  4. Pay online and submit registration

For 2022, the Wellington Summer Program will be open for all families – including those not currently enrolled at Wellington during the school year! Please note that students not enrolled at Wellington must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination during the registration process.  To that end, only non-Wellington students entering Grade 1 and above are eligible for registration. This means that programs for students in Kindergarten and younger are limited to current Wellington students.

At this time, everyone at Wellington is required to wear a properly-fit 3-ply mask while inside the building, regardless of vaccination status. We anticipate this being the policy through Summer 2022. Even if Wellington’s policy changes, our partner organizations, instructors, and institutions have the full discretion to require masking. Please know that students who are non-compliant with wearing a 3-ply mask over their nose and mouth may be sent home without a refund.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination must be submitted for any non-Wellington student registering for any Summer Program. This means that for families not enrolled at Wellington, only students entering Grade 1 and above and with proof of vaccination are eligible to attend the Summer Program.

Yes. Payment in full is required at the time of registration.

A full refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee per class, will be given if you cancel a class for any reason prior to May 27, 2022, at midnight. After that date, we cannot issue refunds unless a program is cancelled.

For Summer 2022, we will offer a full slate of half-programs, with morning (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.) and afternoon (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) sessions. Most weeks, it’s possible to register for a separate morning and afternoon class to build a full day of care.

Yes! Neither lunch nor aftercare is included in the cost of Summer Programs, but both can be added during registration. (Simply find the “Lunch” and / or “Aftercare” session for each week of camp you wish to register for.)

Lunch is $40 per week, with a variety of kid-friendly foods and snacks prepared by Wellington’s dining service, Aladdin Food Management. Lunch should only be added for students attending Full-Day programs, or both a morning and afternoon Half-Day session on a given week. Unfortunately, lunch cannot be purchased by-the-day, and cash can’t be accepted on site. Students are also welcome to bring lunch from home instead of purchasing the add-on option! (Students who have dietary restrictions must bring lunch from home, as our summer food service does not have the same flexibility or options as typical school year offerings.)

Aftercare is $100 per week, providing structured, supervised childcare from 4:00 to 6:00 for students registered for Full-Day or afternoon Half-Day sessions. Students not enrolled in Aftercare must be picked up by 4:15. If you plan to use the Aftercare Program, you must register online in advance. As part of our commitment to health, safety, and capacity limits, daily drop-ins cannot be accepted.

Yes. All camps have enrollment limits to provide an optimal experience for campers. The waitlists are located at the bottom of the page on the registration screen. You will be notified via email if a spot becomes available and you will have 24 hours to accept the open spot. There is no fee or deposit to join a waitlist.

Please download the form here.

As we work toward rebuilding our program capacity during the pandemic, we have taken several important measures, including restricting class sizes, shifting class offerings, refocusing on outdoor and on-campus programs where possible, and requiring families not enrolled at Wellington to submit proof of vaccination when registering students. Additionally, we will continue to use the school’s COVID-19 Response Plan to guide and inform our decision-making in the coming months.

We’re here to help.

This is by far the BEST elementary school in St. Petersburg. The preschool focuses on academics as well as a lot of play time and combines the two in fun and creative, engaging ways! The children here WANT to be at this school! They wake up looking forward to class! Blanton has surpassed our expectations as to what a preschool should be offering our children. We can’t wait for the 2017 year to begin! The first two years have been amazing!

I have lived in three states and three different school districts with my children in public schools and this is the worse school we have experienced. The communication between school and parent is nonexistent. My daughter went through more than a dozen substitute teachers with no word from the school. When I complained about the lack of stability for my daughter they did nothing. She received ungraded homework back, her reading log and homework notebook has not been graded since January (It is now April) yet she got good grades on her report card? This morning was the last straw when I told them she had a doctors appointment and they told me she had testing today. (No information was sent to me concerning this and nothing in the weekly phone call). So I was told that she would have to wait in the office until I picked her up. If I was working, she would have waited 2 and a half hours and they didn’t even care. When I picked her up no adult was in the office. She was unsupervised. Horrible school. We will be moving out of this district in June so my daughter can go to a school that cares. This is her second year here and it is only getting worse.

Great school with very few discipline issues. The teachers are able to focus on teaching and the students are able to focus on learning. As a parent I have no problem signing a daily agenda/homework assignment and attending a monthly PTA meeting. The only issue I have noticed is the quantity of homework. My daughter spends hours every day and a large portion of the weekend completing her homework. I fully understand the need for a regimen of math and possibly science homework but they have an english teacher teacher and a civics teacher that seem to consider themselves as college professors. Putting young students through too much pressure at a young age leaves me concerned about a potential burn out factor before they reach college. I am appreciative of the high standards but I believe there needs to be more consideration for a quality of life balance.

History

In 1950, Charles Oliver Wellington, an accountant from Massachusetts, purchased approximately 18,000 acres (73 km 2 ) of central Palm Beach Bog County located in southern Florida Road 80 (locally known as South Parkway) and west of the United States Route 441. Wellington named the property “Flying Cow Ranch” due to the fact that he worked as an aviator and his initials mean “cow”. The ranch became protected from flooding from the Everglades after the US Army Corps of Engineers built a dam south of the site between 1952 to 1953. After his death in 1959, his son Roger inherited the property. The family sold 1,200 acres (4.9 km 2 ) for $300 an acre to Arthur William “Bink” Glisson, Charles’ agent. Glisson sold the land for $1,000 an acre over the next few months. Many other farmers began buying or leasing parts of the Flying Cow Ranch in the 1960s. History

Siemens AG bought the power unit’s Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1997, but sponsorship of Westinghouse Science Talent Search (now Regeneron Science Talent Search) was not part of the deal. When Siemens lost bid in the Intel competition, Siemens decided to form the Siemens Foundation to continue the tradition using the famous Westinghouse name, naming the new competition Siemens Westinghouse Competition (SWC) and later Siemens Competition. The first awards were presented in 1999. [3]

The competition had the same goals as the old Westinghouse competition, but with a few additional aspects, most notably Team Project Awards and Regional Awards. The Regional Final was hosted in collaboration with six partner universities: MIT, Georgia Institute of Technology, Caltech, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Notre Dame, and Carnegie Mellon University. [4]

2007 was the first year in which women won top prizes in both individual and team Siemens competitions. The individual winner was Isha Jain of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, while the best team winners were Janelle Schlossberger and Amanda Marinoff of Plainview, New York. [5]

The Siemens competition lasted 18 years. On February 1, 2018, the Siemens Foundation announced that the 2017 competition will be the last. [6]

Selection process

Each year, research reports submitted by the late September to early October deadline were subjected to a blind reading. The semi-finalists selected 300 outstanding research reports from over 1,600 papers. All semi-finalists received a special prize, whose names were announced in a full-page USA Today advertisement. [7]

From the semi-finalists, 30 individuals and 30 teams (2-3 students) were selected as regional finalists and invited to compete during November at one of six partner universities (Caltech, Utah Austin , Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, MIT and Ga. Tech). In addition to project content, judging was also based on oral presentation, poster display, cited references, and question and answer sessions. All regional finalists received $1,000 scholarships and bronze medals. One individual and one team from each region advanced to the national final. These regional winners received $3,000 (individual) or $6,000 (team total) scholarships and silver medals.

National finalists (6 individual and 6 team projects) received a fully funded trip the first weekend in December to Washington DC. National championship winners received scholarships ranging from $10,000 to the coveted top prize of $100,000 for top talent and the best. team. [8]
