In most cases, we will cover travel costs for employees who live outside of a commutable distance to their office when they’re expected to come in for in-person work.
Pinterest offices
With PinFlex, every employee will be expected to come into Pinterest offices for in-person collaboration moments throughout the year. At Pinterest, we believe that experiencing our offices in-person and creating the opportunity to collaborate and connect with others is essential. Our offices provide an energizing atmosphere with world-class technology, collaboration tools, on-site dining (some locations), and more!

“Without experience and the right education”: How a Belarusian got a dream job on Pinterest
Bubble
Yulia Spinoza has been working in motion for two and a half years. Before that, she managed to work as an SMM student, finish her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics, get into IT, burn out and find her dream job. Bubble tells her story.
Yulia
is a product designer on Pinterest. “That’s what they call all the designers who work on the product,” she says. “In fact, I am a motion designer, I move pictures.” nine0003
“I suffered during my undergraduate studies”
“I am a manager-economist by education. Now I’m 27. First I graduated from business administration
Belarusian State Economic University.
” data-bs-trigger=”focus” data-bs-custom-class=”popover_footnote” data-footnote=”{“content”:”Belarusian State Economic University.”,”linkContent”:””,”linkUrl”: {“value”:””,”meta”:{}}}}”>BSEU in 2017.
During my undergraduate studies, I suffered. I really wanted to leave the university at first, I even looked at directing at the Academy of Arts, but I studied for free, and I would have to pay when I was expelled. For some reason, I liked only English and the economics of production (I was very good at solving problems – this is my only automatic machine). I also liked marketing, but not a course at the university, but its very essence. Then I read a lot of everything about advertising, guerrilla marketing, consumption and all that. In general, I like to study, I even went to the magistracy in the restaurant business in order to stay longer at the university. The magistracy was part-time, and I sometimes liked to return to university. Another canteen was a dump of everything! I met cool people at the university – this is the most important thing. nine0003
During my studies, I worked as an SMM. I read a bunch of books about marketing and SMM, went to several conferences and got a job at a construction company in my second year of university — and worked there part-time until 2021.
Julia Spinoza, product designer on Pinterest
In 2018-2019, I worked as a messenger in three jobs – in a construction company, Red Graphic and Ragoo Media – I wanted to earn money as an IT specialist. But when you are an SMM worker, this treasured thousand dollars must be added up from several salaries. nine0003
I remember I could sit for additional work until Sunday night. After university, she got a job in a small advertising agency, and then went to another branding agency, Pocket Rocket. This time I already had a portfolio.
“I took sikdays just to lie down”
In 2019, I found a job in
A well-known company that we do not name at the request of the heroine.
” data-bs-trigger=”focus” data-bs-custom-class=”popover_footnote” data-footnote=”{“content”:”A well-known company that we don’t name at the request of the heroine.”,”linkContent”:” “,”linkUrl”:{“value”:””,”meta”:{}}}”>company X and got a job there as a partner content manager — when corporations needed a partner publication, I wrote TOR for designers and a copywriter.
nine0003
I was asked at social security if I was ready to overwork. “Yes, it’s easy, I love recycling, especially if they pay,” I answered. Everything was great, but due to the difference in time zones between Belarus and America, where partner corporations had offices, it was often necessary to stay longer about every three days or work on weekends. I worked on average 20-25 hours a month and it seemed to me that I just didn’t have time for anything. I worked at this pace for nine months. There were ten people in my team, I think they processed everything. At first it seemed to me that I was the only one so dissatisfied, but soon after my dismissal, three or four more people left. They didn’t want to pay me extra for overtime — the manager removed overtime hours from the tables. Now it seems to me that she did not want her superiors to see 25-hour shifts. But she herself worked too, but she was proud of it, for her work is a second home. nine0003
I was afraid of losing this position – after all, the first job in IT. As a result, I burned out, I did not have enough strength to do my job acceptablely. I worked a hundred times slower, it was very hard to get out of bed and force myself to go to the office, I really didn’t want to start tasks, I put everything off until later, no productivity techniques helped.
Julia Spinoza, product designer on Pinterest
I even took sikdays just to lie down at home in my burnout or take a walk on the street. My husband told me to leave, but I replied that this is a good company and an excellent line in the resume. There was no desire to quit – money. I was hoping to move to another department with tasks closer to producing, but by that time I was empty and HR replied: “We don’t see you in X.” And I’m like: “Hurrah.” nine0003
“no matter how cool you are, in a couple of weeks they will find a replacement for you”
Then I had two weeks of vacation, I took it in the last month of work and lay on the couch, tried to eat, slept and watched TikTok. Along the way, I thought about what I want to do with my life. I realized that I had already been fired and had nothing to lose, I had little experience in graphic design since working as a messenger – I made pictures for posts, brochures and even several billboards – and I went to courses. nine0003
Now I believe that no matter how cool a specialist you are, in a couple of weeks they will find a replacement for you. Therefore, it makes no sense to kill yourself for the sake of work. We have one head and one body – this is the most important thing. There is a problem of burnout – during it you feel terrible: I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep much, I was always tired. If you have a financial cushion, you should take a vacation for a month when you feel like this. You can take a vacation at your own expense – in IT, one month is a very short time for a project. I have friends who took
nine0003
Long leave at own expense.
” data-bs-trigger=”focus” data-bs-custom-class=”popover_footnote” data-footnote=”{“content”:”Extended vacation at own expense. “,”linkContent”:””,”linkUrl” :{“value”:””,”meta”:{}}}}”>sabbatical for a year or two.
I worked burnt out for about three months, and the news of my dismissal immediately made me feel better. These two weeks were enough for me to rest. My contract ended at X – two days later I was already at VOCHI. I was euphoric because I found a job as a designer, just like I wanted to. During these two years [at Vochi], I never once thought that I wanted to die from work. nine0003
“did a test based on Youtube tutorials”
In the last months of working at the first IT position, I already started looking for some other career development options and went to design courses. Compared to Pocket Rocket, their design was somewhere in 2010. I tried a 2D illustration – it didn’t work either. Then [a month before I left X] I sent 72 resumes to all the companies where there were vacancies for designers. Since I am very talented at writing cover letters in the spirit of “I can’t do anything, but I’m a very fast learner and I’ll become a senior designer in a month”, I was even sometimes answered. I wrote on Facebook about my experience in SMM and content making and mentioned that I want to be a designer. Anya Buglakova, Product Director at VOCHI, wrote to me. We met in 2019when I went to the courses at the Ikra School of Creative Thinking. She told about the vacancy for a designer and asked if I had a portfolio, I answered that, of course, I did, and I assembled it in three hours. I still like it, but it was a graphic design – static. Then it turned out that they were looking for a motion designer.
The VOCHI designers liked the portfolio and they gave me a motion design test. I opened After Effects and made a test using Youtube tutorials. It shows that I can do something, there is a good editing, but otherwise … Nevertheless, the designers also liked it. On Wednesday I sent a test, and on Monday I went to sign the documents. Then I found out that my background came in handy here: from the university I got fluent English, plus when you are a manager by education, it is easier to manage others and yourself. An economist, perhaps, better understands how the product works, and experience in SMM helps to come up with ideas that the target audience will definitely like. All this helped me get into VOCHI. nine0003
I agreed to a “test” salary two times less than in X. But I said in advance that I would not overwork – and did not overwork.
Over the weekend before going to work, I studied After Effects – I found an eight-hour course on bases on Skillshare – The Beginners Guide to Adobe After Effects. I sat and repeated all the tasks for ten to twelve hours. There is a great teacher and this course is just a godsend. When they ask me where to start, I answer: fifteen bucks a month and Skillshare. nine0003
“Self-persuasion works: you need to tell yourself that you are a wonderful cake”
I started working. Of course, I had impostor syndrome – I suddenly got a job as a designer in a cool startup with no education: no artist, no courses. It was difficult on the first tasks and I did everything slowly, I was very worried about the result. The most tinny was with the selection of colors – here I just used generators. I always asked the designers in the company something.
Julia Spinoza, product designer on Pinterest
Don’t be afraid to seem like a beginner when you are a beginner – here’s a life hack from all my work.
Previously, I was afraid to admit that I didn’t know something, so I spent a long time figuring out what an experienced colleague could explain in five minutes.
I bought another online motion design course for $300 from SKVOT, but I didn’t like the teacher’s approach: she didn’t answer questions during the course, then forgot about them, the feedback was like “everything is great”, although it’s understandable that nothing is great for a person who discovered Cinema 4D for the first time. So I learned from Youtube. nine0003
We asked Yulia to recommend some training channels. Here’s what she suggested:
- Jake In Motion – teacher channel from Skillshare,
- Intranetgirlx – good videos on Blender 3D.
- Maximus412YTC and Ben Marriott are two more channels with great tutorials.
Then I bought a subscription to Skillshare and took small courses there. Now I will go to the 2D illustration course in Fungi Studio – just for myself.
Julia Spinoza, product designer on Pinterest
Imposter syndrome comes from school, from the time you bring a nine and your parents ask why not a ten. Plus, I often changed my field of activity and had to start from scratch. Now I think, what did I do to deserve a good life? And at first I answer myself: “Well, it just so happened that I got into VOCHI, and then Pinterest accidentally bought us.” But in fact, I worked a lot and studied a lot in order to grow and develop. Self-persuasion works, you need to tell yourself that you did everything yourself and you are a wonderful pie. nine0003
Sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough at drawing. But it’s important not to think: “Damn, I’m so bad at drawing, I need to go to the courses. ” Instead: “I’ll go to the courses, I’ll draw even better.”
You can find more courses from skillshare at the link.
“Working from home saves three hours”
In early December 2021, American Pinterest bought the Belarusian startup VOCHI.
“A startup and a corporation differ in the speed of work – decisions are made more slowly and seem to be more thorough. Now we continue to work on VOCHI, but now it is a Pinterest project. Almost the entire team has relocated to Poland, and we work together – I can even speak Belarusian at work. nine0003
Remote work is great, I usually go to the office once a week, and working from home saves me three hours: I don’t have to have breakfast separately – this can be done during work too – go to lunch and go to work. Thanks to this, I get less tired and I have more strength – I have time to work and study. I try to study in the morning, at this time my brain works better. I also have a good visual memory: when I had to memorize formulas at the university, I simply wrote them down ten times, and when I memorized shortcuts in After Effects, I wrote them out in a notebook and sometimes looked at them. nine0003
I have a comic blog on Instagram. There was no goal to make money on this – I wanted to draw something meaningful and with humor. Once a psychotherapist asked why I draw comics. And I answered: “I just want to teach people a little bit.” Sometimes what I broadcast, I repeat to myself – not that I know this world and it is absolutely clear to me. Often I try to say something to myself: this is how the comic about impostor syndrome appeared. Subscribers are growing – it’s nice, I recently agreed on the first blogging ad.” nine0003

“The main mistake of social security is to customize answers”. Recruiters told about hiring in IT
Where IT recruiters come from, what difficulties they face in trying to fill positions and what mistakes they themselves make during interviews – it is useful to know before looking for a job.
Pinterest guide in 2022 for beginners
Pinterest is called the “social network for American housewives” with beautiful pictures for inspiration. The conventional wisdom is that it makes no sense to invest the resources of the team in its development.
This is wrong: Pinterest is not a social network, but a visual search engine. The main plus for business is that people come here not after the purchase, as often happens on the same Instagram, but before it.
The survey confirmed this: 83% use the site to plan something. At the same time, 58% of Pinterest users help make a purchase decision. nine0003
Personal stylist clients go to Pinterest to create a moodboard (a collection of inspiring examples in the form of images, graphics and photos) of the new season’s trendy items.
Someone planning a vacation or getting inspired for an upcoming children’s party or renovation.
Brides are looking for wedding contractors. Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s makeup artist Daniel Martin revealed that she came up with her bridal makeup using Pinterest.
According to Statista, in Q2 2019year active audience – monthly 300 million users.
For large brands and medium-sized businesses, Pinterest is an opportunity to set yourself apart from competitors. By investing in the development of visual content, you can integrate it into a new site and increase sales.

Why Pinterest is for business and bloggers
Content works 24/7
Every day people are looking for recipes, ideas for designing their home, fashion trends. If you go to the search tab, you can see which categories are popular on Pinterest right now.
A post in any of the social networks lives no more than a week. This is provided that if you invest in advertising, you have a live audience that reposts content and shares it with friends.
A picture with a link to the site will not give a sharp influx of traffic. But any pin will live for a long time. It will be relevant for new customers who are looking for the information they need. nine0003
Search is working
Therefore, it is important to optimize the content, which we will discuss in the “How to promote” section.
No permanent changes
Social networks do everything to keep you inside the platform. Most platforms are designed for this: don’t go anywhere, just be here.
Unlike other social networks, Pinterest does not have so many tools inside the site. No need to endlessly monitor what new features have appeared.
In Pinterest, all the traffic you receive leads to your site – you accompany each of the boards with a link to your resources. nine0003
No haters
The more subscribers you have, the more energy you need to keep burning interest.
Hence the need to develop hype topics in your blogs, thereby causing completely conflicting opinions. More media – more hate.
Comments are practically not used in Pinterest, so you are protected from negativity.
Minimum board time
After you set up your account, you need about half an hour a day to work with Pinterest – this is enough to attract an audience. nine0003
Track statistics and check with customers from which social network they came from: you will definitely be surprised.
It turns out that you have to put in less effort, and the results will be better.
In fact, minus one is the long development of the account. Even if you ping several times a day, no one promises you fast traffic.
There are courses, few experts, everything has to be tried. The rules are vague and there is no fast tech support to answer. This demotivates to continue working with the platform. nine0003
How to create a Pinterest account
Upload information to your profile
Upload a branded avatar. Write a description on your profile based on mid-range keywords (user queries that have between 100 and 1000 impressions) that are important to your industry. The character limit is 160.
Design boards
Boards reflect the essence of the brand. Create a first impression with them so that the user wants to stay. nine0003
https://www.pinterest.com/byammarose/boards/
Amma Rose teaches how to sell on the Etsy platform, so her boards are divided into specific categories: tips for those who have an Etsy account; Instagram for those who sell on Etsy and so on.
You can create a board on a specific topic, but make it private and not visible to other users. And update visibility when there is enough photo content — at least 25-30 pins.
Don’t forget to select the category your board belongs to. And use keywords in the description to it. nine0003
The photography board clearly shows what content the user will find.
In the board properties, select and pin a cover for each of them. The illustration is placed automatically, but you can change it to fit the theme of the board to draw additional attention.
The title is visible here, which is convenient for a user who is looking for specific content on a narrow topic.
Find popular keywords
Pinterest itself is a search network. Enter your keywords in the search bar and see what phrases users search for most often. It is convenient that here you will see boards and profiles. nine0003
Phrases users are looking for with the word wedding and popular boards on this topic.
Drink 2-3 times a day
For convenience, you can schedule your post when uploading a new pin. This feature is available inside the service.
The experiments of some Pinterest experts prove that it is better for the algorithms to be present on the site themselves, rather than using automatic posting tools.
How to download pin
1. Drag and drop content into the pin box
The image must be vertical. Add a bright, attractive headline that reflects the essence of the post: right on the photo.
If you can download some of the free materials from the link, mark it in the description.
Don’t forget to add descriptions in the ALT and TITLE fields when uploading photos to your blog or website.
The title of the picture should contain the essence of the content, the keyword and the source: blog or website, and the brand name or name. This is important not only for Pinterest, but also for search engine optimization. nine0003
Example: onlypult-how-to-use-pinterest.jpg
2. Add a short description of the image click and open your Pin.
Please note that they should be capacious: the keyword in the title and 3-4 exact sentences in the description.
3. Add a link to the site
Add an actual link to the site or web page where the user should go when they click on the Pin. You can mark the pin with a utm tag, for example, to track traffic from Pinterest. nine0003
4. Link your Pins to a board
The structure of Pinterest boards can be similar to a rubricator in a magazine. The main headings you talk about on your board. It will not be superfluous to add a description to each of the topics.
For example, the SMM specialists of the cosmetics brand Yves Rocher Deutschland made boards based on popular user requests and uploaded corporate-style covers.

How to promote your Pinterest 9 profile0013
In the first week of maintaining a profile on Pinterest, it is worth talking about the account in other social networks of the brand.
This is a free promotion method that will help you get active users in the first time. In addition, it may be more convenient for someone to follow the project on Pinterest.
If possible, include other opportunities for promotion.
1. Use tags
Leave tags after the description, do not include them in the text itself: this may prevent the search engine from tracking keywords. The maximum number is 20.
Users will be able to find your Pin when they search for something not directly related to your brand.
For example, the Whole Foods Market supplements recipes using products from their grocery store with hashtags of the main ingredient.
Let’s say they posted and tagged #SweetPotatoes. This way users can find the Pin when they search for recipes with that particular product.
2. Test ads
To use the advertising tools, go to “Audience Statistics”, then to the “All Pinterest Users” tab, then click on “Create Campaign”. nine0003
Microsoft was one of the first to launch promotional Pins for Black Friday. Target Audience – People looking for Xbox products or gifts. As a result, the company noted a significant increase in sales for the advertised goods.
Pinterest generates 45% of total traffic for the German kitchen appliance brand Springlane. They created an online platform with recipes and cooking tips, posting pins on their Pinterest profile with detailed recipes and a link to the site.
Campaign Pins are designed in the style of the brand, and the text on the image is a clear call to action. nine0003
After looking at Pins with relevant content, users wanted to cook their favorite recipes on their own and bought the brand’s products. According to Springlane statistics, there are as many buyers from Pinterest as from all other social networks.
In addition, there is a separate tab for products from the online store.

There is no advertising cabinet in Russia yet.
3. Participate in collective thematic boards
Users add both their own and other people’s Pins to one common board. There is a board owner who checks whether a given pin fits this topic or not.
Community support brings more users to the board. More target audience will come here, respectively, there are more chances that you will be noticed. This means that they will not only save the pin, but also, possibly, go to the profile of the one who created it.
Boards might look like this:
Tips for bloggers
Inspirational food photography pins
Various book selections
4. Set the Pin it! to the site
If you post illustrations on the site, everyone can share them on Pinterest. In this case, when moving the mouse over the image, the user sees a slight darkening on this image. nine0003
After the person saves the illustration, the system will prompt him to subscribe to your Pinterest account.
In order for the functionality to work, fill out an application for installing a button and confirm the rights to the site in a business account.
5. Analyze your audience
Analyze reach, countries, popular boards and popular pins to understand what topics or categories to focus on in your profile.
In analytics, you will see information about traffic from other channels: what content users are most likely to save. nine0003
The Audience Insights tool in your business account will show you the demographics of your audience and show you which topics they like the most.
We recommend verifying the website. Even if the Pin was created by someone else from one of your sites, your name will appear on it.
For each of the published Pins, you will see the following statistics: the total number of impressions, the number of engagements – approaches, saves, link clicks, video views and the average duration of its viewing.
