For the schools of the same name, see Timberline High School.

Timberline High School is a comprehensive public high school in Lacey, Washington. Opened at 19’70 and part of North Thurston Public Schools, the school colors are green and gold and the mascot is a blazer.

Timberline primarily accepts students from Komachin High School. At one time, the school building housed an experimental high school, New Age High School. Timberline’s original floor plan was open, similar to the Juanita Concept; the original building was completely demolished in the 2007-08 school year. [3]

History

The original building was completed in 1970. During the school’s first week in 1970, 700 students gathered in the gymnasium because it was the only part of the building completed.

The school building had an open structure and the class schedule was flexible, modular, in 15 minute increments. Almost all instructions were individualized.

The first major change in the schedule took place at 1976/77 school year, when he had a more traditional 7-period schedule. In 1978, it was changed to a 6-period chart. The Faculty of Mathematics was the last one where teaching was predominantly individual, until the 1982-1983 academic year.

Major changes to the building took place in 1980, when $3.3 million was invested in the construction. Some classes were held on laptop computers until the spring of 1981. Construction included the Linguistic Arts Building, an auto shop, graphics and journalism areas, a gym and sports field, and a student residence.

Softball and soccer fields were added in the 1985/86 school year.
