Child Care FAQs
The national typical hourly rate in 2022 is $20. 00 per hour for nannies and $17.50 for babysitters. Learn more about how to set competitive rates for attracting the best babysitters.
The best way to find child care near you is to post a job detailing your needs on Sittercity, which will be shared with our community of available babysitters and nannies. We’ll notify you when child care providers apply to your job, and from there you can proceed with interviews, background checks, and reference checks so you can find the perfect fit for your family.

Families find trustworthy child care providers on Sittercity who are passionate about providing safe and enriching care for their children. Many providers report they are First Aid and CPR certified to provide the best care for your family. Babysitters and nannies have the option to complete regular background checks, and you can easily request a recent background check if they don’t have one or it is not recent. Families can also request to see professional references!
Our dedicated team also champions safety across our platform every day. Child care providers go through an identity verification process Berbix when registering an account. Some additional safety measures include Family Watchdog screening, babysitter and nanny reviews, and secure messaging.
Nannies and babysitters share the same primary responsibility of providing safe and enriching care for your child, but there are a few differences between them. Nannies are more commonly associated with regular work, whether full or part-time, offering daily or consistent care to a particular family. There are also several different types of nannies, including au pairs, house managers, doulas, live-in, and overnight nannies.
Babysitters, on the other hand, are typically hired for irregular or occasional work, either full or part-time. If you’re looking for last-minute care for date night, or the occasional few hours after school, a babysitter is a great best option.
Identifying the type and frequency of child care you’ll need is the best way to decide whether a babysitter or nanny is a better fit for your family.
Child care providers on Sittercity love providing enriching experiences for your children, and sharing their passions with them. They’re happy to participate in outdoor activities like sports, or indoor activities like music, baking, tutoring help, and art. Wherever your child’s interests lie, child care providers on Sittercity can engage them in a nurturing way.

Morristown National Historical Park HiSoUR – HiSoUR – Hi So You Are
Morristown National Historical Park is a United States National Historic Park headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey, which consists of four sites important during the American Revolutionary War: Jockey Hollow, Ford Mansion, Fort Nonsense, and New Jersey.
Morristown National Historical Park, located in Morristown, New Jersey, marks the sites of General Washington and the Continental Army winter camp in December 1779years to June 1780, where they experienced what would have been the coldest winter ever. The park also maintains a museum and library collection related to the camps and George Washington, as well as items relating to pre- and post-revolutionary America.
With its creation in March 1933, Morristown became the nation’s first National Historic Park. The sites are located in Morristown and Harding, both in Morris County and Bernarsville in Somerset.
Jockey Hollow, a few miles south of Morristown on route 202 in Harding, was the site of a Continental Army camp. It was from here that the entire Pennsylvania contingent rebelled, and then 200 New Jersey soldiers tried to emulate them.
Bullshit Fort occupied a high hill overlooking Morristown and is believed to have been the site of a signal fire as well as earthworks.
Ford’s mansion, actually in Morristown, was the site of the “hard winter” (December 1779 – May 1780) of George Washington and the Continental Army quarters. This winter remains the coldest for New Jersey. Theodosia Ford, widow of Jacob Ford, Jr., and her four children shared their home with Washington, his employees, including Alexander Hamilton, along with their servants, and sometimes members of their families. Martha Washington went to Morristown to spend the winter with her husband.
Washington Headquarters Museum, the adjoining museum is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from September to June and seven days a week from July to August from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The museum has three exhibition halls and a shopping area. Video production “Morristown: Where America Survived” (New Jersey Network/2009) shown. The Ford Mansion is only shown on the tour, which starts at the Museum. The Museum hosted one of the events of the CelebrateHAMILTON 2015 program: hosted by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Community, a talk by author and historian Michael Newton – “Hamilton’s War Services Revolution”, who also presented his book “Alexander Hamilton: The Formative Years”. at the same event.
The New Jersey Brigade camp site is located south of Jockey Hollow, primarily in Bernarsville, Somerset County. It was used by about 1300 soldiers in the winter of 1779-80.
In April 1932, the National Park Service (NPS) published a report recommending that the Continental Army winter camp site in 1776-77 and 1779-80 become a “Federal Historic Preserve”; the report included two sites: Jockey Hollow and Ford Mansion.
In January 1933, a conference composed of NPS representatives, the Secretary of the Interior, and civic and business leaders from the Morris County area drafted a bill supporting the concept of a national historic park with “rank and dignity equal to the scenic program in the West.”
A bill to establish a National Historic Site in Morristown was introduced in mid-January (HR 14302, S. 5469) with the support of Secretary Ray Lyman Wilber, who called it “the most important park project before this department at this time.” »
In March 1933, in the last days of Herbert Hoover’s presidency, the 72nd Congress approved Morristown as the nation’s first National Historic Park.
