AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Timber Forest KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
Participating Child Care Aware Center
KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.
Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.
Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!
A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH
An Artist’s Heart
“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.
We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.
Family Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!
-
We are so glad to have both of our grandkids attending the Timber Forest KinderCare. The staff here is awesome! We have been with KinderCare for almost a year now and the boys have grown so much. When they first started, they did not know colors, numbers, letters, how to share, take turns, ride a tricycle, play games, or work puzzles–but since they have been at KinderCare, they have learned all this and more! The staff at Timber Forest KinderCare work with the parents to reinforce learning and growth. We feel that every child who walks through the doors of KinderCare is treated as an individual and is treated as part of a team of friends from all walks of life. We have yet to see any child mistreated, judged, or singled out for any reason (other than for praise). And praising a child not only builds self-confidence and well-being, but also a sense of belonging, and KinderCare has more than shown this through our boys. KinderCare has welcomed us as a family into their family, and the boys are always eager to go to school every morning! Thank you, to all the hard-working Teachers, for all you do for our kids!

- Welcome to Timber Forest KinderCare. We are very excited to meet
with you and your family. We believe in developing the whole child
with an emphasis on assisting your child’s growth in the areas of
social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Here at
KinderCare, we believe it takes a village to raise a child and our
parents consider us to be an extension of their families. In
addition to a safe, secure and stimulating environment for your
child to grow up in, you will have support from a team of child
development experts who have a true passion for educating and
nurturing children. - Our top priority at KinderCare is to provide a safe and healthy
environment for our children, families and staff. We do this
through rigorous training and constant assessment and evaluation of
proper policies and procedures. Your child’s security begins at the
front door, literally. We have a locked security entrance that
requires a numeric code to enter. All side doors are kept locked to
ensure the security of the exterior of the building. All guests or
emergency pick up people are identified and escorted through the
building. Of course, our teachers have all cleared local, state and
federal background checks, including fingerprinting. We are trained
in infant and child CPR and First Aid. We do routine fire, storm
and lock-down drills to prepare for the unexpected. Throughout the
day, your child will be supervised at all times. No child is ever
left unattended, even for a minute. Teachers have all been trained
in supervision, discipline and guidance, and developmentally
appropriate practices to ensure they understand the risks
associated with the children in their care. If your child has food
allergies or specific medical conditions, we will work with you to
ensure your child’s well-being while in our care. We also take the
responsibility of your child’s emotional security very seriously.

Waldkindergarten, Sandhausen, Germany – Kindergarten.
..IN THE FOREST! There is no such thing in Russia!”
Do you remember when you were a child and went to kindergarten? What was he like? With whom and what did you play there?
I think everyone is now plunged into memories. Today I want to tell you about a very unusual place – forest kindergarten (Waldkindergarten) , which is located in Germany. I can imagine what bewilderment is in your head right now:
YOU MEAN IN THE FOREST?
HOW IS IT?
WHAT IS IT?
There is no such thing in the Russian Federation, but in Germany a similar garden is a common thing. There are not 1 or 2 such preschool institutions, but more, and they are different in each land. This is a garden without a room, walls and ceiling in the open air. Children go there almost all year round, regardless of the weather.
Teachers and children spend most of their time outdoors, usually in the forest. A distinctive feature of forest kindergartens is that games and entertainment are built around natural objects (trees, slides, reservoirs). Children play with cones, sticks, bird feathers, water and clay, not factory-made toys. Despite these differences, forest kindergartens solve the same tasks as other preschool educational institutions, namely, they take care of the kids, educate them and stimulate their development. Forest kindergartens differ from each other because they are mostly organized by independent communities and stand apart from the formal system of preschool education.
Children can get here 3-6 years old . They don’t take younger children, because it will be difficult for a child without self-service skills (eating, washing hands, going to the toilet).
In Germany there are few ordinary gardens and it is very difficult to get into them. Sometimes, out of hopelessness, parents send their children to forest gardens, which are private.
Here is one of the Waldkindergarten in Sandhausen :
Input :
All photos were taken in the evening when the children and caregivers left.
The territory of the kindergarten does not have clear boundaries as such, because there is forest everywhere ?
In the gazebo children play with sticks, cones
Breakfast and lunch, board games, drawing and other creative activities take place on these benches:
On the stumps, teachers with children tell fairy tales and life stories, learn poetry, play memory games:
They collect sticks, cones, grass, leaves and make pictures and crafts from them
In case of rain, there is a house-wagon in which there are tables and chairs . There are no beds because there is no nap hour in this garden.
There are, of course, very few places. But even groups of children are small – up to 10 people, so everyone will fit.
Outdoor toilet. Alas, unheated:
“Sink” is also peculiar )) to wash your hands you will have to make an effort and pump water from the pump:
✅ Advantages of the forest kindergarten:
- Children (compared to others) stay alone with nature longer. Breathe fresh air , and this is important for health.
- Enjoy beautiful views :
- Great opportunity for hardening child
- Plays are played with natural objects (cones, sticks, leaves, grass) and not with gadgets or store-bought toys. I think it’s wonderful! And it is impossible to look at some children “zombified” by phones. I have nothing against shop toys, but I judge by myself – I don’t remember a single toy from childhood, but I remember how they played “shop”, exchanging leaves instead of money, and it was everyone’s favorite game in the yard.
- Educators are engaged in educational games , and in the open air development is faster
- Children are taught to navigate by natural objects, and they will definitely not get lost in the forest.
- Toddlers can climb trees increasing endurance and strength, but this leads to one minus about him below) the forest is very unusual! The child will then have something to remember.
✘ Disadvantages Especially in the rain
Oh, you dirty girl, where did you get your hands so dirty? Black palms; on the elbows – paths. Oh, you grimy girl, where did you smear your nose like that? The tip of the nose is black, as if smoked. Oh, you dirty girl, you smeared your legs in stripes, not a girl, but a zebra, legs like a Negro. Approximately in this state the child comes ? so you can’t go anywhere without a stain remover. Only by bike.
The forest kindergarten is a great alternative to the usual one. Here, a child can learn skills that will not be taught anywhere else, enjoy the beauty of nature, breathe fresh air. Would you give your kinder to a similar kindergarten if possible?
Thank you for your attention to my review? Was Frau_Kritik with you?

frequently asked questions
Here we have collected answers to your most frequently asked questions. If you still have any additional questions, please write to us!
During the day, your baby will be surrounded by love and care of our assistants and educators (higher pedagogical education and work experience of 5 years). In our kindergarten, experienced teachers work with children – a speech therapist, a psychologist, a music worker, teachers of English, children’s yoga and robotics, and an experienced medical worker monitors health.
In our kindergarten, developing classes are held in accordance with the program “Lomonosov School” edited by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Ziganov M.A. This program is aimed at creating favorable conditions for the comprehensive development of the child’s personality, his mental and physical qualities.
Artistic activity includes familiarity with non-traditional techniques: drawing with fingers, stamps, monotype, scratching, blotography, origami, plastinography, three-dimensional appliqué.
In speech development classes, children are taught to retell, compose stories, memorize poems. The classes include articulation, lexical and grammatical exercises that help improve the speech apparatus and enrich the child’s vocabulary.
Cognitive knowledge about the world around children receive in the classroom the world around them and the world of nature.
Entertaining mathematics includes tasks that introduce you to quantity and counting, geometric shapes, comparison of values, spatial orientations.
Theatrical activities are aimed at developing children’s creativity, imagination, speech development, and communication skills.
Music includes the development of musical abilities, the development of emotional-figurative perception through the works of folk, classical and modern music.
Physical culture and health work in our kindergarten is given increased attention, because a significant part of the children have health problems. Therefore, regular exercise strengthens the body and improves immunity.
English language training starts at the age of 3 and takes place daily.
Every parent wants their child to speak correctly and clearly. For this purpose, classes and consultations of a professional speech therapist are carried out in our center.
If you need a correction of the child’s behavior or the development of his mental processes, you need the help of a psychologist. In our center, a psychologist works in the following areas:
– Children’s individual counseling;
-Psychological correction of children’s personality disorders, such as aggression, isolation, capriciousness, fears, anxiety, etc.;
– Assistance to children and parents in the adaptation of the child in kindergarten;
– Developmental classes, both individual (game therapy, art therapy, sand therapy), and group classes (trainings for children). These are classes for the development of memory, thinking, attention, etc. ;
-Individual psychological diagnosis of the child’s personality, the level of mental processes, as well as the level of readiness for school;
– Counseling parents on the upbringing and development of children.
The adaptation program developed by our methodologist guarantees already during the first week of the visit – your child comes with pleasure and does not want to leave! Additional attention of teachers, a flexible schedule of visits, the possibility of participation of parents at the first stage of adaptation, great experience of teachers, participation in the process of a psychologist, the chamber atmosphere of the kindergarten allows us to assert that the adaptation will take place quickly, gently, without tears. The presence of cameras in the kindergarten allows online (in real time) see the child and control the adaptation.
Preventive work carried out by an experienced medical worker, small groups (up to 8 people), regular ventilation of rooms, air disinfection with desar (an ultraviolet bactericidal irradiator of a closed type that prevents the spread of infections transmitted by airborne droplets: influenza, SARS), proper nutrition, professionally organized walks help maintain a healthy atmosphere in our gardens. According to statistics, the incidence in our kindergarten is 50-60% lower than in state preschools.
We have a comprehensive English program. This means that we are not limited to official classes. After all, we work with children, and they learn the world through play and socialization. A foreign language is a great way to practice these two skills.
English classes are held every day, where children learn the alphabet, simple words and numbers in a playful way. In the afternoon we try to talk with the older group mainly in English. We also organize matinees and themed evenings with older children.
And we also have a native speaker, through whom children learn the correct pronunciation, polish their accent and completely immerse themselves in the language environment. Children like it, they want to imitate and enjoy communicating with a person of a different culture. It is children who teach us to be open.

year in a forest kindergarten in the Czech Republic
Dolgora Ayusheeva from sunny Buryatia, near Lake Baikal, always wanted to explore new countries and get involved in different adventures, so she went to the Czech Republic under the European Volunteer Service program and spent a year working in the forest kindergarten. She talks about her experience for 34travel.
Project search
One day I heard about the EBU program where you can go to Europe for free and work as a volunteer. When searching for my project, I focused on a topic related to children, since I already had experience working in a kindergarten in Turkey and a Montessori school in Russia. After a long search, my choice fell on an unusual project – work in the forest kindergarten “Shishka”, in the city of Brno in the southeast of the Czech Republic.
Forest kindergartens
Forest kindergartens are popular in Europe, especially in Scandinavian countries and Germany. The first forest garden was created by Ella Flato in the 50s in Denmark. It all started with the fact that she walked in the forest every day with her and the neighbor’s children. This format of pre-school education found support from parents – so the idea arose to establish a forest kindergarten.
Forest Kindergarten is a preschool without walls and ceilings, where children spend most of their time in nature. Every day, children walk in the fresh air and explore the forest, study and play outside the stuffy walls of the classroom. Instead of factory-made toys, they have an incentive to fantasize, playing with what can be found in the forest. Children have fun building tips in the forest from sticks and logs found around, collecting cones and mushrooms, climbing a rope, swinging on a broken tree, sledding in winter and just playing among themselves.
“Bump”
Our garden was located next to the forest, where we went for a walk every day in any weather. This forest is a protected area within the city, where you can easily meet deer, mouflon and wild boar in a comfortable habitat for them.
Garbage is sorted here, apple and cherry trees grow in the garden, there is a composting toilet. On the territory of “Shishka” there is a canopy and a real Mongolian yurt, in which you can hide from the cold and rain. Under a canopy in the warm season, we dined, and in the yurt we rested and warmed up after walks. In the summer, Siska is very cool, we often went there with other volunteers to spend the night, sat around the fire, drank Moravian wine and looked at the starry sky.
The motto of “Shishki” is “There is no bad weather, there are bad clothes.” In winter, it was difficult for me to cope with the cold, which surprised those around me, since I come from Siberia. While the children were running without hats and with open jackets, I was wrapped like a cabbage in several layers of clothes. The cold did not frighten the children, they were looking forward to the moment when they could already run outside and go sledding, while the adults were reluctant to leave the warm yurt. I remember our childhood, when, during frosts at -36, classes at school were canceled and we joyfully ran to play in the yard.
“In winter, it was difficult for me to cope with the cold, which surprised others, since I come from Siberia”
There is a liberal atmosphere in “Shishka”, where children are allowed to do a lot, and adults only make sure that it is within the limits of safety. Here, children can hammer nails, saw boards, and work with a knife. At first, I was shocked by how calmly teachers react to the fact that children climb high on trees or jump in a muddy puddle without fear of getting dirty. My well-established traditional understanding of parenting and attitudes towards children was shaken after this experience. Children in the Forest Kindergarten get something that many modern urban children are sure to lack – space to play outside the home and a connection with nature.
“At first I was shocked by how calmly teachers react to the fact that children climb high on trees or jump in a muddy puddle”
Walking in the forest throughout the year, I learned almost every path and definitely strengthened my immunity by constantly being in the fresh air. My duties included helping local teachers in the work process, accompanying children during walks, helping in changing clothes, and playing games with children. In the morning we sat on the stumps in a circle around the fire, where we had conversations with the children on various topics. We discussed nature, seasons, national Czech holidays and traditions. Then we went for a walk in the forest in any weather. There we played with children, watched nature and animals. “Shishka” has its own rituals. So, before a walk and dinner, we held hands and said special rhymes, and when we returned after a walk, we passed the ladle around in a circle and everyone said what he liked that day.
Each child in the kindergarten has their own backpack, raincoat, thermos and lunch box with a snack. It happened that we went far, lingering in the forest longer than planned. During the walk, we often stopped for “svachina”, which means a snack. This is probably one of the first Czech words that I learned at the very beginning of the work, because hungry children constantly asked, “Is the match soon?”.
Lunch in the garden is imported, because according to the law, forest gardens are not allowed to cook food on their territory. In “Shishka” there is a kitchen, which has a gas stove, on which we heated food. Once a week I was responsible for serving dinner and washing dishes. In winter, it was very crowded in the yurt, because in the cold we had to dine inside, after which the younger children stayed there to rest, while the older ones studied. In summer, during quiet hours, we lay on rugs in the garden, hiding from the sun under the shady branches of apple and cherry trees.
In addition to all kinds of activities in the kindergarten, we went with the children to the city to museums, theatre, science amusement park, planetarium, jungle park. The advantage of working in a kindergarten is the opportunity to visit all these cool places for free. It was more difficult to control children during forays into the city than in the forest. They became kind of wild and really behaved as befits those who just “came out of the forest.”
I fell in love with this alternative format of preschool education, because a childhood spent close to nature, outside the walls of a stuffy classroom and away from gadgets and TV is the best thing a child can offer.
Difficulties
From the very beginning, my Spanish partner and I had the task of establishing contact with children who do not speak English. My partner was initially helped by universal body language and charisma. Of course, I had an advantage, since Russian and Czech are Slavic languages and you can understand or at least guess something from the conversations. Due to the urgent need to communicate with children in kindergarten and feel comfortable, now I can perfectly understand and speak Czech at a basic level. Children are good teachers, you do not hesitate to talk to them, and in general you have no other choice.
Luzhanki
The Luzhanki organization, which coordinated my volunteering, is the largest leisure center in the city. The main branch is located in the city center, in a beautiful old building surrounded by a large park.
We were 14 volunteers, we worked in different departments of the organization: a circus studio, a media club, an art circle, ecological centers, a museum of Romani culture, a theater group and a forest kindergarten. During the year, volunteers with the support of the organization held various events – exhibitions, discussion clubs, film screenings, foreign language lessons, cooking classes. Each of us had to hold our own national evening, where we represented the culture and food of our country. It was great to learn about any country not ordinary facts, but to listen to live first-hand stories, as well as taste national food. I spent my evening at Shishka, fed foreigners with pies, vinaigrette and Buryat buuzes (in the vegetarian version) and talked about the cultural codes of Russia – gopniks and grandmothers, carpets and benches, Russian superstitions, as well as about Baikal, the Trans-Siberian Railway and Buddhism in Russia.
Luzhanki organizes corporate trips where volunteers are also invited. In the summer we went to conquer the highest point in the Czech Republic, Mount Sněžka, 1603 m. We spent three days away from the city, walking around the foggy district, where sheep and llamas graze in green fields. While climbing the peak, we unexpectedly crossed the Czech-Polish border and when we stopped at a local bar, prices were indicated there in zlotys, and the signs were in Polish.
“We spent three days away from the city, walking in a foggy district where sheep and llamas graze in green fields”
Personal project
In addition to our main work, each of the volunteers had to carry out a personal project. It could be anything. A French woman did a workshop on working with a video editor and recording a podcast, a Spaniard gave Spanish lessons and hosted evenings of Spanish culture, a Croatian held an exhibition of her ceramics, a Ukrainian led a conversation club about budget travel. I also recorded a video interview with volunteers about our life in Brno for my YouTube channel Banana Talk.
But the Dutch woman had the craziest project. She intended to break the Guinness World Record and build the tallest pancake tower. As a result of our crazy event, more than 300 pancakes were baked. We tried to keep them in a standing position, but our meter-long pancake tower treacherously staggered and resembled Pisa. In general, the record was not broken, but the adventure was worth it. The whole chaos of the event was reminiscent of a film with suspense elements, where you wait with bated breath for the next plot twist, and a ridiculous sitcom, with applause and laughter off-screen. We then distributed all the pancakes in the park to passers-by and homeless people. So this seemingly stupid undertaking was charitable in nature.
Multi-stumps
I remember watching Cédric Klapisch’s film The Spanish Flu and that was the first time I heard about the Erasmus program. In the film, a multicultural group of Erasmus students live together in an apartment and have fun in Barcelona. I liked this atmosphere of freedom and openness between people of different nationalities so much that I had the thought “I want the same”. After my EBU year, looking back and remembering my volunteer days, I understand that this is how it happened to me.
My year passed in a similar international atmosphere of recklessness and fun. There were 14 people in our volunteer party from different parts of Europe and beyond. Germany, France, Spain, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Netherlands. A stormy mix of nationalities and cultures, different ages and food preferences. It was interesting to notice the differences between our mentalities. And it all starts with breakfast. The French and Spaniards love sweet toast with jam and coffee, while we like to eat something salty and hearty and drink tea. My Spanish neighbor could not live without olive oil and tortilla. The Frenchwoman believed that Czech pancakes were some kind of ugly brothers of the thinnest French crepes. The Dutch woman did not care about cooking, often bought frozen pizza and made burritos in haste. In principle, I am very adaptable to local cuisine, wherever I am, but no one has canceled my love for porridge, strange Russian salads and tea.
Apart from food, there were other differences in our perception of the realities around us. For example, Czech style. The Spaniard and the French categorically reject the combination of socks and sandals. I believe that regardless of style, the main thing is to be warm. Speaking of warmth, I can’t count how many times I answered the question “How do you survive there in Siberia?”. Usually I say that we don’t go out, we drink tea at home, and if we have to, we just run from stop to stop. After all, a real Siberian is not one who is not afraid of the cold, but one who dresses warmly. In fact, people from Siberia are terrible colds – we came up with the trend of layering (breeches and tights).
I was very lucky with my neighbors, with whom we had fun and implemented all sorts of crazy ideas. We lived in a private house with a spacious terrace, in a quiet eco-friendly area of Kogotovice, which is located next to the forest. Our life together was like a sitcom, in every episode of which some kind of game was going on. Four volunteers living under one roof: a Frenchwoman, a Spaniard, a Dutchwoman and an Asian girl from distant Siberia. Together we hosted parties in our house, which we affectionately named “Terassa Palacio”, hitchhiked around Slovenia, recorded a rap video dedicated to our favorite neighborhood, hit discos in Brno, and almost broke the Guinness record for the tallest pancake tower.
About the Czech mentality
The Czechs share two curious traits of national character: a love of beer and a love of outdoor activities. With beer, of course, it is really cheap and tasty here. Drinking beer during lunch is not a sign of alcoholism here, and meeting friends in a pub is an everyday thing. In the evenings with volunteers, we often went to pubs, even our meetings with the coordinator in the summer were smoothly transferred there from the stuffy office.
Do you have to somehow keep your growing beer belly in check? This is done through walks, hikes and other outdoor activities. If you look at how people here dress, you can see that most people prefer sportswear, backpacks and comfortable boots. Practicality is more important than aesthetics. You can often see people walking down the street barefoot or in special “barefoot shoes” that look like thickened socks with separate toes. On the border of the Czech Republic and Austria, there is even a special barefoot trail 5 km long, where different natural surfaces alternate – sand, stones, bark, moss.
There are many cyclists among the Czechs, and the country has excellent conditions for them. Czechs love to spend time in nature, and domestic tourism is popular in the country. Children from a young age go hiking with their parents to nature, they even take babies. The Czech Republic is a country of dog lovers, and the majority of people here are not homebodies at all.
The Czech forests are easy to navigate and impossible to get lost if you follow the marks on the trees and follow a certain path. Many Czechs know how to ski since childhood and go to the mountains every winter. And in the summer they go kayaking down the river. We also tasted this Czech lifestyle with our volunteer company. We went kayaking for three days, lived in a campsite, consulted along the Berounka River. It is not as popular as the Vltava, and we were almost the only foreigners in the area. For those new to kayaking like me, this was the perfect route. The water level in the river left much to be desired (in some places we even had to drag a kayak), and in general our rafting went at a calm pace. We observed picturesque views of the Czech province around, met beavers and nutrias, storks, swans and ducks along the way. It was like watching National Geographic live.
About Brno
I really like this city, its calm rhythm and pleasant atmosphere. There are many young people, foreigners here, many different events take place, and the city itself is not occupied by tourists, like Prague. When I was choosing a project, its location was very important to me. There is always something to do in Brno, with whom to communicate and how to have fun. During the EBU-year, I attended free Czech courses for foreigners (in addition to my lessons in the organization), an improvisation class in the theater and classes in ceramics.
Brno has an excellent transport system, buses run around the clock. In one year, I have never used a taxi, night buses depart from the main station every half an hour. There are many vegan and vegetarian cafes in the city, which greatly facilitated my transition to vegetarianism.
Results of the year
Living in the Czech Republic taught me to be more environmentally conscious. I started to get interested in this topic, sorting garbage, using canvas bags instead of plastic bags, buying less clothes in mass markets and became a fan of second-hand stores. A year of communicating with many people of different nationalities taught me to be more tolerant towards others and to accept myself. In Europe, the attitude of people captivates me: they don’t care how you look, what your orientation is and what kind of food you eat. And thanks to the EBU, I made many European friends, started learning another foreign language, got acquainted with the concept of forest kindergarten and fell in love with this approach.

About us 9000
kindergarten MONTESTORY are selected by parents who may allow themselves – who may allow themselves – who can afford to allow themselves – give your child the best.
We have the cleanest air
Montestory Kindergarten is located on the edge of a pine forest. It is easy to breathe here at any time of the year. We created a playground for active games and a children’s rope park right on a forest glade – birds always sing beautifully here and pines smell incredibly. We walk with children twice a day in any weather. In winter, centuries-old trees cover the site from the wind, and in summer, when it is stuffy in the city, it is fresh and cool here.
Each child is a personality with us
Montestory Kindergarten develops children according to the international methodology of Maria Montessori. At its core is freedom of choice. Everything in the classroom – books and cubes, three-dimensional numbers and letters, colored pencils and geometric shapes – is freely available for every kid. The teacher teaches how to use the material, and the child decides what and when he will do. Only in this way can he learn to be independent, make decisions and be responsible for the result.
We have our own chef and mini-farm
Montestory Kindergarten is designed so that the child learns the world easily and with pleasure. We have our own orchard, vegetable garden and even a small farm – rabbits and chickens. Our children’s favorite morning game is to find an egg on the perch and cook an omelette for breakfast together with adults. And also pick a poured apple from a branch, collect the reddest tomatoes in the garden, or remove a ripe sweet gooseberry from a bush.
We swim and speak three languages
Our teachers are native speakers of English, Russian and Ukrainian. On a walk, during games and classes, children always hear three languages, and as experience shows, after a few weeks they perfectly understand all the teachers. We also have our own, large indoor pool, and swimming lessons are conducted by a professional trainer.
We feel at home
Montestory Kindergarten is located in a large, modern private house. Nothing, even remotely, here resembles a “state institution”. Spacious rooms and classrooms, panoramic windows overlooking the forest, new eco-friendly furniture for kids, a private pool, a children’s library and a real home theater. Parents share: children ask to be taken to our garden even on weekends.

Kindergartens in Finland – This is Finland
Unlike secondary and higher education, pre-school education in Finland is paid. Parents themselves choose where to send their child – to a municipal, private or family kindergarten. It is interesting that the payment is the same everywhere and does not depend on the prestige of the preschool institution, but on the income of the family.
Are there places in the garden?
Finnish kindergartens accept children from 9 months of age to 7-8 years of age. When a parent decides to go to work after the decree, the state, by law, provides his baby with a place in kindergarten.
But sometimes, as in Russia, there is “tension” with places in the garden. This situation is found in large cities – Helsinki, Tampere or Turku. Then the local municipal authorities seek to provide a place in one of the kindergartens of the municipality, taking into account transport links.

Depending on the region, kindergartens are open from about 6 am to 5. 30 pm. But there are options for visiting the kindergarten for a part-time, and sometimes just for a couple of hours. It all depends on which kindergarten the child goes to. For parents working in shifts, special gardens are provided at night and on weekends.
Payment for visiting the kindergarten depends on the income of the family. For example, if the family income is high, then the parents pay from their own pocket no more than 288 euros per month. If the family has low incomes, then this amount is correspondingly less. The minimum fee for a kindergarten for low-income families is 27 euros per month.
There is no bad weather in Suomi
According to the law, there are 4 children per kindergarten teacher. The picture, when 20 children play on the street, and 3-4 educators walk between them, is a common thing. At the age of 6, preschool children are prepared for school free of charge.
Various trips with children are mandatory in Finland. Either they go to the forest, admire nature, or they go to the library to look through and read fairy tales. Then they put on reflective vests and put them in pairs: the children are terribly happy.
Another peculiarity of the Finnish pre-school education system has to do with the weather. “There is no bad weather – there is inappropriate clothing,” says the motto of kindergartens. And this means that Finnish children are walking on the street even in bad weather: whether it is pouring rain or frost. In autumn and spring, children wear waterproof jackets and pants. In winter, they dress up in woolen helmets and warm Finnish overalls. Finland is a northern country, which means that the younger generation is tempered and accustomed to the harsh Finnish nature from childhood.
Private kindergarten
Permission to open a private kindergarten is given by local municipalities, which subsequently monitor their activities. For example, in the city of Kouvola, for almost 28 years, a private garden of Waldorf pedagogy has been operating, created by an initiative group of followers of the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and approved by the local authorities.
“Now about 30 children attend our kindergarten,” says pre-school teacher and director of Rassvet Preschool Pia Malminen .
“It is important for us to create a warm atmosphere in which the child feels protected, calm and confident. This has a regular weekly schedule. On Mondays, children go to the forest, on Tuesday they bake bread, on Wednesday they draw, on Thursday they paint, and on Friday they sculpt or watch a puppet theater fairy tale. In addition, parents are involved in the activities of the kindergarten. They are repairing the playground with their own efforts, washing common linen in turn and taking an active part in preparing holidays for children.”
From time to time representatives of the social services of the city check the activities of private kindergartens and give advice on how to improve their work.

The family kindergarten system is very popular in Finland, and the position of “home mother”, i.e. educators are honorable. Very often, children who attended such a kindergarten send greeting cards to their “second mother” throughout their lives.
“I am a nursing assistant by training,” says 43-year-old Gunilla Simons . “In our municipality there were not enough places for children. I was offered to organize a family kindergarten. I agreed because this job was very suitable for me: my son was in elementary school and came home from school early. Now more than ten years have passed, and during the day we still have a lot of children with whom both the son and the husband play.
By law, one “home mom” can only look after four children. There may be more of them in such a garden (as a rule, it is a spacious own house), but then the kids are brought in turn. At the same time, the children of the “home mother” cannot be pupils of the kindergarten.
Family kindergarten is almost like home. For example, one ward of Gunilla stubbornly did not want to come to the garden without her cat. The issue was resolved simply: the teacher allowed the girl to bring her pet to her. In addition, the children not only play, but also help the “home mom” a little: everyone takes out the trash together, kneads the dough or peels the potatoes. In such a garden there is no rigid schedule, which is very convenient for parents.
“My pupils are my neighbors and often call me aunt,” says Gunilla. “Some are brought in early in the morning, and then these kids can calmly “sleep” on the couch until the other guys come. Often parents call and say that they will be late, and then the child stays with me until late in the evening. And sometimes the children even spend the night with me if the parents need to leave somewhere. ”
Parents pay for attendance at the family kindergarten to the municipality, which, in turn, pays the salary of the “home mother”. A part of this money is used to equip a playground, buy toys and food for kids.

Forest kindergarten or nature kindergarten in German
- Material information
- Published: 23.08.2014, 23:26
Kindergarten is our most first is a serious institution, from which, as in general and from our home, our personal structure begins and the laying of the first lines of future behavior.
Forest Kindergarten or Nature Kindergarten is a form of Kindergarten that originated in Scandinavia and became very popular in Germany. In such a kindergarten there are children aged 3 to 6 years old, where they are brought up and taught the basics of the life path outside the solid walls of buildings , and in free space – most often – in the forest .
How the first forest gardens appeared
Back in the 1950s, there lived a woman in Denmark, a mother who often took her and her neighbor’s children for a walk in the forest. Over time, the woman noticed that the forest and nature in general arouse genuine interest in children : children open up, communicate openly and naturally, feel free in the forest. Parents were inspired by the favorable influence of nature on their children and organized on their own initiative is the very first forest kindergarten.
The first forest kindergarten in Germany was founded in 1968 in Wiesbaden. Its founder, Ursula Zube, organized this forest kindergarten on her own initiative – without official permission (meaning this particular form of kindergarten). In those distant years, such kindergartens were a curiosity, , but by 1990, natural forest kindergartens began to increasingly enter the life of the German people. And at 1993 year the first official forest kindergarten in Flensburg was opened.
As of December 2012, there were about 1000 forest kindergartens in Germany, 25 in Austria, and 12 in Switzerland. where children take care of animals every day.
Conditions in the forest kindergarten
The forest kindergarten is often referred to as a “kindergarten without a roof and walls” or “open-air kindergarten”.
The essential difference from ordinary kindergartens is that children and teachers spend almost all the time outside the buildings : in the meadow, in the forest, on the beach or in the gardens. This happens in any weather! And only extreme weather conditions, when a confident stay in the open air is impossible, force kindergarten children to go to forest hut or to a heated residential van.
This is what an ordinary Kindergarten Van looks like in nature.
Or so
How do you like this winter version of the kindergarten van?
In the forest kindergarten, children do not play with standard toys, but they play with natural objects that they find in the forest and its surroundings. In one group of a forest kindergarten, usually bring up from 15 to 20 children and 2 educators for them. That is, practically, as in an ordinary German kindergarten.
Russian mothers may be surprised: how is it – when and where do children learn to write and count? Forget! Children in German kindergartens do not learn to write and count , so there is nothing illegal in the fact that a child spends all the time on the street, and not at a desk.
The influence of the forest kindergarten on the child
Daily exposure to free nature supports the positive development of the child:
- development of children’s motor skills and perception0011 ,
- gross motor skills and fine motor skills are honed,
- coordination ,
- tactile sensation
- deep sensitivity develops
Children from the forest kindergarten have stable health – they get colds and get sick less often, they also fall more confidently and are less likely to get into emergency situations.
Since most forest kindergartens are conceptual do not use ordinary toys with a “prescribed” meaning, and children play only with natural objects, this has a positive effect on children’s speech development .
Here, for example, such mosaics made of natural material are made by children in natural kindergartens:
In a forest kindergarten, children and teachers are less burdened by noise than indoors in ordinary kindergartens. Traditional kindergartens have higher noise load and therefore children and caregivers experience increased stress and tension. Another plus forest kindergarten is that a long stay of children and teachers in the open air favorably affects their immune system .
The next impact of forest kindergarten pedagogy lies on a slightly different level: with the growing popularity of forest kindergartens in Germany, there are more and more traditional kindergartens organize so-called Forest Days , Forest Weeks or Forest Projects, gradually bringing the spirit of Forest Kindergarten into their institutions.
