Summer program for kindergarten: Kindergarten Enrichment Camp | Child Success Center
Kindergarten Enrichment Camp | Child Success Center
KINDERGARTEN ENRICHMENT CAMP – Program Details
One of the greatest challenges of a young child’s life is the transition from preschool into an elementary school environment. The summer marks the end of an era and the beginning of their relationship with learning. Many aspects of kindergarten are new for your child. The school is bigger, there is more time sitting at a table, more focus on letters and numbers, more time involved with handwriting, more time listening and a lot more structure. The days are longer and there is often more independence required.
Results-Driven Kindergarten Enrichment Program Prepares Kids with the Skills Needed for the Big Transition
To prepare kids for their new challenges in Kindergarten, Child Success Center offers Kindergarten Enrichment Camp every summer. The camp not only teaches and prepares children for kindergarten, but they have a blast, too! Presented as a 3-week curriculum – (if campers are not available for the full 3 weeks, individual weeks are available) campers – in a small group – will spend over 20 hours a week involved in activities designed to help them develop the skills needed to excel in kindergarten. The program helps children develop confidence when taking the first steps toward reading, writing, attending to a new routine, developing social-emotional skills, being mindful of themselves and others and making new friends. CSC’s huge gymnasium is turned into a fun learning camp with swings, a trampoline, a climbing wall and monkey bars to take children on an adventure while building up their kindergarten skills.

The fall school term is fully underway, and here at CSC, we’re thinking back with smiles on our faces, about the wonderful children we shared our summer with, that are now officially Kindergarteners!
We’re smiling remembering all the fun we had, but also because we know that after a few weeks at Summer Kindergarten Enrichment Camp, these little bundles of energy are prepared and ready to take on the challenge of a new environment, new adults, new peers and new experiences…

Parent Testimonials:
“My daughter just finished up kinder camp at CSC. I can’t say enough nice things about Shelby who taught the camp. The staff is all kind and proactive. I’m so glad we found the CSC.”
“I can’t say enough about K-Camp. My daughter attended K-Camp for two weeks and it gave her exposure to early literacy and numeracy, as well as provided a structured day that really prepared her for the kindergarten transition. As a parent, it gave me peace of mind that she would be ready to take the next steps.”
“My son had the best week at the Kindergarten Readiness Camp with Shelby. He is starting Kindergarten in September after completing a year of TK so it was the perfect refresher midway through summer. The camp focused on academics but also social interaction, self-regulating, transitioning and much more. My son said they played fun games and he loved taking breaks and playing in the gym. For a boy who doesn’t love doing table work he said it was the best camp! I could not be happier.”
Additional Testimonials…
Was K-CAMP able to meet your family goal?
“Yes, in teaching the letters and sounds and in helping with control of the body in the classroom environment. ”
“We have tons of new tools to use in helping [child’s name] regulate his emotions and be more vocal in expressing himself through words.”
“[Child’s name] is more aware of her body and is doing a great job using her words to describe social situations.”
What did your child learn at K-CAMP?
“Letters, numbers, writing, whole-body listening skills and making good choices.”
“How to better stay in the group and improved knowledge of alphabet and how to write.”
What do you think was the most effective part of K-CAMP?
“My favorite [about K-CAMP] was reminding the child about good choices. I loved all the follow-up and feedback procedures.”
“Having a teacher who was invested in enhancing his self-confidence and positive feelings about learning while also maintaining boundaries and pushing him to try things he found difficult.”
“After these weeks, [child’s name] has a better sense of self, how she is part of a group collective. Also, that she has an opinion and the need to share.”
“The email updates and daily one-on-one time with real-time updates, progress reports and issues/challenges from the day.”
Other comments:
“[Name of child] is better understanding how to work in a group setting. She’s learning her letters and how to write words.”
“I loved seeing her [the child] learn and be happy.”

Planning of educational activities with pupils of the MADOU “Kindergarten No. 99” in Syktyvkar for the summer period of the 2015-2016 academic year:
THINK FEEL MOVE Ideally, these three components are always present in our lives, and from childhood it is very important to harmoniously develop children, thinking about each of these three processes. We send the child to various educational institutions so that there he becomes the owner of new knowledge and develops certain skills. But it often happens that combining everything you need in developing activities seems difficult, and sometimes even impossible! We at Piccolo School understand the need and importance of knowing the world and yourself in this world, both in terms of expanding knowledge about the infinity of thoughts, and in terms of a variety of emotions and physical capabilities. We eat to classical music, discussing the rules of good manners. We talk about feelings and recognize emotions. We count movements and play the alphabet. We tell fairy tales and set up experiments… INSPIRED BY THE REGIO APPROACH Reggio pedagogy in Russia certainly has its own characteristics, since our country has its own culture, religion and traditions, different from Italy, the birthplace of Reggio. Even after the Second World War in the town of Reggio Emilia in the north of Italy, new kindergartens began to open with new principles of education. The founder of the approach is Loris Malaguzzi, who relied on the ideas of Lev Vygodsky, Jean Piaget and Maria Montessori. The main methods are research projects, creativity, the study of the world around, as well as cooperation between adults and children. We have tried as much as possible to bring the principles of this approach into our program. Every day every child makes many discoveries in the process of learning about the world – we just follow his interests, help and support him! private kindergarten Piccolo school
RESPECT
EACH OTHER
We set an example of respect for the child. The child perceives as a norm that every person deserves respect. Even a toddler understands and feels himself a part of this world – as long as it is his family and his
kindergarten, it is very important for him to realize his value. When talking with a child, we certainly look into his eyes, sit down next to him during meals and activities in order to be at the same eye level. Be sure to raise the child if you need to consider something that is at a higher level.

EXPLAINING THE RULES
AND ASKING QUESTIONS
The rules are different everywhere – somewhere there are more, somewhere less. In the store you can do one thing, and in the theater another. We ask children why you want it to be so. Sometimes you can tell a story or give an example, in any case –
give children the tools for how best to act in a given situation. Understanding where the rules came from, it will be easier for children to accept them. Even more interesting to speculate on the topic of the rules! Before explaining, ask the kid a question, what does he already know about this?

NOT GOOD AND NOT BAD –
JUST DIFFERENT!
Is there a blue mouse? The child drew a sky blue mouse – is this correct or not? But why shouldn’t the mouse be blue? Or any other? Believe me, the children will tell you many options for explaining why
the mouse is blue, the elephant is pink, and the cucumber-egg palm tree! It’s just that the kids saw it differently! Yes – let the mouse fall into blue paint, the elephant walked along the beach at sunset with red-pink spills in the sky, and the palm tree grew on a plate in the form of a “palm” breakfast, laid out from egg and cucumber. Versions of children are infinity – and it’s so nice – to understand that they are all correct !!!
And more global things and phenomena can be seen in a different way, in a new way and speculate about it. Ask the child – why does he think so? Children will be so pleased to discuss their point of view with you!

VERY IMPORTANT
OFFER CHOICE TO THE CHILD
And at the same time create situations where the child can choose what is closer to him without haste and sometimes even without your noticeable participation. At the same time, the baby should not complicate the task too much – let him choose 9 first0003
of two options.
For example, ask him what he wants for breakfast – cereal or porridge? Two types of berries or two types of fruits can be served with porridge. Even at two or three years old, a baby can choose whether he wants to eat white or black bread. And what a pleasure to spread bread with soft cheese or jam!
Before class, remember the main characters from yesterday evening’s fairy tale – it will be so interesting to play with them. Offer him to mold or draw his favorite character? If we draw, offer the child a choice of paints or pencils of several types and colors. Interesting: the older the child becomes, the more shades of the same color you can introduce him to. Let it be light green, marsh, light green. Together with your child, you can come up with names, since just one adjective “green” will no longer be enough!
If you can’t choose something quickly, offer to think about the choice in advance. In moments when it seems to you that the child’s choice is not the most optimal, try to offer an alternative, discuss options, giving arguments for reflection. For example: you can take a second snack option with you so that you can think again later! Or – take a change of shoes or clothes in case it gets cold. A child is always pleased to solve any issue on his own or together with you – like any adult, he does not want something – important for him – to be decided without his participation.
The older the child gets, the more choices are offered. He understands that there are rules and boundaries, he knows why these rules must be observed in different situations. But most importantly, he realizes why or why he made the choice!

FANTASY –
MEAN TO DEVELOP!
As many parents want to teach their children to read and count faster, preferably in more than one language. For us, the method is important: how the child learns and remembers new information. It matters when he does it out of interest
and having fun while playing! Then this knowledge will be associated with pleasant impressions and emotions. In early childhood, children most often succeed in fantasizing, but then template logic, public opinion and other points begin to put pressure on the child.
Creativity and imaginative thinking needs special attention in childhood! In Reggio Pedagogy, we are engaged in project activities, the topic for which we take from the outside world. We study objects, compare them with each other, measure, weigh, sculpt, draw, and sometimes taste – it’s very exciting and educational for kids at the same time! This is how interest in research is born, curiosity, inquisitiveness of the mind, curiosity develop!
If we lay the vector for the development of creative, design thinking in childhood, then in adult life it will be easy for these people to solve problems with arguing their point of view, with the initiation and implementation of their unique projects, with the creation of any concepts, and most importantly, with awareness of your choice.

IN ANY SITUATION
THERE IS BENEFITS AND NEW KNOWLEDGE
Observation is the first thing that gives us knowledge. Toddlers always have so many questions – and each of them is a reason for the most real research!
Looking for an answer to the question: Why did they get a turnip in the fairy tale
? And later we discuss friendship and mutual assistance when we do research together or clean up after ourselves together, noting that doing everything together is fun and useful! What can be seen with closed eyes? We discuss dreams and dreams: what of a dream can turn into reality? We rest with calm music, lie down on mats and pillows and imagine something pleasant and tell each other! Why do leaves turn yellow in autumn and what are they like? Is it possible to discuss a heavy leaf? Not heavy? And for the ant? Let’s weigh the leaf! For example, at breakfast, you can discuss etiquette issues, and also think about what bread is baked from or cottage cheese is made from? How many types of cereals exist and who likes what? There are many questions that the child can answer through observation, discussion, research.
But a child does not necessarily learn information from an adult. Reggio’s approach, among other things, consists in the ability to raise a question on any topic and perhaps the answer to it will be given by another child in the garden, a child of friends, a sister or brother. You can learn from a movie, a book, a play, or from talking and playing with your friends! It is very useful to go to museums together, especially where there are programs for children! It is always important to remember that we are not trying to convince as bad or as good – we express our opinion and our views!
Our division into different directions of development is only conditional: moving in a physical education lesson or on a chess field, we count, study the horizontal and vertical, orient ourselves in space – to the right and to the left. Creating the Little Theater, we understand that we will study the coordination of text and movement, learn the most real, albeit small roles, start creative activity – create and describe an image, object, movement . .. Impressive!

ASK
OPEN QUESTIONS
Be sure to encourage the child: Think! Build your version! State your version!
The task of adults – both parents and teachers – is to ask as many open questions as possible, thereby maintaining the
interest of the child.
Lev Semenovich Vygodsky, from whom Reggio pedagogy inherited a lot, said: “On this or that issue, we must understand where the child is now – and we will find out the zone of his proximal development”

Peculiarities of the educational process

…
1 – |
Mini groups |
All classes are held in groups of up to 8 people. This optimal number of students allows you to master new material as successfully as possible and consolidate the knowledge already acquired, and the game method will make learning easy and interesting. Children reach out for each other, compete, learn to communicate in a team. A children’s mini-team is psychologically better prepared for school than individual classes, while the quality of education is not lost.
2 – |
Highly qualified specialists |
All classes are conducted by psychologists, teachers of elementary grades and methodologists of the profile level, who are responsible for their work and love it.
3 – |
The latest developments in pedagogy |
We are professionals in our field. Our teaching staff follows all trends in the field of education, constantly improving their abilities and expanding their knowledge, which allows us to guarantee the most effective education for your child.
4 – |
Comprehensive approach, using different methodologies |
We never limit ourselves to one direction in pedagogy. Every child is unique and needs to be approached differently. The use of method synthesis makes education flexible and efficient.
5 – |
Person-centered approach |
Student-centered education is such education, where the child’s personality, its originality, self-worth are put at the forefront, the subjective experience of each is first revealed, and then coordinated with the content of education. Classes in mini-groups allow you to devote as much time to each child as it takes for him to assimilate knowledge.
6 – |
Optimal study time |
1 lesson – 30 minutes – this is the maximum time recommended by pedagogy for preschool children (45 minutes for a child of primary school age). The fact is that it is difficult to keep the attention of the child for more than 15 minutes, after which he needs to change the type of activity. We adhere to these recommendations for the successful assimilation of educational material by your child without overload and psycho-emotional stress.
The educational center “In the Land of Knowledge” is always in touch with its students and their parents.
We rejoice in your success as if it were our own.
