Welcome to Sacred Heart Catholic Academy of Bayside!

Sacred Heart offers your child an innovative and challenging academic experience from Nursery through Grade 8. Both students and teachers learn from each other as they follow the teachings of Jesus on a daily basis. Faith based character education is a gift that remains with our students even after they have left Sacred Heart Catholic Academy.

Before and aftercare is available to all students and families. Our afterschool and in school programs include a Scouts program for Girls and Boys, CYO and Intramural Sports, Art Club,  and more. We are also thrilled to have a STEAM Lab for all Grades. Our Grade 8 students attend Convent of the Sacred Heart, Kellenberg, St. Mary’s High School, St. Francis Prep, The Mary Louis Academy, Holy Cross High School and Regis. Scholarships this year will totaled over $350,000 for the students going to Catholic High Schools.

To apply to Sacred Heart Catholic Academy in grades K-8, you must provide the following information :

• Online Application Form
• Copy of Birth Certificate or Passport
• Copy of Baptismal Certificate (if Roman Catholic)
• Copy of Immunization Records
• Annual Physical (form included in packet)
• Copy of most current Report Card and prior year Final Report Card (if transferring from another school)
• Copy of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) an/or 504 ( if applicable)
• Registration Fee – $350 per child, capped at $450 per family and an administrative fee from FACTS – $20 per child for new familes

Sacred Heart’s program is an active exploration in an environment which is rich in materials and opportunities to pray, converse, socialize, work, play and interact with others. The classrooms are planned to encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving in a faith filled atmosphere of warmth, affection and respect for each child.  

Teachers plan experiences based on children’s interests and appropriate educational concepts. Children will work individually and collaboratively while being involved in experiences which include foundations of Math, Science, Social Studies, Creative Art, Language Arts, Music, Movement and Dramatic Play. All interrelated aspects of the child’s growth and development are considered so they include the intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, physical and creative.

We follow the Units of Study related to the NYC curriculum.

Our School Nursery Offer

The Sacred Heart Nursery employs experienced early years practitioners and provides a tailored curriculum to support the children. This leads to excellent outcomes and prepares them for the next stage of their education, moving up to Reception.

The school nursery is a term-time only setting with each day split into three sessions:

Morning session      8.30am to 11.30am

Lunchtime session  11.30am to 12.30pm

Afternoon session   12.30pm to 3.30pm

Children can attend our Nursery for the morning session, afternoon session or all day and, together with Kidz Klub (breakfast and after-school), we can offer seamless childcare and Nursery education from 7.30am to 6.00pm.

Children who are eligible for 15 hours per week of nursery education will be offered a morning or afternoon session. 

Children who are entitled to 30 hours per week of nursery education will be offered both a morning and afternoon session.  

The 30 hours of childcare is available to parents in England who work more than 16 hours a week and earn less than £100,000. If you are unsure if you are eligible you can check here at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

Sacred Heart can offer a chargeable lunchtime session for those taking up both 15 hours or 30 hours. The cost of this is £5 per session. Children staying for a lunch session can either bring a packed lunch or receive a hot school meal. School meals cost an additional £2.40 each day. Lunchtime sessions and school meals must be paid for in advance through ParentPay.

If you are eligible for a morning or afternoon session only, but wish to take up additional nursery education sessions, this can be arranged where space allows at a cost of £15 per session. These must be paid for in advance through ParentPay.

Taking up 30 hours of Early Education supports children’s learning, social and emotional understanding and prepares them for their future. We believe that a happy, stimulating and safe environment is essential for the development of children. Through the care and teaching provided we aim to develop independence, self-esteem and an enthusiasm for learning. We believe that children have a range of different experiences and a variety of skills and interests that they bring with them to school. Our provision and teaching builds upon what children already know and can do. We hope this will be the beginning of a happy and successful partnership which will continue throughout your child’s time at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School.

Trees since 1862 | About the nursery Ebben

1862

Johannes Hubertus Ebben, who has mastered the profession of nursery at the monastery of St. Agatha, opens a nursery called “The First Nursery of the Kaika Land”. The nursery then occupied 5 hectares and specialized in growing fruit trees and creating gardens for monasteries, churches and schools.

1909

In 1909 the sons of Johannes, Wilhelmus and Henrikus Ebben, joined the company and the nursery was given a new name: J.H. Ebben and Sons. The brothers became the owners of the cattery after the death of their father at 1921 years old. The nursery continued to specialize in landscape architecture and began advising clients on landscaping.

1951

André and Harry Ebben, sons of Wilhelmus, opened their own nursery called André Ebben Tree Cultivation. They combined their experience and expertise in tree breeding with their father’s passion for landscaping and landscaping, creating beautiful monastic and private gardens, where the use of innovative materials and unusual trees played a major role.

1965

The two lines of the family business were finally decided – the design office and the perennial garden center moved to Malden, while the nursery remained in Caique. In 1975, the tree nursery moved to its current location. The area of ​​the nursery reaches 75 hectares.

1988

Toon Ebben took over the management of the nursery and changed the company name to ‘Boomkwekerij Ebben B.V.’ Meanwhile, the cultivation and export of avenue trees grew exponentially. The nursery mastered new specializations and developed new methods, which were subsequently applied in practice. Through close contact with landscape architects across Europe, the range has grown to include multi-stem trees, ground branching trees and large solitary shrubs.

2009

The nursery specializes in environmentally friendly plant protection and fertilization, and in September the Ebben nursery receives the Milieukeur eco-label for all products. The nursery now occupies 350 hectares. The range is constantly expanding and replenished with multi-stemmed trees, trees with branching from the ground, trees suitable for climbing, climatic and topiary trees, as well as large solitary shrubs.

2012

We celebrated the anniversary – the nursery turned 150 years old and the “heart” of the company began to beat with renewed vigor – a new complex that includes a logistics park, an office and an amazing roof garden. The spacious conference room offers the possibility of organizing events. Ebben is a center of excellence in landscape architecture, dendrology, cultivation and the unusual use of trees. About eighty permanent employees work in the nursery with an area of ​​420 hectares.

The future

Ebben Nurseries are increasingly commissioned for unusual projects where the choice of planting material determines the individuality and atmosphere: zoos, amusement parks, medical facilities, cemeteries and natural playgrounds. Meanwhile, the balance of nature is getting more and more of the attention it deserves in the urban environment. We are now seeing a shift towards mixed plantings, where the tree is given space to grow freely and develop in its natural form to full maturity. We consider this the ideal basis for the further development of the Ebben nursery, our vision and passion.
