Kids Castle treats the kids so well.  The directors and teachers really care about the kids.  I would say that the combination between caring and teaching is perfect.  They believe in a different ways to teach (hands on, on-line, and e-learning tools).  This allows different kids with different skills to learn the way that best fits him or her.  I would highly recommend Kids Castle to anyone considering daycare.

This daycare is really special.  They are so caring and helpful.  The place is so clean compared to the last daycare we were at.  The other nice thing is that the owner comes and visits the daycare and interacts with the parents.  I highly recomend it.

Kids Castle Child Care Center I’ll never forget working at this school 🙂 As a matter a fact I’m in the process of Opening a Day Care and My Principles and values will be from this school. Mrs.Bingham is the Best Director I have ever worked for, she is truly someone I admire and look up to. She is like a mother to us, mentor and truly cares for the children. Since working there I have worked at many other locations and there’s noneee like her . Mrs.Bingham really honestly care for your child’s EDUCATION & FUTURE!!! I remember her walking around the school making sure teachers were TEACHING!!!! God Bless HER SOUL & HEART !!!! MS. LOPEZ

A four year old student was hit by a teacher today. The irector told the parents that an invstigation will be performed. The child was taken out of the school today. I hope the parents follow through and press charges. The directors needs to be replaced along with the teachers that hit the children. Some teachers at this school are mentally, and physically, and emotionally abusive to the children.

This is not a very good place you place your child to learn development skills. My child attended Kids castle in ’06 and i had so many issues with the staff and directors. Even to this day i have had plenty of neighbors who had their kids attend this facility and from ’06 to just last week and am still hearing bad reports on this school. They will make a parent believe that its their child with the issue but really its the school with the issue. I do not believe more that 1 kid will have the same issues year after year without the same kid attended and new kids or going to this school. I do not believe children are safe in this environment mentally or socially for public school preparedness going to K or grade 1

This school needs to be balanced. I think children are stucked in a classroom setting for to many hours a day. They should be given at least 25 to 45 minutes of outdoor play time through out the day.

This school, from the principal to the families, has exceeded our expectations. I think it is underrated, but probably because the students who are learning English aren’t doing as well on tests as other students it is ranked lower than it seems like it should be.

negligence is what this school is about, they do not care for their students specially the principal assigned to the school, their only concern is to cover up all the violence going on with the children instead of looking for a solution.

Where a happy childhood lasts a lifetime

Our Program

We have designed a nurturing, creative world for infants, toddlers and preschoolers to help develop both minds and bodies. Our teachers work closely with you to ensure a smooth, happy transition into our program — for your child and for you. We are committed to creating a strong bond with your child to ensure the best start in life.

Waldorf-inspired preschools are places where children learn how to be social. Teachers foster the idea of individuals becoming a true group, developing skills in communication and empathy, and learning to see and understand one another’s strengths and challenges.

Infant Programs

The first five years of a child’s life is an amazing period of growth and learning that serves as the foundation for future stages of development. The Early Foundations Infant program provides the right environment and experiences to meet these rapidly developing abilities. Our program emphasizes the importance of positive, supportive interactions between our teachers and your child. Our teachers sing, read, and talk to your child to help him or her with this critical development.

Toddler & Twos Programs

Two year olds are terrific learners. They are beginning to understand group play and become better at communicating their thoughts. Our Early Foundations Twos program emphasizes language development to help children turn their ideas into words and sentences. Children will also have plenty of group activities to practice social skills such as cooperation, sharing, and taking turns.

Preschooler Programs

A preschooler’s world opens up in new ways as children improve coordination, learn complex games, and begin to interact more with their peers. Our Early Foundations Preschool program introduces language, math, science and social skills in a logical, natural sequence to encourage learning one step at a time. Our teachers also provide extensive individual attention to support your child’s unique needs.

Our program provides a rich classroom environment where children are encouraged to explore, and challenged to learn, while making friends and developing self-confidence. Because children learn best by doing, we provide a hands-on experience for your child.

Program Highlights

  • Age-appropriate toys, games, & music to stimulate development
  • Nurturing, personal care that builds trust & self-esteem
  • Stimulating activities and group interactions that encourage your child to play and explore

How It Works

Our program is limited to 12 kids daily, with 3 full time licensed childcare providers. The school is best suited for ages 12 mos. to 5 years and we also offer drop in care for school age children.

  • Friendly Environment

We support happy and healthy families by fostering open communication with the families in our care. This insures that your child is receiving the best care possible.

  • Easy Scheduling

The parent may pre-schedule care, or call the same day childcare is needed. Advance notice is recommended due to the limited space available. You may also contract a guaranteed placement for your child for as many days per week as needed. We provide extended childcare to fit your schedule: hourly, daily, evening & weekend care is available.

  • Meals & Snacks Included

Program includes all meals and snacks for ages 12 months and up (allergy-sensitive).

  • Kastle Activities

Kids Kastle provides arts, crafts, music, dance, in-house gymnastics, cooking, outdoor adventure, dramatic play, creative play and gardening. We are a learning environment dedicated to using many different resources for mind stimulation.

  • Nap Time

Clean, peaceful rest and nap periods are provided daily. Linen is cleaned daily.

  • Fees & Contact

Fees are based on the type of care required. To work out your personal fee schedule, please call us at (925) 284-CARE, or email

Did you know that when we bake & make snacks, the children learn about:

  • Counting
  • Spatial relationships
  • Measuring
  • Using deductive reasoning to observe, investigate, and predict
  • Reading and following a recipe
  • Social interactions
Meals & Snacks continued…

Our program includes weekly menus and special food choices for allergy-sensitive children. We pride ourselves on a low-gluten diet. We understand the many foods that cause inflammatory issues in the body, and avoid using processed sugars, homogenized oils, saturated fat and trans fat. We believe in serving freshly farmed fruits and vegetables. We are apart of the Roger Ranch Urban Farm and Teaching Garden located in Pleasant Hill.

We eat healthy…

We use all organic fruits, vegetables and snacks whenever possible, and strive to provide healthy and satisfying choices for our children. Teaching healthy eating at an early age can have a huge impact on a child’s eating habits for the rest of his or her life!

Due to the different ages and dietary needs in the infant program, parents are required to provide their infant’s meals, snacks and milk source. We ask that parents do not provide foods that contain honey, peanuts, tree nuts or fresh eggs due to potential food allergies.

About Us

How We Started

Kids Kastle has been providing quality childcare since 1982. Michelle Service started her career as childcare provider at the age of 18. She began by attending San Francisco State University to focus on early childhood education. During her courses at S. F. State, Michelle was required to devote many hours at childcare centers to observe children at play. It was during this time that Michelle realized that she wanted more interaction and hands-on experience with the children she cared for. Following the recommendation of one of her professors, she decided to open a family childcare facility of her own. Michelle’s immediate success in working with children and their families blossomed into nearly three decades of unparalleled service. Michelle has helped providers all over the Bay Area develop quality childcare centers. As a result, Michelle received the 1998 Soropomist Award for “Women Helping Women”. She has also been recognized by Mayor Rosemary Corbin of Richmond, Congressman George Miller, and District Supervisor Jim Rogers. Michelle continues to serve in the childcare field by mentoring other providers in building strong healthy childcare businesses.

Michelle loves the gift of working with children so much that she volunteered as a CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) teacher for 12 years at her local church. She served on the board of the “Active Reading Clinic” for 10 years—a wonderful program that helps non-traditional learners learn to read. She also was the Director of “Birthright,” a pregnancy support group, where she volunteered for 14 years.

Michelle is passionate about helping children have happy childhoods. She devotes a great deal of energy to staying in contact with most of her alumni by organizing play dates, reunions and outings. Because of the close bond she has created with the families, Michelle is now caring for the generation of children whose parents was once in her care. Michelle hopes to continue her work in early childhood education by providing a safe, happy place for children to grow.

“The old guard and locks will not save you from the tragedy”: fathers and mothers – about protection in kindergartens

Olga, mother of a five-year-old son, Moscow

I always read news about runaway children and criminals who entered the garden unguarded with horror. The first one definitely does not threaten my child: I specifically chose a garden in a new building with a modern fence, supplemented with polycarbonate sheets. It closes the garden around the entire perimeter, and the child cannot reach the bell to open the gate from the inside. Both the gate and the door to the building itself can only be opened with a parent’s personal magnetic card, cameras are installed.

But the guards are two men who bear little resemblance to the brave OMON fighters. One is very old, the other is younger, but does not have a good physical shape. It’s not that they carefully peered at the visitors, they are more often busy with their own affairs. And even if they peered, I doubt that an unarmed guard would deftly twist a criminal with a gun. I understand that even with our relatively high security measures, there is a risk that an armed criminal may enter the garden – and then the old guard and locks will not save from tragedy.

Evgeny, father of a three-year-old daughter, Moscow region, Ivanteevka

We have three children in our family, and I see how the security measures in the kindergarten are changing. Sixteen years ago, when the eldest son went to the garden, some preschool children generally came in the morning themselves. The door to the territory is open, as well as to the kindergarten itself, you just need to press the button, and an elderly watchman will let you in. Once, an emergency happened during a walk – two children ran to the nearest store to get candy, it’s good that the administration caught on.

The daughter’s garden is better guarded in this respect – a high metal fence, a surveillance camera, and the exit button is set high – the children will not reach out. There are guards inside the building, but more for appearances – an elderly woman. It all reminds me of the story with the ramps: they installed it just for show, but nobody cares how it works.

A couple of times I saw strange men without children in the corridors, they just stood at the window or at the stairs. The teacher asked one in front of me what he was doing here, he replied that to the headmaster – and she went on. To be honest, I don’t know how it would be possible to change the situation – not to make a sensitive object out of the garden.

100%

Alena, mother of a five-year-old son, Nizhnevartovsk

I think that everything is fine with us. Our garden is fenced, there are two gates. Both are open in the morning and evening, one in the afternoon.

Entrance to the territory by personalized chips, they are assigned to parents or those relatives who take and pick up the child. But in the flow of parents during “rush hour” you can easily go for someone.

If you arrive at a different time and you don’t have a chip, a guard opens the door, asks who you are, looks at your documents and writes down your passport details. There are surveillance cameras in the corridors, though not everywhere.

Olga, mother of a six-year-old son, Orenburg region, Buzuluk

In our kindergarten, everything possible is done to ensure the safety of children, but, unfortunately, safety is often neglected by the parents themselves. There is a combination lock at the entrance to the garden, almost every group has its own separate entrance (we share ours with another group) with an intercom. There is a guard at the door. Not an old man, but quite a cool uncle who, by the way, knows all mothers and children by sight.

But there are nuances: when you call the teacher on the intercom, you need to say who came – give the name and group. But often mothers who are in the locker room at that moment open it to others without asking anything. Personally, I don’t do it that way. Parents also sometimes do not close the entrance door to the territory behind them. We have a small town, so strangers do not come in, but vigilance never hurts.

Nargis, mother of a five-year-old daughter, Kazan

Our garden is surrounded by an impressive fence, you can get in with an electronic key that is given to parents. There are also cameras at the entrance. Only one active entrance has now been made to the kindergarten building itself. There is a guard, unfortunately, this is just an elderly woman. I don’t think she will be able to intervene promptly in case of danger.

Theoretically, you can get into the territory if you slip through with some parent with the words “I forgot my pass.” If at the same time I don’t look too suspicious, I think it’s unlikely that anyone will ask questions.

Yulia, mother of a six-year-old daughter, Omsk

Our garden is fenced, there are cameras. In each group there is an intercom, a parent, when he comes to pick up or bring a child, calls his name or surname and the teacher lets him in. But, of course, in the morning and in the evening the teacher does not always have time to come up and the door is opened by the parents, and even by the children, if we are talking about older groups.

There is a security guard, part-time janitor, he sits not at the entrance, in a separate room with cameras and watches what is happening. But I do not think that he is there during the whole working day.
