About Our Center
Opened in 1966, Paley Early Learning Center (ELC) is located on 7 acres abutting Pennypack Park in Northeast Philadelphia. With a mix of independent and organized activities, education, and recreational opportunities, the program provides a multi-cultural curriculum reflecting the composition of the neighborhood, and offers experiences requiring investigation, exploration and discovery. In 2019, to better meet the needs of the Orthodox community, the Gan Simcha program which originated 12 years ago in Melrose Park expanded to the Paley ELC.
Embracing hands-on, collaborative, and joyful learning
The Federation Early Learning Centers use The Creative Curriculum®, a comprehensive, research-based, and developmentally appropriate curriculum that follows children’s interests as they work together to explore, investigate, and make discoveries about the world around them and the people, places, and objects that are relevant to their lives.

Enrichment Programs
Paley’s dynamic and exciting enrichment programs fall into three categories; Enrichment Specialists, Trips & Center Events and Outdoor Fun & Play. Enrichment Specialists frequently visit Paley to lead various activities, while older children are further engaged with field trips to nearby locations. Center events are focused on a holiday or celebratory occasion. Outdoor Fun & Play is a critical component of the FELS philosophy, and Paley offers dedicated outdoor space, with individual age-appropriate playgrounds for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. There is also an in-ground wading pool for summer fun!
Enrichment Specialists
Skilled specialists visit our center to provide engaging activities for all children. Some of these include music, yoga, gymnastics, languages, and soccer.
Trips & Center Events
Older children visit museums and arboretums, take in theater performances and more. All children take part in special events that are brought to our center.
Outdoor Fun & Play
We recognize the value of outdoor play, and our enclosed playground area helps to ensure our children get all the fresh air and outdoor activity they need!
