Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it. )

Are meals included in tuition? Can I choose to send my child with lunch?

We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by a registered dietician to meet the needs of rapidly growing bodies and minds. If your child has special dietary requirements and you would prefer to bring in their lunch, please make arrangements with the center director.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

My son often comes home with new words and phrases and he has improved his communication and behavior at home since the start of the year. Riverdale Presbyterian Church Nursery School

Our Mission & History

Our mission is to provide a quality, non-sectarian nursery school education, aimed at stimulating imagination and intellectual curiosity in a warm and nurturing environment. Our play-based, developmentally appropriate, curriculum offers enriching experiences in socialization, language arts, visual arts, early math, science, dramatic and imaginative play, sensory play, fine and gross motor development, social studies and nutrition, and encourages personal growth, empathy and kindness in each child.

Since 1954, the Riverdale Presbyterian Church Nursery School has been providing a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, hands-on educational experience for the children of Riverdale and its surrounding communities. Started in the basement of the historic Greyston mansion in North Riverdale (now a conference space for Teachers College / Columbia University), RPCNS has carried its legacy of engaging not just young children, but their families, and the community, to establish relationships which are responsive, rewarding and collaborative.

RPCNS is housed inside the Riverdale Presbyterian Church, an official New York City landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. RPC is of the Late Gothic Revival style, and its charming interior offers a cozy and warm environment, perfect for young children.

Program Options

RPCNS offers a variety of programs for children and their families. 

Our nursery school serves children 3 – 5 years old and runs for ten months  from September through June. We also offer a summer program for children 3 – 5 years of age.

Our 3K and PreK classes (funded by the NYC DOE and free to all NYC families) operate M-F, from 8:40am – 3:00pm.

We offer an early drop off program starting at 8 am, and an extended day program from 3:00 – 6:00 pm.

We are pleased to offer Toddlers Together @ RPCNS for younger children. Children ages 16 months (& walking) to 36 months can join Michelle Byron on our private, nature filled playground to play, explore, & create in the great outdoors. We offer morning and and afternoon sessions.

RPCNS offers a fun and engaging Summer Program- Explorations in Nature, which runs from June through Mid-August.

Learning at RPCNS

Children learn with their whole bodies – their minds, eyes, noses, mouths, ears and skin. Children also learn from their prior experiences, families, cultures and communities. We at RPCNS make sure that all of these different parts are working together to ensure the best possible learning experience for each child.

Activities are always developmentally appropriate, hands-on and multisensory, and encourage children to be critical thinkers.

Children at RPCNS also develop a sense of empathy which encourages meaningful and productive social interactions with their peers, and with the world. 

RPCNS prides itself on the partnerships we establish with our families, which always include open, mutually rewarding communication and a shared vision of what each child’s learning experience should be. These partnerships are extremely important to us and are the cornerstone of our program’s mission to serve not just children, but their families as well.

3K & PreK For All

3s & PreKindergarten at RPCNS is a rich program for children who are 3 and 4 years old. In collaboration with the NYC Department of Education, we are proud to enroll children as part of 3K & PreK For All. The city-funded program offers free preschool to children who are residents of New York City, from any of the boroughs. For those families from nearby Yonkers and Westchester, we offer private pay schedules as well.

3K & PreKindergarten hours are 8:40 am – 3:00 pm.

3K & PreK offers 3 & 4 year olds the opportunity to engage in an emergent curriculum where interests guide their studies. In addition to extensive time on our wonderful playground and property, rich classroom centers are curated in dramatic play, blocks, writing, art, reading, maker space, science, and movement and while they are facilitated by teachers, the children take ownership in the classroom as well. These special years in nursery school is meant to foster independence, autonomy, collaboration, and problem-solving; key skills to a successful educational journey. This developmentally appropriate curriculum reflects the 3K Explorations and PreK Foundation for the Common Core and is filled with inquiry, and engagement.

Family Involvement

Family involvement is a very important part of RPCNS. From the moment children enroll with us, their families become part of the RPCNS family. There are several ways for parents and caregivers to be involved:

Parent Organization:  Every family joins the Parent Organization, pays a small amount of dues at the start of the year, and is encouraged to participate in nursery school life. This can be through digital communication, attending an event, participating in the classroom, volunteering, attending a Chat with Tara, and so much more!

Joining a committee is a wonderful opportunity to have a voice in the way the nursery school operates and grows. Volunteering to be a Class Parent and joining new committees each year are just some of the fun ways to get involved and get to know your fellow parents.  Your support for the ongoing high quality education at RPCNS is essential!

Events: RPCNS holds many events during the year which are fun and bring us together!  Some events involve the whole family while other events are just for parents. Each year these events change to meet the interests and celebrations of the children.

Communication: RPCNS aims to establish a mutually rewarding and ongoing dialogue with each family to ensure a productive learning experience for each child. We invite you to reach out anytime.

The voice-over of Forsyth Padelton (Jughead) Jones III, who is sitting in a diner and typing text on a laptop. This is a story about a small town and the people living in it. From the outside it may seem that it is the same as other cities around the world – safe, decent, innocent. But it is worth taking a closer look, as you will see the darkness enveloping him. Our city is called Riverdale. This story begins with what the Blossom twins did this summer. On July 4, as soon as dawn broke, Jason and Cheryl Blossom went to the Sweet Water River to go boating. Then (this is the only thing we know for sure) Dilton Doyley, the Boy Scout leader, spotted Cheryl on the river bank. The police searched the entire river for Jason’s body, but never found him. A week later, the Blossom family buried an empty coffin, and Jason’s death was ruled an accident. According to Cheryl, it was due to her glove falling into the water, which Jason reached for, but accidentally capsized the boat, panicked and drowned. On the last day of vacation, when we were still discussing the tragedy of July 4, another mystery appeared in the city . ..

A car pulls up to a house in a prestigious area, Hermione Lodge and her daughter Veronica get out. Mother says: get ready, housing is small, temporary, but of high quality, and it is registered on me, and not on your father. Hermione is warmly greeted by the butler Smithers, helping the ladies unload their luggage, wondering if the hostess will order dinner. Hermione says that she dreamed about burgers from Pop’s diner for half a day.

Elisabetta (Betty) Cooper preens before meeting Archie Andrews, whom they haven’t seen all summer. Betty complains to her gay friend Kevin Keller that Archie isn’t making the first move. Kevin argues that Archie, like most millennials, just doesn’t know what he wants. Kevin sees Archie in the window of the neighbor’s house, he admires his muscular torso: how prettier he is! You have six more reasons to trade it today.

Betty and Archie are at Pop’s diner. Betty talks about her summer internship. Archie says he worked at a construction site for his father’s firm and started writing songs out of boredom. Archie claims that he finally understood what he wants to do in life – music. But he has no intention of giving up football either. Betty tries to say that their friendship with Archie has become something more for her. But he is distracted by the girl who entered the diner. This is Veronica, she came to pick up the order made by her mother. Veronica approaches Betty and Archie, introduces herself to them, informs them that she and her mother have just moved from New York. It turns out that Veronica will be studying with Betty and Archie in the same class, and it will be Betty who will have to give the new girl a tour of the school.

In the morning, Betty’s mother Alice Cooper reminds her daughter that this year will be crucial for her to go to college, to pay attention to her studies, extracurricular activities and maintain a good reputation. Alice says that Betty’s sister Polly also showed great promise in her time, but Jason Blossom ruined everything. Therefore, Betty should not be distracted by relationships with Archie, because the guys are all the same.

In the school locker room, Reggie Mantle tells Archie that he is in great shape and ready to play for the football team. Marmaduke (Moose) Mason agrees with this.

Betty gives Veronica a tour of the school. She asks: how do you have fun here? Kevin jumps up to the girls: the Gateway Zone strip club, the Namek gay bar, Friday nights, football games and closed parties in parking lots. We always watch movies on Saturday evenings. Come early, there are no reservations in Riverdale. Betty introduces Kevin and Veronica. She immediately understands that Kevin is gay: thank God, we will be friends. Kevin asks Veronica: Are they telling the truth about your father? She clarifies: that he is a fiend? I am on my father’s side.

Archie comes to the rehearsal of Josie and the Cats. He turns to its leader Josie McCoy, wants to show her the songs he wrote. She arrogantly declares: “Kitties” become a brand, we only sing songs that we write ourselves. Josie sends Archie away.

Veronica notices Archie in the hallway, says to Betty: there is that red-haired handsome man you were with yesterday. Is this your boyfriend? No, we’re just friends. In that case, can I borrow it? Kevin says: Actually, Betty and Archie are made for each other. Veronica: Then invite him to the dance. Kevin: I heard they might be canceled because of what happened to Jason.

During the general school meeting, Cheryl Blossom takes the floor after a minute of silence. I loved my brother and you all meant so much to him. I’m sure Jason wouldn’t want us to mourn all year. We need to move on. So I asked the student council not to cancel the dance. This is how we heal our wounds together.

Flashback. During the holidays, Archie develops a secret love affair with young music teacher Geraldine Grundy.

Archie exchanges glances with Miss Grundy. After the meeting, he approaches her and wants to consult about the music. Ms. Grundy says that Archie can make an appointment with her during official business hours.

Hermione Lodge visits the construction firm of Archie’s father, Fred Andrews, wondering how Mary is? She’s in Chicago, we parted amicably. Hermione asks an old acquaintance to take her to a temporary job as an accountant, Fred refuses her: I can’t hire the wife of a convict of fraud as an accountant.

At lunchtime, Archie plays his song to Betty, Kevin and Veronica. Everyone is delighted. Archie says that he has an appointment with Ms. Grundy, after which he needs to go to football practice. He’s leaving. Cheryl joins the company. She declares that she is the captain of the Chanterelle cheerleading team, invites Veronica to come to the casting. Veronica invites Betty to come with her. As Cheryl leaves, Betty explains that I tried to get in last year, but Cheryl said I was too fat. Veronica claims that now Betty has just a gorgeous figure.

Archie lets Miss Grundy listen to his songs, says that he did everything as she advised, asks to continue to help him make music. The teacher says we shouldn’t be alone. In addition to his work, Archie wants to talk to Geraldine about something else. At six o’clock in the morning on July 4, the two of them were on the bank of the river and heard a shot, but they did not tell anyone about it. Miss Grundy claims they were fireworks. Archie disagrees: who sets off fireworks at six in the morning? Geraldine: how do we explain why we were alone by the river at this hour? And you’re right: we didn’t say anything, we’ll have to live with it now. Keep making music, but without me.

Veronica and Betty are casting for Chanterelles. Cheryl reveals to Veronica that her late brother and sister Betty Polly dated for a while. And then Polly had a nervous breakdown, she landed in a psychiatric hospital. Cheryl provokes Betty: what do you think of Jason and his act? Come on, tear me apart. Betty manages to deal with a fit of rage. She expresses her condolences on Jason’s death. Cheryl declares that she is ready to take Veronica to the team, and she again refuses Betty. Veronica protests: Is it because Betty isn’t a bitch? She and I are in the same set, you need one – take both.

Coach Clayton gives Archie a T-shirt with the number “9”, under which Jason Blossom used to play in the national team, the coach is ready to take Archie to his position. He refers to employment in his father’s company, which will make it difficult for him to attend regular training.

Betty asks Veronica why she stood up for her with Cheryl. Veronica says: when my father was arrested, people began to write terrible things about us. That my father is a thief, my mother is a stupid socialite, and I am a spoiled, emotionless princess. And the worst thing is that it’s all true. I was like Cheryl, even worse. The move is my chance to become a kinder and possibly better version of myself. Betty talks about Jason and Polly: when they started dating, she was in love, but he was not. Their relationship became unhealthy, the mother took up arms against Polly, said that she was no longer her daughter, said nasty things. Jason offended Polly, her mother trampled on her.

Betty and Veronica walk past the football field. Veronica calls Archie, pushes Betty in the side to invite the guy to the dance. Betty suggests that the three of us go there. Archie agrees.

Alice is not happy that Betty signed up to be a cheerleader. She forbids her daughter from being on Cheryl Blossom’s team. Betty argues with her mother: I’m tired of being the perfect daughter, the perfect sister, the student. I want to do something for myself! And I’m going to the dance with Archie and Veronica. With Hermione Lodge’s daughter? Is she your new friend? Look, Betty, girls like Cheryl and Veronica aren’t like us… Enough, Mom, I’m leaving!

Smithers brings a bag into Hermione’s room. She asks: what is it? Your missing bag has been brought to you. After the butler leaves, Hermione opens her bag, it is filled with wads of money. Hermione exclaims: Hyrom, what have you done?

Archie, Veronica and Betty attend Jason’s memorial dance. Veronika was tired of talking about the choice between football and music: why not do both at the same time? Veronica goes for punch. Archie also steps aside for a couple of minutes to talk to Ms. Grundy. Kevin runs up to Betty: guess who flirted with me in the bathroom? A handsome football player named Elk!

Archie proposes to Miss Grundy: you will give me lessons as much as you can, and I won’t talk about the 4th of July. She agrees to study with Archie in the morning before class.

Cheryl, as the hostess of the evening, announces the highlight of the program: the Josie and the Cats group. Usually they perform with their own material, but today they will perform a cover version of the song that Jason and I were conceived to.

Archie returns to Betty, invites her to dance. He informs her that he will agree on everything: classes with Grandi will be before school, football after, and his father will have to work on weekends.

Cheryl tells her girlfriends to invite Archie, Betty and Veronica to an after party: I crave chaos.

Cheryl starts a game at the after party. She appoints Jason as the first person to go to the “love closet”. Then the party members spin the bottle, she points to Veronica, who should keep Archie company. Veronica refuses. Cheryl declares: then I will take your place.

Archie and Veronica are locked in a dressing room for seven minutes. They kill time by asking each other personal questions. Archie confesses that Betty is his best friend, but he has never been attracted to her. Have you had similar feelings for anyone else? Yes, this summer. And you have? One day. Archie and Veronica kiss.

Coming out of the closet, Veronica asks: where is Betty? She ran away. Archie says Betty needs to be found. Veronica is sure that looking for her together is a bad idea.

Veronica is coming home. Archie goes to Pop’s diner, but finds only Jughead there, who continues to write his Riverdale novel. Jag advises Archie to talk to Betty.

Archie visits Betty. She asks: Do you like me at least a little? Yes, but only as a friend. Why? You are perfect, I don’t deserve you. A tearful Betty returns to the house.

Kevin and Moose arrive at the river bank at night. Moose says: I’m not gay. No, you are a football player. But if you’re gay, what would you like? Everything but kisses. Kevin offers Moose to go skinny dipping, and then – how will he go. Suddenly, Kevin notices that a dead body has washed up on the shore. This is Jason. He is shot in the head.

Jughead’s voiceover. By morning everyone will be writing and talking about what happened. Everyone will feel that everything has changed forever. Riverdale is not what it used to be. Now it is full of shadows and secrets. Jason’s autopsy will be performed on Monday. On Tuesday, the police will make the first arrest.

During the night, Archie texts Betty, asking her to talk to him. She refuses. Archie goes home to Geraldine. He says there were no fireworks on July 4th, maybe they killed Jason. We know the time when the shot rang out, this should be reported to the police. Ms. Grundy: If they find out we were there, I’ll be fired and you’ll be expelled from school. Then – prison.

Despite her mother’s prohibition, Betty continues to communicate with Archie, claims that they can remain friends.

Veronica tries to make peace with Betty, leaves her a gorgeous bouquet of roses at the janitor’s. Veronica also offers Betty New York Bakery cupcakes, a paid certificate for a shared manicure and pedicure at the spa. Veronica asks for forgiveness: I will never do this to you again. Betty agrees to forget the insult. She explains to Kevin: I don’t want Veronica to ruin someone else’s life.

Principal Wezzerby makes an announcement on the school radio, giving the floor to Sheriff Tom Keller (Kevin’s father). He says that on Saturday evening the body of Jason Bossom was discovered, now his death is qualified as a murder. He asks anyone who has information that will help in the investigation to immediately report it to him or Director Wezzerby.

Jughead asks Archie why he canceled their July 4th trip at the last minute. Archie does not answer this question.

Alice receives additional information about the state of Jason’s body from a pathologist in exchange for a bribe. She is the editor of a local newspaper and plans to publish a scandalous material.

After class, Kevin tells Veronica and Betty that Moose doesn’t exude gay vibes, he’s more interested in young ladies. The company approaches Archie. Veronica asks him to share the new fruits of his creativity. Archie hums a song that brings Betty to tears. She says she’s not yet ready to accept Archie’s offer to remain friends.

Archie is called by Principal Wezzerby, who suspects that, based on his reaction to the sheriff’s announcement, Archie has something to confess about Jason’s death.

Archie tries to discuss the situation with Ms Grundy. Then he asks her: are your feelings for me real? Geraldine replies yes, real ones, although wrong. Therefore, Whizzerby must not say anything, otherwise we will not be able to see each other again. A couple talking in private is noticed by Jughead.

Chanterelles are getting ready to play at the upcoming football match. During the warm-up, Betty chides Veronica that she and Archie were doing great before she showed up. She says: no one is to blame that we are not liked by those who like us. They start an argument, which is interrupted by Cheryl. Betty invites Cheryl to use the certificate Veronica gave her.

Hermione got a job as a waitress at Pop’s diner, Veronica stops by after school. Archie arrives to pick up the order. Hermione asks the guy to walk her daughter home. On the way, Veronica talks about her fight with Betty. Archie also worries that she is offended by him.

After the spa, Cheryl comes to visit Betty. Cheryl talks nasty things about Veronica, asks Betty about her sister. She claims that she does not know anything about the relationship between Polly and Jason. Cheryl begins to be rude, blaming Polly for her brother’s death. Betty chases her away.

Jughead is waiting outside Archie’s house. He guessed about the connection between Archie and Miss Grundy. He does not deny this. Archie also talks about the gunshot they heard on July 4th by the river, but tells Jughead to keep quiet about it. Jughead says that he can no longer consider Archie as his friend.

The next day, Betty admits that Veronica was right about both Cheryl and Archie. Voronika claims that sometimes having a friend is better than having a lover.

Archie gets into a fight with football player Reiji, who suggested that Jason could have been killed by a loser like Jughead.

Before the football game begins, Archie informs Jughead that he will report the shooting to the sheriff and principal. After the performance of the cheerleaders, accompanied by the “Kids”, the players enter the field. Cheryl sees Archie in her brother’s form and has a nervous breakdown.

Sobbing in the locker room, Veronica comforts Cheryl. This is seen by Betty, who has come running after her.

After the match, Betty invites Veronica for a milkshake at Pop’s diner. There, Veronica offers to take an oath that no guy will ever come between them. Betty agrees. Archie and Jughead arrive and join the girls in an animated conversation.

The next morning, high school biology class is interrupted by the arrival of Sheriff Keller and Principal Wezzerby. Cheryl rises from her seat: you are after my soul, aren’t you? Everyone will soon find out that I’m guilty anyway.

Jughead’s voiceover. Three shocking words. But they don’t compare to the results of Jason’s autopsy. He did not die on July 4, as everyone believed, but only a week later.

At the end of July, the release of the 6th season of the popular TV series Riverdale ended on all TV screens of the world, which left viewers with mixed feelings. About why the new part of Archie’s story was received badly, how the little witch Sabrina turned out to be in it and when to wait for the next season – in our new article.

The plot of the TV series Riverdale

Riverdale is a mystical thriller about the life and dark secrets of the small town of the same name. The premiere of the series took place in 2017, since then it has already been released for 6 seasons, a total of 117 episodes. The show was based on the Archie Comics series of the same name. This publisher has its own universe, but not a superhero one, but rather a mystical one. Most often, the heroes of Archie comics are teenagers who either have magical abilities or investigate mysterious phenomena associated with magic. By the way, one of the heroines of the Archie universe is the same Sabrina Spellman, who was the main character of the early 2000s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch. In spirit, the series and comics are similar to Stranger Things, only without the science fiction bias.

The story of Riverdale revolves around teenage Archie Andrews (the publishing company was named after this character), who lives in the small American town of Riverdale. The first season begins with the fact that one quiet summer, when all the schoolchildren were on vacation, the city was shocked by the ominous disappearance of Jason Blossom, a student at the local school. Archie was not too worried about the mysterious disappearance of a peer, because he had only one thing on his mind – the beautiful Veronica Lodge, the daughter of a millionaire accused of embezzlement, who recently settled in the city. But suddenly, a group of Boy Scouts discover Jason’s body in a local river. From that moment on, Archie begins to slowly get involved in this mysterious case, which could cost him his life.

The final season ends with a showdown between Archie’s team and Riverdale Mayor Perceval Pickens. The heroes reveal his plan, according to which he was going to build a ghost train, thereby possessing the souls of the living and the dead of the city. The Mayor unleashes the ghosts and resurrected dead on them that he has taken control of. They turn the entire city into a battlefield and with great difficulty defeat Perceval by trapping him in a mental trap.

Cast of Riverdale

The cast of the show is not stellar. The reason for this was that it began as a teenage series, that is, all the actors at the time of the beginning were not very adults and did not have time to somehow express themselves in a special way. Nevertheless, several familiar faces can still be found in it.

The main character Archie was played by KJ Apa. Some viewers, especially if they love animals, may have seen him in the 2017 film A Dog’s Life with Josh Gad and Dennis Kuyed. But the main glory of Ape was brought, of course, by “Riverdale”. The actor himself is grateful for the success of the project, first of all to the fans:

“This show gave the whole team so much. In fact, without the fans, we wouldn’t have a trajectory or a purpose for this show. So for everything that we shoot now, for everything that we will do in the future, we are eternally grateful to them.

Archie’s lover, Veronica, was embodied on screen by Camila Mendez, who was featured in the recent comedy Hanging in Palm Springs. The series also stars Lili Reinhart, the star of the recent remake of Charlie’s Angels, and Cole Sprouse, who played Cody on The Life of Zack and Cody.

Fan Reviews for Riverdale Season 6

Unfortunately, the reception of the series has gotten worse and worse over the years. Now we can already say that the show is going through its darkest days.

Reviewers categorically refuse to accept the 6th season of the series. Most of them write that they simply do not understand how a series with such an absurd script could be renewed for so many seasons. The first 2 seasons could still be called quite good, but everything that was filmed after was just awful. Some fans say that the writers are just trying to cram an impossibly large number of storylines into one season, which prevents all of them from developing smoothly.

Also, those commentators who were familiar with the original comics were outraged that all the characters were supposed to be about 16 years old, while the characters of Riverdale are well over 20, they are already planning families, which does not fit in at all. original concept.

Now the main question for all of them is only when this endless parade of shame will finally end.

Will there be a 7th season of Riverdale?

The showrunners already renewed the series for a 7th season back in March 2022. According to insiders, it will be the final show for the show, although no official statements have yet been made in this regard.

According to recent comments from the studio, in the new season, the characters will again become teenagers. Due to time travel at the end of season 6, the timeline of the universe was broken. Therefore, events will take place in the retro world of the 1950s.

Presumably, the final season will be released in the middle of 2023, that is, in the spring and summer of next year.

What else to see from the Archie universe?

Riverdale is not the only adaptation of the Archie comics. A new series about the adventures of Sabrina Spellman, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, recently wrapped. Moreover, unlike the last seasons of Riverdale, the series about Sabrina was received very warmly by the fans.

For a long time it was a mystery to the audience whether these 2 shows would be combined into one universe. Finally, in the 6th season of Riverdale, Sabrina, played by Kiranan Shipka, appeared for one episode as a cameo, which confirmed the connection between these series. Now you have a chance to immerse yourself in the whole mystical movie universe from Archie.

The series “Katy Keene” also entered the same universe. It tells about a young girl, Katie, who dreams of becoming the world’s most famous fashion designer and conquering New York with her outfits. It was created primarily as a melodrama, so there are much less mystics there. But this show is much more connected to Riverdale due to common events and characters.

Foreword

Jughead

As if glued on by the smiles of local residents, a bottomless closet, the size of Narnia itself, is hidden, tightly stuffed with skeletons. Of course, every small town has its secrets. But even those who have spent their entire lives in Riverdale were shocked when this, figuratively speaking, Pandora’s box opened slightly, revealing its contents for all to see.

Believe me, I know what I’m talking about. Lately, I’ve begun to notice that everyone I care about somehow gets caught up in one David Lynch-esque story after another.

Riverdale is also a Norman Rockwell-inspired city. Here you have a pancake midnight party at the end of winter, and frosty patterns decorating the windows of City Hall, and puffs of steam escaping from your mouth when – if! We decide to go out into the cold. Or take the reunion of Riverdale High School, a celebration of the spirit of America, licked off the screen of cable TV: football, dancing, and a sense of pride in one’s town.

But my personal favorite is the annual Fourth of July celebration of Independence Day. Seriously, this is the only holiday that seems important to me. Usually, Betty and Archie and I took part in city festivities together, ate hot dogs and cotton candy, tried our hand at the fair competition – who will shoot the ball into the ring? (Betty always turned out to be the sharpest of us.) By the evening, Archie and I would go to Centerville to watch the fireworks, and Betty would stay in Riverdale, going to a local concert with her sister Polly (Betty was constantly chasing after her sister, even when Polly started dating Jason and they became inseparable). Independence Day is our thing. It’s always been that way. Archie and I took part in the celebration even before we could walk, our parents took us with them. Betty joined us somewhere in first grade. And it’s been our thing ever since.

Or rather, it was our feature.

Because everything changed this summer. Betty left for Los Angeles to hone her journalistic skills at an internship at the Hello Giggles Internet portal (by the way, Polly and Jason broke up – they quarreled nobly, they burned all the bridges, just the War of the Scarlet and White Roses). And Archie got stuck helping his father at the construction site…

To be honest, I rarely meet him lately. I do not know why. Better don’t ask.

Well, I… What am I? So far, summer is summer. I work part-time in the evening at the Twilight movie theater to get a little money, not to stay at home and at the same time less an eyesore to my dad …

Not an eyesore – I am a master at this. I watch what is happening from the side, and then I write about everything that I see.

Meanwhile in New York, though none of us knew it yet, a young socialite named Veronica Lodge was blithely living her life like a Gossip Girl heroine, all thanks to her dad, Hiram Lodge, or rather, his bottomless bank account. Veronica’s parents have their own history with Riverdale, but it had nothing to do with us.

Well, at least we thought so.

According to the butterfly effect, even the smallest event can cause unpredictable – and catastrophic – events. One action – a cascade of consequences – an unforeseen outcome.

This is exactly what happened to us that summer. With Archie, Betty, Veronica and me. It was the third of July. Ahead loomed a holiday, from which I did not expect anything good, since we were apart. We didn’t even know then that our paths had already intertwined in the most outlandish way.

Tiny stupid butterflies, we flapped our wings, not knowing where it would lead.

Chapter One

Betty

Dear diary!

I can’t believe it’s already the fourth of July! So strange to celebrate Independence Day here in Los Angeles without Polly, Archie and Jughead. I can’t even remember the last time we missed a city party in Riverdale on this day. Probably the summer when Archie and Jughead were building a treehouse and Archie broke his arm. We then spent the whole day at home, reading comics and eating red-white-blue popsicles. The ice cream made everyone’s tongues purple, and Juggy ate three times as many servings as Archie and me. But that was so long ago.

Of course I miss Riverdale and my friends. But LA is just AMAZING. Aunt Gertrude’s house smells weird (I don’t know what it is, but I think it’s ingrained in the walls – it’s some strange mixture of garlic and laundry soap), but she lives right on the edge of Runyon Canyon Park. So every day before work I run there. The view is just incredible. The spirit is captivating. There is nothing like this in Riverdale.

The weather is great, the barista at Blackwood Coffee has already memorized my order (espresso, add milk and two tablespoons of sugar)… And one more thing…

Yes, I miss Polly. But this is the first time to be so far from my mother … Hmm, not bad at all.

It’s clear that I love her, and, of course, my mother loves me, but she controls everything so much. And then suddenly I had at least some freedom of action. That is so cool.

I also enjoy working for the women’s online magazine Hello Giggles. Nothing that I haven’t been able to please my boss, Rebecca Santos, editor-in-chief of the features department. Whether she thinks I’m a fool from the backwoods, or something else, but for some reason I just can not impress her.

Probably because I’m new, not local, and I have much less experience than other employees. Rebecca basically runs me around with little errands—getting coffee, setting up a meeting, doing a mailing list. In general, I am her errand girl.

That is to say, I’m still delighted with the new work, but so far I haven’t been able to write anything, except maybe the titles on the spines of the folders. Freaky Brad. So he introduced himself. It sounded so bad that I laughed, which is probably why he said it.

I met him a week after my arrival in Los Angeles. I had already begun to slowly get used to the bustle of the city. The flow of cars here is simply insane, traffic jams do not dissolve for hours, and every day. And the weather is always the same – seriously, no one here knows what to do on those rare days when it rains. The locals would go crazy if they had to live in Riverdale in the winter, although we have so much maple syrup that the whole of Los Angeles could eat only this syrup, and endlessly … Ordinary passers-by here look like celebrities, maybe once – one day they will become stars. But still, I still felt like a provincial in a big city – and how could it be otherwise, when I had some pink flowers or something like that on almost all my clothes? I might as well put a sign on my forehead that says TOURIST. ..or STRANGER. Nevertheless, I gradually adapted to the rhythm of the city, and although I still felt like an outsider, I felt good here.

Polly wrote to me often, asking about the guys in Los Angeles, and I said that the guys don’t pay attention to me. I am a sweetheart for them. The unremarkable girl next door. And the only guy whose attention I really need definitely loves me … but probably not in the way I would like. For him, I’m just the girl next door.

(Actually, I don’t know how he feels about me, because I was always afraid to ask.)

So, it was Friday. Rebecca sent me to buy sushi for the entire office (tempura shrimp rolls, brown rice, hot sauce, and hijiki seaweed salad—I already knew by heart what Rebecca usually orders). Even though I had pre-ordered over the phone, the waiter said that I would have to wait, so I took a book out of my bag (The Bluest Eyes, I read it a hundred times) and sat on the grass in Maguire Gardens, there is a great place : you can sit and stare at people.

It was one of those summer days when everything around is lush green and blooming and the sky is as blue as in professional photos. Only it was not a photograph, but real life. Hashtag: no filter.

The understatement of the century. Toni Morrison is my IDOL. Hello Giggles is hosting a readership meeting for her this summer, and I dream of being a part of that project. Since I found out about the meeting, I even allowed myself some “transparent” hints – for example, I carried one of Morrison’s books with me everywhere.

– If you read such books to relax, other ways to unwind will not hurt you. When he smiled, wrinkles gathered at the corners of his eyes.

Am I flirting with him? What if Los Angeles Betty really knows how to flirt? And maybe Riverdale Betty should learn something from her?

Detectives – a genre of cinema, the main characters or heroes of which are trying to find a solution to a problem or solve a crime. Throughout the film, a police detective, a private detective or a simple layman is trying to figure out the mysterious circumstances of a particular incident, using all the means at his disposal.

Particular attention is paid to the protagonist’s deductive abilities, his skill, determination, perseverance and other personal and professional qualities, with the help of which he tries to understand a crime or situation, analyzing evidence and circumstances, collecting evidence, interrogating witnesses and tracking down a criminal. One of the key features of films of the detective genre is suspense (from the English suspense) – a state of anxiety and anxious expectation. This effect is achieved through unexpected plot twists, sound accompaniment, the play of light and shadow, as well as various camera techniques.

All these techniques were used in his films by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of the detective genre and cinema in general.
