      Aleksey Antsiferov – a graduate of the Faculty of Biology of the Michurinsk State Pedagogical Institute, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, and now an expert at the Moscow Center for Wood Expertise. The organization is professionally engaged in the care and treatment of trees using modern innovative technologies. And also, together with the Federation Council, the Moscow State Forest University and the Interregional Public Organization for Promoting the Preservation of the Natural Heritage of the Regions “Natural Heritage of the Nation” with the participation of Russian regions, implements the All-Russian program “Trees – monuments of nature” in order to preserve old-growth trees in our country as one of important natural values.
      In order to recognize a tree as a monument of wildlife, submitted applications are considered by a special certification commission, which includes well-known public and political figures of Russia (including TV presenter Nikolai Drozdov, female cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Elena Kondakova and others).
      Trees live much longer than humans. Behind an impressive age, there are sometimes bright historical events. The forest fund of the Tambov region is rich in unique estates of large landowners (Pashkovs, Gagarins, Naryshkins, Vorontsovo-Dashkovs), almost each of which once had a park with alleys and exotic plants. The place of “constant attraction”, “the best summer residence” of P.I. Tchaikovsky, according to the composer himself, was the Shilovsky Usovo estate (Bondarsky district).
      Visitors to the House-Museum of I.V. Michurin, as a rule, pay attention to the majestic powerful pedunculate oak on its territory. And indeed, in all respects, it meets the criteria of a wildlife monument: it has reached a rather respectable age, is related to a historical person and grows in a symbolic place.
      When buying a new plot in 1899, Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin kept the then young tree, under the canopy of which he spent time after working in the garden. Today, this tree is surrounded by the garden of the great breeder, represented by his varieties, some trees were planted by Ivan Vladimirovich himself and his students. Now the old-growth English oak has aesthetic, scientific, biological, historical and cultural value.
      In 2011, Alexei Antsiferov proposed to the director of the House-Museum L.V. Volokitina to make an application for this oak from our city. And at the end of April 2013, Alexey, as an expert of the Healthy Forest NSA, came to Michurinsk to examine a historical tree that was included in the register of old-growth trees in Russia. Within a few hours, a complete visual and instrumental diagnostics was carried out, the condition of the foliage was assessed for the presence of specific diseases and pests, geographical data on the place of growth were clarified.
      As already noted, to diagnose the internal state, specialists use innovative technologies that correspond to modern realities. Ultra-sensitive German devices Resistograph and Arbotom allow you to diagnose hidden stem rot without sawing. With the help of the Pressler drill, stem core samples were taken, and the exact age of the unique tree was determined in the dendrological laboratory of the Moscow State University of Forests. Three-dimensional (3D) spatial tomography is also possible with the help of the Arbotom device. Together with the Arboradix module, the system is able to study and detect damage to the root system, allowing you to accurately assess the condition and viability of woody vegetation, and find potentially dangerous trees.
      Lintab and Lignostation devices help in identifying the need for watering and making recommendations on the intensity and timing of watering, evaluating the effectiveness of care measures, determining the timing of tree death, examining the legality of logging, and dendrochronological studies. Scientists agreed that our Michurin oak is quite healthy, except that it needs pruning and loosening.
      At the second stage of the Program, the certification commission re-examines the application for giving the tree the status of a monument of wildlife and, based on the combination of signs, including the results of the instrumental dendrochronological examination, assigns the status “Tree – a monument of wildlife” to the mighty giant.
      In mid-September, a parliamentary delegation from the Council for the Preservation of the Nation’s Natural Heritage visited the Tambov Region. At a meeting in the regional center, issues of nature protection in the Tambov region were discussed. The administration of the city of Michurinsk was presented with a certificate of awarding the “Michurin Oak” the status “Tree – a monument of wildlife.” On the territory of the House-Museum of I.V. Michurin, the official grand opening of the historical tree-monument took place. The event was attended by representatives of the Department for Environmental Protection and Nature Management of the Tambov Region, the Department of Culture, district leaders, museum workers, management and students of MichGAU, teachers and students of schools, and members of the public. The Michurin Oak has an information plate with a detailed description of the tree.
      It is noteworthy that the historical Michurin oak acquired its status in 2013, declared in Russia by the Decree of President V.V. Putin in order to attract public attention to wildlife conservation issues with the Year of Environmental Protection, and the city itself recently celebrated its 10th anniversary as a science city of the Russian Federation. As a result of the visit of the members of the Council, an agreement was signed on the development of activities aimed at preserving the natural heritage of the Tambov region.

      A story about Alon Yablokovich.
      Alon was born on June 19, 1975. Parents – Eti and Yehuda, brothers – Doron and Amir. He graduated from school, specializing in biochemistry, worked at the Kaplan hospital, led excursions.
      Started military service in 1993 as a military paramedic. He served in Gaza and Lebanon. While serving in Lebanon, he received the title of “Hero of Israel” for helping the wounded under fire, saving lives and organizing the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield.
      In 1997 he moved to the security service. He was the coordinator of operations in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.
      During one of the operations in the Hebron area was seriously wounded. He died from his wounds on December 23, 1997.
      He was only 22 years old…
