Summer schools in Oxford, summer schools and courses in Oxford for children and schoolchildren
Today Britain is a recognized world leader in the field of education, and Oxford is a kind of visiting card of the country: one of the oldest in Europe and one of the most prestigious is located here in the world Oxford University. The city is also home to many colleges, schools and research centres, with many of Oxford’s educational institutions offering unique summer school programs that seamlessly combine study and leisure, academic work and adventure. Children and schoolchildren from any country in the world can participate in them, including those with zero knowledge of the language.
Benefits of Oxford summer schools:
- British education is one of the best in the world
- Oxford is the largest center of science
- High level of organization
- Different prices and costs9
- Various sports and activities available
- Activities, holidays and excursions
- Keeping students safe
- Highly qualified teachers and staff
- Comfortable living and dining conditions
- Wide range of courses.
Oxford Summer Schools and Courses: Content and Types of Programs
Schools are usually open during the summer holidays in June, July and August (but sometimes part of May and September). The duration of training is from 7 days, the standard course is from 2 to 6 weeks (but it can be more). Summer school participants are divided into age groups and subgroups according to the level of proficiency, each age has its own characteristics in perception and behavior, and therefore different methods are used:
- 3-7 years old
- 8-11 years old
- 12-15 years old
- 16-18 years old.
The smallest participants are accompanied by their parents or guardians. All students are monitored around the clock by staff. You can stay in the camp both around the clock and during the day (the first type is more common).
In general, the system of education is easier in comparison with the classical strict system of school or university education. Lessons are held in small groups 5 days a week before lunch, and afternoons and weekends are devoted to sports, creativity, hobbies and entertainment. A cheerful and relaxed atmosphere reigns in the classes: teachers do their best to make children feel comfortable, do not hesitate to clarify complex topics and questions, incomprehensible moments. You can choose different types of training:
- Level Up (Standard, Semi-Intensive, Intensive)
- Preparing for tests and exams
- Preparing for school/college/university.
In addition to the standard exercises in the sections of linguistics, much attention is paid to various interactive activities and communication.
The second important part of the summer school is extra-curricular activities and recreation, and here each participant can choose their preferred direction:
- Sports. Professional training for a specific type of physical activity. You can significantly improve the level of skills in a particular sport under the guidance of experienced coaches. Many schools issue an additional sports certificate of participation.
- Creative. Including classes in a particular type of art or creativity – the choice is large and includes many areas of music, cinema, theater, visual arts and much more.
- Scientific. Recently, they have become increasingly popular: they include classes in certain sciences and specialties – physics, chemistry, mathematics, ecology and much more. Especially useful for those who want to improve the overall level of education or plan to enter the educational institutions of the country.
- Recreation and entertainment. Here the emphasis is on entertainment events – a large number of excursions, holidays and events are arranged.
All participants attend excursions, festivals, concerts both in Oxford and beyond.
Oxford courses for children and schoolchildren: accommodation and accommodation options
Host takes care of all questions about accommodation and meals:
- School / Center Residence (fully equipped rooms, common areas and amenities)
- Host family (cozy home atmosphere, close acquaintance with the way of life)
- Hotel/apartments/apartments (accommodation within the walls of school partners or under special conditions).
All types of accommodation provide the same high level of comfort. Children are provided with a balanced diet, a choice of preferred meals or special plans (eg diets).
Oxford Summer Schools: approximate prices and costs
The cost and price of training vary depending on the institution, the intensity of the course and other conditions. The total price usually includes:

- Tours and activities
- Academic subjects (if available)
- Accommodation and meals
- Educational materials.
Additional charges:
- Travel expenses, air tickets
