AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Willowdale KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
Participating Child Care Aware Center
KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.
Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.
Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!
A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH
An Artist’s Heart
“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.
We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.
Family Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!
-
We have been bringing our four children to KinderCare for almost four years now. When we moved to the area, we visited numerous daycare centers in the area, but we immediately felt that there was something special about KinderCare. The teachers in every classroom, from the Infant Classroom all the way to the School Ager Classroom, love all of the children tremendously and you can tell they put their whole heart into what they do each day. It is just a really happy and loving environment. When we pick the children up, they are always happy, busy and nurtured in ways unique for each child. They do an endless number of special things for our children each day. We are truly thankful for the amazing teachers at KinderCare!!!

Leaving my child of only six weeks old in someone else’s care was the hardest thing I ever done. But, the staff at KinderCare recognized that hardship and have been so understanding and supportive. My child now is one year old and he never even cries when I leave him at KinderCare. The staff at are an extension of our family, and I am grateful that such wonderful people are here to help me raise my son.

Do you offer part-time schedules at Willowdale KinderCare?
Everybody’s schedule is different. We’re happy to offer quality, affordable part-time and full-time childcare. Drop-in care may also be available. Reach out to your Center Director to learn more.
How does naptime work at Willowdale KinderCare?
Our teachers meet every child’s needs during naptime. Our teachers know how to get babies to nap. In fact, they are pros at getting children of any age to nap. Visit our article on “10 Ways We Help Kids Get a Great Daycare Nap” to learn more.
Do you support alternative diets?
We strive to be as inclusive as possible. To that point, we provide a vegetarian option at mealtime, take care to not serve common allergens and can adapt menus based on your child’s food sensitivities. If your child has additional needs, we’ll work with you to figure out a plan.
Are meals included in tuition? Can I choose to send my child with lunch?
We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by a registered dietician to meet the needs of rapidly growing bodies and minds. If your child has special dietary requirements and you would prefer to bring in their lunch, please make arrangements with the center director.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

The main thing is attention
“Children used to be different,” teachers and parents say. This is not a reason to complain, but simply a statement of fact. And you have to work with it. After the adoption of amendments to the Law “On Education”, it’s time to think about what kind of “wrong children” grew up, where they came from, and most importantly, how to find an approach to them, when the methods of our parents are no longer effective, and in some places are not applicable. We talked about this with Tatyana Skorik, the head of the kindergarten “Humpbacked Horse”, a deputy of the Norilsk City Council.
She came to work in a kindergarten in 1990 as a music director and personally went through all the metamorphoses of the educational system. Now Tatyana Vasilievna can judge the shortcomings of the old system and its advantages, as well as the valuable achievements of the reform, which one does not want to give up in the pursuit of standardization.
– Tatyana Vasilievna, tell us what is the golden standard of preschool education that we are striving for now?
– The education reform has been carried out since 1991, and we understand that it has not justified itself in all issues. Gradually, we are returning to the old uniform standards. It was a good fundamental base, which was not worth destroying. Now we are striving for uniform requirements. But you should not worry, because no one has canceled creativity in the profession of an educator. Therefore, the coming changes do not cause concern.
– How would you characterize that foundation? What was good about the old model?
– Knowledge, skills, skills – our favorite ZUN, with which all graduates of pedagogical schools came to work in kindergarten. At some point, we wanted to abandon the old principles, but it turned out that everything new is a well-forgotten old.
What I like about the new standards system is that we have removed the word “should”. The child does not owe us anything, he grows and develops. And we, adults, must help him. Therefore, I think that with the help of standardization of preschool education and the introduction of a unified approach, we will be able to preserve the traditions of preschool education and upbringing.
Modern parents are often mistaken in believing that when going to school, a child should be able to write, read and count. No. At preschool age, the main activity is the game and the child must play enough.
Of course, we teach self-organization, instill love for work, the Motherland, but it is also important to teach how to achieve one’s goals, it depends on how diligent and diligent the child will be in school. Indeed, at school, the game is gradually fading into the background, more and more time is given to study.
Great attention in preschool education is paid to the development of communication skills. The ability to make friends adds confidence to the child.
– Can you highlight the positive changes in the field of preschool education?
– First of all, this is an approach to the subject-developing environment. I was born in Norilsk in 1969 and went to Kindergarten No. 4, where many years later I became the director. This change of eras and generations took place before my eyes.
In my childhood, there were shelves on which there were toys, so to speak, for beauty, and children were not allowed to touch them. Today, such memories bring a smile. You can probably understand, because before there was a shortage of educational aids and toys. And now everything is there, and the developing environment is arranged in such a way that the children themselves choose what they will do during the day. This is facilitated by the principles of multifunctionality and transformability, which, for example, allow you to rearrange and change the function of furniture. This is great.
– One of the important achievements of the reform is inclusiveness. How difficult is it from the logistical side and how do teachers cope?
“It started in 2013. And we were not ready for such changes. Just a couple of years later, the gardens began to be rebuilt. Now any preschool institution is ready to accept a child with disabilities. You just need a little time and patience and remember about the individual approach. We resolve issues as they come up. For example, a child with cerebral palsy was admitted to the institution, and we create conditions for him – a special chair, a verticalizer are purchased, a playroom and a toilet room are equipped. We consider the issue of continuity to be important in such cases. When such a child goes to school, we communicate with the management and teachers so that they also have time to prepare and create the necessary conditions.
– Now the number of compensating groups is increasing. And it may seem that the number of children with special needs is growing. Is it so?
– In fact, we simply did not have the opportunity to open so many groups. Now in every kindergarten there is a speech therapist, defectologist, psychologist. Special children were not given due attention, but that was a long time ago. Now everything is different. A lot of club associations and circles have been created, where everyone can find something to do.
We track the development of each child and try to send him to school with a portfolio that lists all his achievements and hobbies. Let him not shine in the exact sciences, but, for example, he sings and dances. Recently, at a city event, I met a former pupil. I didn’t even recognize him right away – he matured. Now he studies at the Polytechnic College and sings on the city stage, but there was a serious health problem. The guy found his place in life. And that’s great.
– One of the hottest topics for kindergartens in the Far North is health care. In this regard, many gratefully recall Soviet kindergartens. And what is being done for the health of preschool children?
– Yes, first of all, a preschooler must be healthy, then he will succeed in his studies, and there will be strength left for his hobby. I am convinced that the closure of physiotherapy rooms in preschool institutions was a hasty decision, but it was required by law. Nevertheless, the issue of health saving in our activities remains a priority. For example, we have a “BOS-health” office, where children do breathing exercises; swimming pool; physical education classes are held.
Now the plans are to develop a new full-fledged project. Why not bring back health offices with a nurse? You can make a salt room, pearl and coniferous baths, inhalation therapy rooms, massage rooms, organize a photo gallery. It will be difficult to return it, but you need to try.
– Does the staff shortage affect teaching staff in kindergartens?
– To get experienced teachers and specialists right away today is a rarity, there is a shortage of them. Previously, many graduates of the Norilsk Pedagogical College came to work with us. Now many people leave after the end of the 11th grade for the “tower” in other cities and stay there.
