How to Teach Your Child – Speech And Language Kids

Teaching “When” questions can be very difficult so I’ve broken it up into the four types of “when” questions that are typically asked and how to address each one.

1. Time of Day “When” Questions

An easy one to start with is time of day when questions. These are questions where the response is a time of day, be it a specific numeric time or a general period like “morning” or “night”. Here are some examples of these types of questions:

When do you eat lunch?
When do you go to sleep?
When do you play outside?
When do you take a bath?

To teach these when questions, start with a few picture choices for your child. For example, you could have a picture representing nighttime and one representing daytime. Then, ask your child a question that either happens at night or during the day and have her point to and say the correct response. For example, when do you sleep (at night) and when do you eat lunch (in the day). Then, work your way up to questions with more complex answers like “morning” or “noon”. Don’t worry about numeral time (like 4:00) unless your child is able to tell time. Then you can work on things like “when does the bus come pick you up”, etc.

2. Seasonal “When” Questions

The next type of when questions you can teach your child include what season something happens. For example, when do you build snowmen? In the winter of course! For these when questions, start by having picture choices of all the seasons in front of your child and have her choose which one is correct. You may have to talk about the seasons beforehand so she knows which one is which. Keep doing this until she can answer them without the picture cues.

Holiday/Special Event “When” Questions

Next are when questions where the answer is a holiday. These are questions like “when do you go trick-or-treating”. Again, start off with some picture choices of all the different holidays and see if your child can answer the questions using those. Once he can do that, remove the pictures and see if he can do it without using them.

4. Cause and Effect “When” Questions

These are the most difficult when questions to answer because there is no set amount of possibilities. These are questions like “When do you eat? When I’m hungry”. For these when questions, you won’t be able to have picture choices available for every question but you may want to have some choices that you can give them verbally. For example, you could say “when do you wash your hands? When they’re dirty or when you’re tired?” Start off giving those types of choices and then eventually just ask the question and see if she can answer it on her own. These will take a lot of practice so keep working at it!

Game “What? Where? When?: questions for younger students

Through games, people improve their communication and logical skills. So, for example, “Monopoly”, “Mafia” are the favorite board games of people of all ages. The television intellectual quiz “What? Where? When?”. It is also easy to turn it into a desktop, which will perfectly brighten up leisure time and expand the horizons of children and teenagers. The format of the game allows you to make it a favorite family entertainment, an interesting party for schoolchildren, a themed birthday party, an extracurricular activity at school. The main thing is that the questions are appropriate for the age and developmental level of the child.

The history of the creation of the famous TV show

For the first time the famous program “What? Where? When?” appeared on TV screens on September 4, 1975. The founder of the first quiz was Vladimir Yakovlevich Voroshilov, a famous TV presenter, director and artist. The quiz quickly fell in love with Russian viewers and became popular both in intellectual and working circles.

Somewhat later the rules of intellectual training, prizes and the very name of the club changed. The spinning top was chosen as the main symbol of the TV quiz, from the action of which they began to determine the answering player.

That’s interesting! At first, experts answered questions momentarily. Only a little later, the players were given time to prepare and united in teams.

Honorary Soviet figures of science and culture were invited to evaluate the answers of the TV quiz participants. The final form of the training was determined in 1982. From that moment on, the game became interested in foreign countries as well. Today, more than 30 countries are members of the association of connoisseurs.

Benefits of quiz show for children and at what age to start playing it

TV show “What? Where? When?” proved to be useful not only for adults, but also for children. During competitions, the child learns to follow certain rules, solve riddles, skillfully answer questions, quickly focus on a particular topic, and work in a team. The main thing is that there is an acquaintance with practically encyclopedic knowledge, which increases intelligence. Even older preschoolers can take part in a home tournament.

Basic rules of the game

Two teams take part in the quiz:

experts;
viewers.

In the traditional version of the training, the expert team has 6 trained players, including the captain. The spectator team can be made up of volunteers who have prepared interesting questions in advance and have expressed a desire to take part in the “brainstorming”. The entire gameplay takes place at a table with a top located in the middle – a random number generator.

Important! The right to voice the package of questions belongs to the quiz leader. He does not directly participate in the game, he only broadcasts it behind the scenes. He determines the correctness of the answers and acts as the chief judge.

Game process continues up to 6 points. The team that manages to score this number of points first wins and takes the prize. Of great importance in the quiz is the top – a random number generator that determines the order in which certain questions fall out. Launches the spinning top distributor of the gaming hall.

Once the facilitator asks a question, the experts have 1 minute to discuss and form a final answer. At the end of the time, the team captain chooses which of the training participants will answer the question. Then the presenter announces the correct answer and assigns points.
