Milestones in the history of Starkey Hearing Technologies

The brand was founded in 1967. It was then that Bill Austin opened a hearing aid repair service. There was no talk about production then, but repair services were of high quality and affordable. The company then faces rapid multi-stage growth:

1971 – Austin buys a small earmold company called Starkey Laboratories, thus combining the Professional and Starkey brands, and begins the history of this company as a manufacturer of hearing solutions.
1973 – The Starkey brand launches the world’s first custom in-the-ear hearing aids, propelling the company to become an industry leader. These instruments are quickly becoming popular with a year-long warranty and 90-day trial period.
1976 – the beginning of the expansion of the sales geography. The first branch was opened in England (Manchester), then in Germany (Hamburg), Canada (Toronto), France (Paris) and many others.
1978 – the beginning of the implementation of social programs, in particular, the opening of its own charitable foundation, a program for recycling old batteries from devices, providing people in need with hearing aids.
