Do you want to go to school? Submit a bill for the light

The briefcases are far abandoned, the kids are in complete isolation. Holidays! And my American niece Tanya, who is now visiting us, sleeps and sees when the school year begins. Here’s a paradox!

The line is canceled

In general, I have seen such an irrepressible desire to sit at a desk more than once in the States, including among the children of Russian emigrants. Once in America, many of them evaluate the Russian school as very strict. And my 11-year-old niece, who was born and raised in the USA, watches Yeralash and does not understand why the children are afraid of the director. With many problems – school shootings, test-rigging scandals (our USE) – the American education system is very curious.

The beginning of the school year in the States is a completely everyday event, no lines and speeches. In Panama City Beach, I watch my parents arrive at school in flip flops and shorts (Florida, where my sister lives, is a hot state). The requirements for children’s clothing are minimal – closed shoes (slates cannot be worn), girls – a skirt with knitted shorts inside, such are sold in the store. Otherwise, a full firework of styles and cultures, especially considering that the US is a very international country. At the entrance, the children rush into the arms of the director. Joy, laughter, everyone misses you.

Space is always available.

Miss Marie, a teacher, gives me a tour of the primary school, where children attend from 5 years old (which includes kindergarten) to 5th grade. By American standards, the school is ordinary, municipal, but there is something to envy. A chic stadium, a music hall, creative laboratories. Classes are arranged in such a way that at any moment the lesson smoothly flows into the play area, where the kids can comfortably sit on soft pillows and carpets.

A public school (they enroll 85% of American children) will take a child with any migration status, they will even accept children of illegal immigrants (English teachers are immediately attached to foreigners), and the school bus route will be laid directly to the student’s house.

– A child must learn, no matter what life situation he has, says the teacher. My question is “How to get to the school if there are no places?” she does not understand. The administration explains that the main condition is that the student must live in the area assigned to the educational institution. The general document confirming this is the bills for water and electricity. Their parents provide annually. Even if we assume that the family lives in a trailer, where there are no benefits of civilization, the child will be enrolled in school on the basis of a rental agreement for a motor home. The situation when there are no places in the school is excluded. They will open another class, but they will never refuse.

By law, a student without a US passport will receive knowledge only in primary and secondary grades. In the seniors (from 9th to 12th), he can study only in a private paid educational institution, the price is from $ 10 thousand per year and more without accommodation. School uniforms are compulsory and discipline is stricter.

Banned flowers

US public schools do not collect money from parents for repairs, textbooks, etc. The only thing they can offer is to donate a small amount ($ 5–15) for a child’s trip, a T-shirt with school symbols, and organization of a holiday. A letter about this will be sent to each parent by email. However, school is not free for adults. Money for education is included in the property tax, so the quality of educational institutions directly depends on the prices of houses and apartments in which the mothers and fathers of the students live.

Presents are extremely scrupulous in American schools. They can be seen as an attempt to gain favor with the educator.

“You can’t give flowers to the teacher,” my niece instructs me.

– And the gifts? I ask.

– What are you talking about! she is outraged. – It is forbidden! You can only postcard or crafts.

Without a hint of a deuce

Only in writing, the administration informs parents about all innovations. This form of meeting, after which many Russian fathers remove the belts from their pants (parents’ meeting), is unknown to Americans.

The teacher has no right to even hint how the student answered in the class, and classmates do not know anything about each other’s grades. My niece, like all other children in the States, brings her grades home in a special folder.

“The teacher also puts notes with recommendations here, debriefing reports if the child has done something wrong,” my sister explains to me. – Everything is done confidentially so as not to humiliate the child, not to make him look like a loser in the eyes of his classmates. Even in the classroom, if he loses his temper and does not respond to comments, the teacher will invite him to the corridor for a private conversation, but it is forbidden to scold everyone by the instruction.

Of course, there are all sorts of students in America, there are repeaters, but the main point that distinguishes the mentality of American children from Russian ones is being a bully, disrupting lessons, smoking at school (in my niece’s mind, they can even go to jail for this!) across the ocean not considered a feat. A diligent attitude to study is welcomed even among guys.

If relations with the team do not work out, the system is arranged in such a way that every year until graduation (they study here until the age of 18), the composition of all classes is mixed. Don’t like the teacher? And we’ll fix it! From the 1st to the 5th grade, the children annually have a new teacher (such is the narrow specialization of teachers). In middle and high school, you need to move to a new building, and there again new teachers and new friends.

Classes in US schools (here our guys can shout “cheers”) begin in August, in all educational institutions on different dates. And ours still have almost a month to properly relax, buy pens, notebooks and go to school with pleasure on September 1.

What else is unusual

  • Children’s drawings and photographs may only be displayed and photographed with the written consent of the parents.

  • In the 5th grade, a sex education lesson is held, parental consent is required. Medical examination – also only with their permission.

  • A person listed by the parents can pick up a child from school, his/her documents must be checked.

  • Before and after classes, traffic on the road near the school is regulated by a policeman.

Close your eyes and think about your dream vacation. You’re relaxing on a sun-soaked beach, with your toes on the sand and ocean waves splashing in the distance. And while you’re full from lunch, you’re already dreaming of the fierce Snapper and Fish Tacos you want to eat for dinner.

If you’re looking for a warm, tropical getaway, you don’t need to escape to South East Asia or the Caribbean! You can find a slice of heaven right here in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Of course, Florida is home to dozens of resort towns and sugar sand beaches. But Panama City’s beach beats them all, especially for one reason – snorkeling!

Known as the “Capital Traving Traving” of the South, Panama City Beach is dotted with dive sites and artificial reefs. It is one of the best diving destinations in the United States and one of the only cities with dozens of shipwrecks and bridges.

Although your second day of vacation is reserved for an offshore dive trip, you could actually dive every day if you wanted to! Most excursions last between four and five hours, which means you can set off in the morning and only get back to shore in time for lunch.

So get ready to indulge in a weekend full of sunshine, watering the kitchen and crystal clear waters!

Day

1

Your first day on the beach Panama City is all about authentic sights. Once you touch Florida and check into your hotel, it’s time to explore the area and get your land tape. It can be tempting to hit the beach right away, but don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time for that later!

Morning

Your first stop is Pier Park, a fun filled entertainment center with exciting shopping, dining and entertainment. And best of all, it’s located right on the beachfront of Panama City.

With over 120 stores and brands, Pary Park is a shopper’s paradise. Whether you opt for an extra bottle of sunscreen or treat yourself to a brand new swimsuit, it has it all.

And for sweeping, panoramic views of Panama City Beach, a leisurely ride on the elevated Skywheel! From the top of the giant Ferris wheel, you’ll have an unobstructed, bird’s eye view of the ocean and coastal coastline.

Afternoon

After a relaxing morning of shopping, head to Chewie’s kitchen for lunch. Everything from Chewie Style cheese steak to loaded Chutato chips is made from scratch with love. Even aromatic salad dressings are made right here in the house!

And if you’re sticking to weekend visits, you can try their brunch menu, which includes breakfast classics like omelettes, egg and cheese sandwiches, and even Cristo chews on their rotation on a Monte Cristo sandwich.

With a full, happy belly, you can go to the sandy shores and spend a few hours on the beach. Soak up your first few rays of sun or swim in the warm, turquoise waters. It’s time to relax and have fun – you’re on vacation, after all!

Evening

As soon as the sun goes down, return to the hotel to refresh. Then get ready for your first exciting night in Panama City Beach.

There are tons of restaurants to choose from, but Saltwater Grill is a great choice for sampling traditional coastal cuisine. Serving fresh seafood, juicy steaks and robust cocktails, the salt water grill is the perfect restaurant for a delicious dinner.

And while the food doesn’t cover the spectacle, this is a floor-to-ceiling 25,000-gallon aquarium that will make your jaw drop. As the perfect backdrop for your dinner, the aquarium is teeming with tropical fish and exotic marine life to watch.

But try not to knock too many mojitos. You should wake up bright and early tomorrow for a good day of diving!

Day 2

Set your alarms early because you’ll be spending your morning diving through the pristine waters of the Gulf Coast. And try not to be late; Your tour with diver leaves at 8 am!

Morning

As a Diver Den charter pulled out into the ocean, you’ll be equipped with a wetsuit, mask and oxygen tank as you wave goodbye to shores in the distance.

As you dive into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, you’ll see schools of tropical fish, stand-up fish and maybe sharks! The deep blue ocean is home to a variety of colorful limestones as well as artificial reefs. And since you’re diving in the wreck south, you won’t want to miss the wrecks and bridges that lie deep below the surface.

Reaching a depth of between 45-80 feet, you will have the opportunity to study the destruction of historic ocean bunkers, tugboats and even Mineesweepers! Swim through the decommissioned USS Accokeek or crawl along the 19th century ridges. Tarpon for amazing underwater views.

And as you snake through the hallway of the wrecks, you will also find that the water is filled with marine life. Hidden inside little nooks and stakes, you’ll see spiny lobsters, perks, and even a few fireworms! Just stay away from these guys – they will cause you nothing but pain if they touch you!

Depending on how long you want to spend in the water, Diver’s Den offers two or three tanks. And if you’re looking for something a little more extreme, choose one of our deep offshore charters that will take you to 110 feet of natural bottom.

As you conclude your last dive of the morning, you will return to shore to clean up and rest. And if you want to book another trip, go for it! There are so many ocean dive sites around the ocean that you’ll want to check them all out.

Afternoon

Once you get back to shore, you are likely to be exhausted (and starving) after spending your morning snorkeling.

So, grab a quick bite to eat at Finn’s Island-style Grub, a gourmet food truck that serves up some of the best fish tacos in Florida. Or try their epic quesadillas and Bum Bumritos beach, both made to order with only the freshest ingredients.

Whatever you choose, you can enjoy your meal from the outdoor picnic tables while soaking up the sun.

After such a long morning, you deserve a well-earned break, so reach out for the rest of the day! Hit the beach, shop or just relax on the balcony of your hotel room.

Evening

After a few relaxing hours you will be refreshed and ready to hit the city! And hopefully you’re hungry again too, because Panama’s beach town is packed with restaurants catering to every palate of tastes.

Like a runaway island beach bar and grill. This staple of Panama City Beach has the right property right on the ocean, making it the perfect place to watch the sunset. And if you haven’t gotten your fill of seafood yet, is Rowaway Oill offers everything from fried shrimp and clams to burgers and crab cakes.

And to help burn off a few of those extra dinner calories, head to Pierce Park for a night out. Walk peacefully across the bank with the city lit up in the distance and the moon reflecting the ocean. Not to mention Pier Park is a whole different vibe when the sun goes down!

Day 3

It’s not time to go home yet! Although this is your last day in Panama Beach City, you can still enjoy fine exciting activities before heading back to the airport. Your last day should be spent outdoors where you can really sink your teeth into this fabulous city!

Morning

Start your day off right now with a delicious breakfast at Thomas’ Donuts Snack Shop. This restaurant is located right on the beach, this restaurant specializes in American favorites like Hot Dogs, Pizza and of course donuts! Grab a few of your favorites and enjoy the morning view from your outdoor deck.

Now that you’re fully alive, take the short drive to Camp Helen State Park, a waterfront slice of paradise right on the bay. Explore one of the park & hiking trails, or rent a kayak or paddle board to relax on the lake. You can even make fresh and sea water straight from the pier!

The beaches in the state of Camp Helen are also worth a visit. Stop for a quick dip in the ocean or a NAP post-breakfast on the white sandy coast. Either way, the park is a great escape from the sometimes overcrowded public beaches in the city!

Afternoon

It’s time to return to the city after a beautiful morning exploring the wilderness of the park. Next: lunch!

Treat yourself to classic, Panama Beach cuisine on the beach at the Kryuchko Grill. This casual beachfront restaurant features an outdoor terrace with stunning water views, this casual beachfront themed restaurant is known for fresh seafood and cold beers. Here you can indulge in lobster or shrimp tacos, fried jellied scallops, or a catch-of-the-day seafood platter.

With the sun going down, you’ll want to soak the last few hours of your Panama City beach. Do some last-minute shopping, stroll along the pier or relax in one of the city’s many parks.

Evening

There’s no better way to spend your last night on Panama City Beach than with a campfire! Grab a few friends and hit the shores for a fun night of fire-retardant S’mores, beach games and music.

Endless Beach Rental provides comprehensive beach packages for the ultimate campfire evening. They deliver and set up your party with sun loungers, side tables, hammocks and lights. All you have to do is bring in your favorite BBQ dishes and a couple of drinks and you are ready to go!

The fire is slowly starting to die, signaling that it’s time to say goodbye to your buddies and on to your fantastic vacation. From diving among live schools of fish to a Ferris Ride wheel with a sweeping view of the bay, your amazing ride was one for the books.
