Women’s gang from Divnoye, operating in the Stavropol Territory, is tried again

Hearings of the second criminal case of the Amazon gang continue in the Rostov Regional Court

The group, which consisted of three women, including a former kindergarten teacher, is considered the most violent in recent years. The “interlocutor” remembered the details of a high-profile criminal story and found out what happened to those involved in it.

Why the Amazon gang?

Near one of the crime scenes of a family gang, law enforcement officers found a knife wrapped in a rag. On it was engraved: “To my beloved Amazon.” The knife had nothing to do with the crime, it ended up there by accident, some young man ordered it for his girlfriend. But this word “Amazons” stuck to the gang.

The house stands empty and cold

If somewhere they forgot about the “gang of Amazons”, it is not in their native Stavropol village with the poetic name Divnoye, where their base was. The criminals have been operating in the Stavropol Territory and the Rostov Region for more than 15 years, killing security officials and ordinary homeowners. The stone fence around the house of the gang leaders, husband and wife Roman Podkopaev and Inessa Tarverdiyeva, reminds of the past. The “Great Wall of China” as it is called. The bandits put up a wall to protect themselves from prying eyes. The house is empty, the locals consider it a bad place, they don’t come close and won’t even buy it for a ruble.

In 2017, the court gave four members of the gang – Inessa Tarverdieva, her daughter Victoria, the sister of Inessa Anastasia Sinelnik’s common-law husband and Anastasia’s husband Sergey – 76 years for all. The family gang has 10 proven murders, and now they are being tried for another series of atrocities – all thefts, robberies and murders did not fit into one criminal case.

The first beauty and the godmother

Today, looking at the haggard face of the main “Amazon” Inessa Tarverdiyeva, her stooped thin figure, it is hard to believe that this tired, early aged woman in her youth, let’s say delicately, was incredibly popular with local men and was considered the first beauty in the village.

“She was very beautiful, then she neglected herself, she had no time to take care of herself,” says Tatyana Pogorelova, a resident of Divnoye. – In my youth, I slept with those who are richer, was always dressed in fashion, looked down on others.

Inessa was married to Azerbaijani Arzu Tarverdiev, a watchman, when she began to have an affair first with Vladimir Podkopaev, a narcologist, and then with his son Roman, who studied in Rostov as a dentist. The younger Podkopaev was 11 years younger than Inessa, but, having fallen in love with her, did not want to share with others. At 19In 98, he killed Arzu with her consent, the crime was not solved in those years. This was not his first murder, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, before that Podkopaev had killed and robbed his teacher. After getting rid of Arzu, Inessa began to live with Roman.

Five years later, the husband and wife decided to ransack the house of their godfather, the husband of their best friend Inessa – there were a lot of hunting weapons. They got into the house when there were no adults, but the 13-year-old daughter of the godfather, goddaughter of Tarverdiyeva, unexpectedly came with a friend. The girls were killed for the sake of two guns, so as not to leave witnesses. And again, Inessa and her civil husband came out dry from the water, they were not suspected.

The main “Amazon” on the investigative experiment

Since then they have killed and robbed a lot and brutally, mostly policemen. The most resonant was the murder of special forces soldier Dmitry Chudakov on the Don highway. He was shot with his wife and two children, who were finished off with knives. But there were ordinary people among the victims of the gang. Inessa and her husband took three bottles of champagne and chicken fillet from the pensioners Goncharovs, the last to die at their hands.

Playing the victim

Inessa’s daughter from her first marriage, Victoria, took part in the “family business” – murders and robberies, when she grew up; Married to Roman, Tarverdiyeva had a second daughter, Nastya.

– She broke her elder daughter’s life, a good mother would tear her teeth, but she wouldn’t let that happen. She had a car with a boyfriend, she could leave Podkopaev at any moment, – says a local resident Tatyana Pogorelova.

The version of domestic violence and coercion comes primarily from Inessa herself, who had no choice but to cooperate with the investigation. Roman Podkopaev died during a shootout while being detained by traffic inspectors, you can’t ask him how it was arranged in their clan. Inessa claims that she acted on the orders of her husband, he was the initiator. Domestic violence is a trending topic, but in Divnoye there is no unequivocal opinion on this matter: they say that Roman Podkopaev was quiet, inconspicuous, isolated, not like a leader at school; who certainly looked like a leader in his youth was the cunning and prudent Inessa. And how can domestic violence justify participation in a gang and murders?

Roman’s mother, Galina Podkopayeva, at the first trial, of course, defended her son and said that Inessa was slandering both him and her daughter Anastasia and her husband Sergei Sinelnik. In the 90s, Galina Podkopayeva, who worked as the head of the archive department of the local administration, arranged for her daughter-in-law to be an archivist, and after a quarrel, she herself made sure that she was fired. In general, Inessa worked as an educator and archivist for a very short time, although later she was proud of her “work biography”: they say, she gave the kids a start in life.

Anastasia Sinelnik was aware of all the criminal cases of brother Roman and Inessa, accepted gifts from them – looted and taken from the dead, covers, but she herself did not participate in sorties. Her husband Sergei, a traffic police officer, rendered the Amazons an invaluable service: he supplied them with service radios and leaked operational information. This is partly why the gang could not be contacted for so long. The village considers it unfair that the first court gave Anastasia Sinelnik 19 years old, and the main “Amazon” Inessa – 21 years old. One was silent, and the other acted.

Five years later

After the trial in 2017, the mother of Roman Podkopaev and Anastasia Sinelnik went out in Rostov with pickets, demanded justice, said that her daughter was accused of other people’s crimes, that the case was beneficial to Moscow generals, that Inessa was slandering everyone.

The judgment was not reviewed. Podkopayeva took Anastasia and Inessa’s daughter Nastya to raise the children. In June of this year, Galina died, locals say that she drank herself. Her husband, narcologist Vladimir Georgievich Podkopaev, helped her for a long time, put droppers, pumped out, but alcoholism and years took their toll. He himself, according to locals, also abuses alcohol, and it is a pity for him, since he is a “normal” person and doctor.

Inessa’s daughter Nastya, who was a teenager when the gang was operating, finished school, supposedly entered a university and left the village, where her mother will never be forgotten. The mother of a 13-year-old girl who died at the hands of bandits, Inessa’s best friend, drank herself and died a long time ago.

Another person in this drama – Valentina Chudakova, the mother of the murdered special forces soldier Dmitry Chudakov – still does not believe that her son was killed by Tarverdiev and Podkopaev, and believes that the investigators are covering up for real killers who are connected with her son’s official activities. “Amazons” Inessa, Victoria and Anastasia are serving their sentences in a general regime prison; there are no high security prisons for women in Russia.
