C ent-Paul (Minnesota) ) | it’s.

.. What is St. Paul, Minnesota?

This term has other meanings, see St. Paul.

Saint Paul (eng. Saint Paul ) is a city in the north of the United States, the capital of the state of Minnesota, the administrative center of Ramsey County. The population is 275.1 thousand people (2005; the second largest city in Minnesota). It forms an agglomeration with Minneapolis, the largest city in the state by population.

Located on the left bank of the Mississippi River, opposite the city of Minneapolis.

Saint Paul was founded in 1838 and has had city status since 1854. In the first half of the 19th century, it was the extreme outpost of the American Wild West, where European settlers (mainly Catholic Germans and Irish), American soldiers (from Fort Snelling located slightly upstream of the Mississippi) lived in close proximity. By the 20th century, it had become a major transportation hub.

Mechanical engineering is developed in the city: the production of automobiles (at the Ford plant), computers, vacuum cleaners, cranes, medical equipment, etc. Chemical (paint and varnish), woodworking, meat, and flour-grinding industries. Freight port on the Mississippi.

Twin Cities Reader and City Pages published.

There is a university.

Of the sights, it is worth noting the Cathedral of St. Paul, built in the likeness of the Roman Cathedral of St. Peter, as well as museums of art and agricultural technology, the Minnesota Capitol. Every year in January, ten-day carnivals are held. There are many old buildings and monuments in the city.
