We accept ELC and VPK Vouchers! Need help registering?

VPK Voucher

Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a free program aimed to prepare four-year-old children for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. VPK is available to all four-year-olds born on or before September 1 who reside in Florida, regardless of family income.

ELC School Readiness Voucher

The School Readiness program is a financial assistance program for working families with low incomes and those with children at risk of abuse, neglect, or future school failure.  What the School Readiness program can do for your family. Supports families in accessing and affording quality child care, helps families become economically self-sufficient. Parents are provided with information on child development and family well-being, involves parents as their child’s first teacher. Children are prepared to enter kindergarten ready to learn, which builds a foundation for success in life.

Speech therapist in kindergarten. An equilateral triangle (speech therapist, teacher, parent) – Kindergarten and child

The triangle is considered one of the most stable geometric shapes. And it is precisely these stability and reliability that become important in the interaction of a speech therapist, educator and parents of the child. A speech therapist in a kindergarten, a teacher and parents are like three sides of a stable triangle, inside which a kindergarten kid has comfortably settled down. And since this triangle is equilateral, the contribution of each side is important and significant.

A child with various speech disorders initially is not in a very advantageous position in relation to others. After all, we learn the world largely through speech. By telling, explaining, asking, the boy or girl learns, develops and grows. And what is left for a child whose speech is not perfect? Playing alone, isolation, the desire to avoid communication. And as a result – problems in mastering the dictionary, building lexical and grammatical structures, in coherent speech. Vicious circle?

No, no… There is a better figure. In this case, the task of the parents, the speech therapist of the kindergarten and the educator is to combine efforts to achieve a common goal – to help the child step into the world of correct, beautiful speech and get used to it as successfully as possible.

Parents, attention!

As a rule, mothers perfectly understand their baby, no matter how badly and slurredly he speaks. But you need to be objective – if up to 3 years old the child does not pronounce syllables, words and short phrases (“mom, give me”), does not follow a simple instruction (bring the ball), does not repeat onomatopoeia (dog – av-av), then this is a reason to think and contact a specialist.

Speech therapy consultations are available at the polyclinic, where several speech therapists work (from an early age to three years and a specialist working with older children). a speech therapist in kindergarten , who conducts a speech therapy examination of all children of the institution, can also consult. At the speech therapy center of the garden, a speech therapist takes children to classes in kindergarten from 6 (less often 5) years. You can also contact specialists in medical or development centers.

Get your way! If suddenly you hear the phrase – “wait, it’s too early to talk about something now”, seek advice from one or more specialists. Don’t be passive and indifferent. The sooner you notice a problem, the easier it will be to fix it.

It is the caregiver who spends most of the time with the child. He hears the speech of the baby, sees the features of his behavior, has the opportunity to compare the sound pronunciation of children. Do not brush it off, they say, “it will pass by itself”… The sooner the child is provided with professional assistance, the less time he will be in a “situation of failure”. But any parent wants only success for his son or daughter, right?

So, the speech disorder was revealed, the diagnosis was made. Speech therapist in kindergarten invites the baby’s parents to an individual conversation or to a general meeting (in a speech therapy kindergarten). Here the two sides get to know each other and ways of further work are outlined. A lot depends on how well-coordinated the interaction will be.

This is your child. And his problems become your common problems.

And do it with the child, not for him. In a notebook, everything can be very correct and accurate, and the kid in the lesson will not be able to answer the teacher’s question. No need to arrange a cult out of the task, be too strict and demanding. Practice casually, in a game, on your way home, in the car, in the bathroom. Such lessons will not strain, which means they will not cause negativity.

  • Work out together.

The child will be more willing to do the exercises with his mother, father, grandfather or grandmother. After all, the company is more fun!

If you do not understand something in the explanations of a specialist, take the time to come to the kindergarten for a consultation. It is better to ask and do the right thing than to correct inaccuracies later.

The child is not always aware of the need for speech therapy. Lack of speech may not significantly interfere with his communication with the children in the group. Why bother with something that isn’t too obvious? Let the kid earn fives or stickers, and by typing some of them and something more valuable – a toy, a gift.

  • Be active.

Participate with your child in the life of a group, garden. You can take part in the competition, make a developing book for an exhibition with your child, crafts for the holiday. Even the usual visit to children’s performances is very important. Children should understand that their loved ones are important successes and achievements of kids.

This type of work allows you to maintain constant contact with a specialist, identify the strengths and weaknesses of the correction process, and control the result.

Now you can find a huge amount of all kinds of developing literature and correctional aids for working with children. Do not buy everything in a row, thoughtlessly and indiscriminately. Talk to your teacher and speech therapist. Specialists will guide you, suggest that book or workbook that will definitely benefit the baby, and not only please you with bright pictures. In some kindergartens you can find special catalogs of educational aids. In these catalogs, as a rule, prices and places of sale are indicated, which will significantly save your time, which can be usefully spent communicating with your child.

It is this form of interaction that allows you to better understand what benefits your child is studying, how he works in class. It will give an opportunity to assess its strengths and weaknesses from the outside.

Read and study materials on various speech disorders and how to overcome them. Only in this way can you become active subjects of the correctional process, assistants to a speech therapist and educator.

Talk, discuss, argue, explain…

Don’t be afraid. “The road will be mastered by the walking one.” And this road will not seem so long and scary if you do not go along it alone.

It is very important when a third party, an educator, joins the speech therapist-parent tandem.

Kindergarten teachers build their lessons in kindergarten, taking into account the topics studied with children by a speech therapist. The main vocabulary work is carried out by a speech therapist, while the teacher forms the necessary level of knowledge on the vocabulary topic in children during walks, in drawing, modeling and construction lessons.

The teacher teaches children to clearly express their requests, desires, answer questions with a beautiful full sentence, and follow various instructions. It is the educator who encourages the children to speak and necessarily encourages the child to take the initiative to speak out, expands the content of the conversation with questions, and creates interest in the topic of conversation among other children.

A speech therapist in kindergarten, together with teachers, works to familiarize children with new words, clarify their meanings and activate the dictionary, selects lexical material for certain topics.

The teacher conducts classes to clarify the movements of the organs of the articulatory apparatus – speech gymnastics for the development of the muscles of the lips and tongue. He tries to correct the incorrect pronunciation of children, since a sufficient level of self-control at this age has not yet been developed. Such work is carried out both directly in speech and on the material of nursery rhymes, tongue twisters, and rhymes specially selected together with a speech therapist.

The teacher prepares holidays in the kindergarten, taking into account the recommendations of the speech therapist on the selection of works for each particular child. If a rhyme learned especially for mom turns out to be difficult or slurred, it will only upset both mother and child. Such situations can be avoided with the help of a correct teacher.

However, at the same time, the educator does not duplicate the work of a speech therapist, but only supplements and deepens it. A speech therapist forms primary speech skills in children with various language disorders, and the educator strengthens them on a daily basis.

And it is the teacher who becomes the link between the kindergarten speech therapist and the children’s parents. Unfortunately, mothers and fathers are not always able to get a consultation with a specialist. And the educator, meeting and seeing off the children, can talk with parents, talk about what has been done, advise what to pay attention to in the near future, convey the recommendations of a speech therapist.

This is such a wonderful triangle! Remove any side from the correction process, and the work will fall apart. Therefore, on the contrary, try to strengthen your stable figure of helping the child, jointly create a single space for his speech development. Only by joining forces can ignorance of the plans and intentions of all three parties be avoided. And this is the only way to grow a harmonious and happy personality from a little restless little rascal.

Parent, Educator, Speech therapist!
The triangle will protect everyone from troubles
Equal-sided stone wall,
And you won’t break them one by one.
They stand as a mountain for the happiness of the baby —
The soul develops in unity!

The author is a speech therapist Evgenia Zaichenko.

Didactic games in mathematics – Kindergarten Smolyanochka

1. Compilation of geometric shapes (for a child of 6 years old)

8. From 9 sticks make 2 squares and 4 equal triangles (from 7 sticks make 2 squares and divide into triangles

2. Compilation of geometric figures (for a child of 5 years old)

Purpose: to exercise in composing geometric figures on the plane of the table, analyzing and examining them in a visually tangible way.0007

Material: counting sticks (15-20 pieces), 2 thick threads (length 25-30 cm)

Tasks:

1. Make a small square and a triangle

2.0 7 small squares

3. Make a rectangle, the upper and lower sides of which will be equal to 3 sticks, and the left and right sides will be equal to 2.

4. Make consecutive figures from threads: a circle and an oval, triangles. Rectangles and quadrilaterals.

3. WITELODS CHARACH (for a child 6 years old)

Purpose: exercise in the ability to perform arithmetic operations

Game course: The adult throws the ball to the child and calls a simple arithmetic, for example 3+2 . The child catches the ball, gives an answer and throws the ball back, etc.

Help Cheburashka find and correct a mistake (for a child of 4 years old)

The child is invited to consider how the geometric shapes are located, in which groups and on what basis they are combined, notice the mistake, correct and explain. The answer is addressed to Cheburashka (or any other toy). The error may be that in the group of squares there may be a triangle, and in the group of blue figures – red.

Only one property (for a child of 5 years old)

Purpose: to consolidate knowledge of the properties of geometric shapes, to develop the ability to quickly select the desired figure, to characterize it.

Game progress: for two players playing a full set of geometric shapes. One puts any piece on the table. The second player must put on the table a piece that differs from it in only one sign. So, if the first one puts a yellow big triangle, then the second puts, for example, a yellow big square or a blue big triangle. The game is built like a domino.

Find and name (for a child of 4 years old)

Purpose: to consolidate the ability to quickly find a geometric figure of a certain size and color.

Game progress: 10-12 geometric figures of different colors and sizes are laid out in disorder on the table in front of the child. The facilitator asks to show various geometric shapes, for example: a large circle, a small blue square, etc.
