I love Toyland Daycare and so does my son Phoenix! I’ve been using them for over a year now and they maintain such a professional, clean, fun and warm environment for my son. They are constantly doing fun activities that my son raves about every time I pick him. Cheryl, the owner is wonderful too! She always texts or calls back promptly and is really great for last minute or emergency drop offs. It’s so nice to have someone that I can count too take of my son other then myself. 5 stars all the way!

This place has been a Godsend! Having raised 2 kids in home I was super apprehensive about daycare at all, but Cheryl immediately made is feel at ease. Being in the service industry my schedule fluctuates and has been crazy. Cheryl has been so accommodating to my life situation and above and beyond to boot. I don’t know what we’d do without her!

What an awesome Daycare with an amazing teacher. Cheryl and Toyland Heaven have been the best thing to happen to my little one and I. As a single mom, I was so nervous to drop him off at a stranger’s place for 8 hours, especially after being home with me for the 1st two years. But from our 1st meeting and walk thru, Cheryl has been an angel and a life saver. My LO warmed up to Cheryl and the other kids quick and the new friendships began. We have now been going to Toyland Heaven for over a year now, and my LO just turned 3. It’s not your regular daycare, it’s BETTER!! My LO knows his colors, has recognition of most letters and numbers, brings home paintings and learning pages almost every day, last week he traced his name and was so proud my LO put in on the fridge. I am so lucky to have found Cheryl and Toyland Heaven.

Choosing a kindergarten | Network of private kindergartens Little country

So, the child grew up and the mother began to think about a kindergarten for her baby. But to whom to entrust your most valuable? And here the choice of a kindergarten is particularly acute. Currently in Russia there are essentially three or four options:
– municipal kindergarten.
Pros: cheap, happens right in the yard (but not a fact), large groups, own fenced area, health worker (sometimes one for several gardens)
Cons: large groups (for example, to Krasnodar up to 60 people on the list per teacher), often unfriendly staff, often get sick, often poor living conditions, not very tasty food, few and broken toys, regular extortions for repairs, toys and so on, poor food, no options for allergy sufferers, inconvenient working hours (up to 17 hours). Additional classes are usually expensive and you have to pay for each sneeze, so there may be a cost of mun. garden plus mugs will be equal to the cost of a small private kindergarten. For example, the kindergartens of our Little Country network have a state license, and therefore are partially subsidized by the state, so the cost is close to the cost of a municipal kindergarten.
– legal private kindergarten with state license ), a control system from Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Emergencies and the Ministry of Education, its own fenced area, well-maintained, safe, video surveillance (often), child insurance, menu options for allergy sufferers, there are transfer options, convenient working hours (often from 7 to 20, from groups on duty, there are options for 5 days), an approved educational program is a guarantee of the quality of the child’s preparation, health worker
Cons: payment is higher than the municipal one, the cost often depends not on costs, but on the status of the kindergarten.
– a private kindergarten operating illegally without a license
Pros: cheaper than a licensed kindergarten playgrounds, discrepancy of square meters for each child, illegally working personnel, without education and medical records and certificates of good conduct, the contract is either not concluded or is concluded for the care and care of children, and not education, often the absence of a health worker
– private children’s center
Pros: not expensive, often good additional services
Cons: is essentially a variant of a garden operating illegally, so the risks are the same.

We figured out the views, chose our own version. What’s next? Then we sign up for a tour and a conversation with the manager.

Why is a private tour better than an open day?
Because, as a rule, excursions are held during working hours, and you can see, feel and smell the life of the kindergarten from the inside. See the staff at work. On the DOD, as a rule, there are staged actions and a certain performance is shown in front of the parents.
So let’s go to the kindergarten. On the way we look:

  • territory – the presence of security, working electric locks, grooming, cleanliness, no smoking employees.
  • near the garden if the children are walking, we look at what they are doing, what the teachers are doing, what condition the walking areas, slides, etc. are in. the presence of covered verandas, as well as the ratio of educators and children.
  • if the children are not walking – we listen – how are the classes going, do the teachers raise their voice?
  • We went to the kindergarten. At the entrance, there must be organizational and legal information about the kindergarten, permits (conclusion of Rospotrebnadzor, Ministry of Emergency Situations, state license for preschool education, internal regulations, menu for the current date with the seal and signature of the head)
  • Each group must have – a separate dressing room (at least 18 sq. m, with separate signed lockers for children), a separate bathroom, a playroom and a bedroom. It is allowed to place beds (roll-out, folding) in the playroom. The playing area, excluding the area occupied by furniture, should be at least 2-2.5 m2 per child according to the payroll (and not by presence). We look at the number of children in the group, conditions, material security of the group. The payroll of the group should be posted in the locker room, bedrooms, bathrooms. By the way, a bathroom should be for each group, at least 16 sq.m, there should be pots (in a manger), children’s toilets with individual seats (at least 4), sinks for the height of children and a washing tray. Towels according to the number of children in the group.
  • When talking with the head – ask for all documents for the kindergarten, look at the personal files of educators – check education, experience, medical books, certificates of good conduct. Ask for a contract form. Find out about the availability and accessibility of video surveillance. Find out if there is insurance for children and at whose expense. Ask how the adjustment is going. It should be smooth. Ideally starting from an hour to a full day within a month.
  • An important aspect is what kind of work schedule educators have. There should be 2 educators and one nanny per group. Teachers must work in shifts. Often one teacher works from morning to evening and every day. This regime is usually maintained for a short time, then there are breakdowns in children, daytime sleep, instead of looking after sleeping children, going to work in a sick state, because. no changer.

The main educational program for the Federal State Educational Standard also includes music lessons and physical education. Clarify whether there is a music hall and a music worker. What instrument are the classes played on (piano classics). Find out if there is a gym, see its dimensions, ventilation, equipment, Ask how many times a week physical education is held outdoors in the fresh air. According to GEF, three classes a week, one on the street.
Additional educational services. Now kindergartens offer a lot of additional classes for every taste, color and budget. It is very good when the kindergarten has a swimming pool. Of the popular and in demand in recent years, one can note: chess, legoconstruction, football, theatrical circle, folklore, yoga, ballroom dancing, etc. A wide range of additional activities is a big plus, because. relieves parents of problems that it is necessary to carry the child after the garden around the city to circles.
Bilingual gardens should be mentioned separately. That is, kindergartens, where, along with the Russian language, children are taught to speak a foreign language. Here it is necessary to pay attention to two aspects: the first – in addition to the language, the child must also learn the program according to the Federal State Educational Standard, respectively, he is taught at least half a day in his native language, the second point – it makes sense to start the now fashionable passion for the language when the baby has already spoken, otherwise children with speech delay development, the early introduction of a second language can cause an even greater delay in speech. It is also necessary to clarify that a teacher who speaks a foreign language has a pedagogical education and can work with children. Often kindergartens invite “native speakers” of the language of foreigners, students, and you will never know what and how he / she tells the child and is generally healthy and whether he has the right to work with children.
And the last moment. Garden adaptation. You must understand that in which kindergarten you would not give your baby – private, municipal, but the first year the child’s body adapts and he will get sick. Yes, maybe in private, where small groups, bactericidal lamps and good ventilation are less common, but it’s better for the mother to not go to work for the first year and be patient so that the child’s immunity adapts to the children’s society.

When it’s time for a child to go to kindergarten | Choosing a garden for a child | Forbes Education

AUTHOR:

Natalie Kaminsky
founder and director of the English kindergarten network MAGIC CASTLE

Every parent wants to make getting used to a preschool educational institution quick and easy, and stay in it quick and easy. Unfortunately, it is impossible to say unequivocally what age is ideal to start visiting the garden. Each child is unique: some easily get used to a new environment in a few days, while others need long-term and thoughtful support from adults.

Most often, children are brought to kindergarten at the age of three or four, but you can start even earlier – at one and a half or two years, when the baby learns to walk. The interval from one and a half to three years is considered optimal, since at an earlier age the child is still not independent enough, and after 3-4 years, integration into a new environment can be complicated by established habits – the older the child, the more difficult it is for him to adjust to a new schedule, get used to the absence of his mother near and new place.

With a professional and attentive attitude, any child can be adapted to kindergarten, regardless of age and personal characteristics. At the same time, parents need to take into account that the adaptation of small and older children will take place in different ways, but in the end, staying in a kindergarten, if professionals work in it, will benefit absolutely everyone.

Age: 1.5–2 years

At one and a half or two years old, children do not seek to communicate with their peers, they perceive them rather as unusual toys. In social terms, at this age, the child is enough of a mother or another person close to him. Nevertheless, parents who send their children to a good kindergarten at an early age immediately notice a rapid leap in development. The child begins to speak faster, his vocabulary expands noticeably, the quality of pronunciation of sounds improves. This is due to the fact that in the garden children hear a lot of music, songs, constantly explore new objects and textures, pour something, pour something, collect, sort, they spend a lot of activities aimed at developing fine motor skills. Motor and tactile activities directly affect intelligence, and the more varied they are, the faster and more noticeable the progress of babies.

At an early age, adaptation to a new language environment is very easy: children do not feel discomfort if they hear an unfamiliar language, they quickly merge into a new context and begin, like a sponge, to absorb sounds, words, intonations. This is the optimal age if you want to send your child to an English (or any foreign language) kindergarten. Toddlers in a bilingual environment naturally develop native language skills. By the way, the opinion that learning a second language from early childhood can have a bad effect on the development of speech in the native language is nothing more than a myth. Over the past hundred years, scientists, educators and linguists have done a lot of research on this topic and agreed that a bilingual environment does not impair the quality of native language proficiency. Conversely, people who have spoken multiple languages since childhood show higher scores on cognitive tests.

Age: 3-4 years

By about three years of age, a child develops conscious desires and need for communication with peers. At this time, the kindergarten becomes the optimal developmental environment and allows you to realize the need for social, creative and motor activities, and natural curiosity helps to adapt to changes quite easily. Here, children regularly engage in various types of creativity: sculpt, draw, design, get the opportunity to direct their energy to sports and dance, get acquainted with music and art, and broaden their general horizons. In addition, in the garden, the child actively learns social skills and develops emotional intelligence.

5 social skills kindergarten helps to develop:

Teamwork
Examples: playing together, negotiating, finding compromise solutions, overcoming conflicts, making new friends rules of etiquette – learning not to interrupt, offer help when appropriate, say hello, say goodbye, etc.

Self-control
Examples: explain one’s position, express emotions in an acceptable way, gradually understanding a sense of proportion in defending one’s point of view

Empathy
Examples: recognizing the emotions of others, empathizing with other people, supporting and helping

Respect for personal boundaries
Examples: respecting the privacy of others – waiting in line, not taking other people’s toys without permission, etc.

By the age of three, children already speak their native language quite well, which becomes their main language. As a result, a foreign language may cause them resistance and misunderstanding, and adaptation to the English-speaking environment will require more attention from the kindergarten staff. As a rule, in bilingual kindergartens, young students are initially accompanied by a Russian-speaking assistant who provides the necessary support.

When planning the start of kindergarten, among other things, it is important to bear in mind that between 2.5 and 3.5 years old children often experience a crisis of “three years”. At this time, adjustment is more difficult, as the child is under severe stress, and additional excitement associated with the new environment can complicate the situation.

Age: 5-6 years

In preschool age, children experience an acute need for communication, it is important for them to form friendly relations with peers. On the one hand, by the age of five, children become more conscious, it is easier to establish contact with them, they understand the arguments and are ready to compromise. On the other hand, at this age, as a rule, it is more difficult for them to fit into the team, their social skills are less developed than those who started going to kindergarten earlier: they are not used to noise, they are often shy, it is difficult for them to build communication with classmates. Having started visiting the garden, five-six-year-olds quickly catch up, but at first they need a lot of attention from adults who accompany the adaptation process.

If a child moves from another kindergarten where he still has friends and affections, the main task of teachers and educators is to make sure that the little student joins the group and finds new friends. It is important to explain why it was necessary to change the kindergarten, to give strong arguments, to speak out the situation (more than once).

Regardless of age, it is better to start visiting the garden from May to September, since the period from October to April is considered the season of high incidence and the likelihood that the baby will get sick during the adaptation period increases markedly.

Regardless of age, it is better to start visiting the kindergarten from May to September, since the period from October to April is considered the season of high incidence and the likelihood that the baby will get sick during the adaptation period increases noticeably.

From the point of view of science, attending kindergarten is definitely beneficial for the full and comprehensive development of the child. The main thing is not to make a mistake with the choice of a preschool educational institution and find one in which the issue of adaptation is treated carefully and professionally.

A special project created with the support of experts from the Magic Castle network of English kindergartens.

For more than 10 years, Magic Castle has been one of the leading international schools in Moscow. Education in an English kindergarten begins at the age of 1.5 and continues in a British school for children from 5 to 18 years old. Magic Castle students have the opportunity to choose from more than 30 sports, creative, intellectual activities.

Magic Castle has Teddy Bear Club, an English club for children from 6 months to 2 years old, where the child begins to get acquainted with the English language during classes with parents.

Graduates of the English Magic Castle Kindergarten can easily enter the British MCS School, which is part of the MC Education educational group, or other Russian or international schools.
