consult remotely.

Jonathan Lerman

The world is full of legends about financially wealthy, high-functioning autistics. American artist Jonathan Lerman has a very low IQ but draws amazing portraits with charcoal. Japanese Composer Hikari Oe can hardly speak, but has perfect hearing.

Geniuses do occur, but those who do not have outstanding abilities are the majority. International experts on autism did not hide the fact that the adaptation and employment of such people is a big problem all over the world.

Big companies say: well, what should I do with the blind, the deaf, the autistic? Our goal is to find meaningful work. You can’t work out of pity. In practice, there are cases when employment was successful. For example, people with cerebral palsy are good programmers. People with autism are very internet-oriented, they often work remotely , – told Peter Labouchen (South Africa), managing director of Edit Mycrosystems, the company that created the robot.

According to WHO, out of 160 children, one suffers from an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). According to international experts, the number of children diagnosed with autism in Kazakhstan may approach 90,061,60,000. Experts note that it is important to diagnose autism in the early stages. The earlier such children are detected, the more chances they have to become full-fledged members of society.

History

The community was first known as Township Number 3 in the seventh range north of Waldo Patent. It was settled by Benjamin Sargent and his son Theophilus of Methuen, Massachusetts on May 2, 1802. On January 21, 1823 he was registered as Milo, named after Milo of Croton, a famous athlete from ancient Croton in Magna Graecia, Southern Italy. [4] It will become a shopping center and Trafton’s Falls will provide water power to the early industry. In 1823, Winbourne A. Swett built a dam on a 14-foot (4.3 m) drop in the river and erected the first sawmill. Thomas White soon added carding and a felting factory. Joseph Cushing and Company built a woolen textile mill in 1842, but it burned down six years later. [5]

The Bangor and Piscatavis Railway arrived 1868–1869. [6] and Milo turned into a little Mill Town. He produced numerous lumber merchandise, and in 1879 the Boston Excelsior Company built an excelsior factory. The American Thread Company built a factory with a narrow gauge industrial railroad in 1901–1902, moving its equipment from Willimantique, Connecticut. [7]

Derby Village

The early Bangor and Piscataki and Bangor and Katahdin Iron Works railways met at Milo Junction. After these railroads merged into Bangor and the Aroostook Railroad, Milo Junction became a Derby Company town with the second largest car repair plant in New England. In 1906, the railroad invested $414,448.95 in brick buildings, including a two-story office, planer, and engine room with a 242-foot (74 m) locomotive shop and a 54,000-square-foot carriage shop connected by a 75-foot (23 m) transfer table travel 369feet (112 m) back and forth over the repair pit. Employee housing initially included a 45-room hotel with a canteen for single railroad workers and 46 houses with bathrooms, water heaters, stoves, and electric lamps for married men. [8] The village has expanded to include shops and 72 identical employee houses in four rows along First and Second Streets. These one-color designs were sold by the railroad in 1959; and the hotel became a community center. [9]

Ku Klux Klan

Main article: Ku Klux Klan in Maine

On Labor Day 1923, Milo became the site of the Ku Klux Klan’s first daytime parade in the northern United States. 75 clan members marched in broad daylight during the city’s centenary celebrations. [10]

2008 fire

On September 14, 2008, a fire destroyed several buildings in downtown Milo, including a flower shop, an arcade, and a True Value hardware store. Due to the age, composition, and proximity of these buildings, the fire spread easily and devastated much of Main Street. Firefighters from Milo and several nearby towns were called in to put out the blaze. There were no reports of injuries. The cause was determined to be arson. [11]

In January 2009, Christopher M. Miliano was arrested and charged with two counts of arson, one count of theft, one count of burglary, and one count of aggravated assault; prosecutors alleged that Miliano set fire to the pub he robbed, leading to the fire. [12] In July 2009, Miliano entered a guilty plea for his offense and was sentenced by the Piskatikis County Superior Court to twenty years in prison with a suspended sentence but eight. [13]

In popular culture

  • The Sign of the Beaver is a children’s historical novel by Elizabeth George Speer published in 1983. Set in the 18th century, Matt James Hallowell, a 12-year-old boy, builds a log cabin in the Maine wilderness with his father. Left alone in the cabin while his father leaves to pick up the rest of the family, Matt struggles to cope with difficult survival situations and is eventually helped by the arrival of Attean, a member of the local beaver tribe. The sign of the beaver was inspired by a true story from 1802 and is documented in the history of the small town of Milo, Maine; in it, a teenage boy, left to care for his family’s hut, was helped by local natives when his supplies were plundered by a bear. The book is one of Speer’s most popular novels and has received numerous literary awards, including the Scott O’Dell Award for Historical Fiction and the Newbery Medal. TV movie 19’97 titled Keeping the Promise was based on a novel by Speer.
  • Climate charge in The Battle for the Little Round Top and other events documented in Michael Shaara’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Killer Angels (1975), and Gettysburg, a 1993 film based on the book, relied heavily on just a few surviving diaries such as Milo’s diary of Sergeant William T. Livermore. His diary states: “We were ordered to charge them when there were two of them, not ours. With fixed bayonets and shouting, we rushed at them, which frightened them so much that no more shots were fired at us. Some threw down their hands and ran, but many got up, begging for mercy … Pursuing them as far as was reasonable, we ‘rallied around the banners’ and saluted them warmly three times, and then returned to our former position with our prisoners.” An archived copy of his diary can be found at the Milo Historical Society.

    Monastery of Saint Amand

Veüe and the perspective of the Royal Abbey of St Amand en Tournaisis, founded in 638 by Dagobert I Roy of France, administered by sir Placid Parois, abbot and serving the religious organizations of the order of Saint Benois.

The Monastery of St Amand was founded around 630 under the name of Elno or Elnone under the Merovingian regime of King Dagobert I er in northern France. The name Saint Amand was given to him later to commemorate Amandus of Maastricht, who died around 675. Thus the name of Saint Amand was given to the monastery, as well as to the nearby village of Saint-Amande-le-Haut, during Milo’s apprenticeship at Elnon. The monastery reached its heyday during the Carolingian Renaissance, developing as a center of knowledge, as well as a cultural and artistic center. Mylon de Saint-Amand, as well as his nephew Hukbald de Saint-Amand, will study at this monastery.

    Education

Milon began his studies when he entered Elnon (Saint-Aman). Having learned Latin, Milo will move on to the works of the classic Virgil. Through these texts, Milo will discover history as well as poetry and Latin poetry. Milo will continue his study of the “Trivium”, which combines the study of grammar, rhetoric and dialectics. He perfects his learning with the quadrivium, i.e. music, astronomy, geometry as well as arithmetic. The development of all this knowledge will lead Milo to writing and the art of Latin rhetoric. At the end of his academic career, Milo will in turn be the teacher of, among others, his nephew Huqbald: a composer, musician, theologian, teacher, and hagiographer.

Milon’s school surrounded by his students in the municipal museum of the abbey tower of Saint-Amand-le-Haut.

    Her work

Milo de Saint-Amand’s most famous work is his long poem dedicated to Saint Amand. In Latin, the poem is called “Carmen de Sancto amando” and in French “Une vie de Saint Amand”. The Life of Saint Amand recounts the adventures experienced by Saint Amand throughout his life. His texts are in the same tone as those of the classical Roman writer Virgil. He then wrote a biography of Saint Aman, which he sent to several bishops, including Bishop Hinckmar of Reims, Bishop Thierry de Cambrai and Abbe Adalard d’Elnonay, and King Charles Le Chauve. will be the work that each person adds to the biography. His second poem is called “De Sobrietate”. Rather, his writings are aimed at an educational goal.

    “Appendio”

The historical part of his works consists of the documents he collected concerning Saint Amand. The “appendtio” or “addition” is a document explaining the role of St. Amand in the monastic world, as well as his place in the chronology of his time.

    Letter from Pope Martin

I, first sent to Saint Amand

A copy of the letter sent by Pope Martin I – st to St. Amand will also serve as inspiration for Milo’s writings on the life of St. Amand. This letter was written on papyrus two centuries before 649. the letter shows that Pope Martin I – nd is sorry to hear that Saint Amand has left his episcopal office in Maastricht. In addition, the Pope reports on the Great Council of Rome in 649 and asks for the details to be circulated.

    Three sermons

Thus, the document describing the three sermons in honor of St. Amand is the source of hagiographic writings. Every time we celebrate Saint Amand there should be a sermon, , after the death of Saint Amand during the first translation of the saint, and in the second translation of the saint.

    Will”

A copy of Saint Aman’s will, not in a legal sense, but rather by his will, will symbolize Milo’s inspiration in his poems, as his will to be buried in Elnon. In fact, Saint Amand has no property of his own, in fact the will is more focused on his desires than on his property.

Who doesn’t remember the movie “The Mask” with Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz? The young actors were almost eclipsed by their performance by a competitor – a smart and talented dog named Milo. No sooner had the comedy been released than the Jack Russell Terrier had a lot of fans all over the world. Cheerful jumping dogs have become fashionable and glamorous.
Arkady Novikov does not hide the fact that he also saw his Milo on the screen for the first time. Now there are four Jack Russell Terriers in the restaurateur’s family, as well as a Russian Toy Terrier and a German Shepherd. Until recently, the dog company was diluted by a cat who lived in the house for 17 years and died of old age in the arms of his beloved owner.

    – Arkady, in early September, dogs were shot at a military unit in the Leningrad Region on the orders of the commander. The death warrant was signed immediately after the dogs were removed from allowance. You trained service dogs in the army. Can you imagine such a situation at that time?

    — I feel sorry for the dogs. At any time there were unkind, ruthless people. If they kill their own kind, then one should not be surprised that they raise their hand against animals as well. Unfortunately, it has been and always will be. It’s sad and scary. Life today is restless, there is a lot of cruelty in it. If cruelty is mixed with cynicism and greed, then this is doubly creepy. I immediately imagined my dogs: I had 10 shepherd dogs in the army.

    – And you brought them up?

    – I cooked food for them, fed them, trained them. For four months he studied at the Central School of Military Dog Breeding near Dmitrov. The diploma says: the driver of guard dogs.

German shepherds were brought to our school, which were supposed to be trained, and then they were sent to the service. The dogs were taken from families, not from a kennel, so they did not understand why they were brought to an unfamiliar place with strangers. Many rushed, snarled, biting.

The young soldiers could not approach the dogs and started beating them. Initially, it seemed to me that this was normal, but after some time you understand the horror of what is happening. Probably, the soldiers beat the shepherds not out of cruelty, although this probably happened, but mainly because of youth, stupidity, intolerance. I have never beaten dogs, but I watched this picture and, unfortunately, I could not do anything. Didn’t even try. These are hard memories.

    — And how were your relations with the ward servicemen?

    – There was a case when a dog bit my hand, and I spent two weeks in the hospital. The memory left a scar. The shepherd is not to blame, she served. I had favorite dogs. Animals are like people: everything has a character. Among them there are good and evil, cunning and simple-hearted. By understanding dogs, you learn to understand people better.

    – Arkady, there is such a fashionable foie gras dish. Once I watched a report from a farm where geese are fattened for gourmets. Forced feeding is a painful procedure for birds. How do you feel about this?

    — I am calm. Then you don’t have to eat meat or fish, because it is always connected with someone’s death. I once thought: why not become a vegetarian? If we do not like animals that eat carrion so much, then how are we different from them? Unless we are trying to somehow cook it all. But in connection with my profession, I cannot refuse either meat or fish. Every day you have to try different dishes.

    — Have you tried dog meat?

    — No. Once in the Seychelles I tried a flying fox. I would not eat dog meat under any circumstances. Although I tried horsemeat. A horse and a dog – aren’t they the same thing? And for someone, the fish is the same native. In general, animals should be loved and eat less of them, especially members of their families.

    — Do your dogs have human rights?

    – Of course. A shepherd has slightly less rights. For example, she does not sit at the dinner table. And Jack Russells are just like people, they even sleep with us.

    — How far does spoiledness go?

    – Far enough. They are allowed to sit on a chair, jump up to the ceiling, beg, put one paw on the edge of the table. Two – no, you can’t.

    – Did you get them at the same time?

    – No. Milo is the oldest and most thoroughbred, he is already 8 years old, he is a grandfather. I gave it to my wife for our wedding anniversary. This was a surprise. She dreamed of a dog. I went to the kennel, chose a puppy, I had to wait until he grew up a little. Finally the day came when he was brought. It was 9 o’clock in the morning. The wife woke up, saw a tiny puppy that fit in the palm of her hand, and screamed with happiness. It was very touching.

    – There is a fashion for dogs, which, unfortunately, is transient.

    – If a dog is loved, then it does not matter at all whether it is in fashion or not. The main thing is that they are not thrown out into the street. Any animal educates people. Children are taught kindness, and adults – tolerance.

    — How do you feel about dog restaurants? Many people believe that their owners are mad with fat.

    – Dog restaurants are a game. And there is nothing reprehensible in this. Then you don’t have to go to the theater, to the cinema. Sit at home and look out the window.

    — Can you imagine life without animals?

    – Without animals, it’s boring and sad. Empty in the house. You sit and no one asks for food, your nose doesn’t poke, you don’t hit your knee. Animals seem to complete a joyful family circle. So interesting to watch them! Jack Russell is head over heels in love with a shepherd dog – this is the love of a lifetime, strong, devoted, but unrequited. The shepherd does not like him. And the toy terrier is such a funny pornstar! Plays around with toys, imitates sexual fun without stopping.
