Tsiolkovsky, aviation and astronautics presented the photo exhibition “First: Gagarin and Cuba”.
This exhibition is held at more than 130 venues in 60 cities: 57 cities in Russia, 2 cities in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the capital of Cuba – Havana.
A unique photo project dedicated to the memory of the USSR pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, the first president of the Soviet-Cuban Friendship Society Yu. A. Gagarin. The photographs are presented by the Russian news agency TASS.

Photo exhibition “Legends of Russian Cosmonautics”

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the first space flight of Alexander Aleksandrovich Serebrov, USSR Pilot-Cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, Honorary Citizen of Kirov, a photo exhibition “Legends of Russian Cosmonautics” was opened.

Alexander Alexandrovich studied at secondary school No. 14 in Kirov from grades 1 to 7. A Muscovite by birth, Serebrov recalled our city with warmth and always came to meetings with Kirov residents with pleasure: “I, who launched into space four times, visited the most exotic places on Earth, consider the city of Kirov to be the best place. The more I go here, the more expensive it becomes for me.”

The exhibition introduces the stages of Alexander Serebrov’s life, his journey to space, and his work in orbit.

Photo exhibition “Animals-cosmonauts”
The photo exhibition is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the flight of the dog Laika, the first animal in Earth’s orbit, and is dedicated to animals that have been in space and their contribution to the development of world and domestic cosmonautics.

Visitors to the exhibition will see more than a hundred photographs, learn interesting facts about the dog Laika, the cat Felicette, the rat Hector and other well-known and little-known astronaut animals. The exhibition will be interesting for all ages.

“Space Stories in the Dymkovo Toy”
In the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, the museum hosts a unique exhibition “Space Stories in the Dymkovo Toy”. This is a joint project of the Museum of K.E. Tsiolkovsky, aviation and cosmonautics and the Kirov branch of the VTOO “Union of Artists of Russia” – folk art craft “Dymkovo toy”.

For the first time, the exhibition presents toys specially created by famous craftswomen, which will show stories about the famous Vyatchans – a boy, nicknamed “bird” – Kostya Tsiolkovsky, who lives in the patriarchal Vyatka of the 19th century and dreams of the incredible – flying into the sky, about our legendary countryman USSR pilot-cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Petrovich Savinykh, his flight to the “dead” Salyut 7 station. These are stories about the first animal-cosmonauts – Belka and Strelka, the first lunar rover and much more.

The space theme of the Dymkovo toy will open the famous craft from a new perspective – as an interesting art object that organically combines a modern scientific idea and an ancient folk artistic tradition.

“The Dzhanibekov Effect”
A mini-exhibition “The Dzhanibekov Effect” was opened at the Space Center to mark the 80th anniversary of Vladimir Aleksandrovich Dzhanibekov, the USSR pilot-cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. The exhibition presents items from stock collections and materials provided by the Association of Museums of Cosmonautics. We invite you to an exhibition that tells about the space biography of the legendary cosmonaut and his passion for painting!

Do you know what the “Dzhanibekov effect” is and how a Soviet cosmonaut discovered an unusual phenomenon?

In 1985, Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov, while on board the Salyut-7 orbital station, noticed an unusual phenomenon. In zero gravity, he twisted a wing nut off a long stud and noticed that the nut, after flying a little, turns 180 °, then, after flying a little more, turns around again. Moreover, the turns are repeated at regular intervals.

The phenomenon was called the “Dzhanibekov effect”, it is also known as the tennis racket theorem or the intermediate axis theorem.

Photo exhibition at the Children’s Space Center. V. P. Savinykh is dedicated to the birthday of the great Russian scientist, the founder of cosmonautics K. E. Tsiolkovsky, and is the result of the traditional annual photo contest, which takes place in the summer, in the nominations “Space on Earth”, “Along the Milky Way”, “Citizen of the Universe”, “In the center of space”. One of the most famous cosmonauts in our country is a native of Vyatka (Kirov). Therefore, several expositions of the museum are dedicated to him, as well as to one of the most famous space flights in the USSR – the Soyuz T-13 expedition together with V.A. Dzhanibekov. Perhaps many now remembered the film based on that flight of the Savins and Dzhanibekov to the frozen and uncontrolled Salyut-7 station. Perhaps some even remembered that Viktor Petrovich was dissatisfied with the final version of the film, saying, in particular, that many moments were distorted, obviously to make it more dramatic, but in general, if we consider the film as an incentive for the younger generation to study space topics, it is quite suitable .

During a break between exhibitions, you are taken (not free, of course, in the ticket price) to the planetarium, where you can notably stretch your legs while looking at a mini-documentary about exoplanets on a spherical ceiling. And then we will move smoothly to the Museum of the History of Tsiolkovsky. The building was built in 1858 and is an architectural structure of the second half of the 19th century. At 1968, a memorial plaque with a bas-relief of the great scientist was installed on the house. In 1974, the building was declared a monument of history and culture of republican significance. The exposition of the museum covers two major themes: “The life and work of the founder of cosmonautics K.E. Tsiolkovsky” and “The contribution of the people of Kirov to space exploration.” The exposition presents the Vyatka period of the scientist’s life: furniture, household items of the second half of the 19th century, which could be in the houses of Vyatka officials; physical instruments of the late 19th century. and which the scientist could use; lifetime editions of works by K.E. Tsiolkovsky in the field of aerodynamics, aeronautics, aviation, rocketry, etc.; photographs, documents and personal belongings of pilot-cosmonauts of the USSR: V.P. Savinykh and A.A. Serebrov. Kirov | Children’s Space Center in Kirov presented summer projects

On July 4, the Children’s Space Center hosted a presentation of summer projects. As its director Svetlana Shumailova said, the main promising direction of the institution’s work is cultural and educational, which includes educational events, museum lessons, the work of clubs for robotics, aerotronics, modeling and others.

The Center also plans to organize new exhibitions and engage in scientific and fund activities necessary to preserve the cultural heritage and complete the collections of the Museum of K.E. Tsiolkovsky, aviation and astronautics with new exhibits.

— We want to create a cultural and recreational environment in the Center that would meet the modern needs of the population. The most important thing is that it be useful for the children and youth of our city and the entire region,” said Svetlana Shumailova.

According to the director, the creation of an interactive hall of astrophysical phenomena continues in the new premises of the space center, it is planned to buy a telescope for it.

In summer, new excursions will be held on the observation deck on the roof of the institution with an overview of the historical part of the city and acquaintance with memorable places associated with the stay in Vyatka of the family of the great Russian scientist, the founder of cosmonautics K.E. Tsiolkovsky.

Also one of the space center’s summer projects is the photo contest “Earth – the cradle of mankind”. Competition nominations: “Space on Earth” (photographs of what is somehow connected with space: the reflection of the Moon in a pond, a stone similar to an asteroid, northern lights, etc.), “Along the Milky Way” (pictures of the starry sky, the Milky Way, Moon, planets), “Citizen of the Universe” “portraits in a space image), “In the Space Center” (photos taken at the Children’s Space Center, on excursions, in the planetarium).

Entries for the photo contest can be submitted from July 1 to August 31 to the email address [email protected] . The results will be summed up by September 10, the winners will receive prizes and diplomas on the eve of the celebration of the birthday of K.E. Tsiolkovsky.

In addition, on July 25, the Children’s Space Center will open the exhibition “Life Given to the Sky”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of a native of the village of Kilmez, Kirov Region, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in parachuting, absolute world champion, holder of 20 world records Tatyana Voinova. At the exhibition, visitors will see unique exhibits: a flight recorder, a headset and an oxygen mask of a military navigator, an onboard star chart and much more.

According to Svetlana Shumailova, since September, at the Children’s Space Center, due to numerous requests from parents of young visitors, clubs will start operating: robotics, aerotronics, virtual cosmonautics, a design bureau, a space fantasy club and others.
