The Missouri City location is the best Academy location in the area. We first went to Sugar Land, but the staff was unfriendly and not helpful. The associate couldn’t find the item we wanted even though it showed as being in stock. And no one else seemed interested in trying to help.

We then went to the Missouri City location. There was an associate in the front who greeted us and asked if she could help us find anything. We headed to the department we wanted and another associate immediately helped us. He quickly found the item we were looking for, and even helped carry it up front, since it weighed around 70 lbs. After checkout, two associates helped us out to our car and even loaded our item in the back. Such a difference between the two stores. I’ll go out of my way to visit the Missouri City store in the future.

The Missouri City location is a great place to shop. The staff here is extremely friendly and extremely helpful and always willing to help you out with anything you need. The selection and prices are good just like any other Academy. However I think the attention to service and detail to the customers here is a little bit better than most other branches.

Tour program

Day 1 Chicago: Arrival at Chicago International Airport

CC0 Creative Commons License by Laurent Schmidt

Chicago: Arrival at Chicago International Airport. Self-transfer to the hotel, accommodation. nine0003

Chicago is the largest city in the Great Lakes region. The indescribable beauty of its skyline is beyond comparison! Chicago is top museums, restaurants and cafes, an unthinkable number of bars and nightclubs that follow the traditions of classic blues and jazz. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 Chicago – Springfield (about 328 km)

Chicago – Springfield (about 328 km on the road).

Pick up your rental motorcycle and start your journey.

The legendary Route 66, which runs parallel to Interstate 55, starts right here and crosses the country towards the Pacific coast. You will have a unique opportunity to feel what this track is like. You will meet on your way some of the oldest eateries and other American “things” that have survived to this day. From Chicago, you’ll drive straight south, past the old town where McLean trucks often stop, and through the roar of the Illinois coalfield along the Pontiac Trail (the original name for this part of the road). Overnight in Springfield – the capital of Illinois. nine0003

Day 3 Springfield – St. Louis – Rolla (about 328 km on the road)

Springfield – St. Louis – Rolla (about 328 km on the road).

Your journey continues further south towards the city of St. Louis. This is an independent city in the USA, in the state of Missouri, one of the most significant cities in America. Along the way, you will meet a huge number of cities located along the line of the route, which have changed since their foundation. Take a breather and stop to see the famous Dixie Truck Stop, the Statue of Our Lady, the city of Lichfield, and The Paris Stop Cafe. Take time to visit the Meramec Caverns on your way to the Mississippi River and don’t miss the famous chin of rocks bridge – a long bike and walk bridge. You are in Missouri, a state where the forests meet the prairie and the Mississippi River meets the Missouri River. Your path lies straight in the direction of Rolla. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 4 Rolla – Tulsa (about 464 km on the way)

Rolla – Tulsa (about 464 km on the way).

Following from Rolla, you will head deep into the large limestone plateau of the Ozarks, located in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. The Ozarks are known as a cultural and historical region and tourist area of the country, which occupies most of the territory of Missouri and northern Arkansas. This area remained a frontier area until timber companies established themselves here at the end of the 19th century. Although none of the peaks of the Ozarks are high, the road here is incredibly changeable – slopes, climbs and turns succeed each other, delighting the eye with breathtaking views of the slopes of dense oaks, elms, hickories and redbud – drought-resistant shrubs blooming in pink, especially brilliant in autumn. You will pass through the famous towns of Lebanon and Conway. Make a short stop in the town of Carthage to see the beautiful old courthouse. Stop at Joplin before you enter Oklahoma. Oklahoma is the state with the largest number of route kilometers compared to the other seven states. The conditions here are definitely far from the best, but this place is great for bikers and old road enthusiasts. Today’s destination is Tulsa. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 5 Tulsa – Oklahoma City – Clinton (about 312 km on the way)

Tulsa – Oklahoma City – Clinton (about 312 km on the way).

From Tulsa you will head through Oklahoma and follow the contour of the continent. You drive 100 miles across western land between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, where the Indians used to live. In the 1830s, these lands, considered unsuitable, were slightly aloof and belonged to the Indians. The so-called Five Civilized Tribes lived here. This is a kind of term for the five peoples of the United States, which at the beginning of the 19th century had already mastered many of the customs and achievements of white settlers and established good relations with their neighbors. Today, the state has a large indigenous Indian population. You will then follow the El Reno bridge, about a mile long, near Bridgeport, after which the road will take you to Clinton – the heart and soul of Route 66! Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 6 Clinton – Amarillo (about 288 km)

Clinton – Amarillo (about 288 km on the road).

Wake up early this morning. A trip to the Panhandle awaits you, the southernmost part of the Great Plains, which is often called the “real Texas”. Here you will see the Texas described in the legend. According to the legend, the buffaloes and the indigenous people were expelled from these territories, so the lands formed into a dangerous and uninhabited region. But development began in the 1870s. As it turned out, the lands here were rich in natural resources. Helium, especially in Amarillo, oil, agriculture – brought prosperity to the region. Amarillo seems to be slightly cut off from the rest of Texas, but it stands on one of the routes that cross the whole country of Route 40 (a modern highway that runs parallel to the legendary Route 66). Amarillo takes its name from the Spanish word for yellow, the color that is so characteristic of the region. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 7 Amarillo – Santa Fe (about 464 km on the way)

Amarillo – Santa Fe (about 464 km on the way).

Today you will leave Texas and head to “Magic Land”, New Mexico. On the way you will pass by one of the wonders of the world – Cadillac Ranch. How would you like to go to the haunted town of Glen Rio, where you can have one foot in Texas and the other in New Mexico? Well, 5 states are already behind, 3 are still ahead and you are on your motorcycle following through the Comanche land to Tucumcari – the largest city, which is located between Albuquerque and Amarillo. Santa Fe is your destination. This one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the country will be your base for the next 2 days. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 8 Santa Fe: time for rest

Santa Fe: time to relax.

Feel the special flavor of a city with four hundred years of history. A mixture of cultures can be seen in the southwestern architectural style associated with the capital of New Mexico. You may want to drive along the river valley to the old Indian city of Taos. Overnight at the hotel in Santa Fe.

Day 9Santa Fe – Gallup (about 320 km)

Santa Fe – Gallup (about 320 km on the road).

You will head south towards Albuquerque, the largest city in the state of New Mexico. After crossing the canyon of the Rio Grande, located at the intersection of roads and railroads, follow the west of the country to the Navajo reservation. Tonight you’re staying overnight in Gallup.

Day 10 Gallup – Flagstaff (about 296km)

Gallup – Flagstaff (about 296 km on the way).

Gallup about half an hour to the Arizona state line. Enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Petrified Forest National Park, famous for its giant trees. Another twenty kilometers to the west and you will reach Holbrook and Winslow – two old towns on Route 66, which have been preserved thanks to transcontinental truckers. Flagstaff is the liveliest and most attractive city where you will feel the charm of the Wild West. Its main thoroughfare is Santa Fe Avenue. This is Route 66 familiar to us, at the time when it was just built. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 11 Flagstaff – Grand Canyon – Williams (about 264 km on the way)

Flagstaff – Grand Canyon – Williams (about 264 km on the way).

Wake up early this morning and head for the majestic Grand Canyon, which is much bigger than anything you could imagine. Enjoy one of the most impressive places on our planet and let yourself make a couple of stops along the canyon to capture it in its full glory. From the Grand Canyon you will drive south towards the old town of Williams. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 12 Williams – Laughlin (about 304 km)

Williams – Laughlin (about 304 km on the way).

From Williams you will continue on the Mother of All Roads to the west. The road here sags further north, descending from the highlands through the Indian town of Peach Springs to Kingman, considered the “Heart of Historic Route 66. ” The road goes up into the mountains towards the famous mining town of Otman. You will cross the state line and find yourself a few miles from the Laughlin gambling island. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 13 Laughlin – Victorville (about 344 km)

Laughlin – Victorville (about 344 km on the road).

Today you will drive your motorcycle into California – the final state – the destination of the legendary Route 66. Cross the Devil’s Games site – the largest sandy region of the Mojave Desert. Here you will be presented with one of the most dramatic landscapes in Southern California. Amidst the sands, oases of lush vegetation, volcanic formations, Joshua trees and pinon pines shine. Further you will find the coolness of San Gabriel – along the latitudinal chain of mountains in the southwestern part of California. Next stop is Victorville. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 14 Victorville – Los Angeles (about 176 km on the way)

Victorville – Los Angeles (about 176 km on the way).

Your final destination is Los Angeles. Drive towards Santa Monica, as Route 66 ends in this city. This is the oldest and largest resort in Los Angeles, once a wild beach, today an independent and wealthy community. Spend the afternoon sightseeing: Hollywood with the famous Chinese Theatre, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and more. It’s time to return your iron friend to the rental office, where you will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel. nine0003

Day 15 Los Angeles: Your unforgettable journey on the legendary Route 66 has ended
